I am finally watching season 5 lmfao. I didn't want to because the first half is boring to me. I really don't care about class B. I only care about a handful of the class A kids and Shinsou is cool, he's part of 1A to me since i started watching the series. Anyway, reading the class 1A vs class 1B battles is a different experience from watching them animated. It should be more exciting because it's in motion, but I think because I read the chapters wayyy back in like ??? 2019, after season 5 hit 2 years later, I was like okay. My best friend had to SIT ME DOWN to watch the first 7 episodes because I couldn't commit to the series. So now I have committed myself to watch an episode a day and I'm finally on season 5. So I'm watching each episode slowly and I'm enjoying them because they're 24 minutes long and then it's over. The thing I love about this season is the OP, we get Izuku and Shouto having a full conversation while everyone else is just stretching or whatever. Nobody else matters except these 2 angels. No little glances from other characters compare to the full conversation they are having LMFAO. Best thing in that part of the season. I am watching for black whip and Izuku and Shouto talking after the battles. And both their battles. But that's really it. One of the things that bothers me is that none of the recommendation students won their battles. They either lost or ended with a draw (?) I think, which is so stupid because they're supposed to be better than the others yet they don't win. Bullshit. Horikoshi just hates women and doesn't want Shouto to win. Momo and Setsuna should have won. I can handle Mud man losing, he's not my favorite. Like you can't have Shouto hype up Momo and have her LOSE. Horikoshi what's that even about??? What was the POINT? Hype her up to WIN. Prove Shouto's point that she's excellent. And then he has Shouto reaching these insane temperatures ....for his battle to be a draw. WOW. AMAZING. That's so anticlimactic. He could have 3 class 1A groups win in a row, and then have Bakugou lose, that would have been interesting. Humble him more. And then have Izuku win, that was good. No complaints about him. He even got black whip. I'm ignoring everything else that happened in that fight, but black whip was cool (I love that quirk, leave me ALONE). Idc if his favoritism for class 1A would have shown, I wanted my kids to win. They got hyped and did not get rewarded. Don't hype them up then! Or put them in the same team so they can ALL win at the same time IDK. He could have taken so many directions with this arc. I just think it sucks. It's salvaged, in my opinion, by the individual characters and what they bring to the table, Shinsou does a great job, the OP giving me crumbs, Momo, Shouto, and Izuku looking really cool, black whip, and the talk between my favorite boys. I'm not hate watching, I'm honestly watching because I want to know what's going on, since it's been YEARS after I read the manga and also years since I watched the 7 episodes I watched with my bestie before I went to do my master's. I really am interested. I just think the arc, to me, is boring.

Day 6 - Folklore || Pining - FACE Fam + Fruk 👀 sounds super cool

Oh it is. Very excited about it. But it's long so it's taking me a bit to write out. Also I am reworking the og outline because some of it was clunky.

Basically it goes, Matt is playing in the woods though he isn't supposed to and comes across Alfred, a little fairy boy crying. Concerned for him Matthew offers to help. It's revealed that Arthur, Alfred's father, has gotten trapped up in iron, leaving him severally burned and wings damaged. Matthew immediately goes to to get his Papa who used to be a doctor. Though Francis has heard how fairies can be dangerous, he can't tell Alfred no or leave someone to die.

Arthur lives but his wings will most likely never fully heal and it's a good chance he won't ever fly again. Too ashamed to return to the fairy realm he and Alfred move in with Fran and Matt and they become a little family.

Possible spoiler ahead. Not sure if I'm going to go through with this, but I have to put this idea down somewhere

I am considering making Matt actually biologically Arthur's kid, but was sent to a human as changeling because the healers in the fairy realm didn't think he'd live long. It would play off the idea that changelings are dying fairies who are switch with human babies so the dying fairy can live out their remaining days in comfort. But surprise! Because of how advanced human medicine is, Matthew ends up living. His immune system is kind of weak and he may have asthma or some other condition that's very manageable.

Oooh I can picture the scene now. Francis and his wife were just told their baby doesn't look like they're going to make it. Arthur sees. Not wanting to take away another family's child, he decides to switch Matthew with the dead baby that way Francis and his partner could have at least some time with a child.

This issue opens with Gabby’s beautiful illustrated road trip plan across North America, beginning in San Francisco and ending in Ontario, Canada -- taking lots of stops along the way at tourist attractions, national parks, landmarks, etc. All ending in a big commemorative family photo!

Laura and Akihiro are...less than thrilled. (Clearly, Gabby must’ve paid off a telepath or something to mess with his brain, right?)

But Logan happens to know a guy in San Fran with an RV, so they’re doing it. Logan called the front, since he’s driving, Gabby claimed the center, and Laura and Aki get the back of the RV, near the toilet.

Their first stop is the Commonwealth Mine Historic Park, where Akihiro finally reached his shirt-wearing quota of the day and doesn’t want to put his “family shirt” on. Logan asks him nicely (even used “please”) to put it on and he begrudgingly does. It’s for Gabby, after all.

During the mine tour, a couple comes out panicking because their daughter has gone missing! Jonathan growls at them (possible foreshadowing?), but the Snikt Fam assumes he’s just being cautious and agree to help look for the missing daughter.

Lots more hilarious moments this issue. Gabby’s drawings were very cute, and her and Jonathan are an adorable dynamic duo.

I know you love to call sothis the worst mom but I can't help but feel the only reason her (byleth too to a degree) gets shoved into never being able to take stance on anything is due to edelgard.

The multiple route systems and the devs trying (and failing) to make every side "have a point/reason". We can't let byleth (who sothis is stuck to) make choice by default to go against edelgard. Few characters are allowed to get pissed and stay that way with edelgard in both games. They shackle both byleth and sothis to "any route can be canon" so they don't get to react or remark to anything. No matter the route in hopes its the same for them. I wish they just committed to having byleth/sothis be the main villain protecting their family in hopes but they needed them both for marketing.

I don't see either character truly bad due to being underutilized and stagnant. The multiple-route system has to have them agree with all the routes regardless of whether it makes sense or not.

That's the Doylist answer to Sothis being, well, nothing more than a plot device who has to follow the player's choice to side with X or Y, even when Y sides with Agarthans and swears to obliterate her kin.

Tru Piss is basically "fuck Sothis" route, but with a greater emphasis on Rhea because red herring and because "Rhea BaD", even if Supreme Leader is barking at the wrong tree!

And yeah, ultimately, all those characters are written in a doylist POV to fit with what the devs intended.

However, even if the Fodlan continuity is rife with, uh, writers and devs wanting to convey one thing but doing it in the most roundabout way possible so no one actually buys it - time and time again they could have written Sothis as a character who gives a fuck about her family, but doesn't.

Voice Line Anon (tm lol) is kind enough to provide me with a translation of her lines in Nopes, but basically yeah, the writers had her actually interact with her fam in an AU of an AU with NG+ on top.

And it would just be, annoying but okay-ish if a certain character's entire arc - as we're supposed to believe per the writers - is about meeting her again!

Mind you, even in SS (or VW), we don't see Sothis, fully aware, react to Rhea giving the most important infodump of all infodumps - answering one of Sothis's biggest questions after she woke up - and in the worst S-Support of the game, we're told they, uh, spoke while Rhea was flying in her half-berserk state and told her some words that made Rhea wonder if she should be happy not to have died.

We're not even in "any route can be canon", because Felix can be recruited to other routes than his own, but at least in AM Felix has plot relevance, has words for Dimitri and reacts to his dad's death. SS could have been the route where Rhea's despair, crying or begging for Sothis just to hold her once again, would amount to something... but no.

To give a parallel, the devs deliberately wrote Dedue as unrecruitable, but who participates in SS/VW to take down Supreme Leader. The same devs wrote Hilda as unrecruitable in Tru Piss - even if in Nopes she dgaf about Supreme Leader anymore and can join her team.

But the devs never bothered to make an event, less a line where Sothis talks to her children - especially to her heartbroken daughter - save for Nopes' AU of an AU. Heck, even in FEH they dance around it, and she looks even more callous because F!Rhea in her FB pleads for Sothis's presence and just wants to see her (even her lvl40 quote!) but Halloween!Sothis refuses to see Halloween!Rhea - when she knows she's the progenitor god!! - for some reason, and I'm pretty sure it's not one that is only tied to Supreme Leader.

Ultimately, yeah, I agree, Sothis is underutilised and stagnant, but both her apparition off-screen in SS and her S-Support in Tru Piss (any routes but Tru Piss takes the cake) really makes me wonder, did the devs really intended her to be a mc guffin but unconsciously wrote her to be the worst parent of the franchise - heck even Sonia looks better - ?

Nopes's NG+ lines really made me reconsider because gfdi she has lines she could have acted/reacted in the game damn it, they even got a characterisation for her regarding each of her relatives... but no.

At times I really wonder if the main crux of the game isn't the corollary to Hresvelg Tea - everyone should love Supreme Leader, of course, but "Rhea BaD" because if she's not "BaD" then what is the player even supposed to be/do? And as sad as it is, Sothis - in general - was used to fuel the "Rhea BaD" pyre more than, imo, the "Hresvelg Grey" uwufest, even if indeed, the two are closely linked.

I just like their dynamic where Aly is mature and gentle and looks after Fran emotionally whereas Fran is a bit more young and free and exuberant? Put A Pin In It - Cyborg 009 [ Alpha-Numeric ]

Another Cyborg 009 familial drabble I did! This time with a few hcs of mine for the Cyborg fam, where they actually get to wear their scarves in different ways. Either for fashion or practicality. And a bit of insight to how Ashley sees and interacts with everyone!

"What is taking her so long?" Jet groaned, leaning against the wall and looking out the window. "I swear, we never should've let her go out alone, women take forever." 

"Cool your jets," Albert countered, absolutely smirking at the pun, "I'm sure she'll be back soon. It's not even sundown yet."

Jet grumbled in complaint, tapping his foot impatiently. "What was she even going to do, anyways?" He asked, casting a glance around the room. 

Pyunma shrugged "Who knows? Maybe she wanted a change of scenery, or needed to go buy something?" 

Clearly that wasn't the response Jet was hoping for, just grumbling and looking out the window again. Fortunately he wasn't waiting too much longer, Fran looking up from the book she was reading. "She's back." 

Ashley finally opened the door just a few moments later, a tote bag on her arm. "I'm home!" She called playfully, looking up to everyone once she's locked the door behind herself. 

"About damn time." Jet grumbled, crossing his arms tighter. 

Ashley rolled her eyes at his antics, but couldn't help her excited grin. "Oh hush. I'm glad you're all here though, actually!" She beamed, reaching into the tote bag and rummaging for a moment as she wandered over to Jet. "I got a little something for everyone!" 

That seemed to get their attention, Chang even sticking his head out from the kitchen in their hotel room. "Presents? For us?"

"Mmhm!" She hummed, finally pulling her hand out of the bag, holding a smaller bag. 

"What's the occasion? Did we forget about a holiday?" G.B. asked, genuinely concerned. 

"Nope, no reason! I just saw them and wanted to get everyone a little something!" She answered as she reached into the smaller bag as she finally stood on front of Jet, who seemed much more interested now. 

"I'll just go in numerical order, so I'll start with Jet for this." She explained, holding something out in her hand, prompting him to hold his own hand out palm up. She dropped the item into his palm, then focused on his reaction. 

It was a broach, not terribly large, but the design earned her an excited grin. 

"I saw it and thought of when you were trying to paint the shark face design that are on fighter planes," Ashley explained, "So I couldn't help but grab it for you! And I was able to find one for everyone! Except Ivan, because I'm not sure if they'd be too heavy for him or not." 

Jet turned the pin over in his hand some before chuckling and using his empty hand to ruffle her hair, not phased by her protests or swatting. "You did good, kid." 

Ashley beamed before scurrying over to François, rummaging in her little bag again. "I also figured it might be fun to decorate our uniforms some with them, personalize them a little. But they might also get damaged or be a hindrance, so…" she shrugged, finally offering Fran hers. 

Fran accepted hers with both hands, gasping softly as she looked at the pin, depicting a pair of pink ballet slippers tied together in a bow. She wasted no time in pinning it to her blouse with a smile, setting her book aside to offer Ashley a hug, which she gratefully accepted. 

"I know they're not red, but hopefully pink will suffice?" Ashley asked, a little playful. 

Fran laughed softly "It's perfect." She reassured, letting her go so she could continue passing out her gifts. 

So off Ashley goes to Albert, who had his hand out by the time she got to him. Once he registered that his pin was a cartoony bomb that said 'boom' where the fuse would be, he couldn't help but laugh. 

"They didn't have any rocket knees, so I figured this would be close enough." She teased, managing to duck away from the second hair ruffling to hurry over to G. Jr. With a laugh. 

She offered his to him, already giggly from the excitement, only for it to be louder when seeing how tiny the pin looked in his hand. It was a simple horseshoe, but was deceptively heavy. 

"It's weighted on the bottom, so that no matter what, it'll be right side up to hold in the gold luck!" She explained as he examined the pin carefully, as though still scared of damaging it. 

He nodded gratefully, offering a soft "Thank you" before she headed off to Chang and G.B., handing them each of theirs. A red asian style dragon for Chang, and a pair of drama masks for G.B. 

"I almost got a whisk for you, Chang, but I felt like the dragon was more fitting. Fire and all that." She explained, adding "I was also hoping to find a typewriter pin for G.B., but they didn't have one. So I figured the masks were the next best thing." 

Chang was already fastening his to his apron, beaming proudly with his hands on his hips. "It's perfect!" He reassured before hurrying back to the kitchen not wanting their dinner to burn. 

G.B. struggled more with his pin, Ashley having to help him when he managed to almost prick himself. "I've been an actor for longer than I've been a writer, so I feel this is a perfectly suitable pin." He reassured, also giving her a tight squeeze of a hug. "You're so thoughtful!" 

Ashley laughed shyly, heading over to Pyunma next. "It's nothing fancy or anything, but I like to get you guys things when I think you'd like them! It's just even better when I can find something for the whole group! I also got us some more movies and music, so we can have some fresh variety when traveling." 

"Don't sell yourself short," Pyunma scolded with a smile. "It's still clear you thought hard on what to get everyone, and that you pay attention. It means a lot to know someone cares so much about the little stuff." 

Ashley flushed at the praise, offering him his next. His was shaped like a surfboard, but with a sun and wave pattern on it. "I'm just glad that so far you're all enjoying them. I had a hard time choosing for some of you." She admitted, fidgeting with the bag absently. "For example for you, I had a hard time finding anything that fit well enough… I chose this one since you're our underwater specialist." 

Pyunma hummed appreciatively, giving her a smile. "I think it's a great fit." He reassured. 

Relieved, Ashley went over to Joe last, who was looking at Fran's, since he had sat down next to her. "Last but not least." Ashley joked, offering him his own pin. 

Joe looked up in surprise, as if not having expected to be included. He still reached out to accept his pin, surprised by what she chose. "A white bunny?" 

Ashley nodded, putting the bag back in her tote. "Mmhm! I'm not sure if it's your favorite animal or something, but I noticed you have that wooden carved bunny, and it seems really important to you. So… I figured a bunny pin wouldn't hurt." 

Joe took a moment to look at over, but didn't take much longer to give her a smile. "I really appreciate it." He assured, putting it on his collar for now. 

"Did you not get yourself one?" G.B. asked, his head tilted in confusion. 

"I did, don't worry!" Ashley answered, turning her tote bag towards him and pointing out the hourglass shaped pin she had on it. "I got myself this little hourglass one, and it even has sand in it that moves!" 

"An hourglass?" Joe asked, shifting to look at it better, audibly confused. 

Ashley reached up, tapping her sunglasses as she explained. "Hourglasses usually represent something to do with time, and since my abilities are basically like visions of different periods of time, an hourglass! Plus I've always been told I had an impeccable sense of time." 

No one could really argue that logic, and any arguments there may have been were promptly forgotten by her showing off the rest of her haul, and Chang starting to bring out dinner shortly after. While many of those pins didn't make their ways to the 00 uniforms, they still had their places of honor in each cyborg's wardrobe.
