From all four corners of the world comes my love 4 you
(A/N): This has been written with the inspiration @foreveralbon brought me. I love you and your incredibly mind, honey
Summary: Lando's girlfriend is a seamstress working at a tailor shop. She is repairing his clothes, he is cutting holes into his sleeves. Together, they release the cutest merch
Pairing: Lando x fem!reader
Warnings: None, this is so fluffy, I'm crying myself to sleep. I need a Lando like this
Wordcount: 2.9k
🏎Masterlist🏎 __________________________
(Y/N) thinks she is about to go crazy. Manic even.
Over and over again she patches up holes in her boyfriend’s long sleeves.
And over and over again new holes appear. It’s like this is her Sysiphus task. Just repairing Lando’s clothes day in and day out.
Don’t get her wrong. (Y/N) does this for three different reasons.
The first being that she is a seamstress, working in a tailor shop. This craft is how she pays her rent and food.
The second reason is that she really can’t have her boyfriend go out looking like he just got picked up at the side of the road begging for a warm meal and shelter.
The third reason may be less obvious than the previous ones. Acts of services is (Y/N)’s love language. She is not particularly good at letting people around her know of the appreciation she holds for them. Verbally at least. It’s not the way she grew up. She learned that actions speak louder than words can. So patching up her boyfriend’s clothes gives the young woman the opportunity to prove how much she loves him. She just hopes that Lando understands the meaning as it is intended.
Little does (Y/N) know, Lando really appreciates her patching up holes. What he isn’t a big fan of is when she repairs those that are intentional. The ones in his long sleeves are put there on purpose.
While (Y/N) is meticulously sewing, Lando goes snip snip in the other room with a pair of scissors. He just loves having sleeve paws, but it’s annoying when his thumbs are jailed in.
“Lando, have you seen my scis- What are you doing there?!” He turns around, looking at his girlfriend like a child being caught with their hands in the cookie jar. “Freeing my thumbs?” He tries to explain in a small voice, scared that she is about to go off on him for ruining his clothes.
(Y/N) sits down next to him on the ground. “If you have told me you want thumb holes, I could have done it for you. I would hem them for you, so they won’t fry. If you want me to, can I take some of your shirts to the shop tomorrow and work on them during slow times?” The way Lando’s eyes light up makes her wish for a camera to keep the memory of it.
(Y/N) not only fixes the holes in his sleeves.
“Love, would you put another patch on my jeans?” Lando saunters into her little crafting room. When she moved into his apartment in Monaco, he insisted on transforming a guest room into her own sewing cave. It was only fair. He got his gaming room as his hobby room, so his girlfriend needs her own territory too.
The room is filled with different sewing machines, one wall is decorated with threads of all kinds, colors and thicknesses. Several shelves are overflowing with different fabrics of any kind imaginable. Every shade, pattern or reflection that any crafter would kill for. Lando really spoils her and happily let’s (Y/N) run loose in a craft store, draining his credit card to her heart's fullest content.
(Y/N) would feel bad, if it wasn’t for the big difference in salaries they sport. Also, it is Lando’s way of treating his girl. Instead of flowers or a bag he buys her a new Bernina B 325, which is not something she is exactly complaining about. They share most of their expenses, but still, working at a tailor shop will never make you a millionaire.
Currently working on her own project of making a quilt out of scrap fabric for Max’s upcoming birthday, (Y/N) barely looks up to her boyfriend. “Yes, of course, sunshine. Just put it over there and I’ll have a look at it in a bit. Do you have any preference for the new patch? I ordered city themed ones a few days back and they arrived today.”
Without having to be pointed into the direction, the Brit already goes through the drawer that is solely dedicated to the patches (Y/N) accumulated during the last few years.
If he is being honest, that kind of work of hers is his favorite. Lando is just amazed by the different shapes, colors and themes her collection entails and how her delicate efforts bring a new individual mark to his favorite pair of jeans.
“I think I want to go with this one,” he mumbles after sifting through the drawer. Lando places a small rose next to the currently used sewing machine for her to not have to search for it in the midst of the chaos that is going on on the several desks in this hobby room.
He actually loves spending some down time here, especially when his girlfriend is working on her own projects. Lando hides under one of the desks, sometimes scrabbling away on pieces of paper for the next helmet sketch, sometimes answering some important emails on his laptop and other times he lies down between different piles of fabric and takes a nap. Having (Y/N) hack away with the machine, occasionally cursing under her breath when she pinches herself sewing something by hand or the music playing on a low volume brings Lando great comfort.
Spending quality time this way is secretly Lando’s happy place that he visits mentally during stressful patches when he is away.
A couple days later the door to the tailor shop (Y/N) works at rings the bell, alerting her of a new customer. “I’ll be with you in a second!” She calls from an adjoining room, cleaning up her work space from the trims that have been left by the jeans she just shortened.
“How can I hel- LANDO!” The young woman exclaims, rounding the register to jump into his arms. “I thought you’ll return from Australia tomorrow”, she murmurs into his shirt. The thumbs are, of course, able to escape through the holes she recently cut and hemmed like promised.
He laughs into her hair. “I wanted to surprise you and pick you up from work like the good boyfriend I am. I also got you something from ‘Straya.” Out of thin air (his back pocket actually) Lando procures a small stack of Australia themed patches.
“Oh, honey, they are perfect. Thank you so so much!” She kisses him all over the face until finally putting her lips onto his. “Just let me close the shop and we can go home and enjoy our evening.” Lando presses another kiss onto her lips, “Hurry up, I can’t wait holding you in my arms again.”
While (Y/N) packs her things up, Lando goes through a stack of different fabrics. One in particular catches his eye.
“Hey love, where did you get this heart patterned fabric? What do you have planned with that?” (Y/N) pops her head in to see what her boyfriend is pointing to. “Oh, that one. The owner was negotiating a deal with a new supplier and wanted to check out the quality. We wanted to see if this one is durable enough to make shirts out of it.”
An idea is forming in Lando’s app, that he quickly puts down in the notes app on his phone.
She emerges from the side room with her back and something else. “Would you try this on for me?” (Y/N) asks innocently, handing Lando a jean jacket. It is a bit oversized on him, just the way he likes.
“It’s pretty nice. What do you need me to model this fo- This is one of the patches I just gave you!” Lando admires the kangaroo that looks like it’s taking a jump on the sleeve. “I thought this would be a fun little project for the season. After every race I’ll put a patch from that country on the jacket. I can also stitch some additions onto it as well for when you get a podium or win or are voted as driver of the day and so on. Just, I thought this could be something cute.” (Y/N)’s face heats up the more she talks about her idea.
Lando pulls her into his arms, squishing his girlfriend as close as possible to his body. “Thank you, you don’t know how much I appreciate the work and thought you put and are putting into this.”
Like the proud trophy boyfriend he is, Lando loves modeling whatever his girlfriend sewed, patched up or created and pimped up in some other way while entering the paddock. Just as he predicted mentally, the fans are going crazy about his jacket online as he wears it on Wednesday for media day.
“I see, (Y/N) loved the patches you bought her. At least dragging me through every craft store in Melbourne that I know of has paid off for you”, Oscar remarks dryly as he watches Lando hanging up the jacket in the hospitality.
“Yeah mate, she sewed it on immediately. It’s her newest project, putting on a patch for every country we race in during this season after the race. She also wants to add a bunch of things for special occasions during the races.” Lando explains fondly the thought process behind the jacket.
As he is leaving the paddock later that day and signing several cards, caps and other merch, some fans ask him where he got the jacket from. “Oh, that old thing? I’ll gatekeep this one. Good luck on finding the store.” He answers a young woman while putting a bracelet she handed him on his wrist.
He hasn’t gone public with his girlfriend yet. The people know that he is in a relationship with Lando having started an already several months long soft launch, that includes their socked feet during movie nights and her backside in beautiful sunset scenes. So nobody knows what she does for work and the two of them want to keep the little bubble of secrecy they have so far going for a bit longer. Out of the public eyes without the pressure of fans and media.
It felt like a scavenger hunt going online and seeing fans and other media outlets trying to find Lando’s particular jean jacket. For the two of them it becomes their evening entertainment, reading up how everyone and their mother are losing their minds from not being able to detect where it is from.
“The chat is asking about that dumb cloth again. Just tell them where you got it.” Max groans, even his own chat during the stream isn’t safe from the assault. Lando, who chills on his bed while waiting for a message from his girlfriend about her being done with work, just smiles. “Come one, please lift the secret. I can’t even roll my eyes often enough times, that is how annoyed I am by this whole thing.”
The Brit loves the suspension around the subject, but gets up and saunters over to the monitors. “Ok Chat, I will only say it once and never again. Get your pens and papers out and write it down. So, this jean jacket with the patches is a designer piece. You can’t get it anywhere else, it was custom made and no, the designer doesn’t want to go into mass production with that one. But I am cooking something up. Just be patient, I feel like I will be able to make a deal for you. I just need to work my magic, but that takes time. My name is not Tinkerbell.”
His little sass tirade is broken up by the ping of his phone, making Lando scramble for it to see his love’s text. “Chat, do you see how down bad that man is for his girlfriend?” Max ridicules Lando, giving him payback for all the teasing against himself.
While the chat is going insane, with the certainty that this moment has been clipped and will be used for edits by the fans, Lando just smiles at his phone, shooting a quick reply of picking her up. After that he packs his stuff and throws a quick goodbye to Max and the stream, onto the way to the tailor shop.
There she stands, his love in all her glory in front of the closed store. “Didn’t I tell you to wait in the building for me? It’s dangerous to be out alone, especially for such a beautiful person like you!” Lando scolds her lightly when he reaches her, taking her bag from her shoulder, throwing it onto his own back.
But (Y/N) presses a kiss to his lips, trying to soothe him. “It’s all ok. When I saw the headlights of your car, I stepped out and closed the shop behind me. I knew that my Tinkerbell was close by in case I needed saving.”
Lando wants to reciprocate the kiss, but stops mid air when he processes her words. “You watched the stream?” That shocks him a bit, because (Y/N) usually keeps out of this part of his life. It’s not really her world, streaming and gaming. So that’s one of the hobbies they don’t share, being the healthy couple, without a horrible codependency, they are.
“No, a friend sent me that clip a few minutes earlier”, she snickers, “Were you talking about me? About wanting to work a deal out?” Lando throws his arm around her shoulders, leading the young woman into the direction of where he parked his car. “I did. Originally I planned on woohing you by a nice candle light dinner and after that I wanted to ask you if you were open with making a few designs for LN4. The fans are going crazy over the pants and jacket. You also have the eye for the details that I love on clothes. It would make me so happy to hold something in my hands that we both worked on, to know that people in the whole world will wear it.”
(Y/N) looks up at her boyfriend, watching his side profile while he is rambling about the meaning of a collab between the two of them. How he can’t stop smiling over the excitement of the prospect of their merch line together, the way his eyes light up, his free hand gesturing while explaining a few ideas he has saved on his phone. She can’t help but press another kiss onto his cheek, effectively quieting him down.
“I will make that collab with you happen. I already have a few things drawn out in a notebook, I was just too scared to show you the sketches, not wanting to intrude or impose myself onto your business.”
Instead of saying anything, he just picks her up and throws them in a circle. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” He repeats over and over, both laughing about his childish antics.
A couple of months, several trial and errors as well as creative differences later, they stand in a studio, overseeing the photoshooting with the new collection.
“Wouldn’t this be the perfect way to launch our relationship to the public? With your face visible in the pictures?” Lando muses out loud while looking over a rack with hoodies. (Y/N) throws him a shocked look. “I mean, we can take a couple of pictures together with a few articles and also take a few of you individually too. The world needs to know the mastermind of these designs. You need to take credit for all the hard work you have done.” He explains, taking her hand and gesturing to the set up with the other.
She lets the idea rummage a bit in her head. It would be the perfect way to go public, especially since this is the first time her designs are commercially sold. (Y/N) breaks out into a smile, nodding rapidly. Lando can’t help but also smile, getting infected by his girlfriend’s happiness.
Weeks after that the new merch drop gets released to social media. The press and fans are eating up the couple's pictures, finally having a face to the woman, who is able to fluster Lando through text messages alone.
The clothes itself also get the best feedback.
A variety of the jean jacket and patched pants are now available for fans to buy, being able to kind of replicate Lando’s paddock look, coupled with a heart patterned hoodie from the collection.
But nothing gets close to the original with the many hand sewn details on Lando’s jacket, even when fans try to imitate them. A nice side effect is seeing other people picking up the craft of hand sewing and stitching.
Many people swoon over the long sleeves with cut out thumb holes. They especially love the heart shape of the holes.
It’s a perfect detail to the name of the new line.
‘From all four corners of the world comes my love 4 you’ is printed in one way or another on every piece.
Because no matter the distance between Lando and (Y/N), they can feel the love for each other over any distance.

Behold the dress that kicked my ass.
After finally perfecting the empire waist dress I was of course sick of sewing it, so I went through the patterns inherited from a friend's mother (friend doesn't sew, mother was about my size and had a significant stash of projects she never got to start) and found a cute one that would do for my purposes. I should have dug out my muslin (I found muslin for $0.99/yard once 20 years or so ago and have been lauding my own wisdom in buying the bolt ever since) but instead I thoughtlessly pulled one of the fabrics from the inherited stash. Because I am smart enough to use stuff I have paid little to nothing for the first time I make a pattern.
I have never altered a dress with princess seams before.
There was absolutely no leftover fabric of that black; there wasn't even enough for the sleeves. Fortunately, I also overbuy solid colors in plain fabrics on sale and had quite a lot of a green that coincidentally match the palm trees. That button plaquet was not supposed to be a button plaquet, it was supposed to be facing, which I turned into a button plaquet when the front panels wouldn't meet across the portion of my anatomy that shakes when I laugh like a bowlful of jelly. I misjudged where and how much the flare needed to be changed to accommodate that and I couldn't think of a good way to make the scraps into a gusset to fix the problem. The button plaquet mostly solves that; but I didn't consider how much it would widen the neckline, and when my first try-on came I found myself with an off-the-shoulder dress and a really deep decolletage.
And that was when I entered one of my "what are shapes?" phases. I'm not good at rotating shapes in my head at the best of times; sometimes, I cease to be able to parse them at all. They become like numbers and make no sense. There's nothing I can do but tuck the problem into my backbrain and give it time. As usual, this method didn't fail me, and when I finally saw the leading edge of how to deal with the problem I started picking away at it one small task at a time.
This is still a shade too wide at the neckline (my hair's over my shoulders so the bra straps don't show) and there are seams that any seamstress as good as people think you need to be to make your own clothes would not tolerate for a second - but I happen to be a crappy seamstress who makes her own clothes anyway, and today I reached the point at which I could say: "That'll have to do; hem the thing."
I can't be said to have learned the pattern, either, due to the jiggerpokery with the facing/plaquet. Next time (which will not be tomorrow! Or even next month.) I will definitely call on my faithful cheap muslin. But it actually is kind of cute, and if I can learn to alter princess seams to my shape properly - well, that's a whole new world, isn't it?
Anyway, consider this encouragement to do any project you think you're not good enough to do, and to see it through. Whatever it is. If I can do it, you certainly can.

Alastor x Sewing!Reader pt.2
Chapter 3
You and Alastor crossed the threshold of the door and as soon as the blanket of darkness took you both over, you shivered.
"You must be freezing Y/N!" Alastor said pulling away.
"Huh? Oh no I am quite alright. It is just a couple of blocks to my place." You countered to the best of your abilities but your actions put no truth into your words. You brought your arms around you in a hug as an involuntary shiver spread throughout your body.
"Well," Alastor chuckled, "if it is just a couple of blocks my dear then I suppose I will be 'quite alright' as well." Alastor reached over his shoulders bending down slightly to wrap you in his coat.
"Thank you," you said going back to his arm.
"Anything for you" he said with a satisfied grin on his face.
You two walked back to your shop in a comfortable silence. You owned the building on top of your shop and lived there. It worked well because you saved time from the commute and were not paying for two separate areas in town. Walking together, you took notice of Alastor's coat around you. Different seams were tearing and there were plenty of holes in the lining. Safety pins that proved the illusion of a well fitting jacket poked at you with each step. 'How on earth is this comfortable' you thought to yourself. The shoulder pads shifted slightly with each step as they weren't stitched down.
"I broadcast at the end of this road." Alastor broke the silence recognizing where you both were as the sewing store came into view. Why didn't he ever take notice of your shop?
"Do you now? Who would have guessed we worked so close to one another and have never crossed paths" you chimed knowing its because you liked the comfort of your home.
"Thank you for walking me home Alastor" you continued incredibly grateful for the gesture.
"Of course darling. Do you need anything else from me tonight?"
"Just for you to get home safe"
"I will. Only because you were pleasant company tonight and I look forward to seeing you again." He ended the night the way it began, a simple gentle kiss to the back of your hand.
"Why thank you doll, you're just as charming as your voice on the broadcast. Safe travels- I'll see you again." With that you waved him goodbye, a smile plastered on your face. He was just the sweetest thing to you!
Alastor made it halfway home realizing you still had his coat. 'No worries' he thought. He would just pick it up Monday on his way home from work. He was content with the night, happy a nice person such as yourself was home safe and likely tucked away sleeping.
However, as soon as Alastor was out of your view, you got to work. Sure you had the next two days to get the coat returned to Alastor but you were excited for the project. Immediately you went to your sewing tables and flipped the blazer inside out. This made it easier to see what you were working with. There was a large tear in the lining in the back middle seam. The waist was pinched by bent safety pins on both the left and right sides as well as the back to create a tailored appearance. There were rips in the armpits causing the lining to tear away and multiple inner seams were torn.
It must have been difficult for Alastor to find properly fitting clothes with how tall and lean he was. If he sized down things would be too short on his long body so sizing up and altering the appearance was his only option.
The best way to fix his coat would be to tear out and replace the lining. It needed to be taken in at the waist and armpits and the sleeves needed to be hemmed a slight amount. Getting to work, you took your supply of old flour bags and started to trace a pattern. Cheap fabric could be difficult to come by so you offered discounts to anyone who would bring you the fabric for flour bags.
The new lining was made out of a heavier duty material rather than the cheap fabric already in the suit that could hardly hold a stitch without ripping. It took a while between all the cutting and stitching but you had the lining fit and sewed into the suit. Getting ready to hem and tailor the the coat, the sun started to peer through your blinds clearly curious about your work. Being focused in your work wasn't anything new, often times you were unable to sleep when you got a new project idea in your head.
Deciding to take a break, you headed upstairs. While getting ready; changing your clothes and washing your face, just doing the daily fixings you put a cup of coffee on the burner and set some breakfast in the oven to warm up. Once finished you headed down the stairs to open your shop and get started for the day.
You had Alastor's coat to finish- which now would take half an hour at most now that the hard part was out of the way. The blanket needed to be done this weekend and a few pants and dresses to hem. Next week you would start preparing for Mimzy's dress order.
A/N Hi everyone! Sorry this is short. I have been writing out all the parts to this story and then typing them all! I intend for this story to get pretty long and will be asking for some opinions soon! Thank you for reading!!

Hi! I love your historical pants. Did you use an existing pattern, or did you draft your own? And if so... Do you sell patterns at all? I'd love to make myself a pair but I haven't learned enough to make my own patterns yet
Hello ! I got this question a lot so I hope you won't mind if I use it as a springboard to make a general public reply about it ! For reference, I started sewing a year and a half ago. I don't have any formal training and started from zero, so I kind of just rely on enthusiasm and trial and error.
For most of my projects, I use a mix of patterns and draping. I mostly do men's clothing and the patterns I find don't always match my body type exactly, so I rarely get to use them as is. I'm fairly tall and narrow so usually the smaller men's sizes are a good base, but not all patterns include sizes small enough, and there's still much to fix for me in terms of chest length, leg length, thighs, etc. That'll be something to keep in mind if you're smaller or more hourglass shaped for instance.
For the fall front trousers, it was kind of an impulse project, so I didn't work from a book and I bought a pdf pattern from Laughing Moon Mercantile. It was very useful to construct the front, which is quite complex by my second-year-of-sewing standards, but it only came in fairly big sizes so there was a lot of alterations to do pretty much everywhere else. Also worth noting is that the pdf is made for an A0 format, and although you can print it at home on a mosaic of A4 paper using Acrobat, it's impossible to select which "tile" section of the A0 page you want to print. The pdf pattern contains many options and printing everything to get just the pieces I needed was just too wasteful to do. Instead, I printed only the pattern pieces from the first page, and drafted/copied the missing pieces from other pages myself directly on pattern paper. If you're willing to go through the printing and resizing hassle, it's a great pattern with very clear and exhaustive informations on construction and options for both historical and modern notions.
I picked that one because I wanted to do trousers specifically and it matched my needs best with many options to potentially combine, but if you're looking to do shorter breeches or just want to use it for the fall front, patterns are fairly easy to find on etsy or elsewhere. I like Reconstructing History because their smallest men's size works great for me and they cover a huge range of eras and styles. Unfortunately the instructions don't contain as many diagrams and are sometimes a bit more difficult to follow. I almost never buy paper patterns so I can't recommend any. When it comes to actual historical garments that aren't like, halloween costumes, I find it very difficult to encounter paper patterns and I only find what I'm looking for in books or pdf patterns. I find that both is best where you're a beginner ; the book gives great insight, and the pdf is a good base to work off. I'm still fairly new so I only have a few books (some of them physical, a lot of them pdfs, because they're expensive and sometimes out of print) but they're great classics and they help me a lot :
The Cut of Men's Clothes, 1600-1900 by Nora Waugh 17th Century Men's Dress Patterns by Braun, Costiglio, North, Thornton and Tiramani The Medieval Tailor's Assistant: Common Garments 1100-1480 by Sarah Thursfield Patterns of Fashion - Books 3 and 4 by Janet Arnold
Sorry this was so long ! If you're a beginner reading this, keep in mind I just threw myself at this with no prior experience quite recently and I'm having a lot of fun so go for it and don't be afraid to make mistakes and start over ! Good luck :)

(idk why I have written four birthday fics. It's nowhere near my own birthday but these were little things I thought of and wanted to get out of my system as I work on other things.)
Buggy knew Cupcake could knit. She told him one time when fixing a freak's sweater. She couldn't sew or things like that, but she was able to stop the sweater from coming undone with some knots and new yarn. He just didn't know why she was knitting some huge blanket and she wouldn't tell him why.
There were knitted squares piled in a basket in the bedroom that she kept adding to. Different colors and weights of yarn, skeins made from old sweaters, scarves, whatever Cupcake found that were too far gone to continue being used but able to be reworked into a new project.
When Buggy walked into the kitchen one afternoon after lunch, he found her at the table with several balls of yarn while she worked on a square. He walked over and picked one up, curious by the soft texture of the yarn. He gave the ball a squeeze before he started tossing it between his hands.
"So, are you ever going to tell me what this is for?" He asked when he picked up a second one, now juggling the two balls of yarn. Cupcake glanced up, amused by what he was doing, before reaching out to take one back. Buggy kept juggling.
"Okay, babe, can you tell me what happens in two weeks?" She asked as she tried to snatch one of the balls of yarn. Buggy dodged the grab but dropped one. It rolled away, settling in a corner of the kitchen. She sighed and looked at him, so he sent a hand after it.
"Uh, of course." He said as he collected the ball and started juggling. "We're going to have sex."
"I mean, yes." Cupcake didn't try to take the yarn back. "It's also someone's birthday." She looked at him, amused. "Why did you say sex? We have that all the time."
"Because sometimes I get busy, Cupcake, and I have to pencil you in, geez!" He grumbled as he grabbed a third ball, now juggling three of them. "Consider it a courtesy."
"Whatever." She shook her head and set the knitting down. "It's your birthday, Buggy. I'm making your present, okay?"
"My present?"
"Yes, babe. I'm making your present." Cupcake pointed to the pile of squares. "It's... Not going to be perfect but I know sometimes I hog the blankets on the bed, but also it can get cold, so I thought a blanket would be perfect for you."
He miscalculated and missed catching all three of the balls. They scattered around the kitchen as he stared at Cupcake. She was making him a gift, using her free time to do such a project, and by the amount of squares he's seen building up over the last few weeks, it was a big one.
"I mean, I thought you'd want something useful but I can um, get you something else if you want." She rushed out, taking his silence for dislike for her gift. She hesitated and started putting the project away in the basket. "This was a dumb idea. What was I thinking, making a gift? I should have bought you something instead"
"Hey, hold on." Buggy returned the balls of yarn to her before picking up one of the finished squares. He held it up, tugging on it as he checked the stretch of the square. There wasn't a pattern of colors, but a pattern of stitches. Little 'v's interchanging with little 'u's, giving a ridged look. Another square he saw had little 'x's all over it, giving it a different texture than the other. "Can you do more squares like this one?"
"Oh, what?" She took the square from him, looking it over. "Y-Yea, this is a moss stitch. You want more like this? I can do that. I should have the squares done in a few days..." She hesitated and looked up at him. "If you don't like it, just tell me so I can get you something different."
"I don't want something different, I want you to make me something." He insisted, crossing his arms as he stomped his foot. "And I want the blanket you're making since you're right, you do hog the blankets." He huffed and pointed at the stack of squares. "Next birthday I want a sweater, okay? And it needs to be flashy so everyone knows it's me wearing it."
"Oh, next birthday? Yea." Cupcake nodded and grinned. "I think I can manage." She grabbed the square she was working on. "Now, go away while I finish this. The finished result is a surprise, okay?"
"Are you kicking me out of the kitchen?"
"Obviously, now go away, Buggy." She said as she started on a new row. Of course he didn't listen. He sat down beside her, picking up the ball she was using, holding it loosely in his hands as she gave it a few tugs as she worked. He didn't care about any surprise now. He wanted to watch her work, feeling quite happy he would be getting such a gift from her. And to him it was absolute magic to see the needles move, the yarn strand looping around to create patterns and a square. In the end these squares would be joined together to make an even bigger square, one he could snuggle under with her, even if it meant she would end up stealing it in the night. It was made for him and that's all he cared about.

This is the steddie fic i've been promising for months but always forgetting to write and I know my thing is Steddie midnight thoughts, but i don't want to stay up that late or schedule it because I'm lazy and whatever it's midnight somewhere probably (i lied, i did stay up that late)
Anyway, I love Steddie people, Steddie people love me, we all love Steddie
Steve Harrington knows how to sew. Eddie can mend things, he can fix a button, he can sew a patch, but he's not good at it. It's very messy, very visible, he doesn't care he just needs it to get the job done.
Steve cares a lot. He needs it to look good but more importantly he needs it to look right. If he's going to do something, he's doing it right. He makes sure the thread matches the fabric, he always makes sure to wear his glasses so that he can keep his stitches very straight and tiny (Eddie loves it cus he looks like "a hot Rick Moranis" often accompanied by "Honey, you could shrink my kids." "What the fuck does that even mean?!" And he does not know).
It's not like he's really making anything, he doesn't have projects lined up. He keeps his grandma's sewing machine up in the attic, and gets it down if he ever needs it. All the fabric he has is either scraps or he just reuses things that were beyond repair or just didn't fit anymore. He likes fixing things more than he likes making them. His grandma taught him how, how to make things fit right, take seams in, let them out. He's a master of hems, jeans, skirts, dresses, you name it. It's at the point that Max doesn't even go straight home from shopping, she'll go to his and Eddie's house first so he can hem all her jeans.
You know who went prom dress shopping together? I promise you it was Steve, Joyce, Will, Max, and El who went prom shopping together (maybe nancy too) But I will tell you they found nothing! These are 3 of the most wonderful kids on the planet, there is no way in hell that he or Joyce are letting them look anything less than absolutely perfect. So of course they go to the fabric store instead and they find the most perfect patterns and "Ooh, I like the skirt on that one, but I really like the top of this one" AND THEY MAKE THEM LIKE THE SCRAPPY LITTLE GREAT DEPression children they are.
Now I know what you're thinking, where is the Steddie, I see no Steddie, patience patience (my wifi literally died and there is no service at my house, the universe will forever be against the steddie midnight thoughts).
So, Eddie really wants to go to a renaissance faire. It's been long enough since everyone thought he was a satanic killer, and no one really recognized him unless they were saying hi, so he invites begs Steve to go with him. But this is like as soon as he hears about it, so like a few months in advance.
"What am I supposed to wear?"
"Whatever you want. You could do like this if you wanted."
"But aren't you supposed to get into costume and stuff?"
"Yeah, I mean, if that's your thing."
"Are you saying it's not my thing?"
"You want to dress like an elf?"
"Do you want me to dress like an elf?"
"Yes." So they go to the costume store and Steve is APPALED, revolted. He feels that weird polyester crushed velvet situation and he thought he was going to be sick (i was gagging just writing about it) So he says fuck this and they go to the fabric store and he tells Eddie to pick out whatever he wants and pick whatever fabric out for him too.
Then he patterns their outfits himself (because I said so) and they are perfect, Eddie loves them, he is over the moon and under the sea and into outer space about these things. But what he loves more is being able to say "Thanks, my boyfriend made it." And of course like with so many creators, all Steve can see are the mistakes, the seam connecting the gusset to Eddie's sleeve not lining up at a perfect angle, the one loose thread he's afraid to pull on his cuff. It's a mess, but everyone else is blinded by how amazing they are. Eddie's dark brown cotton shirt, with an old braided leather belt that he definitely did not steal from Wayne, and a green cloak. And Steve's deep red linen one, using the same method of pattern, just with broader shoulders and fuller sleeves since the fabric was wider.
His blush is almost close to matching his shirt from all the compliments, and also Eddie showing him off is a very new and very different feeling than he's used to. He likes holding hands and letting Eddie pull him around to different stands and games, even if he almost tripped on his cape more than a few times. "Can we get a sword?"
"What? No, why would we need a sword?"
"I'm not saying we need it, but it could be good to have."
"Why would a sword--" Eddie pushed one into his hand and he had to admit, he liked the weight of it and he was immediately fascinated by the idea of being able to swing it around in their back yard.
"And look!" Eddie picked something up off the table next to them under the tent. "They have frogs!"
"What?"
"Like a holster. Look," Eddie put the belt around his waist then put the sword into its sheath with a suggestive raise of his eyebrow that Steve rolled his eyes at. Then he pushed him towards the long mirror hanging on one of the posts. Eddie stood behind him and spoke over his shoulder, "Can we get it?"
"As you wish."

here she is!!! finally fixed up my pattern for pretzel, here it is for anyone wanting to make their own frogtopus (I would love to see pics if you do! it gives me the sweet sweet serotonin of online validation)
here's a pdf version of the pattern to print, tutorial under the read more!
I would probably consider this an intermediate level project and this tutorial assumes you have a general knowledge of sewing, but I tried to explain some of the little details for anyone who may not be as familiar with sewing/making plushies
Materials needed:
¼ yard main fabric (smth like minky or fleece would work best!)
⅛ yard accent fabric
Matching thread
Safety eyes (I used 24 mm ones)
Alternatively you could use:
Small amount of black and white felt
Buttons
Embroidery floss
Stuffing
Other basic sewing materials (scissors, needles, pins, etc)
First off you’ll want to trace and cut out all your pattern pieces! If you’re using minky or a similar fabric, you’ll want to make sure the nap (direction that the “fur” lays) matches the direction of the arrow on your pattern pieces. Personally I also like to trace the seam lines onto the wrong side of the fabric so I know exactly where to sew (and bc I like to micromanage my seams to get the exact shape I want lmao) - you don’t have to do this, but I do recommend it for the dart lines on the body front and especially the tentacles as they might be a little tricky without that guide. After cutting out everything you should have something like this:
Tumblr media
(If you’re doing applique for the eyes and mouth, you’ll also need to cut the mouth and 2 of the larger eye circles out of black and 2 of the smaller eye highlights out of white fabric, preferably felt)
MAIN BODY
Start with the front body piece and fold it in half vertically with the right sides of the fabric facing each other. Line up the edges of both darts and make sure the seam lines match up, then pin in place and sew along the lines. In case you’re not familiar with sewing darts, you’ll want to start at the outer end and sew in towards the middle where it comes to a point for each one. These will help give your finished plush a fuller, more rounded shape!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s what the top dart looks like finished! I also like to leave a little extra thread at the end point and use both ends to tie a knot there to secure it (mostly bc that’s just smth my costuming prof always told us to do lmao)
Tumblr media
Once you’re done with the top dart, you’ll want to do the same thing with the bottom one.
Next you’ll want to align both pieces of the back body with right sides facing together and sew along the smooth edge, leaving an opening where marked for turning later.
Tumblr media
Lay the front and back body pieces flat and align them with right sides facing. Pin and sew all around the edges, leaving the bottom open.
Tumblr media
TENTACLES
Next up are the tentacles! You’ll want to take two of your top tentacle pieces and match them up along the top edge with right sides facing, then sew along the straight line there, making sure to stop at the corner where the curve of the tentacle begins. Repeat for the other pair of them, and do the same with the bottom tentacle pieces as well.
To make sure your top and bottom tentacle pieces all line up correctly when you go to sew them together, you’ll also want to sew a little diagonal line going from the corner bit to the edge like this:
Tumblr media
Clip the corner of the seam allowance like so, making sure not to cut through the seam itself. It’s important to clip your corners and curves to make sure everything will lay right and look smoother when you’re done!
Tumblr media
Once that’s done, you’ll want to align the pairs of attached tentacles together with the right sides facing and repeat the last steps for the other two sides.
Tumblr media
Do this for both the top and bottom sets of tentacles, and you should end up with something like this:
Tumblr media
Take the bottom oval and pin it to the bottom tentacle piece around the center hole, right sides of the fabric facing. It helps to mark the four points on the bottom piece and match them up with the four connecting seams of the tentacles. Sew all around the piece.
Tumblr media
Take the whole bottom piece and line it up with the top tentacle piece, making sure to match up the seam lines. Pin them together and sew all the way around, taking care around the inner corners in particular. If you’re using a machine, it helps to stop at the very point of the corner, leaving the needle in the fabric, then lifting the presser foot to pivot the fabric. Drop the presser foot back down and continue sewing along the line like before.
Tumblr media
Once you have both pieces sewn together, you’ll want to clip the corners and trim the seam allowance. You could also clip the curves, but I find that trimming the seam allowance down to about ⅛” around the tentacles works well and doesn’t take nearly as long to do. Just be careful and make sure you don’t snip through any of your seams!
The inner corners are most important here, because you want to release tension in the seam allowance so the tentacles can spread out properly when you turn everything right side out.
Tumblr media
You’ll also want to clip the curves and corners of the main body piece if you haven’t already (except for the seam allowance around the opening on the back body piece, you’ll want to leave that alone). Turn the tentacle piece right side out and now you should have something like this:
Tumblr media
FINISHING THE PLUSH
Now, with the tentacle piece right side out and the main body piece inside out, place the tentacles inside the main body piece and line up the raw edges of the fabric. Match up the tentacle seams to the ones on the main body, making sure the widest points of the bottom oval are aligned with the side seams. Pin and sew all the way around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Use the opening you left in the center seam of the back body to turn everything right side out. I found it easiest to pull the tentacles through first, and then everything else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now would be a good time to add on the safety eyes if you’re using them! If you’re going for the applique option (or maybe button eyes!) you could also probably do that now, or you could wait until after stuffing your frogtopus if you prefer, it’s up to you!
When you go to stuff your plush, it’s best to stuff the tentacles first, then the main body, taking extra care to push some stuffing into small areas like the eye bumps to make sure they’re well defined. Once you have your frogtopus filled, you can go ahead and stitch up the opening in the back with a needle and thread. I like to use a ladder stitch so the thread stays hidden and the final seam looks nice and clean
Tumblr media
I used heat transfer vinyl for Pretzel’s mouth, so I’m adding that on now and ironing it in place. This would also be a good time to sew or glue on your appliques if you’re going with those and haven't already!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Add on any other details you might like, and then you’re finished! Congratulations on your brand new, extremely marketable Pretzel plushie!

Making a Masking Tape Pattern
It's an old cosplay hack. You wrap a part of your body in plastic wrap (cling film), and then apply duct tape or masking tape over the plastic wrap until it fits to your body. You can then draw on the shape of the garment and seams, and it should fit perfectly to your measurements.
Over the weekend I was attempting to use a bodice pattern I already had to make a leather chest plate for a D&D Ranger Cosplay. After several failed mock ups, in which the curve for the princess seam just wouldn't sew flat, I gave up and looked for a different pattern. My usual online sources for free patterns failed me, and I decided to try my hand at this age old cosplay hack.
Step 1: Wrapping Yourself in Plastic Wrap and Tape.
I was able to wrap the plastic wrap around my entire torso, but not so much by upper back. For that I required the help of my mom. I was able to apply the tape to my front half, but for the back I once again needed the help of a second person.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 2: Marking the Seams
Once I was wrapped in tape, I took a sharpie and drew on where I wanted the seams. I marked a center front line, a center back line, a shoulder seam line, and a side seam line. I also marked a front and back neckline, and drew on the curve of the princess seam so that it curved over my bust to my waist to account for the natural curve of my bust.
Tumblr media
Then my mom cut me out of the tape up the center back line. Note, be sure you are thoroughly wrapped in plastic wrap before you start applying tape. I didn't do as good a job as I thought I did, and disaster struck.
Tumblr media
Thankfully the tank top I was wearing was one I'd had since high school, so losing it wasn't the end of the world, but maybe wear an old shirt you don't care about if you do this, just in case.
Step 3: Making the Pattern
Once free of my masking tape cocoon, I cut apart the shell along the seam lines I drew. That left me with three wobbly tape pieces. The seam over the bust held its 3D shape once cut apart, so I added a notch in the curve to make it lie flat.
Tumblr media
Then I traced the shapes onto some parchment paper (but any big enough piece of paper will do) and added half an inch all the way around to allow for the seams and hems.
Tumblr media
Step 4: Mock Up
Before I cut into the very expensive fake leather I bought, I wanted to make sure the pattern fit. So I cut apart a mock up from another project to make a mock up for this one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Half of it fit great, half of it came out super wonky, but at that point I'd been working on this for 6 hours straight, so I decided to wait and fix it the next day. I got up the next morning and cut another mock up and stitched it together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This time it fit perfectly, and I cut into the leather.
Step 5: Final Fabric
I cut out the pattern one last time, this time in the fake leather I purchased.
Tumblr media
Then I stitched it together, and tried it on using clothes pins to hold it shut.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, it fits perfectly. I have some buckles coming, and then I'll be able to finish it!
Normally I would have saved this for when I completed the project, but I was really excited and proud that I learned a new technique! I wanted to share that excitement with you.

Hi!!! I really love your snake Crowley plush and I want to make a similar one both as A Friend and also as like, a mini weighted blanket type thing to drape over myself when I'm anxious. Did you use a pattern for him?
Hellloooooo! I am unbelievably delighted that my snake child is so beloved!!! First, I have definitely been cuddling with him as a weighted blanket snek and honestly the snakey form is sssso much better than a blanket imo because he's A Wiggly Friend rather than just a big suffocating warm thing. Highly recommended!
Second, no I did not use a pre existing pattern, but I can tell you what I did and if the instructions are too vague I can (try to) write a real one up to share! I am kinda an intuitive (lmao, messy) knitter in that I hate fixing mistakes so I just integrate any I make into the project and let whatever happens guide the process but there was a method which emerged eventually.
This is LONG. But here we go:
Here's the yarn I used. Total, 120ish (maybe 160??) yd of super bulky for his belly and 4 skeins of 2 strands held together (total 450ish yd?) of a bulky worsted for his back. It was on sale? Definitely go bulky as you can manage, otherwise you'll be at this forever. If I was rich I would have held together a strand of silk blend black with the plain superwash for a pretty glistening look but whatever
Tumblr media
Cascade yarn is the best mid grade superwash ever.
I like the look of held together yarn for contrast against the belly, makes the black stitches look more scaled and have a softer drape but whatever, if you hate holding strands together and prefer a more overall bulky look, use super bulky all over. Bernat is cheaper than wool for sure too.
I knitted his belly first, using US 13/9mm needles and K stitch. I was doing a snake crowley glove project at the same time and knitting them in the round half black half red. It SUCKED and was unmanageable. I hate colourwork. So, tummy first to establish length because it's easier to rip out if I make a horrible mistake. That happened a lot as he kept getting longer and longer and I tried to do increases without looking while watching much ado about nothing and ...etc
The top was knitted in stockinette with 10.5/6mm needles directly onto his belly, by sliding the last black stitch of the row onto the right needle, picking up a red stitch from the first row available of the belly, moving the black stick back over to the left above the red stitch, and then k or p2tog in stockinette. I always picked up the red stitch knitwise because I'm lazy.
It sounds way more complicated than it is, but you must 1) know what your stitches look like so you consistently pick up the same one each row and 2) be careful not to skip a belly row, since it'll end up crooked and janky if you skip one or accidentally pick up twice from the same row (bulky, lighter colour, knit stitch all helped a lot here! Do the belly first!)
This made the cool effect of stippling at the transition and meant I didn't have to sew anything together ever but it also made stuffing him HELL ON WHEELS since it was a 6+ ft tube already by the time I stuffed (I'll explain stuffing at the end)
If you do this, use circulars. Easier to deal with all the twisting and chaos once you're 3 feet in. You can just knit the sections separately and baste them at the end OR only knit them together on one side and baste the other at the end oh godammit why didn't I do that
Ok, back to the belly.
Here's a closer look at the bottom of his snoot;
Tumblr media
You can see I'm a messy increaser lmao. I did the increases in the middle so there would be a throat look, I think? That was a long time ago when I thought he would be about 4 feet of snek. Anyway, start with a small amount of stitches (looks like I was at 3?) increase row by row for the eye socket/jaw part, and then decrease after a few rows. Sometimes I knit a few rows to see what I'm working with, then trace what I have and sketch out the rest of the shape/size I'm aiming for. I did not do that here, just increased until it looked like the width I wanted and then knit a couple rows before decreasing a little for his neck.
Except snakes don't really have necks, but whatever. You should think of the belly as the BASE of the whole thing. Don't get clever trying to increase and decrease too much for shaping, I did that and it was hell when making the top. Find a stitch width past the head part which seems cuddly/about 1/3 of the total round shape you'll want to end up with after stuffing and knit that for a million years until you've attached your last red skein.
I started decreasing for his tail to end up being 1/4 of his total length. You'll be obsessively measuring the whole time because making him takes forever, so do math or just decide "its tail time!"
Just k2tog at the second to last stitch on the needle (because remember, you'll be picking up the last stitch for the top!) an odd number of rows at a time. This is where it's hard to really write a pattern because those red stitches are hidden by the construction! Ultimately, after 4-5 ft of the belly you should be familiar with your gauge and know how many stitches will make a smooth transitional taper. If you oops and decrease too many times on the same edge creating a weird angle, who cares. You'll be hiding so many sins with the top part. Once you're down to 5 stitches or so, switch to circulars or dpns and make as long of an icord as feels right to you, decreasing at some point to bind off your cord with a final total of 2 stitches.
Ok, top part. Decide which side of the belly is the inside! Or wait to see what you end up with like I did lmao.
I picked up the red snoot stitches instead of casting on and started knitting with the black yarn in reverse stockinette. Actually I changed my mind about 5 rows in to his snoot which side was going to face out, but whatever. Same thing, stockinette stitch. After 5ish rows of knitting black stitches, picking up the red stitch and knitting them together in pattern, switch stockinette directions (knit two rows, then purl, then knit etc) so his snoot is snooty.
Ok real talk, what I actually did for his head was, first, I just picked up red stitches and knitted them in pattern WITHOUT reducing to account for them, because I wanted the top curve of his head and body to be larger than the belly. Picking up without k2tog will increase each row by 1 stitch!
Then, once it was obviously a bit larger, what I did for picking up the red stitches at his mouth without increasing was:
k2tog the second and third to last black stitches, move last stitch over, pick up red stitch, move black stitch back, knit the black stitch, knit the red stitch. This looks different than the body, as you can see here:
Tumblr media
Head has black stitches interlaced with red, body just has red stitches stippling the transition. If you like the snaggly toothy look, do it that way for his face I guess! Or make it not look like trash, expecting nobody will ever see it up close but you! Lmao
I added some wrong way stitches to mark where his eyes would go (as eyebrows!) but if you don't have a good sense of how the head is coming together don't do that.
Follow along your belly increases while knitting/attaching the top, more or less. No need to mark exactly when increase/decreases happened, just try to keep the width of the back a little wider than the belly. You can increase by just not k2tog the red stitch you pick up! When you decrease, do that with the second and third stitches of the row instead of at the end, so you don't end up with a mess of k2togs always clustered together.
Also don't be stupid like I was and decide to just go nuts increasing and then frantically have to decrease unless you want him to be randomly fat in the middle ok?
Ok stuffing.
Ideally you sew his eyes on first. If you want to wait until his head is stuffed, just know you'll be trapped in the hell that I was and be VERY CAREFUL that you don't stab through the bead tube.
Start stuffing around 4-5 feet in (OR ONLY ATTACH HIM ON ONE SIDE whatever! I am so annoyed I only just NOW figured that out but I didn't have to sew anything but his eyes I GUESS) It will be impossible to travel with him after this and will make it hard to manage the turning of stockinette but anything is better than stuffing a 7ft tube. I used about 7lb of poly beads but only you know how heavy you want him.
I cut the legs off 2 pairs of tights (4 long tubes) poured just the beads into 2 of them, and mixed beads with stuffing into the other 2. Tightly tie off the open tops! Or sew them but...why
If you don't care about seeing the stuffing through the stitches, then intersperse stuffing around and between your tubes of beads. If you do care, gods be with you because I rolled the stuffing up into a very long piece of velvet and shoved it in there but nope, nobody should do that. I don't know why they don't make black poly stuffing.
His eyes are 48mm vintage buttons so I can't give you a link for them. If you're trying to make a similar sized snake fren you'll probably want to use 35mm-50mm. Nobody sells large enough safety/snap eyes in yellow cat eyes, as far as I can tell after searching for a couple of weeks :(
OK THAT'S ALL tell me if you want better close ups or anything or if you'd like this in a real pattern?? I have never written a pattern. But I might in the name of snekCrowleys for the world!

2023 sewing projects - part 2 details at the end of the post (click here for part 1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note: I work for a fabric shop so I get most of my fabrics fabric for free as well as some patterns as I have to be wearing our products at work (I definitely consider it a perk). Without this job I would not be sewing as much and I'd probably be buying most of my fabric second hand or on sale as I used to do before. I also sometimes sew during work hours so keep that in mind if you're also a sewist, go at your own rythm 💜 Although I have basic training in pattern drafting I prefer to sew from pre-existing patterns to save on time (as i have to regularly make myself some new clothes for work) and discover new techniques and styles - but I often change stuffs to adapt the designs to my style.
1 - same pants as in part 1 but this time in a double wool crepe from italy (i found it in a charity shop and the border says so in italian - it's absolutely gorgeous, i found 3 pieces of it at once for like 10 € each. I made a dress in the first piece, then these pants in the second)
2 - dream dress in a coton double gauze - the gingham is sized differently on each side of the fabric so i had fun deciding where to put which but i had less fun gathering all of that fabric (the nice thing is it's super light and i get a lot of compliments on it) - the pattern has a short sleeves version that i'd like to make for this summer
3 - a simple tee made in ribbing fabric (usually used for the collar and wrist pieces on sweater) - the pants were made last year but they're the same pattern as the pink ones in part 1, just the slim leg version!
4 - another super quick make in a modal fabric (it's so soft and nice to work with), the last one i made in june before my tendinitis stopped me from touching my machine for a couple of months (and tbh i maybe shouldn't have made this one lol)
5 - first project back on the sewing machine during the summer holidays, very quick one in the remnants of the linen-viscose blend i used to make the matching set in part 1 (can you tell i love this fabric and this colour?)
6 - a mini retro skirt in coton gabardine - the skirt was made to be short and as i'm taller than the average height used in patterns i lengthened it but almost not enough as i ended up having to do a single fold of 1cm to hem the bottom instead of the usual 1 + 2/3 lol
7 - ok so this one...i went in with no pattern and not much thoughts tbh i took this striped fabric and decided to turn thop of the piece into a plain colour by folding it repeatedly so that the folds would reveal the secondary colour by opening - it was super long to make especially because i just cut straight on the side instead of taking into account the fact that I am very much not straight from the waist down to the hips so i had to do a little fixing on the side seams once all the folding and assembling was done before i could put in the zipper. I was very proud of this skirt when I finished it but I've only worn it twice since then (september lol) because it's absolutely awful to iron it (and although i stitched every single fold on one side i still have to press them all one by one)
8 - these curtains are made in a wax fabric given to me by my grandmother who got it from a church friend who brought it from her homecountry in Africa (can't remember where that is, sorry) - they're lined in a dark navy coton so they can be more occulting (the same used at the bottom for the ruffles as the piece of fabric was too small for my curtains to go all the way down). I did this project in an evening so the inside finishes are very rough and i didn't even iron them but i was hellbent on finishing them on the day I started (after months of just having the fabric draped over the window as a makeshift curtain) - it doesn't show too well on the pictures but the darker yellow is actually gold!

This is a Spider-Gwen jumpsuit I made!
Happy Halloween! I made this bodysuit and I'm super happy with it!
I'm gonna break down step by step what i did but I'm NOT a professional cosplayer or seamstress or fashion designer or anything. This is just to document what I've done in case it could help somebody else!
Materials used:
Scuba hex white (2 yards, available at Joann or Cosplay Fabrics International)
Scuba hex black (2 yards, same as previous links)
Web pattern on Spoonflower (make sure to order it printed on spandex!)
Three zippers (one for the bodysuit, two for the arms)
7mm snap buttons for the collar
Wig from @ardawigscanada so I don't actually have to style it as I am lazy and bad at wig styling
Step One: PATTERNING
Tumblr media
I used several patterns as a base:
Yaya Han's Ultimate Bodysuit Pattern for the general design (McCall's M7217)
The Yaya Han pattern with a baseball jersey shirt for the arm sleeves (McCall's M7554)
McCall's M7486 for the hood (or you can trace a hood from a sweater of your choice)
Step Two: DRAFTING
First I tested out the bodysuit pattern solely on its own on some cheap stretchy fabric just to make sure it fits. I find that their smallest size fits me well as I am definitely a very stringy person. But the bodysuit was a bit short so i needed to extend the torso parts.
Then I trace out new patterns and draw the Spider-Gwen design on top of them, and cut.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!!
Tumblr media
I wasn't sure if that would fit me either so I made ANOTHER mockup of the pattern I drafted out of scrap fabric (basically the web pattern I ordered but in the wrong size because I am dumb and I don't check things). Turns out this was a GOOD IDEA because this came out too loose! The fabrics I got were veeeery expensive so I'd rather be safe than sorry!
Step Three: COMMENCE SEWING! (AND HAIR PULLING)
After making the adjustments to my paper patterns, I held my breath and started on the bodysuit proper. Hoping that I don't fuck everything up.
I started with the easy stuff, which were the front panels:
Tumblr media
So far so good! I didn't use any special types of stitches, just regular straight stitch. I read that other cosplayers may use zigzag stitches for stretchy fabric but I have very little sewing experience and I do NOT trust my sewing machine at all. Just do what you're comfortable with and you'll be fine!
And important note! Make sure you stretch your fabric slightly while sewing! It's supposed to be a stretchy suit after all!
Back panels were a pain, but I got it done... there was a lot of thread pulling and hair pulling and questioning my life choices involved.
Tumblr media
then I sewed the sides together! The white and black parts don't align perfectly but you can't really tell in this picture 😅
Tumblr media
After that, I sewed the web parts onto the sleeves and the sleeves to the shoulders. That part went surprisingly smoothly so I'm just going to move on. Sorry for the lack of images but there's a photo limit on this website.
Step 3.1 Gloves!!!
Okay so I got a separate pattern for the gloves and also left them to basically the last minute to finish as they're so goddamn difficult!
This tutorial helped me out so much!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see in these pictures, my first attempt came out a bit too loose. But it was an easy fix. I just had to take in the thumb and the pinky and it fit reasonably well on my hand.
And I also installed zippers on the seams of my sleeves so I can easily remove my gloves while still keeping them attached to the jumpsuit. This is why this project needed three zippers.
Tumblr media
Step 3.2 Collar
And finally, the collar. This almost made me gave up on the entire project.
Right after I sewed the hood on, I was well on my way to finishing, or so I thought!
Because I was combining two different patterns with two different types of collars, I needed to figure out how to make them fit together. there were many MANY failed attempts.
Eventually what I did was I cut out two curved trapezoid shaped things out of the white scuba fabric, sewed that to the top of where the hood connects to the bodysuit, and then sewed the collar on top of that. This made sure that the fabric actually conforms to my neck area.
I placed down a t-shirt to trace the curvy trapezoids, and also make sure you measure your neck area appropriately!
CLOSING THOUGHTS
So yeah that's basically what I did. I admit I was too lazy to dye my flats in order to make her ballet flats but I'm sure that's easy compared to this mess! Anyway my Converses worked in a pinch.
Thank you for reading! Good luck and Happy Halloween!

Nameless Bard Cosplay Breakdown
Why? Why not (I want to share my creation especially with seeing so many tiktok cosplays of them, but never any guides/posts about how people. did stuff for them /lh)
I..don't know how well screen-readers will handle such a long post. I hope it works out okay.
Note: final image does not have alt image text at the time of posting, but I intend to add it later on
add alt text to images (all minus final since that would be a picture from the morning of)
Cloak
This thing is LONG. I'm about 5'1/155 cm, and this thing goes down to my KNEES (& big hood too!)
Tumblr media
The inside fabric is from old off-white/beige bedsheets, and the outside fabric was from joann's (link).
I used a pattern from Aliceincosplayland on Etsy (link) (note: you don't need to buy a pattern to make a cloak- I bought it because of the different options between the lengths & hood sizes) ; for mine, I used the knee-length pattern & the larger hood size.
The large covered hook & eye also from joann's (link).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
POCKETS! There's 2 small pockets close to the edges, & a bigger one I added this year to fit things like my PDM, testing kit, battery pack, etc. The smaller pockets have wooden buttons & button holes, the bigger one has a snap w/ a wooden button hot-glued on top because I didn't wanna tinker with the button hole foot.
Windblume Flower
Tumblr media
I forgot what I traced but I made patterns for the leaves and petals & used a tutorial to make the tassels with red embroidery thread.
It's made of felt, hot glue, and I hand-sewed some bits like the button in the middle. It's also removable & fastens via safety pin sewed into the back.
Shirt
I gotta be honest, I forgot to work on it and tried to finish it about a week before the con. It looked like it was going well, but little errors made it look not up to the standard I was holding myself to and I hated it. I didn't even add the finishing touches with the shirt's collar's closure, or the ruffles on the cuffs of the sleeves. Instead, I'm using the original shirt I got off amazon last year (link), which I'm glad I kept intact when trying t make the second version's pattern.
I wanted to make another variation that was closer to his canonical outfit and was not made out of that plasticky fabric material (not that it was uncomfy, I just thought it'd be better for a convention center with a lotta people). The arm holes were a bit too big, the neck hole was a bit snug, and I botched the collar almost entirely. Lesson learned, make mockups and do not procrastinate on your projects until the week before the event.
I have the picture of it in this post.
If it counts, last year I made a slight alteration to the original shirt in which I sewed part of the slit in the top so it didn't go as deep. That's about it, honestly.
Shorts
Tumblr media
Honestly, these weren't too bad overall. I cut the triangle panels out of white fabric, used embroidery thread for the criss-cross bits, and hand-sewed said panels onto the shorts.
It's great 'cus it has pockets and it's adjustable with the drawstring on the inside.
Wig
This fucker (part 2)
I combined a wig off Amazon (link) with wefts from hair extensions (link; though it comes with two I used just under one weft for both briads) to get the general shape
I went into detail on how I redid it here (also where the pictures are) but to sum it up: washed out hairspray/gel from last year, trimmed & rebraided the longer strands, used hairspray to do the bangs & gel to fix the ends.
Belt
Tumblr media
I had this old brown fabric from an old sewing class project that I used. I measured the length by putting the rest of the costume on and using a measuring tape, overlapping a little so there was room to add the snaps for a closure. I think I used the trim from an old bedsheet and put it on either of the longer ends, then painted it yellow to match the bard's. Semi-reliable snap closure sewn in later, then boom, belt!
Lyre Prop
Tumblr media
I forgot what I traced to make this pattern too, but I made it out of felt, essentially a stuffed toy. The little bar bit at the top is a separate pattern piece, as I tried making it all into one and was unable to turn it inside out. I forgot what kind of cord/string I used for the lyre strings, I just remember using mod podge to stiffen it as a finishing touch.
I used it last year as a prop, but I ended up just carrying it around so it might be best to leave home unless you plan to take a lotta pictures.
Miscellaneous Parts
Corset Belt: bought off amazon (link) ; It's comfy for the most part. liked the idea of a faux corset as opposed to the vest
Boots: last year I used a different set of boots that I've had for years, this year I'm using slightly newer boots that I got off my brother since they're small on him. They're timberlands I think? A li'l bit of height, lace-up, slight heel, feels 3% more badass /j
Makeup: I... know very little about makeup. I highly doubt the bard used makeup back then (/j). With that in mind, I really just use black eyeshadow & an eyebrow brush to fill my brows in and that's it. I use an old eyeshadow palette, but I also have an eyeshadow stick from the dollar store that works if you wet it slightly (mostly because it's a year old and is dried out by now..probably).
Wisp Prop: Touched on in this post, I like to take along one of my wisp dolls- the second one I've ever made, specifically. Made with my own personal pattern, he's easy to tuck away into a smaller pocket with just his head sticking out. I'll never forget the excitement of the Bennett and Fischl cosplayers I ran into last year when I took the wisp out to show them. 100/10, easily my favorite prop. The only real change made to him is that he has glow in the dark paint on his eyes, which probably won't do much in a convention setting but I still think it's cool.
Sword Prop: Very unnecessary & impromptu, but also very fun. At last year's con there was a vendor selling foam game/anime weapons and I got a foam Freedom Sworn. At the time of writing this out, I'm unsure if I will be taking it with me this year or not, since I can't exactly store it under my cloak when I'm not holding it.
Final Reveal!
(like I said at the top, this image is the only one w/out alt image text; I'll add it later)
(face scribbled over for comfort reasons)

Hi! if request are open may I request a fluffy headcanon for Albert Moriarty in which his s/o that is a seamstress teaches him how to weave/knit sweaters. (Since in the manga is shown that he sew some for his brothers and the others) and her s/o being proud of him, please.
Thank you!
Seamstress!S/O Headcanons
Tumblr media
Albert James Moriarty
Tumblr media
When he first met you, he thought your work was one of the best ones he's seen.
He always loved the suits you would make and sometimes tried to stay in your shop a little longer just to spend some more time with you.
When you two got together, he would wear your works with pride.
You had to make Albert stop wearing the cardigan you made him for Christmas when summer rolled around.
Since then, you'd gift him an item for each season for him.
He asked if you could teach him how to knit, wanting to give a gift to his brothers and everyone, and you were ecstatic.
He noticed how excited you would talk about choosing which yarn to choose, what color combinations work the best, and what pattern he could do...
He loved the way you would talk about your passions and could hear you tell him what inspired you with each design you came up with.
While you teach him, you'd spend peaceful afternoons and evenings together knitting.
He loves spending the evenings sitting next to each other by the fireplace as you knit.
He'd be a little bashful asking you so many questions, but you always reassure him it's okay.
When he made a mistake, you would reassure him it was okay and give tips or teach him how to fix it.
He may not be as skilled as you, but he loves the proud look you have whenever he finishes a section or a project.
You would praise him for the things he did well and constructive criticism where he needed it.
He found it both sweet and ironic when he caught you wearing his gifts when it was obvious you were sweating buckets underneath.
Everyone noticed his improvement when he gave his gifts and gave praise.
You had just a proud expression the whole time. Everyone joked that you were prouder than Albert, but you were just so happy for him.
You two would try to surprise each other, hiding your materials and knitting in different rooms.
You two were always excited to surprise each other with your gifts.
Knitting now became an activity you two always do.

Hey, it’s the anon from the Jett cuddling request ! First of all, I really love the cuddling post ! I was thinking, can you maybe write about how Jett (I can’t help it), and other characters you want, reacts when the reader get wounded during a mission. Of course feel free to skip and don’t forget to eat, drink and sleep !
First I want to announce once again- I AM NOT DEAD. I AM SIMPLY AN OVERWHELMED STEM MAJOR. With that said, I have made a ton of progress on requests and a few WIPs I've been stewing on, so expect some posts from me this upcoming weekend.
Second, I adoooore a good hurt/comfort scenario. it's iterally one of my favorite tropes in fanficiton. I also adore Jett LMAOOOO, so I had a lot of fun coming up with ideas for this request! Thank you for submitting, Anon(^v^)

Close Call - Jett
For her eleventh birthday, Jett's grandmother paid for a year of sewing classes for her. The older woman was an avid seamstress herself and was ecstatic that Jett was finally old enough to begin learning the art of the craft. She already had a mountain of ideas for lazy afternoons the two could spend together- prepping squares for quilting, trips together to the craft store to purchase bolts of fabric, pouring over hanbok patterns until they found one Jett liked. Jett always loved watching her work on clothes in her studio, so she had little doubt the girl would love learning to sew herself. She was absolutely over the moon, but there was just one tiny flaw in her master plan.
Jett hated every second of it.
For fifty two Saturdays, from four to six o’clock, Jett felt more like she was marching herself off to war rather than heading to the community center. She constantly pricked her thumb when sewing something by hand, couldn’t remember to include seam allowance to save her life, and almost always managed to jam the sewing machine after only a few stitches. Whether the instructor was running to fetch her a spare thimble or hurriedly untangling the thread of Jett’s machine, the annoyed girl found herself glancing at a calendar on the wall, certain that month would be her last.
Never again, she’d vow to herself.
I’m never doing this again.
And yet every week, every Saturday until that year was finally up, she found herself coming back. Fortunately, during that time, her grandmother found peace in the fact that her grandaughter simply wasn’t destined to follow in her footsteps.
Jett thought she’d finally rid herself of sewing forever, sticking to eagerly watching her grandmother work on new projects but never actively participating herself.
In the present, however, Jett once more found herself with a needle in hand. It wasn’t pin-straight like the ones she used to work with, though. It was instead sloped into a soft C shape, the medical-grade nylon threaded in it tinted a slight pink. She gingerly dropped it in the steel tray that came with the med kit, hardly registering the metallic ‘tink’ it made when it landed. Her gaze was fixed to her handiwork in front of her, eyes following every crooked line she’d sewn you back together with.
“Oh god,” she croaked quietly to herself, her voice quivering.
“Oh my god- It’s… um, it’s bad, isn’t it?”
Her hands trembled as she examined the shoddy job, her fingers brushing over the new stitches across your side as feather light as possible. Your skin was pinched together awkwardly in some areas,  the spacing between each stitch not nearly as uniform or neat as Sage’s were. The spots at each site where the needle passed through were slowly turning an angry red, clearly irritated at her attempts to clean and patch your wound. She could almost hear every whimper and pinched inhale you made with each incision, her shoulders visibly tensing with each sound that echoed back to her.
She should’ve known something was off as soon as you made it back to the carrier. Your complexion had gone visibly ashen and your skin seemed to have lost its usual warmth. It was such an odd thing, watching you shiver while also sweat profusely at the same time. You were extremely ginger with your movements, too, wincing whenever you shifted in your seat and pinching your eyes shut after every breathy laugh whenever Jett cracked a nervous joke.
It all happened so fast. Just when Jett noticed the blood soaking the side of your uniform, the red staining your hand when you finally peeled it away from your side, your eyes were already rolling back and the hold on your gun went slack.
Her only saving grace, the only thing keeping her from completely loosing her cool, was the unsteady up-down of your chest and your drastically tempered blood loss. She tried to steady her own breaths, moving to run a red-stained hand through her white hair before she caught herself. She froze, her fingers just grazing the top of her head. She hastily brought her hand down and awkwardly wiped it on her shirt. A small part of her knew it wouldn't wash out very easily, but she couldn’t bring herself to care.
“No, it’s not. It’s fine, it’s fine.”
She found herself smoothing back a strand of tangled hair behind your ear, expecting a small wince or a soft groan from you. Her heart skipped several beats when you gave zero reaction to the touch. Jett swallowed hard.
“You’ll be fine. Or better than last time, at least.”
“I have to agree with you there. Bullet holes are much harder to patch up,” Brimstone called out suddenly from his spot in the cockpit, clearly having heard everything she said.
“You did a good job. Sage is already waiting on the loading dock for us. She can handle things from there.”
Jett cleared her throat, but even still, her next words came out hoarse.
“How much longer?”
Brimstone met her gaze briefly in the reflection of the carrier’s canopy, his blue eyes flashing to your still form on the carrier floor before fixing forward once again.
“Six minutes at most. I’m going as fast as I can, kid.”
By the way Jett's face fell, he might as well have told her it’d be another eternity. She situated herself further on the floor, sitting cross legged with your head pulled into her lap. She kept a laser sharp focus on your breathing, occasionally glancing at the watch on her wrist.
“Five minutes, twenty-eight seconds,” she told herself.
If Brimstone noticed the way she occasionally bent down to brush her lips against your forehead, or the way her thumbs rubbed soothing circles on the tops of your shoulders, he opted against scolding her for it. Frankly though, she didn't think she would give a damn if he did.
“Never again,” she murmured against your temple, her vision growing blurry.
“You’re never making me do this again.”
~
You weren't sure what time it was. You weren't sure where you were, why your throat was so dry, or if you were standing or sitting down. You weren't even sure if you could open your eyes. Despite it all- the sudden awareness of a blanket being pulled further over your body, the foreign ache in your side with every breath, and the seemingly distant sound of metal chair legs scraping against tile- your mouth was moving before you could help yourself.
"That's what you said last time."
Your surroundings seemed to go abruptly still, the silence making your ears prick in a way that told you the room wasn't always so quiet. It was only interrupted by the hushed, sharp inhale that sounded from your left side. A pair of warm hands circled around your own, the usual feeling of fingerless gloves replaced by soft palms. You cracked a barely-there smile, knowing for sure it was your girlfriend sitting beside you.
"Huh?" Jett asked.
"You're never making me do this again," you quoted, the last words you registered hearing still fresh on your mind.
"That's what you told me last time."
"Oh... the carrier."
You could hear Jett sit forward in her chair, the sudden weight of her elbows making the bed dip slightly as she leaned closer to you.
"I was being serious back there. You're not allowed to let yourself get hurt like that anymore, okay? I can't-"
She let out a pinched sigh.
"I can't keep seeing you like that."
Guilt settled heavily in your stomach. Slowly but surely, you managed to open your eyes and blink a few times. It was like your brain was covered in molasses, even the littlest tasks requiring maximum effort. Had breathing not been an automatic bodily function, you might have been in some serious trouble.
Your vision swam as you slowly tilted your head in Jett's direction, a soft exhale escaping your lips as her face finally came into focus. She was exhausted, if the dark circles under her eyes and the disheveled state of her hair were anything to go by. You still found yourself longing to trace the lines of her face and tell her how pretty she was.
The ghost of a smile graced her lips as you attempted to give her a wave. The most you managed was a lazy raise of your hand. As if she could read your mind, she was speaking again.
"You're on some serious pain meds right now. They might make you feel a little off, and probably a little tired, too."
"I see."
It took you a lot longer than you'd care to admit to lower your hand, hating the way her brows pinched together in concern as you shakily rested your arm on your stomach. You hated to make her worry at all, but these past few missions, it seemed that was all you were capable of doing. Your eyes fluttered shut again as you took in a deep breath.
"I'm sorry, Sunwoo. I thought it wasn't that big of a deal and I didn't want to freak you out over something small. I figured I'd find Skye when we got back and that would be that, but clearly-"
You jerked your head awkwardly in the direction of the infirmary's sign.
"-I was wrong."
Jett was silent for a beat, one of her thumbs rubbing thoughtful circles on the back of your hand. After a little while, the room was echoing with her quiet voice.
"I can't deny I hate seeing you hurt, but I'd much rather know ahead of time instead of finding out when it gets bad."
"I wasn't shot this time though, only stabbed. That's an improvement. I think."
She weakly chuckled. You gave her hand a squeeze, the sudden weightlessness of your body telling you that you were moments away from slipping back into sleep. Try as you might, though, you simply couldn't peel your eyes back open.
"You won't have to worry about it again, Sunwoo," you words were slurring, but that didn't make them any less sincere.
"I promise. I'll be more careful."
"Thank you."
You hardly registered the press of her lips against your cheek, your mouth moving ahead of your brain.
"I'll stitch myself up next time. Just give me the stuff. My work will outshine Sage's, I swear."
"I believe you, jagiya."
Jett stayed where she was long after your rambling had fallen silent and your breathing had gone slow and deep, your eyes moving beneath your eyelids as you dreamt. A familiar weight settled square on her shoulders, a mixture of determination and dread as she thought about the next mission coming up in a few weeks. It reminded her of the feeling she used to get on Saturday evenings, when she toyed with the lock on her bike before finally working up the courage to wheel it out of the garage. There was always a moment of hesitation, a fumble of her key.
But she always followed through because it was for someone she loved.
And just as she was sure to have a few bandaids in her pocket so she wouldn't have to nurse a pricked finger on the way home, she was already making a mental note to restock the carrier with more medical supplies.
"A fairy looses its wings every time I have to open a med kit, I swear," Jett grumbled, her gaze fixed on the way her fingers intertwined with yours.
"But if I can fly without them, certainly they can manage, too."
