#since i've decided to be online™ for a minute i'm gonna drop a controversial post and dip #i'm so so tired of people and their opinions on rainbows at shows #when people started bringing flags to 1d shows it was because they felt safe and the fandom felt like a community to them #they didn't do it for the boys and they didn't do it in the hopes of the boys interacting with the flags #the boys were lovely enough to make the fans feel safe and that's why the fans brought flags and stuff along with them #however as of late people have forgotten that and they bring it in the hopes of louis interacting with them #and then they're disappointed when he doesn't interact with them and unlarrie or unstan or whatever #like i'm so sorry but he never asked you explicitly to bring flags. and also he doesn't owe you an interaction #sure it's fun to do fan projects and to see everyone come together but do it for yourself #don't do it because you think he's a sorry closeted person who needs to see the support #he knows he's supported. he founded the rainbow bears so he definitely knows he's supported #by pressuring him to interact with the flags or whatever you're literally just shoving his closet in his face #just because harry interacts with rainbows does not mean louis should do. they're two completely different people #with completely different situations. so don't invalidate their identities #if you want to bring flags along do it for yourself do it because you want to do it because you feel the community #don't ever for whatever reason do it for louis because you think he needs it or whatever #like in general don't do it for other's sake. do it for you and only you. #i'm genuinely tired of the louis vs rainbow conversation coming up every few days so yeah

Listen, sometimes in life you’ve just gotta ignore canon, and even certain headcanons/AUs you don’t like or agree with and come up with your own/a version of the thing you like. As a form of self-care. This is a moral I live by, I think anyone who knows me knows at this point.

But for all that is good and decent in the world, you still absolutely need to be respectful towards others, even if what they made does not gel with you, personally. Especially if they’re the original creator(s) of the original, canon work.

Bouncing back and forth between the regular Hazbin Hotel tag and the critical tag because I don't really vibe wholly with either side!

I'm loving the show, a lot actually, but I think it's very flawed and want to engage with critique of the show...but it seems like a lot of people (not all, obviously, but a lot) are split on their feelings on the show and I think both sides (lovers or haters) are sick of each other so there's very little middle ground...

The fans are sick of the negativity so they lean into the positive stuff which is fine, but I find a lot will praise/give a pass to things that I just don't think are good/passable...

The haters are sick of the praise and giving passes to certain issues in the show which is understandable, but I find people having issues with things I either don't think are problems or blowing things out of proportion...

And that's just in regards to the show itself, that's not even getting into everything regard Viv but I'm not brave enough to go into any of that! lol

I'm just bummed I don't feel like I have a lot of people to talk to about the show. The people who love the show seem to not wanna hear/not agree with any critiques, and the people who are pissed at the show don't seem to want to hear anything positive about it.

I'm tired... lol

I’m not sure what you are racially or ethnically but as a latino from Latin America that moved to the US 5 years ago, I hate the latino Jason headcanon. It’s mostly built on him being catholic and he’s not even that in the main continuity, also I’d rather not have someone who was running the crime rings be one of the only latinos in DC. I think many people that see him as latino forget that not all latinos are catholic too (catholicism has actually dropped in “popularity” in many latam countries) it’s just weird that they get mad when that’s pointed out

This is a complete non-issue, but a pet peeve of mine in batfam fics is how people describe the accents (or lack thereof). Like, I keep seeing people say such-and-such character (read: Jason) has a "thick Gothamite" accent and then contrast that to another character (usually Tim or Bruce) to say they have a clear "upper-class Gotham" accent. On one hand, I get the want to do a bit of world-building. And wanting to describe the economic differences between the characters. But at the same time. What is this, London? Idk, maybe it's just me but I don't feel like there's a significant difference between the "Standard" American accent and how the Upper Class in America talk. (aside from maybe vocabulary and that's more about access to education) And more specifically for Tim. Even if you're trying to say there's a difference in how the high society of Gotham talks from everyone else. The Drakes have been described as new money multiple times. So I doubt he'd have a noticeable accent. Also, is there really a need to have a unique accent in Gotham when it's literally in New Jersey? Even when fics go out of their way to say the characters have noticeable accents. I rarely see them describe how it sounds or use any unique sayings or slang. I personally doubt the people of Gotham would even sound all that different from the rest of New Jersey. While reading people phonetically type out thick accents is a different kind of hell. If you're going to say the characters in Gotham have accents for world-building purposes, there are so many videos of people talking about the slang and phrases unique to that area so why not use them?
