SSR Leona Kingscholar - Gala Couture Vignette
"Through all of this..."
Tumblr media
[Pomefiore Dorm – Ballroom]
Leona: Hips straight, feet forward… With every step, square the knees straight…
Leona: Put one foot in front of the other, as if walking on a thin line… However, take long strides with an open chest.
Tumblr media
Leona: …So, how's that, then?
Leona: You can't have no gripes with my runway walk now, can ya?
Vil: …It's perfect.
Vil: It's like you've become a completely different person from how you were a few days prior. When did you suddenly decide to actually take this seriously?
Leona: I couldn't be bothered to care about this lame fashion show, but…
Leona: It's even more of a pain having you dogging me day in and day out.
Leona: Just thought it'd be easier to get it all over with.
Leona: How's that, honest enough for ya?
Vil: So, you'll take things seriously just to make it easier on yourself? …I can't help being astounded at the depths of your laziness.
Leona: Anyway, I'm done with the walking. Looks like I'm done with your "lessons."
Vil: How naïve. Did you truly believe that "walking" in my world is just putting one foot ahead of the other?
Leona: Hah? There's more!?
Vil: Naturally. You're missing the most important thing needed for a show. That is…
Vil: Posing!!!
Leona: Posing…?
Vil: You walk down the runway and strike a glamourous pose, while all eyes are upon you. That is what a fashion show truly is.
Vil: I'm sure even amateurs like yourself have seen examples on television or in magazines.
Vil: For example, you can place your hands on your hips at the end of the runway before turning back around…
Vil: …
Vil: And pose like this.
Leona: That's got nothin' to do with walking.
Vil: "Posing" is just another aspect of "walking."
Vil: If you cannot nail that down, then there's no way you'll pull the gaze of the audience.
Vil: In addition, a model's pose is a reflection of their own personality. It does not mean you can make it look exactly like mine does.
Leona: Ughh, what a pain. You just figure something out for me, then.
Vil: …Ugh. I thought you would say that.
Vil: That is exactly why I have arranged for these people to come help motivate even someone as uncooperative as you.
Leona: Somehow…
Leona: I have a bad feeling about this.
Rook: Why hello, Roi des Lions! Your mane is absolutely stupendous today, très bien!
Cater: So rare to see Leona actually putting some effort in~! I should snap a pic for Magicam to keep a record forever ♪
[snaps picture]
Leona: …
Leona: Rook and Cater, huh… Two more annoying people just showed up, now…
Leona: How're these guys gonna be of any help?
Vil: Rook has a keen eye for beauty. Cater has his finger on the pulse of the current trends.
Vil: They are the most suitable to provide advice on posing.
Rook: We just need to bring forth Leona-kun's beauty, is that right? Leave it to me.
Cater: We'll show you some poses that'll make you look awesome ♪
Leona: …
Leona: …Haah. Fine, whatever. Having all three of you nagging me just wears me out.
Leona: Let's just get this over with.
Tumblr media
[Pomefiore Dorm – Ballroom]
Vil: In order for Leona to be the most dazzling thing at the fashion show, we need to develop a pose for him…
Vil: First, let's see what Rook and Cater have as suggestions.
Cater: Hmm, well~
Leona: …
Cater: How about a mysterious, upturned gaze that'll definitely be alluring? …So, pull your chin in like THIS! ☆
Leona: Urk!!!!!
Rook: I feel he still lacks a certain evanescence. Leona-kun, would you extend a hand towards me?
Rook: Gaze fervently into nothingness… Yes… As if you were in want of a prince to come rescue you…!
Leona: Hah? Stop saying weird sh―
Rook: Non! Face forward!! Square your shoulders and keep them parallel with the ground!!!
Leona: Urgh!!!!!
Rook: Oh yes, what if you held a flower? I wonder whether yellow or pink would suit you better?
Rook: This is too difficult to decide… How about we put both types on your shoulders to see!
Cater: Ooh, then what if we completely envelop his face in flowers, to give the effect of a more diminutive face…
Leona: …THAT'S ENOUGH!!!!!!
Rook/Cater: Ouch!!
Leona: Stop touching me. It's grossing me out.
Leona: I don't need you telling me every little detail, like pulling my chin in, or sticking out my hand, or whatever.
Leona: Cut the small talk, and just let me do it myself. It'll be much faster that way.
Vil: …Oh? Sounds like you're quite confident in yourself.
Leona: You want a pose that's "mysterious" and "evanescent," right?
Leona: I can give you that. Just shut up and watch.
Tumblr media
Leona: …There you go. That should be good enough.
Rook/Vil/Cater: …
Rook: Roi des Lions…
Rook: …That was an absolutely beautiful pose!
Cater: And it looked totally natural~! You sure you're not used to doin stuff like this, Leona-kun!?
Leona: Back home, I'd have to pose properly for a buncha portraits and other commemorative photos and the like.
Leona: This is elementary.
Cater: P-Portraits, huh… Makes sense for a royal family.
Vil: …
Vil: …True, it's not bad.
Leona: Hahah! See!?
Leona: And with that, these lessons are finally…
Vil: However.
Rook/Leona/Cater: "However"?
Vil: …It's average.
Rook/Leona/Cater: !?
Leona: You make me go… through all of this…
Leona: And you have the gall to call me average…!?
Vil: I thought it was pretty, sure. Also, "mysterious and evanescent" isn't a terrible concept at all.
Vil: …However, that isn't enough.
Vil: For the sake of "Operation Steal the Tiara and the Audience," you need to have something more that's not just average.
Vil: Your posing just lacks that something.
Rook: …I see. Now that you mention it, I would definitely like to see just how far Leona-kun is able to go.
Rook: As always, Vil, your insights on beauty is dead on!
Vil: However, I'm having trouble determining what that "something" he lacks is.
Rook: This is rather perplexing. What do you think, Leona-kun?
Vil: ? Where did Leona go?

Cater: Ah, Ruggie-kun. We're just in a bit of a pickle, see…

Idia: Eek! More people!
Cater: Ah, Vil-kun, and Crewel-sensei.
Vil: When Leona yanked his covers over his head to sulk in bed…
Vil: This pose idea was born.
Vil: Leona may be slovenly, but he has one merit of note. …And that's his level of intensity.
Vil: What all of his previous poses lacked was his own brand of "wildness"!

Leona: …
Fairy A: Look at all his ruggedly beautiful movements… I want to be one of those stray strands of hair that frame his face.
Fairy B: He looks difficult to approach, but I could watch him forever… What an amazing aura…
Leona: Hey, you lot. Stop whispering amongst yourselves…
Leona: And heap on more praise, why don'tcha?
Fairies: Kyaaaa!!!
Fairy A: Please! Sprinkle some of your dust on me!!
Fairy B: Toss some my way!

Crewel: Good boy, Kingscholar. See how you can actually do it when you apply yourself?
Crewel: His gallant movements puts a radiant luster in his attire, as well. That assures me that it was worth my effort to make them.
Idia: Everyone's eyes are glued on Leona-shi… To the point where just thinking about it is making me sick.
Cater: He was totally against it, but he's somehow managed to captivate all the fairies in the Fairy Gala…

Riddle Info Compilation part 22: Ace (pt2)
Riddle seems to have a problem with Ace’s general appearance, saying that “Ace looks quite the gentleman when he dresses properly. If only he’d do it more often.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Riddle may a thing for proper etiquette in general, and with Ace in particular.
Riddle fixes the prefect's tie in the main story and reprimands Ace both in a vignette and during Phantom Bride for his “uncouth language.”
When Ace goes missing during Vargas Camp Riddle says, “I’ll need to instill a sense of Heartslabyul propriety into him…again.”
He also has a voice line threatening Ace with a beheading for not properly taking care of the dorm’s hedgehogs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is possibly a reference to a vignette where Ace helps hunt down Heartslabyul’s hedgehogs after they go missing (he had been on hedgehog duty) and when Riddle thanks him for his efforts he responds, “Wish you’d flash me that nice little smile more often instead of nagging me nonstop.”
When Riddle asks him to repeat himself Ace reacts with, “I said that for our esteemed Housewarden, I would gladly do this and more!”
Both Ace and Sebek are taken out early in Beanfest by Riddle, who says that the effort required “didn’t even amount to a pre-teatime workout.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a vignette we see Ace perform sleight-of-hand tricks for Riddle in an attempt to distract him from the fact Ace is not studying but the plan fails.
Ace tries to trick Riddle in a different vignette as well, painting only the fronts of rose trees red at Heartslabyul on the assumption that Riddle won’t notice the backs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Riddle seems to be fairly used to Ace’s attempts at trickery, calling him out during Phantom Bride for trying to steal Rook’s idea to impress Eliza.
Riddle volunteers Ace as a suitor and he refuses, so Riddle dismisses him back to Heartslabyul and tells him to “tend to the hedgehogs or something. I’ll be fine with Epel here. Because unlike Ace, you possess actual bravery.”
Riddle continues with, “Pity my dorm’s freshmen are such cowards. You have more courage in the tip of your pinky than they do in their entire bodies. I suppose it’s the best of we don’t have any of those spineless worms tagging along. They’d just slow the rest of our team down.”
This successfully tricks Ace into volunteering to join the team.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Rook’s nickname for Ace is “Monsieur Heart”, and it seems that this confused the EN team in this scene. In Rook’s original line he is commenting on how contrary Ace is, as Riddle was able to trick him into joining the team by insinuating he would fail. On EN, however, it seems they assumed Rook was referring to Riddle as “Monsieur Heart”, and so they changed the word “contrary” to “devious.” Rook’s nickname for Riddle is, however, “Roi de Roses”, so Rook is confusingly calling Ace devious after he gets tricked by Riddle on EN.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Riddle insists upon Ace participating in Fairy Gala IF, with Ace explaining, “I tried to say no, and he got so mad he nearly had my head!...Since I’d suffer either way, might as well make sure the housewarden owes me.”
Riddle nominates Ace after being impressed by his sleight of hand trick the earlier vignette, and Ace says that he may have gotten carried away because it was one of the few times that Riddle openly complimented him.
Ace tells Riddle, “I hope you show some proper appreciated when I get back.”
When the group fails Riddle says he will take full responsibility for trusting them in the first place.

Wedding Bells in the Air?
After the resounding success of Saturday's Gala d'Opéra, many were quick to notice the tell-tale signs of romance in the air, both from within the confines of the royal box and outside of it. Throughout the event there were signs of courtship and entertainment, and while it provides us with some answers, we are now faced with even more questions, especially where our dear Monseigneur is concerned.
Despite such excitement, we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the artistry and extravagance of l’Opéra Royale in their stunning production of La Fille du Régiment. Alexandrine Solé was the most immaculate Marie, her youthful exhuberance throughout Act I a brillant contrast to the devastated lament she portrayed in "C’en est donc fait". Florent Hémery portrayed a commanding yet innocent Tonio, and his "Ah! Mes amis" had the members of nobility in attendance thouroughly enthralled, the applause bursting with enthusiasm.
Following the performance it is known Monsieur le Roi et Madame la Reine, along with members of la famille royale and their guests, went backstage to congratulate the performers, musicians, and all the members of l’Opéra Royale. Madame la Reine especially took the time to introduce Solé and Hémery to the Madame Royale, Mademoiselle Valery and, to our surprise, Mademoiselle Roux, daughter to the Comte et Comtesse de Gregny.
It appears Mademoiselle Roux has caught the attention of le Comte de Montavin, son to the Marquis de Montavin, and nephew to Madame la Reine through his departed mother. The two appeared rather taken with one another throughout the evening, leaving us to wonder if there may be wedding bells for le Comte just around the bend.
Though one cannot speak of wedding bells without considering the most recent actions of Monseigneur L'Épin, who upon the arrival of Mademoiselle Valery, stepped in to usher her out of the carriage like a mere footmen! Those who were witness to the display were left utterly confounded, including le Duc et Duchesse de Clèrisseau. Why would the Monseigneur put himself in such a position? Especially for those below his status? Whether or not we find the answer, it was clear throughout the evening that his intentions for Mademoiselle Valery seem to be solidifying, and whether or not that is a good thing for the country is still left to be decided. Perhaps we should understand more in the coming weeks.
Next on the calendar for la famille royale and the nobility will be the Prix de Thornolie, set to take place at the newly finished Parc du Bois d'Épine and the last major event to take place before le Monseigneur announces his betrothal. We are certain that while indecisive, our Monseigneur is taking the time to consider all his options, and we hope that with his last official outing before the decision he will take the time to consider all his choices carefully.

Epel felmier x childhood friend! Reader
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today was epel's birthday and I decided since he can't come home and visit I'll come to him.
So now I'm stood infront of epels dorm with a small present bag. I am so nervous, I feel like a fish out of water everything here was so fancy, while I was in denim-shorts with a red flannle shirt and adorned on the back if my neck was a staw hat and Simple brown boots were on my feet caked in dirt and muck.
"Bonjour mademoiselle, how may I help you," a thick french voice asked. "Oh! Umm...,i'm y/n,jm looking for epel felmier,he's my friend"
"Ah! Of course,mon cheri, follow me" I nod and start following the figure. We enter fancy dorm "ehem!" I spin around to see a more fancier looking man with hair dyed purple at the end.
"Rook whyd you bring in a muck?" "Ah!, Roi de Poison, this is y/n, a friend of epel from his village"
This 'rou de poison' dude eyed me suspicious and slowly circled me. "Hmm, you do have good bone structure but you dotn look suitable enough to see epel right now in you're...state"
I send him a weird look. "Hey! I'm just dropping off gifts from us from hone then I'll be gon-"
"Sh! I won't hear it, rook, to the salon" he started to walk away and rook grabbed my arm draging me along behind him.
I was pulled into a seat infrotn of a vanity decorated with all kinda of make up.
"Rook, give me a hair brush and the hair spray" my hair was unbraided from its plat and a brush was draged through my hair.
My head was pulled back. "Keep you're head up," the dyed haired hissed pushing my head back up.
"So tell me,mon cheri, how come we didn't meet you when we visited?"rook asked curiously.
"Oh I was hunting some animals to feed mine plus other familys"
In the reflection I could see the one behind me grimace.
"Oh! You have a hunting group?" "Yeah we call it 'hunters of artimis' after the Greek god"
Rook nods.
"Now we've finished your hair...time for make up...oh the great seven please epel and sit still."
"Oh beautiful vil, they're from the same place, I'll say they'll be co-operative"
This new named vil person sat next to me and opened up a make up pallet.
"Tell me more about your hunter group, please mademoiselle"
"Well we use different wepons; bows,swords,spears and sometimes Poison in winter"
One side of my face was lightly grabbed and tilted.
"You've used Poison?" Vil asked Intriged now by our conversation.
"Yes, the alchemist make Poison that's harmless to humans but extremly deadly on animal
We don't tell the village about the alchemist but a small portion of the village is part of it"
He let out an odd chuckle. "Face me" he ordered.
I shuffle round and face vil as he starts on my left side. "How can a Poison be deadly to animals and not humans?" He asked.
"Well, we had done some test on dead trees that had animal remains on and we tried on some human bones..." I grimace with vil remembering the testing process "and human bones we bought from a neighbouring village who's culture is too sell the dead on
Then we added hyoblplical acid with HASIC2 ( i have no idea what that is i made it up) and got the results we needed"
I suddenly glinch as cold liquid was pressed on my face. "What was that?!" I panic moving back slightly. "Foundation, now come back closer I'm nowhere near done"
~~~~after all...that~~~~~~~
"Now you're outfit, rook something poofy or layed down"
"Hmm...I'd say poofy but not met-gala poofy, Roi de Poison"
He nods and grabs a few dresses from the rack. "Why... you know what never mind"
Considering this dorm I couldn't ask why they had dresses because nearly everyone here looks as a fem-boy (not that its a bad thing!!!)
I was unceremoniously pushed into a changing room. "Come out when you're done" vil ordered I sigh I just wanted to say happy birthday to epel, deliver gifts and go back home,not have a runway show.
I removed my clothes (and shoes) and slip into this fancy weird outdated dress. Slowly I step out aqwuardly "no," "no" "agreed"
This prossess happened til I just grabbed one at random and decided that is the one.
I close y eyes tightly and grab a dress hoping for the best.
My hand grabbed one that felt comfy in my hands and had no weird spinening. I open my eyes to see a lovely lilac dress
I put it on easily and step out. "Alright I'm open with a runway can I just see my friend?" I beg crossing my arms.
"Hmm, suits you well enough don't you agree rook?" "Oui"
A unrelated sigh left my lips and I grab my clothes from the changing room.
Rook took them and placed them in a bag "I'm sure these heels will fit fine"
I nod and slid them on. "Can I see epel now?"
"Yes,follow us" a exhausted groan left my mouth as I follow holding my stuff.
We ended in a ballroom filled either people chatting away in groups and food along one side of the room with drink on the other.
"Y/n?" My head darts around for that familiar voice. I lock eyes with epel. "Epel!" I yell running up to him full speed.
I lock arms around his neck as his lock aroudn my waist spinning me around.
When I was placed down a few 'awws' or cheering was heard.
"Y/n, baby, you look so Pomefiore like" he laughs. "Well someone found me when rook tried to take me to you and decided a fashion show was ideal" I laugh along pointing at vil.
Epels arms stayed around my waist with his head resting on my sholder.
Vil and rook aproched "so, epel, you baby potato are dating her, a potential model lf tried hard enough" I roll my eyes "you wish drama queen"
Third person;
Y/n laugh with epel "oh! I have to show ya the gardens there amazing!" Epel grabs his beloved hand and
I sigh taking in the moment and rest my head on epels chest. "I love you" i mumble "me too, my sweet apple"
As the clock struck midnight epel picked you up bridal style and carrier you inside.
"It appears baby potato has found love way before we knew rook" vil laughs.
(these are all from my drafts help)

Up, AlexDub #reggae #reggaemusic #dub #bass #world #oriental #indiemusic #indie #singer #instrument #worldmusic #chronique #review #CultureDub #culture #instrumental #album @lee_fry_music @culturedub https://www.instagram.com/p/CpQArPVtJAv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Leona Info Compilation part 3: Ruggie (pt1)
Ruggie describes his relationship with Leona as “give-and-take”, saying that he is doing the same thing as the hyenas who joined hands with the “King of Beasts” of legend in order to improve their lives.
This comes up repeatedly in Book 2, where Ruggie expresses a desire to show the world Leona “standing over a battered Malleus Draconia”, as “maybe some top corporate recruiters will even take an interest in a little ol’ hyena like me.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rook describes their bond as “strong as diamonds…even with its peculiarities” when Ruggie refuses to give up Leona’s weaknesses, even as Rook takes him physically by the tail, saying that as “a most willful hunter” he has no intention of letting Ruggie go until he gets what he wants.
When Rook threatens to turn his focus onto Ruggie instead Ruggie finally gives in, but the secret he gives up is simply Leona’s dislike for vegetables.
Rook is satisfied by this information.
Ruggie expresses surprise that Rook doesn’t want to know something more damaging and Rook responds, “That may suffice for a mere beast, but my opponent is the roi des lions. I prefer something more…exhilarating. Like when slides a pawn across the entire chessboard. Or like when one leads a beauty in their first dance…"
"He is a classmate and a friend, as well as a rival who puts my skills to the test. At least, he is for now.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see Ruggie defend Leona against Vil as well, refusing to lead Vil to Leona’s location even after it is revealed that Leona has been skipping out on a punishment for poor attendance, refusing to water plants in the greenhouse, causing Vil’s plants to wilt.
Leona and Ruggie seem to get along very well despite the power imbalance between them, working well together during Halloween, New Year’s and Fairy Gala, where Leona volunteers Ruggie’s pickpocketing talents.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ruggie claims to need 15 seconds to manage his task in the heist, which Leona cuts down to ten seconds on his behalf.
On the day of the event, Ruggie requires only six seconds, saying, “Who needs ten seconds? You insult me, Leona.”
During Book 6 Leona saves Ruggie from falling, broken glass in the botanical gardens and hands over his position of Housewarden to Ruggie when kidnapped by Charon.

OZ's 2023
Tumblr media
______
Ch-ch-ch-changes
•••
Going to keep this year's recap brief. Not sure if anyone reads these, but I reference them sometimes when necessary.
The main thing of note this year was my workload.
I returned to concert performance following the pandemic lull of 2020-2022. I played about a dozen shows with Pepperland in the second half of the year, beginning with a private event in rural Alberta and ending by closing an awards gala for hundreds of folks at the Edmonton Expo Centre (video below) and a sold out NYE show at the Blue Chair. More performances with Pepperland and others are planned for 2024.
youtube
I also broke my first guitar string(s) since 2011!
My radio work unexpectedly shifted into high gear this year. Following various developments in 2022, I planned to drastically scale back my fill-in work at CKUA - particularly during the daytime programs. However, through some cosmic irony, by the end of 2023 I ended up doing more radio work than ever before. My previous record for fill-in shows in a single year was 95. I ended 2023 having acted as a guest-host on 141 occasions, in addition to my own weekly show. This was not planned, and nearly all of those 141 shows have been classical music programs. I have been operating since February as the guest-host of Classic Examples during the long term absence of the regular host Mark Antonelli.
My weekly Friday night Albertan music program In Our Neighbourhood continues on CKUA. Also continuing, now in its fourth year, my collaboration with NME as the Senior Producer on their podcast series The No Normal.
Working this many weeknights has had the unfortunate consequence of my family rarely being in the same place together. What little time we've shared has been spent introducing my kid to Star Trek.

OTHER MUSIC THOUGHTS FROM THE ZIBLIOTHEK
In 2020, I started an alphabetical exploration of the Zibliothek’s vinyl collection. I’ve also been documenting the LP library and other aspects of the collection on Instagram. At my current rate, it will take me 13-15 years to listen to the full LP library. I made inconsistent progress in 2023, listening in waves with long gaps between opportunities. Here’s some of what I listened to this year:
Lou Christie: I once read he was Egyptian. This has proven difficult misinformation to shake. Some goofy goodies in his catalogue.
Eric Clapton: Outside of his 1965-1968 period, I am decidedly not a fan of Clapton as a person or musician. With the exception of his Unplugged album, which has strong moments, nearly everything since Derek & the Dominoes has been criminally dull. I can honestly say I never need to hear his music again.
Petula Clark: Great voice. Sometimes great songs too.
Roy Clark: I like his music best when I can't see him playing it.
The Clash: Tremendous.
Joe Cocker: Great bands behind him. Often great performances too. Not always strong material.
Patsy Cline / Leonard Cohen / Nat King Cole / Perry Como / Sam Cooke: All tremendous.
Ry Cooder: I remain a bit mystified by Ry Cooder. Admired by countless people I enjoy, but his music does nothing for me.
Elvis Costello: A very strong catalogue, and consistently enjoyable.
Cream: Clapton at his best, fighting for space in a tempest of madmen.
Creedence Clearwater Revival: I've never been a big fan. With a few exceptions, the overplayed radio hits remain tiresome. I have a vague memory of their live "Royal Albert Hall" album being strong, and I like their debut album and Cosmo's Factory, but everything in between was pretty plodding and dull overall.
Jim Croce: What a catalogue he might have produced had he lived. Some gigantic tunes.
The Cowsills: The hits still hit.
Bing Crosby: The birth of croon, but not the greatest in his field.
Crosby, Stills, and Nash (and Young): Great when they're good, forgettable when they're not.
Bobby Darin: I love his work, his young voice was one of the all-time greats for that kind of music. As his voice changed, he still used it well, but it was never as magical after the early 1960s.
Dave Cark / The Dave Clark Five: Business genius, funny drummer, some of the best British Invasion songs going. Mike Smith was a tremendously underrated rock & roll singer in his youth.
Deep Purple: Finally listened to the bulk of their peripheral catalogue. Several of their albums are essential for any library. Their early Mk I period is underrated heavy pop, before they found their signature sound. The iconic Mk II period is musically tremendous and lyrically abysmal, and Made In Japan still might be the greatest live album of all time. The Mk III period (and the Tommy Bolin years) weren't as bad as I anticipated, but didn't keep my attention either. The quality of the music seems unconnected to the quality of the album artwork.
Deep Purple solo projects: These range from forgettable to awful in almost every case. Some of Jon Lord's early works are nice to hear, but I love Jon Lord. Still don't understand the appeal of Tommy Bolin.
John Denver: I enjoyed his Rocky Mountain High album, but curiously his two greatest hits albums are painfully weak.
Delaney & Bonnie & Friends: Alright, I guess. Nothing special. Early shades of Clapton the boring.
Derek & the Dominoes: Sometimes very good.
•••
This song came out in 2022 rather than 2023. Despite being familiar and a fan of Bill McClintock, I only discovered it a month ago. I've listened to it dozens of times and it might be the greatest mash-up ever made. Maybe even the best thing period.

No pithy ending for 2023. Be safe. Be well. Good luck going forward in 2024.

Gala de l'Opéra Tonight!
After the stimulating events following la famille royale's outing at les Fêtes des Fleurs, Thornolians are more than eager for the festivities expected during tonight’s Gala de l'Opéra. With the opening of another grand monument the evening is sure to dazzle all those in attendance, and while many will of course be focused on the incredible work put on by l’Opéra Royale in their new establishment, many others will be sneaking a peek into the royal box for a glimpse of our Monseigneur and his current courting endeavours.
Despite there being no word whether or not Monseigneur L'Épin extended an invitation, we do know all members of la famille royale will be in attendance, just as they were a week ago at the opening of Le Jardin d'Avigneux. It is expected for Monsieur le Roi and Madame la Reine to meet with the many of those involved in putting together tonight’s grand affair, ranging from the performers all the way to the architects involved with gracing the heart of the city with such a stunning work of heart.
Yet while we should all give thanks to such fine people, we cannot help but return focus to our Monseigneur. Given the sudden indecisiveness witnessed during les Fêtes des Fleurs, many have wondered if we were so quick to assume him a man capable of choosing a bride good enough to be the future Madame la Reine. And with no word on whether he has offered anyone anyone an invitation, should we all start showing signs of concern? Does he have no interest in any of the mademoiselles presented to him thus far?
Or, of course, should we focus instead on the two mademoiselles he’s already shown an interest in? We at the chronicle have already voiced our opinions regarding Mademoiselle Valery and Mademoiselle Aubert, but given the fact that Monseigneur L'Épin has particularly given his attentions to these two so much over the last few weeks, should we instead wonder if he’s having difficulty making a decision between them? This seems the more likely situation.
Only time will tell, and tonight, hopefully, we shall see Monseigneur L'Épin looking more certain in his decisions.
