Day #20
Wrong
Angra and Tempestas put on racoon onesies and tried to use cuteness to manipulate the Foreigners.
Only Kuku fell for it and I'm positive it was more out of pity than anything else.

Oh yeah. There was a lot of that sort of lying about interviews with a bunch of jp media usually shipping related. Though with Pokémon it was often about unreleased/upcoming content that got disproven quickly since it’s just so massive a franchise.
so i dont know about pokemon related stuff or shipping although from what i've heard since the person in question got banned from the fate subreddit they've since moved on to dangan ronpa so maybe they talk about it there but in regards to fate theyve made a lot of claims like
The light novel was greenlit by Nasu, as supervisor, Higashide as writter and Konoe as illustrator art.
David, St.George, Kintoki Sakata & Musashibo Benkei were scrapped by Kinoko Nasu’s idea.
Nasu said these servants doesn’t fit into plot and they were replaced by four new servants instead.
Chiron, Avicebron & Achilles were designed by Takeuchi & Nasu, illustrated by Konoe in charge of character design.
Mordred is the culture of festival achievement thanks from TYPE MOON fanbase.
Addition of Mordred into F/A was Takeuchi’s idea and Nasu agreed.
Mordred was orginally to be male but Nasu feel that having two male characters look feminine (the other being Astolfo) would be too much.
However, Mordred as a male was not Nasu’s claim of actual fact. In truth, Nasu didn’t decided for final Mordred’s gender since Fate/Stay Night until Fate/Apocrypha. Which mean Mordred was “genderless” in F/SN.
After the project of online game was scrapped, Nasu said that all servants are too ridiculous powerful and might bored if the player’s powerful servant was facing against other player’s powerful servant. It’s like a hax.
The online game was based on Infamous 2’s gameplay style.
Nasu & Takeuchi were laughing about more Saber clone. In fact, Mordred is the real clone of Saber (Altria), so the wish has come true for those people who still saying about Saber clone.
Karna is Nasu’s favorite servant. Karna’s popularity has been skyrocket thanks to Fate/Extra CCC.
Astolfo is Konoe’s favourite servant. He is symbol mascot of Fate/Apocrypha. Higashide can’t even tell if this is comfortable or not since Astolfo is dude.
Yggdmillennia, Sisigou & Kotomine Shirou were planned by Nasu, Takeuchi & Higashide.
Higashide wrote all Sisigou, Reika & Black camp’s character development, while Homunculus, Kotomine Shirou & four new servants’s character development was already written by Nasu.
Nasu said that Shirou is basically a character who look to have “light outside and darker inside” personality. Uncanny different trait from Kirei.
Homunculus (Sieg) was Nasu & Takeuchi’s idea. Nasu wanted introduce male homunculus in Fate series for the first time.
Takeuchi & Konoe said Homunculus looks cute but dense person.
Takeuchi stated Homunculus & Jeanne are his new favorite characters, along with Altria.
Interviewer mention about why Takeuchi like Homunculus. He reply "It’s a secret" due it will trigger the spoiler.
Jeanne is based on real french student girl according to Takeuchi. She was at same college where Takeuchi studied, before he met someone as model of Arcueid Brunestud’s design from Tsukhime come to his mind.
The difference between Altria & Jeanne is sex appeal. Which is already explained in TYPE MOON April Fool 2012, where Heroine X (Altria) in furious when she heard that Jeanne’s sex appeal is better than her.
Tsukihime is Higashide’s favorite visual novel.
Nasu stated homunculus like Mordred can summoned as Heroic Spirit despite not human being.
The rules of magecraft in Apocrypha universe are same as in Fate/Stay Night & Fate/Zero except that there is no rule of Ruler classes.
Ruler’s duty is protect the Holy Grail and oversee the battle.
Interviewer asked Nasu & Higashide about why Jeanne hijack Leticia’s body rather than ritual summon. Nasu stated it was something broke the rule of HGW and corrupted the system.
Nasu mention the first servant who hijack human body is Avenger, Angra Mainyu from Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. Who control Emiya Shirou’s body and mind since he has no body but void form. The theory that come from Rin Tohsaka was correct.
Roa from Tsukihime was also can hijack the human body (Ciel & Tohno SHIKI) but reincarnation soul while he was in Akasha.
Nasu & Higashide admit it was silly idea in the first place. But they wanted Jeanne to have some disadvantages/weakness for herself due she was powerful servant and might kinda “boring” if she summoned as spirit form. (Avoid fan calling her a mary sue).
Which mean any servant can hijack the human body while in critical condition but it's rarely.
Karna’s background story has been altered in comparison to his original myth in Mahabrarat. This means, Karna is Nasu!Karna, not Myth!Karna which we know.
The rule of summoning Ruler is who can guide the war during in his/her past and a sainthood(?) as specific condition. Only one Ruler class is summoned in one war. The this system works in Apocrypha universe only.
St.George was remove because of this. Karna, however he refuse refer himself a saint and a killing machine who can kill God, summoned as Lancer class instead.
The Greater Grail force summon the servant as Ruler when met the condition completed.
If Jeanne is summoned in different universe without rules of Ruler, her class will be obviously Saber. She still will be summoned as Ruler if the mishap of war affected the result in different universe.
Jeanne was first mention in Kara no Kyoukai’s light novel reference: Mikiya Kokutou mentions her when he was discussing about Heroic Spirits who utilized the power of the Counter Force.
While the design for Jeanne wasn’t made during the production of the Fate/Zero novels, the design was completed around the time of the anime adaptation.
most of which are straight up fabricated (one of the main things being the interview they source only talks to higashide and not nasu, and none of the points mentioned in this list are mentioned in said interview), banking on people not being able to read the interviews they source. other lies they've circulated include shimousa and heian kyo being unpopular in the jp fanbase (despite consitently polling well on jp sites) and more recently claiming that they also hated ibuki douji (which also seemed to be a catalyst for getting them banned on reddit). this isnt the only misinfo theyve been spreading and they were at it for over 10 years, and it's all over the fgo wiki
if you're interested about wtf this all is you can see some of the info about it here

in honor of apron boy talk about shirou and cooking... can you tell i miss today's menu
SO FUCKING TRUE. shirou cooking makes me so so so happy (I also love cooking) and i don't know how canon today's menu for the emiya family is (yes i know its hollow ataraxia canon so like, kind of) but the episode where shirou learns to cook for kiritsugu is sweet and then really sad when you think about it. he learned to do housework because kiritsugu always kinda sucked at taking care of himself and others, and taiga was Not helping, and. honestly. that's really sad that he was like 8 and managing a household while kiritsugu was off doing kiritsugu things (you know.) i think the episode itself is..really sweet. shirou trying really hard to make him happy is sweet, his determination to do well and make people happy is cute but makes my heart hurt. i'll have to save my thoughts on their relationship for another post tbh. but for me his cooking is something he started doing maybe not under the best circumstances, but grew to enjoy (to the extent that he can enjoy anything.)
i really love and find sweet how this ties into sakura as well, because she thinks from the outside that he's got it all together and he's super competent not knowing the emptiness that kinda led to him doing all this stuff for other people. they both kind of look to cooking as an escape from their thoughts and a chance to make someone else smile. it also means so much to me because of it being a more feminine trait (that and the cleaning) that he's a Little embarassed at and makes little copium comments scattered here and there about it but everyone around him loves his cooking so much that he can't be that embarassed about it. The cooking scenes in the vn are incredibly sweet but you have to note the amount of times he specifically tries to make an extra big or special meal when he's anticipating a fight (usually about his behaviour, lol). I love that he's just used to making an apology meal to try to distract people from the fact that he's being stubborn and annoying. i love him.
(Fate spoilers under the cut bc i know some oomfs do intend to read it)
i also think its reallyyy really sweet when archer is shown cooking like the fact that its something that still gives him satisfaction..that cute little hand on hip he does after rin says the tea is good in the anime LOL. and of course the archer cooking episode in todays menu. theyre all so sweet. hes lost so much but he still likes to make people smile and he still feels oddly competitive about it too. it's really precious. i think about that today's menu episode a lot. you have to think about how long it had been, for him, since he made a meal for saber. aaaaaaaaugh.

I've never been much for body horror, but I've been enjoying your way the body mirrors the horrors inflicted on the mind - or vice versa. Would you have any suggestions on what to read to find more of this?
There is probably a very obvious exemple out there, but after 25 minutes scrolling through tvtropes & my discord archives I have to say I'm drawing a blank on this one, so here are some recs that aren't quite "If your trauma manifested physically /If you got body horrored and it drove you insane, would that be fucked up or what" but close enough
Princess Mononoke, you know, the Ghibli movie. If you somehow dodged any spoiler about this movie in the past twenty years, the pitch is thus: you follow the story of Ashitaka, an Ainu prince who recently got cursed by a demon and forced into exile. It's relevant to your interest because it features a lot of these cursed characters, and the more the curse spread the more body horror they get (usually in the form of tentacles or various marks on the skin) and the more they lose themselves in favor of all-consuming hatred.
Library of Ruina, The story of Roland, a normal guy from a normal city (lying) who gets drafted into working for an eldritch library that gather people and turn them into books. Features a lot of people who get twisted physically and mentally the local plague. That being said, it is the sequel of another game called Lobotomy Corporation, which I highly recommend to play for extra context, though I don't think it features that specific brand of body horror.
We Know the Devil, a short visual novel about three kids at summer camp being sent to meet the devil. Features a few characters getting body horrored as a result of their own mind, but it's in a more positive light than the others.
Technically Fate/Stay Night and its sequel Fate/Hollow Ataraxia both qualify. FSN (story of a bunch of mages doing a battle royal to fulfil their wish) features a guy who slowly goes insane as his body turns into swords. FHA has a girl physically turning into a monster as she loses herself into her bloodlust. That being said both of these games are fucking long and the body horror is kind of a footnote compared to everything else, so though I do rec these games because they fucking rule, don't expect to see that trope early on.
I guess Soul Eater (manga about lads turning into weapons fighting witches) qualifies?? This one is admittedly stretching a lot, but madness as a disease manifests as your blood turning black.
Feel free to reply to this post if you've got any more exemple, or to send me an ask about it ig. It's a kind of body horror that is dear to my heart but I don't recall seeing a lot of it.

hello!
i finished fate/stay night a bit ago, which i liked a lot, and im currently playing higurashi - which is a bit harder to talk about while im still in the middle of it, but i like it a lot as well!
im kind of, wondering what i should go for next, though - tsukihime, fate/hollow ataraxia, and umineko are the obvious answers? but i also sort of want to play something a bit more self contained.
i liked F/SN's story telling more, i think, but also i also really wish that i could play a girl protagonist. the problem with that is it kind of sometimes feels like it might be a genre standard that you Dont play as a girl asidfhusadhf. and i feel like my problem with higurashi is that like, while the story is on par or at least pretty even with F/SN, i think that the constant resetting, at least in the first half, just. makes it lag and i feel like im having the same concepts reintroduced to me over and over, which i think F/SN did more elegantly.
do you have any suggestions? full metal daemon muramasa is On my list, although i dont reallly know that much about the plot? sorry if this is too vague / not a helpful question!
glad to hear from you again!! thanks for writing, and sorry it took a minute (well, over a week) to get back to you
Higurashi is gonna be a little weird for the first few loops through, but as you might have already discovered, it coheres better as you approach the end!
also, while not necessarily a full-on standard, female protagonists are definitely less common and struggle with the issues you'd expect from a seinen-adjacent genre. it's an unfortunate side effect of the market and culture around entertainment more than aynthing
FMDM is really good, but also very much has a male protagonist through its entirety so you may want to buffer it with something else in the meantime
this... is going to sound like a really weird recommendation if you were around when this game got popular with letsplayers, but I'll try to explain with as few spoilers as possible
I'm gonna toss Hatoful Boyfriend on the table as a recommendation.
because a lot of youtubers saw it as a one-off gag game, they actually missed out on the majority of the content (this is a sincere recommendation and I'm not joking even a little bit) that takes place after completing the routes presented to you at the beginning of the game. there's an actual story worth reading, and it's so much more interesting than you'd assume from the memes
I can't explain why or how, but it's very much worth a read
regardless, here's hoping you enjoy the rest of Higurashi, along with anything you might decide to check out next!

actually started reading fate/hollow ataraxia and I gotta say, even though the fact that it's, y'know, hollow is kinda spoiled by the title, I don't care, getting happy domesticity for 90% of the main characters is enough for me >:)
Also saber suggesting we expand our castle to keep livestock and that Rin annex the matou house so as to not appear to be a weak lord is good. saber 2024 re-establish feudal vassalage

Minor Spoilers for F/HA but they’re devoid of context so I think it’s okay
