[ID: an illustration of a brown jellyfish on a blue starry sky background. It has darker compass shaped markings, and long tentacles, and it is drifting to the left. There is a glowing moon in the background. End.]
having grown up on the beach, whenever I see a jellyfish on the sand I am compelled to touch it (like I am compelled to test the salinity of a body of salt water using my... tongue..... lol). if u were with me today I would have insisted you also touch it. I compared her to a cannonball, others refer to them as cabbageheads (stomolophus meleagris), but all I really meant by that is that I couldn't see tentacles that extrude like strings beyond the cap. HOWEVER that sea kelp-like string there is actually part of the jellyfish. see below for more about her!
This is the most fun I've had drawing in a while! Doing nerdy shit like this is my lifeblood fr. Yeah I know most jellies don't have eyes but some do and that's a good enough excuse for me to slap 'em on everyone
Trying to draw daily so hopefully will be more regular output from me! Can't promise anything though, you know how it is >:P
Merm anatomy makes me question something new everyday. Studying Specter gave me more questions than answers, and it frustrates me deeply. Specter is a Purple Ghost. There is little evidence of bones, no obvious sensory organs other than their tentacles, not even much of a brain, little to no sexual dimorphism... why does it resemble humanoids at all? Why do any of them do?
