SHAKE IT OFF TURNS 10 TODAY!

[Lover Journal] LA. This week I've been in the studio with Max and Johan every day and it has been the most creatively successful and fulfilling time. The first day, Johan just made a really up tempo drum beat because we decided we needed something up and light. We worked at it for a few hours before i just started singing "shake it off, shake it off, shake it off" And then the best way i know how to describe it is that the chorus just fell out of the sky. It ended up being this song about doing your own thing even though haters are gonna hate, and you just have to dance to your own beat. We all went home and I wrote the first and second verses and brought them in the next day. We wrote this chanty cheer leader bridge that I absolutely LOVE. We spent all day doing vocals and the next day recording the background vocals. I think it'll end up being the first single and Max said it's his favorite song he's ever been a part of.

Walking around the paddock hand in hand with Pierre , you were very nervous.

First of all , it was his home grand prix and second of all , you were about to meet his parents for the first time.

Pierre sensed how tense you were so he gave your hand a loving squeeze “Relax amour , they will love you”

You gave him a tight smile and walked into the Alpha Tauri hospitality. You greeted Yuki , chatted with a few people from the staff and made your way over to Pierre’s driver’s room where his parents were waiting.

To your surprise , as soon as you entered the room you were welcome with a big hug “Oh y/n chérie , we are so glad to finally meet you . I’m Pascale” Pierre’s mum introduced herself.

“amour s'il te plaît ! laisse la pauvre fille respirer” love , please ! Let the poor girl breath , Pierre dad said. He extended his hand out to you with a big smile on his face “Jean Jacques but please , call me Jean”

You spent the remaining of the morning chatting with Pierre’s parents who as you expected were lovely people. Both of them were so kind and fun towards you , it made you feel welcome.

Right before he was off to practice , Pierre pulled you into the corner of the hallway “See amour , told you they would love you” you smiled at him “what do you think of them”

“They are amazing Pierre , amazing. No wonder they raised such a gentleman” Pierre grinned at you.

“I best be off. Good luck kiss ?”

So I’ve decided I want to look at places in New York. I know I went through this phase months ago, but it has to mean something that I’ve circled back to it, right? You know what they say, if you love something let it go and if it comes back … blah blah blah. So I’m leaving the day after tomorrow. Dating is awful. Love is fiction/ a myth. I’m over it all.

Jan 25, 2014- Los Angeles, CA

It’s the middle of the night and I was at the Clive Davis party tonight which means … the Grammys are tomorrow. Never have I felt so good about our chances. Never have I wanted something as badly as I want to hear them say “Red” is the Album of the Year.

Feb 22, 2014- Los Angeles, CA

So in the last few weeks, I’ve completely moved into my apartment in Tribeca. That’s right, I’m writing this from my new bed in my new place, watching Law and Order with Meredith. Strangely, I’ve never felt more busy.

May 30, 2014- Shanghai

So we got to China at around 2pm and I knew it would completely ruin me if I slept when I got to the hotel, so I decided to work out. WHY IS THIS PEN RUNNING OUT?! Just went to my purse and got my own pen. So a crazy story unfolded in the last 24 hours. Last night, I had this vivid dream where the photo I’d chosen for the album cover wasn’t good enough, intriguing enough, artful enough. It woke me up. I couldn’t shake it and it stayed with me all day. Because that nagging feeling I’d been pushing back for weeks was now confirmed in my gut … It wasn’t good enough. I went to the venue, mind racing, wondering if I’d have to do an entirely new photo shoot … I got to my dressing room with newer versions of the “cover.” I looked at it and felt nothing. The team pulled up this new scanned file of the Polaroids we had taken during the shoot. I saw within 10 seconds. The shot. The cover. It’s a Polaroid of me sitting against a beige wall with a blue seagull swear shirt on. You can see my red lips, but the photo cuts off my eyes. From some reason unknown to me, it’s the most intriguing photo I’ve seen. I think it’s the mystery of not seeing my eyes. Maybe it just looks effortlessly cool. The craziest moment came when something caught my eye. The cover photo is photo 13. I kid you not. I played a sold out show in Shanghai tonight and the crowd was amazing. Tomorrow we go to Tokyo, where they’ll have the whole ticker tape parade at the airport. Smile and wave … Taylor

did you ever imagine a random shitpost leading to you writing what has essentially become a romance empire?

LOL, sure as fuck didn't, although "random shitpost leads Sam into a weird new months-long rabbit hole" is not actually an uncommon occurrence for me. :D

I feel like somehow it might be weirder for the anon who sent me that ask that kicked it all off. For me it feels like I've just joined another fandom. Yes, on the one hand I'm the Word Of God and the only true source of new canon, but on the other hand once that basic canon was established -- once I had an essential cast of characters and a built world -- it got super easy to fuck around in it in the exact same way I would with, say, a fandom that's on extended hiatus. 

For me, writing new Shivadh books is very akin to what I've done in the past with Cartographer's Craft (a stand-in book seven before Deathly Hallows was written) or the Hiatus Continuations (filler while Heroes was on hiatus -- was that the writer's strike? Fuck I'm old) or post-movie fic after the first Avengers film. I’ve never found sequels so easy before, but then I’ve usually been looking at sequels to much more intense novels like Nameless or Dead Isle. The Shivadhverse isn’t...not intense, but it’s just silly enough that I don’t feel like I need to make anything deep. Twelve Points is actually probably going to be the deepest to date, in many ways, and it’s still like..

CONVERSATIONS WITH MYSELF: 

“Michaelis canonically has a very nice voice that he’s worked hard to preserve. He could have trained as a singer in his youth. I should have him at some point lead a chorus with some of the Eurovision performers.”

“That would be dumb and only really self-gratifying. You just like it when Michaelis is special.”

“Okay but...yes, that’s correct, and I’m the author. So I’m doing it anyway. He’s gonna sing a sea chanty and Buck’s gonna sing it with him. They’re gonna sing Mingulay Boat Song because I like it and I’m gonna put a verse in Shivadh.” 

“...sure, okay. Why not?”

END CONVERSATION, and then I wrote that scene.  

Anyway for that Anon who suggested it, they like...poked a beehive and a swarm of romance novels attacked. That must feel a little surreal!

I really do enjoy talking about various canons and headcanons on Tumblr, and I have fun too working on the new books and coming up with future plots. I may end up having to break off the Georgie/Monday romance for an entirely separate book, because the Royals And the Ramblers is looking to be a bit of a monster, and may be the first Shivadh novel that doesn't have a new central romance. Although between Gregory and Eddie's three separate weddings, Jerry and Alanna's ongoing "Why are we like this", and Michaelis and Jes navigating their newly blended family (plus an adopted granddaughter who is taking a while to warm up to Michaelis) there will still be plenty of romance. :D

I‘m not bashing your post. Neither am I completely disagreeing with you on the fact that something has changed. But I wanted to share my PERSONAL view of Damiano and his lifestyle/health. I love you and your blog so please don’t take this as me being an asshole I just wanted to chat to you about this. (Also high five bestie my dad and all men in my family are alcoholics and some are drug addist and everyone smokes!)

Damiano has for sure lost weight. I‘m sure it’s nit from drugs. He has said multiple that he doesn’t eat for a couple hors before concerts or performances in order to not throw up due to the exertion. And that he can’t eat after concerts because of the adrenaline and he feels like his stomach quote “closes“. When you are on tour and are performing most days of the weeks that means you skip at least one meal each day and with his schedule I‘m not surprised he’s lost weight. And that sucks. He needs a better and easier schedule and REST.

He also has changed with the new haircut. He looks very different. And another point is the makeup. Since our lord and saviour Chantal went on maternity leave Damiano‘s makeup has absolutely terrfied me. Their new makeup artist does his eyes very badly. He puts weird brow/red around his eyes and it makes him look half dead or high or seriously ill. It’s very strange because everyone else’s s looks are great and pretty similar to how Chanty used to do it but Dami’s looks are fucking weird. I hate it and it makes him look unwell.

Also I remember last year when they were in LA writing the album he posted a picture in Jeans and a Blauer that were very big on him and he rolled up the jeans and Giorgia commented something along the lines of “what’s up with the oversized clothes“ and he wrote “I lost weight their all too big now“. I believe he has great people around him and I also believe he is self aware. We know he used to be an athlete and is a very disceplined person. I think he is very tired and he has lost weight that is a fact. I also think the picture with nebuliser was meant as a weird artsy picture. He is resting it on a guitar stand because his voice is his instrument yk. That’s what I got from the picture. In their vlogs from 2018 you can see that he has always used nebulisers before shows. (Many artists do to keep the vocal cords and that whole area moisturised.) We also know that Damiano DELIVERS during concerts. When you are seriously unhealthy or extremely tired one of the first things to go is usually your voice and he hasn’t had any bug problems so far with his voice this tour. I thinks he is trying to take care of himself the best he can. (I know he should quit smoking though)

Also did you see all the skincare he travels with? That boy is a little granpa wellness king. I think he is ok. This European tour seems better as there time in between the cities for them to go home. Also Gio can be with him more and I think that helps him. He is also very close with hais parents as he said in multiple interviews and I‘m sure his Italian mom is raising all the concerns.

I do still agree he needs more rest always. And mayve I‘m totally wrong about all this. I just want to hear what you think ☺️

I’m not worried about Damiano’s weight and don’t think I ever have been. This anon that I responded to was, but no where do I agree with them.

Th first time I showed my mother a picture of Damiano she said “he has a face like a hatchet.” His face is very lean and angular, which happens when people are underweight but it’s just Damiano’s bone structure. He’s always looked that way. He’s also always worn brown or black under his eyes. I think if he’s started looking unwell recently it’s because he is.

Yes, not having hair to balance it out does bring more attention to his sharp cheekbones and jaw line. Regardless, his face is gaunt: dark around his eyes, no color in his cheeks. Undernourished, as in lacking whatever he needs to feel properly fueled for the day both emotionally and physically. (not as in body weight). Compare his eyes now vs. then. He can barely keep them open (like he’s exhausted, sickly, or dehydrated.) To be honest, he looks old and so does his skin. He’s aged a decade since his grandfather’s passing. (Which isn’t an insult superficial anons, it’s a concern)

Anyway he’s some pictures of him making this same exact expression in the past year for comparison. Thank you for being so decent and reasonable♥️ kindness is never wasted♥️ I hope Damia’s health is prioritized by the people with whom he’s signed contracts. I hope they see that people really care and will advocate for him.

A Hug

I am going to try and keep up with @writeblrfantasy's 12 days of writer's self-love. I am going to write short stories about my character Queen Fisher, which is inspired by Krew.io, an online game. Queen Fisher is also my username for a lot of social media platforms. The prompt for this first one is Hug.

A mysterious fog clouded the calm sea. There was no breeze to push the black sails of the Grumpy Potato. The small boat waded in the unknown waters as if it were a patient lion waiting for its next meal. Captain Fisher whistled a fine sea chanty while waiting for a fish to nibble her hook. Everything has been at a stalemate for almost half an hour. The humid, cool air curled her hair gently and damped her wings. The line on her fishing rod suddenly jerked tight and bent the rod. She quickly started reeling in the supposed catch and pulled out a six-inch smiling tuna. The slimy fish squirmed in her grip as she tossed it into the ice box.

“It seems I’ve been running a little low on luck now,” she told herself. “The fish keep getting smaller the more I cast the line, and the wind has been silent for a long time now; however, every little bit still counts.” In the blink of an eye, the wind picked up once again. She took a deep breath and let the breeze flow through her hair, letting out a great sigh. “Ah, there it is. Took long enough.”

She adjusted the sail and let it loose, increasing her speed. The wind whistled in her ears, and the fog slowly faded away. Seagulls flew alongside the starboard, freely gliding along the breeze. It was a peaceful little moment in the sea. Out of the blue, something heavy splashed into the water, causing the entire ship to rock violently in the current. The sound of cannon fire echoed through the air. She pulled out her eyeglass and faced the stowage. A small boat with black sails was slowly catching up to her. The men on board, however, were firing their cannons somewhere else. After angling the eyeglass, a large navy ship came into view. It was advancing quickly on both of them. Cannonballs had fallen upon the waters surrounding the Grumpy Potato from a far distance. Her boat is under attack, and there is little to no escape. She quickly steered to the starboard side and adjusted her sails in an attempt to leave the battle. The atmosphere became progressively intense with fear and death.

“GET THOSE SAILS ADJUSTED, YOU SEADOGS!!” a captain called out. The voice felt familiar to her ears and soul that it frightened her. “WE NEED TO LOSE THEM!!” Looking back at the battle, she could see the most dangerous pirate standing aboard the small boat. Captain Tango, captain of the Tango; furthermore, is notorious for his boat’s speed and firing distance to destroy anything in his path. His two whimpering seadogs were scurrying about the ship, trying to follow his orders as quickly as possible. The captain impatiently became furious and took over the situation.

“FINE!! I’ll do it myself!!” he shouted. Captain Fisher hadn’t realized they steered their boat toward her until they were speedily heading her way. She could feel her heart beating faster than ever as doom seeped into her soul. Before she knew it, the Tango glided right past her on the starboard side. Terror spilled over her face seeing the stern face of a legend. Captain Tango’s whispy black hair and dark chocolate eyes pierced her soul. His fedora stood fast on his head, and his bowtie flowed in the wind. “Load the cannons!”

“OH, HAVE MERCY!!” she exclaimed as she steered to port to avoid them. Captain Tango quickly moved the ship alongside the Grumpy Potato.

“FOCUS ALL FIRE ON THE TANGO!!” another voice called out. Captain Fisher looked to the port side and stared at the large boat in awe. It was the infamous RHS Gargantuan. Cannonballs flew over her sails as they targeted the Tango. The ship slowly drifted away from the Grumpy Potato as they prepared to fire. She quickly headed her way toward the Gargantuan for safety. Behind her, they shot a cannonball and nicked the stowage, sending wood splinters into the air. 

“Why did I have to end up in the crossfire?!” she exclaimed. A shadow cast over her boat, and she looked to see the Gargantuan sailing in-between her and the Tango. Upon the great ship, she could see the aarakocran captain shouting orders to his men. His dark grey, blue, and white feathers glistened in the sun, and his sapphire eyes shone in the shadow of his hat. She sighed in reluctant relief; after all, it was her half-blooded brother protecting her. He turned to look at her and gently smiled. ‘Oh great, he’s giving me that smug look again,’ she frowned.

“Do not worry, Queen,” he shouted. “You are now under the protection of the RHS Navy.”

“Thanks,” she responded unamusingly, “and it’s Captain Fisher to you!”

“Come on, cheer up!” he chuckled. “I’m your brother!”

“Correction: Half brother!” she interjected.

“Alright,” he shrugged. “Just stay behind us, and you’ll be safe.”

“Alright, King,” she sat down, folding her arms. Before returning to the battle, he looked at her with the smuggest facial expression. It continued for hours before Captain Tango finally retreated to the northern seas. King Fisher’s first mate, a dragon borne, looked at Captain Fisher and smiled.

“Are you the sister General Fisher keeps talking about all the time? Queen Fisher??” he called out.

“For the last time! It’s Captain Fisher,” she protested.

“A captain, huh? Where’s your crew?” he asked.

“They’re on vacation in the eastern islands of Fantasia,” she scoffed sarcastically.

“Haha, VERY hilarious,” he rolled his eyes.

“It’s been so long since you last treated me with such sarcasm,” King Fisher commented happily. “My crew have to leave for Halbird Island soon. Consider my heroism as a brotherly hug for old times’ sake.”

“A figurative one?” she responded questioningly.

“Did you want an actual hug from your loving brother?” he taunted.

“Don’t you dare touch me!” she scolded angrily. King chuckled before grabbing the brim of his hat.

“By the way, can you fly yet, or do you need flight lessons again?” he teased.

“Leave me alone!” she shuddered. “We both know that wasn’t a great experience!”

“Alright then… Farewell until next time,” King smiled. Captain Fisher adjusted the sail and sped away from the Gargantuan without saying a word.
