Guten Abend everyone, still getting dragged over the studying coals, but fuck it we ball.

No outright smut in this one, mainly just focusing on their relationship since im exhausted, but I hope its still enjoyable.

In the One Piece universe, being tall can mean a lot of things. Being taller than Law just means you have to be somewhere over 6 ft 5, or taller, if that’s what you prefer. Being intimidating isn’t too hard either, especially if you are a fellow pirate.

Seeing you two together can be a little off-putting to the people around you, at least the ones that aren’t part of your crew, who know you two on a more personal level.

No one would dare to make assumptions in the beginning of a meeting, since Law already has quite the reputation, and either your scary aura or your own dangerous reputation makes people shut up. They might have ideas to themselves, but they wouldn’t verbalize it.

It probably comes up during an afterparty of some kind, after you guys have defeated the baddie of the week and you’re all kicking back. Since Law isn’t a big fan of drinking, you would end up being the one getting tipsy out of the two of you.

At some point during the night, Kidd or others who are more comfortable with you two, would start making jabs or ask questions, as one does when you get wasted. It becomes clear pretty damn quick though, that everyone thinks that Law is the one who bottoms.

Law isn’t the type to out your guy’s bedroom life, but I could still imagine him asking, in a bit of a tense tone, why they think that. That’s when you guys get the explanation from your allies and friends. But it all boils down to you being taller, bigger, scarier and with a stronger presence. So, it just made sense to them.

It gets a bit of a laugh from you, and you can tell from the tension in Laws jaw that it gets on his nerves, maybe even hurting his ego a little. But you also know your lover wouldn’t verbalize those thoughts, not wanting to admit something like an assumption of his bedroom role would hit him in any way.

When you guys get back to the polar tang, one would assume Law would drag you off to the bedroom to show you and him that your friends and allies’ assumptions were wrong. But Law is also a doctor, so he wouldn’t want to do such a thing when you’re drunk.

Instead, he gets some water in you, gets you something to eat, helps you get washed down if that’s what you need, and then the two of you conk out in bed, Law the big spoon even if you are taller. Hes like your tattooed backpack, if the height difference is big enough.

Law doesn’t end up making a move on you in the morning either if you suffer from hangovers, instead your lover would make sure you were alright, and get you something for the hangover if its bad enough. His ego may have been wounded a little, but he’s a respectful guy, especially to you as his lover.

That evening, or the day after though, you’re all his, not that you mind though. Seeing as all your crewmates are most likely still out partying or suffering from hangovers, you two have the polar tang all to yourself.

As you enjoy laying back and receiving pleasure without doing much in return, Law gets to do most of the work. He doesn’t need the same in return, as giving you pleasure is satisfying for him. Being in charge would feel quite nice for him, as it allows him to have an eye on the entire situation and what’s going on.

Law would definitely also use his devil fruit power when you guys are together, since it would make it easier for the both of you, and with his devil fruit he’s able to reach parts of you no one else can.

In the end, people you meet, and probably most of your friends and allies, think you are the top still, but Law wouldn’t mind too much after you show him that you don’t think lesser of him or let other people’s assumptions bother you or your relationship.

Everything will be fine

Summary: Kai takes care of Wyldfyre after escaping the Cloud Kingdom.

- Lloyd, we can't abandon the monks and Euphrasia to their fate with Ras and those guys with scary wolf masks - Arin responded as he approached the helm of the Ship with Lloyd as they left the Cloud Kingdom.

- We need to create a new plan, Arin, clearly Ras has a new power, and that guy with smoke powers who used that strange Spinjitzu-type power is very strong. We need to create a new plan – Lloyd responded to his young apprentice while he tried to maintain his composure without having to remember his strange and terrifying visions of those guys with wolf masks.

He did not want to accept it, but seeing that his visions were true he bothered Lloyd too much, almost at the beginning of the fight he trembled with fear, but he had to forget his fears if he wanted to contribute well to the situation.

- AGH! HURTS! – Wyldfyre complained as he fell to the ground and held his leg in pain, it was obvious that that strange power that Ras's apprentice used seriously damaged his leg. Even some of the fabric of his pants was tattered and almost singed.

- Wyldfyre! – Kai was the first to arrive with Wyldfyre. He carefully managed to sit her up so he could better inspect her leg, and it was not a good view – Hey, calm down, calm down, let me check –

Kai revealed Wyldfyre's injured leg and as he feared, the wound was quite serious, red marks and burns were shown on almost his entire leg, that strange power that Ras' strange ally used managed to disintegrate almost all of Wyldfyre's boot.

- That... doesn't look good - Sora mentioned sheepishly as she looked at Wyldfyre's leg, even Riyu groaned in a worried manner.

Hearing that he kept making pitiful sounds, Kai quickly managed to find the first aid kit and took out bandages and medicines so he could stabilize Wyldfyre's leg a little while they arrived at the monastery. Since Zane was also unavailable at the moment, Kai, Nya, and Lloyd would be the only ones who could help Wyldfyre with his injury, at least with the little medical knowledge they had as Ninjas.

- Don't worry, everything will be fine... - Kai managed to calm her down a little by hugging her, which impressed Nya and Lloyd, since Kai has always been the first person to comfort them as a kind of father when one of them was hurt.

After arriving at the monastery Kai tried to take Wyldfyre directly to the infirmary but she refused and demanded to be taken to Heatwave's stable, not wanting to hear any more of her tantrums, Kai listened to her and took her to Heatwave, Nya had to carry the necessary medical supplies to heal her while Lloyd took Zane to the monastery to receive the necessary repairs, even Sora offered to help Lloyd with Zane.

Right now Kai was bandaging Wyldfyre's injured leg, Heatwave was too worried to see the human girl she raised, as if she were her own child, being injured. But at least the dragon calmed down to let Kai finish properly bandaging Wyldfyre's leg.

- Ouch! – Wyldfyre complained after Kai tightened the bandage on her leg a little.

- I'm sorry - Kai quickly apologizes - But the bandage must be tightly wrapped around your leg, Wyldfyre -

Wyldfyre was lucky that his leg was not completely broken as many thought, but if he was seriously injured, as if that strange power of corrupted Spinjitzu had burned his skin almost completely to the bone, Zane may not be able to do a quick scan, but at least thanks to Nya he was able to find a good remedy to better treat Wyldfyre's wound. The bad thing was to see that even the poor wild girl was suffering from the pain, even though she tried to hide it, Kai knew that her injury would prevent her from walking for a long time.

At some point, Nya went up to the monastery to bring Wydlfyre something to eat so he could relax better. After all, she loved all kinds of food.

- Ugh! This sucks! I hate every time I get hurt but this is too much for me! - She complains as she now looked at her newly bandaged leg - That “smoke boy” is going to pay me! He will feel the heat of my flames! – His abrupt movement caused his leg to complain of pain and caused Wyldfyre to stop her speech while she tried to hold onto her injured leg.

- Calm down, Wyldfyre. I know how you feel, I also hate being hurt, but I promise you that this will happen soon - Kai approached Wyldfyre and helped her lie down comfortably next to Heatwave, who, by the way, had no intention of leaving her human girl.

Kai knew from his own experience what it was like to be seriously injured, how many times does he not remember the injuries he received after each battle, mission or unexpected adventure he has had to face after becoming a ninja, he even remembers the painful moments he suffered in his life long before he was a ninja. Wyldfyre may have grown up in the Wilderness, but she didn't have to face the dangers that Kai had to experience throughout his life.

He even remembers the times his friends got hurt after each confrontation. Kai always blamed himself when he saw you hurt, he told himself over and over again that he had to be more careful, faster, stronger to be able to save them and keep everyone safe. He even vividly remembered those moments when he would kill himself training to the point of exhaustion in order to perfect his fighting habits, and there were even times when his hands would bleed due to the pressure he put on himself.

Kai wants more than anything to find a way to prevent his friends from getting hurt, even he would give anything to forget those painful memories of seeing a member of his team seriously injured.

- Whatever - Wylfire murmurs, using a haughty and childish tone as he leans closer to Heatwave - I hate this - he moans as he tries to move his leg.

- You finished? – Nya suddenly responds as she arrives with a tray with some food and some tea.

Sighing, Kai turned to see his sister – Yes… luckily her leg is not broken, but if it took a while for her to heal –

- What's that? – Wyldfyre suddenly asks with interest when he sees the tray that Nya had.

- Just some food and tea, it won't heal it instantly, but it will take away some of the pain so you can be more comfortable - Nya mentions approaching Wyldfyre.

-I thought they had a magical tea that healed all wounds – Wyldfyre responded somewhat confused as she scratched her head.

-There are magical teas, but from our experience, it is better to use the normal ones and not the magical ones that make you experience crazy things – Kai exclaims when remembering his experiences with magical teas, even Nya had to agree.

Growling in frustration, Wyldfyre accepts the tray Nya brought and proceeds to reluctantly eat the appetizers first.

Kai motioned to her sister so she could leave him alone with Wyldfyre, Nya caught what her brother was trying to say and left Kai and Wyldfyre alone while she gave them her space.

- Hey - Kai began as he sat down next to him - Just because you're hurt doesn't mean we'll leave you out of our next missions, Wyldfyre. You have to rest and regain strength, and you will see that very soon you will return to action with us. Also...-stretching his arm towards the cup of tea served on the tray, Kai brought it to Wyldfyre - This is very effective for you - Kai smiled affectionately as he offered Wyldfyre to drink the tea.

With no other option, Wyldfyre accepted the cup of tea and drank some, it didn't have much flavor, but at least it left a relaxing feeling in his body.

- Everything will be fine, I promise you - using a confident tone and showing a look that made anyone around him feel safe, Wyldfyre could see confidence and security in Kai's eyes, perhaps he is the only person in the monastery who really I had more faith in her than anyone else.

Just seeing that comforting look from Kai made Wyldfyre completely lose all worry about her injury now.

From a distance, Nya saw the way Kai looked at Wyldfyre, it was like seeing a father and daughter, which reminded Nya of her childhood in her parents' blacksmith shop, Kai looked at her the same way and so did he did with Lloyd.

Nya knows that Kai has been the only person she has had in her life for as long as she can remember, and although she doesn't openly admit it, Kai was more like a father than a brother to Nya. Maybe it was because of the fact that they grew up together since their childhood, but Kai has been the only person who has raised her without anyone's help. Despite not knowing how to act like a real father, Nya already saw Kai as the only one father figure. He did the same with Lloyd, he still remembered those moments when Kai helped Lloyd with other activities that were not just training to be a ninja, he still remembers those moments when he saw Kai teach Lloyd to cook a little for him, when he He sometimes took him to Ninjago City Park, when he gave him candy, when he let him help him repair the ship, and when he took him to watch the sunsets over the roofs of some buildings.

Nya knew that Wyldfyre was very lucky to know Kai.

Seeing that Wyldfyre would be in good hands, she decided to go up to the monastery again to check on Lloyd and Zane.

- Well, one less problem to worry about – Nya mentions.

- Master Wu's scrolls show nothing about Shatterspin. Whatever that move was, there doesn't seem to be any record - frustrated, he throws the scroll onto the coffee table.

I fell off the deck steps of the Ship after tripping on a loose board, I hit both knees and one bled more than the other, Kai picked me up and took me to my room where he healed me and gave me several of the cookies that Zane had made - with affection, Lloyd remembers those times when he was still a child and lived with the others on the Ship.

- Or the time broken my arm when I was trying to repair one of the Ship's engines, Kai was the first to help me and almost yelled at Zane to take care of me immediately. He stayed by my side the entire time. And in compensation for not leaving me alone he said that he would do whatever I wanted for a week – despite mentioning that moment, Nya seemed to have a satisfying smile on her face.

- If I remember - Lloyd laughs - You literally made him your personal assistant in your projects, you stole the best of his food, you forced him to watch those cheesy movies that you and Jay watched and you forced him to go shopping with you - Lloyd could clearly remember the frustration that the Red Ninja experienced that week.

- Well, he brought it on himself by getting on my nerves when he tried to play the role of “mother hen” with me – Nya excuses herself, although in a funny way.

- Do you think everything will be okay? – Lloyd suddenly asks, as if he expected Nya's response to take away some of the weight he now carried on his shoulders.

-Yes – Nya didn't think about it too much, she just said it with complete certainty that she had – Yes, everything will be fine. You will see -

- I hope so… -

That day, everyone was resting, so that the next day they would have a real plan.

I love writing jealousy stuff <3

Suji doesn't necessarily gets jealous tbh but she has her moments. She's a type that trusts you but doesn't trust other people with you kinda person and you're the same so she never experienced your jealous side. That's why she was so surprised when she finally experienced it. Honestly she would watch you with a small smile, finding it really funny. Later she would tease you a little about it.

One of Harin's favorite things about you is how different you are from her. You were just so lovely and kind and so pure in her eyes that she just couldn't help loving that so when she saw how jealous you got over Doah and how different you acted, she was surprised. She was surprised how much she liked your colder side, more aggressive side. Definitely gonna make you jealous on purpose just to tease you later.

Jaeun is not used to any kind of jealous from her side or yours. You two are just peacefully happy with each other and that's all that you both need. That's why she was so confused when you got jealous over Suji, she never expected that. Immediately tries to clear every misunderstandings up with you, not wanting anything to leave a scar on your relationship. In conclusion doesn't like getting jealous or you getting jealous.

It may seem like Yerim loves you being jealous but it's quite the opposite actually. At first it boosts her ego but doesn't like your jealousy lasting too long, much preferring your relationship going as it always does without it. She especially hates it when you get jealous over Eunjung or her other friends since friendship is really important to her and she hates when two things most important to her clash.

Honestly no amount of your jealousy can beat Jaehyung when she's jealous like let's get that out of the way first and because of that she never minds it, as long as it's not too big and not too unreasonable then she doesn't mind, even finds you cute like that. Will 100% make you jealous on purpose as she's a little shit. Will also tease you because of it.

Eunjung is the jealous one in your relationship, that's why seeing you jealous over Yerim surprised her a lot. She never saw you jealous before and she would lie if she said she didn't like it, she actually liked it too much. Made her feel really loved an desired. She will stop you if the jealousy seemed a little too much though.

Seeing you jealous like that will mess with Doah's head in a lot of different ways because why did she kinda liked it? Why did her heart beat like that when she saw you so possessive? Over Harin too? Wooyi is also obsessed with you being jealous. Will brag to everyone about how scary her gf is when she's jealous as if she wasn't even more of a maniac when she sees another girl next to you 😭 Won't make you jealous on purpose though but will enjoy seeing you jealous.

Wait no continuing from my tags on my previous reblog, Veronica and her relationship with Scary I think explains a lot of why Scary has such a bad grasp on her emotions.

Like Veronica doesn’t seem like a very emotionally open person to begin with, in addition to the fact that she was a single mom lawyer who wouldn’t have the time to spend with Scary if she wanted to keep a roof over their heads.

Scary mostly grew up with a single parent who worked a job with very long hours. She probably didn’t get to have those emotional talks with her mom when something was bothering her, maybe bc if it wasn’t big enough than she couldn’t justify talking to her busy mom about it, or maybe Veronica just didn’t pick up on it. That’s just a natural part of being a single parent, you miss things, and sometimes those are important things, even if you try your best and you love your kid.

It could also in part play into Scary’s want for attention? Like that’s naturally a very teenage want, but like add on the fact that her mom is generally a very busy woman and her limited free time is suddenly being taken up by this loser cringe guy that she started dating instead of spending time with her cool daughter.

Like I think this is all SO interesting when contrasted with Taylor’s relationship with Cassandra. Cass is very very rich. In all honesty, she doesn’t really NEED to work. She can easily take time to spend with her kid, and I think it really shows in how close she and Taylor are.

Just, comparing the two teens and their relationship with their single parent moms in relation to their jobs and their class is just very interesting to me

Kind of rough but

-I've played around with the idea with Eruno being from an orphanage/foster home(the "because you've got a proper family" bit) but I go back and forth on this one.

-Nio and Sakuma are friends! He does shifts at Bitwave they hang out there. The poor boy needs someone to fend off the fangirls.

-Eruno and Akitaka accompany Haruya on deliveries sometimes. Pals.

-When Aira's mimetic muscles get installed she doesn't really quite get how to use them immediately. Her expressions start out real stiff(which she expresses dissatisfaction with, and gets help from the others) to real exaggerated and overplayed(think unbridled rage or pained anguish at things that just kind of annoy her).

-Also she has Kiri make her taller so she can grow alongside her friends!

-Also Also by 1beat she has at LEAST one sibling who's just, a really muscled out doll in frilly clothes.

-Meru listens to death metal. She'd hoped it'd help her stay up better but now she just kind of likes it.

-Outside of tending to the shrine, Hakuhi has embroidery as a hobby.

-Izuchi took piano lessons when he was younger(parents made him do it to try and play up the prodigy genius image). He quit.

-That potion thing he made in 1beat was ripped from Kirai's anime but in part he'd made it after Eruno came to him Demanding a way to make her dog live longer.

-He went to Blue sun college(less because he thought he needed to and more for the benefits a degree there would give him) and got into an apprenticeship with Kiri. He keeps the lab when Kiri moves to Coco Alley(easier to skirt by the law). Familiar with the Blue Sun Trio to some extent.

-He has a sweet tooth but doesn't really admit it because he deems it unhealthy.

-While he did have a hand in the creation of the master program, he doesn't stay on the team after it's finished. Does continue to get occasional updates about it from Hiyu and Nanase though.

-His room is all clean and organized on the surface(maybe a few seashell displays, a poster covering a hole in the wall) but he keeps all the goofy weird shit stored away in drawers and under his bed.*

-I've played around with the idea of there being a 3rd Nasuga sibling who's just too young to be relevant in the game(<-no canon basis i just thought it'd be fun) but I'm not sure if I'd keep that.

-Enri has a pet hamster! He's like the band's son.

-The gang Kirara used to be a part of was like a sparkly gyaru girl gang. She never really enjoyed fighting but took a lot of lessons growing up so she was really good at it. The gang is still going strong though and at least a few of her Gyaru Friends are members(and there's at least one member who's just a plain normal ass girl that hangs around them but that's getting into oc territory).

-Rocca ends up growing up to be like Really Fucking Tall. Momori models clothes on her and remarks that she could be a model if she didn't trip over herself so much(not that she'd want to be one anyways).

-Mary has 3 siblings, they've done a way better job at staying out of the public eye(and have grown somewhat distant from her as a result).

-On account of being friends with a lot of the townspeople and having a lot of relatives, Hitohito is just one of those guys with a lot of connections. In a "guy who knows a guy" way.

-Chino is Coco Alley's mom jkasdsa.

--She brings Sora(was familiar with his family and doesn't want him to get too lonely) cookies and flowers sometimes and while he's dismissive about it he does secretly appreciate it.

-Tobari is the heiress to a big tea emporium who dipped because she got bored and/or got into a disagreement with someone over there, but continues playing up her Elegant Fancy Lady image despite living paycheck to paycheck(which I mean, good for her I guess.)

-Although Sagara knows Asuto through Hitohito, they actually interact fairly regularly in anime forums.

-Hitohito, Izuchi, and Sagara were on friendly terms when they were kids but grew distant for reasons. Hitohito and Sagara had gotten back in touch and still hang out. Heat reached out to Izuchi but was promptly brushed off, still looks out for him. Izuchi and Sagara have a weird frenemy/rival thing going on.

-Sagara has no siblings she just kind of lives alone with her mom who may or may not hate her.(although it's less "hate" so much as disappointment)

-Sagara's chicken avatar is modeled after one of her childhood pets.

-Sagara definitely Naruto runs.

-She holds DnD(\Dnd adjacent. Just some ttrpg I'm not an expert) sessions at every couple of weeks. I'm not saying Izuchi willingly participates(those commoners are hopeless without his guidance), just that she didn't exactly have very many other people to invite(Hitohito and sometimes Meu and eventually Nanashi).

-She has a knack for trying to help townspeople as part of some sort of Magical Girl Code but isn't as good at it as she thinks she is.

-She has a compartment in her arm warmers that's full of bird feed, she's made an alliance with the pigeons.

-While she does cool it with the Organization stuff, she never drops the chuuni behavior. Eventually opens a small cake shop with some edgy chuuni-esque title(debated on whether it should be in the same place Little Berry was, like after little berry closes its doors).

-Nomiya and Hiyu butt heads a lot but they both get along fine with Azusa. Somebody needs to be nice to her god damn it.

-The Kujohs have a pet dog but it's actually Azusa's. Following with the rest of the family, it's a big intimidating dog that's actually just really chill. Enri has tried to look past it but he's always very leery about visiting them.

-Nomiya's riding an adrenaline high throughout most of the game but his more calm demeanor in his events is just him going in the opposite extreme as a result of coming down from it. He's usually fairly loud and confrontational, just not THAT loud and confrontational.

-He keeps in closest touch with Tobari after the hackers are disbanded. Somewhat on account of her being able to hold her own in Break Passage the best out of the other three. She views him as a weird little brother.

-The hackers hold gatherings in memory(or what little of that memory they even retained. It's mostly secondhand from Nanashi) of Mikado where they commit minor crimes. The gathering was Kotora's idea the crime was Nomiya's.

-Sagara has a journal that she calls the Abyss Tome that's just full of fanfiction and anime drawings of herself and her friends(/enemies). Has a bunch of spell names listed down in it.

-Saaya and Meu are friends! Saaya comes to her for divinations about her love life a lot and just ends up venting. Meu's happy to listen though and tries to comfort her the best she can.

-Speaking of therapy though, Saaya does get therapy sometime post-canon and distances herself from Nanase(while a lot of Nanashi's friendships that start off on the wrong foot have room for growth, the memory thing makes things kind of... weird with her). She's in a much better state by 1beat.

-Saaya writes a lot of poetry.

-Yoh and Sagara are related. Somehow(I did consider nephew at one point but that didn't really pan out).

-So are Hiyu and Arumu. They've got that green hair and funky eyebrows.

-Akuta and Kaori date briefly(well, she's a fan of his work, and he is rich, and while he can't speak multiple languages he is well-spoken, what could go wrong?) which just ends in them breaking up over a disagreement over a book's ending. That was more the final straw though, actually getting to know him put into perspective just how far from her expectations he actually is and she's not super pleased about it. They do stay friends but something something important lesson about your idols being people.

-I feel like I've said somewhere that Kotora leaves the cafe to Rocca when he retires but I need to clarify that Kotora keeps being the cafe guy well into old age and that Rocca would be a whole adult by then.

-Kaori was the youngest of her siblings and only one to stay with her mother, she sees her dad as a good for nothing deadbeat(it wasn't an amicable divorce) and the ordeal heavily influenced how she views romantic relationships as a whole. Grew up somewhat distant from Kotora and their sister but reconnected in adulthood.

-Her "ideal guy" is just the best traits of her favorite book leads cobbled together like some kind of frankenguy. (And she might be internalizing something... who knows)

-The world did enter a more 'cyberpunk dystopia'-esque futuristic state a long time ago and the return to more traditional old timey ways is sort of in response to that, but Yasune is the only one who'd actually lived through it. Although then again the 2nd oldest character in the game is only 36 so...

This is incredibly niche to my own experience, but as a New Hampshirite, a classic Dr Who nerd, and someone who was raised on PBS, finding this (frankly boring) clip of a Dr Who pledge drive from NHPTV from the early 90s has made me happy today.

I grew up knowing of Dr Who but I don't think I ever really watched it -- even though this channel showed it until I was 12. It was broadcast on Saturday nights and I know me and my family were watching something else on one of the other 3 channels we could get instead. The most I must've seen was only in channel-surfing passing. Nevertheless, it must have been enough that when I finally did watch the show in highschool, I was struck with a weird sense of familiarity that I couldn't shake.

Finding this clip is weird and nostalgic for me; it's probably a bit too early for me to have ever seen, I was at the oldest a toddler when it aired. I found Dr. Who on the internet, but watching this is like a peek into an alternate reality where I might've watched the show as a kid on the family 13" tv, coming in fuzzily as that channel always did, in between PBS pledge drives.

#seeing Dr Who in the context of the PBS of my childhood is so weird #also its making me realize why i wouldn't have stayed to watch #(pledge season notwithstanding - i never could bother with that even for my favorite shows)#i probably saw a snippet and thought it was just another boring british historical drama like 90% of the rest of PBS's schedule #i definitely would have loved some of the more spacey episodes though #my memories of dr who before properly watching it was the classic diamond logo #and just a general sense that the show was kind of scary but intriguing in a mysterious way #so not much to go on but hey ho #I got there in the end #doctor who #pbs #classic who #tom baker

"There's a man asking after you at the market, mum," Tommy reported from somewhere behind the large bag of flour he was holding as. "Help?" he added as he banged into the table for the third time.

Rachel guided him to the slightly lower bench to the side, and he put it down with a thump. "Good Lord, Tommy, I'm not baking for the whole town."

"You're baking for your first grandchild, and Henrie will throw an absolute strop if you don't make the thing with the—" Tommy made the criss-cross shape of the fairy buns that her three youngest had loved when they were children. "Besides, the midwife says it's to be sometime in the next week, so we'd best get to it," added Tommy, clapping his lightly-floured hands together. "Come along, you layabouts!"

"Enough of your sass," said Caleb from the other table, where he'd been working out the evening's loaves for the past hour. "What's this man who's asking for your mother?"

"No need to be jealous, my love," Rachel said, enjoying the huff of her husband's shoulders as he kept his grin facing the sourdough.

"I assumed it was one of the ribbon-sellers pressing for settlment of a bill, Missus Smythe," Caleb shot back, but when she leaned over to swat him, he gathered her into his arms, pressing a kiss to her cheek.

"Ugh, get a room," Tommy moaned just as the bell above the shop door jangled.

"We have one," Caleb reminded him, and Rachel kept herself from giggling like a lass fifty years younger as Tommy stomped out into the front of the shop, his voice muffled by the curtain at the door as he spoke to whoever had come in.

"Hold on, I want to know what handsome man is asking about me at the market," Rachel protested, making a show of struggling against Caleb's hold. "Perhaps it's my Prince Charming."

"He's a bit late for his rendez-vous, you'll have to admit," Caleb said, giving her another kiss.

Rachel was about to murmur about how Caleb was as charming as any man she'd ever wanted — ever dreamed of, even though he'd been late too — and had rescued her better than any prince to boot. But she was thwarted by her youngest son, this time, making an unexpected appearance from the front of the shop and looking quite smart in his new frock coat.

"Tommy said you two were canoodling back here," Rich said accusingly, his hand darting out to grab a muffin before his mother could stop him. "Awful. Mr. Rhodes says one should always maintain a professional atmosphere at one's place of business."

"Mr. Rhodes is your master, Apprentice Smythe, not ours," Rachel reminded him as she broke free of Caleb's hold to snatch the half-muffin Rich hadn't already eaten out of his hand. "Speaking of which, what might you be doing here and not—"

"He sent me on an errand to get more ink at the market," Rich protested, holding up a bottle as evidence. "And while I was there, I overheard a man asking for a Mrs. Smythe, so I thought I'd tell you."

"This fellow is going to find Henrie next, bed-bound though she is, before he finds you," Caleb muttered; she didn't have to look back to hear the smile in his face.

"Hush," Rachel scolded, and held the muffin out of reach when her son made a grab for it. "And what else did this man say?"

Rich harumphed. "He said he knew you from a long time ago, back when you were Mrs. Teach—"

"Mrs. Teach?" Rachel said, her blood going hot and cold all at once. She reached out blindly behind her; Caleb caught her hand and let her squeeze. It probably hurt, but he said nothing as he held on.

Rich, with all the tact he'd ever had, seized his opportunity and the muffin. "Yeah," he said, a bit muffled as he stuffed it into his face. "Wanted to know if you were still alive, where you were, if you were well, that sort of thing."

"What — what did he look like?" Rachel could scarcely breathe for fear, or hope. Or both.

"See for yourself," Rich shrugged, turning to call behind him. "Sir? Mister — I'm sorry, I never did catch your name—"

"Edward," said Rachel's eldest son, stepping through the curtain as Rachel felt her knees turn to water. "My name's Edward."

#I love the idea of both Ed *and* Stede being so susceptible to suggestion—like they're both trying SO HARD #to believe in themselves #but they're both so bad at it #and I do think that if things had gone a little bit differently it would be Ed now having to go chase down Stede #who is feeling some WAYS about Ed abandoning him #even though Ed did it for what he thought were the right reasons #I also really love the idea that instead of the Kraken #we get the Gentleman Pirate as his own kind of monster #like—what does Stede look like with the brakes off #I bet you he's fucking scary as shit #pirate geezers in love #ofmd fic #ficcage of interest #I really do need to finish ONE of these

I saw the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie today and I really enjoyed it. It was a really fun watch, you could tell that everybody in the theater was super hyped for it and it made me feel nostalgic for when I was in high school and everyone was super hyped over the first game. I didn’t dress up as any of the characters but I saw a few people that had dressed up for it, and when the lights went off in the theater so the movie could start somebody went “har har har har har” and everybody started laughing lol… I get why the movie’s getting bad reviews from critics, it’s definitely not a perfect movie, but I still had fun watching it.

i think spamton’s canon voice (like the one that’s in the voice clips in his themes) was really funny i don’t think people appreciated it enough he just sounds like a little cartoon guy which he is. He sounds like if a nickelodeon cartoon experienced 1000 eternal torments forever

my favorite unreliable narrator gag to do that i've set up for myself is for lan to be like "here is what's happening" and it's not that he's wrong generally except in that he's just barely at all talking about anything that IS happening so much as he's like. wow that's crazy that reminds me of 27 different things. and so you have simultaneously so much information and also no idea what's going on.

and then you switch to ehir pov where he very calmly and methodically describes exactly what he's doing and thinking and why without haring off or anything and you're like "oh thank god i finally know what's going on". with an occasional sprinkling of "this is. a completely different thing than what lan is saying and/or interacting with" to clue you into the fact that ehir also doesn't know or care what's happening, either, actually. he's just sitting there. his narration is so tidy and streamlined because he is NOT playing 4d chess. or even. the game. that he is supposed to be playing. just. regularly. like huh? a board? what board. oh that plank? yeah he dropped it like a month ago. it was heavy. oh was that important? well. whatever. nothing to be done about it now. probably. and lan IS playing 4d chess but with like. the shadow of a chicken he's imagining in the depths of his own shadow. which somehow causes him to sweep every other opponent. which is his strategy on purpose but like, what. how. why.

so really at no point do you actually get a reasonable perspective of events it's always "you called me a bitch but that's another word for dog and dogs bark and bark is on trees and trees fucking rule so really you're saying i'm Very Cool and pretty and" or "saw a leaf. felt an emotion" and what's happening is like the town is trying to keep another town from logging down the forest. or something. and you sort of just have to put the extremely disparate pieces together on that one, which would be much easier if ehir weren't SO extremely good at tricking people into thinking he's normal and competent, you can trust him. you can trust him just step into his enclosure welcome to his twisted mind there is. elevator music. and depression

like. again lan is like "this is what's happening in a 30 mile radius around me and hey that reminds me of" and you get No relevant information and ehir is like "i am doing this" and. you. still get no relevant information. really. but you feel like you did. or should have. if only because especially in contrast to lan he's so straightforward about it.

the story is a whisper of itself winding between the voices of two entirely incomprehensible insane people i just think that that was very funny of me
