Naayéé’at’a (a Dinosaur with wings in Navajo word) Dineobellator notohesperus, wondering through woodlands of northwestern New Mexico. And yes, this is a redrawn version of 2020’s “The Warrior people of the Southwest” which is originally formed as velociraptorinae, but last year’s recent studied to reveal as more basal eudromaeosaur than a velociraptorinae. Which is why I need to drawn this specie with few skeletal pieces, while the latter is also full on based deinonychus skeletal designs (belongs to both Scott Hartman and GetAwayTrike) since this is another only basal species of eudromaeosaur, not ether dromaeosaurinae or velociraptorinae. #dineobellator #dineobellatornotohesperus #eudromaeosauria #dromaeosauridae #paraves #maniraptora #theropoda #dinosauria #feathereddinosaur #navajo #sketchbookapp #myart #paleoart https://www.instagram.com/p/CnxmZO1L5G8/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Sketchbook doodle of the Late Cretaceous dromaeosaurid Dineobellator sitting on an ancient carved pillar. The artwork on the pillar was inspired by that of the pre-Columbian Maya. Imagine if the Maya found a hidden portal to the Late Cretaceous and established a settlement somewhere on the other side...

New Dromaeosaurid Dinosaur and Biodiversity at the end of the Cretaceous
Open access | Nature | Jasinski et al. 2020
Jasinski et al.(2020) named a new species of dromaeosaurid Dineobellator notohesperus, meaning Southwestern Navaho warrior after the Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness where it was discovered. It was found to be upper Maastrichtian, late Cretaceous, in age, and the second known North American velociraptorine, suggesting a geographical separation after dispersal from its Asian ancestors.
Dineobellator was determined to be a new species by several morphological differences, including a large deltopectoral crest, an enlarged dorsomedial groove, and an opisthocoelous vertebrae, see figure 1, near the base of the tail, among others. The listed characteristics have implications for the behavior of this animal, suggesting greater relative strength of flexion of the forearm, grip strength, and range of movement in the base of the tail, implying an agile predator that was similar in size to velociraptor. The deltopectoral crest in combination with the 12-14 secondary feathers, suggested by what appears to be quill knobs on the ulna, may have been used as stabilization for hunting.
Phylogenetic analysis suggests at least three more lineages in the Campanian and Maastrichtian eras, with two in northern and one in southern Laramidia. More late cretaceous dromaeosaurids are needed to clarify its relationships within Dromaeosauridae.

We follow up on that bittersweet Alamosaurus death with some goofy Troodontids, I would have preferred it if they just recolored the Velociraptor model and had these guys be Dineobellator, but can't be too picky. Their antics are at least fun to watch.
Tumblr media
Enter T. rex! or "Ojo Alamo Indeterminate Tyrannosaur" if you're annoying.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And look at that! Blood! Gore! I guess it's ok to show it if it's a scavenging event.
Tumblr media
Don't think we've seen the T. rex model from this angle before, damn those are some exaggerated brow bosses.
Tumblr media
Love the start of this fight as they size each other up, neither backing down and the Quetzalcoatlus even starting to close in, despite how big and awesome T. rex is you also can't help but feel a bit cornered alongside him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Love, love, love this fight! First off seeing them side by side reminds you just how massive Quetz are, but with air superiority too it really does feel scary. Sure they'd never be able to kill a rex, but I can understand his tactical retreat after that beating

Yay a new dinosaur was described today! Meet dinoeobellator notohesperus, a small New Mexico velociraptorine that lived around 66 million years ago and is an example of dromeosaur diversification leading up to the KT extinction :]

First 1/3 of the 30 day dinosaur drawing challenge, though really I did a few per day. It’s been good to have a drawing project, no less one with dinos :)

#fanartfriday is here, why not get myself a good move by posting a drawing where I’m already drawn from last Wednesday. This is Tanjiro kamado from Demon Slayer as dromaeosaurid Dineobellator notohesperus. Combine the both anime of the series and even my style to form of pre-anthropomorphic saurian. Tanjiro kamado from Demon Slayer/kimetsu no yaiba belongs to Koyoharu gotouge. #myart #sketchbookapp #dineobellator #dineobellatornotohesperus #dromaeosauridae #velociraptorinae #feathereddinosaur #tanjiroukamado #tanjiro #tanjirokamado #tanjirou #demonslayer #kimetsunoyaiba #fanart #fanartanime #paleoart #artistsoninstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/Ci3gr_4LweF/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Sixty-seven million years ago during the Late Cretaceous Period, the giant pterosaur Quetzalcoatlus northropi carries off a young Dineobellator notohesperus. The great flying reptile is probably going to feed its dromaeosaurid prey to her hatchlings.
Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, large pterosaurs like Quetzalcoatlus would have ruled the skies. When fully grown, they would have rivaled small aircraft in size, with a wingspan nearing forty feet (or twelve meters) in length.
