rediscovered something I wrote for a writing exercise ages ago; thought I'd share

              The sheer volume of chaotic destruction that echoed throughout the thin-walled apartment had propelled me out of bed and through two pairs of doors before I was even aware of being awake. There I was, blinking in the warm light of our dirty kitchen, glasses forgotten on my bedside desk, staring at the worst mess the poor room had ever been forced to suffer- a high bar for this particular flat -centred on my rather unbothered roommate and what remained of the complex network of runes she had haphazardly drawn up on a large sheet of paper. She got up and began to walk away.

              Now, I am a reasonable person. I have a functioning moral compass, and a code that I will adhere to. I will not resort to violence unless necessary. I will not escalate situations. I believe that murder is wrong. By all applicable standards, I am a Good Person. HOWEVER. Her guardian angel must have been present in that moment, because by Lady Death in her Pit I was absolutely prepared and willing to kill her on the spot.

              You see, my roommate works with runes. She calls it ‘coding with the very language of reality’, ‘writing contracts with gods’. Whatever. Not important. She’s a nerd, is my point here, and a particularly destructive kind of nerd. She doesn’t have a job, she just studies runes at a university two streets away, so she’s at home a lot. Where she tinkers with runes using half-learned techniques from whatever lecture she had slept through that morning. It really shouldn’t be hard to see the problem with bending the laws of physics in a two-bedroom apartment, but that doesn’t stop her and I’ve given up on trying to stop her myself, so all I can do is try to minimise the damage it causes.

              So, all things considered, I would say the blind rage this particular nighttime mishap sent me flying into was perfectly justified and rational, and the fact that my half-blind swipes at her only beat up our kitchen more is not particularly relevant. It hurt my hands too, so I think we can call that equivalent exchange. I think I handled it quite well, to be honest.

Not even able to post this because of individual carrerists in Costa Rica

Everything is getting to be a little bit normal, specially since this is my very same rhythm of work intellectually (various pages in just a few days). They're afraid of my online presence through Facebook, where I still have a ban, but with no wrongdoing by Facebook, but by these individuals from Costa Rica at the most chaotic academic statement ever seen in my own dear institutions: Fondo UCR, FUNDEVI and Universidad de Costa Rica. They're denigrating my work, and by doing that, all of the Universidad de Costa Rica knowledge and assets in the mixed sense of private and public administration, which is totally valid and helpful here, just as much as anywhere else, but with more individual exclusion, to say the least. This not on behalf of any other department, except the artistic and aesthetic one, just in case, to see if we can save some of the integrity of the University, and save it from this claws.

I'm glad we're writing more. I have been disconnected from the internet and writing a lot. I have a new one on academia.edu/EMora regarding Piaget and Lacan and medicine. 24 pages in 6 hours is not suspicious to anyone in science, or anyone with scientific knowledge, even less quoting yourself, specially if you don't have a team of researchers. That's what I wanted to say through my account, but these individuals simply cannot stop being jealous of knowledge, aesthetics and ethics, for some reason which is completely oblivious to me as a nerd, lol. :)

Series Review: Gen V is cynical, violent, authentic and honest

When we think of superheroes, the first thing that comes to mind is the classic pop culture icons, Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, X-Men, and many more, all of them have gone through changes throughout their history, They have evolved themselves to adapt to a more modern environment. Not everything has been said nor is it the end of an era that has been more than productive for the studios, whether they earn millions of dollars at the box office or are a complete failure, these films and television series are liked by everyone and everyone. Comics have been the main source of inspiration for these stories and these characters to become real on screen, in the very particular case of The Boys created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson came to give that dark and sinister turn to these heroes. As a television series in its 3 seasons, The Boys has been a success for its crudeness, its violence, for touching on political themes, the intrigues, and how well structured its characters are, this chaotic universe is completely apart from what we all already know. , where no one is all good. In 2023, The Boys franchise evolves with the development of Craig Rosenberg, Evan Goldberg, and Eric Kripke and serves as a spin-off of The Boys, based on the comic book arc of The Boys We Gotta Go Now, Gen V promises that nothing is what it seems.

What is the series about?

At America's only college for gifted teens, talented students test their moral and personal limits as they compete for the college's highest ranking and the chance to join The Seven, Vought International's elite superhero team. , when the school's dark secrets come to light, each of them must decide what kind of heroes they want to be. Interestingly, a spin-off is being made of a series that at the time caused a lot of controversy for being strictly for adults, its graphic and explicit violence brought more followers and alienated some more, there is no doubt that this work has evolved and now they present to a group of young people who want to occupy a place in this world either because they want to help people or to gain fame and money. This popular genre, whether in film or television, has come to saturate the general public for a few years now, the varying box office figures and the critical work on the failures of many franchises are what is most talked about on social networks, being DC has had the worst productions, while Marvel is already seeing the twilight of what was a glorious era for them. Since the premiere of the Prime Video series The Boys in 2019, it has managed to do something that other superhero movies or television shows had not even imagined, attracting more serious criticism and debates about the genre at hand. When it was announced in September 2020 that there would be a spin-off of The Boys, both fans and critics were surprised that this franchise could expand even further. Talking about a spin-off as such is not so easy if it is not They have things very clear because it is precisely at this point that other productions have had a resounding failure and proof of this is the various Star Wars series that Disney + has, this was planned to introduce us to new characters that "study" in a university. The above may sound very well known, but there was already a great cinematic failure in the X-Men franchise with the film New Mutants that promised to have a group of teenage mutants in an environment more of horror than adventure and that did not work, in Partly due to the numerous changes and the global situation that existed at that time, the truth is that what starts badly ends badly. Gen V is not only a series that promises to be spectacular but also wants to deal with other types of topics and the typical problems of a teenager in a university, we have the typical sports team with possible superstars, the pretty girl who is the handsome boy's girlfriend, the misfit, the nerd, the gay, the African American and all those clichés that we have seen thousands of times but the twist here is that they all have superpowers, we have the fire boy, the one who can control minds, the telekinetic, the who can become small, the invisible boy, the one who can change gender, the one who has super strength and the one who can control his blood and make it a weapon, yes, it sounds stupid but that's how it is and he is precisely the central character of this story. It all begins with a girl named Marie Moreau (Jaeda LeBlanc) who gets her menstrual period for the first time, surprised by not knowing what is happening to her, which seems very absurd if we take into account that we are in the 21st century. and he is even more so when his blood begins to float as if the substance had a will of its own, from this event what will happen next is even stranger and more violent, his mother on the other side of the bathroom door wants to enter to see what happens and by doing it by accident this tender and innocent young girl releases part of her blood, killing her mother and then doing the same with her father before the eyes of her little sister. This beginning is intended to be as shocking as the first minutes of the pilot episode of the first season of The Boys when A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) kills Hughie Campbell's (Jack Quaid) girlfriend, it is not surprising what we see if we already We know what things are about in this series, a violent beginning to give way to more violence is the charming thing about this show in which super abilities and the consequences that this can bring to normal people are involved in a very irresponsible way. We continue with Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) who is already a traumatized teenager who desperately wants to escape her past and become what she has always dreamed of, a superhero. After what happened to her parents, her sister is separated from her and adopted by another family. while having to deal with his acceptance to Godolkin University, a crime-fighting school that specifically houses students with superpowered abilities where they will be taught more than the basics and that is to understand and know how to use those abilities in the world around them. if they want to become the best. Gen V is not only the portrait of the trite and cliché-filled teenage student life, it is also the portrait of the emotional and, above all, social disorder that they face, going from being stupid teenagers to responsible adults, as is to be expected if we have a group such as the use of drugs, sex, more drugs and more sex but not everything is as it seems in this fantastic school on the night of her arrival Marie sees how the security personnel employed by the university take into their custody a young man allegedly drugged who uses his powers to take them all down and in the end, he is subdued and taken to another place, later it is revealed that this boy is Sam (Asa Germann) an essential character in the story, without understanding what he has seen. is overlooked until other mysterious events make her and her new friends believe that this is not an isolated incident and that perhaps these students are not the ones causing harm but there is something more going on. The plot begins to reveal the dark secrets and mysteries of this university, beneath it and in the basement there is an entire facility where problematic young people with emotional and mental disorders are held captive, they are potentially dangerous because they have super abilities, All this is out of the eye of the beholder in a facade made to distract the world's attention, it is not surprising that Vought International is the one behind all this, at the end of the day the supers are good business for the company and the whole world. Along with this, it is revealed that none of these young people were born with super abilities but that their parents injected them with compound V when they were born to follow a production line that guarantees that there will be supers in the world and which also ensures multimillion-dollar profits for its creators. When Richard Brinkerhoff, a renowned professor at Godolkin University and president of the Anti-Crime Department, informs Luke Riordan (Patrick Schwarzenegger) aka Golden Boy that he is already part of The Seven after the departure of Annie January (Erin Moriarty) aka Starlight, and Margaret Shaw (Dominique McElligott) aka Queen Maeve of the team, the company plans to revamp it and make this something new. A crazy night of drinking turns into a night of horror when the group attends a bar where Andre Anderson (Chance Perdomo) uses his magnetic manipulation powers to impress a girl, things get out of control when he fatally injures her. a woman and it is Marie Moreau who uses her powers to try to save her, thus being exposed, she is expelled from the university by Richard who in turn receives a visit from Luke who, using his powers, kills him and then causes a fight in the who finally commits suicide. Without intending to, Marie becomes a hero in the eyes of the public and her fellow students, becoming one of the most popular students overnight and becoming the first African-American freshman on the power rankings list. But not everything is what it seems. After that dazzling popularity, problems also come and of course, making enemies. When she attends an interview, Marie questions her integrity because she knows that she is not the heroine that everyone believes. She used this to stay and continue her training under the advice and tutelage of Superintendent Indira Shetty (Shelley Conn) who naively believes she can help her become what she most desires.

This is the premise of these 3 episodes that Prime Video premiered and they are:

You have been chosen to attend Godolkin University and will be delighted to be part of an unforgettable journey to discover what kind of super you are, since its founding in 1965 Godolkin University has had as graduates the best and brightest superheroes in the world! have met including three members of The Seven.

2. First Day. The Godolkin University Mental Health Hotline would like to remind students that they are not alone in this difficult time, you may be bulletproof and invulnerable on the outside, but on the inside, we understand how difficult it can be for a student to cope. Our caring staff is trained to address the specific emotional needs of superheroes and is here to help however you need it remember that if you need to talk to someone, help is just a phone call or message away. #GodCares.

3. #ThinkBrink. You're invited to the #ThinkBrink Memorial Fundraising Gala tonight at Godolkin University, be sure to dress your best to dazzle everyone with your red carpet presence, then join the world's hottest superheroes and celebrities to take selfies with them and upload them to your social networks while you drink a glass of champagne, we will have a moving tribute video to the legendary Professor Brinkerhoff featuring the participation of A-Train, The Deep and Polarity.

As the series progresses we can seem to move further away from its original concept and immediately take on its personality, although we meet several characters from this world such as the son of a bitch Homelander (Antony Starr) or the perverted and stalker Deep ( Chace Crawford) or the bold idiot A-Train here are not so necessary or basic, each character is designed to be completely independent. Directors Nelson Crag and Phil Sgriccia along with writers Craig Rosenberg, Evan Goldberg, Eric Kripke, Zak Schwartz, Brant Englestein, and Erica Rosbe are very clear about where they want to take things, to begin, this series is set parallel to the fourth season of The Boys that will arrive at some point in 2024, each character develops a very particular personality based on the violence or trauma that their powers have caused them, here the moral discourse as well as the student clichés are more than a shameless mockery, the same as the media and social networks, there are no messages that talk about love or friendship or companionship and much less about family values, here what is talked about is the manipulation of people among themselves and the means, what you are capable of doing to achieve an objective even if you have to kill a few people to do so. The series itself is so cynical that it mainly makes fun of itself, students who want to be superheroes speech that we already know from The Boys with Starlight who sooner rather than later realized that this fantastic world in appearance is shit in reality. the one that no one would want to be in, something that is not very far from the reality in which we live. Gen V as a series has important things in its favor, the first is the teenage drama very much in the style of Beverly Hills 90210 taking it to the extreme then there is that surprise factor that gives way to more moderate violence than we can expect, there is also the intrigue and the conspiracy of a multinational company that only manipulates people who try to help the world, something notable almost always happens throughout the first three episodes, its agile narrative and good direction prioritize the efficiency of what we are seeing, which is engaging. immediate to the viewer to want to continue seeing more of what happens. However, this series does not seem to be competing to be the best but rather for something equally difficult to do in a more than saturated medium and that is to successfully franchise a concept antagonistic to its franchise, it makes excellent use of its youthful cast and brings out the best in them and presents it in a way that could seem simple but is more complex than it seems and it is like that, both The Boys and now Gen V have extremely complex characters in themselves and how they interact with others, how They face the consequences of their actions and worse or better yet, it is what has given it that turn that we all wanted to see. But not everything is so good, although it has good actors and good action sequences with good special effects, some things get out of hand and that is the proportion and scope of the powers they have, for example, in episode 3 we see this girl who becomes small interacting with a normal-sized boy, it is impossible that a detail like this has been overlooked. It is the fact that for her everything would have to be gigantic and terrifying just as any sound would be magnified throughout. Is it his size, or is there the fact that in several shots of Golden Boy the fire emanating from his body looks so fake that something like that couldn't burn, his appearance is completely artificial, we could justify this by saying that it is a series of science fiction and that this is possible, and it can be like that, what is not possible is that they want to pretend that this is real when it is not. Its cast is made up of Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Shelley Conn, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Clancy Brown who have done a great job so far. The music composed by Christopher Lennetz and Matt Bowen also has a more youthful personality, something that is very in line with what we are seeing, a good work that can be appreciated in its best moments. In conclusion, Gen V is not just a youth series for adults, it is an example that a franchise can be successful if it is in the right hands and doing what it should do, risking everything to make more authentic and honest entertainment. I went to a creative writing session, and I’m pretty happy with what I ended up with!

              The sheer volume of chaotic destruction that echoed throughout the thin-walled apartment had propelled me out of bed and through two pairs of doors before I was even aware of being awake. There I was, blinking in the warm light of our dirty kitchen, glasses forgotten on my bedside desk, staring at the worst mess the poor room had ever been forced to suffer- a high bar for this particular flat -centred on my rather unbothered roommate and what remained of the complex network of runes she had haphazardly drawn up on a large sheet of paper. She got up and began to walk away.

              Now, I am a reasonable person. I have a functioning moral compass, and a code that I will adhere to. I will not resort to violence unless necessary. I will not escalate situations. I believe that murder is wrong. By all applicable standards, I am a Good Person. HOWEVER. Her guardian angel must have been present in that moment, because by Lady Death in her Pit I was absolutely prepared and willing to kill her on the spot.

              You see, my roommate works with runes. She calls it ‘coding with the very language of reality’, ‘writing contracts with gods’. Whatever. Not important. She’s a nerd, is my point here, and a particularly destructive kind of nerd. She doesn’t have a job, she just studies runes at a university two streets away, which means she’s at home a lot. Where she tinkers with runes using half-learned techniques from the lecture she slept through that morning. It really shouldn’t be hard to see the problem with bending the laws of physics in a two-bedroom apartment, but that doesn’t stop her and I’ve given up on trying to stop her myself, so all I can do is try to minimise the damage it causes.

              So, all things considered, I would say the blind rage this particular nighttime mishap sent me flying into was perfectly justified and rational, and the fact that my half-blind swipes at her only beat up our kitchen more is not particularly relevant. It hurt my hands too, so I think we can call that equivalent exchange. I think I handled it quite well, to be honest.

My Headcannons For Nanami Kento

As all know this man is a foodie. Love fresh bread and other baked goods.

He doesn’t watch TV, but dose watch the food network tried to learn new recipes. Goes in YouTube and watches baking  tutorials and tries to learn ways to cook. Nanami doesn’t watch any mainstream media however this man is secretly a huge Star Wars nerd. Watched all the movies, seen all the tv shows. He’s also watched the Mandolarian at least 3 times and has cried his eyes each time. Has a plushie of Grugo on his couch, and has some Star Wars poster hanging on his walls and some toys. His favorite book is the hobbit and dose enjoy the Peter Jackson films.

He reads a lot of books. Mostly science-fiction and Fantasy. His favorite book as a child was the Moomins that his grandpa would to him all the time. He was very close to his grandfather, he and his grandmother own a bakery, and teach Kento about baking and make him fresh baked bread, witch is way he has a fondness for bread.

Loves listening music. Love listening to LoFi hip hop, soft jazz. Dose love classic rock, his favorite band is Queen and has a huge fan of David Bowie, Prince and Nanami is a low key metalhead. Big fan of Linkin Park.But after a long stressful day of fighting and  exercising cures, doing endless paperwork and dealing with Gojo’s idiocy, Kento loves put off soft jazz have a nice glass of wine and just relax.

Has huge soft spot for animals, mostly cats and bunnies.

Totally had an emo goth phase when was in middle school. 

Knows a bit of Dutch.

He’s a plant dad. Has small garden in his backyard will with different types of veggies and flowers and it is his pride and joy. Only few people be trust to take off his plant children are Maki, Toge, Megumi and Nobara. Yuji killed at least 2 plates by accident so he’s banned, Panda has eaten some Kento’s plants so he’s banned as well and Gojo is forbidden to go near Kento’s babies. Those 3 are forever banned for going near Kento’s Garden.

Dose like black and white movies.

Dose drink fine wine and craft beer, went drinking with Gojo only once and never will do it again.

Since he started training Yuji the two became extremely close, and Yuji began to him as afatherly figure, Yuji is good kid, but Gojo is around it’s like dealing with two teenagers, one who is smart and willing learn everything and the other was… will an obnoxious idiot.

Cooks for Yuji will make him eat healthy food. Let’s face it Nanami has basically adopted Yuji and will make sure that he’s safe, to him Yuji is a child. As strong has has he is. Yuji is still a chide and Kento doesn’t want him to deal with trauma being of Jujutsu Sorcerer.

Nanami Kento’s ideal s/o

I can see him with both a Sorcerer or a civilian.

He would want someone his who is calm and down to earth. Someone who can work with him during those chaotic days when the sorcery world gets to much. He wants to someone who makes him feel normal. He will not tolerate someone who disrespected to him, or hurt Yuji or other kids that will be major problem for him and Kento will cut your ass if you try to him or the kids.

He would want someone who kind, upfront and honest with him. Someone who is can stand own ground and fight. The one thing Kento finds very attractive is someone’s will. This man will respect and fall madly in love you if you have an iron will and will keep on fighting no matter. If even if you ask for his if just picking a thing of milk or fight a powerful curse this man will being there beside you no matter what.

This man is extremely an overprotective lover. It doesn’t matter if his s/o is a stronger, this man will always worry about his lover’s wellbeing. He will never undermine his lover’s skills or abilities but if you need help in a fight he’s be there ready to battle by your side. If someone were try intimidate or try to attack his s/o Nanami set in and will beat the hell out of whoever dare hurt is beloved. He make look calm and cool inside but on the inside there’s an unholy rawr anger that would ravel the flames of hell it lself. After the battle with the cruse/evil sorcerer, and his s/o badly hurt he will bring to Dr.Shoko and he make sure that his s/o all take care of. Even if his s/o had minor cuts and bruise this his man will pick you up and carry all the way to the Shoko’s office. He’s a mother hen when it comes to lover’s will being. Will they are badly injured he would bring them food, make sure they don’t push themselves and if they called to a mission, he will step in tell they higher up that his s/o taking some sick days. If you have medication he will make sure that they take them. Will make that sure that they are not pushing themselves. And will personally tell Gojo fuck off if he’s annoying the living hell out them.

Also the like Satoru, Kento loves someone a sense of humor, but not Gojo’s humor. Someone who is quick witted, and clever. Too him intelligence is so fucking sexy. He wants to who can understand him. With the job that he dose office work or sorcerer like it’s both mentally and emotionally draining to him, he wants to someone he can relate to on personal and emotional leave. Someone to make feel a bit normal. Even for a little while. He wants to he can be vulnerable with, and just drop the walls that he has and just be human. The man wants someone kind, loving and honest. No bullshit just someone who is up front with him, no sugar coating anything, to him Kento that’s a sign of someone with this trust and respect.

He wants an S/O that that he can have same interest in him, or share of his or theirs him. He ideal dates are staying at home baking and cooking together, going a farmers market, a walk in the part, going an museum. Just someone who can enjoy the little things in life.

Being Married or having  domesticated like with Nanami Kento.

Husband 👏  material👏. This man was the perfect husband or partner. This man will bring you home flowers. What the  occasion? Who cares,  anniversary  birthday, or no Goddamn reason at all this man is a gentleman and always wants to let you that he’s always thinking you.

He wants to have a healthy relationship with his s/o, Communication is key. Whether it’s the Office job or the sorcery job this man will reach to his s/o let know that he loves them and is always thinking about them.

Hi favorite nicknames for his s/o are: Darling, Angel, sweetheart, dear and love.

His personal favorite nicknames his s/o calls sweetie, sweetheart, and secretly Nanamin.

If is s/o is away on a mission overseas he will help them back, go over everything things that they need or and would check to make sure that have everything. He maybe fussy but he just cares. He know his s/o can take care of themselves, but the man can help worried. He dose hate the idea of something happening to them not being their to help. He feels somewhat guilty for not being with them. If his s/o calls or text will stop what he is doing and would talk to when. Asking if they are okay, are the eating well and getting plenty of sleep. After a few weeks or a few months when will come back safe and sound, when Kento and his s/o are alone he pull them into a tight hug. He thanks his stars that they back in his arms safe and sound, and will take care them.

And if he gets hunts in a mission, his dose same thing for them, and will take care him and bring him food when. Little acts that means a to Kento. Just letting him know that his s/o cares about his and will always there he needs them.

The man loves the little things in a relationship. Cooking together, laughing and talk smack about Satour, and just feel a bit normal. With the life as a shaman, he just wants to be normal and feel like his life a bit more meaning. But with a loving partner by his side and sees him for who he is, and loves everything about, this man has no regrets.

I cannot think of a better account name to have asked this XD

The following recounts my disastrous teen experience with love and destiny, where I was simultaneously Adrien and Marinette (from Miraculous Ladybug) with a Love Destined By Fate(TM), and my own near-love-square identity shenanigans that were the result of a bunch of dominoes set off by watching Sailor Moon as a teen with that dang elevator scene and subsequent delicious angst @lnc2 reminded me of and drop kicked me back into ancient feels over XD

The dominoes started in 1998 when a friend remarked he liked Sailor Moon. I hadn't gotten into anime yet but I respected his opinions and art talent so I gave it a try. It was horrible! The first episode I saw was the theme park one where Serena and Rei are competing over Darien and it just seemed so ridiculous and juvenile. But boredom and afternoons spent with Cartoon Network brought me back to the show and the shenanigans eventually hooked me. I was also into the image songs and hollered along to the Kid Rhino CD.

At that time I was a Junior in high school (11th grade), and one year into a deep crush with the violin prodigy in my honors classes. My oh moment literally snuck up on me the year before in the art class we shared, while "All I Want for Christmas" was playing. Instead of "is You" my brain whispered "is Crush's Name" and my world came to a grinding halt as I froze then looked over at his table and went Oh Noes.

I had it bad. But like Marinette, I couldn't bring it up to him, I didn't have the guts. And when I found out he had a long distance girlfriend, I tried to backburner my feelings. But Fate kept throwing us together. We had all the same classes together except foreign language. We both had ADHD and had seriously chaotic ene-rivals-almost-friends energy together. We were born on the same day. In every math class our seating was right next to each other, despite taking place in two different rooms, being non-alphabetical, and changing up mid year. The universe was making sure this guy stayed stuck in my head, but I was too dang slow to make a move when he ended up single again. I'd had a love letter written in wingdings ready to attach to his locker with some chocolates for Valentines and I chickened out. Then he started dating The Most Perfect Girl (seriously she was amazing. Beautiful, Top Grades, Honor Society, Track Star, and Genuinely Nice). So I backburnered again. We graduated and went to separate colleges and I've only seen him once since, but he was still in my brain rent free until 2001.

Meanwhile I was also Adrien because it took me a damn decade or two to retroactively realize all the times a guy or girl was interested in me back then. I blame being a social outcast nerd and my inability to read social cues coupled with being conditioned to never trust anyone being nice (because it was usually a trick to go Ha Ha she fell for it).

I did finally date some in 1999 but it didn't pan out. My next relationship was in 2000 online, part of the Sailor Moon dominoes.

College in 1999 gave me Ethernet and SenshiTV.dhs, which had all of Sailor Moon from S3 onward subtitled in two part downloads. That meant I could watch Part A as Part B downloaded, then watch the second half of the ep while downloading the next Part A. I spent many nights not sleeping due to this, no regrets. I discovered the original soundtrack and supplemental image songs and fell in love with them. This transferred to the Ronin Warriors and Gundam Wing soundtracks, too. Finding music that wasn't a midi was trickier back then, til community College in 2000 when a guy pointed me to AudioGalaxy, a peer sharing site for any and all music.

Each genre or artist had its own message board, and I settled into the Gundam Wing Message Board where I met a lot of people I'm still friends with today, including @absentlyabbie and my Hub. The message board was a text based RP hub, a hodgepodge of fantasy and sci-fi from various popular anime at the time plus Just Plain Random. I ended up cyber dating one of my RP partners, and our character pairing was a popular one on the main non-Gundam RP. But after we met in person we just didn't work out, and I couldn't find any peace when I logged in to RP or join the board or AIM chats because our friend group kept bemoaning how OTP we were.

So... I made another login, complete with new AIM name, so that I could still hang out but be left to my own devices as I swore off men. Of course, as soon as I did, I was hit with another Oh moment with one of my friends in the RP group.

We were on AIM doing something and he used his lightning ability. My secondary character, Eve, went something weebish like "ooo, inazuma no karada". Then I realized I hadn't picked quite the right words, so I had my original account, Kitz, laugh at me and call me out for talking about Storm's naked lightning body.

Somehow after that we ended up together as Storm and Eve, both in RP and out, while I wingmanned for myself as his other friend Kitz (he was one of my supports and confidante after the breakup). We spent Thanksgiving together in 2003 when I was visiting my Aunt in his home state, then he moved in with me in 2005. We got married a bit later and have two kids together.

As an aside, our RP characters had twins, then months later his RL sister got pregnant with twins. A few years later our characters had another child... and so did she. We decided our characters were done having kids then, lol.

But yeah... because I watched Sailor Moon after randomly overhearing a friend mention it, I ended up overcoming my not-so-fated crush and have had a wonderful 20 year relationship with my best friend (we spent years watching the same shows together over the telephone).

On a different branch of those dominoes I also met @silentmagi and @brushfeathers-thoughts and was introduced to furries which is how I finally realized I'm Bi, Ace, and Nonbinary. But that's another story!

Now from another headmate (Braxen)

I have to know, do you think Hiro, if without his support group, would potentially have become a villain or done something different with himself. And would whether or not he went to school have potentially changed this as well? Would he have just gone to school then because he had to for the fact that he'd lied to his aunt or used this as an excuse to run off doing other things?

A great set of questions! In short: yes and no... it’s a maybe lol.

Now, this addresses one of my greatest appreciations to Hiro’s character. I’ve described him before as not being the “sterling knight” that Tadashi is. Hiro is more of a chaotic potential that benefits from positive direction. Though kind-hearted, his curiosity and ego can get the best of him. And his brashness can bring out the worst in him.

What’s interesting about Braxen’s question to me is that it’s answer varies in Hiro’s experiences throughout the BH6 timeline.

Without his support group, he falls prey to the fate of the two first main villains who parallel him: Professor Callaghan and Robert Aken. They are prime examples of when someone like him lack the support network and direction.

In the early part of BH6 timeline, without the nerd gang and Baymax as his support system, Hiro has been shown to be emotionally charged enough to pursue violent retribution against Callaghan. A mirroring of Callaghan’s own pursuit for Krei. But Callaghan is the extreme in that he seems to have shut out any support system to help him grieve because he seems to throw himself into his work rather than fully express his grief. Baymax and the nerd gang give Hiro that ability to grieve in its varying stages ranging from depression and anger.

Without that support system, Hiro’s desire for ending Callaghan is left unchecked. When he loses Callaghan, he still wants to pursue that end when he’s desperately trying to get Baymax repaired. And even in Hiro’s journal, he says, “We almost had him. We almost won.” He was on that vindictive path and we would’ve seen Hiro become the villain.

And again, Hiro’s unbridled intellect, while an incredible strength for him, becomes another possible failure point for him. It’s closely tied to his ego and hubris at worst, scientific curiosity at best. Like Robert Aken, without proper guidance and direction, Hiro becomes Icarus and very much will try to soar far too high to see what he is capable of even at his or others detriment (though not necessarily on purpose to harm anyone.)

Without his support network to now include Professor Granville... even a Hiro at SFIT could still become not necessarily a villain but rather a fallen or tragic hero. He could create things (and he has) that could harm others despite that never being his intention.

But let’s consider the other situations proposed in your question. Even without his support system (which in canon can be attributed to Tadashi, Aunt Cass, Baymax, the nerd gang, and Granville), Hiro being in SFIT is a potentially positive factor for him.

As I said before, there could be the possibility that he creates something dangerous that leads to tragedy. But overall! SFIT is a positive for him, even if he goes reluctantly at first just to make Aunt Cass feel better.

Hiro never felt challenged until the prospect of getting into SFIT, and gets further challenged in it. He needs that. But! Without that support system closely affecting him, I think he’d actually become someone very similar to Karmi who parallels him.

He’d become very prideful of his status, his ego would be unchecked. Being a superhero among a found family towards an altruistic cause tends to be more humbling and focusing his orientation towards others and not just himself.

Just my thoughts but again, it’s why I like Hiro’s character. He’s chaotic potential, under different circumstances without support and guidance, he could very well become a villain, a tragic character, an egotistical hero (a la Tony Stark style) or an even more cocky star prodigy.
