you're so right, he's so grumpy on the exterior but a total sweetheart on the inside :") he would go to the ends of the earth, do anything to keep the smile on his family's face. and you can catch snippets of it in the show, how fatherly he is to spencer. how gentle he speaks to beth (should have been me 😠), how he jokes with rossi, how he sometimes flirts a little with emily 👀, how kind hearted and reassuring he is to garcia and morgan. and how he still has so much respect for haley. before she died, even after she stomped all over his heart his respect never once wavered. what i would do to be in haley's position just oNCE!!!

i think that's what makes his character so lovable, you wouldn't expect him to have such a massive tender heart under all the tough exterior 💙

okay SO i didn't post anything since s12 e20 bc i watched the following three episodes with my sister and oh. my. god. i have so many thoughts

spencer stabbing himself in the leg was a little bit iconic, especially his lil smile he gave Shaw after doing it good god im a simp

CAT coming back and being behind it all along with the other girl (i forgot her name), but the little imaginary scenarios cat was conjuring up with her and spencer had me feeling things oh my god... i could take them both (not in a fight)

stephen dying was def sad but i kinda never felt too strongly towards stephen so i didn't cry or anything, i wasn't SUPER affected. but def still sad.

the prison arc had just ended when suddenly Scratch was at it again talk about not getting a fucking BREAK - s13 e1 was basically the actual last episode of s12

BUT im so relieved they finally caught scratch so that they can all get on with their lives.

now im taking in post-prison reid in all his glory, hair looking its absolute best, the stubble that he's decided to keep AND the suits.. yeah to say im enjoying myself is an understatement. when says to emily that he wanted to kill Scratch bc he hurt emily yeah i blushed and giggled, im only a girl

I do not like cross-fandom fics or crossovers in general but,, BUT,, if it happened to be X files and Criminal Minds (and mayhaps Supernatural 👀👀), I would read it SO quick. And bc Mulder used to profile serial killers under the behavioral science unit at Quantico, it would be PERFECT BASIS FOR A CM CROSSOVER!!! Ex profiler teams up with current profilers for a case that involves and/or could count as an X file?? OHH unsolved serial killing case re-examined and discovered to fit with an X file so both teams called in?? And along the way they find brothers Sam and Dean suspicious and they seem fucking crazy but Mulder and Scully are like "no wait,, wait,, 🤨🤨🤨 they've got a point" and the bau just like ??? Cause these people seem batshit insane cause they're talking about monsters and aliens, but it works!!! And the criminal is under some other worldly influence, but that's just how it goes. Ohhhh, Mulder and Reid would love and hate each other bc they'd find the other so interesting and funny even, but they'd disagree on everything. Scully and JJ would be good friends, I think. Ahh this is turning kinda cringey I apologize but I've been thinking about this for a while hahah (I just started s2 of X files and s12(?) of CM)

i’m a bit curious to know what you think about emily leaving for london if hotchniss actually happened in cm. Like idk if this makes sense but i feel like in the last scene of episode 7 we see emily looking at her friends dancing, kind of like being outside looking in, we see everyone dancing/ sureounded by their partners and she is alone. I feel like it was a believable thing that she chose to move. But i cant help but think that if Hotchniss happened and if someone noticed her struggling and actually done something about it, she wouldn’t have to go away to heal. I feel like if she had aaron/ a relationship/ a purpose maybe?!? (not to say that a relationship gives you purpose in life, but i mean it more of like a future), i feel like emily would have stayed. I think that not having a future in her actual life made her look elsewhere, because she could only see the hurt in the place that she once called home. Idk what im trying to say with this, im just delulu and i believe that hotchniss should’ve happened so i guess im just curious to see your take on it

Yeah so this is what I'm building towards with the S7 fic I'm writing (I'm sorry if you're the same anon I keep linking this same fic to lol, it's hard to tell with anons!)

I think she felt like she didn't have a place. Like she didn't feel like she could fit back into her old life, but she also hadn't built anything new. I think a relationship between them could've been a Something New that made staying worth it, despite the pain and discomfort of rebuilding.

I think Emily defaults to running away and starting over when things get messy or difficult. It started with her parents moving her around as a kid, then she did the kind of work where you get pulled out and erase that whole identity... Then quitting when Strauss asked her to spy was what won her Hotch’s trust, then being sent to Paris saved her life, then walking away from Paris to come back to DC... Running and starting over is what she does. She does it again to come back to the BAU in S12, and nearly does it again to protect the team from Barnes in S13. I understand that in the context of writing Paget out, the writers did their best to sell it as necessary for her growth this time, but it wasn't.

Each time we see someone ask her outright to stay, she stays. She wants to know someone is fighting for her the same way she fights for everyone else.

So yeah. I don't think it was ever going to happen in canon because of the limitations of the writers and the format and whatever. But I think you can make a compelling argument (and I plan to loool) in fic that London was not inevitable - she can see that job offer on the table and make the choice to stay in DC, and that can be a healthy choice for her.
