And the M rating isn't much clearer. I guess it comes down to the rating board at the time whether something will pass or not. I'd assume Remake is gonna stay T because they wanna grab the teen market and then ffxvi will draw in the older teens which is what SE had planned by making Remake a bridge between old and new, with XVI being the first new numbered title for the next generation of FF gamers.

As someone playing both, I gotta say they nailed it. If I only played remake I'd wanna play more FF and then get into XVI and maybe see what the older games are like.

As for the hw scene, we've seen how the devs can handle an outdoor romantic event despite all the years of idiots going off about "Cloud fucked Tifa on some rocks hurpaderp" so I expect we'll get some tasteful avoidance angles of long grasses and clasped hands, but more than enough to imply Cloud and Tifa convey their feelings without words 🤭

man i feel you so badly about how the dlc dropped the ball on proper rose and eveline writing especially with their parallels… if you were to write the dlc, how would you handle it though, your analysis and RE thoughts are the best

Okay first off aww that's so sweet I really appreciate that. Second, idk how long this is going to be, so it'll go under a read more just in case

I'm going to split my personal choices for the DLC into basically two thoughts: How I would do a DLC of my own, and how I would change the DLC we actually got. Gonna do the latter first cuz I think it'll be shorter.

Changing Shadows of Rose

Right off the bat, I would like to give an inkling of what this world Rose is a part of looks like, and how it is different to the world as we last saw it in Resident Evil: Village. Because 16 years is a long time. The beginning of Resident Evil 0, and the end of Resident Evil Vendetta, all happened within 16 years. That is every single canon Resident Evil game, movie, tv show, etc. before 7 and 8 came out. Every single one. A lot can happen in this universe in 16 years. Adding on the fact that there were a lot of unanswered questions in 8 (Why did HWS go rogue? Who even are they? What's up with the Connections and what are they still up to (did they even ever get anything from the end of Not A Hero?)? Is the BSAA evil now since they were using fucking bioweapons as soldiers? What happened when HWS got to BSAA Europe HQ? What happened to Mia? How did Rose grow up? Is she an agent? Was she trained? Where are literally any member of the BSAA or any recurring characters in general apart from Chris?) it just comes across as brushing aside a mountain as if it were a molehill. The information we do get is laughable at best, and raises even more questions at worst.

Who is K? I already speculated that he was supposed to be John (before I watched the DLC) because their models are so similar, but their voices aren't the same and K doesn't have the scar on his face that John does. But Rose explicitly mentions that K is on Hound Wolf Squad, so,

Why is Hound Wolf Squad still around? Weren't they a rogue unit that the BSAA was trying to get a handle on, but Chris was focused on taking down Miranda and not listening to the BSAA's orders

Why is Hound Wolf Squad accepting new members? As I said, K isn't John, and John is the only white man on HWS apart from Chris, so this is clearly a new guy. I thought HWS was solely made up of people Chris really trusted, more than the BSAA.

Wow that's a lot and that's just one bullet point I want to fix. Here's a bit more, rapid fire:

Just make K be John. Have her call him J or L instead of splitting the difference

Have Rose mention whatever organization Chris is working for. BSAA, an individual company, fucking something to give us input

Don't have Rose be going to school. I (as an audience member) would sympathize with her so much more if she were kept in a lab and called "freak" by the people who watch over her, than going to public school as a normal kid and getting called "freak" by kids her age

Also make Rose's insults more than just things that 7 year olds could come up with. Have her be called inhuman, have her be called a mistake, have her be called a little bitch, have her be called a failure. That kind of dehumanization name calling is what got me to sympathize for Eveline (along with, you know, the fact that Eveline was abused)

The insults being so laughable makes Rose's extreme reaction to it, covering her ears with her hands and screaming to stop, look unreasonable, make her look childish

I can't fault her for a lot of the cringy observational dialogue since that's a staple of horror game protagonists to get the audience questioning what's going on, but the degree which it happened still pissed me off. Moving on

Don't have her be so mean to Eveline. Or draw worthwhile parallels between Rose and Eveline. Have them connect on what makes them feel isolated. Evie is not a villain for taking out the anger and frustration that stemmed from her abuse, fueled by seeing Rose being ungrateful for having everything Evie wanted, it is the understandable reaction of a 7 year old who has had enough of this shit. The fact that the DLC shows Evie crying and lamenting about how she's "worthless" and "no one loves her" so they're clearly aware that this is something Evie struggles with

Semi-related, give Eveline a happy ending. Eveline has never been a villain. She was an antagonist in 7. She can still be an antagonist in Shadows of Rose. But for the love of g-d let this character, who has arguably the most suffering of anyone in the whole series, have some catharsis of a happy ending. Have her go live with Jack and Marguerite, for example.

Doubly for Eveline, I still really think that Evie would've worked better as Michael rather than Ethan. They could've made it so "Michael" was luring Rose to Eveline's domain, which is why Michael can't help Rose out when she's there, Michael was decent to Rose, and Rose was nice to them in return, it could've been nice to see Eveline having her first ever friend that she reached out to in kindness first. Only for Rose to shut Eveline out when Evie wants Rose to be her friend in the mold forever, which causes Evie to lash out and try to force Rose to stay with her like she was taught to do since birth. There, now Eveline gets some sympathy and is shown kindness, and her hatred towards Rose is more obvious to people who don't connect the dots and realize Evie is jealous of Rose having the life and family that Eveline wanted.

I have nothing to say about Miranda's plan, it's very fucking dumb, but I do have two notes about the ending:

Number one, show us Ethan's fucking face. But ONLY at the moment where, after defeating Miranda, Rose says to him "But then we wouldn't have this moment talking face to face." We can finally see the face of the man who sacrificed and fought with everything for his daughter, we can see the first emotion on Ethan's face ever, love, as he looks at his daughter and the girl she has grown up to be. It would be moving for us and make us feel more for Rose

Number two: Don't have it end the way it did. I actually have two potential alternate endings. Either have Rose "die" and stay in the mold with Ethan, the man she has missed out on her whole life, her only family (since apparently according to developers she didn't grow up under Mia) and someone who treated her like a real friend. Or have Rose leave the mold, but choose to lose her powers. The whole fucking reason she went in there to begin with. Rose didn't grow, didn't learn anything, and her outlook on her powers didn't really seem to change, at least that we could see. Sure she's more powerful now but does she have them outside of the mold? Does she have control of them outside of the mold? More unanswered questions. Just have her use the crystal to take away her powers, and therefore with her mold gone, so is her connection to the mind palace, and she's human again. Boom good ending (the fact that this happened before the graveyard scene is sooo stupid) My point is have her LOSE something. She lost nothing throughout the entire story, only gaining closure and even more op mold powers that are still ambiguous. Having her lose something might make her more sympathetic or more interesting.

Okay so that's how I'd fix the Rose DLC we got. Still there? Great

Like I stated prior, there are SO many unanswered questions related to HWS. Even during Village. We could still play as Chris, but see what he and his squad were up to during Village while Ethan is...over there. You could flesh out these side characters, give us some insight as to why Chris trusts them, show us HWS' battle with the mold creatures, learn more about their mission. (Spoilers for WAY down the line for my fic series YHSB but clearly this is something I've put a lot of consideration into. Wink. Lol)

If they didn't want to lazily reuse assets from 8 which is what Shadows of Rose did then the DLC could pull a Not A Hero and pick up immediately after the events of 8. For whatever reason, not everyone was on the Osprey when the aircraft took off, they were probably at some rendezvous point since Chris says "pick up the rest of the squad" sooo wouldn't it be interesting to follow them leaving the village? Play as one of them fighting the monsters? Hell you could play as Canine fighting the lycans and the bioweapon soldiers before the ending I think that’d be neat. Off topic but I’m excited to get to play as them in RE: Verse. Anyway next DLC idea

Follow a maiden/the events at Castle Dimitrescu before the events of 8

This one I’m less enthusiastic about, but I could still come up with a DLC for it, since Shadows of Rose felt like recycling the castle setting, why shouldn’t I? You can follow a maiden avoiding the Dimitrescu sisters, trying and failing to help her fellow captives in the dungeon, and maybe even using some firepower to try to escape. Not sure what the ending would be but obviously you’d end up one of the dungeon zombies at the very end. It might be cool to see some of Castle Dimitrescu, maybe even doing some puzzles in reverse to see how they came to be in 8 like the masks or something. Idk could offer a fun perspective. Could also be an alternate history where she manages to kill at least one of the sisters, who knows?

Follow Elena/events in the village before the end of 8

This one I feel like really has the potential to be interesting, since when we see the village it’s obviously in tatters since the lycans have been attacking for some time and everyone is in paranoia. It’d be cool to see how the village looked before, like Castle Dimitrescu seeing how things came to be the way they were, maybe even watching attacks happen on the people we eventually see in Luiza’s house. Could end just before Ethan shows up or be an alternate history where Elena and her father make it to Luiza’s home on their own before being subdued by her father or just a random lycan attack

Follow Mia after getting kidnapped

This one pretty much stemmed from, “hey, another plot hole, maybe a DLC could answer our questions.” Probably would play out similar to some of the games Clancy had to sit through in his DLC, since Mia mentioned being used in experiments, or we could even see Mia trying to escape with weapons she finds/crafts before Miranda puts her back in that cell Chris finds her in. I personally don’t think this is much on its own but I figured it could’ve been paired with other DLC ideas I had like following Elena or something

Follow Ada

This one was kind of a joke tbh, I know Ada was obviously scrapped from being in 8 which makes sense but it could’ve been a 4th survivor/separate ways situation where we see Ada was there the whole time behind the scenes fighting off lycans with a crossbow for. Reasons. Idk maybe she wants the mold or something. Still at least it’d take place in this timeline’s present.

Follow Eveline

Okay just came up with this one because I am refueled with anger about how Shadows of Rose treated Eveline. Since we see her in the mold, it might be cool to play as Evie traversing the mold, meeting enemies who died in 7 and 8, fighting against monsters with Evie’s ambiguous disorder autism mold powers. Would have been nice to see a happy ending for Eveline, maybe as she was reunited with Jack…

UNIVERSITY SUCKS, don't fucking go if you live in a place where it's not needed. Unfortunately, in my country if you don't have one it's pretty much impossible to get a job.

I'm the youngest of my class, and everyone else is pretty much at least a year older than me, and they're most men. So imagine the headache it is to be a fem presenting genderfluid person in a classroom full of adult men. Also I'm pretty sure that if I didn't glare and grabbed their wrists whenever they tried to put their hands near me, I'd be surrounded by virgin weebs trying to flirt with me. Fml.

Also like, I'm having lots of dissociative episodes and they can last a good while, I'm tired because I know I'm automatically acting "normal", but I feel like I'm trapped in my mind and I can't escape it. Today I had, AT LEAST, 10 quick and short ones. The thing is I immediately feel like I need to throw up and my head hurts rlly badly, so I'm in pain.

Yesterday I got a tooth removed and my jaw hurts :( can't eat because ouchie.

Talked w my therapist abt all this, she agrees that I'm overwhelmed and getting sensory overload a lot. Have huge artblock, don't even have time to draw or write, only homework and sleep.

I'm eepy rn cuz in like half an hour is my usual betime so gonna go finish hw and then sleep. Love y'all, I promise I'll have more time to finish the fics now that I'm having my last exams of the "first section of the semester" on Wednesday.

Abyssos Spoilers and Thoughts!!

I'm gonna discuss the entire storyline from patch 6.2 so if you haven't completed it yet, don't read!

FIRST, MECHANICALLY, that was pretty fantastic! Really fun and creative fights that I think are gonna be difficult but bangers in Savage plus some pretty great horror tones with most of the bosses theming! The final fight left me really yearning to see the second half, though.... it was fun, but honestly a little underwhelming after doing P4S so much. Hoping for a real banger theme in phase 2. Great music overall, tho~

STORYWISE: Couple of nice little twists in the narrative that didn't feel like they came out of nowhere, plus a fun confirmation that Themis is absolutely Elidibus! The parts were all there, of course, but I like that the reveal was done as part of Themis revealing the trick. Erich is just having about the worst day he possibly can, and while Lahabrea doesn't get a pass for what he did to his son, his coldness towards Athena's death and desire to keep Erich from following in his footsteps lest he learn the truth is a much more understandable motive. Like yeah, he's right, that IS some traumatic shit to hear! But he's not cleared of the fact that he was afraid and running away and refusing to engage with his son out of selfish motives.

I do feel that Old and Eyebrowed Lahabrea can be given the title of DILF. Not so terrible a dad to be barred from the category!

THE FUTURE: Christ, what a cliffhanger~! As we were leaving and all was wrapped, I was thinking, "Wait... what about that other crystal?" But this is a hell of a fun note to leave off on. What the HELL is going on. I cannot WAIT.

NARRATIVE CONCLUSIONS: I also feel that after the way this story played out, we can say that Hephaistos is DEFINITIVELY... Our Lahabrea. It felt like it should be the case, but I believe a lot of folks were looking for potential twists or surprises they could pull on us? But I think that with this patch, that's not going to happen.

This story is focused around Lahabrea because he was a cackling scooby-doo villain in ARR and HW, and we've now fleshed out enough Ascians that he stood out as one-dimensional and also a total loser. The intention was to grant our first Ascian enemy a little bit of depth!

With that in mind, I think the narrative focus has been on the Lahabrea of Pandaemonium enough to believe that he is OUR Lahabrea. It's not just visual and audio similarities, but how throughout this story we've had the idea of him being a man who is 'different than he was before'. We're asked multiple times, "Does this sound like Lahabrea?" as the villain we know! We're being urged to draw comparisons between them, and particularly with the appearance of Split-Hephaistos as a madman contrasted with Hephaistos, Now Lahabrea... a twist in identity at this point would be throwing out the entire narrative we've built so far.

SPECULATION: The Ascians we've met as Ancients have all been twisted by time and what they've lost and mourn, so Lahabrea's change is surely attributable to the same... in some way. With Pandaemonium still doing SOMETHING fucked up, we're still missing parts of the picture? But at the very least.

We know now that Lahabrea does not want to revive his wife... and that he cares a lot about his son. If grief is fueling his transformation, we know who he mourned.

You had been waltzing around Honeydukes looking for something new to try. It was a fine warm spring day, so earlier this morning you had decided on a short black skirt under your hoodie, for fun. Still having found nothing you sigh. Earlier you had let Ginny and Luna go on without you. You'd meet them at the Three Broomsticks later.

While you were weighing the pros and cons of getting the new lavender bubblegum, out of the corner of your eye you spot the Weasley twins enter the shop.

Fred advances toward you, George whispers something into Fred's ear before leaving out the door that rings when it opens.

"Bubblegum?" Fred asks, his eyes are concentrated on every articulate move you make. You catch his glance draw down to your short skirt, a sly grin plays within your lips.

"Where's George?" You say, truly wondering why he left. It wasn't very often you found Fred and George apart.

"He had to get something from Zonko's," he shrugs, before taking his eyes off you and to the rows of rectangular box packaged gums. "So lavender?"

You take a quick peek around the store to see if anybody was around. Nobody was. Besides, the gum section was in the back corner of the store.

Taking Fred's captivation and the absence of people into consideration, you bite your cheek trying to hide your cheeky grin, "I was thinking Lavender but-" you bend over to the bottom shelf of gums. You weren't wearing shorts underneath, nor was the skirt a skort. Bent over looking at the bottom shelf, what's in front of you is Orange Creamsicle bubblegum, "-I might go with Orange Creamsicle."

You take the box of Orange Creamsicle in your hand before moving back to stand up straight. With hostile briskness, you're not even halfway up yet, you feel Fred's hand grip tightly around your left thigh. He spins you around so you're leaned against the wall of bubblegums and he's right in front of you, towering over you.

The box of Orange Creamsicle falls out of your hand, somehow the top unfastens and the round bubblegums roll out, covering the ground, but that's not what you're the most worried about.

Fred's hand moves from your thigh, his middle finger lining the hem of your lace panties traveling up to your waist. You can feel yourself pooling the fabric. He looks you in the eyes, you aren't too sure what expression you're revealing. But Fred, his eyes are painted over with lustful urgency.

His motions come to a half when you hear footsteps approaching the two of you. Without hesitation Fred grabs your forearm, dragging you behind him, bringing you to a small hallway in the back of the store.

He pulls you into one of the three rooms that the hallway leads to. He quickly shuts the door behind you. In the split second that you survey the room, the walls are lined with shelves of jarred candies, and on the ground are piles of boxes.

Before you know it, Fred's muttered 'muffliato' and 'collopurtos' and he has you leaned against the shelves of jarred candies. You can feel the cool glass on your back.

"Fucking teasing me with that little skirt of yours, Y/N?" He returns to playing with the hem of you panties, feeling the soaked fabric in between in his fingers. He smirks at how easily you'd melt for him.

"I-I d-d-idn't mean t-" you're put to a halt as the sharp inhale of shock steals the words out of your mouth. Fred puts two fingers up your heat, and you jolt up slightly, grabbing onto the shelves behind your for support.

"Really? Because it seemed like you knew what you were doing when you bent over," he whispers threateningly into your ear, adding in a third finger, pumping your heat with a quickened pace.

"I-I-it was an ac-c-cident," your speech is altered, everything coming out in short syllables.

"You're a liar, don't think I didn't see your grin," he snaps, pumping much faster now. "Did you really think I wouldn't notice, fucking slut?"

His degradation plays in your head, flowing through your veins. You feel your body tensing up and your walls closing. You didn't want to come yet, it was too early, but you could feel it releasing on Fred's fingers, "...f-f-fuck."

Fred's gaze is stern, but his eyes are filled with satisfaction. He pulls his fingers out of your dripping heat. As he pulls out, he sweeps the fabric of your panties aside. You feel a flutter of excitement grow in your stomach as your eyes flicker from Fred's gaze to his pants, seeing him fucking hard.

Before you get the chance to assume, Fred sticks his fingers in your mouth, and at the same time places his knee in between your thighs, keeping you in place. With no choice other than to suck, you do, swirling your tongue around Fred's warm fingers.

Fred, growing hard with your tongue dancing on his skin, doesn't unbuckle his belt like you'd think he would when he releases his fingers from your mouth. Instead, he takes you harshly by the hips, sliding you on top of his thigh.

Your cheeks flush a hot red. You can feel them warming up. Your eyes slowly move, concentrating down to the floor, looking at the littered boxes. Fred knew you hated it when he watched you please yourself, you always felt embarrassed.

"You're acting all shy now, my little slut?" He scoffs, grabbing your chin forcing you to face him, hardening his gaze at he looks directly into your eyes. "...I'm waiting," he warns, his expression straining at your stillness.

Hesitantly you begin shifting against Fred's thigh. Since he had sweeped your panties aside, the fabric of his pants rubs against your raw pussy. Whimpering noises escape your lips as Fred sticks him thumb in your mouth.

As much as you hate to admit it, the friction between his thigh and your heat, stimulated you to the core. It was nothing compared to him, but the stimulation did devour you almost the same way.

Your elbows drop and you grip loosens on Fred's shoulders, panting heavily from the stimulation. You hadn't noticed that you dropped your head back, so when you look back at Fred a mischievous look is glimmering in his eyes, though his actual expression remains unrelenting.

Without warning, he drops his knee, and you fall to the ground. You ass hitting the hard floor. Your grip had been so light that you were completely helpless on the ground. You couldn't stand up, your legs were sore, numb, and trembling.

Also, a small part of you didn't want to get up. You were intrigued of what's coming next.

That question becomes answered rather quickly, as the jingling from the metal of Fred's unfastening belt rings in your ears.

"Hands and knees, now," he demands, glaring down at you.

You scramble to your knees, feeling a bit light-headed. Your fingers move quickly as you unzip and unbutton Fred's pants, dragging the fabric to the his ankles.

[nearly nodded off in history plenty of times, sure, but i'd never deliberately put my head down and ignored an instructor, what the fuck.] and i know he wouldn't have assumed that so callously of the better-performing students in the class, who Also had never done such a thing, bc he liked them. but w/me & my shitty homework grade, obviously this was just another sign i didn't care & was just blatant disrespect of his teaching. & like. this was 6 years ago but wow i'm still mad. i was 16 goddamn years old and sick and deserved at Least the benefit of the doubt. but no. nope. fuck that. mr whatsisfuck couldn't be bothered.)
