The thing thats consistently bothered me the most in the fallout show is the racism. I would hesitate to recommend it because of that alone. And there was obvious love that the set and prop designers, actors, costume department, and even maybe the writers put into the show! There are themes and characters in fallout that i'm certain would resonate with fans of color!

It KILLS me that so many of the fallout entries are damn well unplayable/watchable in this regard because the writers simply Don't Care how the people in their work are presented. That this like hugely popular world with a lot of worldbuilding and thought behind it does such wrong to so many people, fans and otherwise, that you cannot find any game in the series that does it right or well. It alienates a lot of people who might've been fans just because the majority white creators and fanbase don't give a shit, and I'm sick of it.

it's not enough to say "in the fallout in my head that racism doesn't happen," you actually have to put some things into PRACTICE. Allow space in your head, your games/show, your fan spaces for people of color! notice and say something when you see racism coming from media, yourself, and others!

The door to Valerie's office clicks closed, then Avery is alone. Exhaustion weighs on her shoulders and mind, and static sparkles throughout her thoughts. Why am I so restless? She's just another person like me, why did I fall all over myself like that?

Her thoughts seem to reverberate around the empty hallway.

Only ten seconds since and already her heart twists, her body cringes, and her face flushes red. Acted just like a little kid meeting a hero for the first time. Embarrassing.

She forces herself to start walking.

Past the breakroom, past a maintenance hallway, until only a set of double doors stand between her and the rest of the aquarium. She leans in, ready to push through, but the door swings inwards. Her head plonks off the steel and swarming fireflies explode into a frenzy behind clenching eyelids. She slumps against a wall, clutching her head. "Gah! Ooh, ow, ow, ow, ow."

A voice calls out through the expanse of stars. "I'm sorry about that. Are you alright there, lass?"

Avery massages the top of her head; a raw spot, a slowly forming lump now only the size of a marble. "Fine. Fine. I'm, fine." She says.

I have some fucking thoughts about Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn Era 2 (and by extension Mistborn Era one) and the ways in which they mirror Avatar: The Legend of Korra (and by extension Avatar: The Last Airbender) but it is too late for me to type them up so I will have to do so another time

#the short version is that the sequel series takes a world in which the protagonists of the initial series fight and destroy an unjust #system and turns it into a setting in which the new protagonists must defend a clearly failing system from a variety of threats while givin #lip service to real world political realities and movements and portraying most of them with a liberal's laughably inept view of them #but still making them Integral To The Plot because the author wants to make a whole thing of it. #and in doing so the whole thing becomes a series in which characters I enjoy drove me absolutely insane by being inherently unable to choos #answers that make the most sense in regards to the questions that the series is actively raising. #which is maybe worse in Me2 because at least in legend of korra the main character doesn't go 'well I feel for these striking workers #guess I'll go actively hide the failures of their government from them' #they're both god's specialest little cop though. I'm telling you the parallels are uncanny #BS

Still thinking about Rebecca... Mr de Winter is like someone tried to recreate Rochester except he is worse

#listen... rochester might have had that woman locked fown in the atric but de winter killed his wife and ghaslighted the #second ms de winter throughout all the plot. like idk about the book but in the movie the man insists rebecca died by #accident and that poor girl is so so so desperate to believe him... jane had a clearer mind i think. #another thing: de winter literally treats his new wife like a child. just look at the first 30 minutes of the movie or so #he likes her because she is young. rochester might be a lot of things but at least treats jane like an adult #finally........ to be honest at least rochester does genuinely (after some point i guess) love jane. yeah sure still not a good man #but mr de winter??????? he married that girl on a whim and because he was so unbearably lonely and you can't convince me otherwise #jane sure was rather destitute younger of lesser social standing but she knew the world. she had a clear head. she was mature in #a lot of things. but the protagonist in rebecca is an orphan a destitute a much younger and of lesser standing than #her husband but on top of that? she doesn't know the world. she has never had to fend for herself. she is less mature in every way #laura watches stuff

kind of annoys me that they decided to name the splatoon 3 protagonist agent 3 like i guess theyre wanting to use the number 3 everywhere in the third game like they used the number 8 everywhere in octo expansion but theres ALREADY a character named agent 3 and by making another agent 3 youre just making talking about both of those characters way more confusing than it needs to be i hate it here
