Just started Love Between Fairy and Devil, and god damn if the male lead doesn't look precisely as I always imagined Azhrarn, Lord Wickedness, from Tanith Lee's Tales from the Flat Earth.
The little orchid is no Dunizel, but still.

Continued from [x] @chaoticfoxes
Dicks on the brain or not, for all the experience they racked up over the summer, they still don't feel any closer to—whatever it is that is seems like Sterling now has with Kent and Colin.
They still feel so solitary most of the time, like it's them against the world. The idea of chaining themself to someone else, of needing someone else—or of putting them before themself—feels like something they still don't know how to do.
Maybe they should figure it out. Solitude is, after all, something they learned back in Indiana. When what went on behind the closed doors of the double wide was something they never talked about, something they were sure nobody else could understand. But that doesn't mean they know where to start.
Strangely enough, it feels easier with a crowd. They're only good at openness when it feels like a declaration instead of something vulnerable, like they're daring the world to look at them and not look away.
But they're not in a hurry. For now, they're figuring out hookups. Maybe later, they'll figure out the rest of it. The—intimacy, or whatever.
"Wouldn't you like to know," they say with a roll of their eyes, a familiar response to what feels like Sterling's constant prodding. It also feels like their best defense: even if they're not a virgin anymore, they feel like nothing will make them sound like more of an inexperienced loser than bragging about what they got up to over the summer. If Sterling wants to know what River gets up to, then he can see for himself the next time they go out and River puts all this newfound confidence into practice.
"So are you, like, dating?" They ask. Blurt, more like—so much for displays of confidence. But outside of all the gossip posts on Foxwatch, it's not like anyone ever made an announcement about it. And it's still a little weird—not because it's three of them, but because it's the three of them.
River might not have been around for the rest of their years on the Foxes, but their reputation was still pretty clear. "Dating and shacking up?"

Location: Fox Tower, room 312 Date: Friday, Feb 19th Time: Evening, after the watch party (closed)
After the holidays, things still manage to settle into something almost familiar. Except—Colin and Sterling are treating Kent like he’s fragile, like he needs the space from them, like his fears came true and they look at him different now. Or maybe it has nothing to do with him at all. Maybe it’s for the two of them—because Colin’s not bringing anyone else home. Sterling’s not talking to other guys in bars, at parties.
Kent is doing those things, of course, but it isn’t fun to brag about it to his friends anymore. Somehow, despite the fact that he’s not the one exclusively hooking up with the same person, he’s still sneaking around like his sex life is a dirty secret. Unsuccessfully sneaking around, probably. Colin’s still his roommate, and anyone could guess what it means when Kent goes out to a bar and only comes home in the morning.
But tonight, it’s the three of them. When they get back to Sterling’s empty dorm, Kent claims the couch, sprawling out and pretending he isn’t going to notice whether or not his friends pile onto the same couch the way they would’ve, six months ago.
Maybe he should make it more obvious when he goes out with other guys. He hooked up with Colin first, sure, but it didn’t become—this. This thing between his two best friends that prevents either of them from getting laid by anyone else. Whatever it was for Kent and Colin last semester, it’s not like he’s a threat now.
He props himself back up onto his elbows, knowing he should make some stupid comment about the Championships, and knowing he isn’t going to anyway. Whenever possible, he’s avoided talking to either of them about their not-relationship directly. They don’t need it, but he gave them both his blessing—or whatever—after the banquet. They aren’t talking to him about it either. Hell, he doesn’t know if they’re talking to each other.
And the worst part is, a year ago he thinks he would’ve been fine with this arrangement. Less than a year ago—two months ago, he tried to wash his hands of it. He wasn’t going to love it, but he was going to let Colin and Sterling figure it out with each other, even if it meant becoming their unfortunate third-wheel.
He’s not fine with this. It sucks. He’s had two months to stew on that now.
“Well, it’s officially the weekend,” Kent announces, loud and abrupt now that he’s decided he’s sick of this not-quite-equilibrium. “What are we doing? Or do you two have plans?” Colin and Sterling wanted him to talk more last semester, so, fine. Kent can talk—although maybe this doesn’t count, when he mostly just wants to make them talk about this in front of him, so he’ll finally know what the hell is going on.
When he goes for Valentine’s Day next, it’s halfway genuine curiosity and halfway the same part of him that’s usually spoiling for a fight, the dramatics of an argument—something, because at least then they can all feel like they’ve dealt with it enough to move on. “It’s fine, you can tell me. I didn’t rat you out to Foxwatch when they said nobody was getting any on Valentine’s Day. Unless they think the two of you are old news, like Jen and Grayson?”

Hello there!
-Short Overview-
First of all, welcome on this blog! This is a space for all those that love our dear Commander Fox and the Coruscant Guard.
What you can find here:
-Various prompts and events for writers and artists, as well as reblogged content
If you have any questions, feedback, suggestions or other thoughts you can always send asks or a DM.
(It’s actually very important and helps me improve and keep things as safe for everyone as possible.)
Search this blog for #foxwatch for reblogged content and #prompts for, well, prompts.
-Rules-
-Post your work on Tumblr and @ this blog. I will reblog it here. You can also post a link to your work if you posted it on another website.
-Please keep any additonal information, requirements or rules stated in the individual posts in mind.
-If your post is long, please consider using a read-more link.
- Please tag your work! Use appropriate tags and warnings.
-Any and all works containing Clonecest must have a warning, appropriate tags and a read-more link before the content. I can not reblog your work otherwise.
-For all artworks/drawings/etc. that depict sensitive content or common triggers, and writing that contains graphic descriptions of those things, the rule above applies as well.
-Ships or no ships, everything is welcome :)
-Example of what the warnings (and other information) before your work could look like-
Title: If your work doesn’t have a title you can leave this one out. It’s optional.
Prompt(s): This is also optional. This is where you could tell people for what challenge/post/prompt you did your work.
Warnings: This is not optional!
Relationships: If your work doesn’t contain any (romantic) relationships you can leave this out. You can also put platonic relationships/friendships here.
Characters: This is also optional, but I would highly recommend it.
Additional Tags: Here the same thing as with the Characters applies.
Summary/Description:  This is also optional.
-Your work-
I put this under a read-more link for the example, so the people who post something that requires one know where to put it.

It’s not that he’s engrossed in the gossip site, but there’s a strange curiosity that he can’t shake. He’s not engaging with the site, not like its target audience would, but the nagging thought that people could emit such an air of cattiness through words is it’s own form of impressive. But to him, it’s also unnecessary the way these people try to inspect into others’ lives to then spread information to the rest of the world.
“Not to state the obvious, and I’m sure it’s been said so many times throughout this year, but ---- anyone else think Foxwatch is just fucking creepy?”
Tumblr media
He pauses, then looks over his shoulder. “I bet someone from Foxwatch just heard me and is about to write something scathing in about two minutes.”

Location: L.A. Nightclub, Fox Afterparty Date: Friday, February 15 Time: Night (open)
Her life had never been like this: bright lights, big city, free flowing drinks at a private party with actors from TV. The Everharts had money, her real parents had had money, but it wasn’t showy like this. It wasn’t fame. They’d written articles in the paper when her parents had fled the country, about the people they’d burned and the money they’d stolen, but that had just been in Houston. Nowhere else had noticed, nowhere else had cared.
Now, it almost feels like a blessing. Her parents had abandoned her, and she’d been forgotten. The world hadn’t noticed, but now that just makes it all easier to erase.
She’s ashamed of the girl she’d been, those bitterly jealous years she’d spent alone and fighting for every last scrap. Nights like this, it’s easier for her to pretend that she never been that girl—that she’d never had nothing, never been nothing. That girl—the one who stole red lipstick from the drug store, wore it like it could be a shield; the one who had been locked up, who only had what she could defend—looks nothing like the girl she is now.
The girl she was even a year ago would never have been here. Finally—the Foxes give her something, are good for something.
She wants everyone to know it, wants her old squad to know it most of all. She’s here, and the team she cheers for is moving on in the Championships; and they’re stuck back in Palmetto, and their team isn’t. She holds her phone at arm’s length and snaps a quick picture, knowing that the mysterious faces behind Foxwatch must just be dying for glimpses inside this party and intending to give it to them, to show off for once when she feels like she’s spent so much of this year fighting the urge to hide.
“You want to be in one?” She asks to the person next to her, not checking to see if they’re Fox or Vixen or TV star—but, okay, maybe hoping for the last one—as she smiles wide. “You’ve gotta promise to make it good, though.”

Finally updating my pinned post:
A little about me: I'm a queer, multiethnic 41-year-old martial artist and gardener by interest, editor by trade. I share a home with my partner (most frequently referred to as the Magical Flying Husband) and our two cats, Wanjinyou and Mira Purrlan.
I'm unfortunately very bad at tagging things here; if you ask me I'll try, but I really can't guarantee it.
If I'm talking about myself I tend to tag it My Actual Life ; small bits of writing, prompt replies and fanfic are Fox Writes.
I'm on AO3 as Remember Koom Valley, though I post very rarely and generally a bit weirdly. I'm on Instagram as Foxwatchful; I accept most friend requests, though my photos are mainly of garden, of cats, of bread and of strange textures. I'm on Twitter as RememberKoomVly, but I wasn't there much before it all went to hell, and I mainly retweet.
And in case I have to say it again, though it's in the masthead; I have no time for TERFs or SWERFs, racists and ableists and nazis can seriously fuck off, white supremacy is the stupidest thing I've ever had to be around (and be around and be around and be around and be around) and while I respect your right to have a religion, I'm already full and don't want any.

THE FOXHOLE COURT: MARCH 11-MARCH 17
ONLINE:
“After the death matches cut the field in half, seven teams are left standing: three in the evens bracket, which will send one team onto the semi-finals; and four in the odds bracket, which will send two.”
“Now, in the third round, the Championships stakes are about to change: emphasis now switches to points, with the teams that score the most cumulative points in their third-round games moving on. The teams that score the least will be eliminated. Theoretically, a team can lose both of their games or still move on, or win both of their games and not move on, depending on how the scoring shakes out—though we haven’t seen either of those scenarios play out in some time. But with a Championships season full of shocks and upsets so far, we certainly aren’t ruling anything out.”
“In the evens bracket, the Palmetto State Foxes will get a rematch with the UCLA Bruins this Friday, this time on their home turf; the following week, the Bruins and the DePaul Blue Demons will play each other in Los Angeles; and the week after that it’s the Blue Demons’ turn for home court advantage, as they play the Foxes in Chicago.”
“It’s a steep fight to the finish for the odds bracket, where four teams remain to fight it out. In such a thinned-out field, it’s impossible to imagine the Edgar Allan Ravens not moving onto the semi-finals—but the question remains, which team will join them? The Ravens will play their first game of the third round this Friday against the UT Longhorns, while the Belmonte Terrapins will take on the Ohio State Buckeyes.”
- COLLEGE EXY ONLINE, “AS DUST SETTLES AFTER DEATH MATCHES, SEVEN TEAMS MOVE ON TO THIRD ROUND.”
“The Palmetto State Foxes and the UCLA Bruins met in the first round of the Championships, where the Foxes won in the shootout. Only a more dismal first round performance by the UC Davis Aggies allowed the Bruins to move on to the death matches, where they earned a surprise shootout victory against the Penn State Lions.”
“The last meeting between these two teams ended in a fistfight—after the final buzzer sounded. For starting the fight in the handshake line, Fox Louis Granger was suspended one game by the ERC, but he’ll be back on the court on Friday—as will Bruin Joe Carmichael, who was on the other side of Granger’s fists.”
“Two Fox players, however, will be missing: striker Leo Duarte, for a red card in the Foxes’ death match against the UNLV Rebels; and Fox goalkeeper and Captain Grant Rollins, who was injured in the same game. According to Fox Coach David Wymack, Rollins will be out for several weeks with an MCL injury, but a few weeks can make all the difference for the Foxes in the Championships. Has Rollins, a fifth year, played his last game as a Fox? We’ll have to wait and see.”
- COLLEGE EXY ONELINE, “FOXES VS. BRUINS: PREVIEW.”
“Did you hear? There’s an Exy game this Friday—no, not that one. We’ve gotten our hands on a Facebook invite from the football team, and it looks like they’re going to be watching the Ravens on Friday night. Now, we don’t like to take sides in a rivalry, but this just seems a little too petty for us. We’re sorry to say it, but cheering for the enemy isn’t going to change the fact that your team flamed out of the playoffs. Do better next time, would you?”
- FOXWATCH, YOUR SOURCE FOR GOSSIP AT PALMETTO STATE UNIVERSITY
ON CAMPUS:
The third round is uncharted territory for the Foxes, and in practice, the emphasis is on one thing and one thing only: scoring. The Foxes will need to score big and score often to secure their place in the semi-finals, and their strikers are feeling the pressure.
Additionally, with the third round schedule revealed, the Foxes have their second third-round game scheduled in the middle of what would have been their Spring Break, meaning that they’ll be on the road to play the Blue Demons while everyone else is at home.
The Foxes have played only one game at home so far in the Championships, and now that they’re home again Fox fever has seemed to take over the Palmetto campus—an embrace the Foxes have never seen from their own school before.
But their bandwagon fans aren’t the only ones taking note of the Foxes’ performance: on Wednesday, March 13, the doors of the Foxhole Court open during the Foxes’ evening practice: for the press, cameras getting footage of the Foxes from a safe distance with none of them made available for comment; but also for the professional scouts in town ahead of Friday’s game, to take a look at the Foxes’ fifth years—even if one of them is on the bench.
On Friday, March 15, Palmetto seems to be packed: more out-of-town fans and alumni than the Foxes have ever seen, all of them wearing orange. And then, when evening comes, it’s time for the third round to begin, time for a rematch against a team they’ve beaten once before.
(OOC information related to the game under the cut)
The results of the game against the Bruins will be posted on Friday night and, in order to put it together, there are a few things I need from you:
Due to the size of the roster, there is a chance that not every player will get to play in every game, so if you want your character not to play in the game (for reasons that could be related to being late to practice, poor performance in practice, mouthing off to Wymack/Grant/Claudia, or any other reason you can think of!) please let me know. With the current size/composition of our roster, I’m looking at having to sit some dealers.
If there’s anything exceptional you want to take place during the game (fights, red cards, injuries, exceptionally poor play, etc.) please let me know, and I’ll do my best to work it in. This will work on a first-come-first-serve basis, if the game is getting too packed with details, you might have to wait for the next one;
After each game, two players will be selected to answer questions from the press. If you want to volunteer your character for press duty, please message me! This will also be on a first-come-first-serve basis. And if you volunteer for press duty, please only do so if you expect to be able to play out the thread with your partner in a timely fashion. And remember, we’re now at a reset! If you’ve done press duty before Championships, feel free to volunteer again, though priority will go to people who have not yet had the opportunity.
Remember, you only have to reach out to me if there’s something very specific you want me to work in!
And, as always, I welcome any feedback!

Location: Downtown Palmetto; local bar Date: Friday, August 21 Time: Night (open)
Palmetto’s been empty all summer and the slow trickle of Foxes and Vixens hasn’t helped much. Especially not when Kent avoids the Vixens as much as possible now, assuming they’ve had all summer for Bianca to sway them to her side of things. The bars here are small though, which gives them the illusion of being crowded, even with most people still gone for the summer. It’s no Eden’s, but Kent can’t make the trip to Columbia every time he wants a few drinks.
He’s still got the taste of tequila on his tongue, both from the shots earlier and some fancy mixed drink with pear in it. The latter is still in his hand, although he’s eaten most of the fancy garnishes and lost the umbrella already. Unfortunately, so far that’s been the highlight of tonight’s outing, and that is unacceptable.
“Hey,” he says, turning towards a familiar face. “I’m bored. Did you see even Foxwatch called me boring?” Not in so many words, sure, but whatever. Sure, Foxwatch clearly doesn’t have his best intentions at heart, but why should Kent care?
Some Foxes hate the notoriety that comes from the team; Kent enjoys it, if he’s honest. That includes Palmetto’s own trashy gossip rag. He’s only here because Wymack was desperate enough to track down a flashy striker on Youtube and that almost feels like bragging rights. Almost feels like he’s required to keep it up—to be loud and over the top, just like his initial, if accidental, tryout was.
It’s mostly genuine, even still. He doesn’t like to stay still. He doesn’t like to think too hard. He’s been this way forever, although it’s taken on new forms as the years passed. Kent’s certainly not the superstar athlete, the classic all American boy he used to be. Nowadays, it’s more about the instant gratification. “We gotta do something to get them talking.”
