Through the pyramid of magic, gold eyes seething with blistering hatred at the jailers.

"This mage is a threat to everyone!" A man with a pure white mask whispered to his fellow worker.

The shorter man spoke in a hushed tone. "The pyramid is glowing stronger then ever! The magic is nothing I've ever seen!"

The young lady in the pyramid of anti magic usage could hear everything little thing they say, wherever there is light she can hear and see what people say or do.

The righteous rage they feel is on level they've only felt once before.

Days after days, weeks after weeks.. months after months.. finally it’s been 8 years.

‘I’ve waiting this hell until I could feel them, my guild mates, after seven long years, i was kept here from a failed mission I was found by the magic council.’ The fairy tail mage thought, a small viscous grin growing on their face.

The scientists in white masks all turned to the sound of sizzling and dripping, only to see that the magic chains were being melted by a heat as hot as the sun itself.

“I’ve waited 8 long years.”

The feminine voice was filled with Fury of thousand suns.

The chains dragged upon the white tiled floor as the pyramid of anti magic exploded with enormous amounts of energy.

Zazriel’s eyes, blown wide as gold Irises scanned across the toppled people.

Tanned bare feet smoothly walked across the cold ground.

“You will never come for me or my guild mates again.”

She crouched down and harshly grabbed the main scientist masked in their hand , mask getting burned in the process. “I will show you why I’m a god slayer if you decide to act upon that foolishness.”

As she let go of his mask they walked out of the building, leaving melting footprints in the ground until they reached outside.

I may not look it but i used to watch ft!!

I've been rewatching some of the episodes and im still wishy washy on whether or not I want to redesign all the characters but here's some recent and old character sketches!! I've been playing around with their designs but trying not to deviate too far so that the characters still look like who they're supposed to be

Idk if anyone would wanna see me redesign/rework every character but I'd post em if there were people who wanted to see that.

Here's the rundown for those who are interested:

My basic ideas for fairy tail are to make every character a fantasy trope/creature/class/myth. Some of the characters will change into a different thing over time as they gain experience. I feel like fairy tail has a lot of potential to write a more modern fairy tale type story because of the whole wizards and magic thing. With dragons and princesses n everything. This is obviously present in the story, but i really want to reinforce that idea. there are some characters who I think really fit this, like Erza (obvi main knight of the story but also has the title of titania queen of the fairies) and natsu (obviously dragon as an mc, sort of a role reversal of the evil dragon. and maybe a fun demonic plot twist haha). But with other characters i may need to make more changes. Lucy is a loose version of the princess (with a fun runaway backstory), but I want her to evolve into a priestess. Grey kinda has nothing going on for him imo, the ice wizard thing keeps throwing me off every time i try to project something onto him. I think i'll go with a hunter -> demon slayer thing. He just happens to use ice magic. i don't wanna go with regular wizard because thats a bit boring lmao. It would also make the elemental thing between natsu and grey funnier bcuz he's a spooky demon and that guys a hunter so you guys REALLY shouldnt get along. They do anyway because the power of friendship lol Anyways that's the basic plan? even if i dont post it on tumblr just know its cooking in the back of my head. thx for reading all this haha

Headcanons on what the Spriggan 12 smell like (something absolutely no one asked for):

Irene smells like old books. That smell when you enter a library? Opening a book you haven’t touched for a long time? For some reason she smells like it. It gives some people an unexplained feeling that they’re about to get a paper cut.

Invel just smells cold. It’s like how ice cream doesn’t smell like much. It’s really unnerving.

Wall obviously smells like metal, but he also smells like oil and smoke. Standing next to him is like standing outside in the heat at a gas station. He’s already hard to be around because he’s so boisterous, but it makes him even more likely to be avoided. I don’t think he’s ever cleaned himself. A bath wouldn’t do much for him, so he just kind of reeks.

Jacob smells like unscented things because that’s all he uses. Unscented deodorant, body wash, shampoo, laundry detergent… it makes him smell pretty clean, but it’s hardly noticeable.

Ajeel smells like a really shitty beach day, like the bottoms of your feet getting burnt on the sand. Warm, but not pleasant.

Bloodman smells like rotting, but the smell isn’t really coming from him, it’s more the scent of his curses. When he’s in a corporeal form, he smells like wet fertilized earth, like dirt after a heavy rainstorm, but as soon as his body releases bane particles, he smells like death itself.

You know that weird lotion-y smell that a lot of old people have? That’s what August smells like. It’s kind of sticky, but not in a particularly unpleasant way. He also gives me the vibes that he uses one of those generic name brand man scents of cologne or deodorant.

Brandish smells like tea and spices. She doesn’t drink tea very often, she’s more of a fan of sweets, but for some reason the smell sticks to her.

Larcade smells like the outdoors, like that fresh cut grass smell that everyone enjoys, or dry leaves.

Neinhart is probably the only person here to actually care about how they smell. He uses lavender perfume, and it makes them smell really nice. Her efforts aren’t really appreciated, though. If only the other Spriggan actually cared about that kind of thing.

Serena smells ridiculously sweet, like a candy store. Think those big oversized rainbow lollipops. He will not explain how he made this happen.

Because of the god inside of her, Dimaria smells really strange and otherworldly. People have compared it to freshly poured concrete or tumbled rocks, but there’s something weirdly off about it. She just kind of smells wrong.

I haven't been writing much, but I still love to create so I've been working on Fairy Tail crafts instead. I've always loved the dragon slayers and when I saw this art from @celestialrayna a few years ago, I knew I wanted it on my wall.

Dragon Slayers are Becoming Boring

Honestly this probably isn’t even a hot-take at this point if you consider the argument. The Dragon Slayers are becoming the same repeats and we get nothing interesting.

THIS WILL HOLD SPOILERS FOR 100 YEAR QUEST

Out of all the slaying types in Fairy Tail, the most we know about is Dragon Slaying. This is no surprise. After all, one of the central characters to the story is a dragon slayer and a few members of Fairy Tail also match him in this regard. It is no surprise that Dragon Slaying magic is a heavy part of the series, which it showcases through most of its arcs.  We have enemies that are Dragon Slayers as well and even ranges from different generations all the way from first generation to fifth generation (as of 100 year quest). They range in strength, durability, and background but they all just blend together at some point. I don’t really even count as the “fourth generation” as a generation as I’m pretty sure they were just robot like things in the Dragon Cry movie and not actual people. At least the fifth generation does something different, giving them their power based off the dragons that they have consumed. There could be more out there, but I’m tired of exploring Dragon Slayer magic. You know what also is a part of the gang that gets no screen time and we know pretty much nothing about? Devil Slayer Magic. The potential for this could be wild, but we really get nothing outside of what Gray learned from Silver. I don’t even think Bloodman explained much. Out of the three slayers we know that have/had Devil Slaying magic, all three of them have an ice form of it. Surely there are more versions of this magic. I feel like Devil Slaying was just a cop out of some sorts to get the audience excited and to give Gray a well deserved power boost, but we got nothing out of it. The other magic we know nothing of is God Slaying magic. Despite the different characters we know have it, we know nothing of it. We don’t know anything about the few gods. Its a shame due to Natsu literally fighting one and I though Dimaria was cool with her power up. But we really know nothing about how they obtain their power. I mean, Cherria is Sherry’s cousin and still we know nothing about how her whole god slaying magic works.  It is very unfortunate because there are plenty of paths for these villains to take in order to bring out more world building in the magic system, but we will probably never know about it. Fairy Tail was and will always will be centered around these dragons. While there are more for them to come up with for these dragons, it would be nice to take a break. Anyways, what are your thoughts? I’m interested to see what you all think about the slaying magics and where we could go from here. Though I think there are endless miles of potential for it at this point.

anon you have no idea how much i love you for asking this, ive been waiting for an excuse to do this, i am a SLUT for anyone and anything being overprotective of Gray

i don’t believe in canon or timelines so use ur imagination

i like to think of Gray as person practically everybody ends up really liking, and a total cat magnet.

And dragon slayers r just big cats. So Gray already had close friendships with them

so when they realized ‘holy shit hes like us now’ their protective instincts went in overdrive

Natsu, Wendy, & Sting didnt even try to hide it; constantly trying to make sure hes comfortable and felt safe and didnt sit alone confused and scared by all these new things he has to deal with

Natsu definitely drags him onto impromptu jobs and fishing trips with Happy, in an effort to get away from people, or just so they can spend time together, the reason is unclear

i think dragon slayers as a whole are like violently touch starved, and thats what Sting focused on mostly.

he would drape himself over Gray when he felt like the other needed or wanted it but wouldnt ask

it helped Gray get more comfortable for sure

Wendy, as a healer and friend, tried to give him every piece of advice she knew, offering remedy after remedy to help ease him into his now heightened senses

Gray tried to explain to them once that his abilities are fairly different from theirs, yes he has heightened senses, but his instincts and needs were a hell of a lot different than theirs; that only spurred them on more, making them try to research everywhere they could about demon slayers

Rogue & Gajeel were more subtle with it (not by much tho), they understood when needed it quiet, when he just wanted company without the talk

If Gray was having a hard time, whether or not it was bc of his slayer magic, Rogue would offer up Frosch and sit with him, offering silence or white noise. whatever he needed

Gajeel probably thought he was subtle but he absolutely was not, like asking Gray if he wants to run errands with him when places theyre at get too sensorially intense

he tried to ask Levy about everything she knew abt demon slayers without being too obvious, when she kept sending him knowing glances he just asked (very resigned) for some books on the matter.

there was surprisingly little

But he made do and probably studied every piece of literature there was on the matter

The others probably found out and teased him even tho they did the same thing (they also probs asked him to drop a list of books for them)

Now, Laxus really was subtle

telling Gray to go home when he was visibly pushing himself

talking about his new sound canceling headphones and then conveniently leaving them near Gray

or little compliments abt how his new magic is coming along, quiet support type shit

also staring someone down to get them to shut up if they’re being too much

i feel like they turned from ‘one of our own’ protective to overprotective when they realized ppl werent as accepting of demon slayers as they were with dragon slayers

Most ppl exposure to slayer magic is limited to dragon slayers, who refer to themselves as dragons. so when a demon slayer pops up, the correlation isn’t pretty, and their actions are even worse

While Gray understands people must just scared or confused, so he doesnt blame them; he has a hoard of extremely protective dragons who think differently

Wendy had to be physically restrained by multiple people after she heard people calling Gray a monster

Natsu genuinely considered burning alive someone who refused to pay Gray after he finished up a job

Gray definitely now had scary dog privileges, the dog being every single dragon slayer he knows

Laxus zapping people who so much as look at Gray wrong, or frying whatever electronic (ik its lacrimas but work with me) device they have.

Them all hyping up (in their own ways) Grays physical demon features when they start showing up

Post joint guild party at Sabertooth: some guy talking shit abt how Fairy Tail could allow a demon into their ranks, how he is gonna hurt someone. They are now guildless and only eating through a straw and a face not even a mother could love

Someone at an event giving Gray a backhanded compliment and immediately getting death stares mixed with a violent increase of magic in the air that would make the gods shudder

Remember when i said Grays a cat magnet? its not just the dragon slayers who adore him, its their exceeds too

if u asked them to list their favorite people, Gray is in the top 5 for all of them

im stealing another hc from someone and saying Gray fosters cats, and Happy may or may not of gotten jealous once or twice over the pets and scratches that were supposed to be his

Fucken hell it’s 4 am and I haven’t slept-(well I actually slept all day 🫣) and my hyper fixation on fairy tail, Greek mythology and angels(Christianity, despite my dislike for the history and some people who are from this region, but that’s on trauma ✨)

Flashbacks/history

Here is part 1💫

As I stumbled out of the alyssum they kept me in for these 8 years after,

‘I was found in a destroyed city, I was sent on a decade long mission. The city was destroyed by a monster, a god, they people prayed and worshiped for centuries, decided he was bored and thought his devotees were a plaything.

When the council found me I was exhausted and the deity was destroyed to ashes as so was his followers.

They assumed I went rouge and slaughtered the innocent.

That is how I was sent to that alyssum, but I did make some acquaintances .. Jellal, Cobra, Midnight, Ultear. They were all people I could use my telepathy magic on within the prison.’

I looked up the rising sun, I outstretched my white feathered wings, soaking in the sunshine. I sighed softly as I ascend into the sky.

I notice I’m still in fiore. Which is good.

I take a deep breath as I send out a light gold aura of magic out to synchronize myself with the area.

There!

My guild!

I grin in victory as I set off at a high velocity to where I sense my friends!

As I come in closer I notice the guild has changed….for the worse..

I slowly descend as I hover only a foot off the ground as I stare in disbelief of what happened to my home.

I drop myself to the ground on my feet as Ī cautiously walk towards the doors, it’s early morning so no one really should be here.

I guess I was wrong as I hear noise from inside.

‘My hands are shaking.

I’m shaking.

I’m scared.

Why am I scared?

I have nothing to fear?

They are my family.

My family I haven’t seen in 8 years.

I sucked in the crisp morning air as I opened the door.’

‘I was not expecting for everyone to stop.’

And stare.

I mean I do look different, I’m wearing convict clothing, my hair is longer, messy, greasy and knotted.

I look outright exhausted.

Wendy was the first to speak up.

“Zazriel… it’s you.. you’re alive..” I was expecting her to cry so I wasn’t surprised by that but I was taken off guard by her hugging me.

“Oof!?” I yelp as I fall to the ground with her on top of me hugging the dear life out of me.

And that was cue for everyone to either cry or bombard me with questions.

I grunt as I move Wendy into my arms as I sit up, I always saw her my little sister.

Makarov approached me.

“What happened.. Zazriel, Macao said after we disappeared and a year later he gets a leader that you have been convicted as a criminal and traitor.”

I look at my guild.

‘Ok I can do it.’

“I was supposed to kill a deity that took longer then expected..and he destroyed everything. Slaughtered all of the civilians even when I moved to safe places. The council thought I did it. Even though they knew I was a god slayer.”

I spoke with venom In my voice.

Gramps nodded.

“How did you get out?”

Ī immediately looked away and started to sweat.

“I broke out..” I let out a nervous laugh.

He let out a tired sigh.

“This.. is something.. I will have a talk with other people I know that can help out with this, for now get changed and knowing my guild we will celebrate your Return!”

He laughs.

Wendy moved off of me,

“Zazriel!” My ears perked up at the sound of Mira’s voice, oh how much I missed her.

Ī immediately sped over to her.

She handed me some of my old clothes.

I smiled at her as I walked into the bathroom of the guild and changed into something comfy.

I love every single one of these characters I truly do. But sometimes in the series you watch those moments in all you can say is wow they are very stupid or they’re having a very stupid moment. I’m not bashing the character. I absolutely love them actually, I’ve watched every series I named I’ve only named characters that I thought were dumb and I looked up some because I haven’t watched many but every series that you see I’ve actually watched. 

Turns out there’s a limit on how many gifs you can put on here I guess. I don’t know. I guess it’s just because these things are huge. I don’t know how to adjust them. But I thought these gifts were pretty funny or cute. Have fun.  there’s actually three I think are cute try and guess but you can’t.
