A Czech fairytale, english translation
I’ve been thinking about making another fantasy story and picked up my fairy tale book to find some inspiration. And lo and behold, I did. So much that I decided to find justice for Liliana, the third sister but that’s for another post. Btw, this one is translated from Polish, which was translated from Czech, so in case the Czech original is found, stuff may not add up. Also, this is hot off the press translation, expect some mistakes.
Janeczek
Now, I shall tell you about Janeczek as you might not have heard about him yet. There was once a coal man, poor, as that’s how it usually goes. He did have a seven-year-old son, Janeczek. The coal man had long ago become a widower and he had to take care of his son alone. The boy, however, didn’t like to learn that much , he’d rather look after grazing goats, and he very much liked strolling around the forest. And that would be all. Years passed and Janeczek grew up to be a comely young lad. One day, as usually, he brought the goats to the forest, though never mind where to, so that he didn’t even come back home for dinner.
And the goats, as goats do, sauntered around and searched for something delicious to nibble at, cause - as you know - these fussy creatures wouldn’t eat just anything random. In the meantime, Janeczek made a little garden out of twigs, planted flowers there, brought water in his cap and lovingly watered the flowers. Then, an idea popped up in his mind, as to search in the forest for the magical flower, which he heard about a little bit. Believe it, that such things do happen! As such, the goats followed the goats, while he wandered deeper into the forest. He looked, and there, some gray birdie flew out of the copse, as if to say something. Flying closer, then again a bit back, as if wanting to lead Janeczek somewhere. How strange! What could the birdie want? Well, well, Janeczek followed him and that’s how he came to a place, which had some kind of opening. Could this be a cave? No idea, as to what it could be! Janeczek looked around, and no way nor path in sight. Not knowing what now, he started to curse: “To hell with this birdie wretched folk! Now, I have absolutely no ide where I am!
In that moment fluttered the birdie, almost directly under his nose, with a twig in its beak. After throwing the twig right before his legs, the birdie then flew into a crack in the rock, where it sat down, and well it sits. All while chirping somewhat quaintly. Our nice Janeczek understood the birdie’s advice, took the twig, hit the rock three times with it, and then the rock immediately cracked open. A moment he looked in stupor at what was going on, but then he plucked up courage and went inside, because boys like him always want to investigate everything. At first he saw nothing due to the sudden darkness, he only felt that he was in an unknown place. A moment later the place lit up and then he found himself surrounded by plentiful of wonderful flowers, such flowers, which in all his life he had never seen before. Amongst these flowers scurried around many little midgets and none of them was bigger than a half-litre jug. Swarming like in an anthill, everyone was busy with some kind of work. Janeczek looked upon this breathlessly, his eyes popping out from his wonder. Way off in the distance there stood a glass castle, so sparkling and shiny, that it hurt his eyes. All this took a long moment, when suddenly a girl appeared in front of him, as if rising from the ground. Her whole head was covered in gold. She asked Janeczek:
“What are you looking for at our place?”
That made him even more surprised and only after a while he answered:
“Oh, well, looking for luck” Because only such a thought came to his mind.
“In that case, follow me and you will get something. We have something for you”, the girl said. Then, she led him by his hand and as they were walking together, Janeczek asked: “What’s your name?”
“They call me Celinka. I have two other sisters and I am the one who restores health.”
“Could it be that you hath sick ones here?” Janeczek asked in surprise.
“How could it be! We don’t even know something like that. We only help those, there, above.”
“How is that possible?”
“Don’t mind it! Here, you have a small grain. If you need anything, let it fall to the ground and I shall appear immediately. I advise you strongly, guard it properly!” Having said that, she gave him a grain the size of an almond.
After a while, walking together like that, they came to the second garden. And here were lots of flowers, but even more beautiful than the ones before. In this garden ruled Celinka’s older sister, whose name was Milenka. She, in turn, could bring back eyesight. She bustled around in her garden, filling up the entire place with her own self: she fluttered on a glass twig and spilled out pearls everywhere. And these shone so much, that they looked like fiery sparks, as if someone had scattered stars. There were so many lying around that one could pick them up in baskets. Janeczek liked these pearls very much. Oh, if only she could give me one as a memento. And so, Milenka threw him one pearl. When he held it in his hand, she spoke:
“Be careful, guard it properly! If you ever need me, drop it to the ground and I shall appear immediately.”
Now, Milenka joined the two and went with them. Shortly after, laughter and singing reached their ears.
“What is it? I hear singing!” Janeczek spoke up.
“We’re going to our oldest sister. Her name is Liliana and is the lady of the treasures.”
When they reached their destination, he started to look around, curious about the treasures. In the meantime, Lilianka plucked out a whithered rose, gave it to him and said:
“Take it and put it into your pocket. I give this rose to you as a memento.”
Just as he put the flower into his pocket, something thrummed. At that, the pocket became so heavy that he had to hold it up somehow.
The girls showed him around here and there but then a great longing for his neck of the woods overcame his mind.  And he longed for nothing more than to be at home again.
“Surely you don’t like it here,” all three asked at once.
“I wouldn’t say it,” he refuted, “but I would like to be at home now.”
“Well, we’re not going to hold you here any longer. Return! But diligently guard the things we gave you!”
Suddenly darkness filled the surroundings. Janeczek didn’t even know how it came to be and in this moment he found himself at the entrance to the cave in that rock. In the next moment he was outside the cave. The gray birdie, that waited there for him, shot up and flew before him, showing the way back. Janeczek jauntily ran after him and soon was back home. He was sure his father would be overjoyed, when he showed the money. He looked and saw, the door was locked. No coal man in sight. The goats disappeared as well. Maybe the father went to look for the son in the forest?
Janeczek was glad that he was in the ordinary world and at home. The house, however, when he took a closer look, seemed to be very poor and empty.
What awaits me? he wondered To live in poverty till death? Then, he decided: Oh, why not, let’s go out into the world.
Honestly speaking, can’t blame him for that decision.
Janeczek tied his money into a knot and so he went. And as befitting a wanderer - with a stick in his hand.
He wandered and wandered, from one city to another he ventured. He stopped by for a bit to listen to various news and rumours. That way he dropped by the capital, where the king resided in. Everything was covered by a black shroud, a mourning atmosphere everywhere, like before a grand funeral.
He asked a random person passing by, what was going on. To which he was told: “Well, we are in deep mourning. The princess is very sick and there is no doctor who could help her. Poor gal, probably won’t live for long.”
Janeczek, having heard that, thought: Maybe I should go up to the king? Maybe the grain would help? He pondered for a bit, then took courage and went in the direction of the castle stairs. There he introduced himself as a doctor from India. The guards let him through and that’s how he ended up in the castle. He was then led to the king.
“Ah, my dear golden young lad, I myself don’t know anymore what to do. Such people like you came here about fity. I doubt if you could make a difference. But seeing how you came from so far away, try. If you manage to heal her, I won’t be saddened to part with even half of the kingdom.” Janeczek was led to the chamber, where the princess was lying. Oh, you people, what a sad sight it was! It couldn’t be any worse, she looked like suffering incarnate. Janeczek asked everyone to leave the chamber as not to interrupt him. When he was alone with the princess, he dropped the grain onto the ground. The grain barely touched the ground, when the golden girl Celinka appeared, asking quietly; “Why are you summoning me?”
“If you can, heal the princess!” he pleaded.
Celinka came up to the bed, took the princess’ hand, squeezed three times and kissed so lightly as if stroking a flower. Before he knew it, she was long gone. The princess moved and tried to stand up. She felt so light, she tried to leave the bed. Only that she did it in a manner as if she didn’t recognize anything around her, as if she was blind. Janeczek quickly took out the pearl, dropped it to the ground, thump - and immediately Milenka, the second sister, stood before him, asking just as quietly: “Why are you summoning me?”
“The princess is, admittedly, healthy, but due to the sickness she lost her eyesight. Could you help her?” he pleaded.
Milenka went up to the princess, moistened her thumb with her salvia and three times rubbed the temples and eyes of the blind, three times here and then there. Before he knew it, Milenka was long gone and he didn’t make it in time to thank her.
The princess immediately opened her eyes. She looked and saw, before her stood a beautiful youngster, Janeczek. Out of joy the words were stuck in her throat. But what were word needed for! The news of her recovery immediately spread around the castle. Everyone raced back and forth, lots of commotion and joy going on, but the most happy out of all was the king. When he calmed down a bit, he said:
“There is not a thing in this whole world that I would deny you, since what you’ve done is worth more than the whole kingdom”
He took their hands, interwined them and added:
“Dear children, live in good luck till the last of your days.”
And that’s how it ended, as it couldn’t be any better. There was a wedding, so grand that no one has seen so far and wouldn’t see as it lasted a whole month. When it did, however, end, they took back the old coal man and lived happily ever after for very long years.
The End.

unpopular opinion for this area of tumblr, beware+also abuse talk warning
admittedly, all the super casual bashing of saikis dad makes me really uncomfortable, like i dont totally disagree but i wish we didnt just all do it in the middle of other completely innocent headcanoning 😭 its never tagged or warned..
my personal opinions on kuniharu are not as extreme as some are on here, like i think he sucks but i dont think hes a genuinely bad person, he was just thrown into a situation he didnt know how to handle.. he reminds me of those parents who prepare to have a baby and get pregnant on purpose, but then the baby has a disability and suddenly, everything changes.. because they didnt prepare for this unlikely scenario, but it happened anyway, and now they have to figure out where to go from here.. kurumi and kuniharu BOTH made mistakes and didnt handle their genius/psychic kids in ways they shouldve, but its because they werent prepared for it

here's how it goes:
everyone spends valentine's day in DEEP denial. tubbo isn't dead, he CAN'T be. when they die they come back, that's how it is, how it's ALWAYS been. the island is hell but at least fatalities don't stick, except in specific cases and all of them in the same white shells. of course philza jokes, he's thinking about tubbo, he can't stop. he's expecting tubbo to jump out at any moment, he's expecting to go to fobo and see tubbo hidden in the basement throwing darts at a picture of fit and pac looking at each other, he's expecting to go back to the dungeon and the body is gone (he hopes). tubbo's not dead. he can't die. none of them can, just the eggs.
(it never takes this long to come back; he knows something is wrong)
here's how it goes:
tubbo tells the kids "i'm on my last life." the eggs have always had lives. i don't think some of them have ever understood that the players have infinite chances, with their insistence on protecting their caretakers from deaths like their caretakers do for them, charging back into the eye worker war, refusing to back out of a dangerous dungeon before their parents do, wanting to protect. i don't know if they understand that to the players, death is like spit in the face: unpleasant, sure, but no big deal.
tubbo tells the kids "i'm on my last life" and of course they believe him. death is their constant companion, no more than two doors down. some eggs are used to it being a breath away.
here's how it goes:
tubbo is dead. the children mourn him. the players are scared. defiant. they always are. who among them has died? dan, missing; spreen, gone; maximus... well there was no body, no announcement, surely-
(how long did it take pierre to accept it? to realize it? to take down the missing person posters? not a day. not a day.)
juanaflippa died and there was a court case to save her. bobby died and the whole server journeyed to save him. when is the last time the players have taken death lying down?
here's how it goes:
tubbo dies, and he dies unloved (fit's arm is stretched out to save him). he dies without purpose (sunny is there, she's waiting, she knows he won't move). he dies and no one cares (chayanne refuses to leave, his godfather, he failed his-)
here's how it goes:
the valentine's party is so loud but too quiet. there's a name in the air, even when no one is saying it
"wow sure is good tubbo isn't here" phil says (he's said this before, he'll say it again, but isn't it strange how many times? perhaps even he doesn't believe it. perhaps he's trying to convince himself.)
here's how it goes:
a creature with too many faces comes. it tells them the truth they won't face. tubbo is gone.
quesadilla island says, "not for long"

Not every student using GPT is cheating
while there are obvious problems with using GPT to cheat or "do your homework" or whatever, it doesn't exactly seem accurate to reduce all "students using GPT" to just that. that's a bit like reducing google to just the search results for "2024 exam sheet answer key"
the reductiveness is especially annoying because there are problems even when you try to use it in a constructive way! for example asking it for guidance in a subject you're struggling with may lead it to give false or outdated information in the same way that a human-written website or book might.
so it's not just "idiots wasting their education" but also students that are trying to find information that doesn't appear to be available anywhere else, or who are struggling with something in a way that's difficult to search, who are very frustrated.
for an analogy imagine a foreign language student in 2003 getting absolutely ripped into for 'using babelfish to write an essay'... but they only used it to translate a single word, because the word they needed wasn't in their textbook. was the student wrong to do this? who knows! the answer depends on a lot of missing context!
that isn't to say no cheaters exist, or that students don't have an obligation to use more trustworthy human-written sources, it's just that there are shades of gray to keep in mind when it comes to general usage moving forward. Not everyone is a Lazy Gen-Z Wasting Their Education, but not everyone is a Pure Innocent Cinnamon Roll either. everybody could just use a bit more grace and slack.

Unpopular opinion: you can enjoy Andor AND the other Star Wars shows at the same time. Stories are great in that they are unique - not everyone will like every story, but every story isn’t meant for everyone. It’s okay to be respectfully critical, but you never know how a story could be impacting someone’s life.

It’s very insane to me just exactly how quickly people are turning on Gypsy Rose. I’ve seen tweet after tweet with millions of likes talking how she’s untrustworthy and manipulative and she “convinced some poor boy” to murder her mum for her and how the fact that she’s going on a press tour to finally actual talk about her own story without show producers and the suchlike makes her a bad person. Li,e it’s actually insane. I’ve seen so many stories about people who’ve killed their abusers and rapists and everyone supports them so why is she so different? This literally can’t be how you all would seriously treat victims of abuse who were so desperate that they had to kill their abusers, right?

...Q running in an election, which he was completely allowed to do, during which he played 100% by Wilbur's rules and won fairly according to said rules, means that getting abused by his boss was his own fault?
Yeah your views are definitely scuffed. You don't have to sympathize with a character you don't like but holy shit
Perhaps fault isn’t the right word. Just to clarify, I didn’t mean it was his fault for being abused, not saying anyone deserves that. So, I didn’t mean like he asked for it or like it is karma or comeuppance for running in the election. And by no means am I saying he was wrong to do so in the first place and whether or not he followed c!Wilbur’s rules is irrelevant. So perhaps comparing that with exile is unfair to c!Quackity, after all c!Tommy did provoke Dream and there’s not necessarily evidence for c!Quackity provoking c!Schlatt into that behavior. But at the end of the day, it is a result of his own actions. It is a consequence of his own actions whether or not it was intended or deserved. He chose to side with c!Schlatt so he could win even though it’s not like c!Schlatt was necessarily hiding his true colors, and he chose to stay. Did he know he was going to be abused, did he chose to be abused, did he deserve being abused. No. Of course not. But it happened because of the choices he made and he could’ve always made different choices to escape that. Actions just have consequences whether good or bad, you pay them or someone else does, whether intentional or not. - I forget an umbrella and I get wet and I get the floor wet and then someone slips on the wet floor and falls - I made a choice or perhaps a series of choices whether to put my umbrella by the door or make sure to dry my shoes off… etc. did I know that was going to happen? Did I intend for that? Did I or the person who fell deserve that? No, I made choices and those were the consequences that happened as a result so one could say it is my fault even if it’s not only my fault and even if it’s not like I intentionally meant for that to happen.
So obviously c!Quackity didn’t deserve to be abused, nor choose it, nor mean for it to happen, nor make it happen, nor is his hurt invalid. But c!Schlatt had a bad reputation to start off with, I mean one of the first things he does is betray c!Wilbur and c!Tommy in the first place. So all I’m saying is c!Quackity chose to ally himself with the devil and the devil lived up to his name.
(And I know I said you can call me cold, but that is kinda accusatory. c!Quackity isn’t a real person, these do not reflect my view irl, this is my view on a sadistic, manipulative, fictional character who lives in a world where people stab, kill, insult, harass for a fun afternoon.)

So the post that I wanted to reblog with commentary was locked (understandably) so I'm making my own dang post lmao!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok so! Since this isn't going to be on the original post anymore and since I'm generally not the type to put criticism directly in a tag I'll be sensoring Zvt4rla. I'm all for the ship, but I'm not fond of how fandom has behaved since 2005. With that out of the way,
Here's what I was going to comment on the above:
Just as a simple read of the initial posts: neither was explicitly trashing Zvt4rla.
Criticizing shipping conventions involving Katara, sure, but trashing? Nah.
Like it's completely valid for someone who ships Zvt4rla to view them through a lens where they either get and stay together in an on-again off-again way without marriage or in a temporary and highly passionate way without marriage.
And honestly if you go with the political marriage trope then Toph DOES make much more sense because the Fire Nation doesn't really have claim over the Southern Water Tribe and a marriage to Katara wouldn't realistically secure any political power with the Northern Water Tribe since they split 2 generations before. So a Zvt4rla marriage really wouldn't actually fix much of anything.
Literally if you're going for political intrigue or national healing through marriage then Tophko is the better couple to pick. It gives you WAY more to work with.
I know that chill Zvt4rla shippers that don't demonize Aang and ignore his and Katara's character arcs exist out there. I see them every once in a while, which is cool.
Honestly though, most Zvt4rla shippers spend a bunch of time demonizing Aang with made up bullshit to morally justify their shipping preferences.
Which is ridiculous considering they could just, idk, say they like the visuals and chemistry of Zvt4rla better instead of trying to make Aang into The Literal Devil to defend their ship.
Like hell at this point even though Kataang is my number 1 ship in AtLA I'm heavily into Zukaang as a close second because of all the parallels with Sozin/Roku and the fact that Aang seemed pretty attached to Kuzon pre-canon. Plus the Blue Spirit episodes and the Dancing Dragons and the Totally Normal Dual Monuments Zuko has built to represent his Friendship with Aang in TLOK. It's got a LOT of textual support and a lot of chemistry.
But Zukaang shippers aren't out here demonizing Katara to make Zuko into a better choice for Aang.
You can just let a couple split for unspecified reasons or not get together for minor differences.
You don't have to make the ex-partner into a monster to ship something outside of canon.
ALSO Zuko-Katara-Aang or Katara-Aang-Zuko are always a possibility y'all.
You don't have to break Katara and Aang up to get Zvt4rla to happen.
Aang's an air nomad. Air Nomads seem pretty chill about earthly attachment. And like I said, all 3 seem to like each other an awful lot... I don't think he'd be the type to hold it against Katara.
Now KATARA would probably need to work through 8 layers of possessive fury to get there despite her attraction to Zuko - since she's shown time and again that she takes other people flirting with Aang VERY badly (understandable) - but I believe they could get there eventually.
It might take a few years and lots of reassurance but still, they could work out some sort of relationship between the three of them no matter how you view it whether as permanent or temporary.
Whether that's Zuko and Aang as friends that both love Katara who loves both Zuko and Aang, or as all three in love with each other in different ways for different reasons but with love equally as strong in all directions.
Just because it's an ot3 doesn't mean that all 3 have to be present at all times. You can have moments between 2 partners of the ot3 that are just between them without the 3rd member of the relationship being present.
The Ot3 leaves room for all 3 ships: Kataang, Zvt4rla, and Zukaang
#Atlashipcourse#Aang is truly the Canon Female Love Interest Murdered For Her Crimes Against Yaoi in this fandom except it's another Het ship#I feel so bad for him#He's so kind and good and full of love and because he's in the way of an intensely popular ship he's ripped to shreds#He doesn't deserve it y'all#Jesus leave the guy alone#Multishipping is incredibly difficult in this fandom because of how toxic zvt4rla shippers can get#But I'm multishipping anyway#AND LET TOPH HAVE MORE LOVE INTRESTS WITHIN AND OUTSIDE THE GAANG GEEZ#She had a big stinking crush on Sokka and people just like ignore that#She has a type and Zuko shares a handful of qualities with Sokka#Zuko/Sokka/Suki/Toph ot4?#Like#It works travel wise too#Sokka and Toph are the most mobile of the 4 and can visit pretty much at will#And Zuko and Suki and Sokka are a thing for a whike post Maiko break up#And then Toph makes her way into the fold as she gets older and bolder and more confident when it comes to matters of the heart#Before they all break up for whatever reason further down the line#Maybe Suki wants something permanent and committed like starting a family and the other 3 can't do that#Just like#Dang it has sucked being someone that loves Aang since the earliest days. The show loves Aang but if you stood up for Aang irl or online#You'd get roasted for liking the fruity sweet girly boy instead of the cool edgy manly boy and like#For some reason despite all the cultural change between then and now that still hasn't changed in this fandom#It's so weird it's like a time capsule of fandom bullshit#Like I've watched the western YYH fandom completely change over the years from toxic bs involving Kazuma Kuwabara hate and Keiko bashing#And ridicule that you'd get if you shipped Hiei and Kurama with anyone outside of each other#Into the multishipper's paradise that it is today as Western Values changed but AtLA fandom is stuck in 2007. 😞

The fact that trans people are increasingly being in more danger (not even just in the U.S.! That's what I see talked about a lot is the recent anti trans laws there but there are other countries dealing with an uptick in anti trans pushback too!) but all some of y'all can focus on is stupid online discourse like what trans people are really valid (ex: nonbinary validity discourse, nondysphoric trans people discourse, xenogender discourse, gnc trans people discourse etc.) and if certain things trans people use for themselves is mocking the community (like dear gods the fucking neopronoun discourse, and the discourse over transmascs who use she/her + transfems who use he/him) instead of focusing on the rising pushback against our existence and bodily autonomy, it REALLY shows where your priorities lie.
"Oh but don't you know you can focus on two issues at once!!" But you aren't, and quite frankly, when it comes to this, no you can't. Because when it comes to minorities, intercommunity fighting over who "really" belongs or whose "right" on what identities are valid actively pushes apart the community based on opinions on that. And if we're busy being divided and pointing fingers at one another, we aren't working together to push back against the people who actively want our minority gone. Intercommunity arguing and validity discourse? It's exactly what the transphobes want. They want us to be fighting each other because if we are pointing fingers at one another and blaming each other for their actions, we aren't pointing fingers at them and blaming them for their own transphobia. We aren't fighting them because we're fucking fighting each other.
[ Please do not add discourse to this post explicitly being against discourse, I don't want to fucking hear it ]

Oh hey, she actually drew something for once. What a novelty!
So yeah, Lucy has a broom. And a wand. Why not? Y’know? She and Melusine (OC) go for daily zoomies through the city. When they visit the Pole they head out with La Befana, who is better than both of them combined.
Lucy’s fave trick is to follow people around like this^^
Bc she’s an adorable lil’ menace 😈☺️🌸

you can dislike/criticize peggy carter without ignoring or trivializing the fact that red skull, john walker, baron zemo, and brock rumlow are all canonical white supremacist characters btw. like. both of these things can happen at the same time.

the way that adult men working both in the x-men office and “influencer” fan-adjacent spaces always behave so performatively extra about gambit will never stop being weird to me. it’s such a nasty underhanded way to gatekeep his (mostly female lbr) fans under the guise of (repeatedly asserting) mere personal preference

The townsfolk/students of Beacon Hills were very much justified in wanted to kill the supernatural considering the bullshit they’d been subjected to and the probability of more violence leading to trauma, and the show’s comparison to the Kristallnacht, a government-organised extermination of Jew’s livelihoods, means of money and culture because of racism is fucking insane bullshit that I cannot believe was swept over.

On the topic of MoonSky (Keith/Yuri) vs. TigerLily/TsukiTora (Kotetsu/Yuri), the popular interpretation of moonsky is that Keith is so good and forgiving that he would basically forgive Yuri for what he did as Lunatic and they live happily ever after, while with tigerlily we've been shown multiple times on the show Kotetsu stating he's against Lunatic's ideology and that he believes murder is still murder.
So you'd think that between these two pairings, Keith would forgive Yuri while Kotetsu would arrest him if he finds out he's Lunatic, right? I'd argue the opposite. We have repeatedly been shown that Keith is the Good Guy™; Hero TV and its audience adore him, and he's a very traditional and law abiding hero. Remember when they were all chasing Kotetsu thinking he's a bad guy? Keith was about to arrest Kotetsu in front of his daughter. Without even taking the time to listen to his side, the law declared Kotetsu bad, so he listened. IIRC, he even states that its not his choice who's bad or good, but it up to the justice system/police/law and he's just here to follow that. Based on that, I believe that if moonsky happened and Lunatics identity was revealed, Keith would be hesitant but I think he'd ultimately follow the law and arrest Yuri because otherwise he'd be going against his deeply ingrained moral code.
Kotetsu on the other hand, follows his own moral code.
