Hello! This is my first time doing something like this! May I please request Cactus Gunman comforting a reader who has nightmares often? I need some sweet fluff in my life.
I hope this is alright, this is my first time writing for him! Also I hope you don’t mind I made it more platonic than romantic.
You suffer from nightmares quite often, which would sometimes keep you up for half of the night before you’re actually able to go back to sleep. However, since you’ve arrived at Gregory House, you swore they only got worse and occurred more often.
You sat up quickly in your bed, eyes wide with fear as you looked around the room, a bit of sweat rolling down your face. You had just woken up from the second nightmare of the night. You got out of bed, slipped on a pair of slippers/sandals, as you’re not walking around barefoot in this damn hotel. You sighed softly and walked out of your room, walking towards one specific room. There was one resident, aside from Gregory, who knew about your constant nightmares, and you sure as hell weren’t going to tell Gregory about them.
You walked up to a dark green colored door with CG carved beautifully on the door. You knew exactly who this room belonged to, and that’s exactly who you’re here to see. You knocked on the door and called out, “it’s alright, G, it’s just me!” It was silent for a few moments before you heard a faint ‘come in’ from the other side of the door. You opened the door and walked into the room, closing the door behind you.
“Hey, G.” You rubbed the back of your head, as if nervous about something. Cactus Gunman had noticed your nervousness, and he immediately picked up on what could be the problem, especially since he was the only one aside from Gregory who knew about your nightmares.
“Did you have another nightmare, Y/n?” He asked you, sounding a bit worried
“Yeah, I did… and I couldn’t go back to sleep.”
“Did you want to talk about it?”
“Well, I would, if I remembered what it was…”
“Hey, that’s alright, it’s not a bad thing to not remember the nightmares. At least you don’t have to think about it, it wasn’t scary enough to be remembered, or at least that’s how I see it.”
“Huh.. I suppose you’re not completely wrong.” You sat down beside him on his bed.
“Of course not! I’m not stupid, Y/n.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know.” You laughed a bit, shaking your head.
“If you want, you could stay here for the night..?” It sounded more like a question than a suggestion, but seeing as you weren’t going back to sleep anytime soon, you figured you may as well stay here.
“Alright, if you’re so sure.”
“Of course I’m sure.” You shook your head once more and lie down, looking around at some of the things in his room, which you hadn’t really noticed before. Well, you have, but you haven’t really thought much about it.
“Hey, G?”
“Yeah?”
“…what is with half of these things in your room?”
“Oh, uh, I suppose it reminds me of home in a sense.”
“Huh.. I suppose that would make sense for you.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Well, you’re constantly on the run, yeah? Or at least, were?”
“…just go back to sleep, Y/n.” You laughed a bit in response. Gosh you would hug him if you could, but you knew if you did, you’d be picking out prickles from your pjs, and you were not in the mood to be doing that at this moment. You really appreciate what he does for you, letting you talk and ramble about not only your nightmares, but other things such as what you could remember from before you ended up here at Gregory House.
“Hey, G..”
“What is it?”
“…thanks for being here to talk to me about the nightmares, and just in general. You could literally be spending your time talking and paying attention to anyone else, yet you like being around me.”
“Why wouldn’t I want to be around you, Y/n? I should be the one thanking you, putting up with my shenanigans.”
“Yeah, you don’t say.” You said in a bit of a playful tone, making him roll his eyes in response.
“Oh hush you.” You chuckled a bit and closed your eyes.
“Oh..? Are you going to try going back to sleep?”
“Yeah, I think I will.”
“Alright, sleep well, Y/n.” You heard him shift a bit, most likely turning over onto his side or something. You shrugged it off and after lying there for a bit, you both soon fell asleep, and for once, you weren’t bothered by nightmares for the rest of the night.
