it's so interesting that christopher haunts the narrative, in spite of the manor's strict policy about the dead. you're not supposed to speak of those who have been disposed of and, if you're in the children's wing, you're not supposed to speak of those who have been invited (process which involves at least one death) either. before the margaret incident, they didn't even have anything vaguely resembling a funeral. as evelyn said, while someone is sick the relief team must try their hardest to save them, but the moment they die everyone must try their hardest to forget about them

and yet, regardless of which version of what happened to christopher they got (invited, failed unification, suicide), it seems nobody's able to stop talking about him. the moment kate leaves her room post debut it's impossible to escape mentions of his name, like he's a spectre looming over the place. barbara constantly compares herself to him and wonders what he would do in her place, while the adults deliberately use his memory to manipulate her. edward, eileen and gerald occasionally drop his name in conversation, even if it's in a bad light. the moment kate wins the star bearer election, the crowd cheers calling her "the second coming of christopher". anthony and lewis seem to be trying to make a whole new cult around him

and he's been dead for years

even characters who are still brainwashed and devoted to the shadows house can't help but speak of him, when according to the rules of the manor there should be no memory to bring up in the first place. it's like he inspires dissidence from beyond the grave

you know the lore of a story is wild when there's a part of you that believes your crack theory might be true because of how crazy it is.

what if somehow chistopher did actually complete the unification process and is just pretending to be anthony for some reason?

is it satisfying? no does it make sense? no is there any foreshadowing for it? no are there reasons why it's 100% not true? also no!

maybe christopher just became a 'dissident' and since they don't want it to get out someone's literally escaped the manor (as far as they know), the adults would cover it up. that takes care of that contradiction of them saying he 'failed' (which is a lie anyways).

i don't actually believe it, i'm just so damn confused about what anthony's deal is that at this point anything goes.

he's obviously(??) on the 'good' side, but he's not even going about it an anti-hero way, he's just being as sus as possible for no reason.

he literally dumped his backstory on kate and then when she asked more questions noped out in the most overdramatic fashion, and he has the gall to go "she'll turn around and follow me someday"
