Welcome to a fun lil miniseries all about bringing light onto less recognised plural terminology and different types of systems (and plural non-systems and other non-system but still related terms, but that would've made the title way chunkier than it already is esfdgt)

1. Empty Systems

Previously plural folks that still have the ability to become plural again!

Empty systems can be people that have gone through a form of final fusion, but it also includes all kinds of other experiences such as system collapses or headmates leaving alltogether (see walk-ins) - the important part is that they've still experienced being plural and may even experience it again

Rotatien or rotagenic systems are a type of system that frequently becomes an empty system due to collapses, and each time they resplit, their origin changes

geez Hi sorry to bother you guys so soon after youve re-opened youre inbox but could wei get some advice ir sonething? so yaknow we’re/im an empty system that fused and stuff yk and obviously theres these little like. lingering bits from the sysmates and stuff (most notably our gamzee altering my speech patterns, our Theoretical Kanaya making herself known *after* the fusion and more recently a slight mituna re-awakening) ive noticed that our sysmates have almost all ended up turning in to kintypes! which im not particularly surprised by but the thing is: i (mr. host guy) have a Concerning number of kinsiders. like in the 100s (and the number of confirmed kintypes is just as concerning) do you think theres a chance its related to how my systen Went, or is it like. a whole other thing tbh its kinda stressing me out now cause i have to keep track of everything lol /lh

Hey, this isn’t a bother at all. This is a tricky situation, and ultimately we feel only you and your system will be able to determine exactly what’s going on with y’all.

It’s possible to be a kinplural system - to have a system that formed due to kintypes splitting off and becoming their own headmates. So, to us, it makes sense that the inverse of this could happen - a system who fused and in the process remnants of the previous headmates remained as kintypes. If this is the case for you, all these kintypes likely are directly connected to your system, but that may not necessarily be the case.

You may find it useful to use an app like SimplyPlural to help manage and keep track of your kintypes. While it’s true the app is made by and for systems, it probably could have a bunch of practical uses for those who have lots of kintypes or other identities to keep track of. Also just starting a list of your kintypes, only adding to it when you notice new ones/are able to, and just slowly building it up over time could potentially also help with this.

Honestly we might recommend allowing yourself to just… exist. You don’t have to be 100% on top of or in tune with all of your kintypes at all times. It’s okay to just be yourself and connect with things in the moment, without the stress of feeling like you have to have full control over everything you feel/identify with. Maybe try some meditation or self awareness exercises to help yourself relax. Of course, you’re welcome to do as you wish - this is just a suggestion.

It is possible to unfuse, but it is more likely you will split again or otherwise gan new members, especially after a few months to years. That being said, if you did fuse, it is probably because being a singlet is what is safest/healthiest for you in the time and space you are in right now. If that changes, you’ll likely become a system again, but for now, you are exactly who you need to be to survive. 

It’s okay to grieve. It’s a huge change, and it’s okay to miss who you were. That’s entirely normal. You have the right to feel however you feel, for however long it takes.

Here's to people who used to be/identify as plural, but they're not anymore.

There's a couple different reasons why this might happen (which I'll get to in a minute), but the important thing is that they still deserve love, respect, compassion, and understanding from the plural community.

Shoutout to:

Empty systems, fully fused systems, etc.

Gateway systems that have had all their members walk-out

Systems that have gone completely dormant

Those who have experienced a total system collapse

Rotatien systems [link] or other systems with cyclical shifts in member counts

People who know their headmates are there, but they've lost communication with them somehow

Those who choose to create headmates again after they're no longer plural

The ones who genuinely thought they were plural, but turned out to not be

And anyone else I missed

It's ok to be wrong, it's ok to not stay the same forever, and it's ok to just be you. You don't have to prove anything to anyone, especially not your own validity. You're perfect as you are!

I still don't understand why Crux had to die for the tomb to be opened at the end of NTN. Wasn't the tomb already open? How could it have re-set to need John's blood again?

It sounds like Paul was somehow able to get some of Kiriona's blood despite her impenetrable skin ("Take all of it." "I don't need all of it - but I need to keep it wet..."). And that maybe they only needed "fresh thanergy" because Kiriona (and presumably her blood) is dead. Because Harrow didn't need to kill anybody the first time she went in, right?

But in HTN it's implied that Harrow entered the tomb multiple times and that it took her a while to dismantle the traps in each section. And she presumably didn't have Gideon's blood under her nails every time she went in (hard to say for sure, since the memory recounted to us has been edited to be Certified Griddle-Free). (And anyways, doesn't Pyrrha say in HTN that fresh blood is thalergenic, not thanergenic? So why would Gideon's blood being fresh meet the thanergy requirement?)

So I don't understand why the tomb wasn't just open for our little rescue crew to bust in, and if it had been re-locked, why Crux dying unlocked it. (Or how they got Gideon's blood, really, but for that one I'm willing to just accept the magic of "it happened offscreen.")
