Doctor Stephen Strange could handle complicated. He’d faced off with Dormammu himself, fought against one of his own, and even helped defeat a mad Titan; but Battleworld was an entirely different beast.

His head felt like a jumbled up mess of memories that weren’t entirely his own, a complex flash of images that made him painfully aware of the fact that things were not right here. God Emperor Doom was deceiving everyone, and the entire balance of reality was wronged. They’d expected death after the Incursion, but some of the Domains left people with far worse fates. 

And even though Strange was technically Sheriff of this place, intended to prosecute and judge once familiar faces, he knew he needed to do something. And fast. Eight years of living this lie had passed. Eight. Eight years of people being forced to live lives that weren’t their own. 

And there was one person who Stephen knew he needed to find.

Navigating his way to the Darkforce Dimension wasn’t difficult. His memories were slowly righting themselves after the incantation he’d performed back at the Isle of Agamotto to speed the process up, resolving eight years worth of falsehoods. It was disorienting and still a little confusing, but he managed to still remember where Clea had been hiding out.  When he saw the blonde, he couldn’t help the wave of relief that washed over him as he went to approach her. 

But then suddenly her lips were colliding with his and-- was this happening? Yup, it was definitely happening. Even with his other memories intact, the sheer passion of the kiss still shocked Stephen as his hands found their way to the small of her back, pulling her closer. 

He was out of breath by the time she pulled away, the shock evident on his face as his eyebrows shot up. “It’s nice to see you too.”

DOMAIN: THE DARKFORCE DIMENSION

HISTORY:

The Darkforce Dimension has existed as long as time itself. This reality remained superimposed over Battleworld, all the while acting independently on its own. The Darkforce Dimension was ruled exclusively by the Faltine until the devil’s children, DAIMON AND SATANA HELLSTROM, staged a coup and killed the acting baron, DORMAMMU. Although his niece and infant son escaped, all other Faltine were killed. It was while the Dimension was weak that the neighboring domain of Limbo attacked under their new Baroness, MADELYNE PRYOR. As a result, Limbo overpowered the Darkforce Dimension and pushed the domain below it. The two have remained in conflict during the WRETCHED WARS, but the Dimension has not been able to break free once more. Purists still exist who would like to see the Dimension returned to its rightful hands, but that’s easier said than done.

THINGS TO KNOW:

The Hellstrom’s rule together as one tight unit, each overseeing one part of the domain. They have employed various Hunters to keep the monsters, demons, vampires and werewolves in line for them; these Hunters include ELSA BLOODSTONE, ERIC BROOKS and the mysterious MR. KNIGHT. The Hunters have also been tasked with looking for CLEA STRANGE, the niece of Dormammu who escaped with his only son and heir, DOYLE. It is believed that Strange is helping raise the boy and other magical children along with JERICHO DRUMM. As soon as Dormammu comes of age, it is highly suspected that he and Strange will attempt to reclaim the domain. While the Wretched Wars rage on, however, the domain remains in the hands of the Hellstroms. Hotspots in the dimension include Satana’s diner; and the Hellfire Highway, which is a popular bar.

CLEA STRANGE – born the niece of DORMAMMU and Faltine royalty, CLEA STRANGE was once a respected sorceress. She left the Darkforce Dimension to study on the ISLE OF AGAMOTTO for training under the Sheriff, STEPHEN STRANGE. The two fell in love but due to the Sheriff’s position could not be together. The two married in secret and planned on being together, but Dormammu was murdered before they could come up with a plan. Strange managed to save her nephew, DOYLE DORMAMMU, and went into hiding. She and the Sheriff had to make the painful decision to not be together as it was unsafe for Doyle to be exposed and as the Sheriff Stephen was prohibited from interfering in intra-domain conflict. Strange raised Doyle over the years and ended up taking in other hunted magical children alongside the magic user known as JERICHO DRUMM. Strange and the Sheriff still do see each other when they can sneak away, but both know they have no future until Doyle is reunited with his throne. Strange loves her nephew – and all the children – dearly. She’d give her life for them.

DAIMON HELLSTROM – the devil’s eldest child, DAIMON HELLSTROM and his sister SATANA HELLSTROM were groomed from birth by their father to one day seize the Darkforce Dimension from the Faltine. The Hellstrom siblings were trained in magic, hellfire manipulation and dark arts. Like his sister, Hellstrom oversees the Darkforce Dimension and has his own section to rule over exclusively. Would he also like to absorb his sister’s sector? Perhaps, but they’re family and make a good team. They’re more powerful together and Hellstrom does like power.

DOYLE DORMAMMU – the true heir to the Darkforce Dimension, DOYLE DORMAMMU was saved from execution as an infant when his aunt CLEA STRANGE stole him away after the Baron and Baroness HELLSTROM killed his father to seize control of the domain. Raised by his aunt, Doyle always knew his true birthright. Eager to reclaim it, he trained in how to harness magic by both Strange and fellow fugitive JERICHO DRUMM. Dormammu wasn’t raised alone, though. Over the years Strange took in other magical kids to stop Hunters from persecuting them. One of these included EMILY BRIGHT, the young magic user that Doyle quickly fell for. Bright was nothing but supportive of Dormammu as he came closer to the day in which he reclaims his throne, but he sometimes wondered if she was keeping something from him. That withstanding, Dormammu is close to finally avenging his father and righting the wrongs that the Hellstrom’s enacted. He just needs to make sure he’s strong enough to be the King the Darkforce Dimension needs.

EMILY BRIGHT – with two parents who were human, EMILY BRIGHT was born a bit of an abnormality. Originally from the OLD TOWN domain, Bright showed an affinity for magic at a young age. Scared that their daughter would be discriminated against for her abilities, they began to look for a domain that would be safe for her to learn how to use her powers. Visited by Sheriff STEPHEN STRANGE, he directed them to an old friend named CLEA STRANGE who was harboring  magical children in the Darkforce Dimension. Bright’s parents tearfully said goodbye to their daughter before leaving her to grow with those like her. Bright proved to be a natural in magical skills, and even caught the attention of the Darkforce heir, DOYLE DORMAMMU. Although her powers were growing and she was happy with Dormammu, there was something Bright was hiding. There’s a darkness in her that she couldn’t explain, and it was growing more and more every day. For now it’s manageable, but Bright fears the day it spirals out of her control. What if she hurts someone she loves? Worse, what if she’s so far gone that she doesn’t care? She was visited by Baroness SATANA HELLSTROM once, who offered to help her control her darkness if she agreed to bring them Dormammu. Bright refused, but as more time went on she fears Hellstrom may one day be her only option to help prevent her from losing herself entirely.

ELSA BLOODSTONE – as the oldest and only daughter of esteemed monster hunter ULYSSES BLOODSTONE, ELSA BLOODSTONE has spent her entire life hunting monsters and doing a damn good job at it. After losing her brother CULLEN BLOODSTONE to a monster early on, Bloodstone devoted her life to using her family’s Bloodstone to keep all monsters and demons in line. The top of her field, she was partnered with the ever elusive MR. KNIGHT, aka STEVEN GRANT, an Avatar fugitive from EGYPTIA. Although Elsa is fine with her other Hunters, she’ll always choose to save her own skin in a scrap. With a family steeped in honor and decorum, she’s got no choice but to live up to the legacy. It’s all she has. Honor or death, right? Right.

SATANA HELLSTROM – a succubus and daughter to the devil, SATANA HELLSTROM is the sister to DAIMON HELLSTROM and Baroness of the Darkforce Dimension. Primarily occupied with torturing souls, Hellstrom’s succubus background means she needs to absorb life forces to stay healthy and powerful. She rules over her section of the domain alongside her brother and is content with their situation as he leaves her to her own devices.

STEVEN GRANT – known as the mysterious Mr. Knight, STEVEN GRANT is a British adventurer turned Monster Hunter. Grant was an Avatar of Khonshu in Egyptia originally, working alongside his fellow Avatars, MARC SPECTOR and LAYLA EL-FAOULY. Grant and Spector became best friends over the years; after Spector married MARLENE ALRAUNE, Grant ended up marrying El-Faouly. When APOCALYPSE took over Egyptia, he began by slaying all of the Old Gods, Khonshu included. The Avatar’s became hunted fugitives after that, and while Grant, El-Faouly and Spector tried to stay together, El-Faouly was believed to be killed by the Horsemen. Mourning his wife, Grant turned his back on his friend and fled the domain in grief. He ended up in the DARKFORCE DIMENSION and was employed by the Baron and Baroness to help hunt monsters and demons to keep them in line. Partnered with ELSA BLOODSTONE, Grant rarely showed his face and often worked exclusively as Mr. Knight. He’d done his best to run from the pain and the guilt in his past, and hunting monsters worked pretty damn well for therapy… all up until the day he woke up. One of the heroes who survived the Incursion, Grant realized Battleworld was a false front and he was actually one part of Marc Spector. He never married Layla, and everything about his life was fake. Thrust into a life that isn’t his, Grant knows he needs to set out to find Marc and someone who can fix this mess.

TANDY BOWEN – although her powers are derived from the Lightforce, TANDY BOWEN moved to the Darkforce Dimension with her partner, TYRONE JOHNSON. Originally from METROPOLITA, Bowen and Johnson signed up for an illegal drug experiment that not only gave them powers but connected them to the Light and Darkforces respectively. Although they spent some time fighting crime in their home domain, Bowen urged Johnson to move to the Darkforce Dimension with her due to the fact that his Darkforce driven hunger was becoming unbearable. While Johnson is renewed in the Darkforce domain, Bowen is now constantly a target because of her Lightforce connection; some wish to try and capture the light for themselves, knowing that it’ll give them an edge against the Darkforce. Despite all that, Bowen is sticking by her friend’s side and bringing a little light to each day. They’ll find a way to control Johnson’s hunger, and once they do, they’re going home.
