@bastxrds (ventress), moved for beta.
It was strange seeing Red return night after night. Pandemonium wasn't the sort of club that mundanes visited. Not unless they were connected to downworlders. Of course, they had some mundanes that loved the atmosphere Magnus had created and he made certain the rules were followed, but for someone like Red it wasn't the sort of place she should be seen. And yet there she was again, back at the club, looking a little out of place and it had her wondering why. Of course, she knew the sort of temptations the club held. Even though Saj used it for relaxation and a time to pull her thoughts together, some of the others used it for other means. So what brought Red back? A part of her knew she was part of the reason, but what were the others?
"Guess I'll have to talk with the bouncer about the frat boys that keep slipping in," she teased, smirking at the other. That was the downside to allowing mundanes into the club; there would always be the sorts who thought they were cooler than they really were. She' dealt with them before and they learned quickly that she didn't put up with them. Red wasn't her and she could imagine what hell she had to endure on her own. Unfortunately, she couldn't come every night. Not when she had a job to do. "Hrm, I don't know," she teased, looking like she was thinking about the question. Saj had missed her. It was nice coming to the club and seeing her. Better than dealing with the judgement she got at the Institute.
the place has a grip on her that she can't put into words. she'd tried but Simon just didn't get it, & this was decidedly not the sort of place she talked about with her coworkers. it wasn't just the mysterious date woman she kept running into, either; something about this place felt utterly correct to ever fibre of her being. it was almost like... not quite COMING HOME but maybe in the foyer of wherever it was she was supposed to call just that.
which made absolutely no sense whatsoever.
the club itself wasn't something she could ever really commit to paper either when she wanted to remember it. it was like it existed under a veil that shifted & obscured the details every time she sat down to put pen or pencil to paper. she could remember the other's face, though, & the strange tattoos that seemed to adorn her in varying stages of vibrancy.
she could remember her drink order, too, but that was also beside the point.
' Magnus dealt with them already, ' Clary finally offers. the club owner seemed to always slide in right at the perfect moment & if she didn't know better, it was as if he was keeping an especial eye on her when the other wasn't there. ' I think you did, ' the redhead finally teases. ' you walked in like a guided missile, and I'm not that interesting otherwise. '

The lack of confirmation of Nobara's status leads me to believe Gege has something planned for her as the end of the Everyone vs Sukuna battle Aka the "Decisive Battle" draws to an end. This situation totally reminds me of the "Enchain" plot thread. It felt for a long stretch of the manga like Gege had even forgotten about the Enchain binding vow.
Except he hadn't.
The hush-hush around Nobara might be due to a similar situation. It might mean that she will be a key player to defeat Sukuna. OR she might be part of the conclusion of the story in a different way like bringing a ray of sunshine and hope to the fandom with just the confirmation of her survival, after Gege breaks our hearts one last time before the manga's end lol.

one of the things i find most compelling about jason and cass as a concept is. like. you cannot convince me they wouldn't both *like* each other, as people. in any non-capes au i absolutely think they would and should be friends, or at least have the potential to *become* friends.
but they have irreconcilable moral differences, and even in story concepts where jason stops playing Pinocchio and decides to be a real boy again and as such starts trying to actually act in line with his morals--they are fundamentally never going to agree. to jason there is a line people cross and stop being people. that is absolutely anathema to everything cass has ever believed in, or will ever believe in.
and there's a lot of untapped potential for tragedy there because of that. jason looking at the shit hes done he never expected to have to *live with*, and realizing he's not dying again anytime soon. and i always say this but *my* preference is to take him from that to an antihero direction-- but i see a lot of potential in him at that point, lost and alone and so desperately lonely, committing *fully* to the villain schtick, or at least as much as jason ever really commits to any schtick.
but i also actually think theres even more potential where theyre both fully committed to their beliefs and they have that fundamental disagreement. they both want to do good. they will never agree on what that means. you know?

saw the "who's your most underrated Kleypas hero" question getting bandied about (again) today, and I must say, the only answers I'll accept are:
--John McKenna/Again the Magic (I'd argue that AtM is not the DEEP CUT newer Kleypas readers think it is; before I read it, it was definitely upheld as a classic of hers, but people who want the softer boys she writes in the Ravenels... may not like this one; however, McKenna fucks RIDICULOUS lbr)
--Alex, Lord Raiford/Then Came You (yes... he calls her a bitch.... and I'll be real this made me love him more... he carried her over his shoulder outta Craven's and bought her a bear I'm VERY confident in this choice)
--Kev Merripen/Seduce Me at Sunrise (thought he'd kill Win with his massive dick, tied her up and took her to his fuck cottage, is Heathcliff if Heathcliff wasn't horrible basically)
--Leo Hathaway/Married by Morning (fun bout wounded king, "haha" in the streets and "oh shit" in the sheets, notable for making Catherine ask him to touch her pussy in explicit and specific language)

Kauze 120cm and Hunter
Send 📏 (or "height") + the height of your muse to compare with mine
She was originally supposed to find a way to insult the kid about it, though she stops herself quickly upon realizing a certain gap in her knowledge.
“How tall are kids your age supposed to be…? Is this a good sign for you or not?”
She puts a hand on her chin. “I’m pretty sure I was taller than you when I was your age. Or was I…?”

leafpool should’ve been the fourth cat. it starts with her getitng told by starclan that squirrel and bramble were meant to be together. something they only did because they knew about her eventual kits with crowfeather.
it’s established that starclan uses her for their bidding. she’s even named after the place where starclan communes with them. so why wouldn’t they make her be the fourth? she is where it began so she must be the end.
she would essentially replace firestar’s whole role in po3 and oots. she is given the prophecy of the three instead of him. although she immediately understands why starclan told her the prophecy. so she could make them as strong as powerful. so instead she tries to play down their powers as much as possible, just wanting lion and jay to be normal kids.
but she’d know that holly wasn’t the third. she knows her daughter is not a dove. she is an owl. she is silent, and watching. waiting. for her moment. when it’s finally confirmed that holly is powerless her heart breaks for her and desperately wishes to comfort her but knows she cannot.
she loathes starclan for what they’ve done to her. for what they stole from her. and now making her the fourth cat? why couldn’t they do that for holly?
when she goes to starclan. be it through the moonpool or in her death she lets loose on them. there’s nothing she can do at that point but she doesn’t care. she’s infuriated at being a pawn in their game. she is alive. she has a family. how dare they treat her like a toy to be played with and thrown away when bored.
she forsakes them and chooses to wander the world as a ghost, watching over the futrue generations. desperate to warm them about starclans ways and to not trust them under any circumstance. starclan cares for no one.
