This or That Taste Edition
1. cherry or strawberry?
Cherry, all the way
2. coffee or tea?
I'm a slut for both.
3. chocolate or vanilla?
Chocolate, specifically dark chocolate. 70% is my sweet spot.
4. bitter or sweet?
I tend toward bitter.
5. crunchy or chewy?
Chewy, cruncy hurts my teeth.
6. pudding or yogurt?
Yogurt, ever since i got my wisdom teeth removed - and i only ate pudding for like two weeks straight - i hate pudding.
7. warm or cold drinks?
Cold. I'll go for that iced drink no matter how cold it gets. A few stupid stories to go with that one.
8. bland or spicy?
Spicy. I can't stand bland food. 🤮
9. ice cream or frozen yogurt?
Frozen yogurt, specifically fruit flavored or sorbets. Not a hufe fan of frozen dairy anymore.
10. fruits or vegetables?
Fruit hands down. I have trouble keeping fruit in the house and not eating it all at once.

*whispers* imagine a steve/tony/bucky au where...
Tony, Steve and Bucky were all friends/dating/whatever they wanted to do back in the day. Tony falls (instead of Bucky) and bucky and Steve crash into the ocean. If you wanted to stick kind of to the original plot ish
That’s a pretty big mush of the timeline, though, to squash Tony back a minimum of fifty-odd years. Though, I once wrote a flipflop where Tony was Captain America and in order to make Tony alive in WW2, I made him an illegitimate child left on Howard’s doorstep when Howard was like 16, so it’s doable...
It helps explain (though never excuses) Howard’s utter trashcan parenting, some, though, and if Tony was captured along with Bucky and the rest of the 107th, then it might also explain why Howard was willing to fly Steve over enemy territory for a rescue op. You wind up with Tony more or less replacing Dernier as the demolitions expert on the Howling Commandos, and...
Congratulations for making the pain happen.
(On the other hand, with no Tony in the present, there’s no Iron Man, either, which results in some problems.)

What are the different types of personality disorders? Is it possible for one to transpire from events such as parental death, loss of close friend, and kidnapping? Does this manifest differently in men than women? Would this cause the character to lash out against and be super protective of someone in a nearly manipulative way. I know my character is mentally scarred but as I move into editing I want to make sure I'm getting this right. Thx.
Hooboy, you asked a lot of questions here.
The different types of personality disorders are:
Paranoid
Schizoid
Schizotypal
Antisocial
Borderline
Histrionic
Narcissistic
Avoidant
Dependent
OCPD
(each of those leads to a link to my demystifying series on them. See also the General Personality Disorder Criteria here.)
Personality disorders don’t “start” from singular traumas like you listed there. They’re called “personality disorders” because they fundamentally represent how a character is. They’ve essentially always been like this. See here for some more general qualities of personality disorders as a whole.
Gender rates of personality disorders are pretty skewed. It’s unclear whether these disorders are actually more common in their respective genders or if cultural gender norms and stereotypes are unfairly skewing the results.
More men:
Antisocial
Paranoid
Schizotypal
OCPD
Slightly more men:
Narcissistic
Schizoid
Roughly equal:
Avoidant
Dependent
Slightly more women:
Histrionic*
More women:
Borderline
* Rates vary a lot, but it skews female.
Unfortunately, there is not enough data on the prevalence of personality disorders in genders other than male and female.
As for “lashing out and being super protective in a manipulative way” - I’m not sure what you mean by this. Could you elaborate?
And for making sure your character is “mentally scarred” following trauma - I’d look into Post-traumatic stress disorder (see here) or acute stress disorder (see here).

ok. Hey! I have to write a persuasive speech for my speech class, and I was thinking about maybe the need for the public to recognize and accept that emotional service dogs are real service dogs and are very important! Could you point me towards areas to research bc I'm kind of lost as how to start. thanks...
Hi there, thanks for choosing to write about service dogs! I think there’s some confusion though because there’s no such thing as an emotional service dog. Emotional support animals are very important and necessary for their owners, but they are not service dogs. They are not trained to perform tasks and do not have the right to accompany their handler into public places like SDs (though they can still ride on airplanes and stay in no-pets housing). You might be thinking of a psychiatric service dog (PSD), which is a service dog trained to perform tasks that lessen their handler’s psychiatric disability.
Some of the things to cover in your assignment might include what kind of disabilities a PSD can assist with, what sort of tasks a PSD might perform for their handler (we have some task lists in our FAQ), what a PSD looks like (they can be small or large depending on what tasks are needed), and the importance of leaving a SD team alone and not confronting them even if the handler doesn’t look disabled. I hope that gives you some ideas!

Quick Question for Writeblr
When do you personally consider a story/novel a WIP?
When the story idea comes? When you start writing the first page? After the first draft? When you start outlining? When you start brainstorming?

Can you recommend writing blogs to follow?
Hello anon!! This is a couple days late but I do have some recs!!
For rly good writing tips and also just a great person all around, I recommend brynwrites (who I’m not gonna tag bc they’re already super busy and I don’t want to bother them)! I feel like everyone already kinda knows about Bryn, but I can confirm that they’re really great and also that their advice is awesome because you can see how good their writing is in their book, Our Bloody Pearl!!
@gingerly-writing has super (haha get it they write superheroes) good prompts and is also really nice!
I’m pals with @ardentlythieving, who isn’t really a “writeblr” but is currently writing a Cold War Kennedy/Khrushchev fic that is a parody of My Immortal, and I think this is important enough to warrant a recommendation here!
@hamsterwritin has a suuuper rad wip, and also v good cats.
@couchwriting keeps writing SUCH GOOD STUFF and is very funny and good! Good concepts and good writing!! Fun stuff with how she uses mythology.
@taz-writes has some really fun fantasy stuff and also CAN SING???? OPERA???
@mybookisbad‘s book is NOT bad actually!! Go check out her Valkrya wip!!
@goatscantwrite CAN write! She’s working on some fantasy stuff right now that deals with witches, I believe, and just sounds SO COOL.
@emorawrites has a suuuper rad wip with fae!!
@yourbitchystudentwriter has some rad wips and is also very good at art!!
@theclichestories is super great and I always have fun hearing about their characters!!
@hypotheticallywriting has a fantasy wip that I really enjoy hearing them talk about!!
@the-overgrowth has a super rad faery wip with characters whom I ADORE. You can hear them talk about their other wips at @eff-off!
I’m running out of time! So, here’s some more people, including some new people I’ve recently started talking to who are really rad:
@im-tryingtowrite @goose-books @sieryn @eldestwrites @elisalromagnoli @actually-a-raccoon-with-a-pen @prettydangereux @castles-of-words @rrrawrf @hechiceria @an-author-in-progress @quilowrites @ecritblr @hotchocandink @elliewritesstories @boy-wcnder @briarch @knmartinshouldbewriting and like SO MANY MORE. I’ve missed so many cool people on this list!! But this is a good starting point!!

We never really see Sherlock *physically* fighting Moriarty in his mind palace. This chapter is my take on why.
Many thanks to @elisalromagnoli for her nice words and kind support. And @beguilewritesstuff for checking in on me and keeping me going.

10 Question Tag Game?
Tagged by @kiarazuri
Questions kiarazuri asked me:
If your WIP could have tie-in media what would you want it to be? Comic, show (cartoon or live action), manga, play, movie (animated or live action), etc? This is something I’ve thought about before, and I think it would most likely be an animated film of some sort. I don’t know if I would trust a live-action film to properly portray my babies...I’m so particular about things.
If your OC could travel anywhere, where would they go and why? I’m not really sure. Their world is my own creation, and I can’t think of any one place they would go to that isn’t already part of the plot.
Does religion play a big or small or non-existant part in your WIP? (Not necessarily the plot but more the culture itself) Currently, I would say there isn’t a set religion that is impactful to the story. However, there are specific cities in the realm that rely very heavily on tradition and religion.
Is your OC a coffee, tea, or juice type of morning-person? She’s a tea person.
If you had the chance to hop over into another universe, without having any previous knowledge of said universe and were completely blind to it’s history, and without the possibility of return, would you? All the nope. I don’t do well with not knowing things, and going blindly into the unknown is not my cup of tea (which is hilarious and cruel on my part, since I put my characters through this quite often).
Would your WIP Main Character rather be a vampire, a werewolf, or a witch? If I had to choose, she’d probably be a witch.
What (if anything) would make your OC turn to the “dark side”? She would never willingly choose the dark side.
Are you excited for Black Panther? Yup!
What’s the age range you limit your main characters to be?  I don’t really limit the age of my characters to any one specific number. I find main characters are usually close to the age I am when I’m writing, so I have one main character at age 17, another in early 20s and still another in late 20s-early 30s (I’m not quite there yet). I think it really just depends on the character and not so much just sticking them in a specific age range to ‘fit in’.
Does your OC believe in medicine or The Power of Perseverance? Both? Both.
Questions I’m asking the people I tag:
What are your current writing goals?
When did you first discover your love of writing?
What motivates you to keep writing?
How important is world building for your writing? (For example, do you need to have your world completely established and mapped out before you can start writing? Or, do you not need a set world/environment in order to write your story?
Pen on paper, or typing everything up in a word doc of some sort?
Favourite author?
Something you do to get the creative juices flowing to start writing? (music, atmosphere, a particular article of clothing or lack there of...I mean what? I don’t do that. Ahem.)
Do you write better at night, or first thing in the morning?
How do you take your coffee/tea? (And if you don’t drink coffee/tea, how do you even function? Weirdo.)
You have to spend the rest of your life with only one season, which one do you choose and why? @zekethegm @typeaadventures @albatris @audreyroseb @brynwrites @bucketsiler @byjillianmaria @bethanywritesbooks @christinawritesfiction @cog-writes @dwobbit-under-the-mountain @elisalromagnoli @feathered-quill @firewritten @gingerly-writing @itstheenglishkid @ironinkpen @kiarazuri @lizard-is-writing @ladylilymalfoy904034 @burningemberjade @teashoesandhair @the-modern-typewriter @isnappedmypencil @writerlydays @she-who-fights-and-writes @raiswanson @stephaniewrites @rhiannon-writes
