where - the reef bar
Celeste didn't mind working Mondays since the bar tended to close up shop early, like now. She was wiping down the bar top but every now and then glanced to the man sitting at the edge, and finally after a solid ten minutes of cleaning around him, she finally decided to pipe up. "You uh..okay over there? Wanna order another drink? Or need anything?" She wondered, tilting her head as she gave him a look over.

Mei Lian had been more than a little surprised when their names had been announced for winning best dressed couple. She thought the whole ‘competition’ would be something silly--until very real prizes were announced. The money would happily be given to charity (another win in the eyes of the world, as far as she was concerned) and the dinners would be nice since Mei was still getting used to being in a public relationship with Julian, but the last one definitely threw her for a loop. Vogue? She was hardly a socialite-- much more used to being in the background than up front and center. Not to mention the magazine would publish everywhere. Meaning their families outside of the island would see it. A fact that admittedly made something akin to nerves flutter through her.
Maybe she was just being ridiculous though. It was the twenty-first century. She had nothing to fear anymore about anyones’ opinions on her relationship with Julian like she had back then. It’d be fine. Good even. That still didn’t stop her from dropping by his office in the council building though as she had free time from the labs, heels clicking against tiles as she made her way through the halls and to his office, knocking on the open door and leaning against the frame with a smile, “Hard at work, my Lord?” she asked lightly, knowing he’d be able to easily soothe any little worries she was having. “Or can I distract you for a little bit?”

CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVIAL
March 15th w/ @jt-morrison
Dilara let her eyes focus on the little ticket name. Alex Drakos. Wasn’t he the famous race car driver? She tilted her head as she looked at it, folding it up and placing it into her pocket as she raised her head to see Julian walking towards her. A smile appeared on her features as she put her hands in front of her. “Mr. Morrison. I didn’t think I’d see you at the festival today.” She mused. Truthfully, it was kind of cute to see him at the town events especially because a part of her wanted everyone to see him the way she did. “Don’t tell me you came over to me because we have to work? I have another engagement to get to.”

“do you think he’s freaking out?” asked julian, unable to even hide the amusement in his voice. the both of them kept checking their phones to see if they had gotten a response. the last night they had gone out to a party. they hadn’t been expecting some guy to kiss astrid let alone kiss julian next. though it wouldn’t have been the first time they had messed around. astrid shrugged as she looked down at her phone,” i hope not,” she said with a laugh,” i mean, i did invite him to join us for some food after but i’m starting to wonder if he even remembers last night?” then again the drinks had been flowing. everyone had been having a good time so it would be understandable if he didn’t. her nose crinkled a bit as she went to take a few small sips of her orange juice. julian couldn’t help but smile a bit and went to press a kiss to her temple,” i think he does, we weren’t that fucked up.”

Visual Language Things in Improbable Cause/The Die Is Cast that are driving me INSANE
the stuff they do with light and shadow in these episodes is just. someone went 'I know artists who use subtlety and they're all cowards' and they were so right for that
are you telling me... that this man is caught between light and dark in this moment and hasn't yet decided which side his soul is going to come down on in the end. hm. interesting. (especially cool that when the shadows of his face are lit up in the runabout at the end, that's when you see the damage underneath. he's partially made that choice and he's illuminated, but not by a comforting light yet, those are danger colours. odo and garak bonding on a day trip to hell; the episode)
I think this shot is ultimately my touchpoint for the visual language set up in this episode -- julian bashir standing there in 'wherever you have to go, come home to this afterwards' light as garak walks into the shadows (and towards tain). where does the light in his life come from currently? we may have a clue before us folks
(This one is literally just because his expression here makes my chest feel weird and aching. oof. I feel like this is one of the rare times he lets himself be really openly soft because he must know there's a decent chance he's not coming back)
aaaand what's the very first thing that greets him once he 'returns to the light' so to speak? :) little bit of a moral and emotional horror show in the middle there admittedly but thanks to odo he did come home and no one like. died or anything. well. many many people died but that honestly wasn't his fault or responsibility. we'll call it a victory
some really cool odo shots too in this ep. I love you constable this was so fucking extra for no reason
fun little detail: when the defiant starts shaking upon taking fire, Julian immediately puts his hand on Garak's shoulder -- the same way and on the same side as Garak did to Tain minutes before, when Odo had to fucking. knock him out to make him let go. (again: odo I love you. a direct and decisive thinker above all)

Jim and Spock are like. We were written in the 60s so we’re in love and repressed and looking at each other with the most painful, heart wrenching longing in the galaxy. We will find each other in every universe and every timeline. We are connected by a red string. You know that I know that you know. This is the best tragic love story you will ever see.
Geordi and Data are like. The symbolism inherent to the blind engineer and his mechanical best friend who glows for him and only him. Tearing ourselves apart because we both think the other deserves better. Our relationship is intimate by nature but I won’t inflict myself on you. You know that I know that you know. This is the best tragic love story you will ever see.
Julian and Garak are like. We’re supposed to be enemies and I’m supposed to be afraid of you. You’re ashamed of your past and I’m ashamed of mine. We’re arguing about nothing but it’s only because I’m in love with you. You know that I know that you know. This is the best tragic love story you will ever see.
Janeway and Chakotay are like. We’re stranded very far from home and we’re in love but we won’t do anything about it because it would be improper. We have a ship to run and a crew to take care of and our personal needs come last. I’ll keep you at arms length and you’ll never complain. You know that I know that you know. This is the best tragic love story you will ever see.
I love Star Trek for its ability to write these deeply painful, unresolved love stories. I love the actors for making it emotional. I love the writers for being transparent about the purpose of those raw moments.
You may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but is often true.

hi, first off i really love your art. the h/c and warmth really hit me where i live and your illustration style is fantastic. lately i've been obsessed with the post where an unwell milek thinks geralt will leave him behind. was that an ingrained insecurity, assuming his super-witcher dad wouldn't have time for a sickly human kid?
[MASTERPOST] - Ahh, thank you for the ask! Yes, this scene.. I actually saw this a bit differently! It's not about Milek fearing Geralt will leave him behind, he actually wants him to. They need to find his Pa!! I think he often feels like a burden; Jaskier knows this, but Geralt isn't aware of this yet. Milek just wants to pull his weight, especially with Jaskier. A little sneak peak to their struggles regarding this:
Meanwhile Jaskier continues to struggle with his omega status.

🍒 HOUSE PARTY | CHERISHING CHERRY
Welcome back to Cherishing Cherry! Today Cherry threw a house party to hopefully get closer with the remaining men in the mansion!
First things first, let's get to dancin' - Alternative music for the win, everyone loves it!
Nik told Cherry a dramatic story then fell asleep in the hot tub
Speaking of the hot tub, that's where everyone mostly spent their time. Cherry spoke to Matt about her interests - dogs, it's always dogs; isn't he just so cute????
Terrance was flirting with Cherry right in front of Micheal. Totally unimpressed.
Once the party was over, Julian and Cherry got to flirting in the hot tub in front of everyone; let the jealousy ensue!

'How well would your OCs do against a cockroach' Tag
Taking @touloserlautrec's open tag! I'll leave this an open tag too.
Winchester crew (TFA)
Dez: just watching it. Probably trying to identify it on the network. 0% concerned.
Syndy: ugh you have to smash these, they're bad news. [misses like five times and then manages to smash it into the engravings on her feet] Peeeteeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Peter: it's okay I'll have these cleaned up in a sec. Oh look, there's another one. Let me-- oh, never mind, Tulip [his dog] just ate it.
Zel: believes the cockroach is too fast to squish, therefore it is, no matter how carefully she approaches it with a shoe (it would be Zalen's shoe if he ever wore anything that wasn't heels. This delicate procedure requires surface area).
Anni: chasing it around furniture trying to capture it in a glass while running through all the possible reasons there could be a cockroach??? in her house???
Julian: sighs and manages to stomp it on the first try.
Hoven: stares at it and wills it not to come any closer before he can make Julian deal with it.
Urma: climbs on the table and calls Anni.
Nicea crew
Declan: immediately decides this is above his pay grade and goes to find someone else to deal with it.
Cady: cockroach trapper extraordinaire. The cockroach is now living its best life over in the woods and it better stay there.
Rodney: he should do something about this. And he will. Probably. When he's done watching it in horror and not moving an inch.
Isabel: tries to smash it, misses, enters rage mode. It will not escape her. She will be waiting (and reasoning out whether she has brought the cockroach with her snack habits or it's unrelated).
Spinder: concocting a plan to hit it on the first try with whatever is closest to him, but it vanishes while he's thinking about it.
Tristan: not at all worried about getting up close and personal with the cockroach but still having a bad time trying to catch it or even squish it.
Tatya: in true cowgirl fashion, herds it out the door.
Bo: is anyone looking? No? They grab it off the wall and stuff it into their mouth.
Nicea taglist: @kahvilahuhut @kingkendrick7 @outpost51

“It is better to know one book intimately than a hundred superficially” (Tartt, 31).
I am absolutely fascinated by the fame and reverence this quote from the Secret History has achieved. It terrifies me. Let me explain.
Who’s line is this? Oh, yes. Professor Julian Morrow. Julian, in his lecture on how death begets beauty, on how Dionysian madness lends immortality. Julian, who isolates the greek class, buries them in the glories of the past and in their privilege, and submerges them beneath illusions until his students can’t tell right from wrong and real from imagined.
These words are satire. This is NOT a lesson any teacher should impart, and should NOT be beloved and relatable. In one sentence, Donna Tartt summarizes the entire cautionary tale of the novel: the selective, warped, and obsessive view on life the greek class held, born from entitlement and cultivated by Julian, led the students to tear themselves to pieces.
What’s more, the way people quote it all the time makes this line all the more haunting. Widespread parroting of Julian’s teachings only reinforces Donna’s themes: human minds are easily manipulatable, it can be hard to think critically about what you are taught and what you read, and that the easy, self-assured conviction belonging to the reader that, “I, personally, would have behaved differently than Henry, Richard, Francis, Camilla, Charles, and Bunny” is nothing but another illusion.

[[ unplotted starter for @dccontramundum because Morse needs someone to marvel at his big beautiful brain and Julian needs someone to find out his secrets and not care. and they both need more kissing.
He was drunk. Both of them were, which was poor judgement if ever there was any, but Julian couldn't help it. Despite all his best efforts, Julian had been done for the moment Morse had first woken up clear-headed and said something brilliant, and it had only gotten worse from there. His hair and his eyes and his voice and the way he thought of everything, as simply and as perfectly as Julian did about his own field. He'd always fallen in love easily, and out of it almost as, but this... he'd fallen hard. And despite every resolution, he hadn’t been able to stay away. So now here they were.
Julian would like to say that it was a perfect romantic moment that swept him away. What it actually was was more ordinary and more special all at once. He grinned and he said, "You should sing more," and then he pressed close enough that they were breathing each other's air and when Morse didn’t pull back, Julian kissed him. Because at least this way, he'd get to taste a little bit of what they could be like before it somehow came crashing down on him.
And g-d, romantic or not, it was perfect.
