yo college boyfriend farlan is so smart but no one ever knows it because he doesn’t brag, you only realize when you’re taking an online quiz next to him in the lounge and he’s providing every answer without even tearing his eyes away from his phone too much. after you give him a narrow-eyed accusatory look, he grins without meeting your eyes.

When Levi was still a teenager and lived in the underground, he needed to be constantly on his guard, on the lookout for the slightest danger. He could only think about his own survival. He couldn’t indulge in a moment of peace, to take time to discover rare little corners of unexplored greenery that didn’t belong to anyone’s territory.
After the arrival of his two faithful companions, he felt responsible for their safety and was more vigilant in the face of this merciless city. Isabel and Furlan also had to be constantly on their guard to avoid being caught or killed. As the months went by, the morale of the three of them began to grow increasingly low. The lack of sunshine, the constant vigilance required to survive, and the dangers lurking around every corner was demoralizing them more and more. Especially Isabel, with her festive and explosive nature, lamented having to hide constantly in old, abandoned houses, where the only animals present were aggressive rats greedy for any piece of food that has fallen on the floor.
Levi, seeing the morale of his two friends at its lowest, decided to show them a corner little known to the other residents of the underground district. He told his friends that he had a place to show them and to follow him. The whole way, Isabel could barely contain her excitement at the surprise of his “big brother”. Once they had arrived at the long-awaited and hoper-for spot, Isabel and Furlan couldn’t hold back a gasp of amazement. The spot had a large round opening in the ceiling, which let in rays of light to illuminate the area. A few adventurous birds pecked at the ground from time to time before flying back to the sky when they wanted, a freedom that the three companions hoped for from the bottom of their hearts.
Occasionally, Levi, Furlan, and Isabel, would come here for a well-deserved break. Isabel enjoyed taming the birds and lightly stroking their fur. One of the three was always on the lookout, keeping an eye on the surrounding area to avoid any surprise attack from the enemy.
That day, it was Levi’s turn to keep an eye out for potential intruders in their makeshift haven. Looking behind some rocks, he saw a small bed of flowers, with an orange butterfly resting on them. He discreetly swept his gaze around to see if anyone was around and knelt, holding out his hand towards the butterfly. He had never seen one in his life, and its orange color reminded him the color of the sky he sometimes saw through the hole before nightfall. Luckily, the butterfly landed on his finger, and he watched it with curiosity and wonder. He gently brought it towards his two friends to show them the fruit of his discovery. When they saw the butterfly, they approached with curiosity and a little mistrust of this foreign insect. Furlan seemed rather indifferent, saying that they shouldn't be distracted by the slightest new thing, but Levi could see in his eyes that he was intrigued and amused by the butterfly. Meanwhile, Isabel was completely absorbed and amazed by the sight of the butterfly, not the slightest bit concerned by Furlan's comments.
As he looked at his two friends, Levi felt a pang of pride in his heart; he had managed to distract his comrades, even for a few moments, from the reality they were enduring in this dirty, unsanitary hole. He told himself that he would do anything to protect them and get them out of that place so that they could have a life filled with little moments of happiness like this one. The butterfly flew away and they watched it fly up into the sky.
~~~~~~
Several years passed, and he was now a member of the Survey Cops, without his two beloved companions, who had perished on their first trip outside the walls. He had hardened himself, both mentally and physically, to guarantee its own survival and the survival of others. He was known for being cold and direct in the way he spoke. He didn't let people penetrate beyond the mental shell he had created for himself. He had this deep-seated fear that he wouldn't be able to protect the people he cared about and that the same tragedy that had happened years ago would happen again if he got too close to someone.
But there was one person he had a soft spot for. He felt as if all his emotions and feelings were mixed into one indistinguishable ball when he thought of you. Wanting to ignore his feelings for you, in fear of realizing how much his affection for you had grown, he tried to maintain a certain professional distance. But despite his best efforts not to get too close, his heart made him do the opposite, and he often found himself offering you a horse ride when you both had free time. It had become the long awaited rendezvous of the week for both of you, although neither of you would admit it.
On a summer's evening, you headed for the same spot as always. A small hill dotted with wild flowers and a tree that provided some much-needed shade from the heat. Once off your horses, you settled down under the tree and a comfortable silence settled in. Only the sound of leaves moving and birds singing in the distance could be heard. The slightly warm wind caressed your cheeks, and you took a deep breath to inhale the summer breeze as you closed your eyes.
After a while, you began to pluck small daisies from around you to make a little bouquet. You stretched to reach more daisies before pausing. A butterfly had just landed on the flowers. Levi looked at you, puzzled to see you frozen, then his gaze moved to where you were looking. His eyes widened slightly at the sight of an orange butterfly. He couldn't help thinking that it was some kind of twist of destiny, even though he knew it wasn't the same butterfly he'd seen before. He looked at you again, his eyes softening at the sight of your sparkling eyes. The faces of his two comrades came back into his mind. A mixture of melancholy and determination filled him. He would protect you, whatever the risks. It would be too painful to lose you. Even if he swore he wouldn't get attached to anyone else, you're too precious for him to let anything happen to you. Even if he must keep his distance, never admitting his new feelings for you, that's okay. He's prepared to endure that if it means you can be happy and safe.
The butterfly flew away. You turned around, approached him, and slipped the small bunch of daisies into the front pocket of his coat and grinned at him. "The butterfly was beautiful, wasn't it? No answer, he froze because of the proximity of your face. "Well, I think it's time to go back, don't you?" you say, getting up and heading towards your horse. "huh huh" he replied, a slight blush on his cheeks and ears. Maybe he won't need to protect you by staying as far away from you as he thought.
Hi babe! Congrats for one year of Silver Underground! 🎶
I was wondering if you could write a little Drabble or one shot of James and Levi in the early days of their relationship. Maybe it’s still a secret from Isabelle and Farlan, and they almost get caught…you know…😏
Love you, Bestie!!😘
hello, my dearest Sailor! Your wish is my command. xo
Tumblr media
down bad. / levi ackerman x f!reader
word count: 1.3k summary: you and levi secretly make out before furlan/isabel get home. that's it, that's the horny plot. tags: 18+ minors dni! pre-aot timeline, heavy petting, making out, dry humping, mentions of sex, secret relationship, interruptions, set in the silver underground universe credit: @saradika-graphics for dividers
Tumblr media
“Huh.”
You hear Levi’s voice echo from the living room as you climb the stairs to your apartment.
The anticipation of a shower after making deals with some of the cretins of the Underground has kept your tired feet propelling forward, onward, until they come to a stop at the mouth of the door.
One after the other, you kick your boots off beside Levi’s discarded pair to pad gently across the wooden floorboards in dark socks.
He reappears from his bedroom with a furrowed expression, brow holding his apprehension.
“They’re not home.”
He points a thumb behind his shoulder.
The silence corroborates his findings.
By now, Isabel would have launched herself from your shared bedroom proclaiming sorrow without the two of you around. Furlan barely ever left the living room, and there are only so many places he could go in such a cramped space.
As you drag the apartment’s front door closed and locked, you wipe your hands off on your trousers.
“Where could they be?” you inquire. “I thought they were supposed to meet with that one asshole tomorrow.”
“They are. Maybe they went shopping for food,” he suggests, rolling up his white sleeves to the point of his elbow on the right arm. “Furlan owes you anyway.”
“It was one stolen leftover, Levi.”
“Still owes you,” he chides, fixing up his left arm’s sleeves after. “Doesn’t matter.”
Rolling your eyes, you cross your arms over your chest and stand in the silence.
No one talks.
Someone should, but —
You’re still not used to this — balancing what the hell it means to be James, the friend, and the James that kisses Levi in the shadows.
It’s only been a few times.
A lie — under fifty isn’t a few.
Maybe a hundred, if stolen pecks in passing when you both know the risks qualifies.
At this point, you’ve lost count how many times the two of you have made out. And losing count means that the two of you are prone for mistakes.
(A lack of judgment, if you will.)
Because as soon as it hits — no one’s home — eyes of twin curiosity connect across the room.
At the same moment, at the exact same time, an idea passes telepathically. An argument.
We shouldn’t.
We never tried in the house.
We always—
Too late.
He propels towards you with the urgency of losing you and your feet slide against the floorboards with urgency.
Your head tilts and he follows suits, and without an ounce of real thought, his lips claim yours.
Levi’s hands are already trying to open up your shirt, unbuttoning with certainty a starving man wouldn’t have.
You aren’t as controlled — your hands fumble with his vest, angry at the little notches for giving you a problem. “Don’t worry about me,” he mumbles against your mouth, his tongue experimentally poking out to flicker against your lower lip.
“But—”
He abandons your lips and kisses the tiny gemstone on your sternum to make you gasp; a sign of worship, leaving an offering to an altar he created.
Obediently your head drops back, too focused on the heat traveling up your collarbone to your neck.
His lips are always so careful, as if somehow if he presses too hard he’ll bruise you.
It doesn’t matter how many times your hands grip at your hips.
It doesn’t matter how many times he backs you into a wall—
Or in this case, a table.
Your hips hit the kitchenette table, faltering your stance. His strong hands find purchase on the plush of your thighs.
“Fall back.”
You pull away from the kiss to finally survey those blue-gray eyes, stormy and benevolent all the same.
Both of your chests heave, though yours is half-revealed and there’s a pink hue of a blush crawling across his cheeks to his ears.
“Wait, what?” you ask him in a huff.
He nods once, lifting your legs only a little for emphasis. “You’re not gonna break it, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
“I’m— there are about a dozen other things I’m worried about,” you shout in a whisper. “I don't give a fuck about the integrity of the table."
"Good," he decides, and leans back in for a kiss.
Your hand blocks his lips from finding yours.
"I wasn't done talking," you say. "The other dozen things, Levi, like when are they going to get—”
“I don’t care,” he rasps, too far gone. “We’ll hear the lock.”
“Will we?”
“Yeah.”
“And if we don’t—”
“I’m covering you.”
“Barely.”
“Enough.”
“But the table—”
"So you do care about the table?"
"Well, no, but if it—"
“Fuck the table, James,” he groans, so unlike him that the arousal shoots to your core.
Timid in the moment, you scoot your rear end to the table’s edge and fall back. His arm catches your back to ease you down, but not without kissing down your throat again to pull a short cry from your lips.
His other hand pulls your thigh with him so he can slot his hips between yours, and you both lose your breath at the heated connection of his hips to yours.
You haven’t gotten that far yet, but you damn well wish you could.
His head lifts from your neck so he can stare at your eyes, stalling for content, as the hand on your thigh lifts it.
There’s nothing hotter than your knee caging in his hip, and his hand keeping it there. Nothing.
“You’re wasting time,” you growl in return, dragging him in from the white collar of his shirt.
He grunts in appreciation and hovers over you, pleased with himself now that you’re virtually beneath him.
His lips find yours, chin tilting to deepen the action.
Your moan vibrates against his mouth, causing his hand on your thigh to clench the flesh.
You want everything.
In that moment, you realize you’ll do just about anything if it means you get to have him.
Late night trysts, early morning sparring kisses, midday dry humps—
The best kept secret of your entire life.
His hips experimentally roll against yours, and you both moan — probably louder than you ought to. It doesn’t matter, because it spurs him to try it again. Again, again—
And when your hand boldly reaches for his belt, something clicks.
Not in your brain, but at the door.
Trained ears force Levi off of your body, lips and cheeks equal parts reddened.
He whips his attention to the door, fixing his clothes and clearing his breath.
“Calm it with that key, would you?” he calls, voice a little more gruff than before.
He strides across the room, buying you time to fly off of the table and re-button your shirt in your own bedroom.
When you catch your eye, he mouths sorry — but the shit-eating smirk on his face tells you otherwise.
“We’re trying!” Isabel. Shit. You know that whine anywhere.
Levi’s palm slams against the door frame from the other side. “Give me a sec, I’ll open it.”
“Why?” Furlan. He sounds perplexed more than anything. “I almost had the door—”
“You’re gonna break it,” Levi flatly tells him, before finally opening the door.
When you ‘enter’ the room, Furlan and Isabel pour into the apartment with their arms full of bags and nearly-fresh produce. You yawn, padding barefoot.
“Sorry, took a nap,” you lie, stretching your limbs overhead. “Where were you two again?”
“Shopping!”
They chirp in unison, heading straight for the kitchen.
Your eyes meet Levi’s once more while you rearrange the chain of your necklace.
That smirk hasn’t left his face, even in the face of your friends.
All you respond with is a middle finger, rubbing against your nose.
One of these days—
Narrowly missed today, maybe, but one of these days they’re going to find out.
(And maybe one day it won’t be such a secret.)
Tumblr media
He can’t take his eyes off you. To be exact, the sunlight suits your facial features so well that it seems impossible to ever let go of your sight.
You have been friends since he met you on that day exactly 6 years ago, when you tried to steal a load of food for a heavy pregnant woman. Since then, he was captivated by your beauty, your brain, your skills. But somehow, this makes the stinging fact that you sit beside him even worse.
“You shouldn’t be here, (y/n)”, he speaks out before he’s able to stop himself.
Immediately, your gaze drifts away from the dreamy scenery to him, eyes widen in surprise.
“What are you talking about, Levi?”
Don’t say his name while looking at him like that, not with that gentle tone in your angelic voice. He told himself over and over that you are nothing but a close friend, maybe considered family like Isabel and Farlan.
He huffs to himself. What a filthy little lie.
“This mission is dangerous. I don’t want you to get-“
“Hurt? Killed? You told me about all those things more than once and I’m happy to repeat myself again for you: I will not leave you, Farlan’s and Isabel’s side. After all, we are friends, right? And friends don’t leave each other behind.”
You gift him with your usual breath-taking smile while his heart skips a beat.
A friend.
He has to remind himself over and over again, force his orbs away from you. You are nothing but friends. And he will never risk to lose you over the potential of something more.
-the evening before the mission-
“I thought I’d find you here”, your teasing voice shouts from behind.
You are probably the last thing he wants to see this evening. Not because he doesn’t enjoy your company, but because he wasn’t able to convince you to stay in safety. Erwin Smith made it very clear that this mission is dangerous, that multiple survey corps member already died behind those walls. And even though you, Farlan and Isabel showed your skills countless times before, he can’t stop his train of thought. You, getting grabbed by a titan. You, getting ripped apart, your blood scattering onto the ground. He won’t have the chance to stay by your side during all times. One wrong movement, one thoughtless decision and you’d be gone.
“I don’t even have to ask in order to know what you’re thinking about right now, Levi.”
The second your hand brushes over his shoulder, he is too lost in the feeling of your bare hand against his shirt to worry any further.
“You don’t have to worry about Farlan, Isabel and me. After all, you’re the one who taught us everything we know.”
“Tsk. You were already doing fine when I met you.”
“But you were the one who showed me there is still hope, something worth fighting for. If it wasn’t for you, I would have died down there without ever seeing the sun once in my life”, you reply.
All of the sudden you place your hand on top of his and squeeze in gently. That look on your face, is it…Affection? He shakes his head firmly, doesn’t allow himself to get lost in that oh so sweet idea. A woman like you will never fall for a cold-hearted man like him, not when the whole squad fell head over heels for you the second they got to know you better. You are a true sweetheart, everyone’s favorite, a ray of sunshine. He, on the other hand, is none of that.
“Stop praising me or else I’ll puke and make a mess onto the freshly cleaned floor.”
No, he doesn’t deserve your kind word, doesn’t even deserve that spark in your eyes. You are better off without him, even as a friend.
“You’ll gonna clean it up anyway”, you bite back with a wide grin.
“Actually, there is something else I want to talk with you about, Levi.”
The sudden change in your voice paired with the warmth of your hand leaving his lets his gaze wander to yours again – only to catch you already staring.
“What is it?”, he questions instantly.
“If you have to decide between Isabel, Farlan and me…Just promise that you’ll safe them before even thinking about my ass. Please look after them and don’t worry about me.”
His eyes widen just the tiniest bit, reveal his surprise and…his resist. Not thinking about you, leaving you behind? The urge to shake you becomes almost unbearable when he grabs your arms passionately, gaze locking with yours.
“There is no way in hell I will ever leave you behind, dumbass. Don’t you dare to die on me, got it?”
“Promise”, you urge.
“Promise you’ll look out for them first.”
“(y/n)…”
He has to close his eyes in order to stop staring at your perfect lips. This might be the last time he ever sees you alive so unbothered by his side, the last time he witnesses the way the dim moonlight lights up your hair.
This…might be your last night alive.
“Please, I can’t live with the thought of being without them. They are still so young.”
“What about you, though? What if I don’t want to live a life without you? What if I die myself?”
You smile at him sadly, your hand caressing his cheek oh so gently.
“We all know you won’t die out there, Levi. It’s us who might not be here with you tomorrow. After all, that’s why you wanted to stop us from coming with you, right?”
He swallows hard. Every single one of you is a skilled fighter. Hell, you even survived the underground with countless enemies chasing after you. But this? This is something completely different. For the first time since getting to know all of you, Levi isn’t so sure about your abilities anymore.
“I promise”, he replies with low voice.
“Thank you”, you breathe out.
“Now, let’s get some sleep, shall we? We have a big fight ahead of us.”
Oh, there is no doubt in the fact that Levi won’t close his eyes this whole cursed night, pondering about a way to safe all of you. But even though you are very aware of that, you turn on your heel and smile at him one last time.
The brightest smile of them all, making your face gleam in nothing but affection.
“Oh, and Levi?”
“What is it, dumbass?”
“When I was talking about the sun earlier…That sun was you.”
And then you’re gone in the dark, leaving him with his heart almost beating out of his chest and feelings clustered all over the place.
Him, your sun?
-the battle-
Your eyes widen in sheer horror, the violent scream escaping your lips not reaching your ringing ears. Those powerful orbs…There is no doubt in the fact that this is her, that this is Isabel. Tears stream down your face uncontrollably, mix with the bitter coat of rain that sticks to your face uncomfortably.
Your friend is dead. And you were not able to protect her.
“You.”
The monster standing in front of you doesn’t look like the other titans you’ve seen before. Eyes red like crimson, lips curved into an evil grin. This thing is absolutely aware of the agony it causes you and enjoys every tear you cry.
You grab your blades even tighter, narrow eyes fixating its nape.
“I will make you suffer”, you press out through gritted teeth.
“I will make you regret that you even touched her!”
You dash forward only to get greeted by thin air. Fuck, this thing is so fast you didn’t even realize it was gone until your blade crashed into the muddy ground. Why do your hands suddenly start shaking, your knees felling weak? It’s just you and that thing. The other corps members around you? Scuttered onto the floor in bloody pieces.
Levi?
You escape its clutches by a hair’s breadth, the monster’s stinging smell of death and rotten flesh making your guts turn. You need to focus, need to control your fear and anger. Otherwise, you’ll die just like all the others did.
Levi…Is he dead as well? There is no one around, no one showed a single reaction to your multiple cries for help, your signs. Maybe you’re the only one who’s left. Which means that Farlan and Levi are gone.
Levi, gone? Fuck, you should have told him about your true feelings yesterday, you should have pressed your lips against his like you always dreamed about. This was the last opportunity to tell him how much you love him before both of you die.
And now it will be forever too late.
Just when you’re about to dash forward, the arm of the titan yanks towards you with breath-taking speed. Your eyes widen in sheer horror as all you can do is stare in sheer disbelief.
Is this how you will die? Through the hand of an abnormal titan, eating you alive?
You always dreamed of a life on the surface with Levi by your side. Maybe a small cottage on the edge of a busy city close to a river. Having a little farm with a few animals here and there, Levi working for a local business while you stay home and care for your home. For a brief moment, you allow your eyes to rest, to get lost in the life you will never have.
If only you had told him sooner. Maybe then it would have been different. Maybe then you wouldn’t feel your bones crack against the sheer force of the titan’s flat palm, throwing you into the air like a ball.
As soon as your body hits the ground, everything goes black.
-5 years later-
He opens his eyes against the way too harsh sunlight. Another night he hasn’t slept more than 2 hours. Day 1869 of missing you.
“Good morning, Captain Levi!”
He doesn’t even care to reply, feet carrying him down the hallway monotone. His days have always been the same since the day he lost Isabel, Farlan and you: Getting haunted in his sleep, waking up alone, surviving another day in this living hell. It’s almost ironic, how he already hated the world when you were in it. Little did he know how much worse it would get when you’re gone.
There is no day since back then that doesn’t revolve around you. You, with your hair down in the sun. You, beating up some tuff guys and showing them their place. You, that fucking cursed night before you had to leave.
Until this day, he hates himself for not being there. By the time he arrived, everyone was dead, brutally murdered by an abnormal titan. And even after searching for your corpse for hours in the pouring rain, he didn’t even manage to find a single limb left of you. This should be a good sign. After all, it might mean that you somehow managed to survive.
“The chances of (y/n) surviving and managing to flee on her own are 1 against 500.000”, Erwin said back then.
Maybe it would have actually felt better, knowing that you’re dead. Maybe this would spare him from getting haunted by your giggling and fucking gorgeous face each and every night.
But…If getting haunted by your presence is all he has left, he shouldn’t complain about it.
“We are heading out today. It is said that there are countless abnormal titans roaming around a city nearby”, Erwin explains briefly.
“How the fuck did these things even manage to get in there?”, Levi grumbles in response while taking a sip of his way too hot tea.
“That’s not what I care about. What I’m more interested in is the fact that a group of villagers managed to trap one of them.”
Levi can’t help but put his cup of tea down while Hange bursts out in sheer excitement next to him. A group of villagers, trapping an abnormal titan?
“Former corps members?”, he questions.
“Apparently not. Maybe they are interested in a new job”, Erwin replies, getting up from his seat and straightening his uniform.
“We are leaving right now.”
“Right now? Over some brats who were lucky to not get eaten by that titan?”
“You can’t deny that these ‘brats’ have to be skilled in order to trap an abnormal titan, Levi.  Also, I heard the head of them is a woman.”
Levi huffs to himself. Skilled, huh? Lucky is definitely the better fit.
You sink your blade straight into the eye of the disgusting creature lying in front of you, watch in sheer satisfaction how it squeals underneath.
“Hope you enjoy that as much as I do”, you mumble, twisting and turning your sword painfully slow.
“(y/n), d-don’t you think that’s enough? What if it escapes?”, the man next to you cries out, holding safe distance between himself and the abnormal.
“So what? Listen, you little shit. If you even try to escape, I will kill you without even blinking, got it?”
You rip your blade out. In, out, in, out until everything around you is covered in crimson.
Just like back then.
You stumble back when a wave of nausea hits you. The sight of Isabel’s lifeless head, her limbs scattered across the muddy floor. Back then, you weren’t able to save her, weren’t even able to save yourself. If it wasn’t for your crew, you’d be dead by now. Just like her…
“Hey.”
“How about you take a break for a sec? You’re drifting off again.”
Her gently voice pulls you out of your nightmare just like her tender touch. Petra has been the greatest support since that fateful day. In fact, the only reason you are still alive is her. When she found you, you were already on the brink of death. Only due to her passionate and long-term care, you learned how to walk again, learned how to fight again.
“Sorry”, you mumble, allowing yourself to rest for a moment against her strong shoulder.
“(y/n), I’m sorry to interrupt you like this but…We spotted members of the survey corps?”
“The survey corps?”, you repeat in sheer disbelief.
Rage starts flooding your veins in an instant, forcing you to pick up your blade again. If there’s one thing you will never forgive the survey corps for, it’s the fact that they left you standing in the rain. The countless people who died with the wings of faith embroidered onto their jackets, eaten alive by a titan while your desperate cries for help remained unanswered until this day. For Erwin Smith, you were nothing but canon fodder, nothing but a bait. And you will forever hate him over the fact that he is partly responsible for the death of Isabel, Farlan and Levi.
You storm in the direction your scout sighted them, jumping from tree to tree in order to catch them by surprise. You will definitely not tolerate survey corps members around your area, especially when you just caught an abnormal titan to study and torture.
“There they are.”
Their disgusting green cloaks fill you with thick anger, almost force you onto the ground to knock every single one of them out. But you know all too well this isn’t the way to go. No, you will wait here until the right time comes to throw yourself at their captain.
There are five of them, walking towards the direction of your village. Just wait a few more seconds until the one who walks ahead is underneath you, one second and you…
You lunge yourself at the person with full speed, forcing them to the ground. Him, to be exact. That firm chest exposes all too urgently that you just attacked a man.
“Are you out of your goddamn mind, brat?”, he barks at you, rough hands grabbing your wrists so tightly that your bones threaten to shatter.
You aren’t able to defend yourself, though.
That voice, the way he called you brat.
Is it really possible that…
You allow your eyes to look up at him and for a moment, time seems to stand still.
“Levi.”
You breathe his name out like a prayer, as if your dream might become reality. These grey and unbothered eyes look just like you remember his, the dark hair framing his face oh so perfectly.
“Levi, is that you?”
He can’t comprehend his feelings. Just a second ago, he was under attack of a stranger. But your eyes aren’t foreign. They hold the spark he dreams of each and every night, the memory he cares about so deeply. Is it really possible, that…
“(y/n).”
Everyone was so sure that you died on the battlefield, that the titan must have eaten you alive without leaving any remains. But maybe there was nothing to remain. Maybe you actually did manage to survive. Is it possible? Is this really you?
“I thought you died.”
Your voice is nothing but a fade away whisper, tears streaming down your usual so composed face like rivers when your memories begin to crash down on you like a house of cards. All those years, you were convinced Levi lost his life on this battlefield as well, that you were the only one remaining. But now you’re sitting on top of him, taking in his clean scent while he glares at you the way he used to.
“Everyone tried to convince me that that fucking abnormal ate you back then, that there is no chance you survived. Now look at you, dumbass”, he breathes out, very own eyes now coated in a thin layer of glimmering tears.
There is no time to waste. With a swift motion, you lunge yourself at him again, wrap your arms around his strong torso as if your life depends on it while resting your head against his chest and crying your heart out.
Words will always fail to express how much you missed him, that you thought about him each and every night since the day he was taken away from you so roughly. But now, you will never let him go again. Now you won’t waste another opportunity to tell him how you really feel.
“I love you, Levi. I loved you since our days in the underground city, I loved you through all these horrible years of grief. I love you. I love you”, you finally blurt out.
“I love you too, (y/n). I always did.”
Gently, he rests his hand against your nape while lifting your chin up with the other.
The second your lips meet, your world feels complete for the first time. All the pain, the grief, the things you had to endure. The countless nights of imagining him right by your side, the thought of never seeing him again. And now he’s here, right in your arms while kissing you so passionately that you fail to breathe.
“I love you”, he repeats so softly that your heart melts away like butter.
“I love you…”
“I finally found my sun again”, you smile against his lips.
You snuggle yourself onto him even tighter, your grip around his torso firm. Oh, you will definitely never let this man go again. Not after it took both of you so many years to meet again, not when he’s all you ever wanted.
Levi Ackerman, the love of your life.
“Who’s that woman throwing herself at you from a tree and then getting a smooch from you?”
“Shut up, shitty four-eyes”, Levi barks at the person standing behind him.
Levi and relationships headcanon
Tags: Canon Universe Levi, Season 1 Levi, relationships, trust issues, angst, Levi x !fem reader,
Why he wouldn't be in a relationship/doesn't want to?
Friendship alone is a huge gamble when you're in the Survey Corps, this is due to the fact that soldiers die in ever expeditions and you are not an exception to this risk.
Levi grew up from the underground and there's nearly no one in there who could relate with him on a deeper level given the fact that they die too soon to form any connection with him.
Soldiers are dying on every expedition and Levi would always make it sure that those deaths won't be wasted.
Levi grew up in a hostile environment while receiving abandonment at least 3 times in his life (his mother, Kenny, then Isabel and Farlan) contributing further to his trust issues. His comrades dying are not helping with his abandonment issues either.
"We're in a middle of a fking war. Got no time to think about cringe romance shit."
All these contribute to his aloofness, and the distance he puts between him and people. But Levi in the end has the capacity to have compassion in his own way.
So now, let's talk about why would Levi consider being in a relationship/how he got in a relationship with you.
Be strong, skilled, if possible near if not his level.
Don't die
Be assertive
You share the same values as him
Be confident
You know how to take care of yourself
you enlisted in the Survey Corps a little earlier than him. He took your number one spot and you're not having it.
Rivals at first, you both constantly train together in hopes of one upping each other.
He saw through beyond your brash exterior that you have this compassionate core as well.
He trusts you at first in battle, but as time goes by he started trusting you with other matters as well.
Although only a few hours, he managed to get a good sleep after talking or spending time with you.
He doesn't really realizes that he likes you at first, it would take an event of you not present a week or two in his life before he realizes that.
Your assertiveness got him to admit that he likes you
If you guys got any asks, feel free to do so!
Hi Jelly, I love the stories you write. I also have a request. Can you write a Levi x Y/n story, where Levi first joined the scouts with Isabel and Farlan, and when Y/n, who is a lieutenant and Erwin's younger sister welcomes them to the scouts, Levi starts to have a crush on her and acts nervous around her when talking to her. Isabel and Farlan, and Hanji both noticed this and want to help them get together. Also can it be a happy ending when they are together and Farlan and Isabel doesn't die?
Lovely lieutenant
Levi x fem!reader
Canon AU, fluff, romance, falling in love, becoming a couple, Isabel and Farlan live.
When Levi joins the scouts he instantly falls for you. He worries about pursuing you because of his nerves and because you are the sister of Erwin Smith. His friends help him build up his courage and push the two of you together. When Levi returns from a mission where he almost lost his friends, he takes a big step towards making you his.
A little crease formed between Levi's brows as he felt irritated. He was irritated that he had to introduce himself to so many people. If he could run away, he would. Levi was never a fan of crowds or groups of people because that meant lots of germs and filth.
It was like a lightning bolt hit him when he locked eyes with you. The world slowed down as you laughed at Erwin Smith and playfully shoved him. His heart danced in his chest as he took you in. You were pure perfection to him and he had no clue how to talk to you.
Farlan leaned over and whispered to his friend. "I have never seen you look at anyone like that before. You have a crush, right?"
Levi gulped hard. "Y-Yes. H-How do I talk t-to her?"
Isabel grinned. "Just tell her she's pretty like a flower."
Farlan hummed. "Yeah, that would do it."
Levi repeated the words around in his head. He knew exactly what to say to you. As soon as you stood before him he shouted. "Flower!"
You stared at Levi. "Flower?"
Levi slowly went red. "Y-Yes. You...you're...uh..."
Farlan threw his arm over Levi's shoulders. "I think he's saying you're pretty like a flower."
You gasped a bit before giggling. "Thank you so much. I think you're incredibly handsome. You're as stunning as a lake with tall mountains behind it dusted in snow. Breathtaking."
Levi shook a little. "Th-thank you."
You gave your name. "I'm a lieutenant."
The colour drained from his face when you mentioned your last name. "Smith?"
You let out an awkward laugh. "Yeah, Erwin is my big brother."
"Brother?"
"Yep."
Levi instantly perked up at the news. "R-right. U-Uh...d-do...do...do you like t-tea?"
You smiled sweetly. "I do. I love it."
"G-good." He smiled at you.
You felt your heart dance. "You have a cute smile." You looked over at your brother as he called for you. "I have to go." You looked back at Levi. "I have work to do. It was great to meet you, Levi. Erwin told me all about you, Farlan and Isabel." You bowed to all three. "I look forward to getting to know you."
Levi watched you run off to your brother. "I...I...I want her...my heart...it beats her name."
Farlan ruffled Levi's hair. "My best bud is in love!" He chuckled. "We'll help you, Mr Romance."
After lots of pep talks and support from his friends, he had a few ideas on how to approach you, how to romance you, how to love you and how to confess. He was ready and with an important mission coming up where he was going to be away from you, he wanted to act on his feelings.
You were alone so it was the perfect chance. He strolled up to you, each step causing his heart to hammer in his chest. The world around him disappeared and you were his only focus. Before he knew it he was standing before you.
He stammered your name and saw such a sweet smile appear on your lips, it was a smile that he had only seen on you when you looked at him. He took a deep breath. "H-Hi."
You reached over and fixed his cravat. "Hello, Levi. How can I help you?"
"T-Tea."
"You want to have tea with me?"
He nodded. "Y-Yes, b-but not as um...s-scouts."
You felt your cheeks burn. "Are you asking me on a tea date?"
"Y-Yes."
You held his hands making him flinch. "I would really like that."
He squeezed your hand tightly. "G-Good."
"Levi?"
"Y-Yes."
You moved closer to him. "There's no need to be so nervous or scared. I like you. I like you a lot. I won't use you or run away. "I want this."
He lifted your hands up to his lips and kissed them. "Me too. S-So..."
You released his hands. "I'll get the tea. We have privacy here in my office." You closed the door to your room and made some tea in your little kitchen area. "Are you going on the next mission?"
"I am. You're staying behind, right?"
You handed him the tea. "Yeah. I'm looking after the base, doing paperwork and doing some training. Erwin is always like this with me. Super protective and rarely sends me out. I don't mind it, means I can keep everything organised in the scouts." You sat down and sighed. "What I do means a lot of people can sleep at night instead of staying up to work. I'm a great killer of titans, but I'm also a killer of paperwork."
Levi chuckled. "Funny and cute."
You smiled. "Thank you." You reached over and held his hand. "I believe in you, Levi. You'll do amazing on your first mission. I'll be right here waiting for you to return."
He squeezed your hand. "G-Good."
It seemed so natural to talk together. At first, Levi was nervous but soon he relaxed, he joked with you and made you laugh a lot. The two of you swapped childhood stories. Levi felt safe with you and you never once judged him for the life he used to live in the underground. You were so understanding, it made him feel so heard and cared for.
By the end of your little tea date, he had to go to bed so he could go on the mission the next day. He was flustered when you walked him to his room. As you stood outside his room, the two of you talked and the desire to kiss you was so strong, but he never acted. The two of you parted with sweet good nights.
As Levi raced around on his mission, all he could think about were your wonderful lips. He wanted to kiss you. He stuck with his friends and didn't go after Erwin for his book because he wouldn't do that to you. He wouldn't do that to the brother of the woman he loved. He was going to be good and stick with his friends.
When the deadly titan arrived, he ripped into it before a single person was hurt or attacked. Erwin returned and was impressed with Levi's actions because if Levi hadn't been there, who knows what could have possibly happened.
Levi rode back as fast as he could to the base. He had come so close to death that he knew he shouldn't dance around anymore. As soon as he saw you waiting for everyone to come back, he jumped off his horse and sprinted up to you.
You smiled brightly. "Levi! You made it."
Levi grabbed your hips, yanked you close and crashed his lips against yours. He kissed you with all the passion and love within his heart. He bit your lip causing you to open your mouth. He pushed his tongue into your mouth and felt instant fireworks.
The two of you moved together as passion and love burned between you and Levi. The whoops and whistles from your friends were ignored because this kiss had been a long time coming. You clung to each other as little moans escaped you. You were hungry for each other.
You part from Levi first and he chased your lips. You giggled and gave him a light kiss. "That was worth the wait."
Levi blushed. "It was. I want more."
"Come to my room after briefing and we can kiss a lot more."
He kissed you again. "I can't wait."
"I can't either."
Solace: Levi x Reader
An au where you and Levi were childhood friends, trying to get by in the Underground. Canon au
Wc: 2.3k
a/n: yoo its been a while lol anw, i really love this guy so here yall go<33 i really want to keep farlan and isabel alive here
The underground, a city whose air, if you can even call it that, is heavy with several stenches. Blood, smoke, dirt, death, and it was no different at a certain building in a little room. The room was dark, the only light illuminating the room was from outside which was covered by worn out curtains. The stench of death was terribly strong, flies, maggots and other insects seemed to gather at the bed on one side of the room, seemingly having a feast while a little boy was starving. A small and thin Levi sat at the corner of the room, mindlessly staring at the corpse of his mother, desensitized. The little boy has been staying in the horrid place since his mother passed, with no one to take care of the boy he starved, his body now resembling that of a skeleton, deprived of life. And that’s when he heard it.
He could hear muffled voices from outside the room that he did not dare to leave. He didn’t know if it was true, if after all these days someone would finally come into the room, into his life, was it alright for him to hope? Before sinking deeper into his thoughts, the door opened, not slowly, and not hurriedly either, it simply opened as if this was just an everyday occurrence, and considering the Underground, it just might be. Levi watched carefully as the man went to see his mother, and for a moment the man just stared at the lifeless woman on the bed. “Ya seem to have lost a lot of weight, Kuchel” the man said, not tearing his gaze away from the terror of the woman’s corpse, not even one second. Lost a little weight? That’s all you had to say? The little boy had a lot he wanted to say but could only muster up two words “She’s dead” The man looked at the boy as if it was his first time noticing him in the room, he looked awful, almost as dead as the woman. “And you? Are you alive?” The little boy remained silent, staring at him. “Woah, gimme a break, you understand me right? What’s your name?” After a few more seconds passed, the little boy finally gave in, still not fully trusting the man in front of him. “Levi… just levi.” Levi watched as the man leaned on the wall, slowly sliding down to sit on the floor.
“I see.. Kuchel, guess you’re right. It’s not even worth telling me your name… I’m Kenny, just Kenny”
The man fed him, clothed him, sheltered him, taught him. And Levi did his best to get all he could from this man, though he was with him, he always felt like Kenny would leave someday, that he shouldn’t get too complacent, he’ll leave too. Though Levi told himself that he didn’t care, a part of him aches when he thinks about it. “Hey brat, I’m gonna go somewhere, won’t return tonight. Help yourself to some food.” Kenny motioned to the counter that had bread, potatoes, and water. Of course he’d eat those, Levi thought, I earned those. All the food at the counter was either robbed by Levi, or bought by Levi using money he stole or earned. If there was something good about Kenny, it's that he was a good teacher. He taught Levi how to survive in the Underground, first he taught him how to hold a knife, how to swing it, and how to swing it at others. Kenny had Levi stay at a house that he said he “found” unoccupied. Levi didn’t question it. As long as he had a roof over his head, Levi was okay. A few moments after Kenny left, Levi decided to leave to go to the town center. Even though it was called the town center it was nothing more than a few stalls for food, clothes, and “medicine.” The people weren’t all that lively as well, most people were keeping to themselves. All that is, except for you.
After beating up a few thugs for trying to rob him, Levi decided to go home. Just as he was about to round the corner to his home, he felt a presence, someone was following him. He quickly turned to a secluded alleyway and sure enough, the person followed him. He got his knife ready and tackled the person to the ground getting ready to fight, Levi stopped when he heard a shrill scream. It was a little girl, well she looked younger, smaller than him. He stared at you with his cold gaze, not letting his shock be seen, but your next words gave his facade away “Hello! Can we live together?!” You gave him a toothy smile, and he saw that you were missing a tooth. You were wiggling and struggling under him, and that’s only when he noticed that he still has you pinned down. He stood up quickly, not bothering to help you up “Get lost. Don’t follow me.” And of course you didn’t listen, you kept following him till you both reached the house, and Levi in turn, did not stop you when you stepped inside his home. “Wooow! You have so many food!! This could last half a year!!” You say in excitement as your little legs rushed to get to the counter. Levi wondered what you meant, the food on the counter could clearly only last a few days at most. That’s when he noticed how thin you were, almost like him back then. He suddenly felt a pang in his heart, feeling guilty about how he tackled you to the ground earlier.
“Stop being noisy, kid.”
“You’re a kid too!”
“Nuh uh, I’m already 10.”
“Well I’m 9!”
“You’re lying.”
“Am not!!”
You and Levi kept bickering like the little children you were, and for some reason Levi felt happy? He didn’t know why, but this felt so natural, like this is what kids were supposed to do, but he knew better, after all he was in the Underground.
“uGH!! You’re so anuyin–”
“You mean annoying?”
Levi chuckled as you began stomping your feet in frustration. But just as quickly as you entered his life, you suddenly stopped. Levi didn’t want to admit it but he was a bit worried, just as he was about to speak up you suddenly got closer to him “Hey, what’s your name?” Your doe eyes did something to his heart that he could not explain, he must be sick from breathing the filthy air of the Underground, yeah that’s probably it. Levi looked hesitant though, should he tell you his name? What if someone sent you? What if it was someone he wronged before trying to get back at him? Everything Kenny taught him told him that he should just shoo you, but despite that his mouth opened
“Levi.”
“Y/N! Nice to meet ya! Can I have some bread?!” You were pointing to the bread with stars in your eyes, and drooling in your mouth. Levi winced and nodded. To his surprise you just took a tiny piece of the bread to eat. “Thank ya! That’s so good!! It doesn’t have the stinky dark spots! Can I eat again tomorrow?!” You started to grab Levi’s hand and swing it while dancing a little silly dance. “Huh?? Aren’t you starving or something? Eat it all.” And for some reason you couldn’t process what Levi said, eat it all? You already did though. Levi took the bread and placed it near your mouth “Eat. You need it. You’re too thin.” After a few more silent moments, you bit the bread again, and slowly started to cry. Levi sighed and used his sleeves to wipe your tears.
You spent the day talking Levi’s ears off while eating bread on a rugged couch, he wondered how you have so much energy despite being so obviously malnourished. “Haha! Anyway Levi, how did you get this house?” Levi wiped a crumb on the corner of your mouth “It was unoccupied.” He stated simply. “Oh. ok! Can I live with you?” you had this innocent smile as if you weren’t aware at all about your surroundings, but Levi knew, he could only imagine what hardships you went through in the underground, he knows it must be hard being a little girl in this ugly place. “Sure. Make sure to clean up though.” Levi watched as you squealed in glee and continued eating. Levi noticed how despite being so talkative, you never really talked about yourself, it was always about him. Whatever, he thought, he shouldn’t get too attached to you too.
The following morning with you, Levi felt like an old man. Last night you followed him into the bathroom when he said he was gonna wash up, this resulted in him kicking you out the room and locking the door, while you just sat idly in front of the bathroom. He also told you to wash up because you were dirty from being tackled to the ground, he gave you some of his clothes to change in. When Levi was gonna head to bed, you followed him of course! After a lot of bickerings he finally let you sleep beside him, occasionally removing your arms from his waist. Although you both fell asleep hugging each other. And now he feels so tired while you keep talking about what the sky would look like. “I think the outside sky is color pink!! It’s my favorite color y’know–” You were cut off by him shoving a potato in your mouth.
Levi opted to stay at home today, not trusting himself if he could protect the two of you outside just yet. But you were still alive weren’t you? Surely you knew how to fight if you were still alive here. But Levi thought he would ask you about yourself some other time. That was until Kenny came back home. He opened the door wide and strided to the couch, lying down and covering his eyes with his arm. “Ugh, what a fucking day..” Levi just looked at Kenny, who seemed to be napping, and didn’t notice when you left his side to go to the unknown scary man. All of a sudden you jumped on the man’s chest and swung a pocket knife, aiming for his neck. Kenny got startled and immediately threw you to the ground, overcoming you with strength, as you hit your head hard on the floor. Levi’s eyes widened as he panicked “oi! Kenny, that's my friend.” You looked at Levi surprised as helped you up. “What the fuck?? You’re bringing some girl home now?? What, your little girlfriend?? She tried to kill me!” Levi went on a protective stance shielding you from Kenny as you stayed confused. “I thought you lived alone??” “I never said that.” A quiet oh left your mouth and that was your introduction to Kenny.
Now Kenny had two brats to take care of, everything he taught Levi, he taught you too. And to his surprise you were a fast learner, even faster than Levi. Just like that, 2 years passed. You both got used to eating together, working together, and sleeping together. Everywhere you went, Levi followed. Some of the old ladies even called Levi your little puppy, which only made you laugh and Levi annoyed. One day however, you weren’t with Levi. He was busy with work, and you didn’t ask what job it was but you wanted to go to town to buy some food. You rarely go out alone now that you have him, but your pride tells you that you’re smarter and stronger than him (not really). Just as you were looking at the stalls, someone grabbed your wrist, trying to pull you to an alleyway, but you were smarter now, better. You quickly used what Kenny had been teaching you, kicking him in the balls, and slashing his face with your knife as he bent down.
“You little fucking bitch!” He swung at your face, which you easily avoided, but then his other hand pulled out a gun and shot your stomach. You fell down in agony, it has been a while since you felt this type of pain. Training with Levi, he would usually go easy on you, leaving only a few scratches at most, but this was the real deal. You stay still on the ground, your breathing shallow, as your consciousness slowly fades away.
Levi was on his way returning home when he saw a crowd of people gathering at the town center, he would usually carry on but this time something is telling him to go check it out. And that he did. He saw you, on the ground, bleeding, unconscious. His stomach dropped as his eyes widened, all he saw was red as he took the man hovering above you, slashing his knife at his chest and repeatedly stomping on his head. All he wanted was to kill that man. The crowd that gathered watched in horror as the 12 year old boy beat the man to death, his face barely recognizable as the boy kept punching, kicking, and stabbing him. He stopped when the man no longer responded to anything he did, he quickly got by your side crying, he carried you to patch you up in the safety of your home, ignoring the whispers and cheers of the crowd, but not the way Kenny walked away. He had a feeling that Kenny would not return.
Days have passed since then, Levi took care of your wound and nursed you back to health, something that Kenny had also taught the both of you. Levi knew that Kenny leaving must have affected you, but you chose not to show it, and he chose to keep quiet. At night as you both sleep Levi could feel you hugging his waist tight, as if you were scared that he’d leave too. But Levi has no intention of leaving you, in fact he was scared that you would leave him. Little did the both of you know, in this cruel world an invisible string had tied you to each other. As Levi closed his eyes, hugging you closer, he promised you that he would protect you. You were his salvation, his joy, his solace.
a/n: i want to continue this and save a lot of characters 😭 also should i start ao3
About Her - Levi Ackerman & Daughter!Reader
Synopsis | Levi Ackerman is not fond of people. That being said, with a daughter in tow, he must learn who to trust if he wants both of you to make it out alive. Just long enough so he can see you grow up
A/N | this is not LEVI X READER as in ROMANTIC!! IT IS STRICTLY FAMILIAL
**I had originally posted this from my old blog, but I've since deleted it. So I'm reposting it here! If you find another version of this titled ‘Red Winter’, that’s the old one
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Levi became a father young.
At the age of 19, a one night stand resulted in accidental pregnancy, and when the girl found out at two weeks, she decided she wanted nothing to do with the baby, as her parents would disown her for getting pregnant so young
and with a man she barely knew
Levi agreed to raise the child on his own; so when you were born, you were dumped on your father and your biological mother never spoke with Levi again
Levi had no idea how to raise a baby.
By some God given miracle, or perhaps just fatherly instinct, he managed to keep you alive.
at the age of 21, He had 2 companions who helped care for you, and who were the only other people to know of your existence beside your father
They weren’t allowed to hold you or be near you unless Levi was also in the room, but they cooed over your chubby cheeks and loved you like older siblings all the same
Running a crime ring with Farlan and Isabel certainly got him enough money to buy you food and keep a roof over your head, but it was never enough to get you a home on the surface like he wished
Until he was offered a job, which led to him being cornered by the Survey Corps
When Erwin Smith offered him a position in the Survey Corps and to be cleared of their crimes, as opposed to what could be a life sentence, he knew he couldn’t rot in jail and leave you alone
Or worse; be put in a home that wasn’t with him.
“She’s almost 2, you know.”
“Hm?”
“My daughter. What will happen to her if I agree to join you?”
Erwin knew by the look of him, Levi wouldn’t agree to any options that separated him from you
“We can house her with you and the other scouts, if you’d prefer. But I’m not sure how the other men housing with you would handle a baby.”
That was a good enough answer for Levi. He wouldn’t let you go anywhere he couldn’t follow
Your 2nd birthday came and went as he, Farlan, and Isabel were stationed at a cantonment somewhere between Trost and Ragako
the other scouts quickly learned how strange of a child you really were. You didn’t cry or fuss very much–which they were thankful for, but you stared
a lot.
You would sit off to the side while Levi went through what the other scouts called “training”. For him it was nothing more than a breeze
However, your eyes stayed glued to him at all times
It freaked out some of the other scouts–unnerved them, even–that a 2 year old had a stare so intense
Hange was easily fascinated by you and your odd behavior, rambling on about how toddlers are normally very hyperactive and tend to be very loud and/or whiny, But as long as you could at least see your father, you remained quiet and content
The only thing was your stare
Levi was easily very protective of you, not letting anyone touch or hold you (Especially not Hange. That lunatic was too rowdy)
The maids were responsible for you whenever Levi wasn’t around, which was rarely
When time came for the 23rd expedition, Levi hounded the housewives responsible for watching you while he was gone; He made the message very clear you were to be kept clean, safe, and happy
And you were :)
But they still feared for their lives
By the time he returned, he had been so disheartened he just silently took you back to the barracks without saying a word to anyone
That night he hugged your tiny body into his side and cried silently in his bunk
Coming to trust Erwin had been… a process. But by the time your were 5 he trusted Erwin enough to let him hold you
Erwin sat you on his shoulders, and you got so excited about being up so high up you talked the scouts’ ears off for six hours
Levi didn’t let him hold you after that.
Erwin did it again anyway.
When you were 8, Levi finally let you ride on the horses with him when they traveled between cities, as long as they weren’t on an expedition
You grew close with the housekeepers in the barracks, then being your only companions while your father and the other soldiers were away
You had also grown to look up to the soldiers, a lot of them growing protective of you as well
Growing up around soldiers taught you to harden your exterior, to not let anything get under your skin, even if you were a bit sensitive. They taught you what soldiers were made of
When wall Maria fell, you were 10
You stayed with the maids in the barracks for a week, not seeing Levi once while he did what he could during the tragedy.
Not even they could raise your spirits.
As the world fell apart around you, Levi became just the slightest bit distant, and you didn’t fail to notice it
He was trying to protect you from the death and despair he carried with him, he didn’t want you to see how soulless he felt every time he returned from wall Maria
He knew how compassionate you were
So kind, hearing about the casualties would no doubt tear you apart
You certainly had more soul than he did, he thought
When you turned 12, you told him you wanted to join the scouts, like him
You’d known how much you wanted to join the Survey Corps for years, just seeing how hard they all trained and fought to protect children like you–children who did nothing and knew nothing of the horrors beyond the walls
You knew nothing about titans either, you’d never seen one in person. but you wanted to put your heart on the line like the soldiers you grew up with
Erwin, Hange, Levi’s new squad, they had a feeling you wanted to join the scouts but they never expected you to actually tell your dad. To his face. In the middle of the mess hall, no less.
“I want to join the scouts!” You came out with it, somehow, and instantly the entire mess hall got quiet. What little courage you had gathered instantly vanished.
“No way.”
You and Levi talked about everything, never any secrets between the two of you, but this was something else
In the end, the two of you only had each other, and a decision like this he didn’t want to consider no matter how much he felt it coming
It took forever, a lot of arguing, but eventually he agreed to let you go, as long as you joined his squad after graduating so he could protect you
So you agreed.
2 years after the fall of Wall Maria, you set off to join the scouts in what would be the 104th Cadet Corps
The Better Man
Levi x fem!reader
Now a series!
Synopsis: Growing up in The Underground, Levi had been an important part of your life. All that changed when The Survey Corps took him away and he never came back. Now you’re above ground and you’re looking for answers.
Word Count: 2.8K
Contents/Warnings: NSFW, MDNI, canonverse levi, aot canon divergent, romantic smut, soft couple sex, former lovers, lost love,
AN: My first public fanfic! This one wouldn’t let me go for the last two weeks, so I’ve decided to put it out there for the world. I love me some Levi and a good, sad love story. I hope you love it too. Input and comments welcomed and appreciated!
_____
“Please wait here in his office. Captain Levi should arrive shortly,” the officer replies as he leads you inside and closes the door. The room is spacious enough: a bookcase with various books and trinkets, a sofa, and a large desk piled with papers and files, all neatly organized, of course. You wouldn’t expect anything less from Levi.
You sink into the sofa. “This is crazy,” you sigh, placing your head in your hands. Your wedding is this week and you have a mountain of things to do, but you’ve convinced yourself that you have to do this today. So you’ve taken the journey outside Trost District to the Survey Corps headquarters. It’s now or never, and you’re nervous as hell about it. You haven’t seen Levi in over three years; in fact, until a few months ago, you’d thought he was dead.
______
Since the moment Kenny Ackerman brought a small, malnourished child into your father’s tavern in The Underground, Levi had been a part of your life. You were both about the same age and your father barely took interest in you, so your shared loneliness made you instant comrades. Kenny would leave Levi for days at a time and it was you who would bring him food and company. Sometimes he would even sneak into your room through the window at night, and you’d read him stories about heroes and damsels in distress. Eventually, you taught him to read those stories himself, with the little schooling you’d had.
But Kenny had a different education for Levi in mind. With Kenny’s tutelage, Levi changed from a timid and sensitive boy to a young man who could handle any violent situation that came his way. By 16 years of age, he was one of the most feared people in The Underground. He’d stopped visiting you for years before that though, after Kenny suddenly left him and The Underground without a trace. When you were 18, your father was killed in a bar brawl and you had nowhere to go but the streets. Once again, loneliness and abandonment brought you and Levi together, and he invited you to live with him and his small gang. Years passed as his group clawed its way to the top of The Underground’s most powerful crime organization, but something else was forming. Your feelings for each other had grown past your childhood friendship, and you became known to everyone as, “Levi’s girl.” Love was a luxury that few knew in this dark city, and although neither of you had confessed these feelings to each other, both of you knew it in your hearts. Words were difficult, and some things were better left unsaid.
The years went on as Levi ruled the streets and evaded the MP’s, always returning to you and the apartment you two shared together. Despite living in the hellhole that was The Underground, you were content just being with him. And then everything changed. Word spread quickly that The Survey Corps had arrested Farlan, Isabelle, and Levi. You ran there as fast as you could, but by the time you arrived, they were gone. A few hours later, men forced their way into your apartment, blindfolded you, and took you above ground. Without any explanation, they gave you fake identification papers and enough money to live on for the next 6 months.
You tried in vain to find any information on Levi and his whereabouts as you searched from town to town, taking any odd job you could find along the way. After two years passed, any hope you had of finding him was gone, and you tried to move on with your life. You weren’t expecting to have any feelings for Lars, the handsome Survey Corpsman who frequently visited the tavern in which you worked. His personality was a complete opposite from Levi but his charm and wit slowly worked their way into your heart. When he asked you to marry him, you said yes; you were ready to have a companion again.
A few months later, Lars told you that he’d been promoted to an elite group of Survey Corps, and that he would be moved to the main headquarters near Trost. He brought you to the welcome party that was being put on for him and a few other members and introduced you to his new comrades. “But this is the man I really want you to meet.” He walks you toward a short man with dark hair. “Captain Levi, I’d like to introduce you to my fiancée.”
He turns to look at you both, and you can feel your body go numb. Everything slows down around you and all you can see is him, your former lover. For a moment, you see a spark of emotion in his eyes, but it’s gone in an instant, and only an unfeeling stare remains. “It’s nice to meet you,” he says coldly as he shakes your hand. You hear Lars say something about how the Captain is the strongest soldier in the Survey Corps and what an honor it is to serve under him, but you’re barely listening.
“Are you ok? You’re suddenly pale,” Lars says with concern. Levi watches silently.
“I just…it’s hot in here. I’m not feeling too well. I’m going to go back home to lay down.”
“Yes, we should go.”
“No, you stay here and celebrate with your comrades. I can make my way back,” you force a smile to Levi. “It was nice meeting you, Captain. Good luck with all your future endeavors.”
As you step outside, you stop to catch your breath. You feel like you’ve just seen a ghost, and your whole body is shaking.
“Y/N,” you hear Levi’s voice at the entrance of the tavern. He begins to walk toward you.
“No..” you put your arm out in front of you, “…I don’t…I can’t do this,” and you turn to walk away. Levi doesn’t follow.
Since then, it’s as if a cloud follows you everywhere. You know you won’t find any peace until you confront the man who left you all those years ago, and so while Lars is out of town on family business, you find yourself at Survey Corps Headquarters, waiting in Levi’s office.
_____
There’s footsteps in the hallway and then a pause. Levi opens the door and looks genuinely shocked to find you sitting on his sofa. You stand to face him.
He quickly composes himself. “What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be getting ready for the wedding?” He says with venom in his voice. He must have had some formal business to attend to today as he’s in his dress uniform of a long green overcoat belted at the waist, instead of the brown cropped jacket and ODM straps typical of the Corps. Levi takes off his jacket and hangs it on the coat rack. He doesn’t look at you as he crosses the room to his desk.
“I should. But I needed to talk to you.”
“Alright, talk then.”
Your heart feels like it’s going to beat out of your chest.
“Why did you leave me?”
He turns, his steely grey eyes finally looking at you. “I was arrested with Farlan and Isabelle and made to join the Survey Corps. It’s not like I had a choice.”
“But that’s not the whole story, is it Levi? The same day, some men grabbed me, brought me to the surface, gave me new papers and some money and told me I was free to live above ground from now on. That was your doing, wasn’t it?”
He says nothing. You step closer. “And it doesn’t look like you’re being forced by them now, Captain,” you say sarcastically, trying to get a rise out of him, but still no response. Your voice softens, “Levi…after you were taken by the Survey Corps, they told me you were dead. Please..I just want to know the truth.”
Silence envelopes the room and you wonder if you should just leave, then Levi lets out a deep sigh. “It was better if you thought that. If I could get you to the surface, that was enough for me. I wanted you to find a better life, and I knew I couldn’t give you that. So I took a job and made a deal: I’d get arrested and join the Survey Corps if you were free to live above ground.”
There’s so many questions swirling in your mind. ”A deal?…Where are Farlan and Isabell?”
“They’re dead.” He’s silent for a few moments, deciding how honest he should be. “They were eaten by titans because I couldn’t save them in time.”
“And yet you stayed with the Survey Corps?”
“I made a decision. It’s complicated.”
“And your decision was to disappear from my life completely? I’ve heard nothing from you for the past 3 years, and this whole time you’ve been here. You could have come looking for me.”
His body becomes tense. “Did you not hear what I just said? People live or die now based on my skill. This isn’t some fairy tale like we used to read when we were kids - where I whisk you off and we live happily ever after. The cold reality is that everyday I risk my life and see those around me get eaten by titans. I had to let you go. It’s easier….if I’m not attached to anyone.” Levi sighs, then turns to walk towards the window. “You got your answer. You should leave now.”
The coldness in his voice is like a knife to your heart. This can’t be the same man you spent countless nights with, dreaming of freedom and escape. The man who defended and took care of you all those years. You know you shouldn’t be here and that you should turn around and walk through that door, get married to Lars, and never see this man’s face again. But you want to hurt him the way he hurt you.
“You’re a coward, Levi.”
It takes him only a few seconds, and he’s standing right in front of you, the frustration growing in his eyes. “What did you just call me?”
“You are afraid to make any real connections to anyone. Afraid they’re going to leave you. Yes, we live in a shitty world where people leave and betray us, maybe even die. But through it all, we had each other. I gave you my whole heart, but that wasn’t enough for you.” Tears start welling up in your eyes. “Did you ever even have feelings for me? Or are you a liar as well as a coward?”
Levi grabs the back of your neck hard. “I am no coward.” His grip on your neck becomes tighter. Your pulse quickens at his touch and you can hear his breathing getting heavier. “I loved you then.”
He pulls you in closer and he can’t hold it in any longer. “I love you still.”
Your lips crash together with desperation and you feel him pushing you backwards towards the desk. When his mouth starts moving to your neck, you finally object. “Levi, we shouldn’t do-“
“I’m not concerned anymore with what we should or shouldn’t do. In this moment, in this room, you’re mine,” his low voice whispers in your ear.
For years, you’ve ached for his voice, for his touch, and you know you can’t resist him. Levi starts unbuttoning your blouse as he continues to kiss on your neck. “I won’t leave any marks.” He pulls your blouse down off of your shoulders as he kisses you clavicle, his hands moving to your back to take off your bra.
As your bra falls to the ground, he stops to gaze at you. He says nothing - he doesn’t need to. You can see the desire in his eyes.
You pull him into you and he kisses your soft breasts, gently at first, but his kisses become harder as his eagerness for your body grows. You lean back slightly on the desk and let him kiss you all over. His hand starts lifting your skirt to find your bare thigh, slowly moving up until he’s touching you over your underwear. Your body reacts to his touch.
“Oh Lev~” you stammer, as his hand slips under the thin fabric. His touch sends shivers down your spine and you breath hitches. After all this time, he still remembers exactly what makes you feel good. He continues kissing your breasts and touching you as you moan in pleasure
His fingers move faster and your heart races. You’d forgotten how good it feels to be touched, to be desired by this man.
“Levi, I want you,” you say breathlessly. He lifts you up and takes you to the sofa. Standing over you, he begins to unbutton his crisp, white shirt. You grab the waistband of his pants and he positions himself above you.
His naked chest is like a long lost map newly recovered, so familiar yet foreign. There were new landmarks: a long, deep scar across his chiseled chest, a gouge on his right side, permanent marks from the ODM gear. You kissed each one, memorizing them as he lays you down.
Suddenly, there’s voices in the corridor. You both listen attentively as they fade away into another room. “We don’t have much time,” Levi says, still alert for any other noises.
You undo his pants and see the bulge in his underwear. He looks down at you and for the first time, he looks vulnerable, as if you have broken down all his defenses. He wants this as much as you do. So many nights he lay awake thinking of your smile, your body underneath his. And now, for one fleeting moment, he can have you again.
You move his underwear down and he positions himself on top of you. “You’re sure?” he asks gently. “Yes, Levi, please,” you respond, and with that, he lifts up your skirt. You feel his girth as it works its way inside you. He starts slow, then begins to pick up the pace, your head caged in by his arms as he kisses you passionately. You want him even closer to you, so you hug his chest into yours, as if you're afraid he’s going to disappear at any moment. You can feel his heart racing and his chest expanding; not an apparition, but flesh and blood. Neither of you say the words you want to say to each other. The only sounds in the room are your deep breaths and the sound of skin thrusting into skin.
Levi is so in tune with you and without a word can see you’re ready to climax. He reaches down to touch you and his thrusts become deeper. Suddenly your body is drowned in pleasure, as if a wave has crashed over you. You give into the wave as it transports you out of this place and time; a place where you and he made it above ground, together. Your hand shakes as it cups his cheek. It doesn’t take long after that for Levi to find his own end and he releases on your stomach.
You both lie on opposite ends of the sofa, in various stages of undress, unable to look at each other. Levi finally breaks the silence. “I was an asshole to not look for you, at the very least to explain myself. But I’ve chosen something here that is bigger than me, and I’ve got to see it through to the end.”
“Levi, I…”
You want to take his head in your hands and tell him you forgive him for everything. That a part of you will always love him, no matter how much he hurt you or how far away he’ll be. But what good would any of those words do, for either of you? You decide to lock your feelings away, deep in your heart. Some things are better left unsaid.
“This won’t happen again,” you say as you button up your blouse.
“I know,” he replies, pulling on his pants. “It’s better this way. For both of us.”
You refuse to let him see the tears running down your cheeks, so you keep your back to him as you walk to the door.
“Lars is a good man. He’ll take care of you.”
Wiping the tears from your cheeks, you decide to face him. There’s a vulnerability in his eyes that tells you he’s being sincere, but there’s something else: a look that tells you this is truly the end.
“You’re a good man, too. I hope someday you’ll see that.” You open the door, leaving the woman you once were and the man you once loved behind, to step into your new future.
Entanglement ch 4
levi x reader
summary: Levi is so downbad for y/n!
cw: low key angst at the end, cussing, bad grammar lol, etc
a/n: sorry for the late update, midterm season is rough! I hope y’all enjoy
read below the cut
previous — next
“You’re still working for him?” Levi questioned you as more of his companions filed back into the living room.
“He pays good, I don’t have a choice.” You removed yourself from his grip and then headed towards the front door. “I have to buy more food since I didn’t expect you all to be here. I’ll be back later,” With that you walked out the front door. A moment passed before Levi turned to head to the kitchen table. The rest of the squad continued to set up camp and get comfortable. “Captain who is she?” Eren asked cirquously. “I mean we are in her house and these pictures-”
“Shut it Eren.” Levi growled before moving into the kitchen, surprised to find his favorite tea in your cabinet. As he brewed the tea, he could hear his squad theorize about you and your relationship to Levi. He rolled his eyes before the door opened and you walked in. The “groceries” in your hands seemed like much more than he could remember ever being brought in by you in the past. You placed them on the counter top and wordlessly put them away. Levi looked at your bags and instantly recognized the soup you planned to make.
“How can you afford bacon?”He asked quietly.
“I’m a valuable asset to Conrad.” You muttered back to him. Soon the both of you cooked the dinner just as you had in the past. Closing your eyes for a second, you could almost feel the presence of Isabel and Farlan. You could almost feel the ghost of Levi’s arms around you…
Soon you set out everyone’s food and called them to dinner. Levi’s squad hesitantly took the food but only ate after seeing Levi start his own plate. The soup was probably the best food they ever had. After a silent dinner, the squad took it upon themselves to clean up and start watch shifts. You and Levi had decided to return to your old room.
Levi shut the door behind you as you sat at your makeshift vanity. Grabbing a brush, you began your process to get ready for bed. Wordlessly Levi sat on the bed watching you, a flood of memories hit him like a bag of bricks
---
Levi sat on the bed in only his sleep pants, you in his sleep shirt. The room was only lit by a singular oil lamp near your vanity. He got up and grabbed the brush out of your hands. He began to brush your hair out as you started to remove the little makeup you could afford. Humming a soft melody in the process.
“When we live above around, I’ll be able to wear more than just this lipstick and this mascara. Won’t I?” Levi hummed in agreement before placing a kiss to the top of your head.
“I don’t like that you work in that horrible place.”
“I know, but at this rate I’ll afford citizenship for all of us! Soon it’ll all be over.” You turned to face him and held his hand tenderly.
---
“Why didn’t you get your citizenship?” Levi asked after a while.
“After I was told you all had died, I didn’t find a reason for it anymore. I was wanted here, not up there.” You said softly, turning to face him again. “Why did you leave me here?”
Levi was silent for a second. “When I heard you died, I lost all hope. I couldn’t even force myself to look… it was better to be ignorant than face to truth.” He turned his head to face you when there was a knock at your door. Levi got up to open it and saw Armin followed by Hange and Erwin.
“We might have gotten a lead”
Not again. You groaned, clutching your stomach in agony. Your stomach grumbled in defiance as another wave of gastric pain took over you. Begrudgingly, you got out of bed and dragged yourself to the kitchen to make yourself a simple meal. Hot soup and bread sounded fantastic right now, and your stomach grumbled again.
Tiptoeing your way to the kitchen, you lit a few candles and tried to look for some ingredients to cook yourself a bowl of soup. It was pretty late, and you hoped you didn't wake anyone up with the noise and light.
"Oi, what are you doing?" You heard a familiar voice and your head whipped to the back. Your lover was standing by the entrance of the kitchen holding a teapot and tea cup in his hands. "Why are you still up?" You let you a little squeak.
"O-oh, um, it's n-nothing. I was just going to cook myself some soup..." you replied sheepishly. You quickly looked through the cupboards and took out some carrots, potatoes, and leeks. There wasn't much, but it was good enough to make yourself something decent. Levi watched you fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil. You were washing the vegetables when your stomach grumbled loudly again and Levi saw you wince. Levi came over to stop you.
"Sit," Levi said while you gave him a look of confusion, "I'll do it." Listening to your lover, you took a seat by the small dining table, watching Levi wash and slice the vegetables. The rhythmic sound of Levi's chopping and the soft bubbling of the pot of water was somehow comforting your queasy stomach.
"Didn't know you knew how to cook, Levi." You commented, now watching Levi as he threw all the vegetables into the pot to boil.
"I used to do it a lot back in the Und—" Levi paused for a while and you understood what he meant, "food was hard to find there, so whenever we found anything that can be eaten, we would throw them all in a pot and make a stew. It would last us for days without going hungry." Levi continued without looking at you. You knew he was thinking of Farlan and Isabel, and you felt a pang in your chest. Silence soon filled the tiny kitchen while Levi took a seat beside you. He poured you a cup of tea as well to ease your gastric pains.
"Didn't you eat dinner earlier?"
"Uh, y-yeah, I did. But maybe I'm just extra hungry tonight. You know... sometimes it happens." Levi hummed and sipped his tea without a word. The fragrant smell of leeks started to fill the kitchen, and Levi served you a bowl of piping hot soup. You gratefully took the bowl from Levi, taking a long whiff. It smelt amazing and you couldn't wait to dig in.
"Thank you, Levi," you smiled while Levi just shrugged, "don't you want to have some too?" Levi shook his head and continued sipping his tea. You looked down at your bowl and took a sip of soup. Maybe this was bringing back painful memories. You quickly drank your soup. Levi glanced at your direction.
"You know what," he muttered and stood up, "maybe I will." Levi came back later with a bowl of soup as well, sitting next to you while silently enjoying his soup. You looked down at your bowl again, but this time, a small smile appeared on your face. The soup Levi made was delicious, and you helped yourself to seconds and thirds. Levi helped to wash the cutlery and utensils, and he wiped the counter and table as well. The both of you left the kitchen and he walked you back to your room.
"Thanks for cooking for me, Levi," you thanked him again when you were at your doorstep, "I really appreciate it, espe—"
"Shh. It's fine. Now go back to sleep. Training starts in four hours." Levi hushed you without another word. Levi reached out his hand and softly ruffled your hair. "Good night, y/n." He whispered before walking in the opposite direction back to his office. Looking at his retreating figure, you smiled and decided that you were going to make Levi a bowl of stew next time.
Words of affirmation
"Ahhhh!" you winced as Levi hit another sore spot, "y-yes, oh! Yes... right there, Levi," furrowing your brows, Levi continued massaging your shoulders while you laid prone on Levi's bed, feeling the sores and aches overwhelming you. As you let out another grimace, you muttered begrudgingly into his pillow. "You meanie, you really didn't cut us some slack while training huh?"
"Be glad I only made you all do strength conditioning exercises today. Hange and Mike made their squads run 10 laps on top of all those exercises," Levi continued without a pause, moving his hands down your back to massage your glutes, "I don't hear the rest of my squad complaining, so I don't see why you should."
Using his knuckles to press deep into your glutes, you let out another painful moan again, clutching Levi's pillow tighter. You knew the next expedition was coming up, and there was no way Levi or the other Section Commanders would slacken during training. The stronger everyone becomes, the higher the chances of survival, and the more likely everyone will make it back after. Yet, today's physical training seemed to take a huge toll on your body, and you were feeling the aches from doing all those pullups, planks, and sit ups. Perhaps it was the lack of proper sleep, or maybe because you skipped breakfast today (you didn't tell Levi, of course). Or maybe you didn't stretch enough before doing those exercises, or you didn't cool down properly.
"You did really good today, by the way," Levi uttered while massaging your calves, "you managed to do more compared to last week, and your form was a lot better than before." You whipped your head to the back so quickly you thought you might have sprained it.
"Levi? Did I hear you wrongly?"
"... what?"
"You said I did 'really good today'. Not just good. But really good." You gawked as Levi let out a cough, walking to the other side of his office to grab a glass of water. Sitting back down on the bed, Levi was avoiding your eye. You pushed yourself upwards and huddled close to Levi, poking him playfully in the ribs. Levi kept trying to avoid your fingers.
"Did you just praise me, Levi?" Your eyes were practically shooting hearts out of their sockets. You knew Levi was the perfect epitome of 'tough love' and he hardly praised anyone, not even you. You didn't really mind though, not everyone is capable of singing praises anyway. Levi still refused to look you straight in the eye, as though he just realised what he said, and was pretending he didn't say anything earlier.
"Oh come on, Levi, you did praise me! Just admit it already," you laughed, hugging his midsection tightly, "say it again, won't you? Please?"
"No."
"Pretty please? Aww, say it, 'you did really good today', it's not that hard."
"I don't like repeating myself." Levi took another sip of water, avoiding your eye again. You refused to back down though, and you took the glass of water out of Levi's grip, surprising him enough to push him down on the mattress. Yet, he still didn't want to look at you.
"I wanna hear it again." You gave Levi a soft smile, letting him know that you weren't going to tease him again. Levi finally turned his head towards you and locked eyes with yours, his grey eyes staring deep into yours.
"You did really good today, y/n, I'm proud of you." Gingerly, Levi reached his hand upwards and gave you an awkward pat on the cheek, smiling hesitantly. You suddenly felt fireworks erupting in your heart, and you kissed Levi swiftly on the lips.
"Thank you," sitting upwards, you pulled Levi up as well, giving him another hug. Levi didn't know what were you thanking him for, but the both of you just remained on the bed in silence, hearing the fireplace cackle a distant away. You released Levi from the hug and looked at him cheekily, "now say it again." You tried your luck, only to feel Levi flick your forehead.
"No."
Quality time
It was a rare off day for the Survey Corps, and you didn't know what to do with your free time. Your boots were polished, your uniforms were washed, and even your horse was cleaned, groomed, and fed. You went to look for your fellow Squad members, but you remembered that they all had plans. Petra and Eld were going back home to visit their families while Oruo and Gunther were out doing errands for Levi.
You decided to find Levi in his office, and you weren't surprised to see his office door wide open. Levi would do that when the weather got too hot, and when he knew no one would be around. Standing by the door, you weren't surprised as well to see him buried nose-deep into his work.
"Why are you working, it's our off day," you frowned as you walked into his office uninvited. Levi briefly looked up from his work to acknowledge your presence before he continued writing again.
"I have off days, but my reports don't," he simply said, rubbing his eyes wearily. Levi looked over to his tea cup and was dismayed to find it already empty.
"Leave it. Let's go out. You can afford to take a day off, Levi." You knew he was about to go get himself another refill, but you were not letting it happen. Off days were meant to be for resting and relaxing, not to finish up work. "C'mon, let's go out. It's a nice day."
Levi rubbed his eyes again and looked at you. He let out a small sigh before giving you the 'okay'. You gleefully dragged Levi out of his seat and made sure he changed his clothes before the both of you left the Headquarters.
Levi and you went to the centre of town today. The town square was bustling with people, families bringing their children out, people doing their errands, and children playing with their friends. Levi asked if you has any place you wanted to go, and you pulled him into a bakery.
The fragrance of freshly baked bread lured you over, and you excitedly stepped inside. Looking around, there were many different types of pastries and baked goods for sale, and the bakery had an area for dining as well. In the end, you settled for a butter croissant while Levi had a herbed tomato bread. The croissant was really tasty and you were tempted to get seconds. Levi promised to get some bread back for the rest when you make your way back, and you cheerfully nodded.
Strolling along the cobbled streets, you passed by a small stall where an old man was selling flowers. It wasn't even a store to begin with; he was seating at the corner of the stairs of a shophouse and he only had a sign with 'fresh flowers for sale' written on a flimsy piece of cardboard.
"Oh, look, Levi. Flowers! Let's go see them," before he could respond, Levi was dragged to the stall by you. "Your office could do with some colour." You added while Levi shrugged.
The old man didn't have much variety of flowers, but there were pretty. In the end, you bought a pot of begonias with Levi's nod of approval. You excitedly told Levi you were going to check on this plant every week to make sure he was taking care of them well, while Levi just pat your head affectionately.
You and Levi strolled along the town square, occasionally meeting a few familiar faces. The both of you spent the remainder of the afternoon looking at the different stalls selling different products and trinkets, and you two had a nice quiet time together alone as well, one where you two wouldn't be interrupted.
As the sun began to set, Levi kept his promise and walked you to the bakery where you got pastries for the rest of the Squad. You both made your way towards Headquarters.
"Thanks for coming out with me today, Levi, even though you had work to do." You smiled as you placed the pot of begonias near his desk where the plant would get a nice amount of sunlight. The vibrant colour of the flowers did add a nice touch to Levi's bare office.
"Mm. It was nice spending time together like this." Levi admitted as he watched you arrange the pot. You kissed him on the cheek before excusing yourself, wanting to share the pastries with the rest. Levi took his seat by the desk and stared at the pile of paper. It would have been done by now if he didn't go out earlier. But as he recalled your happy face, the pile of work suddenly didn't seem as significant anymore. Seeing your smile and spending time with you was more important. With a shake of his head, Levi started working on his papers with a slight smile on his face.
Gifting
Today's training was once more as bad as ever again, with long arduous hours of training under the sun, practising and perfecting your skills on the ODMG, and sparring and physical conditioning with your fellow Levi Squad mates.
Even though you and Levi were a couple, he wasn't going easy on you as well. In fact, he would give you extra sets and training, because he wanted you to be better than the rest so that you can come home safely to him after every expedition. You didn't blame Levi for his harshness, because you knew he meant you well. After the day's training, Levi dismissed the squad for their break before dinner. Levi and you had a small chat before he had to go back to his office to settle some work.
"I'll see you for dinner," he whispered into your ear before leaving for his office. You nodded, and headed back to your bunk as well. Upon entering, you saw a small package on your bed. You walked over curiously, wondering who gave it to you, and what the package was.
The package felt a little heavy when you carried it, and there was a handwritten note on it as well. Your heart leaped when you recognised the familiar handwriting.
'It's nothing much, but I hope you use them well.' was written in a slightly slanted and thin penmanship. You recognised Levi's handwriting, and you wondered what was inside the package. You excitedly ripped the brown paper, and inside was a box. Opening it, there were a few items.
Levi got you a few sachets of chamomile tea and lavender tea (where did he get it from? Floral teas were expensive) as well as a new teapot, saucer and tea cup. There was also a bottle of ointment, a heating pack which doubles as a cold compress, some fragrance pouches, and also a few boxes of cookies (where did he get this from as well?). There was another note at the bottom of the box, and you took it out.
'I know I've been working you too hard recently, so here's a bottle of ointment for you to use when your muscles are aching. Throw the heat pack into hot water if you need it, or throw it into ice and use it cold.' the note read. You opened the bottle and took a whiff. It smelt a little minty and warm. You rubbed your shoulders and you couldn't wait to use it tonight after your shower (maybe you can get Levi to do it for you). Closing the bottle, you continued reading the note.
'I heard from Gunther that you've been sneaking to the kitchen in the middle of the night. Here are some cookies and tea in case you get hungry. You should be able to sleep better. And if it isn't working, put one fragrance pouch in your pillow case.' the note continued. Opening the box of cookies, there was an assortment of butter, chocolate, and sugar cookies. The fragrance pouches smelt like sandalwood and rose, and you felt your heart warm up.
'Let me know if you need anything else, and I'll get it for you. And no, I'm not getting you chocolates and sweets. — Levi.'
Flipping to the back of the note, there was a little postscript written as well.
'If you can't sleep at night, come to my room.' was all it said. You felt your cheeks heat up, and you felt a rush of appreciation for Levi. Chuckling to yourself, you quickly kept the contents inside the box and happily took your shower, looking forward to dinner and seeing your lover.
Physical touch
Levi wasn't one to show physical affection—no one in the Survey Corps could ever imagine the stoic and rigid Captain Levi showing any hints of physical affection to anyone. Yet, unbeknownst to others, was a softer side of Levi that you know no one else could see, except for you.
It was common knowledge that you were dating Levi, and it was also not rare for you to stay over in Levi's office sometimes. Somehow his bed just seemed more comfortable than yours, and you always fall asleep within seconds of lying down on his pillow. Was it the faint scent of tea lingering in the air? Or was it the fact that Levi's office was on a higher floor so it was colder?
Yet, tonight seemed a little different. You weren't sure what the reason was, but you just couldn't fall asleep. No matter how you tossed and turned, or counted sheep in your head, you weren't sleepy at all. Should I? You thought to yourself. In the end, you wore a sweater and walked to Levi's office, not surprised when you saw some light coming from the inside. You knocked thrice before entering.
"Something wrong?" Levi asked without looking up from his stack of papers. Levi had a feeling it was you visiting, because no one in the right mind would dare to visit him at such an ungodly timing. Levi looked up and saw you dragging your feet into his office.
"I can't sleep..." your voice droned off as you sat down on Levi's bed. Somehow, being in his office just made you comfortable. "I'm just going to lie down here, yeah? You can carry on with your work, I don't mind the candles." You pulled the blankets higher and let out a sigh, closing your eyes and trying your best to fall asleep. Unlike your insomniac lover, you needed your rest, and not getting them made you cranky and sick.
Levi looked at you covering your eyes with your forearm trying to sleep. Looking back at his stack of paper, he sighed before extinguishing the candles in his office. After a while, you felt a dip next to you, and you could smell Levi's familiar scent. Levi pulled you into his chest, letting you lie on his arm.
"Don't you have work to do?" You muttered through closed eyes, feeling your heart thumping louder.
"I can't work with you here, anyway. Plus,"—Levi faked a yawn—"I'm sleepy." You sniggered, knowing Levi was just acting. Levi laced an arm around your midsection, slowly tapping your back.
"Mmm, feels good, Levi..." ahhh, Levi's warmth, Levi's scent, and Levi's comforting touch. You could feel yourself getting a little sleepy already. Wordlessly, Levi pulled you even closer to him, hugging you tight. You could feel his breath on your skin and hear his heart beating. "Levi, I—"
"Shhh," Levi muttered softly as he continued to pat your back, "go to sleep. I'm here." Levi pressed a fleeting kiss to your forehead. It felt like it was barely there, yet you knew you weren't imagining things. You closed your eyes and smiled, relaxing into Levi's warm embrace. It was only then when you understood that the reason why you always slept better in Levi's room, was because Levi was by your side.
Pair: Levi x Reader
Warnings: This series is going to be contain with fluff. Too much fluff. And smut. With mentions of discomfort, but with hope and comfort. Inspired by the Titanic movie. MDNI, NSFW
A/N: Hello. I hope you’re doing okay today. Don’t worry, I’m still writing this series—representing Levi Ackerman. And I hope you don’t mind a long chapter. The chapter title of David and Goliath is somewhat a parallel to Levi = David, and Zeke = Goliath. The thing is, Levi defeated Zeke so many times, and he’s popular among ladies ;). And somehow the chapter title came to me when I was having a hard time on what to name the new chapter, so I apologize for taking so long.
(Please report if anyone decides to steal/plagiarize my work and notify me. Thank you.)
Chapter IV
David and Goliath
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
The rage thunder and swashing sea goes on.
Inside the Goliath ship was still hell on earth—boiling heat like a golden desert.
Levi Ackerman felt like he was going to catch a cold, so he quickly exited without giving you so much of a goodbye, but an assurance of seeing you again. Levi never, not once, nor indirectly, breaks promises. Promises are meant to be kept.
Ironically, Levi felt safe inside. His cold hasn’t materialized; the humidity in the rocking ship has made him well. Shaking it off, Levi strolled down the gold and beige marble walls. The agility in his footsteps were very light. Composed and sophisticated, and somehow intimidating. His footsteps are light that are goes unnoticed by rich folks.
Someone whistled behind him. “And here I thought you’re just a stone-cold man,” a voice said behind Levi.
He turned and saw his friend, Furlan Church, with his blondish hair color and sprightly looking face Levi never forgets. After their first mission together in Paradis, Furlan decided to work inside the Walls, preferably paperwork. Isabel, on the other hand, she insisted on being the healer to the Scout Regiment. They survived from the abnormal Titan.
Levi gave a usual deadpan look in his eyes. He’d be sure he’d lost Furlan, but luckily, Furlan decided to back out and work elsewhere in the unit at Scout Regiment. Farlan’s abilities are too novice apart from Levi’s masterful skill, despite being thieves. With a small grin plastered on Levi’s sickly face, he approached Farlan with ease.
“Getting bored in the Goliath?” he replied.
“No,” Furlan said, smirking. “I’m just making sure I’m here at the right place at a right time.”
Levi leaned against the pillar. “For what? Did you steal someone’s money again?”
“No, but I caught an interesting view of you and a lovely lady over by the ship railing,” Furlan said with brows wiggling.
Levi scoffed as he shoved Farlan lightly back. “Fuck off.”
“So who’s the lucky lady?”
Levi looked behind at the empty halls, recalling back to your first meet. “She’s…she’s…”
Furlan anticipated in a way Levi couldn’t stand. “She’s…?”
Levi sighed, shutting his eyes. “She’s…in the verge of needing assistance.”
Furlan’s brows raised. “No…”
Levi said nothing.
“Right in the middle of thunder and rainfall?”
Levi said nothing again.
“I see…Well, you certainly help the girl with your persuasive skills,” Furlan said, wiggling his brows.
Levi shrugged.
“Perhaps you’ll do other ways of persuasion,” Furlan continued.
Levi separated himself from the pillar and this time, he gazed at Furlan with a far and forlorn look in his greyish-blue eyes. “No one was helping her.”
Furlan shrugged. “I can see that. Still, we’ve trespass the first-class territory.”
“Blending in like one is already a pain,” Levi added. “Then again, this is how we usually do in order to get food and shelter underground.”
Furlan cackled, smacking at the back of Levi’s shoulder. “Damn, right! But then…”
Levi’s brow flicked. “Then, what?”
Furlan swallowed. “You’re going to see her again, aren’t you? A lovely lady like her can’t stay around forever. I aimed that rich man’s leg for you to slip and hit Zeke’s leg.”
Grimaced, Levi shrugged it off, as if the news didn’t affect him. During the moment of thunder and sea, he knew his world would soon divulge with yours, divulge in secrets you both never tell, or collided into two paths altogether that never meant to be as a good one. Regardless, Levi will continue on seeing you. But dealing with the Yeager brothers was too much for him to bear. Though it doesn’t mean he’ll stop from gaining interactions with you.
He will see you again, as he promised. He doesn’t like breaking promises, especially those around him.
“Better save your lady again before His Majesty sweeps her up,” Furlan advised with a grim look in his eyes.
Only Levi acknowledged it. “Fine, but find out regarding the Yeager brothers, especially that older woman who was with Miss O’Connell—her mother. I was with that brat during the invasion in Marley—we resided at the O’Connell estate. The last time I saw Mr. O’Connell, he was healthy.”
“Have you met the young lady you rescued with your knight in shining armor attire?”
Levi shook his head. “Never. Her father did mention a few times, but the mother insisted on not to bring up (y/n)’s name,” he answered.
“Why? She’s their prestigious daughter.”
“To her mother, (y/n)’s nothing but a porcelain doll and a seed maker into her belly.”
“If only the Titans exist again,” Furlan commented.
“Find out for me.”
“Will do, boss,” Furlan complied.
Then they parted in separate ways.
~~~
Raindrops dripped at the marbled floor when you stride into the staircase. Carefully, your shoes clicked upon the steps as your hand held onto the railing. It was quite easy once you got the hang of things. Normally, anyone without someone supervising you, you’d end up getting scolded. Thus, hating yourself. Hence why you made consequential choices that don’t matter anymore. You’re not immortal, so why waste on perfecting your life story?
As soon as you took the last step above the staircase, you immediately fled into the hall without so much of a packed crowd. You prayed your mother won’t catch you and drag you by the arm clutching around the grip like a permanent pinch.
Exhaling a sigh of relief, you managed to sneak past. That is until a certain hand caught you and trapped you against the wall.
Your eyes soon met Eren’s.
“What the hell is this,” you uttered, though gentle and benign.
Eren studied you closely. “You may fool my brother, but you cannot fool me. I know the eyes of a traitor when I see one.”
You choked to a nervous laughter. “We’re about to become sibling-in-laws soon,” you remarked without your eyes faltering. “I thought you’d give me a proper welcome by extending an invitation for a hug or a peck on a cheek or give an encouraging advice.”
“I’m no protector. I’m just a machine, designed to kill and coerced others to do the bidding of my masterful work.”
Tears prickled at the inner corners of your eyes. “Then kill me.”
His gaze hardened. “No, you’re about to become the next queen of the Fritz line,” Eren replied coldly. “Do as what Zeke asked of you to do. Otherwise, you’ll lose your privileges and privacy permanently. Do I make myself clear, Marleyan?”
Your eyes went foggy with hot tears. Though, through sheer luck, you managed to pull a sweet smile. “Whatever you say…Eren.”
Within two minutes, Eren stared before retrieving himself away for inches of space. “Obey him, and be silent. No harm will come to you if you smile a lot more everyday, even through pain and suffering, you must laugh. Whatever Zeke’s feeling, stay silent and be a good useful woman to his desires.” Then disappeared from her sight, leaving her breathless and speechless with tears shedding against the drenched rain on your face.
~~~
The music box chimed her quiet room after her servant and friend, Prudence, cleaned up your suite room. Another cage you’re trapped in. If only your father gave you an advice on how to deal with your mother and Zeke.
Music soothed you aside from drinking tea with milk or any beverage that suits to your necessity. Outside looking in, everything is perfect. But inside looking in, everything was a horrid as a rotten corpse hanging in between closet. There was never a dull moment for the rich, except it is dull, for those who aren’t in the same category as you. How typical it must be when your mother decided to praise Zeke through. But constantly clenches her teeth every time she speaks to you. Clench teeth and wide threatening eyes and a harsh tone underneath an old widow’s smile.
You just want to be at the railing again. But seeing upon the result of Levi rescuing you, your life gave you a second chance to reclaim what’s right for you. Almost as if a living spirit guided you back to the light once more.
A booming knock came.
Poking out from the doorway, Zeke greeted you with a bright smile. “There’s my little starlight.”
Your stomach nearly lurched at the chosen nickname.
“I thought I heard a lullaby,” Zeke said.
“Good evening, Your Majesty,” you said, bowing while sitting in place with a mirror in front of you, viewing him at the reflection in a span of seconds instead of turning around.
“Now, now, there’s no need to be so formal,” he said, closing the door. “We’re soon-to-be wedded couple, and as couple, I’d like to state my apologies for not attending to you. As a king, I need to tend to my people first. Even the Goliath itself. We can’t make mistakes on moving past the glaciers at this night.”
Though he’s speaking, your mind wandered off to an important event that made you feel alive again, as Zeke continued his discussion regarding to the issues they relay against you, you wanted nothing more but to jump off the ship. But with Levi’s immaculate timing and persuasion. It took a while, but Levi managed to pull you back up when everyone kept pushing you down like a beaten animal. Whenever you refused to do their bidding or work, your mother and others would try their ways to sabotage the life you’re trying to built—even your self-esteem, telling you with their statements by calling you an Eldian restorationist, or a Paradis Devil, each time you convey and projected your individuality and feelings and ideals, none took it seriously, and if they do, they would say it in a sincere way, but added a statement simply following by: “I’m just joking; I never took you seriously. I was only being sarcastic so that you could shut your mouth.”
Even if you chose not to speak—out of sight, out of mind—they demanded answer from you with fury and pettiness.
“Are you listening, (y/n)?” Zeke’s voice deafeaned.
Snapping out of trance, your cold began to itch in your throat and nose, letting out a guttural cough.
Zeke made no reaction when you got caught with a hefty flu. He stood and watch as you grabbed the steaming tea cup beside you. Hastily, you swallowed the black tea and consumed the pastries left by Prudence. Prudence saw you at a tragic state, so she provided you with heat by the fireplace and warmth clothing—a better robe and slippers. You hair all drenched but pampered up in a towel. It nearly took ages for your soaked hair to dry up, so you stayed at the vanity set filled with mahogany and gold embroidery. Your silver hairbrush was casted aside when Zeke came to you and sat, hopped over at the corner of your vanity mirror.
“Whatever I said today, I do apologize,” Zeke resumed. “I was hoping you’d come to your senses, and maybe even more. Since I’m here, there’s no point on turning back now. Originally, you and I are supposed to be at a private dinner at the balcony, viewing the ocean after our meeting at the grand lobby. But I decided to give you this instead, if you allow me.”
You didn’t bother to glance. You’re sleepy at the moment; with your eyes withering away to sleep, you hoped to see peace, you hoped to see Levi in your dreams.
“(y/n),” Zeke demanded, slamming his flat hand against the vanity table.
Before you could snap out of trance, his hand snapped and strangled your throat in one swoop and lifted you off a couple of inches in the air.
“Zeke,” you gasped, clutching your hands onto his, gripping your neck too tightly. Veins protruded on your temple, coughing. The tea cup beside you fell on a carpet floor.
Before getting up to bed, his hand snapped onto your throat, lifting you inches off the ground. Choking, your hands instinctively clasped to Zeke’s hand from strangling you. “Zeke,” you said, chucking a little spit out from his strangle. “Zeke,” you uttered again.
“Pay attention to the words next time, so I won’t leave a scratch on you,” he warned.
“Scratch?” you uttered in disbelief. “Seems you haven’t lost your touch to war. Honestly, I should’ve expect this from a stupid monkey.”
His nails dug in deeper against your voice box. “Don’t worry, I still have the status as a Warchief. I’d do more than just strangling you. I was planning to give you a gift, but you’re so disinterested in it. And right now, you’re being insincere.”
The spit on your cough splattered his nose bridge. The Zeke you used to familiar with has glasses and a beard. Right now the Zeke presented before you is beardless and lens-free, appearing the same age as you, although the exception, he’s more beastly than his Titan form, filled with grueling and malice.
“The next time you disregard my words or disrespect your beloved mother—I’ll make sure to throw you off from Goliath and let the sea creatures feast on your lively corpse.”
The lungs in your chest blocked you, suffocating you to a point of no air, and your head feels as if it’s about to pop.
“Is that clear?” Zeke uttered in a friendly tone, making sure the people beside them through the walls won’t able to eavesdrop the conversation.
Hesitantly, you nodded, leaving Zeke loosened his grasp from your neck and dropped you on the floor without care. Without looking back, Zeke slammed the door. Your heart uneases when his footsteps went from quiet to loud, stomping.
Did Eren do something for Zeke to lash out on me?
Unknowing what the answer is, you kept yourself quiet until you fell asleep with your teary eyes.
I never wanted this.
I never wanted this, at all.
~~~
Under a golden daylight, Levi met his friend Furlan after a long breakfast. By long breakfast, it meant that the people in the third class took forever to gather their meals and beverage at the line. But he can’t complain since the days after the Rumbling, people are excited to see what’s left—mundane—in the land and sea. Everyone is convinced with Zeke’s prosperity and proposal, but what pack substance is that Levi is unconcerned and unconvinced by Zeke’s “moral” compass to humanity. Building the largest and grandest ship was nothing new but it gave new elements for the people to be distracted from. Still the raising conspiracy of suspicions lurked Levi at every corner.
Today’s breakfast, one that Levi and Furlan chose, are vastly different. While Furlan have honey-stacked pancakes with sprinkled sugar powder, thick syrup and silky sweet butter, three round patty sausages, and a cup of cold, fresh milk, Levi have the usual black tea and an apple, a small bowl of light soup of mushroom cream, and small piece of baguette for breakfast. He didn’t want anything heavy in the morning, considering how he didn’t want to have seasickness like the other passengers on board.
“Ah, that was a good breakfast,” Furlan said with a stretch, arms high above his head. “You could get anything in the ship, and you chose to have the ordinary breakfast—ones that you’ve already tried.”
“I was too damn tired from that night,” Levi said. “Goliath wasn’t tempting enough to rouse my curiosity.”
“But a certain someone did,” Furlan replied, wiggling his brows, nudging Levi by the elbow. “Say, when are you going to see her again?”
Levi shrugged. “I haven’t got a clue, but, I’ll do my damndest to find her around this stupid boat, even if it means being tossed into the ocean.”
“Ah, you can be dreamy at times,” Furlan said.
Levi smoothed the paper from eraser crumbs. “What about Isabel?”
“She’d get jealous if she finds out we’re on a grandest ship. But I think it’s a good thing she didn’t go. She’d get seasick; she wouldn’t able to eat or drink well right next to people who are seasick.”
“Believe me, with a crowd like this, there’s no way she’d survive under the constant pressure of being in a compacted room. She likes the fresh air and a wide range of space. I could say the same thing for her, as well.”
“Her?”
Levi’s back slumped and traced the line over again after messing it up for the second time. With a shaded location, he couldn’t see his mistakes in his drawing well, using a pencil stump to blend the dark etches, forming it like shadow casted on a person’s face.
“Seems like you’ve been drawing lately,” Furlan complimented.
“I have to, thanks to my personal therapist.”
“You don’t sound grateful.”
“Quite the opposite, actually.”
“Would you mind give my darling a best portrait of her? I promise I’ll pay you.”
“Since when do you have a darling?”
“Last night.”
“I don’t do negotiations,” Levi answered.
“Come on, for your long time pal.” Furlan clasped his arm around Levi’s shoulders.
“I don’t think so,” Levi declined. Before he could register a profound laughter, a shimmering violet dress had caught his eye. While everyone on the third class were in dark warm clothing, the woman who came by had a vibrancy glowing around her. In a violet dress with white bishop sleeves. On her violet dress, it’s covered with embroidered butterflies and flowers protruded from the neckline to the waist of her dress. Her hair is long and neat, unlike that night where it was disheveled and unruly. Her eyes were somewhat gloomy but hides with a twinkle each time she greets the third class passengers.
“Who’s that, darling?” the woman beside Furlan asked.
“Well, what do you know, it’s Levi’s girlfriend!” Furlan said, but got elbowed by Levi.
Your eyes darted to him. A once sullen tone shifted to a relief. You strode by over him, which he propped himself up with a cane stick and greeted you with a faint smile.
“Hello, Levi,” you said.
“H-Hi,” Levi uttered in gentle manner, which Furlan stifled a laughter.
“How was your morning?”
“Good—very good.”
“I was hoping you’d like to take a leisure stroll with me…in private.”
In a moment, Levi’s tranquil face flushed with redness, though Levi’s usual deadpan expression was still there, it’s only his eyes are in a different set of mood.
His hand extended to you. “Shall we go, Miss?”
You looked back and forth between his face then his open palm. With a smirk etched onto your sorrowful visage, you reached his palm back, entangled it, leading him upstairs at the outside air at the too deck of the Goliath ship.
~~~
Under the course of tasting the sea’s air and sunlight, needless to say, both of you are at your well-behaved manners. The etiquette of prolific society required a well-sophisticated performance—a mask beneath the real identity. None suspected of you, to which you’re glad, but you kept your head down for the most part, but with a handsome man beside you didn’t help the heat at the back underneath your fitting dress and flowing skirts and sleeves. With your long hair, you’re glad you never listen to the advice of the elderly women of what suits and doesn’t suit you. Whoever they are, they should play tea parties instead.
“It looked different compare to where I used to live,” Levi said aloud. “Whenever there’s sunlight, it’s always peaking out from the lush trees. Sometimes it never appear behind anywhere tall and humongous. Here, out on the heart of sea, it feels like the sun goes with us when sailing.”
“What do you mean, Mister Levi,” you answered, tucking your hair.
“Where I come from was different…our lives may have serve during the war, but most of us are indoor sort of way,” he clarified. “Even if we go outside, riding on our horses, taking back our lives and peace, it felt like we’re in a cage to begin with no matter how much we fought against those greedy sons of bitches.”
A giggle escaped your mouth. “I never thought of it that way since my family were always talking about how great Marley is, but all I gained was tea parties and dresses and wasteful consumptions in a duration of talk, wasteful on conversations like parties and dinner sets and dresses and secret affairs, and talking about low lives, the people who aren’t high social status. All is nothing but a bore. I just wanted something different topic to talk about. My father had the same idea, but my mom and her frivolous relatives shut us down as if we’re complete low machines to them.”
“They could talk about how great people are, but still considered as pretentious without realizing it,” he concluded.
“Exactly!” you said. “Funny they always said to me how I should serve them for the maintaining image. I’d say they’re serving themselves to serve their fragile ego, when they had nothing meaningful to say except for how much money they have. In the end, without the Titans, they still all serve for constricted peace and money. How do we live with these atrocious…things, I swear I could’ve faint at any moment, but I’m not like those oblivious, self-centered buffoons.”
Levi smirked. “You’re quite passionate since this morning.”
“The more people suffocate me, the more I became fervent of a subject, of any kind. I don’t know, everything in my life felt so small even when I gained every access. It felt like maybe I’m being an ungrateful, insincere brat.”
He shook his head. “I don’t think so. Whatever they’re thinking or what their ideas are, they only talk out of their fragile asses. Seems like all adults are—their maturity stage are still at the infant level, no matter how much knowledge they’ve gained from the social and work protocol.”
“My family, even my mother and my relatives, they never liked work. They all love to use my father’s name as a way to enter the lavish society in order to regain their reputation back,” you said with a saddened tone. “Thanks to them, I feel tied up at the moment. My…someone threatened me that if I don’t cooperate to a certain someone’s needs, they’d throw me off the ship.”
“It’s not going to happen while I’m around. Whoever you’re referring to, that blazing flame inside you in your heart, it won’t fade.”
“Will you be here with me more often?”
“I’ll set your heart with warmth, whatever it takes for you to be free as your true self around me.”
“I can fire up my own heart, even if it means burning someone’s selfish ideology on me.”
“Then I’ll give you my matchstick, even if it’s the last one. Who is it you’re engaged to, if I may ask.”
You leaned your lips against him in between his neck and ear, taking a scent of strong, velvet cologne on him. “Zeke Yeager—the last heir to the Fritz family. I hear that Fritz family are well-protected from the likes of Ackerman family, but I don’t think the Fritz family did well, since some of them are—from what I heard—are sadistic, especially the king, King Fritz, before we’re born—I’ve always hated the stupid bastard, no matter how many times they’ve told the story.”
Each time you spoke, Levi’s skin tickled at your breath. Regardless of a thought, your words inspired him to come out of his shell little by little. It is true that Ackermans’s sole purpose is to serve the Fritz family. Knowing this, knowing you hated King Fritz and Zeke Yeager, it tells Levi what he needs to know, and containing a new limelight—the judge of character, especially towards you, he immediately saw a side of you that has been pushed down for so long. One that everyone loathes on, Levi considered you to be a fine soldier in your own ways. He could imagine of your fates are like if you’re born in Paradis instead of Marley, of meeting you during the time of Survey Corps and the missions.
As you pulled back, you searched for a nearby bench to perch on. Patting on a empty side, you beckoned Levi to sit beside you.
“If I may ask, Mister Levi, why do you have a cane with you?”
Levi glanced down at his cane. “The device that used to strap onto my leg was no good. It nearly damaged the skin and my bones, so I decided to use an alternate option. Honestly, my leg wasn’t good as before, but I’d rather have this than a device that could potentially infect my bones and skin. Does it displease you, seeing me like this?”
In quiet panic, your head motioned frantically. “Not at all, Mister Levi. It’s just that, I feel rather sorry; you’re too handsome and too good for you to use a walking stick.”
His back slouched. “Not to mention short.”
“I don’t care if you’re short; even when you’re broken on the outside, you’re too good for everybody, even for me,” you said as your hands reached its way to touch his. “Whatever happened to you, you deserve to live a good life. I can only imagine a scenario, of ways on how you got your leg at disadvantage. Shall I call a doctor to inspect you? I could try to help to maintain a good physician and a physical therapist for your leg and foot to be better.”
Levi waved it off. “No need.” Watching the brightened expression off of your face, Levi felt down. “A beautiful lady before me shouldn’t give pity to someone like me.”
“I wasn’t giving pity, I was only trying to help by suggesting on how to make your health easier.”
His eyes closed, smiling ear-to-ear, chuckling, hands grasping the cane, leaning forward.
“Is there something amusing?”
As he strained his chuckle, facing you, he said, “Has anyone ever told you that you’re adorable, as well as endearing,” he spoke. “I wonder why people are avoiding you when you’re just as exquisite and interesting.”
Staggered, you were too stunned to respond at his unfiltered words. “Mister—”
“Levi,” he advised. “Please refer to me as Levi. Mister is making me feel old.”
“You don’t look old,” you said, flustered. “You’re too handsome. I almost mistaken you for a new heir to the throne.”
Levi chuckled once more. “I’m no prince; I’m just a wandering soul who’ll live the life to the fullest.”
Hearing the rumpling paper beside him, the drawings nearly flew away. You caught them by jumping high in the air. Luckily, no one was paying attention to you.
“What are these?” you asked, flipping the pages over, you saw the pages of detailed drawings he carved and crafted with just a shade stump and a finely thin pencil he carved from a honed knife. Each page you flipped, you stared with awe. You have seen fine art throughout your whole life, from a young girl to a lady, art has been your escape, a way of coping from your mother and your relatives’s doltish and dull skills and interactions. You have seen paintings that are as winsome as a crowning sky, but seeing Levi’s artworks has been nothing but otherworldly, something you want to dive in and stay there for eternity. All the colors and shapes are immaculate, and the proportions and detailed designs on people is exquisite.
“It’s beautiful,” you said, handing it back to him. “You have keen eye when it comes to drawings and color schemes.”
Levi tucked his head. “Thank you, Miss O’Connell. It’s never meant to be for sale.”
“What is it for?”
Shamefully, Levi’s dull eyes darted to yours. “That’s something to be discussed in another time. But I’m touched on how you complimented my drawings.”
“How long have you been doing this?”
“For a while, given five years or so, right after the Rumbling,” he stated. “I could draw on my left hand as well.”
You were taken aback. “Oh?”
“I can do so many things with my hands,” he whispered onto your ear.
“Like,” you coaxed, blushing again.
“Like, I can do a knife tricks, and aside from making tea, I’m also good at cleaning.”
“Cleaning,” you repeated, the back of your neck was scorching.
“Yes, I’m an expert when it comes to cleaning, especially with certain materials on one’s body. I can make it pristine and shiny again.”
Your lips quivered for a moment. “Y-Yes.”
And with that, Levi rose onto his feet, indicating for you to go alongside him. “Come, Miss O’Connell. I’d like to show you something you might be particularly interested in. Perhaps inspired along the journey, if you let me.”
“I’d be happy to,” your hand clasped around his arm, letting him lead onto a new destination. “Levi, I want you to call me (y/n). Can you call me that from now on?”
His lips pressed against your cheek. “As you wish, (y/n).”
~~~
Later that day, on the afternoon, the weather has been given time that the air has cooled off from the steaming sunrise. The rigid air pressed against your shielded skin. As of now, you hated wearing thick and full on your limbs. You wished to have an alternative look from the rigid society. You liked dresses and jewelry, in fact, you loved them, but somehow ever since Zeke came to give you a present or how Gertrude was giving you orders to be desirable, you want nothing more but to burn and sell them.
Let alone to see your mother and your useless close-minded relatives be terrorized with agony from watching you burning the prized possessions and sell them—whichever in between. Or have the Titans feast on their flesh. Either way, you wanted a new sights and experiences to see and feel, like Levi said, as a wandering soul.
Tonight was when Zeke announced of the formal dinner at the first class at the centered room. At this point you wanted to choke yourself from eating grotesque meal. Gertrude, on the other hand, kept pestering you, but you successfully ignored her. At this point on, no matter what you say or do, they’ll be offended or having a phobia of speaking or looking at you. Considering the options, if you do become as Queen, you have a power to terrorize your mother and your unintelligent relatives. But if you’re a Queen, Zeke will do nothing but to terrorize you, too, if making a wrong note.
Each time you’re dressed—primmed and proper—you wanted nothing more but to walk on the deck with Levi for eternity. Be touched and praised by him, for him to tear your thick and full dress out and underneath him is merely a pure arousing fantasy you want to escape from the society’s dark ulterior motives.
“Let’s go, (y/n),” Gertrude ordered. “Your presence must be under Zeke’s perfect plan for tonight. Everything must go well-accordingly. Make no mistake again, or I’ll have you thrown into a cage and never to be outside again until you learn what it means to be compliant and subservient.”
“You never considered anyone’s personal feelings and opinions, Mother,” you nonchalantly responded.
“I never considered you, at all,” Gertrude snapped. “Stop making these stupid statements. Stop clinging onto the idea of being independent and learn what it takes to be a suitable lady for a suitable man.”
“To hell with these people and this society,” you said under your breath. Thankfully, no one caught that. Not even Eren, who was walking beside Gertrude, who gave her a sincere grin. But when he turns to look at you, you could only remember but his warning.
I could only wish someone save me from this hellhole.
~~~
In the dining hall, the violinists strung with their bow as the pianist rapidly played the keys on the piano. Everyone was roaring with excitement as you entered into the hall alone while Gertrude was clinging onto Zeke’s arm.
You didn’t greet anyone with a full wide smile. You gave a small nod in return. Too much of yourself isn’t a good thing, in fact, be the best version that everyone wants you to be as, your mother said to you, aiming you with a smile as a warning.
Once you sat down beside Zeke, while Zeke sat at the end of the table as the main host, you, on the other hand sat on the assigned seat as a female guest of honor while Gertrude sat farther from you. Thankfully, you don’t have to deal with her shrill voice.
When Zeke stood, the violinists stopped playing, and the guests were watching him, abiding.
“Please enjoy your stay here at Goliath. We have the best meal and best drinks, so make yourselves comfortable. Eat and drink to your hearts’ content!”
The guests cheered.
It felt like you’re stuck in a loophole, constantly slamming at your face. You wanted to face the roaring thunder and raging seas again. You wanted to feel the coldest rainfall.
I wish he’s here.
After Zeke sat down, everyone feasted to their hearts’s content. Meanwhile, you’re stuck with worthless meal—filled with veggies and carrots and potato salad—no savory meat or wine glass for you to fill. Meanwhile, Eren sat beside your mother, chatting with a soft, yet firm benign tone that he could muster.
“Sweetheart,” Zeke said, clasping your shoulder. His touch raised a quiet anger in your chest. “As your future husband, I want to give this to you, only if you meet me at the balcony after our feast tonight.”
As your lips parted, another voice boomed in.
“I’m sorry for the intrusion. I hope I’m not too late at the grand feast,” a deep voice said behind you. Everyone in the grand table stopped talking and veered at the new coming guest. Beside you, your eyes veered—your sight didn’t deceive you. It was real as it gets.
Beside you, was none other than Levi Ackerman, lounging with his good leg crossed—ankle placed over to his knee at the grand table before you. Looking back to Zeke, Zeke’s twinkled eyes were now contained in an alienating state of fury. Looking back at Levi, his silver-blue eyes are composed, as if he was already friends with danger and despair.
Man to man.
No.
Man and the Titan.
“Yeager,” Levi said, glaring.
“Ackerman,” Zeke replied with venom.
Everyone whispered at Levi’s presence. And everyone exchanged their muttered words under the words: “Do they know each other? Have they met before? Are they friends?”
Everyone knew who Levi is except you. Your heart felt broken, knowing why everyone is aware of him.
But from harsh exchange looks between Levi and Zeke, it could only come to a conclusion.
Their raging war has begun.
He Was My Patient
Here’s a shot at some Levi fanfiction. Hope someone enjoys. Levi x Female Reader❤️
You were a doctor for the Scout Regiment, and this is a look at the journey between you and Levi.
Tumblr media
It was another average day for you. As a doctor for the Scout Regiment, you were charged with taking care of the soldiers who got wounded while out in the field. While there were many doctors and nurses on staff there, you were the one in charge. Most of the time, your patients were respectful and kind.
But then you met the stubborn man from the Underground District.
Levi Ackerman, along with his friends Farlan and Isabel, were some of the most stubborn people you’ve ever met. Why did Erwin allow these people to join the Scouts?
Every cadet who joins has to go through a mandatory check-up through you. Vitals, past injuries, or any sort of medical awareness went through you and was properly placed in a folder for your convenience. The amount of information you asked and required might make people uncomfortable, but they understood and complied, nonetheless.
Isabel put up a bit of a fight, Farlan was compliant, but Levi was a challenge.
He was stubborn and rude, refusing to give up any information about himself. Needless to say, you gave up. Letting him suffer from any wound he got was something that helped you sleep at night. After all, he was quite a jerk to you when you were just doing your job.
Cut to after Farlan and Isabel died: First Feelings
You heard about the loss before you even saw the soldiers who were on the expedition. Farlan and Isabel certainly weren’t the only ones who died, but this was on a personal level for you now. Levi stubbornness around you had continued well until now, and you shared that same dislike to him.
But now, everything changed.
Levi was compliant when you examined him, even going so far as to agree on bedrest alongside some other wounded soldiers. You never expected this kind of behavior from him, but after you heard what happened from Erwin, you weren’t surprised.
The man had shut down. He had lost everything that was familiar to him.
Everything except you.
As days went by, you couldn’t stop thinking about him. Yes, you did feel sorry for him, but it was more than that. Erwin didn’t seem to mind the attempted murder, so you didn’t either. Truthfully, you didn’t know what Levi’s plans were anymore. Would he stay with the Scouts?
There was a weird pain in your chest at the thought of him leaving.
Unbeknownst to you, you began to check up on Levi more than your other patients. Even the ones with gnarled arms and missing legs still came after him. You would glance over one patient, and then immediately move to the room next door.
He slept most of the time, much to your surprise. Whenever you walked into his room, Levi was just slouched back against his pillow, eyes shut with hands laying on his stomach. It was maybe two or three times that you would come in here to see him. This time, you had a vase with flowers in it to place by his bedside.
“I keep this room as neat and tidy as possible. I know you appreciate that.” You whispered as to not wake him when you gently set the vase down. Afterwards, you hesitated for a second before gingerly sitting on the edge of his bed.
“I hope you know I wish you all the best, Levi.” You whispered while reaching to gently grab one of his hands. It took a couple seconds, but you were surprised to see how his thumb moved to gently stroke your own hand. Looking up, you saw that his eyes were still shut.
But you couldn’t help the smile that accompanied your red hued cheeks.
A mission beyond the walls: First Kiss
It seems Levi decided to stay and follow Erwin after all. You were both glad and terrified at the same time. I mean, he’s seen what titans can do to people, how easy it is for people to die. What if something happened to him?
You were well aware of your feelings for him now, even if he wasn’t.
As the Scouts got ready to depart for the world outside the walls, you walked with Levi as he led his horse towards the others. The two of you are no longer acting so petty towards each other. I guess after seeing how easy it was to lose his friends, Levi was more aware of how he treated others. Yes, that must be the reason.
“You’ll come back safe, right? I won’t see you without any limbs?” You asked him, semi-joking but also very serious. He didn’t turn his head to fully look at you, but his steely gray eyes flickered in your direction.
“I don’t intend to. I’m going to go out there...and I’m going to come back...” His voice was serious and determined. However, he also mumbled something else that you couldn’t quite catch. There was a nagging feeling in the pit of your gut to tell him your feelings, but before you could say anything, a shout was heard.
“Scout Regiment! Prepare to depart!” A voice came from the front. You both looked in that direction as the other soldiers mounted their steeds and sped up towards the gate. Levi reluctantly hung back, looking up there and then looking back at you.
“Levi...be safe.” You chickened out, folding your hands together and looking at his boots. For a second, you thought you saw a flicker of disappointment in his eyes, but it became glazed by his stoic look. Levi nodded at your words before turning the follow the others, still on foot.
But he only took a couple steps before stopping. It only took a second for him to spin on his feet, drop the reins, and rush back over to you.
Before you could comprehend, Levi grabbed your hand and pulled you towards him, allowing your lips to crash against his.
The kiss only lasted for a couple of seconds before he pulled away.
“It seems I’ve fallen for you as well...I can’t deny it anymore...” He whispered, eyes full of more emotion than his face showed. You widened your eyes.
“You knew?” You asked him, cheeks a dark hue. He nodded.
“I was just too scared to confront you...I’ve lost so many that I’ve come to care about...I didn’t want...I couldn’t...” Levi fumbled over his words, not used to speaking about such emotions. However, more soldiers were shouting for the lagging ones to hurry up. Levi glared in their direction.
“We’ll discuss this later...because you will come back.” You said and he nodded, reluctantly letting go of your hand. His loyal horse had followed him over, and he was quick to grab the reins and swing up into the saddle before urging his horse to a gallop, following Erwin and the rest of the Scouts out of the gates.
He becomes Captain Levi: Proposal
“This is so exciting! You’ve really moved up in the world since the day we first met.” You told him with a big grin as you grabbed his hand in your own, swinging them slightly. The two of you just got done with dinner, dressed up slightly, and were now walking down a dirt path through the countryside.
“I mean, Captain Levi, how formal does that sound?” You teased him a bit, nudging your shoulder against his in a loving manner.
“I hate it.” He deadpanned, and you giggled a bit. You knew well enough that ever since he’s been promoted to that title people, especially Hanji, have not called him anything else. You don’t blame him for getting irritated.
“It’ll get better, dear. You know that.” You said lovingly and he nodded, squeezing your hand a bit. This caused you to arch a brow a bit. Levi has been quiet for most of the evening, quieter than usual.
Did something happen?
“Levi, you are enjoying your evening, right?” You asked him, and he gave you a rare smile. But what surprised you more about that was that you swore his cheeks were slightly pink.
“Yes. I always enjoy my time with you, but that brings me to make an important decision.” Levi told you, halting his walk which caused you to stop as well. Much to your confusion, he released your hand and fished around for something in his jacket pocket.
Your face exploded in color when he pulled out a small ring, getting down on one knee.
“Marry me, Y/N.” The way he said it was commanding, like he wouldn’t take no for an answer. It was very typical of Levi, but you could see the hesitation and worry in his eyes, the fear he had when he made this decision. But you were just shocked.
B-But...b-but it’s supposed to be your big day! I mean, isn’t that why we went out to such a nice place?” You asked him, stuttering slightly as you recalled the evening’s events. Did Levi sneakily plan a nice evening, that you thought was to celebrate him, just to propose to you?
“It still is my big day...if you just say yes already.” He stated bluntly while avoiding eye contact with a red face.
“I-I...Yes! I mean, of course!” You said while still trying to wrap your head around what was happening. However, things were being set in reality when he got back to his feet and slid that gorgeous ring on your finger.
It glistened beautifully in the setting sun as you held out your hand to admire.
“I’m going to be really happy as your wife, Levi...” You told him lovingly, tears nearly brimming your eyes. The man himself smiled a bit and moved over to place an arm around your shoulder. You both stood there in peaceful silence until Levi broke it.
“We’re never going to hear the end of it from Four Eyes...”
A year after the wedding: The Future and Beyond
The first anniversary is always the most exciting one, and truthfully, you never thought you would get to this point in your life, especially with a man like Levi. You were a doctor and you expected that to always be your priority ever since you were chosen for the Scouts.
However, now your priority has changed.
“What do you think about having kids?” You asked Levi out of the blue as you guys sat outside at this local tea shop, enjoying a cup for your anniversary. However, your question caught him off guard, and he started to cough and choke on the hot beverage.
You winced as he struggled. A couple seconds later, and he managed to compose himself.
“Um...they’re kind of dumb, don’t you think?” He asked with a bit of a red face, looking away with narrowed eyes. You giggled a bit, gripping your own mug of tea.
“Well...what do you think if we had a couple of little idiots?” You asked again, and Levi hummed to himself. Looking over, he watched as countless families and others walked down the street. He hummed to himself.
“I would be a shit father...but I think you would definitely be strong enough to bring another Ackerman into this world.” You smiled sympathetically at him, reaching out to grab his hand in your own, squeezing it.
“I know you’ll do just fine...you’re gonna have to be.” You told him with a slight grin, a blush on your face. Levi’s eyes widened at that, and he felt his whole body go numb for a second as he processed what you said.
“Wait...are you trying to tell me you’re...pregnant?” He asked, and you nodded slightly. For the first time ever, even when he was just your patient in the infirmary, Levi’s eyes brimmed with a bit of tears.
“I...I...” He struggled over his words as you squeezed his hand a bit, allowing him to be emotional for this tender moment in your guy’s lives. Levi allowed himself to wipe the tears a bit and compose himself before saying what he said to you years ago.
“I’m going to go out there...and I’m going to come back...” But this time, you were able to catch what he mumbled at the end of that sentence, altered as it may be now.
“For you...and our child.”
The journey you guys have been through were a whirlwind of emotions. From dislike, to neutral, to love, you guys crossed the whole spectrum. Levi started as just your patient, but he has now become your husband and the father of your unborn child. He got the life that he never expected to have.
And you both were so grateful that it turned out this way.
Levi doesn’t get drunk. Mostly, he spent tonight in the mess hall—an afterparty, cheers to a “successful expedition”: minimal casualties versus high reward—sat with his fellow peers, fine to be in a room where the air wasn’t so depressing for once, and happy to be with you.
Besides the lowered inhibitions, the sour acid breath, the drunken zombie-walk (he could and would go on), he doesn’t drink because alcohol doesn’t get to him very much anyway. Erwin says he has an iron stomach. Tonight, Mike said Levi is a freak of nature. He would’ve socked him for that if Mike wasn’t clearly wasted.
You kept smiling at him, genuinely, really. Not one of those tight ones to inspire some hope in a hopeless situation—your eyes shined when you looked at him.
“What’re you thinking about?” Levi had asked you behind his hand.
“Whatever you are.” You grinned cheekily.
You didn’t get more than tipsy—he’s a good judge about shit like that. Experience.
“Have you ever even drank, Levi? Ever gotten the littlest bit tipsy?” Hange. Sticking their nose where it didn’t belong as usual.
Nanaba said, “As dry as a desert, I bet.”
You had been looking at him by his side, smirking under your fist, and, sensing no one at this drunken table would let it go until they were satisfied, begrudgingly answered, “Once.”
And there was an uproar. Half the table wanted a story, and half, you, urged him to change that. Two’s the charm.
The first time he got drunk was a depressing story, and technically a lie, so he took your side.
(Shitty memories. He used to get drunk once a year, every year at the same time since he saw what alcohol could do for a man like Kenny—it makes you forget. Nothing was really remarkable about the time of year, nothing except what landed him an orphan in the first place.
Even after Kenny fucked off, Levi kept on until he found some purpose in his friends. Grief, he could push down, and anger, and resentment, and the hurt that’s hard to explain, but only until it overflowed, and the liquor burned on the way down. He has bad memories tied to alcohol.)
Levi pushed his hesitance down. Partly because you laughed loud when Erwin retrieved an ancient cruet of moonshine from his office, partly because you kept touching his waist, then his thigh. He had let this happen with bewildered anxiety.
He wanted it to happen. He would’ve pushed you away if something sharp shaped like both fear and desire didn’t strike him the way you made it do.
He doesn’t push you away anymore, or he tries not to. Each day in a relationship feels like becoming a novice all over again. Before, what he didn’t do since leaving the Underground three years ago was get close to people, not after Farlan and Isabel. It hurt too much. It was distracting.
Things changed. He accepted that with renewed yearning. He wanted your attention all the time, even if he looked bored—especially when he made himself look bored—but asking? Sober him was always paralyzed, and Levi is sober, always.
He wanted the attention, pushed himself in your direction to get it, even, but he didn’t know what to do with it or where to put it. Ever.
Moonshine changed that. Hange screamed when he didn’t flinch after tilting the searing alcohol into his mouth. He had to take several sips to reach something resembling tipsy and halfway-sober. That was as much as he could take, and you secretly whispered to him that he didn’t have to if he didn’t want to, anyway.
But he didn’t care about peer pressure. He cared about you.
Sex is something he’s even more reluctant about than drinking. Everyone in the Underground was crazy about sex: having it, selling it, boasting about it, and then having it some more. It was a market. Two people rutting against each other like animals to feel good for a while.
Reluctant, yeah, and he felt disgusted, so disgusted he recoiled inwardly whenever it was brought up. He didn’t know why until he got to a certain age and he realized what Mom did for a living (this, instead of suppressing every memory of her; part of him knew it was a shitty thing to do, but it hurt too much to miss her).
That was years ago. He grew up, the disgust shriveled away, but then replaced by fear ever since you and him crossed a certain invisible boundary in your relationship that asked, When?
It was hard to identify what he was afraid of. Emotions were difficult and messy, they weakened him—fear worst of all.
He feared a lot of things. Fear of hurting you, fear of making you feel like a customer than the person in Levi’s life who knew too much about him and made his hands clammy and shaky when you were alone together. The last person Levi would let take up space in his heart rather than at a distance, and the first who would know him completely.
He feared being too much, and not enough. Guidance, he needed that, because he refused to ever read the comics Oluo read when he thought no one was looking. How could he make you feel good?
He feared freezing up. Scrutiny. Being exposed. Pushed away. Being pulled too close.
It had run around in his head more and more since that line was crossed, even though you never brought it up. He liked that about you. Some feelings didn’t need to be said out loud to be felt, and you knew that.
Your patience, too. It had been a long time since the line was crossed. Maybe there was a time limit—There had to be?—but he didn’t care about you getting tired of waiting nearly as much as shutting his fear down so he could be close to you in the ways the fears infested. He wanted it so bad sometimes that he’d stare off into space when he was alone and minutes later wake from a daydream with his pants tight; he had dreams; he let his eyes wander.
He was so scared it paralyzed him.
The moonshine, he figured, would erase that enough, for long enough, to get comfortable.
It did until after the afterparty. He was stone-cold sober the moment the door to his quarters opened, so he kissed you instead of answering whether he’d like to shower to sober up or get to work (he’s always working.). Neither, he’d say, if his tongue wasn’t as dry as a desert and too thick in his mouth.
Neither, for once.
Your top fell off your shoulders at some point, his cravat somewhere, his collar loose—the anxiety made it hard to say when—and kissing you, which he also felt like a novice at again. They ran deeper and closer, sending a tiny thrill through him every time you guided his jaw in one direction.
He was the one who kissed you, and crawled on top of you, but he didn’t know what to do. Giving in to his body was not real advice. It got him thinking about where the fuck to put his hands, where to put his hips, and froze him again.
One of your hands combs his undercut the wrong way; the other lies over his back. You nudge him close when he pulls away.
“You’re not still drunk,” you comment softly, like checking in.
He tucks a loose strand behind your ear to mask his mortification, and his confusion. “I was never drunk. Is that important?”
“You can’t really say you want something like this and mean it when you’re drunk,” you explain flatly. Obviously.
This is news to him. Sex isn’t something that… happened to someone?—Another fear. He would have to do everything by himself, while you’re made to lay there because that’s what someone on the bottom did. That’s sex.
His knit brow finally betrays his confusion. Your lips meet his earnestly. “Baby. What else don’t you know?”
He doesn’t know how to respond, and all over, he feels hot. You call him pet names more often than his embarrassment allows, but this time it stops him from speaking.
You take his cheeks in your hands. “Do you want this?”
He musters, “Do you?”
He’s grateful you don’t throw the question back at him, and nod. Desire and reluctance both yawn open inside him.
“Yes,” he replies quietly. He doesn’t just go along with what others want, either—he would’ve said yes when you put your arm around his waist early into the night; would’ve answered the same if you kissed him first.
You don’t assume and make him feel ashamed—the answer is obvious.
“You can touch me, too.” You take his hand, the one beside your head, and bring it to your belly, skin as warm as an oven and soft to the touch. He spreads his palm. “It’s not just what one person wants. I want you to take off my bra; do you?”
“Yes.” His voice comes out more flat than he means.
You smile faintly, like you’ve just got an idea. “Do you want me to show you?”
“Show me…”
You lean up into a sit, making him sit back on his haunches to compensate, to see what you’ll do. Somehow he’s still stunned when you pull your cotton bra over your head. They’re soft-looking and plump, enticing, and his lower half warms.
“Tell me what you do and don’t like.”
You guide him in by his jaw, then by his hand, and as his palm envelops and scrapes your soft nipple, he suppresses a sigh.
You don’t. Your hand stays there, kneading in and squeezing until your nipple is hardened to a peak.
His lips wander down your neck with a renewed sense of confidence. In his other hand, he flicks your neglected tit to hardness, until you sigh shakily over his shoulder. He bites a shiver, and sinks his teeth into your neck instead. Gently sucking. You whine into his hair.
“See?—That’s so good,” you praise, a little breathless.
His brows draw again. You send him a questioning look when he goes tense. Embarrassment and your praise war inside him.
“Nothing,” he mumbles.
“Nothing…?” You free another button on his shirt. Some are left, but up above the trail of hair around his navel, he’s exposed. His collar has been threatening to sag onto his shoulder since you asked if he was still drunk. “Is it nothing if I tell you how pretty you are?”
He pins his tongue between his teeth. Pretty? Pretty. He feels both giddy and frustrated that you’re pushing him, but both are erased when your warm palms snake into his dress shirt and drag over his muscles, then his pecs. Your lips meet before the sound can worm its way out of his mouth. Still he shudders as you tweak his nipples and your silky lips part, inviting him in.
His shirt falls off his shoulders. Your hands are everywhere, so that’s where he puts his, too. Pretty pretty pretty rings in his head over the sound of his heart, stomping in his ears.
“How beautiful you are?” you go on—you’re actually saying more? “How much I like that you’re hard right now, and all I’ve done is kiss you?”
At the very last second he swallows a whine, kissing you hard and dragging you forward to compensate. The position isn’t good—the balls of his feet dig into his haunches and your legs are bent and sprawled on either side of him.
He senses it. He lets it happen. The world abruptly spins around as he’s pushed onto his back, the pillows a soft cushion behind his head. You’re straddling him, your tongue pushing over his molars and stroking his own. It’s getting harder to stay quiet. The pressure your hips put on his neglected cock makes him want to push into it, but you do that anyway. His nails drag down your back.
You pull away for air, not far. Your heavy breaths mingle. “Is it still nothing?”
He relents. He knows he’s blushing too hard to deny—he’s always been stupidly pale—and his dick. Obviously.
“No.”
“It’s okay,” you titter. “You don’t have to tell me how much you like being called a good boy.”
Part of him is a little pleased you’re getting something out of his total inexperience, and the other part tells you to shut up. Both your hands land on his silver belt buckle at the same time. Neither of you disagree. A clink sounds over the smacks of your lips, by this point wet and swollen.
“Don’t stop,” he tells you as you open his pants. It feels good to say you can keep touching him. No confusion. He still gasps as you take him in your hand through his briefs, caught severely off guard by how good it would feel. He’s done it to himself, but if you keep going he’d never be able to do it again and be nearly as satisfied.
It’s easier now. You work around him and help him get rid of his slacks, and then your own trousers.
The new intensity with the layers gone surprises him. While you’re marking his neck (He can act annoyed later.), he lugs your leg up so you’re straddling his thigh. Enough attention paid to him. He wants—
Warm heat wets his bare thigh. Your panties are soaked through.
“Fuck, Levi.” Your hips grind down.
“Now who’s a wreck from just a little kissing?”
He feels your smile on the side of his neck. “More than just a little now.”
Another wave of confidence fuels what he does next—he tenses his thigh, taking your hips and guides them in trudge-like sweeping motions. He’s never heard you moan like that, next to his ear that sends shivers down his spine.
He loses track of time from the moment your mouths again mold together. You share heat and heavier and heavier breath. The slow, almost leisure motion of your bodies grinding together is easy to get lost in.
“Wait,” you gasp, an alarm that shatters the dream. He stops everything, immediately on alert. Was it too much? Did he hurt you?—How?
You tell him to sit up, just enough to recline against the pillows. You move over his thigh again, so the position changes—the top of your thigh can bury between his legs with ease.
Your eyes are soft and glazed, watching his frown. “Nothing’s wrong. I wanna try this.”
He does, too—he sees where it’s going. Your lips meet, and then your palm is on his ass, encouraging him to grind the way you are.
He gasps into your mouth.
“Okay?”
“Don’t stop.” A whine breaks through as hard as he tries to make it sound like a command. His mind is just shy of short-circuiting.
This leisurely back and forth between sloppy exchanges of tongue and lips grows into heavy, more urgent grinding. Your panties are ruined, all that’s left of the friction; his own briefs have a wet spot, his cock is pounding. He’s so hard it hurts, and the urgency is mended through a kiss. No need to rush, it says. A slow rise, and he feels with a sudden shot of thrill, and a long, mind-bending fall.
In hurried, smooth rolls of your hips, you moan into his mouth. “Levi, I’m…”
He gasps, he doesn’t know why. Your sweaty foreheads are pressed, so his breath hits your lips when he tells you, “Then faster. Use me.”
“Ah—’Vi.” Your hips move quick and frantic over the thick plane of his thigh. You tense tighter and tighter, your jaw dropped open to let out a slew of little whimpers decorated with his name, or baby. Honey, I’m gonna come.
“Yeah,” he whines, desperate, desperate. He’s close. His blunt nails dig into hips to urge you until you’re all but thrusting, drawn as tight as a bowstring against him.
When you come, you briefly still, a second held in time, and then come unraveling in his arms in a fit of shivers. Your thighs were hugging before, but they squeeze now, the sounds waterfalling out with each wild jerk of your hips. You come hard.
As your lips fall together, deep and lax, Levi grips your hips and squirms. He doesn’t know what to do now that it’s… his turn, and part of him still believes you’ll stop now that you’re satisfied.
“Y-You don’t have to,” he says, barely above a whisper. His balls are heavy and aching, but you don’t have to.
You give him a look, and settle yourself between his legs. The look says Are you crazy? but you’re still shifting away. The mixed signals confuse him.
“Blasphemy, Levi.” You peel off your panties.
He scoffs, resists the urge to roll his eyes. “Uh-huh. Do what you want with me… I’m just saying you don’t have to drag it out.”
A new twinkle in your eye. Fuck. “Were you close? Did you like listening to me?”
He again tries to have an attitude, even though you’re playing with the hems of his briefs, now low on his hips. “You should pay more attention. What does it look like?”
He parts his thighs, because obviously he’s swollen and leaking, but he ends up more embarrassed than satisfied. His chest rises quickly with each heavy breath, and you still haven’t seen anything, but you look excited anyway.
“You look fucked,” you snicker. Your palms slide up his legs. “Let me make it worse.”
He gives the hems to you, along with the last of his pride.
He sighs in utter relief as his cock is freed, and slaps against his belly, fully hard to the point of ache. His length isn’t impressive, but he’s even thicker to compensate, blushing deeply red above his heavy balls. Cum that has welled from his slit and rolled down overpowers the relief and fills him with a deep shame that’s hard to name.
“You look fucking incredible,” you purr, surging forward to kiss him and erase all doubt.
Your lips dot down his sharp jaw, your tongue tracing the dips and grooves of his collar with your tongue, slowly, then slower still and already he can’t take it.
His hand, pale and bony, tough and marred by violence, you slide from your shoulder and kiss, like he’s royalty. “Soft.”
“You’re lying.” Frowning, he moves to cup your cheek, but you kiss his palm instead and then the fine muscles packed in his arm. Your searing tongue traces scars, some raised, and some ancient.
“It’s about perspective,” you say.
Levi doesn’t like the way you’re treating him right now. It’s not bad in any sense of the word—he knows it isn’t normal to be unhappy about being worshiped in this way—but you’re wasting your time on him.
You notice him staring—you’ve moved on to his soft chest now—and look up. “Want me to stop?”
“…I don’t know.”
He doesn’t know how to sit still and be praised—he’s not good at sitting still, period.
It seems you’re coming to a solution. You guide his hand down as your lips mold with his inner thigh, leaving wet tracks in your wake.
“Touch yourself.”
His brow furrows. “I-I don’t see what you get out of doing all this.”
“I get to see…” You use his words against him. “And I get to make you feel good.”
He’s skeptical, but his palm wraps around his cock nonetheless, forming a loose fist. He was close only some minutes ago. However you mean to all but worship his body, you’re going to take your time. He sees right through you.
You kiss over the slopes and divots, sliding your heavy tongue across his nipples and never failing to make him jerk with every lick. Every touch makes him sigh. So sensitive, he thinks you murmur, and he drapes the crook of his elbow over his face and closes his eyes.
His hips twitch into his slow-moving fist, trying and barely managing to pace himself. He thinks he’s known for his patience, but he is sensitive, he is fucked, and your visage licking a straight line from hip to hip makes him grit his teeth.
There’s something immensely satisfying that it’s you and your tongue and hands and saccharine comments.Your teeth scrape the thick plane of his inner thighs. Your tongue fills him with a sense that time is running out.
“Keep fucking your fist,” you guide, and shuffle backwards. You kiss his achilles heel.
He tenses. “C’mon.”
“Do you want me to stop?”
“I want you to touch me already.”
You smile at his knee and stroke his other. “I am. Don’t be a brat.”
He scoffs into his elbow, pushes his thumb into his slit. Only your hands keep his thighs spread open. His twitches and throbs in his fist.
The wait both aggravates and excites him. Being strung along like this leads to a higher reward, he can feel it, just like he feels your gaze on him, constantly. You like what you see, even though he’s hiding himself. You don’t force him to show his face, even though your cheek is mere inches from his dick, and for some reason it makes his face hot.
Your tongue makes a reappearance, gliding over the red blooms contrasting brightly against his snowy skin tone. Marks embedded into his skin over the winding scars ODM has inflicted on his body hurt the most, and make him shake the most.
Your tongue slides heavily up the hot crease between his thigh and his crotch, inches away from his hand. He peels his eyes open and squeezes the base of his cock tight so he doesn’t come.
“Does it feel good?”
You keep asking him that, and he keeps gritting his teeth in non-answer.
“I can’t.”
His eyes fly open as you scoop up his balls in your hand, rolling them in your palm. He groans and tosses his head back, his hand now still. It’s beyond wanting or needing but something else entirely. He’ll fall apart if you don’t give him more, but he knows you’re waiting—you’re waiting for an answer.
“Do you want me to stop?”
“No,” he snaps, his voice so tight it almost escapes him entirely, and behind his arm he’s almost speaking to himself. “It f-feels…”
You kiss his forehead, gently bringing his arm down. By his ear, you whisper, “Just wait ‘till I have my mouth on you.”
He’s not stroking himself anymore. He grips your arm as your hand slides up his thighs. If he doesn’t, he’ll float away. His cock is right there, and yet you won’t touch him. Everything has again paused, a tight second frozen in suspense.
“Look at me, baby.”
He peels his eyes open. You look satisfied with yourself, like you have a question again. “You deserve a reward.”
He has no idea what that means. His eyes glaze anyway, angling his chin towards you so you might kiss him.
Your lips glide over his, soft. Your hands are moving.
Then your thumb, shiny and slathered, you press to his lips. He doesn’t resist, but then freezes in surprise. His eyes flutter as thick sweetness slides over his tongue. He decides he likes it. Heavy, tinged by bitterness and wet heat. He sucks. It’s gone too soon.
“I’m gonna make you feel good, okay?”
Shivers snake up his spine. His thoughts are jumbled, voice embarrassingly shaky in telling you to get on with it… please. He needs it, he needs it.
You don’t tease him any more than you had—with your tongue, your hands picking him apart piece by piece until he nearly shatters, just to put him back together again.
His hands are tight in the sheets by his sides as you pry his legs apart again and settle between them. The first tiny lick sends a gasp shooting up his throat. You’re tracing a prominent vein on the side with your tongue, but only tracing.
“Fuck,” he curses at nothing, hips pushing up. Something, anything to take the edge off. He doesn’t, can’t, have you pause again. “It feels g-good.”
A small moan sinks its vibrations into the round tip of his cock as you take him in, and suck. Hot, hits him immediately, silky wet heat. His jaw drops open, a stupid hitched gasp welling up in his throat. Your hands barely keep his hips in place.
“Perfect,” you whisper at last, and then slide him over your tongue, filling your cheeks, and like pulling a trigger he snaps his arm over his face and squeezes his eyes shut. It feels like his heart in his throat. It built up in him for ages, high and deprived and needing—now a tall wave of pleasure threatens to crash over him and tear him apart.
He moans, long and low in his chest as you give him everything he’s been craving since the start. Whatever you can’t fit, you stroke, massaging his balls. He throbs on your searching tongue. He’s fucking dizzy.
He notices you’re copying the way he jerked himself before with thick sucking. Each time you pull up, his cock glows almost iridescently, coated in drool.
“Don’t, don’t stop, fuck don’t ever stop—” he babbles, his hips lifting and tensing on their own accord. The edge is so close.
The juxtaposition of your hot, rapid sucking compared to earlier makes him squirm. He gropes for something, anything to hold onto and hears a ripping sound. He feels with excruciating vividness as his thighs begin to tremble, and himself tip over.
You bring your head up and down, wet slurping sounds to join it before his hearing and vision cut out and his cock pulses around your sucking, the sound he makes hugely embarrassing and something he’s never heard himself make before. His veins are alight, bringing his back to a tight arch as, finally fucking finally, his balls empty in your mouth, shooting cum down your tight throat.
He was so scared before, frozen, unable to make the next move. Now he shakes freely on his back, features lax and loose, gaping at the ceiling. He doesn’t think about anything at all.
Gasping, he settles back down, a warm comforting feeling settling over and deep within him. Like he just died and came back to life.
You don’t stop until he’s limp in your mouth, where you come up and wipe your mouth with the back of your hand. Tears are beaded in your eyes. He realizes you swallowed.
He tastes himself when you kiss him around both your lost breaths, sharply bitter in the mix of distant alcohol and warm tang. When you touch his cheeks, they’re wet and streaked. It doesn’t bother him nearly as much as he thought it would.
None of this bothered him nearly as much as he thought it would. He could get used to it.
