DOMAINS: AFRIKA + THE FATHOMS

BARON(S): T'Challa / Namor

CAPITAL: Wakanda / Maritanis

HISTORY:

The domains of AFRIKA and the FATHOMS exist side by side. Both are some of the longest established in Battleworld, and they have never gotten along. With Afrika having a very dry, hot desert like climate and the Fathoms existing within the ATLANTIC OCEAN, their differences have always been very obvious. The conflict began when the people of the Fathom’s, the ATLANTEANS, flooded Afrika under the orders of KING KAMUU. Although Afrika recovered, the relations between the two domains never did. Currently, they are ruled respectively by King’s T’CHALLA of WAKANDA and KING NAMOR. The two Baron’s have drafted a peace treaty that is currently under review by both of their respective people. Should it pass, it would herald in a new era for both domains. Should it fail, tensions between the domains are likely to get only worse. Both are incredibly advanced and capable of great achievements. Working together would be beneficial for all, but history – and egos – can be hard to ignore.

THINGS TO KNOW:

The capital of Wakanda is one of the most advanced places in Battleworld, but very few know that due to the secrecy of the people in an attempt to stop them from being exploited. Instead, they have fostered technology internally – which sometimes worked against those in the domain who did not live in the capital and was therefore unable to share the wealth. Ever since T’Challa has taken over, however, things have moved in a different and more inclusive direction. They’re not ready to go public with the world, but they’ve been reaching out to others in Afrika to make sure the domain as a whole is protected and healthy. King T’Challa was, at one point, married to a mutant named ORORO MUNROE before she traveled to EGYPTIA to help her people; after she was captured by the Baron, APOCALYPSE, there’s been rumors that the King has been petitioning the GOD EMPEROR DOOM to let Afrika get involved in the conflict so that he could get his wife back. All petitions have been denied so far, but the matter is far from settled. To be in conflict with both Egyptia and the Fathom’s wouldn’t reflect well on Afrika, but some things cannot be avoided. The domain does host some of the best warriors in Battleworld: the all female guard known as the DORA MILAJE. They’ve guarded both Afrika and Wakanda faithfully and fiercely since the creation of the domain. One can find them at their base, the BLACK WARRIOR CREEK. Other places of relevance include the J’BARI LANDS, ROYAL PALACE, WALL OF KNOWLEDGE, TEMPLE OF TRANQUILITY, WOODS OF SOLITUDE and MOUNT WAKANDA.

Although the Fathom’s once existed above the sea, that was a very long time ago. Now, the kingdom spans from the Antarctic Circle of Battleworld all the way down the coast of Afrika. From the ATLANTEAN ROYAL PALACE rules King Namor; he – and the domain – are protected by the elite force known as the SUB-MARINERS. On the opposite coast from Afrika is the domain of ARCADIA, and relations with the A-FORCE team have always been good enough that they’ve been known to help each other out from time to time. Namor, who is half-human, has seemed to be more rational when it comes to dealing with the surface world than his baron predecessors, but that doesn’t mean he’s inclined naturally to peace. Because of the vastness of the Fathoms, they could be devastating to other domains if they chose to attack or flood them. Within the domain, there is the TEMPLE OF NEPTUNE, a sacred place and the city-state of DELUVIA. Namor has been known to confer with the God Emperor from time to time, but it’s mostly believed these talks revolve around the restrictions of the Fathom’s and what they are allowed to do.

365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…

September 17th - Singularity

The entity known as Singularity is a sentient quantum event within which a pocket dimension exists. Little is known about her origins and early history; she first appeared as a meteorite streaking across the sky and crashing into the Battleworld domain of Arcadia near the Bishop Lighthouse. Here she encountered Nico Minoru and assumed the form of a young girl calling herself ‘Singularity.’

Excited and curious, Singularity would go on to become a member of the heroic Battleworld team known as A-Force. She was saddened to find her friends gone following the conclusion of the Secret Wars event and sought out her former A-Force comrades in the newly reformed 616 Universe.

Her arrival facilitated the recreation of A-Force so to go up against a menace composed of antimatter energy. Singularity would have a number of adventures alongside A-Force. The team ultimately disbanded and Singularity ventured out to explore the ‘non-space’ that exists between realities. She would resurface to aide Ms. Marvel and later Captain Marvel.

The cosmic heroine first appeared in the pages of A-Force Vol. 1 #1 (2015).

A genderbent reality similar to Earth-199999. After the destruction of this reality by an Incursion, a segment of this Earth was used to form a region on the multiversal Battleworld known as the Rule 64 domain.

BARON(S): Carol Danvers

CAPITAL: Infinitia

HISTORY:

Arcadia is a composite of other domains in the sense that many of its residents are also seen elsewhere. What also sets the domain apart is that it was founded by women and has been lacking in men ever since. The role of Baroness has always been passed from one woman to the next, and while the rule of the GOD EMPEROR DOOM does still apply, only female THOR CORPS members are deployed there when additional assistance is needed – which, it often isn’t. Arcadia is protected by an elite team known as A-FORCE, aka the best of the best. The group is always headed by the Baroness of the domain, with CAROL DANVERS currently filling the role. When she takes trips to MOONVALE to monitor the INFINITY STONES, the superhuman known as JENNIFER WALTERS steps in. Although it’s not an old domain, it’s a sturdy one and it’s run effectively and efficiently. It’s believed that it will prosper for many years.

THINGS TO KNOW:

The domain is in the southern part of Battleworld and has locations such as the HALL OF JUSTICE, BISHOP’S LIGHTHOUSE, the ELIXIR BAR and the capital: the PLAZA OF ARCADIA. Arcadia is bordered on one side by the domain called the FATHOMS, and their guards – the SUB-MARINERS – will occasionally stop in to help. On another side is the SHIELD, and over the domain's history a few Arcadians have been banished to the other side of the wall for breaking the laws. That’s rare, however, and A-Force keeps a constant guard on the wall to ensure none of the undead on the other side manage to cross over. For the most part, Arcadia keeps to itself outside of those exceptions. Because what it’s doing is working, they see no reason to interfere with the problems of others. They’ll help if they have to, of course, but a multidimensional expansion isn’t in the cards. The people of Arcadia are happy and wish to stay that way.

CAROL DANVERS – infused with the powers of an INFINITY STONE after a failed mission in MOONVALE, CAROL DANVERS took on the title of CAPTAIN MARVEL and relocated to Arcadia. She was quickly recruited onto the A-Force, and Danvers served on the team until the day that the Baroness, MEDUSALITH AMAQUELIN, decided to step back and offered her the title. Danvers humbly accepted and became the new Baroness of Arcadia. Part of her duties included traveling to other domains, and one she spent more time in was her former home of Moonvale as she tried to keep an eye on the Baron, THANOS, and his INFINITY STONES. It was hard to not stress about that, but Danvers knew she needed to focus on her domain and her position as a leader. She let that occupy her until the day she remembered that she was one of the few selected by the FANTASTIC FOUR to escape the INCURSIONS and the creation of Battleworld in the NEGATIVE ZONE. It had been eight years ever since that had gone down, and once she realized the truth Danvers began to use her domain hopping freedom to look for others like herself. Stubborn to the core, she won’t stop until reality is righted and DOCTOR DOOM is overthrown. Arcadia is a paradise, sure, but in some ways it’s not real. It’s Danvers’ duty to help others see that as well. The issue is, Danvers is far from subtle and some wonder if there’s something up with her. She needs to be careful and not blow her shot.

JENNIFER WALTERS – there came a time in MANHATTA when it was decided that a law division was needed to handle superhuman affairs, and JENNIFER WALTERS was chosen as the lawyer in charge due to her alter-ego, SHE-HULK. After years of working with the division, Walters made friends with many heroes; among those was the Baroness of Arcadia, CAROL DANVERS, who would come to Manhatta for business. When Danvers offered Walters a place on the A-Force, Walters spent some time considering the opportunity before her cousin BRUCE BANNER encouraged her to take the spot. Relocating to Arcadia, Walters has been serving as Danvers’ right hand man and occasional stand-in when Danvers goes away on business. Life in Arcadia is drastically different from the city life of Manhatta, but Walters doesn’t mind. What she’s doing is satisfying in a different kind of way and she likes helping people. In Arcadia, no one sees her Hulk form and assumes she’s a monster. She’s just a hero, and that’s incredibly refreshing.

MELISSA GOLD – formerly a criminal in MANHATTA, MELISSA GOLD reformed and moved to Arcadia with the hopes of one day joining A-Force. After lots of hard work to shed her past crimes, Gold was accepted onto the team as a reserve member. Before her move, she had briefly worked with S.H.I.E.L.D. in Manhatta, and she now serves as Arcadia’s representative to the organization. Her additional work with the THUNDERBOLTS REHABILITATION TEAM in Manhatta also inspired A-Force to start a rehabilitation group under Gold’s supervision. The goal is to keep Arcadian’s out of the Shield, and Gold loves the work that she’s doing. She’s lived both a life of crime and a life following the rules, and stepping out of line and losing the paradise that is Arcadia would be a nightmare. She’s come too far to go back to how things were.

Reasons why I think post-credits Loki is in battleworld and why we should expect Secret Wars in the future:

Miss Minutes's explanation about how and why the Time Keepers created the TVA and the Sacred Timeline- the multiversal war that nearly resulted in the destruction of everything in existence. That this conflict saw “countless” different realities battling for dominance over the others-opened the door for Marvel to tackle the Secret Wars storyline.

The latest incarnation of Battleworld also introduced us to a concept where multiple dimensions start to converge (like a multiverse descending into madness). This version of the story also saw different realities going to war, and multiple versions of the same characters fighting each other. Following countless incursions across every reality, the Multiverse was destroyed (like Miss Minutes explained) and Doctor Doom created an entire new planet from the remnants of incursion points between collapsing worlds, that new planet was Battleworld.

So, why do I think Loki and Mobius are in Battleworld?

The domains in Battleworld were put together from the remnants multiple different realities after incursions destroyed the multiverse. The post credits scene shows a post-apocalyptic New York City, perhaps a universe where Loki or Ultron won.

The TVA destroying branches/other timelines are essentially functioning as incursions. Remnants of the multiverses the TVAs has been destroying have merged to essentially create Battleworld.

The two screenshots from the Disney+ trailer that show Mobius driving through an Egyptian setting. There are 41 domains in Battleworld. There are two options where I think Mobius could be. One could be the Domain of Apocalypse, specifically New Cairo. Another option is Egyptia.

We have also seen other areas in the trailers that look like vastly different environments (desert, wastelands, etc.) which would make sense with the number of different domains that exist on Battleworld.

Just the fact there are multiple Loki's from different universes and Battleworld is literally the place where endless numbers of versions of characters are located.

Gator Loki could be a nod to the time in the comics when Thor became a frog and a list of LEGO minifigures surfaced online that suggest Throg, an alternate version of Thor, may also be appearing in the MCU in the future. Which supports the secret war storyline speculation.

Jason Aaron has evolved into one of the most creatively rich and productive writers at Marvel, and frankly in the entire Comic Book Landscape. His stories are saturated with texture and steeped in foundational knowledge as well as character growth. From Wolverine to the Hulk, and even Doctor Strange, Jason Aaron has taken every character he’s touched at Marvel and reshaped them into something so much more!

Well, over the past eight + years, Jason Aaron has done the same thing with the God of Thunder.
