Could 1920s cars go as fast as showed in the pilot?
Also you deserve every amount of positive feedback and publicity you got for all the hard and vigorous amount of work you did, and your effort shows immensely
Thank you!
For the vehicles, well, it'd be hard to put a pin on exactly how fast they were going, but those particular models could get a move on, relatively speaking. We definitely treated them as more nimble than they actually were, though.
The Lackadaisy trio's Fordor is based on the 1928 Ford Model A. It's a bit of an anachronism, but only by a few months, as the car debuted in December of '27. The model had a 4 cylinder engine like the Model T, but saw a significant upgrade in horsepower from its predecessor. They were known to top out at about 65 mph.
The Marigold vehicle is based on the 1927 Cadillac Series 314A, with an 8 cylinder engine and more than twice the hp of the Ford. I've seen classic car aficionados saying they've been able to get them up to about 80 mph.
Possibly also of note is that gangs trafficking alcohol in that era were pretty well known for souping up their vehicles for speed. They would armor them too, to try to minimize bullet penetration.
