When I was a teenager, I was extremely self-conscious about my scars. If someone would have told me that someday I’d be confidently wearing a bikini; I wouldn’t have believed them. For those who don’t know, I was born with an ear condition called bilateral microtia and atresia that affected my outer & middle ears. I’ve had 9 reconstructive surgeries that required two rib grafts and several skin grafts. As I’ve grown up, I have learned to accept myself and love my scars. They tell a story that I share if people ask about them. My scars gave me the ears that I have today. It’s amazing how growing up and maturing can change your perspective on the things that you wished you could change about yourself when you were younger. 👂🏼♥️
