ok ok so my mum n i finally finished watching ghosts and i’m completely insane so erm. rvb ghosts au
carolina is alison (funny) and wash is mike (i don’t ship carwash, in this au im imagining they’re sibs just living together bc the economy’s fucked yk how it is) they inherited the house from their estranged dad, dr leonard church and after a near death experience carolina gains the ability to see ghosts
delano house (ok . if i was going by Actual logic with the character assignments it would Technically be called gene house but i don’t think he deserves that much credit, and i’ll explain this when i get onto simmons little introductory section) is inhabited by eight main ghosts (and a plague pit of zealots in the basement but dw about those guys) from a bunch of different time periods and they all sort of hatelove each other bc none of them can leave (unless they, by some miracle, ascend) so they kind of jst endure each others’ presence
anyway, without further ado: caboose is kitty (georgian noble), simmons is thomas thorne (victorian poet), tucker is julian fawcett (modern day mp), donut is stephanie button (edwardian noble), doc is patrick butcher (1980’s scout leader), sarge as the captain (ww2 captain), grif as mary (stuart era witch trial victim), lopez as humphrey bone (tudor noble) and locus as robin (caveman)

caboose:
caboose as kitty! i jst think their characters align really nicely, they’re both loveable idiots who follow their best friends around. i def think carolina reminds him of church (who is annie in this au who basically ascends a few hundred years before carolina is even born) so he follows her around like a miserable little duckling. the ‘sister’ that bullied him is fuckign miller from rat’s nest
simmons:
this pathetic worm is thomas !! he isn’t in love with carolina the way thomas is in love with allison, instead he sees carolina kinda like a big sister figure and always asks her for dating advice. his backstory is where things r interesting tho i think. in the show, thomas is in love with a woman called isabel, however her father is against the two of them being together, so when he attends an event where isabel is also present he wants to converse with her to make sure the two of them are still secretly an item but can’t find the opportunity to do so. his cousin, francis button, offers to deliver a letter to isabel with his feelings but backstabs him by faking the letters (saying they basically don’t love each other anymore) then tricks thomas into engaging in a duel that gets him killed (he then also denies thomas’ last request to see isabel by telling her he’s already dead). yikes. anyway. in this au, gene is francis button, and instead of simmons being in love with some woman he hears some guys slandering his own dad’s name (hargrove) and engages in a duel with them over it. the reality behind the situation, however, is that gene essentially orchestrated his death. the people he ‘heard’ talking shit abt his dad weren’t actually, gene jsut told him they were. when he then begins the duel, gene tells him it’s 20 paces when in actuality it’s only 10. once simmons is shot and requests to see his father one last time gene pretends to go do that but actually tells hargrove that simmons was dead when he got to him
okay !! so i mentioned that delano house should technically be called gene house if we were to go by the show’s lore. once francis tells isabel that thomas is dead, he then essentially woos her and marries her, moving into her home and which then becomes button house. so in the au ig it would technically be called gene house however i don’t rock w that because it would then later mean donut is called franklin delano gene which is wrong on so many levels. so instead, gene just takes the existing name of the house, delano. yk i’ve just typed all this up and realised that i’m probably the sole person in the world who actually cares about it. darn
finally moving on, tucker!
self explanatory, julian dies in the middle of shagging someone and is now doomed to spend the rest of eternity wandering round with no pants on. it’s so ridiculously in character. plus ig the whole ‘being able to interact wit the real world’ thing ties into tucker’s whole main character schtick
donut:
the lady of the house ! in life his mother, chrovos, was very insistent about marrying him off to a richer family to try make up for all their debt but all he wanted to do was become a famous fashion designer. maybe if his mother had let him follow that passion he might’ve made a brand famous enough to claw them out of debt but instead he got an early death from an adulterous husband (genkins)
doc:
pat my absolute beloved. he had taken out a group of kids (the ai) to the house’s grounds for a day of archery, however while going through the safety protocols o’malley accidentally let an arrow loose that got him straight through the neck. he then managed to traumatise the entire group by dying slowly in front of them ❤️
sarge:
again another character that’s just a perfect match, sarge doesn’t have a name, the captain doesn’t have a name, they’re both obsessed with a war that’s long gone, they’re both fruity asf. not even joking, the lieutenant that the captain has a crush on is one butch flowers in this au, sarge misses him but has started to find a new object of affection in wash (despite the fact that wash cannot see, hear or interact with him at all)
grif:
burned at the stake for being a witch ! in reality he was just a man passing through the town and everyone Thought was some sort of woman who was harbouring satan in her throat or something. his long hair and curvy form Tricked them all n he paid the price. his death kinda did a number on him though, and it took a while for him to come back out of his shell (essentially after church dragged him out kicking and screaming)
lopez:
the noble that managed to survive a coup only to immediately accidentally behead himself with a pair of decorative wall swords. unlike the show, lopez is the one that doesn’t speak english while his arranged wife shiela Does and planned the murder of the monarchy under his nose. he still loved her tho.
and last but not least, locus:
i definitely hc that his name was actually locust/lotus but the first few ghosts that met him kept getting it wrong until he eventually just settled on locus (in the same way robin is actually called ‘rogh’). he’s been there the longest, definitely took a Long time to warm up to other humans after being betrayed before his death (felix and sharkface, or lick and face, pushed him into what they Thought was a bear den so that they could escape but ultimately it lead to their deaths while locus managed to get away, only to be struck by lightning immediately afterwards)
i think that covers everyone who has a canon death thus far ! sorry for going a little insane over simmons

Uhhh fuck. shit. suddenly ive forgotten everything. uhh umm. you didnt pick a fandom so I can do whatever I want rapid fire: Sojiro Sakura p5. his arc regarding the protag and being a guardian is very good. Makoto Niijima and Sophia p5 are also great arcs in the main story. im not looking at makoto's confidant. nope. no. Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu from SDR2 also has one of the best arcs in the entire series i think? very good. OH FUCK. AND WOLFWOOD D. NICHOLAS FROM TRIGUN. Honourable mentions goes to: edgeworth.

Claude Von Riegan (Fire Emblem Three Houses) - oh you KNOW i love the mischief makers. on my first go of fe3h i was so sure i'd pick dimitri and fall in love with him, but all it took claude was a single piece of dialogue from byleth ("He's smiling, but it doesn't reach his eyes.") and i swapped sides and im SO glad for it. he's a funny character. he's a serious character. he's a schemer and actually really fucking intelligent and just. so so so cool. I love archers. i love guys obsessed with sniffing out secrets. i love guys who know they can't save everyone, but know they have to try. (at least for his own men) the worst part about him is his fire emblem warriors version. jesus fuck thats a mimic who stole his skin and is walking upright.
Miles Edgeworth (Ace Attorney) - pretentious fucker. he's so uptight in a comical way that you can't help but find him amusing, even when he's being REALLY REALLY ANNOYING as a game antagonist. he's funny... he's charming.... AND HE HAS A TRAGIC BACKSTORY ?! its a W for me.
Vash the Stampede (Trigun, but not Trigun Stampede fuck that vash.) - ogh. where do i begin. literally the worlds soggiest meow meow but such a good sport about it. he loves humanity. hes the sharpest shooter this side of the south. he just wants a pizza. he refuses to kill any humans. he misses his mom. he's funny. he has like. fucked up clothing that goes hard. he could be your devil or yuor angle but leaning hard into one of those (not saying which). i love him and i really cant express why without saying GO READ THE TRIGUN MANGA OR WATCH THE 1998 ANIME. you could. also watch the newer one ig but ughhhhhhhhhhhh. its really not the same. Stampede (the anime) capitalizes on his Muh Sadboy Anime Twink aspects and like. fuckign nothing else. it just doesnt feel right SORRY ANYWAY. WOLFWOOD IS ALSO A HONOURABLE MENTION HERE BCOS.??? so hey guys, this is miles from 15 minutes after they started this draft bc I was copying and pasting a lot. uhm. THIS ONE IS A LOT SO BE PREPARED
funnily enough this isn't even all of what I wrote there's still stuff im leaving out-
so ye uh LORE DUMP UNDER THE FUCKIGN CUT IM SO SORRY-
yes, Gabriel was the first and most powerful Alternate, but he always viewed Six as more of an equal than the other Alternates. Six has the right-hand-man privilege, which is great for him for eons.
they work well together, their moves against humanity work, they think similarly, and they share a common goal of just eradicating humanity to spite God.
Six, however, was always more...what's the word...forward-thinking...
Six wanted things to evolve as humans evolved. he believed that while, yes, Alternates were definitely stronger than all humans, they still needed to keep up with the way humanity was developing. He gained a particular interest in human technology around the 1950s when household televisions became quite common
he saw this new human technology as potential for spreading M.A.D, where previously it was mostly done through religious practices. he thought this would make things much easier and would eliminate the need to sneak around and have Alternates break into homes. there was a gateway right here, why not use it.
Gabriel, however, is a traditionalist. Alternates are and will always be the superior beings. The Holy beings. They have no need to develop for the sake of humanity. Humanity isn't worth evolving for. They don't have to evolve. They are perfect. Gabriel was against this "use technology for our purposes" view from Six because how could a feeble human invention provide them with any benefit. humans are nothing, their creations and inventions are nothing.
Six, due to being devoted to Gabriel and not wanting to lose his status, decides to quit with the propelling of the idea. At least out loud. In secret, he began studying how the technology worked and figured out how to use it for his power. His silent experimentation continued into the 80s, which is when the children started to go missing. Gabriel was under the assumption that this was just a mass-attack on Six's part, which he was initially proud of. Initially.
Gabriel now knows that Six has been using human technology behind his back, but he doesn't quite know what that mass-attack with the missing children was. (In this au, the sleeper experiment was just fucked from the beginning. Six had never created Alternates before and didn't quite know what he was doing. The only reason he has that ability is his proximity to Gabriel, and even then it's limited. all of the other sleepers had just failed, died because whatever process he was using to create them just didn't take and wouldn't work.)
Things came to a head in the mid-80s.
see, for some time now, Six had been working on luring in what he believed would be the perfect sleeper candidate, a boy by the name of Mark Heathcliff
he had been appearing in the boy's television since he was 4 and had continued to have an influence over him into his tween years
the thing is, Gabriel had *also* had his eyes on the boy, given his strong attachment to religion.
unbeknownst to each other, both Alternates were pulling the boy in opposite directions, until Gabriel had finally realized Six's influence
Six had slowly begun to realize his influence was fading but he couldn't figure out why. Of course, it was Gabriel's doing, as his callings to Mark worked much more in their religious nature.
Gabriel eventually confronts Six. "confronts" is an interesting word for it, Gabriel decimates Six for daring to question his will.
Gabriel essentially says "you like human technology that much? now you're doomed to walk it for eternity." and well he literally does trap Six in the Static
before he does, however, he makes a promise to Six that he is going to take his prodigy and break him slowly over time. and he's going to force Six to watch him die.
He's weakened Six severely to the point where his physical form is basically unattainable rn. he can only exist within technology.
a few years pass and yes, Gabriel does have Mark killed in 1992 like normal. Six was forced to watch as Gabriel had forced it into his mind using visions. Six's connection to Gabriel has been severed in his banishment, but Gabriel is still able to reach him sometimes if he's focused on it. this was definitely a time he wanted to reach him.
Six hadn't tried to create another tech-Alternate since his banishment, but after Mark's death, he felt that he needed to. Six wasn't going to let himself wither away in the Static alone, and now he had a grudge against Gabriel so he might as well try.
he put all his energy, every last bit of strength he had, into the creation and molding of Adam Murray. and by God did it finally work.
of course, the real kid, Adam's previous life, was over, and Lynn and Jude with him. but Six now had his own heir. Something he could use against Gabriel. and he really didn't care how long it would take but he was gonna make sure Gabriel didn't take this one away
from there, canon happens as normal until we get to Catalyst. yeah Adam still had his breakdown, but Six made sure that he was able to recover quickly. Six had continued to keep contact with Adam through his computer from that point, explaining to him what he was and what his purpose was. basically, Six really didn't care about the eradication of humans anymore. That was Gabriel's spiteful want. all Six wanted was Gabriel to pay and he was gonna train Adam to help make that happen. was he sure that there was a chance for this to work? not really but i mean hey who does it hurt to try (A LOT OF FUCKING PEOPLE)
so also lemme establish some power limitation stuff
tech vs religion
if you are heavily religious and stuff like that yadda yadda, you're going to be more susceptible to Gabriel and therefore his Alternates (most of them are his).
if you use tech too much or are around it for too long dangerously, you're going to catch Six's attention (he still needs to kill humans to survive)
there are some other tech based alternates that were made so by force (Alternates that Gabriel decided needed to go and therefore banished them to the Static.) there aren't many, and they share a similar sentiment to Six but they really aren't important. he just kinda lets them do what they want. he's the main Alternate doing things within tech
so the television in the basement of the Torres house, the Alternate in the gps that killed Jonah, Stanley, the FS2 Model, that is ALL Six
Six was really close to recruiting Dave to his side, or at the very least killing him, but he was being barred from him somehow (Gabe it was Gabe)
then Dave decided to throw everything into the fire and go to the church and yeah you know what happened
Gabriel had been using Dave's sliver of faith to keep tabs on his tech stuff and therefore Six. so that was him "doing all his bidding for him" basically Gabriel had used Dave and the tapes to also keep track of Six and Thatcher. it makes sense in my head but is difficult to describe right now. but this is how he found out about Adam. using Dave to use tech allowed him to get to Six's mind and therefore his plan with Adam.
this caused Gabriel to become obsessed with Adam basically being like "oh. oh i want this kid im gonna steal him he's one of ours. i'm not gonna kill him nah nah i want this one."
Adam was heavily safeguarded by Six so it was quite difficult to break him, but this constant pull in both directions is what caused Adam's fascination with Alternates of both varieties.
Gabriel had been plotting stuff for getting control of Adam for a bit since stalking and then killing Dave, and Evelin seemed quite unimportant. she seemed weak, actually, given that she had gotten M.A.D. from the breakup when Adam wasn't even trying. he didn't really have any point to waste energy killing her when she's just unstable enough to probably do it herself, so he focused on going after Adam specifically. Of course, that all changed when she went to the church.
BUT YEAH THATS SOME BACKSTORY STUFF
then again like i said we get to Catalyst and Six actually explains shit and is like "my sweet sweet son you were born to kill god" and Adam's like "OK!?!?!??!?!" and they get some actual bonding within those weeks between Catalyst and the beginning of the story.
the vibes of the current Gabe v Six tea is just "YOU'VE GOT ADAM? I'VE GOT EVE LETS FUCKING LIGHT THIS CANDLE-"

Change it out to the female poc lawyer leading the case, the one who you know is already having an emotional week and taking the case a little bit too hard. Sam gets treated like shit and tossed into the ditch every goddamn week of this show I s2g, she deserves better.
Still mad at Nolan but overall that ep was WAY more entertaining and interesting than any other one ive seen. Doesn’t hurt that it was a very sam focussed one…

to briefly touch on criminal minds as well because i yelled out loud and scared my roomate lololol.
last week was SO fucking good, like they fed us so well and then this week wtf was that!? the bomb going off, we knew from the promo jj would be relatively ok, but not luke. i KNOW their team is small so having one of them in the hospital would throw things off but like, at least one of them could be a little bloodied up, a little consequences once in a while would be nice and not just a jump scare (i cant think of the proper saying but you get my drift)
i never really shipped garcia & luke, so i'm not super mad about the tyler thing. do think its weird for garcia to be so hot and cold, like she refused to be in the same room as him and now she's (secretly) helping him out and giving him a place to stay and all that? i get that now he's out free cause he wasn't an unsub, and there's that sympathy over the dead sister and her being able to relate to it over her parents but it still seems super off. (and yes, i do think that it was incredibly dumb and irresponsible of the entire fbi team to be all "yeah, your sister's dead, sorry, BAI!" like, they shouldve asked if he had somewhere to go, a friend to talk to, anything...)
what I AM *very* mad about is rebecca & tara. we're introduced in the first ep to rebecca, and finally have some queer representation on the show (and played by a queer actor too!--presumably?? i dont know if its ever been legitimately confirmed?) for us to BARELY see them together, NEVER see them at home together (no matter how briefly they lived together). just to break them up?? like, don't get me wrong, i can see why what happened would cause a fight in their relationship, but even tara could go in and explain that at the time of the original case, she wouldve believed it too, that they had more evidence now and rebecca isn't at fault or some shit like that... why do we always have to kill our gays!? it's getting fucking old and im not here for it.

re: your tags, yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! YEA!! and like, punk is NOT being smooth about all this either. he had to escalate things SO far to push hangman to the point of snapping (being condescending wasn't enough, his handshake intimidation thing wasn't enough, the one handed shove wasn't enough, he had to two hand hard shove hangman before he got punched back!).
i wrote that whole thing in a vacuum just cuz i was excited about my interpretation of the situation being validated but then later saw randos online being genuinely confused at why hangman was so angry with punk right off the bat as if punk hasn't been needling him for weeks, as if last week we didnt see punk specifically pointing out to hangman that the crowd is cheering "cm punk" louder than page's name with the commentators even going so far as to say "golly is punk getting under page's skin or what", as if the week before that he didn't use hangman's finisher on silver and was literally saying "u mad?" about it like what! what the!! are these people watching the same show as i am?? can any of this even be considered subtext at this point, i feel like its so overt its pretty much just Text. sorry for ranting LOL

Granted, in the parallel, Trips is saying Punk MADE it personal, that it’s NO LONGER just “business”, but the fact remains that Hunter at first had believed it was business as well, and Punk prodding and poking and all around running his fucking mouth (for good reason at the time) made it personal because he was going after Hunter specifically. So, in my opinion, that’s a heel fuckin move. Why are you as a man using the same language as the language of the man you considered the villain in YOUR story?
Next, Punk uses Hangman’s finisher. WHY??? If this is just BUSINESS, then WHY???? Why are you pushing at another man’s buttons???? If not to FLIRT, then WHAT are you DOING? There was this ask that I got, where I rambled about how, Hangman is the only man past/present so far in the company (at least on PPV) that hasn’t kissed the ground that punk walks on. That he doesn’t care for him at all, in any way, just does not give a fuck about this dude. And that, in some way, that’s hangman getting in punk’s head because every other guy he’s fought at a ppv made the mistake of telling punk that they idolized him, at one point or another. And that became their downfall. Meanwhile, with hangman, punk doesn’t have anything on him except to push and prod at hangman’s hothead fuckin personality. But it takes more to work on him, because he doesn’t have hangman’s number. The men that have hangman’s number, hangman’s gods, are dead and buried, as I said in another post sjskfjdj.
And I just!!!!! Hangman is something else man. He catches onto snakes bc he’s lived with them so long. He knows what he’s done, he knows what his friends have done to get to the top, and he knows punk is snake in the grass brat 3000, original model. The only thing that fucks punk up is a man that doesn’t kiss his feet. Hangman IS in punk’s head, which is why punk had to shove him multiple times to get a rise out of him. That’s also why hangman didn’t do the pipebomb, why he thought better of it because he knows that plays into punk’s ego and a puffed up punk can do anything. Like you said, that’s why punk points at the crowd chanting cm punk, that’s why he throws it in hangman’s face bc punk is all about the ego.

BTW Ive already made like 5 posts like this im sure but i want to talk about how at the end of Z (where this screenshot is from like at the VERY end it is a very cool shot) Trunks is so chill and self-assured and confident and fully embodying himself and he is still very much Player 1 and Goten’s senior. Even tho it’s only by a year , it never felt inconsequential. Goten still called him “-kun” which of course he did he was raised by ms Chichi and uses respectful language. But i just think that he could have gotten away with no suffix at all if he wanted to. But it was the polite and affectionate thing to do. Plus i’ve no clue the nuance of that shit anyway Listen

OK So ive made posts like this before but i want to say that I am sooooooooooo sorry for portraying Trunks as being soooooo comically BOTHERED by Goten’s antics. OK ive already said all this before but Im thinking about this again. Ok well basically TRUNKS IS PLAYER 1. Always has been and always will be. Goten is Player 2 and he has to use the player 2 controller hooked into the player 2 slot and he cant use the default colors bc he’s player 2 so he has to be Blue or Red or something thats Not the default and it’s not his game and it’s not his Gamecube and it’s not his house and it’s not his room and it’s not his TV. And it’s that fucking simple
THEY ARE A DUO..!!!!! BUT Trunks is player 1 and Goten is player 2. Theyre not so much equal as much as there is a yin-yang to it.
OK. So Im sorry for portraying Trunks as even having a reaction to Goten’s antics bc the truth is that he really would not let anything that Goten does get to him at all whatsoever bc 1.) He’s seen it all before 2.) He’s unbothered by it 3.) He’s better than that. And he is not going to be one-upped by Son Goten.
HE IS THE CHILD OF BULMA AND VEGETA ....!! HE IS NOT GOING TO BE ONE-UPPED BY ANYONE FRANKLY...!
NOT TO MENTION. HIS EASY SPIRIT. Even Future Trunks who came from a hellish reality had a very distinct Easiness to his spirit. He is fully embodying himself, is comfortable in himself. He does not waste time on dreaming and is instead interested in doing. He is capable of relaxing and capable of enjoying his time alive. And in no environment will he ever feel like there’s no room for him.
Ok... We see that so clearly in our Present Trunks at the end of Z somehow. Hes so chill and cool and comfortable. And we see it again in GT in how he didnt want to do all that paperwork so he just flew out the fuckign window.
HE;’S JUST LOOKING FOR A GOOD TIME. THAT’S IT. It’s that simple.
OK Well I do remmebr how when i very first started talking about Goten & Trunks it was definitely before I even saw the end of Z . I didnt honestly know what to make of them yet but what I did know was that it was feasible that Trunks could grow into a bossy kind of guy. And the natural next step, obviously, was to have his counterpart be someone who could get under his skin. Because if Goten couldn’t bite back then why would they hang out .. they have to be equally matched in SOME capacity . And i figured that if I kept watching and kept thinking about it and then rewatched some then I would understand their characters better.
Well I did keep watching it and I did keep thinking about it but my first impressions became Classic to me rather than a First Draft That Should Be Ditched. Partly becasue there was some FUNNY SHIT in my head at the beginning and i didnt want that to become obsolete lol. A lot of it did age past relevancy but a lot of it didnt and i ended up using it later (like that comic where Trunks was wearing Goten’s entire outfit and was like “well one of us is going to have to change.”) Anyway
So anyway I dont know where Im going with this necessarily. Just that I really liked the idea that Trunks would grow into a bitchy teenager and have some difficult times and his player 1 complex would become exemplified as he became more self-aware and insecure about his power and place, and so he would boss Goten around like always, albeit more ardently because it’s a bit more needed now, and Goten would either tolerate it or tip his hand and say/do something that completely strikes the perfect nerve. Sometimes it was an accident but Goten himself would grow into somebody who is very emotionally intelligent and mature so he doesnt accidentally piss him off for forever. Sometimes he’d do it in self-defense and other times he would do it because it was funny. And then i guess Trunks grows out of it and into his Easy Spirit that we see at the end of Z. And i rememebr arriving at the End of Z and being like OMG OMG OMG OMG SO COOL but also being like “ummm this is a little different from what i was saying lol ...” and idk i never did anythign abt that .. Im a creature of habit i guess . Anyway
Anyway if you want my professional opinion I’d say that Trunks never has to get pissed off at Goten becasue he can hold his own. It is funny to think that at some age Goten becomes less childish and naive and more quick-witted, and Trunks, WHO HAD ALWAYS BEEN THE PRECOCIOUS ONE, who has enjoyed a life of being comfortably many levels of awareness above Goten, now has to reconcile with Goten catching up to him, and he does not handle it well. That is an interesting story but IT’S NOT EVERYTHING ...!! AND IF THAT DID HAPPEN it likely died down pretty soon becasue AGAIN. END OF Z. TRUNKS WAS SO CHILL AND HE AND PAN STILL KICKED GOTEN’S ASS IN THE TOURNEMENT. WHICH WAS SO FUNNY BTW.
Becasue he’s STILL..! PLAYER..! ONE..!!!!!
It makes perfect sense tbh. Of course. Of course Trunks is still stronger than Goten. Goten is Goten after all. He comes from a loving rural home and even tho his mother is a hardass and his father only cares about fighting, he’s still a very chill dude. And Trunks is also chill but he does take life a bit more seriosuly. But not to the point of frequent stress. It’s just that his father is Vegeta and his mother is Bulma and he’s being fast-tracked to being the President of Capsule Corp and like ... He knows how to relax but he also experiences very high prestige. And here’s the important bit: HE CAN HANDLE IT. HE’S NOT STRESSED OUT ABOUT IT. HE’S BUILT FOR IT. HE’S BEEN TRAINING FOR THIS. HE CAN HANDLE IT.
Anyway I dont want to say that it’s less funny and that there are less things to say if Trunks is chill and theyre actually on the same wavelength usually becasue that’s quitter talk. Thats quitter talk. Of course there’s still a lot to say .. of course there are stories to tell there .. It’s less emotionally piquant but that is in fact the point, what emotions are left between them? Theres no expressions of anger but thats fine. It’s whatever. Like i’ll be fine... .........
Anyway. Here is a list of the only ways that I can imagine where Goten one-ups Trunks:
1. I guess expressing unwarranted and unabated genuine affection. But only in really specific contexts becasue that usually works at bugging someone IF there’s space left between you that has yet to be revealed/explored. And i don’t think that there’s much space left between those two. Theyve known each other since they were babies but they lack the obligation and boundaries that family would share. So I really dont know what Goten could do in that field to bug him. He does live life with a much more prominent and open heart than Trunks does so he’s capable of expressing an amount of love that is sickening but I dont think that, if he afforded Trunks that, that Trunks would be bothered by it. First of all he’s probably heard it before. Second of all, if Goten really tried to push it, it would become clear that he’s doing a bit, and Trunks isn’t gonna let that go anywhere. Third of all there is a very simple way to diffuse an attempted one-up which is to take it one step further. “i love you man” “cool i love you too” (kisses him on the lips) . And that really does mean nothing to them. Well actually in a strictly canon interpretation they would absolutely NOT do that but I already said that I dont think that theres much space left between them. They could do anything and it would not change anything. And that’s all there is to it
2. Honestly if Goten did something that was a little improper but hard to argue against. Like named his first child after Trunks’s family’s nomenclature. Like “hey Trunks guess what .. my ex just showed up with a baby and told me that it’s mine .. crazy right? .. I wanted to be a dad eventually but this is sort of shocking haha ... BUT I LOVE MY NEW BABY ... I named them Thong” and at which point Trunks would be like “Um. What”
That might cause a bit of an argument .. like ummmmm..... Maybe you should name it something in line for YOUR family .... and stay out of mine............
But we all know that Goten would name his first child “Gohan The Third” anyway so that would never happen lol.
3. If Goten really truly surpassed Trunks’s player 1 status somehow. If he became stronger than him and consistently so. If he became president of the World while Trunks is only president of Capsule Corp. It wouldnt break Trunks and it certainly woudlnt break what they have but it would cause Trunks to sit down for a bit and really think about that. Goten wouldnt let the power get to his head so they’d still be good. But that would still strike some mounting fear in Trunks’s heart I think. Especially becasue I dont think that he thinks his relative level of power plays into his self-image at all. But it does. It’s just never been questioned.

OH BOY TYSM glad i could help you get like 50¢ from a survey with my insanity . i’m sorry for all the information you’re about to lesrn he sucks so fuckign bad but i love him so much
so basically lion was a super rebellious teenager in a very well-off conservative catholic and he ruined his life when he was 18 by fucking up and getting his at the time girlfriend pregnant. he begged her to get an abortion because his family is so religious they’d absolutely kill him if they found out, she said no, he tried to pressure her into it and she left, it was a whole thing. they did find out and disowned his ass and he, now faced with being kicked out of the house with absolutely nothing at 18, went on a depression and fear fueled bender and landed in the hospital . absolutely sucked 0/10 bad time
so when he got outta this hospital he decided he ws gonna clean up his life by joining the military and try to be a good person. wild choice but yk its a military fps game what do you expect . he also became catholic again which i mean yeah sure fine i guess thats his choice. after a while (like a Long while) his unit’s chaplain arranged a meeting with the ex girlfriend and the child, and he was like “oh SHIT my actions have consequences this child almost didn’t exist” and now makes an effort to be in his son’s life even though the kid grew up calling someone else dad bc the gf got married at some point i think? idk regardless lion tries to be a good parent despite his past fuckups and i like that about him
but anyway so lion joins the gign, then gets recruited for cbrn which is like . anti-bioterrorism basically, where he meets doc and twitch (two other gign operators that r in the game) during an ebola outbreak. lion, being a quarantine specialist, decides to quarantine a bunch of infected people to prevent the spread of the virus. doc is NOT happy about this because hes hardcore humanitarian and wants to try to help them. because of lion’s shitty quarantine practices they wind up dying, and doc has blamed him ever since which is totally fuckin fair . they both had a lot of mean things to say to each other, namely that lion lacks empathy and that doc’s belief that People Should Not Die If It’s Preventable is a liability. the two have been actively hostile towards each other for a long time, but have reached a stable point in the past couple seasons. theyre both beginning to move on and work together to lead wolfguard, which is rainbow’s rescue unit essentially
so now with all the backstory shit out of the way, what i like about this wretched beast; he sucks, he fucked up a whole lot, but he’s trying so very hard to do better for the people he cares about and for himself. he’s confident and even cocky when it comes to his combat skills but he absolutely does not trust his civilian instincts because of the things he’s done in the past so he’s really, really bad at interacting with people . he tends to come off as an arrogant asshole (which is kind of true honestly) and has gotten into fights with so so many other members of rainbow because he’s just so full of fuckin attitude. he also canonically likes heavy metal and cats and is fascinated by virology and vector control :] and when he’s not doing stuff for team rainbow he tries to help his community by volunteering for various stuff
in conclusion; i love this wretched beast. he’s the reason i got into r6 and i rotate him in my brain every day because he is just Inch Resting to me. i could talk about my nighthaven lion thoughts BUT tahts not even canon adjacent that’s just me being insane so i will save that for another day . sorry for the 800 page essay i just fjskgkakkgks lion my beloved . i will leave you with this picture of him bc i like it :]

27. How did the events of Shadowbringers impact them?
this one is kind of a doozy... for the main version of caranar I run with it's the first time he's recognized as a hero front-and-center since he gets labeled as the warrior of darkness rather than eryna. it's simultaneously something that really touches him and also really upsets him because he feels like he can't do enough to justify the praise he's given. by the end though, he can come to accept that anyone can be a hero... shadowbringers was a like intense character development arc for him but it's hard to describe succinctly... but he definitely wouldn't have been able to survive endwalker without it, I can see him otherwise becoming a blasphemy for sure. him and thancred in the early thavnair quests like "wait you guys haven't thought about killing yourselves? that's crazy"
more under cut AAGAGH
for kozu shadowbringers was like the emotional equivalent of throwing a brick into an empty running dryer I really put him through the ringer. him having a year or so in the first before shadowbringers msq proper starts gives him a lot of forced time to slow down and reflect, since most of his personal issues aren't really resolved in arr-sb. he got called to the first during the CS that the exarch first gets to properly talk to the wol during the zenos-elidibus instance. he bums around the crystarium for a while with like extreme numbness. separated from everything he built, everything that mattered to him, and placed in a world where his at-the-time main job (whm) is something I'd imagine people are genuinely kind of scared of if not unsettled or disgusted by. he helps out at the medical section for a while, and tries to get into the facets but bounces off due to his state. exarch is like "get help!!" and calls urianger in. and then kozu decides to fully switch over to red mage while heading out to il mheg to help out urianger's tasks/goals there. I could write about that for WAY too long but basically SHB is when kozu starts being truly emotionally open with the people around him, airs out his past with the scions, etc. and he was so glad to have been able to help save a world that wasn't his own. he still misses the first, especially the crystarium and the fae, a lot (moogle and sylph experience paid off with handling the fae also LOL) when kozu gets back to the source he's like way more chilled out and just wants to embrace his wanderlust while also helping people instead of getting himself stuck. does this make any fuckign sense good lord.
28. Were they suspicious or open to Emet-Selch's presence when he first appeared?
kozu just fucking ignored him as best as they could I'll be real. didn't feel the need to give him the time of day, felt as if even his half-hearted words didn't match up with his actions most of the time.
caranar though butted heads with him ineffectively and would have tried to chase him off or at least annoy him any time he showed up.
my guys are haters not only for the ascian thing but like bro the imperialist father of the empire trying to be buddy buddy? FOH
29. Did your WoL suspect anything was amiss with Urianger or the Crystal Exarch? Did they feel betrayed? Upset? When the truth finally emerged?
caranar was extremely suspicious of crystal exarch but not in a "I think he's evil" way just in a "he is NOT telling us the whole truth" way. in the SB patch content and VERYY beginning of shb he'd be a little more dismissive and angry at him but as soon as he understood the state of the first and the work the exarch put into saving it he'd pull back a little but something would be nagging at him the whole time. especially since the exarch claims g'raha wasn't in the tower just SOMETHING AINT RIGHT. and by the time we get to the pre-gulg leadup he knows that's g'raha but isn't sure what he could do or say about it. and regrets he didn't say more before he got FUCKING SHOT but he never felt betrayed or upset with him about it. a self-targeted upset maybe
also caranar never interacted directly much with urianger before SHB so both in HW patches and SHB he had no idea. in HW he was legit mad for a bit but in SHB he gets why he did what he did, doesn't hold it against him but does feel stupid and guilty for not putting stuff together faster to help g'raha earlier
for kozu.... I'm still of two minds.... I need to like replay because kozu as he is and the exarch have some parallels that I still need to consider more. duty bound by both hope and guilt... a 100 year vigil where they hold others away from them... their sense of identity slowly wearing away... disregarding the value of their own life in service of others... BASICALLY he wouldn't feel betrayed or angry he would just feel very conflicted. and sad.
urianger, kozu was very suspicious of him in the HW patches even though he didn't have free movement for most of hw to like potentially keep an eye on him he knew something was off but wasn't sure how. until he saw him in his disguise he was like COME ON MAN. and was mad but in a "I'm gonna set his ass straight" way not "we've been betrayed" way. in SHB he could tell there was something he was hiding but he didn't want to pull at it recklessly, he just wanted urianger to share his burden with him; didn't want him to suffer alone as he clearly was. and the fact he didn't confide really really ate at him and nagged him... when the truth came out he was angry but like. sad-angry. thinking he was unworthy still of full trust. he still forgave him but he made him swear not to hide things anymore. (AND I KNOWWWW HE TECHNICALLY DOES IN EDEN AND ATTEMPTS TO IN ENDWALKER ON THE MOON but this is relationship drama fodder to me. also the eden one he would've keyed kozu in)
30. What was their highest point in Shadowbringers? Their lowest? What caused it?
highest point... hmm I think for caranar it'd be the end of the base expac, graha saved and his wife's soul not about the explode into a million pieces the relief and the WE FUCKING DID IT!!! WE LIVED!!! of it all would've given him a huge boost ever since that point like. DAMN we can do ANYTHING actually. his lowest point is definitely pre-gulg whereas everyone else is feeling hyped up, it's when eryna takes any of the light he insisted on carrying himself from him and he just feels like he can't help anyone, that his efforts are always in vain (the ardbert parallel hah). he feels he's not worthy of even being a figurehead. the g'raha emo peptalk was so needed
for kozu, I think his highest point would be the end of 5.3, the past laid to rest, everyone made it, life is returning to the empty, and they can go home... he'd cry when he woke up in his body on the source I think, joyfully but also mixed with a little sadness that they can't watch over the first ever again. his lowest point was right when he arrived LOL as ascribed above

i get that i'm probably in the minority at this point, but as someone who grew up with pokemon i have Negative Opinions of the later generations, in terms of pokemon design that is. i do think that after a while, they simplified their art style a lot in order to make more easily marketable guys, easier to make plushies and toys of i guess. but i also think that a lot of their designs are just getting Stupid, and they're (understandably) running out of ideas when they're expected to make 50+ guys every generation every few years for 20+ years straight. i genuinely feel like early on, it started off as "woah... what if we made THIS THING that i GENUINELY THINK IS COOL....", and it just happened to get absurdly popular because hey, it was genuinely cool in a lot of cases. meanwhile i think that when pokemon stopped being the passion project of a few goons doing what they loved and became A Massive Multimedia Franchise that has to Appeal To Everyone, i feel like a lot of it lost its charm, y'know? for me, i think designs and the style were really solid up until gen 4, and even with gen 4 i feel like most of the guys were pretty alright, though there's definitely a lot more misses in gen 4 than there were in 3 (which, to be fair, i consider gens 2-3 to have the most insane batting ratio throughout the series, even gen 1 has more stinkers than most dorks like me would generally admit).
i do think that things got Actually Bad in terms of design with gen 5, though. though with that being said, i also feel like gen 5 gets a lot more hate than it deserves, and it's frankly probably the least shit in terms of design of what i'd consider to be Late Gen. i do like emolga, a whole lot. but, i'd say that virtually all of gen 5's guys, with very few exceptions, Fuckign Sucked. same with gen 6, i will say that i like sylveon, but frankly i feel like it'd be harder to fuck up an eveelution than it would to make a good one. i do, however, kinda think that fairy type is lame, at least insofar as how i loved my gardevoir being a pure psychic. but alas, it's not like i'm gonna play a mainline game past gen 4 at this point anyways. again, in gen 6, we see like, one good guy, and a whole bunch of shit. though i will say that the worst of gen 5 is like, Offensively Bad, while the worst of gen 6 is just kinda fucking bland. from then on, though? i genuinely can't think of a single guy from gens 7-9 that actually fucking appeal to me. i did this little thing where you pick your favorite guys from each gen from each type, and it was like... wow, all of these past a certain point Fuckign Suck.
now, i don't think that this is the end of the world, frankly, i feel like it's only natural for a grown ass man to not find kid shit appealing. but, that being said, even when i was An Actual Kid who was growing up on the tail end of gen 4 and the beginning of gen 5, even back then i had negative opinions of whatever the fuck was going on with gen 5, though i didn't really have the language to express it in a meaningful way. and i mean like An Actual kid to say like, i was literally 9. but i also grew up on the older gens before that, though i will admit that gens 1-3 tend to run pretty indistinctly for me in some ways, since i was very young and also the first pokemon game i could call my own was mystery dungeon: red rescue team, which more or less presented the first 3 gens of guys as One Whole Group, which was pretty easy back then and would be significantly harder to pull off with the sheer Dissonance between early gen and late gen shit
now, i'm gonna do some pre-emptive defense of myself to Late Gen Bootlickers and say which early gen guys i genuinely dislike, and say which late gen guys i genuinely like, as a little bit to balance out the bashing that i've done:
i think tangela's a bit shit. same with muk/grimer. i think voltorb only really works as a surprise encounter the first time and as a pokemon it's kinda meh. drowzee and hypno are Gross & Grody and should be cut, frankly, though this may just be me as someone whose spent too much damn time on the internet. same with lickitung and mr mime, frankly. unown is stupid. bullshit alphabet ass waste of a dex space. volbeat and illumise are just kinda eh. i don't think if they were never designed, the world would be an appreciably different place.
i like the purrloin line. pidove is cute. scolipede is genuinely kinda cool. i love sandile. minncino is cute. emolga is probably my favorite guy from gen 5 onwards, and frankly is one of my favorite guys out of the whole series. dedenne is kinda cute. i like tepig and litten (but not what they evolve into). the rockruff line is good. mimikyu is genuinely kinda clever and also pretty cute. yamper and boltund (especially boltund) are pretty cute. uhhh, that's all i can really think of
(gen 4 was left out of this entirely because i consider it to be a very transitory kinda deal, if i said every guy i liked and didn't like from gen 4 both of these lists would be at least twice as long as they are, since i think in terms of design, it's probably the most mixed in terms of both good and bad designs, albeit with a decent lean towards good)
now, do i hate pokemon? can't say i do, hate is a strong word, and while strong is the best thing a thing can be, i can't bring myself to feel that strongly about pokemon as it exists. pokemon as it was, though? i genuinely love, even today. i still semi regularly replay the first PMD game, sometimes i choose one of the gens from 1-4 to play through (though i've never gotten that far into gen 4 while i've beaten the first 3, some multiple times). i think what i'm trying to get at here, is that pokemon can be great, but i genuinely feel as though it's gotten appreciably worse in recent years, and i feel as though a pretty significant part of that for me is the character design. i think this might matter a bit more to me than the average person? and i almost certainly have different sensibilities than a fair amount of people. but i genuinely find it hard to enjoy a piece of media if i don't like the character designs, especially if i find the designs stupid. part of why i hate a lot of post warhammer40k fantasy and scifi so unappealing is that i think the character designs are Genuinely Dogshit. pauldrons big enough to work double duty as horse blinders, dipshit thick swords that probably couldn't cut a stick of butter, much less be used in actual combat, that sorta shit. the same goes for me and pokemon, i think. like, wow, that's just a fucking pair of keys. it's a fucking apple. that is literally just a fucking tumbleweed. terrible, though the ones i'm thinking of are just the Particularly Egregious ones, i will say that on a very fundamental level, i find a lot of the "normal" designs deeply unappealing. a lot of them illicit the same response to my brain as looking at an unethically bred animal, like a pug. like damn dude, you should NOT exist, you're a testament to the technological and ecological hubris of mankind.
which isn't to say that if i were Actually There In Real, i wouldn't feel a little different about it. like a pug in real life, i still go to pet it because it's a living being with love in its heart, even if it was bred into a little freak of nature, that's not their fault, y'know? poor little guy, have a treat. i feel like if i met the little bread dog creature i'd be a bit disconcerted, but i'd still be nice to it, y'know? some of them would absolutely be out of fear, though. personally, i'd rather not be chokeslammed by whatever furrybait dude that i'm around, y'know?

my turn to cry - thoughts on 3-1b
ok this has actually gotta be my favorite chapter cause holy shit so much stuff happened.
I played the Alice/kanna route and afterwards I watched a vod with the reko/shin route in which ranmaru and naomichi died before the banquet, so BIG SPOILER WARNING FOR BOTH ROUTES
Mafia Princess Sara??: Ok so first off, back in the beginning of 2020, I had a theory that Sara was a mafia heiress and that the death game was supposed to be something to “prepare” her. And that her memories were wiped or she was initially supposed to be kept blind to this whole thing (In 3-1a when everybody saw the consent form for the very first time everybody felt a sense of deja vu, except for Sara. Because why would they need her consent when she is the sole focus of the game and it’s all for her) This theory was mainly supplied by my confusion surrounding the hiring of Kai, cause why would mr Chidouin hire a former assassin to protect her?? How did he even know Kai??? But yeah, the whole thing with Shinobu Gokujo and deciding a new don through a death game just adds a lil more validity to this theory.
Sara’s real father: I also had a mini theory that Gashu Satou was her real father, but that was mostly cause of their hair color and how it would def make Sara’s hair color make more sense genetics-wise (but kai has black hair, so its most likely that his mother had black hair, which would also disprove this mini-theory but yk im not here to prove it just talk about it). And that Gashu knew of Mr. Chidouin and gave Sara to him, and it would also explain why mr Chidouin chose Kai of all people to look after her and why Kai could only watch her from a distance, in case she realized the truth that he was her brother/half-brother or something.
GREENBLINGS CANON AAAAAAAA: I love this, I love this so much oh my god. Now I can replay and cry after 2-2 cause nankidai hates us :’). I dont have an issue with this specifically, I’m just a bit bothered by how the whole thing went. There was some buildup yea, and the cg with kanna, kugie, and shin was amazing. And that lil bit about nice hallucinations made me tear up a bit. But, then everybody kinda just moved on? and idk this whole chapter was a fuckign roller coaster I could barely keep up.
Autistic Gin <3: I’m autistic myself and I have seen many characters who are autistic-coded or exhibit many signs of autism but have never been straight up confirmed (Ex: Vera Misham from Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney). And even then, these characters usually share similar personality traits like being aloof and reserved. So it’s nice to see that Gin is representing autism in a relatively realistic manner with his hyperfixations, vocal tics, and issues with socializing. Even after nearly dying like 17 times he’s still doing well and I genuinely wish for his survival and happiness.
Ranmaru’s death: Both of Ranmaru’s deaths, (if you or if you don’t fail the electricity absorption minigame) the death feels so... off? I was really attached to him as a character, yet his death didn’t impact as much as Joe’s or Nao’s did. During his Banquet death, one second he had his really cute smiling sprite but then whoops oh no guys weird drill screw thing kills him (again). I still can barely comprehend it because it all just happened so fast. Like no cg or anything. I was honestly kinda disappointed. The “delayed” one does a better job at his death scene, but again, it was wayyy too quick and completely dismissed as everybody just moves on to defeat Maple 2.0. I at least would’ve appreciated a better transition than Midori just saying “well anyways–”
Ranmaru’s extremely quick descent into madness in the shin route: I actually liked this idea of Ranmaru willing to go to such extremes for Sara. However, theres barely time for any of this to develop? Like again, everything just happens so fast??? I would've definitely liked if there were little hints around before the body discovery that ranmaru was gonna do something like this, just a little time for development would really be cool.
Mr. Policeman/Mr. Tazuna???: After I finished, I actually looked on the wiki to see if it said anything about his son that he mentioned and I found this:

The thing about Q-taro: I’m gonna say it now, I’ve liked Q-taro ever since the aftermath of 1-2, and Q-taro haters have added absolutely nothing to this fandom. Everybody saw him as a child-hater, I see him as a guy who’ll do anything to survive and succeed. I mean that wish is kinda what got him into the death game. And yeah he did try to leave that one time, but that’s what getting thrown into traumatic killing games does for you, most people don’t want to die, they want to live, no matter what it takes. We can’t all be the main character and choose to cooperate with everybody and be the “good” person in that situation. Even Sara has those extremely selfish moments and those intrusive thoughts of winning and leaving.
This whole thing should also be applied to Ranmaru. Ranmaru has gone through so much shit in such a brief amount of time, to the point where he was considering to/actually kill people to escape with the one person he trusted in this hellhole. In that situation, Sara’s kinda at fault here, cause without Joe she’s lost her sense of morality which resulted in her becoming selfish and well... honestly kinda toxic. This emotional manipulation is really what set Ranmaru off, however it was 100% his decision to fucking kill somebody and murder’s bad. Still love him though.
But back to Qtaro, I really enjoyed the extra substance given to him in this chapter, it’s nice to see the development from being selfish to feeling deep remorse to protecting the dolls of the first trial victims, most notably Mai. As he completely forgives her for stabbing him. The chapter did a great job at fueling my already intense love for Q-taro (and it actually convinced my best friend who claims to hate Q-taro with every bone of her body to like him too!) I also love the father-son dynamic between him and Gin. I find this relationship to be really important cause Gin’s father is an abusive alcoholic and Q-taro’s an orphan who’s never had a proper role-model in his life. So it’s beautiful that despite not having anybody there for him when he was younger he can still be a good figure for another child.
Predictions/hopes for the next part:
I just want to see whether Shin already knew about Kanna being his sister, and if he doesn’t I want a reveal. Right. Now.

though he goes on to say here that he resorted to violence because he realized that the system that was in place could withstand everything else he would have tried to use to change it, which is super interesting

honestly I feel like, while megatron renouncing the decepticons and becoming an autobot is certainly interesting, it would be equally interesting for him to remain a decepticon but try to change the philosophy of the movement
like, I get why op had him give that speech - to prevent the cons from trying to free megs again/thinking that he was being coerced into things (ironic considered he WAS coerced into giving that speech) - but it’s kinda the easy way our for megatron - being able to completely abandon the decepticon cause and not deal with it at all, and start over anew as an autobot
it would've been a lot harder to remain a con and try to reform what he has broken in the decepticon movement - but I think that would've been really interesting
though from a writing logistics standpoint, I get why jro didn't go for that bc we don't get a lot of other decepticons in the cast for that to work, and also megatron still definitely DOES have to face down all his mistakes w/the decepticons w/the djd and overlord and whatnot
anyways. I cant believe that all megatron had to do to join the lost light was make ONE speech denouncing the decepticons. like, they should've at least had him do a tiktok dance too or something, just to make it a really tough deal
