24 Tracks of my absolute favorite songs and artist from the first year of the 2020's. Meant to be played in order.

Alchemist & Freddie Gibbs-God is Perfect: Track 2 and the most hard-nosed track from Freddie Gibbs and Alchemist's acclaimed album Alfredo. Alchemist's beat is menacing and hypnotic, Gibbs's rapping is nimble, and his lyrics are as cold-blooded as you'll hear from him, not to mention the hook is a bit of an earworm.

Westside Gunn- $500 Onces ft Freddie Gibbs & Roc Marciano: My favorite track off what is Westside Gunn's best project in Pray for Paris. Produced by Alchemist, whose beat is a perfect mixture of classy and sinister and the perfect for street-wise MCs to speak to their lifestyles. All have great verses here, with Freddie and Roc shining on the track.

Conway The Machine- Dough and Damani: Produced by Alchemist, he laced the fourth track off Conway's from King to a God, with one side feeling light and opulent and the other grimy and hard-nosed. Conway's normal, braggadocious, somewhat humorous, and always street-oriented style carries the track.

Benny The Butcher-Legend: Produced by Hit-Boy, the Buffalo rapper self-cements his legacy on the triumphant track. He touches on making to where his from where he came also, makes references to himself, and compares himself to NBA legends. It's one of the best tracks on Burden of Proof.

Princess Nokia- Wash & Set: On this track, Princess Nokia faces adulthood head-on. She speaks to the weight of dealing with taxes, rent, and college debt and melancholically reminisces on the more innocent times in childhood. It's a wildly relatable track to me.

Logic- Dadbod: My favorite track off Logic's album No Pressure. It is a track with a smooth jazz-rap feel that speaks to Logic, maturity, fatherhood, and the beautiful mundane minutia that comes with it. It's one of his sharper hooks on that project.

TOPS-Colder & Closer: A brisk synth-pop tune from indie-pop/dream pop band TOPS off I Feel Alive. It is a song about nostalgic love that looks at you with rose-tinted glasses, and no matter how things go, they can't get over you or vice versa. The relationship grows colder, yet they get closer. Great track.

Megan Thee Stallion-Captin Hook: A high-octane raunchy track from Megan The Stallion off her EP Fever. Megan speaks to taking the dominant role and getting what he wants out of any situation, sexual or otherwise. Her flow is sharp here, and her charisma is always magnetizing. Liljumadethebeat does the Beat it's interesting; it's has a thumping bass and bounce and sword slice through it that gives it punch.

City Girls ft Doja Cat-Pussy Talk: A catchy tune from Miami Duo the City Girls with help from Doja Cat. It's a 3 verse track about how money Will go long way toward sexual advancement with them. Jt has the best verse here, and Yung Miami's hook sells the track.

Cardi B ft Megan Thee Stallion-Wap: "Wap" A sex rap anthem by two of the biggest personalities in rap. It's fun, funny and was surprisingly a little controversial in the summer of 2020. The best verses belong to Megan, who's just a more fluid flower than Cardi(not that Cardi doesn't do her thing on the song). I really like the beat and sample choice on the track produced by Ayo the Producer and Keyz. It's a joyously raunchy tune that holds up today.

Noname- Song 33: On much more grounded and serious areas of Summer 2020, you had the back and forth between J. Cole and Noname. This was sparked in the wake of the tragic events of George Floyds murder as Noname got on Twitter to criticize rappers who speak on black struggles in their music but were silent online during the protests. This prompted a response from J. Cole, who was essentially saying he wasn't as deep and educated as people may think and that instead of criticizing, she could be helping him to find a way. Hence we got Song 33, a rebuttal to the notion J. Cole even decided to write a song about her in times like these when there were bigger issues.

Princess Nokia- Just a Kid: Princess Nokia recounts the childhood trauma she experienced, going from a broken home to foster care to eventually being abused by her caretaker. It's a dark track that's sure to be relatable to those who go through similar issues.

Lady Gaga-Stupid Love: "Stupid Love" is a big booming pop song from Lady Gaga off one of her best albums in Chromatica. Produced by Bloodpop, it has a hard-driving beat, Gaga's typical dramatic flair, and a catchy hook. It's one of the better pop songs of 2020 and, to that point, one of the best from Lady Gaga in a while.

Drake & Future-Life is Good: Released at the top of 2020, Drake and Future's "Life is Good" kicked the year off properly with a track that felt two bangers stitched together to create a whole banger. The first side is Drake's who comes in a smooth, nocturnal beat as he speaks to grinding, considering his 2018 L an inconsequential slip-up and other braggadociousness. Future, as you'd expect, takes you right to the trap, speaking to drug dealing, guns, promethazine and Percocet consumption. Both are on point here.

Future & Uzi Vert- That's It: One of the most fun songs of that year and one the best on Future and Lil Uzi Verts joint album. This is because Future is so passionate on this and so serious about being the flyest in the game on this. Not to mention he finds a perfect groove and melody on this one.

Lady Gaga & Arianna Grande-Rain On Me: Such a great pop duet between Gaga and Grande here. Arianna brings smooth-tinged vocals, and Lady Gaga brings the concept and is also strong vocally. It's a great get-through-it song that says, " hey, things aren't perfect, but I'm still here and pushing forward. I love it.

TOPS-I Feel Alive: I love the warmth of this track; it's a warm Sunday morning of a track. It's a Dream pop track about what it feels like to be in love. Lead vocalist Jane Penny is great on the song and switching her pitch on the record.

Megan Thee Stallion-Circles: The second track on Megan Thee Stallion's debut album and one of the better songs on the album. She speaks to haters she got and addresses things that happened between her and rapper/singer Tory Lanez. I like the production on this one Prod. Cool N Dre & Rick Starr Did.

Freddie Gibbs & Alchemist- 1985: 1985 is the opening to Freddie Gibb & Alchemist's Alfredo. It's a great tone setter with those epic guitars and light percussion giving Freddie Gibbs a space to be gangsta Gibbs as Freddie Speaks and referencing Michael Jordan's 85' team being reported as a cocaine circus. Gibbs flow is great here, it's an essential listen on Alfredo.

Westside Gunn-Shawn Vs Flair: From the Premo produced beat to the Prodigy sample opening up the track, the song screams 90's east coast boom bap nostalgia. It's great, at once artistsy and gritty.

Mozzy-The Homies Wanna Know: Mozzy gets reflective and speaks to the reality of the streets and checking those who may or not be of the life comes of the weight of what comes with being a part of it. It has a chill piano laden backgroud I've always enjoyed.

Westside Gunn Ft Benny The Butcher & Conway The Machine: Daringer went crazy productionwise on this one. Beautifully methodical and dark beat here. Griselda could do no wrong in 2020. Benny, Conway and Westside on a beat in 2020....*Chefs Kiss*.

Freddie Gibbs & Alchemist ft Conway The Machine-Babies & Fools: A Smooth beat from Alchemist lays the canvas for Gibbs and the Machine to wax reflective about their past, they sound like uncles at the cookout just trading stories about how their past and how it effects them now. One of my favorites on Alfredo.

Conway The Machine ft Westside Gunn & Benny The Butcher- Spurs 3: Beat Butcha cooks up a beat that feels methodical almost meandering really but it's brooding enough to work for me. Conway and Westside are nice here but I like Benny's verse the best he brings the agression the track needs.

Currently Watching: The Last of Us!

Currently Consuming: this will probably come as a shock to everyone but critical role campaign 2 is eating me alive rn I just finished ep 49 and am unlocking new emotions on a daily basis <33 It's still gonna take me like 9-12 business months but the second I can unfilter the tags I'm going to become UNTHINKABLY obnoxious about it :) Also I'm 23 eps into a magnus archives relisten which means it’s Martin time!!!

Currently Craving: ohhhh you know those trader joes giant chocolate bars. They have a kind w pretzel bits in my hometown tjs but not here and I could kill for one of those rn I think

I have no idea what I’m even doing anymore, but I got to episode 33 and absolutely had to draw out Sassy Caleb, who has finally HAD IT with these tower shenanigans.

I honestly find it endearing how he’s finally comfortable enough with the group to sass at them, or at least at Beau and Fjord. You know what that is? Growth.

A Jikook Guide to RunBTS: 102-111

It’s been a minute! No, I haven’t abandoned this project - I’ve just been dealing with real world stuff at the same time as I’ve been working on my fic, which is wrapping up this week. It’s also been kind of strange to me to have gotten to this point in doing the Run episode write-ups, as 102 was the first episode of the show I ever watched.

With no further ado, let’s get it!

Ep 102 “King of Avatar Cook Part 1” (Ep: 4 / KM: 2)

The ones where Suga nearly cries over mixed up salt and sugar

6:44 - When JM beats JK in rocks paper scissors, JK "snips" Jimin's rock with his fingers and then moves his other hand to hold JM's hand for a moment (as seen in the Behind) Amusingly, no one except the editors seem to notice that JM only won by straight-up cheating and changing his answer to match Hobi's while everyone was looking at JK.

32:32 - JM touches JK's back when he first comes into the kitchen to taste the food JK helped make.

33:01 - After JM tells Hobi not to fill up on the other team's food, JK says Hobi should eat more and JM scolds him not to play dirty while wagging his finger at him. JM says to play fair and JK shakes his hand.

33:28 - JM and JK stand super close together to take the last of the food they want.

BEHIND 2:26 - After joking that he wanted to change teams, JM says that JK is always confident about his cooking and that he thinks JK will be good.

4:24 - Longer take of the 6:44 moment where you can see JK quickly holding JM's hand after rocks paper scissors.

5:03 - JK tattles on JM for looking at the recipe on his phone and says they should take points off for doing that.

Ep 103 “King of Avatar Cook Part 2” (Ep: 4 / KM: 1)

6:16 - JK laughs and claps like it's the funniest thing ever when Suga instructs JM to stand still with his hands clasped and JM does so.

7:05 - When JM keeps pretending Suga is instructing RM to do stuff like say JM is handsome and be nice to him, JK says "Look, look, he's saying weird stuff!" and laughs with JH about it.

9:01 - JK once again laughs at JM being silly like it's much cuter and funnier than it is.

27:04 - Same here.

Ep 104 “Photo Exhibition Part 1″ (Ep: 4 / KM: 3)

The one where everyone except Jimin is a little afraid of JK

All - black & white couple <3

2:24 - The guys are playing a musical chairs-type game and, twice, other members talk about how they're scared of getting hurt because JK is big and competitive. At this moment, JK and JM go for the same mat and JK wins. JM sits and leans back against him. As Hobi and Suga talk about how scary JK is, JK is smiling and putting his arms around JM while JM hums and smiles at the camera.

9:01-9:16 - Somewhere in here, JM uses the opportunity of RM getting up to select his clothes to shift his seat so that he's sitting next to JK.

10:44 - When JK is looking for a belt, JM helps him out by suggesting he make one with one of the pieces of clothing he's holding.

11:06 - Probably nothing, but Hobi suggests out of nowhere that JM go for the "boyfriend look" with his outfit.

Ep 105 “Photo Exhibition Part 2″ (Ep: 3 / KM: 2)

The one where everyone finishes their outfits and takes pictures of each other

5:37 - JM asks JK to look at the pants he made, seemingly searching for a compliment, which JK dutifully gives him.

11:47 - After JM gets the capital of Mongolia right, JK asks how he did it and comments that JM is full of surprises.

29:48 - JK helps JM tie on an accessory. Didn't want to not include this moment because it's cute, but it should be noted that JK is in the role of JM's "stylist" and that's why he's doing it.

32:52 - When V takes a pic of JM from the back, Suga says he can't tell if it's JM or JK (despite them having totally different outfits, different hair colors and cuts, and generally looking nothing alike...)

BEHIND 7:36 - Another angle of the 29:48 moment

Ep 106 “Photo Exhibition Part 3″ (Ep: 3 / KM: 3)

The one with the now-infamous photo of Jimin

4:20 - JM compliments JK's photography skills and shakes JK's hand when he returns from taking RM's photos.

6:57 - While the others are looking at Suga's pictures of JK, JM asks JK to take pictures of him (and licks his lips while doing so).

7:18 - JM is continuing to pose for JK, this time on all fours looking back over his shoulder. JM will claim half a minute later that he was going for a "werewolf pose"... but, really?

28:45 - When the others are criticizing JM's photo, JK comes over and puts his hands on JM's waist. The camera pans away immediately.

35:56 - JK ends the episode joking about the "new actor" photo he took of Jimin.

BEHIND 5:58 - JK takes everyone’s favorite photo of JM.

Ep 107 "BTS Game Scouts Part 1" (Ep: 2 / KM: 1)

The ones I’ve watched twice now and still can’t follow, but the guys seem happy

4:56 - JK calls Jimin "Jimin-ssi" and tells him to start drawing.

11:27 - JK does so again when it's JM’s turn here. BEHIND 6:01 - JM tells JK he's right behind JK in the score in a flirty tone.

Ep 108 "BTS Game Scouts Part 2" (Ep: 2 / KM: 1)

11:20 - When Jimin gets a purple reward, he starts repeating "boarahae" and JK joins in by singing it.

26:38 - J-Hope accidentally says "Jungkook and Jimin" when he means "Jungkook and Tae." It's almost like he's used to saying two of those names together...

30:06 - All three times they're about to announce JK the winner of something, JM cuts in to announce his name before they do.

31:28 - When JK asks where he can use his gift cards, Jimin tells him he can go shopping with them.

Ep 109 "Dubbing" (Ep: 5 / KM: 2)

The one where it seems JM might have a future in Disney dubbing if this whole idol thing doesn’t work out

0:19 - JM finds the different voice JK uses in the opening much funnier than anyone else does

10:40 - JK praises JM's Lion King performance

33:19 - After their guest praises JM for his performance as Judy in the Zootopia scene, JK calls out "Jimin-ssi!" twice

BEHIND 0:51 - JK has a GIANT smile on his face because he finds JM's sudden shyness adorable

3:50 - After JK complains that he is cold, JM puts his arms around him to warm him up

6:02 - When JM is playing around with the Rex voice, JK again finds it far funnier than anyone else does

Ep 110 "Treasure Hunt Part 1" (Ep: 4 / KM: 1)

The ones where the warm-up games to get hints to the treasure hunt are much more fun than the hunt itself

12:35 - When J-Hope suggests that someone should get piggy-backed, JK says "oh!" and looks right at JM.

22:18 - When JK starts singing, JM joins in and harmonizes with him. BEHIND

2:57 - When it's announced that a game is all about being strong, JM immediately says that JK should do it.

4:08 - When it becomes clear it's a strength and flexibility challenge, JK says JM should go and informs everyone that JM majored in contemporary dance.

Ep 111 "Treasure Hunt Part 2" (Ep: 2 / KM: 2)

6:19 - When they get the clue "Jungkook with a different last name," Suga immediately says, "Park Jungkook"

33:00 - When JM learns that the prize is to go home, one of his first comments is that JK won't be able to go home (because JM knows JK hasn't really been trying on this one.)

33:44 - In his ending comment, JM wishes everyone after him good luck - especially JK. BEHIND 4:12 - When JK is confused about the rules, he asks JM for clarification and JM explains to him (the on-screen text says he's being a "friendly hyung")

5:45 - When JH asks Tae if he knows the "JK's last name" answer yet, Tae also guesses "Park"

8:12 - As JM leaves, he once again brings up JK, saying "JK, fighting!" No proof of this, but there has been some speculation that JM's concern for JK may have led to him texting him the answer, because JK seems to be able to get the passcode without having done any of the work necessary to solve the clues...

Hey, hey, three outta five villains ain’t bad! Very impressive. Pretty slick trap they set. I’m less into the needless slaughter of the winter rangers. Talk about an alignment changing sort of moment. Like, imagine if every time your D&D party hit the snooze button it required the sacrifice of a whole squad of low level NPCs. Feels totally unnecessary. Hopefully the scouts had the good sense to just disregard orders and stay stealthed. Bad look Fjord and Essek, bad look. Lawful bad look even.

I love it when a plan comes together and what not, it’s time for Critical Role Mini Rollout Campaign 2 Episode 133!

The Terrain

Some sweet maps in this episode. The debris arrangement looks really great. Interestingly, the two tall ruined walls are not Dwarven Forge at all, but in fact the hex based wargame Heroscape. As it turns out, there are a lots of them on eBay and at reasonable prices. A tempting purchase, to be sure.

The Polymorphs

Caleb Giant Ape Form D&D: Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures: Giant Ape

At last, an accurate mini for this popular polymorph form. The sculpt resolution looks pretty high. So much great detail, particularly in the face. What an intense expression.

The Monsters

Frost Salamanders Rime of the Frostmaiden #33 Frost Salamander

Check out the pose on this frost salamander. Very animated and full of life. And the paint is sort of icy metallic. A very striking look. I can definitely dig this fairly recently released mini. No older prepainted frost salamanders exist, it’s nice to have such a quality frost salamander option now available.

Closing Thoughts and Predictions

I predict some eldritch beast miniatures. When the Mighty Nein confronts Lucien, I think he may be in a position to summon forth some creatures from Cognouza. Maybe some Deep Madness, Cthulhu Wars, or Kingdom Death models? Could make for an interesting bit of combat. See ya next ep!

Thomas Sanders Channel in numbers

The data is from the end of february / beginning of march 2020. Thomas has 3,34 Mio. Subscribers on his original channel and 320.000 on the Thomas Sanders and Friends channel. All in all Thomas uploaded 243 Videos. 203 on the original channel and 40 on the Thomas and Friends one (T&F).

Everything together has a length of 45:19:14 hours, 263.772.793 hits; 12.156.231 likes, 64.870 dislikes and 1.537.932 comments. (2 early videos from 2013 and 2014 had comments disabled)

Included in this are the short video compilations with a length of 3:54:08, 27.862.092 hits, 1.312.105 likes, 3.073 dislikes and 59.094 comments.

Videos that are about the sides in some way or another (39 altogether) make up 9:32:27 hours of it. They have 93.250.383 hits, 3.924.986 likes, 17.178 dislikes and 635.051 comments.

That means sanders sides make up about 21,05% of time (if I didn’t botch that one up), 35,35% of the views, 32,29% of the likes, 26,48% of the dislikes and 41,29% of the comments.

Google says a good “likes to views” ratio is around 4%. Thomas has an average ratio of 5,97%.

The Videos with the least hits are the “Kingdom Hearts” Ep. 4 (49.055) Ep. 3 (73.787) and Ep. 2 (98.426).

The least liked are “Dropping Hints” with 3.100 (only 26 seconds long) and again “Kingdom Hearts” Ep. 4 with 6.139 and Ep. 3 with 6.792.

The least disliked are “Advice for the Modern-Day Princess” with 11 (only 15 seconds long) and unsurprising “Kingdom Hearts” Ep. 2 with 12 and Ep. 4 with 13 dislikes. [Again, it’s easy to see that the videos with the least hits are also the one with the least dislikes.]

The highest dislike ratio have “Money Explained by Non-Experts” with 0,32 %, “Black History Part 2” with 0,26% and “Having Pride” with 0,13%.

Next, I wanted to split the data for the years. I’ve started with 2014 because there’s only one video in 2011 three in 2013 and none in 2012. This is just the Informations I found especially interesting, or else this post would be even longer than it already is.

Congratulations to the "A reason to smile" series for having the best "hit to like" ratio 4 years in a row. I mean, seriously. Look at that.

personal comment

Although the numbers are interesting to look at and useful to see some correlations, we should never forget that they don't say much about actual reality. Like the problem with the “hit to like" ratio number I wrote about, there are many other factors we should keep in mind when we see informations like this.

2017 sounds heavy with it’s 88 videos and making up almost 50% of the time of the whole channel but half of the videos (43) are under 10 minutes and the three longest videos (look above) were also uploaded in this year.

Videos like “Reasons to Smile” or reaction videos are pretty general and reach a wider range of people while specific topics like a video about one video game (see the “Kingdom Hearts” videos) mostly speak to people already interested in it.

And of course, like I wrote above, I didn't include everything and mostly just what I found interesting. So while this is all actual facts it's already been filtered through me. These informations can be interesting, but should always be viewed critically.

If I made some arithmetic or thinking errors please feel free to correct me.

Transcript: Yasha struggles against her chains - Critical Role C2 Ep60 3:27:02

In light ep C2 Ep069, this seems like a good scene to bring back. There's a lot of set-up here to what happened.

Scenes runs:

1. A Dream from the Stormlord 3:27:02 to 3:32:26

2. Yasha, Nott, Jester, and Caduceus talk it out 3:32:26 to 3:41:09

3. Yasha Confronts the Stormlord 3:41:09 to 3:54:13

1. A Dream from the Stormlord

3:27:02 Matt: "Yasha."

Ashley, touching different parts of her face: "Huuu! Immediately red." She hides in her hood.

Matt: "In your exhaustion, the darkness comes comfortably as a night's rest, and an evening's respite. And though you don't awaken, you can feel the thunder. You can feel it roll and vibrate through your body. With each impact, there's a flash of light behind your eyes, like a heartbeat of a dull blue glow."

3:27:43 Matt makes three low rumbling thunder sounds and then a louder, sharper one. "A deafening blast of thunder shakes your eyes awake, and you are soaked, standing on the precipice of a mountain. You can see the heavy clouds before you with slight little breaches between where moonlight and stars are briefly visible before they are consumed once more by the storm." Matt makes two more thunder noises mimicking lightening striking. "Arcs of lightening shoot across the Xhorhas sky. You're cold, shivering, your hair matted over your face, you're eyes barely peeking through.

3:28:34 Matt mimics another lightning strike and thunder. "Through another arc you think you see an arm through the clouds. And it's gone." Mimicked thunder. "Another flash of light, and you see what looks like a humanoid form reaching from the storm towards you. Your instinct is to turn and run, but you watch as the head kind of turns. Another flash of light and it's gone. You sense a presence behind you. What do you do?"

3:29:27 Ashley: "I turn around and walk towards it."

3:29:31 Matt: "You turn around from the space where you're standing, and the opposite side of this mountain range is just bodies. Corpses littered and stretched out before you. Dozens and dozens of them. You can't see their faces, you just see folded arms and legs, wounds. And there, standing behind you is a shaded figure." Thunder. "The flash of light behind you emanates and briefly frames the face you see. A familiar male figure. his curved horns back from the front. His wings folded over his shoulders. His sly, grinning yellow eyes peering at you. And just looks, shakes his head, and walks away."

Ashley: "Do I recognize any of the bodies? Anything on the bodies? Is anything about it familiar to me?"

Matt: "You go towards the bodies?"

Ashley: "Yeah."

Matt: "Make a wisdom saving throw."

[After the dice is cocked 3 times, Ashley rolls a 15.]

3:31:12 Matt: "15. This figure that is familiar to you, but you don't know why or where, causes something in your heart to freeze, and you feel the fear kind of welling up in your throat, this heavy lump that's making it hard to swallow. And you try and take a step, and you have to force yourself to move. And you take another step, and you go towards one of the bodies and turn it over, and it's Mollymauk."

Shocked gasps.

3:31:51 Matt: "And you go look to the left and there's Jester. And you look past that, and you see Caleb. And you start to look around and every body is somebody who's crossed your path, somebody you've let in. You glance up and that figure just keeps walking away shaking his head." He tuts three times. Thunder. "You wake up, as the heavy thunder rolls through the hall."

Ashley: "Oh fuck."

2. Yasha, Nott, Jester, and Caduceus talk it out

3:32:26 Matt: "Nott, you kind of shake awake a little bit."

Nott: "Hn! What are you doing? You okay?"

Ashley: "Is anyone else awake?"

Nott: "Are you okay?"

Taliesin: "I am quietly awake."

Matt: "Jester's awake technically, too."

Nott: "What happened? Where are you? What's going on? What'd you do?"

Jester: "Are you okay?"

0:32:44 Yasha: "Uh, I had a… I had a very bad dream."

Nott: "Do you want some liquor?"

Jester: "Do you want to talk about it?"

Yasha: "No."

Jester: "Do you want a massage?"

Nott: "They're very hard."

Yasha, sounding distressed: "Uh, I think I'm okay."

3:33:08 Nott: "Is it a dream you've had before? Is it like one of Fjord's dreams that keep coming?"

0:33:16 Yasha: "I do keep having… dreams, but sometimes they feel like… they're very real or familiar. And I don't know if… They make me very scared."

Jester: "Is it about somebody you knew?"

Yasha: "Yes. Yes."

3:33:51 Nott: "Well, do you think it's something- sometimes dreams can be like a premonition, something in your future or could be something in your past. Did it feel like a past or a future?"

3:34:01 Yasha: "Well sometimes, they're both, but this one felt like… this was definitely not in the past, and I'm hoping that it's not in the future."

Jester: "Tell us about it. What happened?"

Nott: "We're good listeners. And also, you've woken us up."

Jester, softly giggling: "I was already awake. Don't worry about it."

3:34:30 Yasha, after a long pause: "I think I've done something very bad."

Jester: "What do you mean?"

Yasha: "I think I've done something very bad and I don't remember."

Nott: "You don't remember?"

Yasha: "Well…"

3:34:46 Jester: "Is this about when you left your- when you left your village?"

Yasha: "I don't know." She sighs. "I don't know. I'm very confused."

0:34:56 Caduceus, sleepily with his eyes closed: "What does the lord require of thee?"

Jester, poking him: "Are you asleep?"

Caduceus: "No."

Jester: "Oh."

3:35:08 Caduceus: "It's raining and there's lightening and thunder. Someone's trying to send you a message."

Yasha: "It's not a very positive message."

3:35:18 Caduceus: "That all depends on interpretations. What does the lord require of thee? Thunder and lightning. That's how I'd talk to you if I was a Stormlord."

Jester: "Is this storm just for you, Yasha?"

Yasha: "I don't think so, but if it is, I saw a…"

Jester, grinning: "Just say it. What was it?"

Nott: "Whatever it was, I'm sure it's fine."

Jester: "We can handle it."

3:35:57 Yasha: "I saw a lot of… dead bodies, and I saw… Mollymauk, and a lot of other people that I've known."

Jester: "That's very sad, Yasha."

Nott: "That's super fucked up."

Jester: "Maybe it's because we just fought a bunch of undead things, you know? Maybe you're just trying to process it."

Yasha: "It could be. It could be. It might be something that's just…"

Nott: "Do you think it could be that maybe you're doing something right or wrong or-?

Yasha: "I don't know. I think that's- that's- I…"

Nott: "Was it a warning? Was it a punishment?"

Yasha: "I feel like every time I have it it's very scary and I… It feels like I've caused something."

Jester: "Do you ever talk to the Stormlord and say like, 'Hey, what are you trying to tell me?'"

Nott: "Jester talks to her god all the time, yeah."

Jester: "Yeah."

Yasha: "No. I could try. I never really have."

Jester: "Yeah, give it a go."

3:37:05 Yasha: "But I have- I think… you both have very different relationships with your gods, and it feels much more personal, and I feel that with me it's- I've… I'm not scared of a lot of things but I'm a little bit scared of him."

Jester: "Really?"

Yasha: "But maybe that's just 'cause-"

Jester: "But you worship him?"

3:37:33 Yasha: "Well… I think he just… He pulled be out of something and saved my life so I feel like I owe him that."

Jester: "Well he seems to be paying a lot of attention to you."

Yasha, taking a nervous deep breath: "Yeah. I think I should maybe try to have some conversations-"

Nott: "Yeah, next time you have a dream, maybe you should, like, plan what you're going to say now, so you know."

Yasha: "Okay. Yeah."

0:38:02 Nott: "Like, what's your opening? You've got to have a strong opener."

Jester: "Yeah."

Yasha: "Ah…"

Nott: "'What do you want with me!'"

Yasha: "Okay."

Jester, yelling: '" Why are you being so creepy!? Just be nice, okay?"

Caduceus, making a lowering gesture: "Shh. Too loud, too loud, too loud."

0:38:16 Jester, quietly: "No I'm just kidding, I'm just… What if, Yasha, what if we- it's raining right now, it's stormy, what if we go outside and we, like, yell up at the sky right now, and you know, you can just like let it out and say like, 'Why are you trying to be creepy?'"

Nott: "He might hear you. He might hear you if he's part of the storm or something."

Yasha: "Yeah, yeah."

Jester: "Just say, 'Be nice to me! I just want to, you know…"

Nott, loudly: "Respect me!"

Jester: "Yeah. 'I'm here for you!'"

Yasha: "'Respect me! Witness me!'"

Nott & Jester: "Yeah."

Yasha: "'Why are you doing this to me?'"

Nott & Jester: "Yeah."

Yasha: "Yeah, well, okay, I'll think about it. If you guys want to sleep, I can take a watch, or, you know."

Nott: "Are you going to go out and stare- and scream at the sky?"

Jester: "If you do it, we'll just go with you just to be safe."

Nott: "Just to watch."

Yasha: "Yeah? Okay. Yeah, should we go?"

Jester: "Okay, yeah."

Nott: "Sure." Nott taps Jester's arm and leans in, "I think we just told her to go scream at the sky."

Jester: "It's going to be really cool."

Caduceus: "I'll say, actually, it's a pretty good idea. Although, I will say that I tend to have better luck finding what I need to know if I'm somewhere quiet and alone. As much as I appreciate company."

Jester: "Awe."

Nott: "Yeah, but you're the- you're like a garden god. She's the storm god, right?"

Jester: "What if what she needs is more people screaming!"

3:39:36 Yasha: "What if we just all start screaming?"

Jester: "Like, screaming like thunder."

Nott: "Yeah! Yeah!"

Yasha: "Yeah. We could try it."

Jester: "Yeah. And then we'll run back inside really fast because there could be things around that could attack us."

Yasha: "Sure. I don't know how this works, I am learning."

Nott: "Try it!"

Yasha: "I am definitely learning from this."

Nott: "Try it!"

0:39:49 Laura: "We just step right outside the door right down here."

Matt: "Okay."

Liam: "Caleb's cat creepily watches them go."

Caduceus: "Oh dear."

Matt: "So, you…?"

Ashley: "Is it still storming outside."

Matt, as the background track thunders: "Oh yeah. Very much so."

Sam and Laura: "Oh!"

Sam: "Oh, there are storm sound effects happening."

Jester: "Ooo, Yasha, it's really stormy!"

3:40:09 Yasha: "Okay, I'm gonna step forward just a little bit and… you know, just so it doesn't scare him off if you're all here."

Nott, patting Jester's hand: "Can you do something to, like, help her? Give her bravery or something? Can't you do- oh, you're out of spells, aren't you?"

Yasha: "Okay, I think-"

Jester: "I've got a first level left. I'm going to just Bless you.

Yasha: "Okay."

Jester: "I'm just going to cast Bless on you."

Yasha: "Okay, okay."

Jester, squeakily: "Just go and get- 'cause it's useful."

Yasha: "Okay."

Liam, quietly: "Just a happy little Bless. Just a happy little bless right here."

3:40:37 Yasha: "Um, I'll step out, just so I still see them, but far enough away where I feel like I have some privacy."

Matt: "Okay. So, you step beyond the exterior of the fortress. There's the courtyard and this little niche in the mountain range. The other side of the mountains kind of- as a descending V for your view before you actually head out into the mountain pass looking out over all of Xhorhas. So, you'd have to walk quite a few hundred feet to get out even into the mountain pass. You go that way?"

Yasha: "Yes."

3. Yasha Confronts the Stormlord

3:41:09 Matt: "Okay. You walk out there, cold rain drenching you in an eerily familiar way. Kind of causes you to feel a little bit of a crawling nervousness in your belly as you now begin to sensory recall-"

Ashley: "Like I am now."

Matt: "--the sensory recall of the dream you'd just woken up from. You feel the cold rain water soaking into all of your outfit and the back. You step out onto the mountain pass, you glance over your shoulder, and you can just barely see the silhouettes of Jester and Nott in the doorway."

Laura: "You see our," Jester and Nott give double thumbs up signs. Nott waves her on.

Yasha gives a thumbs up back.

3:42:00 Matt: "You go ahead and look, turn around, and you can now see, barely, the open northward barbed fields of this side of Xhorhas. The feint edges of the Vermaloch forest below you, the Wildwood. You can just in the distance see faint sparkles of light that represent Rosohna, Ghor Dranas, the capital of the Kryn Dynasty. And every few moments, arcs of lightning that spiral across the sky, through the clouds. Some down into- and tend to be focused towards the barbed fields to the north. What do you do?"

3:42:57 Yasha: "Hello? I don't quite know how to do this, but I'm trying to learn. I feel, and I know that you are trying to communicate with me, but I'm very confused. I don't know what these dreams mean, and I'm feeling scared. But I… I want to be an instrument for you. And you quite literally saved me and I want to do what I can and do whatever work that needs to be done. Are you there? I don't know if this is the right thing that I'm doing. I feel like I'm talking to nothing; are you there?"

3:44:21 Matt: "You stand there for a moment and see the flashes of light."

3:44:31 Yasha: "I think I'm… I think I'm most scared 'cause I did something… I feel like I did something bad, and I don't remember what it is. But I think I'm most nervous about what is to come, and if I will continue hurting people. and maybe that's what you've come to help me with."

Matt: "There's no response."

3:45:23 Yasha: "Well… I will continue to follow. I will look for sings because I think that's what you're supposed to do. I know Jester draws things, draws dicks on things, `but that doesn't feel right." She sighs.

Ashley: "I kind of doodle a dick on the ground."

Laughter.

3:46:04 Yasha: "That might be something different. I think I'll sit out here tonight. Just in case you come back."

Matt: "And you stay out here?"

Ashley: "I'm gonna stay outside."

Matt: "Okay. Do you guys…?"

Nott: "She coming back?"

Jester shrugs and makes an "I don't know" sound.

Matt: "You watch Yasha kind of just sit down and lay against the side of the mountain."

Jester: "Maybe we should sleep, you know, near.

Nott: "Okay."

Jester: "Just in case something happens."

Nott: "Mmhm. Okay."

Jester: "Yeah."

Sam: "Find a little nook to- this sucks."

Laura: "Yeah underneath some leaves to try to keep dry."

Sam and Laura snuggle up together.

3:46:54 Matt: "Eventually you guys come to find. Thankfully- because the two of you can keep each other warm you manage to find some sleep." Turning to Yasha, "As do you. You're used to the rugged uncomfortable spaces of Xhorhas and living in the Theo Moorlands is not a comfortable place in comparison to where you've been with these people. But sleep comes to you.

3:47:15 Matt: "And in that sleep your wrists get cold. But not the rest of your body, just the wrists. And you try and move your body position, and you kind of glance down and you see irons on your wrists. You look and you have your withered wings draped over each of your shoulders. and you look forward and all you see is the storm, just roiling clouds. And with the next flash of light, you see the clouds part into two pale glowing eyes open before you."

3:48:17 Yasha: "You're there. Please… Please talk to me."

3:48:28 Matt: "You see no mouth, but with the next roll of thunder you hear beneath it this brimming, bassy voice, familiar from some of the visions in the past you've experienced. It says,"

3:48:43 Kord: "You are still shackled, child."

3:48:51 Yasha: "I know. Some reasons I know why, but other reasons I do not. Have I done something terrible?"

3:49:14 Kord: "We've all done terrible things."

3:49:22 Yasha: "These visions that you're giving me… where I see my friends, I don't know what that means."

3:49:41 Kord: "You have done terrible things. And you are capable of doing terrible things. Your strength is still not wholly your own. You are still shackled, child. Fight against them. Don't let the iron be your strength."

Yasha: "How do I fight against it?"

Kord: "Struggle. Push."

Yasha: "Okay."

Kord: "Struggle. Push."

Ashley: "I look down, and I try to start pulling it apart."

Matt: "You're pulling and pulling at those chains. Make a strength saving throw."

[Yasha rolls a 22.]

3:51:17 Matt: "The chains grow taught. Still freezing against your wrists. You pull and you pull, and you can hear the squeaking of iron tensing." He mimics metal squealing.

3:51:32 Ashley: "I start screaming and pulling as much as I can."

Matt: "You pull, and you yell into the storm, the rain smashing into your face, filling your mouth. You scream and you tense in anger as the storm rolls, the lightning flashing heavier, the eyes growing brighter."

Kord: "Struggle. Find what gives you your power. Where do you find your strength?"

3:52:09 Yasha: "I continue to think of… I think of Jester, and I think of Beau, and I think of Fjord, and Mollymauk, and Caduceus, and Nott, and Caleb, and Zuala, and I just keep pulling and screaming."

Matt: "Roll a strength saving throw with advantage."

[Yasha rolls a 22.]

3:52:46 Matt: "The previous weakening of the binds causes the links to pull and stretch and the metal itself begins to wain and twist. You can see your withered wings begin to feather."

Shocked happiness from the table.

Matt: "You pull and the binds to do break, and the feathers dissipate, and in that moment of sorrow and failure, the voice goes,"

Kord: "You grow stronger still. the shackles remain, but they weaken. You know your strength, use it, and struggle."

Matt: "The storm begins to pull away, the sound of the thunder dissipates, and you fall back into a night's rest."

so i want to start watching crit role but i tried once before and i found the beginning way too slow. is there a point where i can start where i'll be able to figure out what's happening but it'll be faster than the first eps? for reference, i fell off around ep 6 - there was something at the circus that killed a kid or something

critical recap (which you can look up on yt) is great for rapidfire summaries of earlier episodes (and later ones tho i think i heard sth recently abt them ending/only being in text form now? [shrugs])

so if u'd like to ream past earlier episodes but still keep the general context &then just jump in slightly closer to or even at the current point in canon that's an option

ANYWAY

idk what the general fandom consensus is, but the way i see it u have 3 obvious options:

-start again with ep 5, the gnolls mini arc. that plotline is abt 3 eps long, and iirc gives u a fjord Thing, a caleb Thing, and GREAT subtler moments from everyone else. also very importantly it has guest pc shakaste who is an absolute delight and also legend whom u WILL love. good for early lore, sweet jokes, and a more condensed-feeling story than the carnival

-start again with ep 8, or even 9 if u don't mind missing the intro of generally enjoyed npc pumat(s) sol. has the party enter (if 8) and explore (if 9) zadash & is where many plot threads Begin. good for starting early enough to meet lots of later-important npcs & witness some Crucial Party Interactions, while skipping over Travel Time

-start again with episode 26. this is where the party rly Becomes A Party, & a vry good arc follows, almost immediately followed by another 1 where the plot kicks into High Gear. pros: Suspenseful Plot Time, ppl emoting everywhere, clear Bad Guy To Loathe. cons: gonna miss a lot of molly, but u can always watch earlier eps later

-other options i suppose? ep 28, where u meet cad, tho rly idk how that'd feel without ep 26 so [shrugs]. ep 33, nicodranas time! fjord arc 1 begins 2 commence. a very handy & sensible starting point, tho less AAAA from the outset than eps 26 or 28. ep 48 if u wanna get rly goddamn wild & dive into nott's arc/the start of the arc that most directly led to the current one? personally i feel like it's more emotionally rewarding if u watch Some Other Episodes First, but ymmv, esp if u already know certain spoilers

others may have other ideas that work better for u? but those are the options that stick out to me personally!!

Episode thumbnail stats for Campaign 1

Critical Role was on a break again this week so I decided to do this after all. I’ve already done this for campaign 2, eps 1-76, part 1 and part 2. Just like those posts, I simply counted how many thumbnails each of the cast has and came up with some bits of trivia.

The stats I’m counting are from episodes 10-115, except for 12 because it’s not an actual episode (but Matt is in that thumbnail if you’re curious). That means I’m not counting the illustrated ones (though there will be trivia), non-canon oneshots, or battle royales.

Now, in order from most thumbnails to least, here is how many thumbnails each castmember has (total, solo, and group), along with the episode numbers too.

Marisha - 25 total; 12 solo (eps 19, 28, 39, 49, 56, 64, 75, 81, 88, 97, 105, 112); 13 group (25, 29, 35, 50, 67, 69, 79, 83, 95, 100, 109, 114, 115)

I haven’t come up with much trivia but I’ll still put the rest in a read more because this is already getting long.

- Out of 105 thumbnails (from eps 10-115), 82 have just one castmember in them. There are only 23 group pictures, “group” meaning 2 or more castmembers.

- There are 3 full cast photos (50, 100, 109), there are 5 group photos with everyone but Matt (79, 83, 95, 114, 115), there is 1 photo with 6 of the cast - Matt, Marisha, Laura, Travis, Taliesin, and Liam (25), and 2 photos with 3 castmembers - Matt, Laura, and Liam (26) and Laura, Ashley, Marisha (69)

- There are 12 illustrated thumbnails, episodes 1-9, The Search for Grog, The Search for Bob, and Dalen’s Closet. In 2-9, each of the 8 members of Vox Machina get their own solo thumbnail. The very first thumbnail is a full group illustration, and so is the last one (so far), Dalen’s Closet.

- Orion was in 2 thumbnails, episodes 16 and 23. Yeah, I didn’t want to include him with the rest of the cast.

- Felicia Day is the only guest to get a thumbnail, episode 18. - Marisha is not in episode 19 but she is in the thumbnail. Laura is not in episode 21 but she is in the thumbnail. I didn’t look for more like this, these particular episodes stand out to me because the thumbnails confuse me for a moment every time I try to remember which groups are in which eps for Trial of the Take.

- Other than group shots, Sam is not in a thumbnail the entire time Scanlan is gone, eps 86 - 100, which of course makes sense.

- Laura and Liam are paired together the most with 4 (44, 60, 89, 102). Travis and Ashley were paired together twice (62, 96). Marisha and Liam were paired twice (35, 67). Sam and Ashley were paired twice (53, 80). Marisha and Taliesin were paired once (29). Laura and Taliesin were paired once (34). There are no other pairings.

And I’m done! Even though I probably like the full cosplay of campaign 1′s thumbnails a lot more, I think I prefer the variety and pairings of campaign 2′s. I’m kinda hoping they’ll do a full cosplay of campaign 2 eventually, if it goes on so long that they run out of photos.
