Dazai laughs, which is enough of a response, and Chuuya rolls their eyes. But it’s too late to back down now. Besides, they’ve done worse things than tracking Kunikida down while he’s in the middle of a case just to give him flowers.

(Well…Chuuya is giving him flowers. Dazai just wanted to be annoying.)

“C’mon,” Dazai grabs Chuuya’s hand. “He’s just around the corner.”

And then he’s dragging Chuuya to confront their condemnation, which is Kunikida in the middle of discussing a recent string of break-ins with the police. The tiger kid is there too, because the Agency doesn’t typically send its members out alone, but Chuuya hardly registers that because as soon as Kunikida spots them, Dazai drops their hand and runs towards Kunikida.

“Kunikida-kun!!!”

“What—” He drops his notebook, lunging forward to catch Dazai before he falls since he really should not be running on his leg. Especially after they had to walk three blocks here from the train station.

Chuuya shakes their head as Kunikida scolds Dazai for being so reckless. They make their way over to the two, picking up Kunikida’s notebook and brushing it off before holding it out to him.

Kunikida accepts it with a pointed glare. “What are you two doing here?”

“We missed you!”

“And I brought flowers.” Chuuya holds the bouquet out as well.

“We brought flowers,” Dazai corrects. He’s still leaning against Kunikida rather than using his cane.

“No. I bought them, so I brought them.”

Kunikida sighs deeply. But he takes the flowers, and there’s a smile playing at his lips, so Chuuya knows he isn’t really upset.

omg this one is so dumb iuhgytfrdfyguh so, basically, dazai does something (idk what yer) that mildly inconveniences chuuya (aka ruined his entire life), then chuuya runs into kenji while walking and...

And then… and then Chuuya was struck with an awful idea. An awful, horrible, fantastically hilarious idea.

“Hey, kid,” he began, a wide grin slowly stretching across his face, “The Port Mafia and I are actually having a party at my apartment. Nothing big, just wanted to have some fun. Why don’t you join us?”

Kenji beamed. “Really? It would be okay even though I’m from the agency?”

“Of course! You know, you’re actually our favorite agency member, so everyone will be glad to have you there!” And that wasn’t a lie—everyone in the Port Mafia couldn’t help but fall for Kenji’s charm.

“And it’s okay that I’ll miss work?”

Chuuya slung an arm around Kenji’s shoulders, beginning to lead him in the opposite direction of the agency. “It’s no big deal. I’m very close friends with Dazai, so I’ll send him a text.”

“Wow! Okay!”

and then chuuya leaves kenji's hat and a vaguely threatening note outside of dazai's door and takes kenji to a party that he totally made up and now had to host (but hey, anything to piss dazai off) so then dazai sees it and loses his mind and says something like, "i'm usually so attuned to the port mafia but i don't what game they're playing right now" so everyone except ranpo goes to storm the port mafia headquarters and ranpo just laughs at them bc they're dumb and Clearly kenji is at chuuya's apt and went there willingly and this was all a ploy to mess with dazai but no one bothered asking ranpo for help! and then ranpo is like "hm i am out of snacks here... there's prolly snacks at the pm party... imma go join them" and just chills at the party lol

He’s always prepared with a thousand excuses for any slightly odd behavior; it’s part of his job as an undercover agent. And yet, try as he might, he cannot find anything to say. Maybe because of how Gin phrased it: You really think you can lie to me? Because all Michizou has been doing for the past four years is lying. Everything about him is a lie, a facade, a character he made up for the sake of infiltrating the mafia. He is a lie himself. Of course he thinks he can get away with fibbing; it’s what his entire time in the mafia has been built on. “Tachihara-kun,” Hirotsu says. His voice remains too kind. “You do not need to be vulnerable right now, but understand that both myself and Gin-kun will listen when you are ready to talk.” And— Oh. They aren’t suspicious. They’re worried. Michizou turns away, guilt solidifying like a rock in the pit of his stomach. “Yeah,” he responds, his voice rough. “Thanks.”
