Art request #11. Thank you for this request, anon! Post-Kaguya (or just post-war) Obito is my favorite Obito, and naturally this art has spiralled out of control 🤪 Obito: Rebuilding the World.

Building Buildings AU headcanons: * Obito lives, his chakra & Sharingan are blocked. * After some time they (somehow) unblock the Mokuton for construction purposes (the Juubi's bijuudama destroyed some towns, Mokuton users needed), and he can shape his chakra only the way it is needed for this ability. If he tries anything else, it just doesn't work. * Obito has no idea how to use Mokuton for construction & architecture, so Yamato teaches him. * Since he can't use chakra even for simple things like sticking to surfaces or climbing walls, he sometimes needs safety gear that he hates, but everybody else finds it amusing :D * The goggles are very useful -- there's a lot of dust from the debris. * Gradually Obito starts enjoying this a lot and is glad he can do something like this. Aaaand some amazing cracktastic headcanons from @cool-thymus 🧡 * Yamato is like: "I'm NOT going to fraternize with a war criminal, not even if he is your former teammate, senpai." And then in a couple of days: "Here, Obito, I made you some soup! You need your strength, you're doing great!" * Yams is a bit of a control freak, and everything should be by the book. And then there's Obito 😆 Yams is carefully showing Obito how to put together a neat building, while Obito creates something similar yet super weird/morbid/questionable. Y: Obito, what is this? O: What? I followed your instructions. You told me to follow my instinct. Y: This is not.. I meant your Mokuton abilities, chakra-wise! O: ... I did what I did. * So as a "punishment" Obito gets to live in his weird building for a few days under the leaking roof (he ignored some construction rules for the sake of the morbid beauty of said roof). * And when Yams comes back to check on him, he finds Obito sitting on the floor, totally unphased, the roof is leaking, water streaming right above Obito, BUT he had mokutoned a cute little umbrella over his head sprouting from his neck/shoulders. And again he deadpans, "I did what I did." Thanks @cool-thymus, I think I died laughing 🤣

Fragments of Fate and Fire (This one, I don’t tend to count, as it’s mostly art. It’s much easier to look at an image than devote time to reading).

5. Do you respond to comments?

Of course. 😊 (I am grateful for them).

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Magnificat of the Damned Book IV: Anvil.

And I got some incredible comments on the last chapter that I still cherish. (It was not the end, but it was the end of that series).

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I don’t believe in endings. Stories always continue and mine are mostly part of an ongoing series. But I have written a couple of one-shots and Requital did have a much more positive ending.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Never have, no. Or if I have it must have been mild and I’ve forgotten. But then I moderate my fics on AO3 and people usually can't be arsed to type a raging comment that won’t get published. Also I’m just not read that much. I write a lot of OC’s and people tend to scroll past, I’m sure. (I never had negative comments on LOTRFF.com or Faerie, either, and one couldn’t moderate, but again, I think it was because that kind of person just didn’t bother with them and the atmosphere was more polite on those archives).

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Sometimes. M/M. These days, it’s when it comes up, which is not so often. I find (after a particularly horrible fandom experience) that it’s like salt: you don’t need to pour it over everything. Anyhow, I’m interested in stories which have everything in them, not just sex.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

No.

11. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I wrote Dark Prince and Dark Lands with Annwyn (back in 06/07) who I’m still in contact with but is no longer in fandom. She was lovely to write with.

13. What’s your all time favorite ship?

Fëanor/Fingolfin.

14. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I want to finish A Far, Fierce Sky. I was writing that in tandem with one of the Magnificat stories and as A Light in the East and A Far, Fierce Sky, it’s sequel, were AU’s to my main arc, I had to drop one of them when I became self-employed.

I no longer have the time to write very much so I hope to survive long enough to retire and be able to do much more 🥺

15. What are your writing strengths?

Probably perseverance. I can hack through blocks and I completely ignore fandom fads so I can concentrate on my writing without dashing after the next hot take. If I get an idea I’ll follow it through.

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

Take your pick! 🤪

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

If used sparingly it can be effective.

Tolkien. I’m monofandom.

I think of fics in terms of how I felt when I was writing them, and if I was in the ‘zone’ so it is a tie between Dark Prince and Summerland. Actually she was blocked early early on when she first started. Then I ignored her for months. Then I started to get bombarded with anon hate out of nowhere and I wondered why because it seemed sudden and excessive. It was then I remembered there was that stupid hate blog about me. I went to check it and ironically the hate I was getting was pretty much what she was posting (so she was sending the hate herself to get me to look at her blog I guess). I could have ignored it entirely until I saw her phony posts about my mental health and being “concerned” about me.

That’s when I unblocked her and was like what the hell is your problem. I left her unblocked for a while then she started tagging me in posts where she’s also lying about me and it’s like girl…what is your deal? She’s blocked now though so she can go have her tantrums all she wants she looks crazy all on her own and I’m not very worried about her “debunking” anything. One because she clearly can’t and two she’s so obsessed with me as a person she’s stopped even trying to talk about Jess or Jamie. It’s creepy but it doesn’t bother me if I don’t pay attention to it. Something maybe she could learn about.

She’s still sending me anon hate and it’s obvious when it’s her I just delete it because she’s really not clever or worth my time.

When will bootlickers understand that alot people have no problem with diversity in RoP. The actual problem is the fact that Amazon disrespected Tolkien's legacy and tried to change alot of character's backstories and personalities. Not to mention making a cash grab out of it.

Fair warning, this is going to be a bit long simply because I have a lot to say on this.

I don't know how many people I've blocked over them calling everyone who hates RoP a racist. It's ridiculous. I don't know how this started.

But Hollywood has tricked people into defending the worst possible media in the world, tooth and nail, fighting for it like their life depends on it... simply dependent on if it has POC or women even mildly featured.

Instead of making good media, they tokenize minorities like a shield against all criticism. And I'm sad to see it actually working on so many people.

The thing specifically about RoP, is that there is some valid criticisms regarding the specific way the casting was handled, but Amazon has the easy out of calling everyone a racist in order to ignore the nuance. If they lump the genuine criticism in with the people who are just mad that there are POC, then that's how I get ignorant asshats in my notes calling me a white supremacist and telling me how I support Harvey Weinsten (tf?) all because I said that the show is bad.

Further breakdown under the cut, criticism of how Amazon the racist megacorp handled diversity in RoP.

I'm not an expert in Tolkien by any means. I'd say I know a bit more than most casual fans, only because I obsessively research the lore for my fanfiction, but I'm no Tolkien scholar.

That being said... I know that Tolkien already has built in diversity to his world. So right off the bat, it's inherently problematic to racebend characters and claim that you're "adding diversity" as if there never was any. You're flat out ignoring nonwhite nations, which... seems pretty racist to me.

The main issue of the specific way that diversity was handled for RoP is just another indicator that nobody involved in this manure pile has ever actually picked up a Tolkien book because...

There are tan/brown-skinned Hobbits mentioned. There are two proto-Hobbits as the main characters in RoP. Why weren't one or both of them POC? It would be canonical.

Or did they think that making the two filthy, hungry, idiot, moron buffoon characters POC would be too offensive? Though they had no problem making them stereotypically Irish... really makes ya think.

The showrunners are crowing about adding diversity that Tolkien supposedly "never did", yet they ignore the people groups and lore of entire POC nations he created in favor of poorly created OCs, and "representation" in the form of sloppy seconds by taking an originally white character, casting a POC actor/actress, and calling it representation. Maybe it's just me, but I think POC deserve original characters... and ones that are better written than the ones in RoP.

Not to mention that there is less known about these other nations, so less lore to screw up. Of course, making a series about the tragic story of how the Haradrim, the badass people group who tamed freaking Oliphants, eventually fell under the will of Sauron would mean they didn't get to use the names of characters that Everybody Knows. They'd actually have to be creative 🤪

Another huge thing is the specific implementation of "diversity" in RoP: It isn't diversity. It's tokenism.

The way the now-POC characters and OCs are treated is very odd. For some reason, the xenophobia/interspecies tension between Men and Elves is apparently all directed at the singular black elf?

And that's another thing.

One. Singular. Character.

Of each race.

Realistically, unless it's a coastal trade town or a large international city, the region will homogenize in about 3 or so generations. So either these characters are colonizers/the result of colonization in-lore, or... the more likely explanation... they're being used as mascots by Amazon. Because let's say that the "adding diversity that never was" argument actually made sense, despite the fact that we've established Tolkien already has diversity written into his wolrdbuilding...

Is it really adding diversity if it isn't reflected in the whole culture?

Why aren't a portion of the elves caucasian, then some are black, some are east asian, some south asian, some indigenous? Maybe the diversity is even based on the subcategories of elves, like the Silvan vs Sindar divide. Why not commit fully, use some creativity, and implement it in a way that is both interesting and complements the worldbuilding?

Because Amazon doesn't care about diversity beyond tokenism. As long as they check off their boxes ("make sure we get one dwarf, one elf, and one of the race of Men, the ladies can be royalty!"), they don't care about exploring what that would actually look like in the lore and worldbuilding.

And just a final note, but the Tolkien fandom has battled racists claiming that "orcs are black people" for so long. Only for Amazon to essentially canonize it (as much as this manure pile can be called "canon") because they couldn't be assed to know the barest bones of the lore.

(Or even watch the PJ movies apparently, because the Orcs coming from dark magic-twisted elves is explained by Saruman in Two Towers.)

I understand that some of this is extremely specific lore based stuff, but I suppose I'm used to adapted works of Tolkien having actual passion behind them, enough to care about the small details like the patterns on armor or the specific fabric of costumes. Even the notoriously awful Hobbit trilogy had more passion behind it than dollar signs.

The diversity itself is by no means problematic, and thats not what I or (most, I would hope) other critics are saying. But the ignorant implementation utilized in RoP winds up actually being offensive, and it's because everyone making this Product™️ went into it not with the mentality of passionately expanding what Tolkien had already created, but instead arrogantly thinking that they were surely making something better than the original.

oh, love!! little family quarrels that decided to develop themselves right before i left hahah.

i would say it is mainly my father’s fault. he used to be good, up until a certain point… i think i was 12? 13? dk, just really young.

i have an older brother (one he never even acknowledged, probs because he had him at 16), and a little sister who just turned 12 - that little girl is my whole world 🥹 all of us have the same dad/different moms dynamic, and with the exception of my brother we were forced to see him every week as kids.

with that image in mind, it’ll be easier to paint the picture for you: he got back to drinking and mistreating his children when i was just about to become a teenager. my brother was living in Japan, so i was the only one left to protect my sister from the things he’d say… she was a baby, she didn’t need that energy.

i started to have a mind of my own and often yelled back, oh boy was that the wrong thing to do in front of him 😅 never turned out well for me lol.

funniest thing was: he started becoming an actual father to my little sister. he was good, didn’t drink around her, bought her everything she wanted. don’t get me wrong, i am more than happy for her! she doesn’t even remember how he is with me… but you’d understand how that stings a bit, right?

he and i spent years without talking. i would see my whole family but he wouldn’t see me. he despised me with all his being.

before leaving, i spent 3 weeks with my aunt, little sis and cousins in Rio. got back to my hometown and stopped at his place to spend the afternoon - probably 7 years after not talking and feeling like shit - and he did not even look my way. i swear, honey, he ignored me like i wasn’t even there. and i tried everything.

he blames me for the state of our relationship. i know that. but i tried to forgive him and rebuild something and he, the fully grown adult, didn’t find it in him to do so. i’m almost 20 now, and i hate the feeling of ‘daddy doesn’t love me anymore’.

then again, every time he opens his mouth i wanna punch him lol. sexist, homophobic, racist comments that always have me asking my badass mom what the fuck did she have in mind - fun fact: she was drunk and trying to make her ex jealous 😂 i adore her.

my sis sent me a screenshot of a message he sent to her saying some of the mean things he used to say to me, and that ticked me off like a bomb. she is an angel who refuses to see his bad side, and i will never let him fuck her mind up like he did mine and my brother’s - so you can imagine how nice i was to him, right?

btw, did you see the age coincidence there? she’s the exact same as i was. the age when you start having your own opinions and little to no filters? yeahhhhhhh….. funnyyyyyyyy…..

Cat Bailey is the ultimate cock block. If Bailey isn't straight up attacking someone for "damaging their property," they are staring you down and yowling while you're trying to do the deed.

Alex gets uncomfortable with an audience. Even if they tell themself "it's just a cat" over and over, something about the cat's eyes seems too aware and it freaks Alex out.

Bailey won't even let you go on dates with Avery. Lays on your clothes and gets them covered with cat hair. Tries to climb up you and refuses to be left alone. Avery won't take you out when you have a cat on your shoulder. Bailey is more than willing to scratch up Avery's face if they try to force you to do anything.

Kylar can ignore their unease at being watched by your cat when trying to get intimate with you, but they can't ignore the claws digging into them. They don't want to hurt your cat, they don't want to make you upset, but if their jealousy gets the best of them, they might.

Robin is straight-up getting bullied by a cat. They jump whenever Bailey growls at them. Gets embarrassed if the cat is around when they're just cuddling with you.

Sydney does not know what they did to make this cat hate them so much. A lot of animals seem wary of Sydney, but none have ever been so openly hostile. Pure Sydney is just as bad as Robin, getting bullied by a cat and flinching when they're growled at. Corrupt Sydney is keeping eye contact with the cat while slipping their hands under your clothes. It's when claws dig into their thigh or when Bailey's growls alert you to their presence that things grind to a halt.

Keep Whitney and Bailey separate. Whitney is willing to kick a cat, especially one trying to keep them from getting head. Bailey does not care that they are tiny and breakable, they are going to try to bite Whitney's throat out. Sure, you won't be whored out for £50 or randomly tied up on Mer Street. But Whitney is extra rough when they manage to get you alone; your cat is always stressed out, growling and digging their claws into you; and there is the possibility of one of, if not both of, them getting seriously hurt.

I’ve been re-looking at the pap photos of Kate & Anthony at the races, and I’m just so excited - it seems these take place in an earlier episode based on the trailer.

The main thing I wanted to point out, and which is why I looked at them, is there Edwina is standing behind Anthony but he is basically blocking her out while him & Kate excited about the race. You can see her peeking over his shoulder at one point.

Firstly, I feel Edwina, I’m short so that is me at all concerts and sporting events, number two, it makes me feel better about the triangle, like I have felt fine, but Anthony is clearly ignoring Edwina because he can’t help but have fun with Kate. Also Danbury is behind them which makes me think they are sticking with her thoughts in the book (not understanding why Anthony ever went after E instead of K)

I’ve seen people speculate that Anthony & Edwina her engaged or even get to the church before fate intervenes and I would hate that (also they keep saying there is lots of drama and I was kind of hoping for an 8 hour romcom), so this has cheered me up anyway.

Anyway I just had to tell someone about it, and I cannot wait to see it

Yes I agree this ascot episode seems really early on and it’s exciting bc those pap photos really had the vibe of the book. Ppl have pointed out that we will be going from that petty nod he does to the two of them jumping and him HOLDING HER ARM all in the matter of a few scenes. We’re gonna get fed so good 😩

And the implications of Danbury behind them are so interesting. I really want to know the extent of her meddling. Like is she aware/helping the queen use Edwina as a pawn or does she have her own agenda? Either would be interesting imo but she has eyes so she’s instantly gonna know what’s going on is that K & A are the real thing here.

As for theories about an A/E engagement—I think it would be lazy writing and the most low-hanging fruit tactic to amp up the drama. They should strive for better writing because the only time I can really recall that interrupted wedding trope being good was in Shrek (sorry to Speak Now by ts but I’m different 😤). I don’t this theory is as far out of the realm of possibility as some might think it is, but it is so overdone of a trope that it can’t exist nowadays without being subverted, which they can’t do here. and I think the writing room knows that, at the very least?

However, in order to manage my own expectations I’m going to assume they would be that obvious and would consider it as a plot point. If I get comfortable with the idea of them going that route then I personally can never be disappointed with what we get 😂

And we can maybe guess there’s a bit of a bigger wedding than last season based on some pap photos, but we don’t know whose wedding either. A big kathony wedding (even if it makes more sense for a scandalous one like theirs to be rushed) would be interesting bc I think Kate would feel very out of her element in that environment. It would usher in her life as Viscountess aptly which we know was hard for her bc she didn’t feel worthy. It could also be some kind of featherington wedding too (🤪🤪pls ignore me) which I would like to see. Or maybe even Edwina almost marries someone else who knows.

But like we discussed before the A/K + E dynamic at the ascot seems on point! And talk of silly tea time between the three of them makes me think we’ll be okay, whatever happens. Perhaps my methods of expecting and becoming okay with my least favorite scenario for this season is extreme but imma do what I have to do 🤷‍♀️ I don’t really want to be convinced away from this perspective either because if/when we get a better storyline I’m gonna feel so blessed.

Y’all do what you have to do to manage your anxiety about release. If that’s completely dismissing the theory then ignore me and do that.

I've said this to another Sussex blog (99% sure it was mmarkle) but you can't ignore the other brother and the other wife into irrelevancy so I don't understand why some Sussex fans get upset at people that comment their activities. They aren't a normal family, they're colonizers with an empire they shamelessly want to hold onto and their treatment of Meghan opened many people's eyes to how they see their colonies, poc, women, us normal people and more. Commenting their "work" is a must.

To add to what I said, it's one thing to tell the squad to ignore royal reporters, we can ignore them into social media irrelevancy because the Camb stans and others spend more time hating Meghan than successfully promoting their favs that need to copy her to get some attention. But you can't ignore tabloids either. Don't give them clicks but we can't bankrupt billionaires that violate human rights by being quiet. Just saying because pretending ignoring is this powerful is false and dangerous.

This is an excellent point. I think a lot of people fail to realize that the royal "fandom" is a really, really hard place to keep distinct lines between royal watching and every other kind of celebrity/stan dynamic. It's easy to say, "Well, if you don't like a person, just don't pay them any attention!" when that person is Justin Bieber and I can block him on Spotify. "Just let people enjoy things!" is also totally fine here because if people want to listen to his music, they can do so without affecting me in any way, and I can not listen to his music and do so without affecting his fans in any way. It's a beautiful relationship of mutual ignorance.

But that just doesn't apply when we're talking about, as you pointed out, one of the oldest and most powerful colonialist empires in human history, and its descendants who continue to inflict its violent values onto real-life people around the world. We can't just "mute tag" our way out of this one, folks.

I will say, however, that some people actually do regress from royal watchers back into regular stans . . . in a bad way. Like, I am the first to admit that I am not a royal watcher, I did not care about those families before Meghan entered the picture and I do not care about them now that she left it. I am a stan of hers and, unexpectedly, her husband's now. But they didn't exactly "leave the picture," did they? The Sussexes will never be able to be wholly separate from the Royal Family, and vice versa. They are, in many ways, inextricably linked. So it makes sense to always be at least slightly aware of what shenanigans the rest of that family are tangled up in. Because it often affects our couple of interest in many real ways.

But the people who just . . . hate follow the rest of the family. Not to keep abreast of their political power, not to commentate on their impact, not even to keep an interested eye on fashion or style. But to snark and be like, "Ugh, did you see Kate today? William totally ignored her, LOL! I bet he snuck into the rose bushes last night 🤪 Ew, why does she dress her kids so ugly? The way she held that shovel is pathetic." Like guys . . . at that point, you are an anti-fan. Which is your right to be, I guess, but be honest with yourself, at least. And also, don't be offended if certain kinds of Sussex stans don't want to follow that content. I really don't want to be updated every time William or Kate doing something dumb or cringe. As a person, its important to stay aware, yes. But as a stan, sometimes I just wanna see cute pictures of Meg and that's it. Everybody is free to engage with both of these sides of the coin as little or as much as they please.

It's everyone's right -- and honestly, responsibility -- to curate their own social media experience. Do so with intention.
