Dryclean Only Magazine: “Do you think clubbing or nightlife can contain a spiritual dimension?”
DJ SPFDJ (aka Lina Jonsson): “I used to think spirituality was religion or esotericism but spirituality to me now is more about connecting with one’s own inner world. In this sense clubbing can most definitely contain a spiritual element, I am myself but one example of people who have found this connection to themselves through nightlife, by disconnecting from distractions of everyday life or old coping mechanisms and using my senses to feel and ‘just be’. There is something truly special about experiencing this state of mind surrounded by people also consumed by their physical senses, like some form of togetherness in spirituality similar to how I imagine people sitting quietly next to each other in a church would feel.”
Tuesday 23rd January 2024 - Let Loose after Studies
So I was reading The Clubcultures Reader: Readings in Popular Cultural Studies tonight and the next few pages consist of photographs of people going crazy in various nightclubs. This page right here…
Me on a Friday night🤣🤣🍾
British Marky Mark and a gay skinhead enjoying themselves - LGBTQ humour ftw🤣🤣🤘🏻
Jimi Hendrix posing whilst an unknown man gets creepy; okay???
The last two shots were about celebrating independence and self acceptance in the nightclub as a means of letting go of the past:
RAVE SEASON🥳🥳😎
I love books like this. They have pictures of real life people going to local nightclubs and having fun with themselves. Why can’t my Friday nights be like that? Maybe I am too vulnerable to get drunk and dance to the hottest tracks the DJ has to offer.

The Rhythm of the Night
11.11.2022 - 10.04.2023
Frans Hals Museum HAL
Photo’s by LNDWstudio
The Rhythm of the Night is an ode to the night and clubculture in video art with works by Wu Tsang, Anne de Vries, Rineke Dijkstra, Tianzhuo Chen, Kimberly Clark and Matt Stokes. "Surrounded by gyrating bodies in a dimly lit club, dancing until the sun comes up. Anyone who’s ever been there knows what it’s like to lose yourself in the music and merge with the crowd. In the night we can express ourselves in ways we can’t during the day. The night is a haven for experiment and creativity, for freedom and solidarity worldwide. And a huge source of inspiration for video artists.”

Wow! This was a very special Soulful House production for me. It sort of summed up my love for the craft. It took me several months to find a great label for the initial release. I am thankful to the great Enrico Ferrari for signing me to Italy's Traktoria Records. Some of my favorite labels made me an offer, but I am glad to had made the right, instinctual choice. Thank you Enrico! I can't believe that this track has benn licensed to 5 compilations since the original release with this compilation by Enrico aka Black Legend being the the latest. Hmm! Thank you so much for spreading my vision!
The Yes No Quality Of Dreams 1988
David Robilliard
The Yes No Quality Of Dreams is a collection of David Robilliard’s works, who during his life decided to depict his fantasies and experiences through poems and paintings as an HIV-infected homosexual in the 1980s. In each artwork it is visible the influence of the London’s Gay clubculture which is highlighted by joy and optimism, but at the same time also full of melancholy and sadness.
