this has nothing to do with my selfship but i want it on my blog so im posting it anyways... a situation where pat and achilles are forced to interact with theseus 🙏🏽 from a scrapped fic where he would've shown them around elysium's library.
Being that his contract previously kept him bound to the dank House of Hades, Achilles never saw much of King Theseus. Despite this, he was aware of a great many rumors surrounding the man. Some say to ensure Asterius' safe passage into Elysium, Theseus spent several days or nights at the lord's desk, ranting and raving, telling irrelevant stories, until an irritated Hades caved in and gave him all he demanded.
Other rumors stated that the King was a son of Poseidon (or something close to that), and he acquired the Minotaur through that godly connection, though this action supposedly caused him to fall out of the Earthshaker’ favour. “There’s another rumor being spread. Claiming that the Lord Hades lost a bet to King Theseus, and won the Minotaur as a prize.” Achilles had his head rested on his beloved’s lap, while Patroclus wove slender fingers through his blonde hair. “That’s a new one,” replied Patroclus, “I’ve heard something similar. But it claimed that it was the Minotaur who bested Hades, and he asked to be placed within Elysium to humiliate his rival for all eternity.” Achilles snorted at that. The King was… well. He was rather odd. He was not like most heroes, who would gladly slay a beast then never speak of it again (unless, of course, it was to brag of their greatest achievements). It was obvious from what few interactions Achilles had with Theseus how deeply he cared for the bull. He bought his rival passage into the blessed realms, crafted an arena in both of their honours, and now fights by his side for all eternity.
All this would imply that there is something deeper to King Theseus- something hidden beneath his golden bluster. Most of the time, however, it seemed as if the man really laid it all out on the surface. Either way, no one really understood why the Minotaur stayed with the king. Zagreus himself even concluded that Asterius did not owe anything to Theseus at this point. Achilles had his own  suspicions about the true source of that dedication, but no real leads on the matter just yet… “You’re curious about them, aren’t you, Achilles?” Pat gave Achilles a small smile. While he held  no love for the king, he did enjoy indulging Achilles’ interest to an extent.  “Why don’t you ask King Theseus himself, then…?” “Ahaha, yes! You’re welcome to ask me anything, Great Achilles!”
Achilles startled off of Patroclus' lap, and Pat, in turn, fell over onto his side. Before them stood King Theseus, his stance wide in the same way he presented himself within the arena. Despite his larger than life personality, Theseus seemed quite small away from the splendor of the arena. He truly was no taller than Prince Zagreus- a fact Achilles always seemed to forget.
As usual, he'd barged into Pat's glade unannounced. Most of the time when he did this he was quick to run off towards wherever he needed to be, but the perfectly timed mention of his name captured his attention. (Patroclus scowled: it was one thing to be interrupted by Zagreus, who was only ever polite and had even helped to reunite him with his Achilles… but Theseus was nothing but a nuisance.) “King Theseus,” Achilles hummed while readjusting himself, “To what do we owe the pleasure of this visit?” “Aha, well!” Theseus cleared his throat, “I am on my way to visit Asterius! He is currently at the library, no doubt reading up on the great works of writers and scholars from across the land! …Or he is reading a fantasy novel. Regardless, the bull's taste in literature is always impeccable!!"
"If that's the case, King Theseus, I kindly ask that you be on your way,"sighed Patroclus, "My Achilles and I still have much catching up to do, and I'm certain any questions he has can wait. Can't they, Achilles?"
"Ah, yes. I agree that another time would be preferable. Would you mind dismissing yourself, King?"
King Theseus appeared thoughtful for a moment, taking their place request into deep consideration. Then, he spoke: "Yes, actually, I would mind!!"
Theseus sat on his knees before the two Myrmidons, his blue eyes glittering. "Achilles! I, Theseus, Greatest King of Athens, humbly request a sparring match against Asterius and myself!"
“Well, erm…”, Achilles smiled his usual tense smile at Theseus; he didn’t have any real dislike for the champion (unlike his beloved), but that didn’t change the fact that he was truly too much for one person to deal with (unless that one person was the Bull of Minos, who dealt with the king “loudly and often,” according to Pat), “I’m not sure if I have much interest in sparring with you, King Theseus.”
At that, the king’s eyes widened, quickly becoming tear-filled and cloudy.  “Why?! Do you think I’m too weak to be of any use to you? I am undefeated in the arena! That daemon and his foul, cheating ways don’t-”
“Peace, King Theseus. It is no comment on your martial skills. I simply do not have the interest in battle I once did." while Achilles tried his best to sound comforting, his voice teetered right on the edge of sounding baffled instead.  Patroclus had mentioned that Theseus cried easily, but Achilles had unestimated the king’s crying skills all the same.
“Ah, well…” the king wiped away his tears, “Yes, that is… hmph!  I won’t say I understand, but I do respect such a thing! Somewhat.”
He beamed a bright smile at Achilles, already recovered from the sobbing he was surely about to do. “I propose unto you a new offer; a tour of Elysium’s premises!  You should know, Great Achilles, that one of my many duties as champion is to act as a guide for shades who have only recently entered the blessed fields! I doubt you’ve seen much of the realm just yet, especially as you spend most of your time with your brother-in-arms, who seems to prefer wallowing within this glade!"
“I do not wallow.” Pat rolled his eyes. “I merely have little interest in this land of empty-headed fools.”
“Hmph. Well then! Achilles!!” Theseus reached forward to grab the warrior’s hand within his own . “Shall we leave now? Other than the library, there’s a lovely little garden area that I think you will find enchanting! And many other lovely little shops and eateries and the likes! It could be just us two and Asterius, yes? I must say, I am afraid your companion here will turn our journey sour.”
Patroclus grabbed Achilles’ other hand, holding it firmly as he glared at the much shorter man. “My Achilles would not agree to such a thing. You’re being presumptuous, as always.”
"You are the one who's being presumptuous, Patchouli!!"
"Patchouli?"
"Patroclus," Achilles firmly corrected, "I wouldn't be opposed to your suggestion, King Theseus. But-" Achilles gave Theseus a stern look before he could gloat, "You have to be polite towards my beloved. And… " Achilles gently held Pat's hand, rubbing it with his thumb, "that also means you can't purposely provoke him, love.”
"My one source of entertainment in this cold, hard world, and you're taking it away from me. Fine."
"Ahaha, splendid! I must go to Asterius, but I shall return momentarily for our tour! I shan’t keep you waiting long- this, I promise!!" Theseus gave a half-crazed laugh before bouncing back up and onto his feet, then running out the opposite door of the glade before either Myrmidon had a chance to speak.
"Achilles… why did you say yes to him?" Patroclus pinched his temple; just the idea of spending more time with Theseus of all people was giving him a headache.
"It has a chance to be  enjoyable experience, yes?” Achilles’ clasped his hands together. “And besides, I am curious about his relationship with the bull. It will be a good learning opportunity, if nothing else.” "I suppose we'll see once he returns."
With a sigh, Patroclus laid on Elysium’s soft moss. With luck, Theseus would soon forget all about his whole tour plans… somehow, however, he had a sense that for once the king’s memory would hold firm, and in some days or nights he and Achilles would find themselves being dragged halfway across Elysium.

Midnight Ocean Chapter 89 Notes
Please note that I've tried to provide content warnings for specific mentions or discussions of myths or topics that would generally be considered upsetting. But, in case, I'm going to reiterate some warnings here, because while I didn't expand on some of the topics in the actual chapter, I do so more in these notes.
Content Warnings: Ancient Greek mythology-typical bestiality, cannibalism, incest, abduction, sexual assault
Tumblr media
“How much of eros consists only of this—this dancing around and around? How much of myth?” is a reference to Eros the Bittersweet by Anne Carson. To explain the whole thing, I would have to spend an hour, but a quote from the text is this: “For in this dance the people do not move. Desire moves. Eros is a verb.”
This is said in reference to a poem by Sappho:
He seems to me equal to gods that man who opposite you sits and listens close to your sweet speaking and lovely laughing—oh it puts the heart in my chest on wings for when I look at you, a moment, then no speaking is left in me no: tongue breaks, and thin fire is racing under skin and in eyes no sight and drumming fills ears and cold sweat holds me and shaking grips me all, greener than grass I am and dead—or almost I seem to me.
Part of Carson's examination of this poem is this:
We see clearly what shape desire has there: a three-point circuit is visible within Sappho’s mind. The man who listens closely is no sentimental cliché or rhetorical device. He is a cognitive and intentional necessity. Sappho perceives desire by identifying it as a three-part structure. We may, in the traditional terminology of erotic theorizing, refer to this structure as a love triangle and we may be tempted, with post-Romantic asperity, to dismiss it as a ruse. But the ruse of the triangle is not a trivial mental maneuver. We see in it the radical constitution of desire. For, where eros is lack, its activation calls for three structural components—lover, beloved and that which comes between them. They are three points of transformation on a circuit of possible relationship, electrified by desire so that they touch not touching. Conjoined they are held apart. The third component plays a paradoxical role for it both connects and separates, marking that two are not one, irradiating the absence whose presence is demanded by eros. When the circuit-points connect, perception leaps. And something becomes visible, on the triangular path where volts are moving, that would not be visible without the three-part structure. The difference between what is and what could be is visible. The ideal is projected on a screen of the actual, in a kind of stereoscopy. The man sits like a god, the poet almost dies: two poles of response within the same desiring mind. Triangulation makes both present at once by a shift of distance, replacing erotic action with a ruse of heart and language. For in this dance the people do not move. Desire moves. Eros is a verb.
Tumblr media
I believe Hades Game shows us that shades have some level of control over their appearance, depending on their circumstances. For example, many of the shades we see have set appearances, in a sense. The mobs have appearances defined by the state of their soul/minds. Soul Catchers are a good example. You have a bunch of souls “congealed” together, and they come to share an appearance (bright pink butterflies).
Another example would be Achilles and Patroclus. They seem to be frozen in the appearance they bore when they died. This is shown by Patroclus still wearing Achilles’ armor, which he died in. This can also be seen in how they are almost see-through until they’re reunited, and then they are given more weight.
This, however, is countered by Theseus and Asterius. Asterius absolutely couldn’t have been wearing matching outfits with Theseus when he died. This is clearly something he’s gained since death, not something he died in. I also really doubt he looked as healthy as he does in death.
I believe that this shows shades can and do have control over their appearances, at least when they’re in their right minds/the soul is in good shape (perhaps it’s also a specific right reserved for shades in Elysium). It may not be as flexible as the gods, who can appear however they like as Aphrodite and Demeter state in a conversation together (thank you @CrowLady0_0 for finding this for me), but there’s some level of influence.
I can’t find it now, but I do believe it’s also true there were ancients who had different opinions about what a shade would look like, as Zag describes.
Now, as this relates to Medea: It’s unclear how old Medea was when she married Jason. It’s a question that has and will continue to haunt me. Medea must have been reasonably old when she passed away, but how old, and how her divine heritage might influence the length of her life and/or how old she actually appeared.
Tumblr media
In the game, Achilles writes of Elysium: “Greatness is evaluated here, by several judges entrusted to consider the many cases the Master himself cannot see to personally.” I’m not sure if there’s other clarification about this, but I read it as a reference to the judges from mythology, who Medea mentions.
The judges were granted their station due to proving themselves honorable rulers in life, though like most things in Greek mythology, this can be sort of confusing and mixed up, mostly due to the question if Minos is one person or if there are multiple people named Minos lol. Minos is sometimes depicted as a really shitty dude and other times as a great king (though I’m not sure if this could just be explained by the usual extreme variations in Greek mythology).
Zag mentions Minos offending Poseidon. To properly explain this one… I will need to provide some warnings. The light version is this: Minos, King of Crete, asked Poseidon to send him a sign to help prove his right to be king or something along those lines. Poseidon sent a giant bull out of the sea. Minos first said he would sacrifice this bull to Poseidon, but then went back on his word, wanting to keep the bull for himself. This inspired Poseidon’s wrath.
(CW: ancient Greek mythology-typical bestiality) Minos was married to Pasiphaë (Medea’s aunt, sister of Aeëtes and Circe), so Poseidon cursed Pasiphaë to be… obsessed with the bull, let’s say. This led to the birth of the Minotaur, Asterius (so he’s technically Medea’s cousin, isn’t that fun?). (end of bestiality stuff)
(CW: cannibalism…) Anyway, Minos ordered Daedalus, the great inventor, to make a labyrinth to put Asterius in. Minos had this big conflict with Athens, the details of which don’t really matter at the moment, so he ordered Athens to send seven young men and seven young women to Crete to be sent into the labyrinth and, well, fed to Asterius. Thus Zagreus saying Asterius was a cannibal. Anyway, all of this ended when Theseus, Prince of Athens, offered to go into the labyrinth and succeeded in killing Asterius. (end of cannibalism stuff)
Tumblr media
When Medea says “Even the gods’ kingdoms fall—the Progenitors’ to the Titans’, the Titans’ to the Olympians’” she’s referring to the generations of deities. “The Progenitors” here refers to the primordial gods who came and ruled first (ie. Uranus, Gaia, etc.). They birthed the Titans, who then overthrew them. Specifically, Uranus was overthrown by Cronus. The Titans then gave birth to the Olympians, and the Olympians overthrew them (Zeus overthrew Cronus).
Tumblr media
Zag mentions shades drinking from the Lethe to be reincarnated, and to be clear, I think that may come from Virgil (in other words, this may be a Roman idea and not a Greek one, but I’m not sure). Medea is referencing the shades you fight in Elysium when she talks about those who drink from the Lethe and assist in defense.
From the Wiki:
The shades of the dead were required to drink the waters of the Lethe in order to forget their earthly life. In the Aeneid (VI.703-751), Virgil writes that it is only when the dead have had their memories erased by the Lethe that they may be reincarnated.
Tumblr media
Circe was known for her powers of transformation. Medea is specifically referring to her transforming Odysseus’ men into pigs when they reached Circe’s island. Zagreus mentions her turning Scylla into, well, Scylla.
From an earlier chapter: Scylla was a beautiful nymph. The god Glaucus was in love with her, and Circe was in love with Glaucus. Jealous, Circe poured a potion into Scylla’s bath and she was transformed into a monster which is probably much more familiar to most people. This monstrous form of Scylla is the most famous one.
Tumblr media
Idyia, the Seeing: Taking this straight from the wiki. “Her name means ‘the fair-faced’ or ‘the knowing one’ derived from the Greek word εἴδω (eídō) meaning ‘to see’ or ‘to know’.”
Perse, the Destroyer: Again, from the wiki. Her “name has been linked to … πέρθω (pérthō), ‘destroy’ or ‘slay’ or ‘plunder’.”
In relation to Idyia, Medea is saying, of course, that her name is directly related to this concept of “Sight.” With Perse, she’s saying that the “destruction” was wrought by her power.
Tumblr media
A part of Helios’ power/mythology is that him, being the sun, can watch what’s happening below and thus knows a bunch of shit. He has the epithet Helios Panoptes, meaning "the all-seeing Sun".
(CW: the myth of Persephone’s abduction/sexual assault) This actually means he was the only one who witnessed Persephone’s abduction by Hades, while Hecate was the only one to hear her scream. And while Hecate helped Demeter, she didn’t fully know what happened, so Helios was the one to finally tell Demeter who took Persephone and where.
Tumblr media
Flowers Medea mentions
Green-winged orchid: A flower found throughout Eurasia.
Tumblr media
Snowdrop: A flower that’s thought to possibly be “moly.” (From a past chapter: Moly is an herb of note in Greek mythos. It’s described as growing from the ground where a giant’s blood/divine blood has fallen. Hermes gives it to Odysseus to protect him from Circe’s magic when he goes to her island.)
Tumblr media
Golden pea: A pretty flower that can be a super, super mild poison.
Tumblr media
Iris (grossheimii): A particular type of iris from the Caucasus mountains. Irises can also be mildly toxic.
Tumblr media
Crocus: This flower, of course, is important in Greek mythology. Crocus was the name of a young man who was Hermes’ lover. During a game of discus, Hermes accidentally struck him in the head, mortally wounding him. Overcome with grief, he turned Crocus into a flower.
Tumblr media
Fritillaria: Strange flowers that are known for smelling weird, if not gross, and for being used in traditional medicine. A lot of them are also extremely toxic, or at least parts of them, such as their bulbs, are.
Tumblr media
Milkwort: A pretty little flower the ancient Greeks thought… increased milk production in cattle? Who knows.
Tumblr media
Poppy: A flower with all sorts of medicinal uses, as most probably know. Their seeds contain codeine and morphine. Their association with Hypnos is due to their sedative effects.
Tumblr media
Honeysuckle azalea: From wikipedia, “The nectar is toxic, containing the neurotoxin grayanotoxin; records of poisoning of people eating the honey date to the 4th century BC in Classical Greece.”
Tumblr media
Small-fruited cherry bushes: A flowering plant that can be used both as a medicine and as a poison. It can also be used to make a gray-green dye.
Tumblr media
Wayfaring tree: Not seriously toxic, but just a little.
Tumblr media
Valerian: An herb with various medicinal uses.
Tumblr media
Whortleberry: Medea is referring specifically to Caucasian whortleberry. Big berry plant.

Can I send a 💫 for.. something about Hades, please??
I'll talk about Elysium since I end up mentioning it fairly often for reasons you'll see here ^.^ I'll put my HCs under the cut!
Elysium is the last actual region of the underworld that Zagreus passes thru to get to the surface. Once he exits he enters the Styx, which is an essential bridge between the two worlds
Elysium is the realm where heroes, demigods, beloved kings etc. go after their deaths. It is an essential paradise. Never too hot, never too cold, always lush and green
However... Paradise also means it's a bit stagnant! One of the characters in Elysium, Patroclus, is able to spend all his time just sitting around waiting for his boyfriend because of how stagnant it is
Theseus is the Champion of Elysium, and Asterius is his co-champion. This means they're the final bosses of this region, attempting to prevent Zagreus from entering the Styx.
Theseus and Zagreus hate one another 💔
In canon, it seems that battling to the death (to be reborn again of course) is one of the only pastimes available for elysians 😭
Elysium is home to the Lethe, the river of forgetfulness. Drink from it and forget all the pains you once held in life.
now for the headcanons 💖
Elysium has an enemy type referred to as Exalted Warriors. These guys were heroes in life, but in Elysium they're mindless and desire nothing but battle. I like to think that these guys are heroes who drank so much from the Lethe they lost themselves completely. At times you'll see heroes in an "in between" stage, where they're halfway to becoming an exalted. If they stop drinking they'll just remain in this form.
The Lethe doesn't completely erase memories, as much as it buries them. Sometimes heroes do remember who they once were, and their appearance changes to what they looked like in life, though not perfectly. Their time as an exalted leaves permanent "scars" on their body, essentially
In canon, there's a small market center in front of the arena. I like to think that there's several larger markets, homes, theatres, etc scattered around Elysium
Though Elysium is paradise, it is not... Perfect. This is only because the idea of a perfect paradise bores me! Elysium provides much, but shades have to put in the work themselves too.
Elysium's library, where Dia works, was crafted in the style of Athenian architecture.
Theseus and Asterius have their own home together within Elysium and it's gaudy as hell. All Theseus' fault
Elysium has day/night and weather cycles despite being in the underworld. Various nymphs are the ones in charge of this

Yandere!Zagreus x Good Shade!Reader Headcanons
❤ The journey to reach the surface was a long and arduous, filled with many trials and tribulations for the godling to face. Zagreus persisted undaunted, however. Well… Perhaps, a little daunted. The fields of Elysium had proven especially difficult, the Soul Catchers and spirits of Exalted Ones often overwhelming Zagreus and sending him down a one-way trip to the House of Hades. It was rather disheartening, making Asphodel and it's Bone Hydra seeming like a walk in the (dangerous, lava-filled) park in comparison. Though, with great effort and the help of more than a few boons from his family (and the spirit of a once great warrior), Zagreus had finally found himself at the maw of the colosseum.
☠ Zagreus had faced the Minotaur, Asterius, before - an incredible fighter who had defeated the prince once in his many attempts to reach the end of Elysium. But now, Zagreus had to face of against Theseus, as well, who was… Unfortunately less polite than his bull companion. Looking around the entirety of the colosseum, Zagreus couldn't help but feel small. Everyone else was against him, cheering on the pair of heroes in their quest to defeat the godling. Just like always, most everyone was against him. Zagreus felt himself almost deflate, worn down by sudden pessimism, frustration, and exhaustion… Until a flash of red caught his eye.
❤ A sole blip of red amongst an ocean of blue. You leaned over the railing, wide smile on your face and starstruck look in your eyes as you and Zagreus locked eyes. For a moment, the godling completely froze as he took in your form. He swore the breath in his lungs escaped him for a moment. Below you hung a banner, a picture of him plastered on it, showing your support to the Prince of The Underworld. It was as though he was suddenly rejuvenated, ready to take on the two warriors, take on the world, take on anything. As the battle commenced, he dashed around the arena, dodging Theseus' spear and the swings of Asterius' are. Every moment he could, he'd stop to look back over to you, watching as you cheered him on, jumping up and down in excitement. Maybe it was just the adrenaline, but, it was exhilarating! Watching you, seeing you - his heart was beating so fast, his chest and face were so warm, so warm and light and- You. He didn't want to look away-! And in an instant, caught off guard, Zagreus felt the pain of a spear piercing him. The cheers and uproar of the colosseum went silent. Zagreus' vision went dark. He lost control of his limbs. And then, he climbed back to his feet, finding himself back in the Pool of Styx.
☠ Rather than feeling upset by his loss, Zagreus felt himself filled with renewed vigor for his quest… And to see you again, the good shade who filled him with such joy and confidence. Zagreus paid no mind to anybody else in the House of Hades, quickly racing off to begin another escape attempt. The young godling fought even faster than usual, trying to navigate the fastest route back up to Elysium - but this time, it wasn't solely for his want to reach the surface. It wasn't too long before he reached the colosseum once more, shades gathered around in excitement, waiting with baited breath for another match to begin, but Zagreus was here for you… And to reach the surface, of course!
❤ Zagreus fought hard and dodged as well as he could, trying to keep his focus on his two competitors. But, the prince couldn't help but sneak a glance back over at you when he felt himself able to rest momentarily. Your eyes were always on him, your smile so bright and radiant that he swore it would surely blind him. And he swore that, just above the uproar of the other spirits' voices, he could hear it - what must be your voice, cheering over and over, "Zag-re-us! Zag-re-us! Zag-re-us!" Oh, gods, his face went almost bright red at the thought. He hoped beyond hope that everyone assumed it was because of the strenuous battle. But, gods above, he felt… Absolutely smitten. Had anyone besides Nyx and Achilles been so unabashedly supportive of him? Oh, you were so sweet, so kind, so gorgeous, so-! Zagreus shakes himself off, standing in the Pool of Styx once more, frustrated and feeling more alone than ever.
☠ You were always on his mind, in every chamber, after every defeat, every moment he stood in his Father's House, during every fight with every enemy. You had burned yourself in his mind, branding yourself there. But, it didn't hurt. In fact, it felt so good to think of you, to indulge himself in fantasies of you, his Shade. His Shade. All his. That's why you had his banner, right? Why you supported him. He loved you for that. Because… You must love him, right? You knew he'd make it all the way to Elysium. You loved him. Supported him. Believed in him. You knew you were meant to be together. Oh, His Shade was so smart. It was you that gave him that strength to defeat Asterius, to dodge Theseus' spear and summons from the gods. It is you who gave him the strength to deal the killing blow to Theseus. Finally, a moment of rest. The colosseum boomed with noise, but Zagreus ran up to you, desperate to speak to you. He shouted up at you, hoping his expression and voice would convey his love for you, "I dedicate this victory to you, my Good Shade!" His good shade. Because that's what you are, right. His. Just as he is your champion. And when you smile so wide at him, eyes swirling with awe and what must be love, Zagreus can't help but smile back. He feels so warm and so light, like all of his problems had melted away, all thanks to you.
❤ When Zagreus is defeated within the Temple of Styx, Zagreus doesn't feel as frustrated as he imagined he'd be. Of course not. Another defeat would be another chance to see you, to see your smile, to win for you. So many attempts, so many victories dedicated all for you. But, eventually, it isn't enough. Of course, it's not. It isn't enough to see his beloved from afar and speak to you only occasionally. No. It's not fair. You must be as upset as he was. But, it's no matter. He's the prince, after all. He could pull a few strings, give the both of you your happy ending. You're so confused when you wash up into the Pool of Styx, covered in blood. The expression on your face is adorable, confused and a bit dazed - only to be replaced with shock as Zagreus quickly scooped you up into his arms, holding you flush to his chest. It's so hard to resist the urge to just nuzzle you close and smother you with kisses. He needs to hold back, to allow you time to calm down and explain what he had done - summoning you hear to the House, where you will now permanently stay. And besides, Father would probably throw a fit over such a public display of affection. So, Zagreus concedes to simply shushing you and softly explaining everything to you as you look around in confusion and squirm in his arms, him slowly carrying off to his, or rather, your shared room.

Re: Asterius and Thesus from the Hades Game
Tumblr media
People ship them, which is great, because in this dynamic Theseus is the himbo and Asterius (the Minotaur) is an absolute morosexual
and at first I was like "haha funny ship" with these two because Theseus is one full himbo that’s also way too full of himself and Asterius is like, super chill, and you have to wonder why a cool dude like Asterius the Minotaur would hang out with such a braggart
and then I found out Asterius is in Elysium because Theseus wanted him there and he dragged him out of the saddest bits of Hades so he could have a rival slash BFF and is the reason he’s so beloved as a warrior of Elysium and got him dressed in fine armour and probably even did the matching laurels in his hair and I

This is a quote about them from the codex:
[...] they say Theseus again discovered the Minotaur, whose soul had lingered restlessly at the edge of the Underworld, and Theseus took pity on him. Though, I think there is more to it than that.I think Theseus saw in the bull-man Asterius his greatest rival. Thus he offered Asterius a seat of honor in Elysium alongside him; a just result, for their fame and glory are intertwined.'

Note
I was having a dream in which I was playing Hades, and I was given the option to pet and generally TLC Asterius, so I did what any reasonable person would do and mashed that button as much as possible.
My beloved fiancé, meanwhile, woke up to me rapidly punching him in the upper arm and when he asked me what was wrong, I replied "I don't know..." and rolled over.
supergiant games PLEASE, dlc when??? you can pet the dog, but what if want to pet the bull ;_;
also lmao your poor fiancé x'P

Fuckbuddy, Husband, Nemesis: Urdnot Wrex, Iron Bull, Asterion
I have no idea who Asterion is and google is not bringing up much, did you perhaps mean Asterius from Hades? I'm gonna go with him
Urdnot Wrex
Tumblr media
so first and foremost, if we were nemesises he would kill me without hesitation. so I don't think that's a viable option here. He's...... not the best husband I think. I like him but also I think we just wouldn't have much in common to talk about. he does, however, have 4 balls and a krogan mating drive, so fuckbuddy is ideal here
Iron Bull
Tumblr media
Iron Bull my beloved. If I had not been playing a woman and dedicated to making DA:I as gay as I could, I would have romanced him in a heartbeat. canonically and explicitly cool with trans men, loves dragons to the point of eroticism, stacked as hell and into BDSM. I have got to marry him
Asterius
Tumblr media
so obviously that leaves Asterius for nemesis. don't get me wrong, he would be excellent as a husband and good as a fuckbuddy too, but Wrex would kill me dead and if I marry Asterius I'd be breaking up the boy best friend couple of him and Theseus. at minimum I would be getting hounded with threesome requests there, and also I would have Theseus as a nemesis, simultaneously. enemies and lovers speedrun. Asterius is big sexy and as long as I get to play by Hades rules of getting back up back home after he crushes me against a wall or impales me or w/e I am more than happy to engage in some homoerotic rituals

NO, WAIT, I ‘MEMBER NOW! Aside from the length of the post itself, the read-more is also dedicated to my absolutely mortifying behavior that’ll be involved in this post and regret including here later, probably.

Preferably ones that involve in-game events/character arcs and Dragalia Life comics (especially/specifically if the Euden finds my flower child cute) in their portrayals for serious, crack, fluff, angst, or anything in between (4th wall-breaking and meta/gameplay-based shenanigans and/or interactions may also likely apply). Monster lovers/[redacted] that happen to muse this (too) nice-and-friendly prince/king man, please DO apply. In spite of previous sentence, intimate platonic ship full of the aforementioned stuff is the main goal. ...For here at least. Anything beyond that is a HUMONGOUS bonus (how do I black out a portion of text on here like a spoiler mark/tag??? I feel so exposed even though I did this to myself. ohgoddon’tlookatme.  I SAID STOP IT!)!!! Anyway, time for the rest of the list: Akasha, Alberius, Albert, Aldred, Brunhilda (Pre-Euden mainly/only tbh. Shocking considering what’s been said, right?), Cat Sìth, Chelle, Chthonius, Ciella, Delphi, Epimetheus, Eugene, Grace, Ieyasu, Leif, Lowen, Mascula (I know I’m super late with this but my lack of access to [INSERT ACCOUNT/PLATFORM] on top of everything else means I can express it here now- YEEESSS!!! TAGGING :  Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......
#outofgoop; (ooc)#Like-- at least two of you are aware of and probably knew what was going to happen the moment you saw a particular fandom listed LMAO#Wait... Stardust did you know I'd list... HIM??? DID U EXPECT THIS???? DID U DO THIS????? DID OO???????#If so then................... GOOD. THANK YOU FOR ENABLING ME. AHAHAHAHAHA!!! I HAVE OUTED MYSELF AS A EUDRONE/EUDEN LOVER!#I can feel the shame and regret crawling up my spine rn for my initially unabashed display of... whatever you wanna call it.#LISTEN. I HAVE COMFORT CHARACTERS AND OUTLANDISH FANTASIES AND DESIRES TOO! I'M NOT GONNA DENY THAT.#EVEN IF A GOOD CHUNK OF SAID FANTASIES AND DESIRES CONSISTS OF MAINLY OR AT LEAST (INTIMATE) PLATONIC SHIPS!#This list's supposed to be comprised of fav charas that I'm interested in having (strictly) platonic or--in the case of others--romantic#AND/or platonic ships mixed with others I just enjoy and/or might play as but not... really do eitherof the aforementioned stuff right...?#Sorry- Meme assignment became too confusing for my brainrotting mind so you get this convoluted mess instead.#Alsotechnicallydidn'tlistthemallorsomeofthemfallmoreunder'appreciate'or'like'butIslapped'emonthereanyway-#It's easy to tell which ones belong to which category right?#Maybe even to the point where you could guess which ones are missing or other fandoms I might've included instead?#...Unless you don't know me very well or well enough maybe.#But whoa- Check out this [REAL] (NOT FAKE!!11!!) leak of some potential future muses for my multi!#Picking the final fandom to include was too hard. There were like at least 3 obvious ones but avoided doing so because of particular raisins#I like too many things and too many characters... Though brainrot makes me tend to focus on a specific few more than others these days.#Wait a second...............................................................................................................................#I'm... I'm not gonna show up in the search since I put it all under 'read-more' right? ....RIGHT?#Upon further and incredibly brief experimentation... I seem to be safe! As for someone finding this post through other means is unclear tho.

I really love your Hades au! The drawings are so well done and look lovely and the details you thought of are really interesting and well thought out and it makes me happy (except Nyx’s punishment, poor Zag)
Thank you so much!!! I’m so glad you enjoyed my art I’m glad you like the idea too! Poor Zag really does have a rough time in this au... Sorry for replying to this so late, I’ve been swamped with work recently, which is a shame because I’ve been chomping at the bit to make more stuff for this. But here, I do have a drabble for your troubles, and also the reason why I’ve been calling it the God of Ash au :D
(I also posted it to ao3 because why not, I guess. You can read it there, if you want)
“Asterius’s amiability won’t do any good, I fear; he takes his role of Champion too seriously to give any leeway. Suppose he feels he has to earn his place here, though I think he deserves it far more than Theseus- gods know he’ll never back down.”
Patroclus tsks softly. “For a certainty. See, you should have listened to me when I said that you’d make a far better champion. If you’d bested them and taken their place, you could give the stranger a free pass. When will you realize that I’m always right?”
Achilles releases a breathy laugh, gold curls flitting about him as he shakes his head. “Somehow, I don’t think that would have been quite so simple a solution. Though it’s always tempting when I imagine what Theseus’s face might look like if he was ever dethroned.”
The corners of Patroclus’s mouth twist up at the mental image. He leans further against Achilles where they sit on a low retaining wall in their familiar little glade. He idly winds and unwinds a lock of his hair around his fingers, soothed by the smooth slip of the strands over his skin.
“Perhaps it won’t be long now till he is,” Achilles posits thoughtfully. “The lad hasn’t given up yet.”
Patroclus tilts his head and meets Achilles’ eye out of the corner of his own. “You really think he can make it past the arena?”
His beloved shrugs lightly. “It seems like he can make as many attempts as he wants, can keep going unless his resolve fails him. I think it might be possible. I wouldn’t be-” The abrasive grind of the door sliding open interrupts rudely. “Well. Maybe not possible this time around.”
Patroclus turns to follow Achilles gaze across the chamber.
Zagreus stumbles over their little bridge, smiling tiredly despite his bedraggled state. Blood paints his temple from where it oozes from some wound hidden in his hair. The skin of his right shoulder is red and swollen, broken in some places, and Patroclus suppresses a wince at the thought of the bruise that would form, though he knows it will never get the chance. Cuts and scrapes mar his arms. He walks with a limp, though Pat can’t see the source.
He looks quite worse for wear. Patroclus informs him of such.
Zagreus laughs graciously, stumbling more over the last few steps towards them, seeming to go slack and relieved in their secure and sheltered glade. “I’m afraid you’re right,” he admits, the cadence of his voice sweet and earnest. “It’s not been the best of attempts.”
He glances at Achilles sheepishly. “Sorry sir, I’m not sure if I’m up for your- training pointers this time around.” He fumbles for the awkward words, apparently still unsituated and disbelieving in the face of Achilles’ advice, which he started to give a couple encounters ago.
“No worries, Zagreus,” he assures lightly. “They’re only meant to help you along, anyways, not to beat you down more.”
Pat hums gently and blinks lazily at the stranger. “Yes. Here take this,” he gestures to his usual offerings, “and take a moment, too, before going on your way.”
Zagreus’s smile reaches his eyes more at that and he takes the Kiss of Styx with a pretty dust of light pink across his cheeks. “As always, I can’t thank you enough, sir.” Patroclus rolls his eyes dramatically, but he’s not sure the stranger sees it as he dips his head politely.
He stays standing as he empties the dark, little vial and Achilles says, “Why don’t you take a seat lad? You’re welcome to rest for a moment. You look like you could use it.”
Zagreus studies him intently for a few moments, then shrugs. “If I sit down, I won’t want to get back up.”
Patroclus scoffs and quips, “I think that may be a sign that you really need to sit down.” Zagreus grins in response but remains on his feet regardless. Patroclus won’t insist where it’s not his place.
Instead he says, “At the risk of appearing rude, I must admit, I’m not very familiar with the chthonic deities. I don’t know all the gods of the Underworld. I thought you might be willing to sate some of my curiosity.”
Zagreus blinks at him, clearly surprised, but by no means offended. Patroclus is relieved to have apparently judged him correctly. “I- sure, of course! What were you curious about?”
Patroclus tilts his head. “-You. Who are you? What are you the god of?”
Zagreus blanches ever so slightly before flushing red. He laughs nervously and rubs the back of his neck as he ducks his head to avoid their gaze. “Sorry to disappoint you, sir. Some people in the house call me the God of Ash, but it’s only as a joke.” Through the ruffled, ink dark strands of his hair, Patroclus sees Zagreus set his mismatched eyes on his feet. The light of his fiery skin flickers and glows through the cracks and fissures in the build up of ash.
“I’m not really the god of anything at all,” the stranger announces.
Behind him, pressed up so that Patroclus feels it vibrate through him, Achilles hums a low, even noise, impossible to interpret, even as weighty as it feels in the air. Still, if he had to guess, he would think that his Achilles doesn’t believe that for a moment.
Patroclus isn’t so sure. He knows little about the ways of gods. Are some of them truly not gods of anything at all? And could Zagreus really be among their ranks? That, Patroclus finds less likely. He feels like the God of something. He can’t say exactly why, can’t pin it down. After all, the prince has only come through- oh, five or six times now. Just something in the air when he does, perhaps. Patroclus knows little about the ways of gods.
A little leaf falls from the crisp, autumn foliage of Zagreus’s laurels, wheeling through the motionless air of Elysium as if it has a life of its own. Patroclus watches, with an idle thought to collect it where it lands, but it flares like a minute ember and then flickers out just the same, leaving nothing behind when the stranger departs once again.
