#ghost city host club

Note
for the ask game, an au where HuaLian's "first" meeting didn't happen during the ghost bridegroom case, or maybe a different way it could have gone (I've just started the tgcf novel so I'm very excited to see you tgcf posting :D)
1 - About 400 years after Xie Lian was kicked out from the heavens for the second time, his bad luck led him straight to Ghost City and he gets involved into an accident that causes a ridiculous amount of costly damage. Half of the city wants his head on a pike and he is about to fight his way out of this mess when he is offered to work in order to reimburse his debt. Xie Lian finds it fair enough, tries several physical jobs in which he's good but that doesn't make enough money, until he finds the one job that should get him out in less than ten years: host. (Do not question how hosts can exist in this setting.)
2 - Does Xie Lian have any idea of what he is doing? Absolutely not. He still manages to be the most popular host in the entire city. Because he is ridiculously beautiful but also because he is just so nice with everyone??? He genuinely listens to people?
3 - Some time later, Hua Cheng comes back to Ghost City after one of his "Let's look for Danxia" trip and is in one hell of a bad mood because he once again failed to find him. So he is absolutely furious when he hears about a random nobody using the Flower Crowned Martial God's appearance to make some cash. His. God's. Appearance. This is unforgivable. He immediately goes to the establishment, under a disguise, in order to trap then to inflict some horrible karmic punishment on whoever is using a fake skin that will be undoubtedly a pale copy of the crown prince of Xianle... which is why Hua Cheng is taken completely by surprised by Xie Lian's sheer radiance when they met. None of that smooth San Lang business where he psyched himself for a week straight while Black Water and Yin Yu listened to his breakdown over his god's beauty. He didn't have the time to vent all his simpness out of his system and that first meeting almost dissipates the poor guy.
4 - Hua Cheng starts to visit Xie Lian daily, officially to confirm his identity because that could be a mole or an assassin sent by his enemy and because there is 0,001% that someone managed to create a perfect skin of the crowned prince of Xianle. He never wears the same appearance twice (coincidentally, his various disguises are always beautiful and stylish) and is unaware that Xie Lian sees through them every single time.
5 - Hua Cheng keeps giving incredibly expensive gifts to Xie Lian because it's what you're supposed to do when you see a host, right? At least, until Yin Yu points out that if he keeps doing that, Xie Lian will reimburse his debt and leaves by next month.
+ 1 - E-Ming doesn't care about Hua Cheng being a fool and keeps jumping in Xie Lian's lap after escaping a certain ghost king. Xie Lian adores it.

Tumblr media
hello! it's amy! if you follow my personal account, you'd already know what this is. body double is a side project that i do for fun inbetween infamous, just for when i need to refresh my brain! i decided to make a blog for it so i don't flood my personal account with this game lol.
This game is a side project that I do when I need inspiration for Infamous. That means development on it will be sloooow. Infamous is my main priority right now!
Tumblr media
Body Double is a an interactive story that takes place in a cyberpunk inspired world where top secret operatives of an elusive Cypress Industries have the unique ability to jump bodies.
Agent Sawyer is the best Agent in the business, tasked with protecting Cypress Industries and all of its assets.
Until three weeks ago.
Framed for the president's murder and in a last-ditch effort to save their ass, they switch bodies with our regular, ordinary IT-tech MC...who is now walking in the body of a suspect the entire city is looking for. Stuck in a citywide manhunt, MC is now on the run with a pesky Agent who refuses to tell them where their body is. To make matters worse, Agent Sawyer's subconcious is stuck in their head, speaking to them like a pest MC can't shake off.
Wonderful.
With a help of a host of characters from Sawyer's past and MC's present, MC will have to throw themself in a conspiracy to clear Sawyer's name and get back to normal. Relatively. No pressure.
Tumblr media
The usual IF stuff: customize your mc from personality to appearance. Unsurprisingly from me, BODY DOUBLE is a character driven story with a focus on relationship dynamics, angst and drama...but this time with action.
Mold Sawyer in the prologue and be stuck with them in your head for the rest of the story. Are they humorous? Stoic? Vulgar? Emotional? Arrogant? You decide.
Romance characters like Sawyer's ex (messy) or the human-mech hybrid trying to kill you (messy) or your measly IT tech friend who has no idea what the hell is going on but they're a trooper. Or an AI. Your call.
Try to uncover a conspiracy and solve a murder in a cyberpunk setting.
Don't die?
Tumblr media
SAWYER [RO][customizable]: the agent accused of murder. The wires get crossed when they switch bodies with you, and somehow you have their subconcious in your head. They refuse to switch back until you help clear their name even though you're in their body, which means people are after you now. Asshole move, really.
ROACH: Sawyer's twin brother and perpetual hermit. As a hacker, he has eyes all over the city. He also misses his sibling, so he's determined to see it through.
AGENT BECK [f or m] [RO]: A cool and intimidating fellow Agent of Cypress Industries...and Sawyer's ex partner. Sawyer dumped them, broke their heart, and since then, ghosted them (as one does.) With that said, Beck is determined to help you. And them. Just make sure to try to ignore the longing looks they send your way. It's not towards you, of course.
CAI [RO] [f, m or nb models] : Cypress AI or CAI is Sawyer's former field partner. Honest, cold and emotionless, you can't believe CAI is actually helping you. It must be going against their every makeup to go against Cypress, but having someone like them on your side is beneficial, at least.
HAWKE [m][RO]: the mech-human hybrid tasked with hunting you down. Well, hunting Sawyer down. Their one mission is to see you (Sawyer) dead, which poses a problem so as long as you're in this body. So there's that.
SOLANA [f][RO]: the elusive club owner...and the last person to see the president alive. You can't tell if Solana is an ally or an enemy, but you do know the one thing that drives her is power. Good to keep an eye on her, anyway.
AXL [nb] [RO]: the wealthy child of the now dead president and new heir of Cypress Industries. They hate your (Sawyer's) guts. They have hired all the best operatives and assassins to take you (Sawyer) down, and will stop and nothing to get their justice. If only you could convince them otherwise...
MAV [f or m] [RO]: your best friend and fellow IT employee. A trooper, who decides to be your sidekick on this weird...journey. No biggie. Make sure they don't die.
Tumblr media
As usual, BD is 18+ for adult themes, explicit language, suggestive situations, violence and more! <3

High Life:
One life. Eighteen players, eighteen penthouses. One city
At the beginning of the season, they are randomly assigned a character backstory and motive to kill. No one is allowed to know their motive, but they must use their backstory to craft a character they will play as
For the first three sessions, they will interact with the other players, making friends and enemies in a fully fleshed out city map. The first two hours are dedicated to socializing in places like the penthouses, clubs, libraries, etc., similar to the Sims
In the final hour, everyone meets at “The Tower”, a large skyscraper in the center of the city hosting a casino. While none of these locations actually serve a purpose, the goal is to get as many people in a confined space as possible—not only creating tensions as enemies are forced to interact, but to establish future opportunities for murder
At the very end of the third session, players are forced to “lock in” who they will be targeting for the foreseeable future. Alliances really help in this situation; the less enemies they’ve made, the less someone will be likely to target them
They must also take into consideration their character’s assigned motivations and how easy the killing will be; an ally that trusts them would be easy to lure away and kill, but might not make sense for their character. Killing an enemy would raise suspicion. If they kill too early, the target won’t have any content for the series. If their target does not die in the next two sessions, they die instead. When their target does die, by their hand or another’s, they must lock in yet another person
Come session four, everything runs as normal… but now murder is allowed. Players can corner, lure, sabotage, or outright kill their targets by any means possible, whether it’s pushing someone off of a rooftop dinner party or inviting the target to their penthouse. If they are spotted committing the murder by another player, they will die. Death messages are turned off in chat so they cannot be caught unless someone actually watches it happen
As people work to kill their targets, they still must meet in “The Tower”. Less and less people show up each time, confirming who has and has not died. Accusations can run rampant, and tensions raise even higher. Like in a certain hit game, players will vote on the accused and who they killed. Correct guesses will have the suspect killed, otherwise nothing will happen
The last two people standing, however long that takes, will fight to the death at the top of “The Tower”. The ghosts of the targets they’ve killed will assign them handicaps (ex. no armor or weapons) while the rest of the spectators can give them minor buffs (ex. one second regen at half health). The more people you’ve hurt, the harder it will be to win
Oh yeah, they also must wear fancy suits/dresses the entire time :)
🌃
(Sorry this is so long but think of the drama… the heartbreaking betrayal, the inevitable weirdly-charged half-romance, the arguments and accusations, the classy atmosphere undermined by a darker theme…)
PLEASE never apologize for long asks, this is INCREDIBLE!
If someone doesn't write this fanfic, I will. I can picture it so vividly. Are you kidding me. The FAN CONTENT this would make-

{Candy Cane Cupid}
Tumblr media
Program: Holidays come around every year with mixed emotion. Excitement buzzes as clones celebrate their first Life Day with their partners after the war. Disappointment is pushed to the back of your mind as you keep yourself busy at work while your riduur is away. Mischief is in the air when Cupid finally reveals his holiday surprise for you.
Pairing: Commander Wolffe x Bartender, GN! Reader
Genre: Hurt/Comfort
Length: 2017w
Warnings: Mention of candy cane, alcohol + club scene, bittersweet emotions around the holidays, barely edited bc my brain is v smooth from work, probs slight out of character Wolffe (see counselor note below), barely edited as usual oops
Camp Resolute Masterlist
ClonexReader Masterlist
For the lovely @sinfulsalutations - Happy fic exhange and holiday season! I hope you enjoy. ^_^ I tried to make it a lil Hallmark moment. Part of the Life Day Exchange for @cloneficgiftexchange hosted by Ghost.
Prompt: 79s For @clonexreaderbingo event hosted by Ghost.
Counselor Note: I apologize if it's not that festive or good. Been in a funk as of recently, but I had fun writing this and trying to explore Wolffe as a character more. I know he's more stoic and serious in canon, but I wanted to explore how he would balance happiness, relaxation, and the familiarity of pulling rank during post war.
Tumblr media
It seems like all of Coruscant has decided to spend the evening out amongst the city levels for holiday celebrations. Still only a year since the Clone Wars were won, everyone carries a warm happiness and joyfulness as they weave through club lines with their friends. Former troopers gather in boisterous groups outside of clubs, eagerly waiting for their first Life Day celebration. The usual clubbers are surrounded by new faces who easily share their nervousness and excitement for what the night may bring.
79s, normally vibrant with yellow and orange neon lights, now welcome tonight’s guests with more festive colored lighting and music. Even the tired club staff seem to be able to find one last bit of energy to push through the night with the holiday cheer.
The tips of your fingers sting from gripping the chilled shaker as your gaze flits across the crowd of dancers and party goers. The small semblance of hope that you kept tucked away deep in your heart slowly sizzles when you can’t find a gray battalion ribbon in the crowd of troopers. Red ribbons pack tightly into a booth as they play a game of Sabbac and try to teach their partners. Blue ribbons spread across the dance floor as they find dates for the evening. Orange ribbons stick close to the end of the bar as they share a flight of beer and stories. Not a single gray ribbon in the crowd to be found tonight. Your chest constricts, squeezing all the air out of your lungs in disappointment. The last flicker of hope fizzles and stings your heart. Hitting the shaker against the bartop harder than intended, you pour a bright blue cocktail into its glass and slide it over to a giggling patron. You watch with yearning as she’s pulled into the side of her partner, who sports a green ribbon, before they maneuver through the growing mass of people to join their friends.
“Still no sign of Wolffe?” Kiva carefully asks. Walking past you from the side entrance of the bar with a crate of seasonal beer, he squats down to the small fridge at the base of the bar shelves. He looks up at you with a concerned expression as he slides the fridge door open.
“He said he wasn’t even sure if he was going to be in the system even after Life Day,” you casually explain. Darting your tongue over your bottom lip, you shrug and turn to grab a new drink slip. Unable to meet Kiva’s all too familiar sympathetic gaze, you grab the mixers and spirits for the next order. Your heart races out of rhythm to the upbeat songs pulsing through the club. As the liquids spill into your new shaker, your stomach knots and twists leaving agony to swim through your body.
“I don’t even know why I’m bothering to look for him. The last we spoke, he and Plo Koon were just summoned to attend the peace accords on Soreno,” you breathlessly ramble. Once the final words tumbles past your lip, your throat tightens and you slam the top of the shaker shut before Kiva can reassure you.
Guilt stings the back of your neck as you shake the drink above your shoulder. The day that Wolffe shared that he was reinstated as a Marshall Commander, you immediately called for celebration. All his closest brothers and your friend group filled into a bar just down the street from your shared home. It wasn’t until the two of you fell into bed and silence separated you from Wolffe’s bliss that you realized the two of you wouldn’t have a different life after the war. Wolffe would still be systems away from you a majority of the time. The realization sank in further when he couldn’t wish you a happy birthday in person with the rest of your loved ones. A solemn understanding was made when he missed your two year anniversary to help with an aid mission. The mundane moments and memories you had hoped to create with Wolffe were nothing like the ones that your friends share of their partners' first year away from the GAR.
Not even realizing that you had slowed your actions, a gentle hand takes the shaker from yours and pours it into the glass in front of you. With a sigh, you face Kiva’s kind, understanding expression after he slides the drink over to a trooper with a yellow ribbon.
“Give him a call. Maybe you’d be surprised by the answer?” he softly encourages. Hope and mischief dance across his face while he grabs your hand to pull you away from the order line.
“Why would I do that when I already know the answer?” you tiredly push back. Fatigue and numbness wrap around your bones, and you can only stumble after Kiva out of the bar. “It’s not even my break yet for the second half. Not to sound too pessimistic, but I’d rather just work the doubles if I can’t spend the holidays with my partner”.
“Well,” Kiva exclaims, “Call me your candy cane cupid, because I have a surprise for you.” He winks and pulls you through the group of women with glittering dresses and warm sweaters.
Your heart hammers against your eardrums at Kiva’s words. “What do you mean?” you hastily ask. Kiva’s laughter mixes with the music while the two of you weave through the clusters of clones towards the CO table, a now long standing tradition at 79s even after the war. When you break through the last wall of party goers, the entire club blurs around you.
Kiva steps to your side, and the booth is empty with all but one person sitting behind the table with two glasses of Corellian whiskey. Ambient lighting dances across Wolffe’s tired expression, and you can just make out the small smile pulling at the corner of his lips. One that only makes a fleeting appearance when you’re nearby or mentioned in conversation.
“Happy Life Day,” Kiva expresses with a beaming smile, “Now go celebrate and enjoy the holiday festivities”.Before you can even thank him, Kiva shoots you a wink and disappears into the crowd once more.
You watch in disbelief as that rare smile grows across Wolffe’s face while he moves out of the booth.Without a second thought, you stumble through the last few troopers wearing gray ribbons to throw yourself into Wolffe’s arms. “I thought you said you weren’t going to be home until after the holiday,” you choke out into his chest. Warm amber and musk mix to create Wolffe’s signature cologne, and you press yourself further into his embrace. His calloused hands roam across your back leaving sparks in their wake even when separated by your clothing.
“Your friend cupid has his ways,” Wolffe chuckles. His heart hammers as he reacquaints himself with your touch. How it feels to have his riduur in his arms once more. How the sound of your voice eases every worry from his mind. How being with you feels like home. Sliding his hands to your waist, he carefully pulls you from his body to fully be able to see you. Wolffe admires the small changes in your appearance as hues of blue, gold, and purple dance across your face. For just a moment, everything feels at peace. The anxiety of moving to another system in a few cycles disappears. None of the teasing remarks from his younger brothers get under his skin. Only you matter, and all the tension from his body dissipates. “Sorry, I got distracted. How are your eyes so pretty?” he murmurs almost to himself.
“Didn’t know you could be such a sap,” you sniffle with a light laugh. “You still haven’t answered my question.”
Wolffe’s smile softens with remorse. “I know I haven’t been around as much as either of us had hoped. And I know I’ve let you down when I’ve missed important milestones for us this year. I wanted to make sure we could spend our first Life Day together,” he explains.
“I don’t want you to feel like you’ve done anything wrong,” you rush to assure him. Tears sting your lasline from the overwhelming storm of emotion raging inside you. When you move to wipe the stray tears escaping, Wolffe tenderly cups your cheek with his hand. His calloused fingertip carefully traces the planes of your face and wipes away the tear from your cheek.
“I don’t,” Wolffe reassures you. “I know that this isn’t what we had imagined for either of our lives after the war, and I don’t want us to drift apart because of that. I’m here because I need you to understand that nothing is going to stop me from coming home to you. Nothing was going to stop me from spending Life Day with you this year or any year in the future, alright?”
All the loneliness and yearning from the cycles spent alone crash down onto you. Tears freely fall down your cheeks as you tuck yourself into the crook of Wolffe’s neck. “I’ve missed you so much,” you admit. “I didn’t want to say anything, because I know how much Plo and the GAR means to you, but I’ve missed you so much.” Your voice breaks at the end of your confession, and you pull away from his body to wipe your tears from your face.
“I’ve missed you, cyar’ika. More than you could imagine,” Wolffe mumbles into the top of your head. His heart stings at your cries, and he wraps his arms around you in a tight embrace. “I’m home now. It’s going to be okay, yeah? We’re going to figure this out”.
You let Wolffe guide you into the booth, and the two of you settle into the far corner. Draping your legs over his lap, you tuck yourself into his side and look at him in adoration. “We’re both a mess without each other, huh? Have absolutely no idea what to do without the other,” you tease. Wolffe chuckles and nods after taking a sip of his whisky. He ducks his head to press his lips to the shell of your ear and whispers: “Tell anyone and we may just have to leave early.” His warm breath tickles across your neck, and he squeezes your thigh as the rest of the Wolfpack join you with their partners.
For the first time during the holiday season, you’re able to sink into Wolffe’s arms and enjoy the company around you. Not a single member of the pack or their partners neglect to see how you’ve been. Plans begin to easily come into creation to squeeze in a few more holiday outings for you and Wolffe to join. A glimpse of the life that you hoped to create with Wolffe after the war finally playing out. Yet, it wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t where you were currently at in life.
During a bout of laughter, you look over to Wolffe and find him already gazing at you with that all too familiar smile tugging at his lips. You cup his jaw and press a fleeting kiss to the corner of his mouth. Pulling away, the two of you share a look of adoration before sharing a soft kiss in the privacy of your own world. The two of you fall into rhythm with each other as if no time had passed. Lost in the moment, it’s not until his brothers start to howl and their partners tell them to leave you and Wolffe alone that the two of you break from the kiss.
“Mind your damn business,” Wolffe barks back to his snickering brothers. “How many times did I turn a blind eye to when you brought back your cy’are to the barracks?” Instantly the snickers silence as the older brothers laugh at the young clones.
Rolling his eyes as the conversation redirects to tomorrow’s outing, Wolffe pulls you closer into his side. Pressing a tender kiss to your temple, he rests his forehead against yours. “Happy Life Day, riduur”.

Anyway the year is coming to its end and it was probably the most bewildering year of my life so here's a summary of some of the more random events
The year began with finally being able to reach my best friend who had ghosted me a few weeks prior, asking why she left and getting told I was too boring for her.
Desperate for human interaction I went to a lecture on feminism in a bar, started talking to the organizers because I had never attended events they'd hosted before, traded numbers and now we're best friends and I'm part of their organization and we're planning weekend trips together.
Also I got an issue of a feminist magazine at said lecture and was amazed by it, and recently I wrote an article for it myself after the girl running it personally requested it.
I graduated school with an average of 2.3 which is insanely good, considering I didn't study the slightest bit for my finals and didn't do my homework in three years.
I went to a graduation party, met a guy I seemingly grooved with and we ended up drinking an entire bottle of white wine and making out on the town square as the entire crowd cheered for us. That evening we went to a club together, started dancing and talking and then I found out he was transphobic and ended the relationship the next day.
I saw MCR live and I was in the third row and Mikey Way winked at me, and that's like one of my biggest flexes now.
I went to pride in our neighbouring town. Then I went to pride in our town a few weeks later and made out with a very attractive trans guy and a very pretty lesbian, both of which I lost touch with. Luke, if you're out there and you're single again, I'm still available.
I went to a fun fair with a guy I'd briefly met at pride and all his friends which I'd never seen before and at some point that evening I was driven to my hometown in the back of a black van with tinted windows belonging to a guy I didn't know and basically just hoped I wouldn't get murdered later.
I went to an antifascist summer camp for three days, got a crash course in krav maga and tried to defend the camp with a rock when I thought we were being attacked (it was fine, they were just fireworks in the valley)
I went on a cross country train trip with a guy that I later found out was a serial rapist, and miraculously nothing happened to me.
I went to the first party in my life that lasted all night, a very hot band member with immaculate eyeliner danced with me and bought me a drink and at some point in the morning like four of us were sitting in an empty bar eating breakfast, drinking Berliner Luft and watching the sunrise.
I held my first ever self written speech at a protest.
I started bartending at a communist bar, which has the worst reputation in the entire city and is known and feared as Incredibly Shady™
I enrolled in university and started studying film and media.
I got wasted and randomly decided it would be fun to be a board member of the university film club so I texted the current board leader that I volunteer and now I'm a board member of the university film club despite being in my first semester and completely inexperienced.
I got drugged at the Christmas market.
I confessed a crush on someone, got rejected and miraculously we stayed friends instead of never speaking to each other again.
I spontaneously performed a vent poem about my crush as a punk song at a jam and now I'm being offered to be the frontman of a band by multiple people.
I became Tumblr famous with a Goncharov movie and my follower count rose from 1200 to over 6000 within a month.

cities in the us I think skz would be from
♡ chan - seattle, washington
I will die on the hill that chan is seattle coded. he just fits the grunge aesthetic so well, and after he performed smells like teen spirit in seattle it just solidified it for me. skz music definitely has some grunge influences so I think he would have gotten his start in the underground seattle music scene.
♡ lee know - new orleans, lousiana
where the weird and the mysterious thrive, so too would lee know. his entire vibe is dark and alluring on the outside but once you look past the exterior you see someone full of resilience, strength, and endless things to discover and to me that's very new orleans. since he makes such a charismatic host I feel like he'd be hosting walking tours through the fernch quarter where he can tell some ghost stories here and there and maybe give the tourists a little scare for his own entertainment.
♡ changbin - jersey city, new jersey
if you say changbin isn't jersey coded you're lying to yourself. our loud, muscular king would fit in perfectly with the jersey gym and beach culture. I could see him going to the gym during the day and out to the clubs at night to shake his ass to his favorite songs with his friends.
♡ hyunjin - newport, rhode island
okay follow me on this one, I know this sounds a little obscure but for some reason when I think of hyunjin as someone from the usa all I can think about is him living in some new england town painting the fall colors or sitting on his porch in a seaside home painting the ocean. it seems so peaceful and I feel like that suits him.
♡ han - new york city, new york
hanji is so nyc coded to me and since the maxident trailer lives rent free in my head, here we are. like imagine him living in a little new york apartment while he chases his music producer dreams. every night on his way home he pops into the bodega down the street to grab something to eat and gives their resident cat a few pets before heading home to work on more tracks in his home studio.
♡ felix - miami, florida
I feel like our aussie beach boy just needs to be somewhere warm and sunny with a good nightlife and let's be honest, miami is the place for that. he'd probably spend his days at the local dance studio before heading down the beach for a swim to relax after.
♡ seungmin - portland, oregon
seungmin's entire vibe just screams cozy coffee shop on a rainy day. I could see him sat by a window reading a book and sipping his americano just spending the afternoon soaking up the warmth and delicious smells inside the cafe. he would probably have a favorite spot he always sits where he can gaze out the window and people watch.
♡ jeongin - los angeles, california
we already know jeongin is from busan, he's accustomed to beautiful beaches, colorful places to explore, and great food, so to me it makes sense he'd be from los angeles. I feel like he'd be working his way towards being a singer and maybe giving some vocal lessons on the side to help himself along. on the weekends he's probably exploring some new place to eat with his friends.

Hey I figured I should do a lil about me type thing. Plz don't judge too harshly again this is my actual life. So anyway here we go! 😵‍💫
@all-things-ghostly thx for this idea
I was born in 2004 in Newport Beach and grew up in sunny southern California, specifically one city over from Anaheim. And yes, I went to Disneyland, quite often actually. I'd say I went maybe 2-3 times a month or if it was around the holidays or a special event it was every weekend if I could. So, needless to say, I know Disneyland pretty well. Unfortunately, I had to move out of California in 2017, but that's a story for another day.
I was, for a long time, afraid of the mansion, surprisingly enough. The only thing I was afraid of was the pop up ghosts so everytime I passed the gate to the graveyard I'd close my eyes until the ghost host said his line "Ah there you are." and I knew I was safe. That was until a friend of mine who was a few years older than me took me through it and pointed out which graves had pop ups and when they usually spring up. I wanna say that I was around 5 or 6 when this happened. O also I remember the beating heart bride before Constance kicked her out lmao. I remember not being afraid of her because she just kinda chilled out there, she was super pretty according to mini me. My parents r super mega Disney fans and we used to go to an actual Disney club in CA and I remember it was a big announcement at our monthly meeting that a new ghost was taking over the attic and it was super exciting. I also remember when they announced they were installing Hattie into the mansion again and it was super cool to me since I already knew the history of the figure.
Anyway enough about the mansion (for now). For a long time my favorite attraction in the park was Splash Mountain. Yes I understand everything now but back when they were taking it out I had no idea about song of the south and the underlying story of it all. Now that I understand tho, I can say that it was super problematic and really shouldn't have been there. I really just thought it was about cute fluffy animals singing about a rabbit escaping death and u get wet. I mostly liked it because it had a single rider line and it was nice to ride alone on a hot day.
I'd say Indiana Jones was my 2nd favorite, even tho their single rider was kinda on and off sometimes, and I didn't come around to actually riding it for fear of the mummies that come out at you, that big projection of kali that appears on the cieling in the skull room, and the giant snake, until I was 6 or 7. I say 6 or 7 because again that same friend helped me through it. But after I got through it with my eyes open I loved it.
Ok enough of park rambling because I could probably talk about the parks until I die and I still wouldn't be finished talking. So I moved away from Cali sadly and I had to part with the park and characters I so loved. I wouldn't say I forgot about my love for these characters but I would say it faded, a lot actually. So let's talk recent, like early July 2023. I forgot what movie I was watching but I remember seeing a certain trailer before the movie that hit me over the head with a comically sized cartoon hammer. I remember seeing the purple wallpaper and I got real confused because I didn't hear /anything/ about there being another HM movie much less a scary one. Like this trailer made me so incredibly happy I cannot even tell u. When I saw that jerky constance in the corner shot I damn near cried. I was finally getting a more scary Haunted Mansion movie WITH ACTUAL HAUNTED MANSION CHARACTERS. Ya that went on the calendar real quick. Then I saw it in theaters and o my god was that THE hatbox ghost?? O my god??? They put him in here! O... o no... he's... he's evil... and he's so sassy and stupid... And then I fell. I not only fell for Alistair but I also fell back in love with characters and places I hadn't been since I was 13. And that love that had faded from being away for so long grew vibrant and close again. Ok quit it with the gushy mushy shit, me. Anyway so I really loved this movie and I had a Tumblr account at the time. I mean I wasn't posting anything but I had it to look into cool niche Fandoms. So I did just that. I didn't expect like anything but I was overjoyed to see so many people loving characters that I feel don't get enough of it.
And the rest, as they say, is history.

SORRY THAT LAST ASK WAS EVIL here's a nice one what are some of your favourite memories from this year!!
LOL thank you
this got long so here's a read more
-goes w/out saying but spending 5 months travelling and cycling around europe was so cool. my fav bit was a month in italy -- particularly a workaway involving staying in a beautiful umbrian farmstead with a gaggle of gay men, so much cooking and cocktails and basking beneath the wisteria, walks thru medieval hilltop villages surrounded by golden meadows.. travelling solo is nice but i'm very much an extrovert and i felt so touched by the love and friendship i experienced here. i still talk to my boys most days. -i visited one of my best mates in cyprus and it was so fun i accidentally stayed for a whole month. loads of nature hikes, festivals, gigs, exploring abandoned cities, snorkelling in oceans so deep and blue and ancient. -later we flew to england to do brighton pride (hooked up with a lovely irish lass 😳) & visit some more expat uni pals. we went on a road trip afterwards in devon/cornwall and it was so beautiful but again the company was the main thing; i spend the whole time laughing til it hurt
-actually that reminds me of a random cute "small world" moment. on the bus from venice to rome, i saw a girl next to me reading the same book. we got chatting and it turned out she was going to brighton pride as well. we decided to meet up there, but everyone's phone service was jammed and we couldn't find each other!! so i gave up. a couple days later, i was boarding the train to london when i heard... "ASIA!!???" and it was her!!!!!!
-i cut my intercontinental cycle trip short cos i got into the final selection for an antarctica job and needed to be in the uk for the interview. as such i explored the scottish isles. my fav part was staying at a victorian manor in inverness owned by a witch who looked like stevie nicks and was hosting the scottish opera for the week. they invited me for wine and ghost stories by the fireplace and ending up giving me a ticket to the opera which was sooo silly but sweet!! so i saw carmen for free and gifted them some nice tesco roses and wine in return -i lost my phone in corfu but i couldnt be mad cos it was so fun. i went to a BEAUTIFUL grotto to snorkel which ended up being like a mamma mia beach bar. i was drinking a pina colada the size of my head when two aussie girls came over and said "do you mind if we smoke here" and i said "no go ahead" envisioning a cigarette but it ended up being an ENORMOUS doobie. they shared it with me and all the other girlies, we got crossfaded and went swimming, and i dropped my phone when trying to sensibly cross a road (it got handed into the consulate but shipping is so expensive so i'm working on that!)
-as such i've spent most of this year without a functioning phone & it's been grand. just so much more present and alive, got really into foraging, birdwatching, beachcombing, swimming in the ocean every day in the summer..
-coming back home was actually more tender than anything though. everyone goes on about post-travel blues but i've so enjoyed slipping back into mundanity; floor time with my best friend (you), parties, concerts, weekly life drawing and art club, finally feeling at home in this city. i got to illustrate a novel, animate a tv show opening, get my first poem published in a journal, work on a video game, and also win an nz game award for mine! i'm so grateful for my girlfriend and family and friends and lovely flat on the seaside. also i quit my shitty job for reals and am studying animal management next year so YAY

listen to me nothing will ever be better. then the crew all half moving to some small time city somewhere. and running a paranormal club out of the local college steve and robin attend as a way to spend time together and get extra credit and also soothe their day to day monsterhunting instinct and heal old traumas through the familiarity by getting into LOW stakes supernatural hijinks and scooby dooing it around town. but mostly just hanging out in a club room talking about movies and hosting the kids and REFUSING to admit they're kind of nerds now. girls will go Oh yeah that's robin buckley she's so hot in a neurotic way but she also hunts ghosts on the weekend or something if you're into that and i think she's always carrying a spectrometer around. that's her parasite his name is steve. jeremy from womens studies thinks he's a werewolf or something..? they hang out with a haunted victorian doll turned into a real boy (jonathan) and a vampire mannequin from spirit halloween (eddie) and this hot guy from california. oh that's wheeler she does NOT have a license to carry but i saw her shoot some sort of fucked up racoon last semester with a 9 millimeter and she really nicely climbed a tree to get my cat after. they're all a bunch of weirdos really but they helped my roommate when she got possessed by a ghost during halloween of '87 it was super gross there was like this goop everywhere and my tape deck got ruined. and they only had like 3 hysterical public arguments slash lovers quarrels during so they're alright i guess. we don't know who's dating who DO NOT ask because they WILL lie depending on who's around harrington once told us he was only dating buckley out of obligation because she got HIM pregnant. they do technically have to let other members join but no one else has ever signed up what a bunch of freaks but if you ever have any kind of issue they'll probably drop everything and like help even if it's not supernatural. they once took the entire cheerleading team to dairy queen because they felt bad they crashed their practise and brittany said they paid with a stolen platinum credit card. jacobson said he saw harrington and that goth kid totally macking in the cemetery.

@gottaread2 thank you for the tag! This is going to be fun because I write long ass sentences 😬
Rules: share the first line of your most recent fanfics and then tag ten people. If you have written fewer than ten, don't be shy and share anyway!
1. Gotham Blues (Nygmobblepot) - To say that Edward didn't remember the last time he had left Gotham would have been a lie; he didn't think there was anything in the whole universe that could make him forget watching the city disappear from sight, further and further away, swallowed by thick clouds as his plane climbed up in the sky, taking him all the way across the Atlantic where he alone would be privy to his ghosts and memories.
2. Cannibalized Hearts (Justice Lords Superbat) - In hindsight, Bruce should have known that the game he had been playing was one that he couldn't win; no matter how smart, how stealthy, how organized he was, in no universe he could have managed to aide the resistance when he was surrounded by super-powered beings that already kept him under tight surveillance, suspicious of his every move, well-aware that his heart just wasn't in the new Regime.
3. Valentine's Date Night (Superbat) - Bruce never had anything against Valentine's Day.
4. Curiosity (00Silva) - “So, who’s the new kid?”
5. Sweeter (Q&Silva) - “I’m telling you only one more time-”
6. Affinity (00Silva) - "Bond"
7. Dancing in Circles (00q) - Q didn't even raise his eyes from the monitor he was looking at when he heard the heavy noise of a package landing on his desk "Good morning to you too"
8. Of Scales and Feathers (Nygmobblepot) - Edward blinked slowly at the tank in front of him, one hand firmly wrapped around the handle of his gun and the other deliberately moving in front of the glass, trying to track its inhabitant's movements: it seemed lethargic enough - or maybe just disinterested in Edward, as long as he didn't reach inside of its enclosure.
9. Karaoke Nights (Nygmobblepot) - When Oswald had opened the Lounge, he had never imagined he would have to suffer through karaoke nights; they were the kind of tacky and cheap entertainment that didn't belong in a place as exclusive as his club, when rich Gothamites eagerly paid for watered-down and overpriced drinks just for the pleasure of rubbing shoulders with Gotham's Rogues.
10. Deluge (Nygmobblepot) - The rain wasn't exactly a stranger to Gotham but Oswald could barely remember the last time it had poured for so long - or better, he did remember but he had no desire to reminisce so, he just closed down the Iceberg Lounge when it became evident that not even Gothamites were willing to go out in such bad weather just for a drink, sent his employees home and went back to the manor, offering his driver a room for the night when the crack of thunder welcomed them to the Palisades: finding good and discrete drivers who could also handle themselves decently in a gun fight was a hassle and Oswald had no intentions of losing his when he had more than enough space to host him.

Big Interview with Martin Persner from nordic music magazine GAFFA
by Andreas Trella, 2022 June 9
(machine translation from swedish)
From the Magna Carta Cartel, further into the Ghost circus and back again. Martin Persner can tell you about a dizzying rock carousel that has now resulted in the old music project having a new album - 13 years later.
Somewhere in the middle of a hopeful 2000s, a bunch of good friends sat with their guitars in their arms on a sofa in the airport city of Linköping. The notes they lazed together and recorded as demos were soon given the collective name Magna Carta Cartel. These demos were then recorded in the studio and first became an EP, and in 2009 the full-length album Goodmorning Restrained.
So had the Magna Carta Cartel - or MCC - gone from sofa hanging to a promising band that with its unique atmospheric music seemed to have endless future possibilities. But in the same sofa, it was one of the friends who had managed to stumble across completely different tones.
Just under a year after Goodmorning Restrained, the Magna Carta Cartel suddenly becomes completely silent. This at the same time as a very mysterious band that was said to originate from the same city is starting to spread through Myspace. A band with completely masked members, except for the band's singer who seemed to be a very old gentleman wearing a satanic papal costume and with a corpse-painted face. The group went by the name Ghost.
The time in Ghost lives on in me very much. Whether I like it or not, my time as Omega is probably the most remarkable thing on my resume. And whether I like it or not, it's still how people refer to me.
The rumor about the exciting new rock band Ghost spread like wildfire all over the world. With their bubbly swinging pop rock songs, mixed with extremely dark and satanic lyrics, the band quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Maybe mainly because of the mystique surrounding the band. Since Ghost did not seem to provide any information about himself, speculation began to spread wildly about which old rock foxes were actually hiding behind the demonic masks. And who the older frontman could be.
WILLY WONKAS GOLD TICKET
Ghost would soon go from playing in cramped hometown clubs to filling arenas, hosting Grammys and being hailed by several legends in the industry such as Metallica's James Hetfield and Foo Fighters Dave Grohl. Linköping's scary little Ghost had suddenly started to become one of the world's biggest rock bands. And behind one of the increasingly coveted masks stood Martin Persner.
It may not have been a direct policy, but we never celebrated anything with Ghost. Whatever we had achieved, we never stopped feeling "now we have succeeded" or "now we have reached our goal". Instead, it was always an analysis of how we could do things even better based on what we had achieved.
Because we were actually not old rock foxes at all. Of course we had struggled with the music and were in our 30s when Ghost became a band. But this was the first time we got to taste the fruit of what we always dreamed of. So when things started to happen, we took it as seriously as possible. We had received Willy Wonka's gold ticket, and it was to be used in full.
Persner and his friends had received the key to the fine salons and personally felt that the most important thing was not to take anything for granted. It was a matter of managing the chance he and his comrades had been given in the best possible way.
That Ghost happened at all was a pure stroke of luck. But the work after that is an enormous job with so many endless thoughts behind it that it is hardly possible to describe.
Ghost, which was initially completely silent in terms of press, soon began to do more and more interviews. However, it was never the frontman Papa Emeritus who answered any questions. Instead, it was usually the lead guitarist "Alpha".
However, fans soon gave this member the nickname "Special Ghoul" instead. For people had managed to figure out that it was actually not the band's lead guitarist behind this mask during interviews. In fact, it was Papa in his own high person. Ghost's founder Tobias Forge, who was the friend who sat on the same couch as Persner and during an MCC meeting, had stumbled upon what would be the first Ghost song.
But in addition to Forge - or "Special Ghoul" - the band's other guitarist "Omega" also started to sue. Which was Martin Persner's alter ego.
There is something absolutely fantastic about being masked in a group. I do not want to say that I stepped into any role with the mask on. But they definitely stepped into a "fashion". And then watching and playing music with their friends in the same equipment gives an indescribable feeling of cohesion. It was absolutely wonderful.
THE BEAUTIFUL HANDS OF THE VAMPIRE
In several statements from Omega in these interviews, the masked Persner mentions that part of the masking is for Ghost's music and the concept itself to take precedence over who the people behind the masks actually are. But despite this, it was precisely Omega that was chosen as a clear favorite among the seemingly identical nameless guests. Fans literally fell completely in love with Omega and on forums and in the comments section, declarations of love for the masked musician were poured out.
I quickly began to understand that people were not really smart in their heads, haha. It was really not that hard to tell the difference between what people thought or wanted me to be, against who I was actually under the mask. It was absolutely super fun when people came forward and were happy and wanted to be kind, hugged and in some cases even kissed and all that. But you should not take that too personally. Especially not when these admirers literally do not have a fucking idea of who you really are.
Did it become difficult for people to paint you up to something other than what you felt you actually were?
No not directly maybe. But it was interesting to hear who you were for different people. People could come up and tell me how specifically good I was at playing guitar, while I just thought: "Damn how embarrassing, my neighbor who barely plays in any band is 100 times better than me on guitar".
Because Omega was disguised from head to toe, these fans in love had to zoom in on the only thing that was exposed. In addition to the penetrating charm that people saw in interviews and Persner's expressive stage language, you could actually see his eyes and hands through the disguise. Which then led to an infinite number of statements about Omega's magically deep eyes and fantastically beautiful and lust-filled hands.
It was absurd, haha. Because no I do not have the most beautiful hands in the world. But it was exciting that these people managed to paint the romanticized picture of my nervousness-bitten nails and my dirty fucking garden hands. And I'm not the smartest or most charming in the world either. Many times people laughed at how big-eyed people could be. Sometimes people also wondered if people only did one thing. Or if it was this madness idolism was about.
But it must still have given you proper self-confidence?
Yeah absolutely. But my self-esteem I have always had the same worries with. No matter what scene you have been allowed to stand on, or how your hands, eyes or personality have been seduced. But self-confidence naturally increases when you get to see what you are worth in the room you are then in, so to speak. And it is almost impossible not to stand on the pedestals that people build under one's feet. It's probably inevitable. But I always had the attitude to take all this with a pinch of salt. To never ever let this praise rise to my head. Because it's not healthy to get drunk on that.
Doesn't that kind of get an extremely high level of attention for your art, and does it not become extremely addictive and difficult to control?
Yes. You get hooked on that. And that feeling never disappears after you have experienced it. That thirst always remains. You eventually become a vampire. And right now I have not "eaten" for a very long time, if you understand what I mean. But at the same time, you do not listen to too much praise either. Because you never get to feel that you are in the goal as well.
FROM GHOST TO CARTEL
During a Ghost tour in 2016, fans noticed that Omega suddenly started playing on a Gibson SG without the Omega logo, instead of the characteristic Gibson RD that has become a hallmark of the band. It was also soon noticed that the only thing left of the original Omega on stage was his mask and costume. Martin Persner had been asked by Forge to leave Ghost after about two years of unrest and an unstable mood that had slowly eroded their previously strong friendship.
Did it feel weird to see Ghost from the outside?
Initially yes. But not nowadays. Or maybe a little sometimes. It's more that you observe and think: “Well, did he do this now then? It was nice, but he should not have done this instead, maybe? ”. Sometimes you feel that you might want to poke your touch a little like before. But sometimes you think: "Damn how nice he did this". Tobias has fantastic songwriters with him nowadays. Which, of course, makes me a little surprised, as I know he can write at least as good songs on his own. I think and know that he does such immensely good stuff all by himself. Although it never hurts to have experts who can come up with good advice per se.
Could you imagine being masked on stage with a Papa Emeritus by your side again at some point in the future?
Yes, I probably would. Or hmm… yes. I choose not to think about it so much. But yes it … I do not know. Maybe. Playing music disguised is fun, and playing Ghost songs is great fun. So yes, but at the same time I do not know.
Ghost continues to roll with Forge alone as the original member and manages to take the band to larger arenas and more sold and streamed Ghost albums. This while Persner finally gets the chance to revive his Magna Carta Cartel which has been cryogenically asleep on the Linköping sofa since 2009.
What was it like to revive MCC again after the whole Ghost carousel?
It was a challenge. Above all, to define and concretize something that has previously been quite indefinable. MCC was once something completely unpretentious that is now something completely different. And we are very ambitious. And also pretentious. To say otherwise would be a hoax. We like what we do, but of course we want others to do the same. We definitely do not make music solely for our own sake, but definitely have an ambition to reach out to people other than ourselves. But yes it has been difficult to jump into the Magna Carta Cartel again after the Ghost turn. But behind my mask, I have learned an enormous amount that has been invaluable in being able to go in and revive MCC again.
So Ghost felt more concrete from the start than MCC did?
Absolutely. Both the current work plan and to build up a perhaps more concrete framework for what this MCC entity actually is. I still find it quite difficult to identify exactly what the Magna Carta Cartel really is. But it is something you have to work on. Because there is considerably much more going on behind the scenes for MCC than you might think from the outside.
HAVING TO BEAR YOUR OWN FACE AGAIN
In March 2017, Persner takes off his mask and announces publicly on Youtube for the whole world that he is no longer part of Ghost and that Magna Carta Cartel is back with Persner on vocals and guitar, Pär Glendor on bass, brother Arvid Persner on drums and Niels Nielsen as a live member on guitar. A little later that year, MCC finally releases new music again in the form of the EP The Demon King which is followed by a shorter European tour.
What was it like to wear your own face on stage again?
I did not like that. I would really like to continue playing masquerade, but it does not feel really relevant right now. For example, I personally have never liked to be photographed and tense in front of cameras. But when you were masked, it was not a big problem. So now all of a sudden having to see pictures and movies when I myself am on stage in my own body actually feels a bit perverse.
You have no plans to redirect MCC to a masked band then?
Haha, no damn how sad it would feel. MCC is maskless, and it is the music that is in absolute focus. Who we are in the band should play a much smaller role. But I'm just a little above to perform without a mask so far. But it will probably be resolved soon.
Since 2017, Persner has more or less spent all his waking time on the Magna Carta Cartel. And for tactical reasons, the album The Dying Option has both been fermented and then baked in the oven for an extra long time in order to be as worthy a fresh start to a bygone era as possible.
I'm very happy with the record. However, there has been some anxiety that those who already know who we are with Goodmorning Restrained as a reference template will probably wonder what the hell we did at The Dying Option. But that is what we also find interesting. We want to do something that people to some extent may not fully anticipate.
When does MCC go on a The Dying Option tour then?
I can not answer that right now. But we will definitely go out and play, that much I can say. MCC is not a studio project. So we both want and will go out and play. But I'm not yet going to say when, where or how.
The Dying Option - Magna Carta Cartel's first album in 13 years - will be released on Spotify, CD, cassette and digital download on June 10th. The vinyl version of the album is scheduled for release in November.

Hi! I just saw ur year-end reading post and congrats on completing so many this year! I read some books that you recommended in a post a while ago and I loved them so I was wondering if you had any favorites from this year? Happy new year🎉
waaa thank you!!!
I would say these were my top 10, just in terms of my own personal enjoyment!! this time with elevator pitch descriptions...
Oh William! by Elizabeth Strout
A story told by Lucy Barton, a retirement -age writer, and her first husband, William. It is about them as much as it is everyone they know…. I think it is about important people in our lives and what it means to know anyone at any given moment.
She has a very distinct voice. Very readable and lived in.. she has written as this character many times, this one was on the Booker shortlist.
Notes of a Crocodile by Qiu Miaojin
A coming of age of sorts, set in late 80’s Taipei and told by an unnamed lesbian narrator. It covers her years at university - she makes new friends, cuts off and reconnects with her first love, gets mixed in with the drama of those around her, and figures herself out a little more along the way.
written in vignettes, diary entries, exegesis, and scene descriptions - JUMP CUT TO - particularly enjoyed the last move and haven’
Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori (all the way through, but particularly the volumes 9-18!)
I could go on... but if you've already seen the show I still really really really really worth reading all the way to the end!! It's a love story that sneaks up on the reader along with our protagonist, but above all it's about friendship... trying new things, putting yourself out there, and taking the time to get to know people... even annoying rich boys!
Lie to Me by Philippe Besson
A chance encounter with a man who looks just like his first love sends a successful writer back twenty some years as he recalls falling in love with another boy in his last year of high school.
This books plays with memoir and fiction, how much of this is a writer’s fancy? How much is nostalgia? How much of it is a lie?
Uncomfortably Happily by Yeon-sik Hong
An autobiographical comic about a young couple that moves to the countryside to get away from life in the city. It's a struggle, but they have each other to keep from going stir crazy and to stay warm for the winter. Really funny creative cartooning, I also love his Umma's Table (about moving away from his aging parents and the place his mother's cooking holds in his life, made me cry)
Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer
Non-fiction - a mix of ecology and personal experience, talking about indigenous people and nature, working together rather than against it, and using our resources in healthier, better-rounded ways
The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice
The sequel to Interview with the Vampire - this time Lestat steals the mic and tells the story of his life. It’s as indulgent and dramatic and beautiful as he is... and oddly charming? Rice has a way of painting a picture so detailed that it comes alive!
M Train by Patti Smith
An ambling sort of book, writing about not knowing what to write, sitting in coffee shops, traveling around the world... a thoughtful little book, not quite a memoir, not quite a journal... I don't know what to call it! But it made me sit and think...
Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner
A memoir about Zauner's relationship with her mother and grieving her after she dies from cancer in her daughter's 25th year.
No Home by Wanan (ongoing)
please read this webtoon!!!! Haejoon Goh has been misunderstood his whole life, known as the son of the lady who sees ghosts, when his mother passes away, he moves into the school's worn down dormitory - the only other inhabitant, the kid that stole his money and wound up putting him in the hospital... it's about misunderstandings and incomplete impressions, loneliness and companionship... made me laugh, made me weep, maybe one of the best comic reading experiences I've had ever?

Talk to My Back by Yamada Murasaki, translated by Ryan Holmberg
