The seventy-first free, unedited chapter of my upcoming book, “The Heist at Cordia Aquarium” is now available on its website (or click here to read from the beginning).
Avery stares up at the hero. A licensee in action, costume and all: kicking down doors, saying one-liners. All to save her from... no one anymore. From anyone to begin with, if Thea is telling the truth.
In what should be a moment of relief comes an onslaught of questions. Worried questions. Spawned by her habit of blurring past one catastrophe in search of the next. Am I going to have to pay a bill or something? How much does a rescue even cost? Shit, this is my first year paying taxes. Are rescues tax-deductible?
Avery doesn't ask any of those, opting to keep them prisoner within her oxygen starved mind. She sucks in an unsteady breath. "Why did it take you so long to get here? Is the ambulance close?"
Scrypher moves her head, but barely: a centimeter up and to the right. She probably has a clock in here. "No. It's only been five minutes since you made the call and we were on-site within three; that's more than acceptable." Scrypher says, reaching a hand into the breast of her trench coat. "Medics will arrive momentarily. Before they do, could you tell me who's hiding behind that desk with you?"
[...]
Since she’s making another appearance, here’s Scrypher’s concept sheet.

Queer Archangel detective shenanigans in Victorian London
OUT TODAY!
Puddles in the Pavement is a gaslamp mystery set in the same world as my main series, based on this question: What if Holmes & Watson were queer and archangels and bastards?
It's available to read on Kobo Plus.
***
What horrors lurk in the puddles in the pavement?
Archangels Uriel and Bel investigate when a distraught lady’s fiancé falls into a puddle and doesn’t come out. But he’s not the only one to be dragged into mysterious depths.
Foul games are afoot in Victorian London, where a well-demon is turned loose from his underground prison with one mission: to collect victims for the torturous games of an idle, immortal duke.
When a single victim from each hunt is returned to their home, word spreads of a deadly wolf, who speaks with the voice of God, striking a new fear into the heart of London.
Why was Lady Emilia’s fiancé taken when he has nothing in common with the other puddle-snatched men? How can Uriel and Bel get him back? And where is that awful singing coming from?
This book features a duke with terrible table manners, a Home Secretary with a questionable appendage, and an exceptionally perky butler.

Happy Queer Media Monday!
Today: The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu
Let’s finish Pride Month with a crowd pleaser, shall we
(All four copies of the official English release, along with my faithful Pride bat plushie.)
The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System, originally a webnovel, is the first work of bestselling Chinese author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, better known on the Internet as ‘MXTX’. It is part of the danmei (gay love stories written mostly by and for straight women) and wuxia (very strongly simplified, the Chinese equivalent of Western high fantasy) genres, and kind of parodizes both.
The story is about a young nerd, who just finished reading a male powerfantasy harem story for the monsters, and is very upset about the sloppy worldbuilding. Upon choking to death on a dumpling, he gets sucked into the story, and is forced to take the role of the main villain, Shen Qingqiu. A mysterious “system” in his mind prevents him from straying too far from the original plot, and gives him challenge after challenge, forcing him to manipulate the story he is now part of. When Shen Qingqiu starts showing kindness to the young protagonist instead of abusing him, the boy immediately falls in love with him, causing the story to mutate in unexpected ways.
MXTX’s work gained a huge following after her second book, Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation got adapted to a very successful drama. People appreciate her writing because it is genuinely very clever, and she understands well the genres she’s working with. As with all danmei, The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System is a bit visibly catered towards a straight female audience, but it is also a very fun and entertaining parody that has a lot to say about both society and the fantasy genre.
The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System has been, among other languages, completely translated to English and published in four parts. It is also partly adapted to animation.
Queer Media Monday is an action I started to talk about some important and/or interesting parts of our queer heritage, that people, especially young people who are only just beginning to discover the wealth of stories out there, should be aware of. Please feel free to join in on the fun and make your own posts about things you personally find important!

THE HOLLYWOOD GAY MAFIA NEVER SLEEPS.
Congratulations to:
second generation Hollywood insider
a proud member of the Jewish community
and VAULTED member of the Hollywood Gay Mafia, Robert Downey Jr. I'm old enough to remember when he publicly admitted it when he was younger, then pretended later that he didn't.
He survived the test, and got handed the keys to the Kingdom; $300 million dollars richer, even helping smooth the path for Irish thug, Cillian Murphy. I'll never want to see Ironman again, after watching this group of snakes operate. Silicon Valley and the NFL want him back. Can anyone guess as to why?

I was at the library today and when I walked into the general section they had this digital poster thing that said like 'Interested in LGBT books? Simply search 'queer' in our online catalogue or ask your librarians for tips' and when I went to the teen section upstairs there was a poster promoting a queer youth centre and then I went to a comic book store and in the flyer display they had a leaflet from a local queer non-profit that was like 'are you a nerd that's also queer/an ally? come and hang out at our bi-monthly meetups and join our discord server!' and my first reaction was 'Where was this when I was 14?' but then I immediately was like 'no! I'm so happy that it's here now!!' because there are 14 year olds now who are like me and they'll see the posters and flyers and know that others like them exists and that will prove to them that they exist and that makes me so happy for them!!!

saw your tags I LOVE LESS and no one ever seems to talk about it!!! you are right it is so JOYOUS and kind <3
I read it earlier this year and it’s so good! I was so pleasantly surprised! I thought I was about to read a boring navelgazy novel about a mediocre white man with a midlife crisis and LOOK MAYBE IT IS A NAVELGAZY NOVEL ABOUT A MEDIOCRE WHITE MAN WITH A MIDLIFE CRISIS……but the fact it’s told through the eyes of the man who loves him just turns it into the sweetest love letter. And it’s so loving, so joyful, so full of delight, it just made me so so happy. And it’s not boring at all!
also I have to add I did love the prose as well, I loved how the author played with language and motifs, so the reading experience as a whole was just good.
also, I posted a review on my Instagram account and:
Not sure how the follow up will measure up but I sure am willing to find out!!

I don't know if this makes sense after nine hours of classes but it made sense in and seemed funny to my brain,so,here we go:
I was re-reading I kissed Shara Wheeler (because that book has a piece of my heart-really?what's new,Maria?loving a book?loving a CMQ book?I know,I know) on a bench in campus today, during my two-hour break;tens of people passed by and not one, dear readers of this weird post (I think, because I wasn't really looking directly inside their eyes,or something, lmao),recognised the book,or seemed to have paid any attention to A BOOK whatsoever, which is GREAT for me because I hate people looking at me,it makes me hella anxious,but...
I just kind of...wanted to indoctrinate them in the CMQ book universe,to introduce them to the world of books and its numerous possibilities and places to visit and colours to see for the first time and odours to smell. in a parallel universe,I would be able to. lmao.
so,that's today's story.
(please,do not take any of this seriously,it's supposed to be a joke-I would never force people to do and like things they don't want to.)
