2023 in Review

Fucking Christ, what a year. 2023, like 2015 and 2018, were years that forced me to prove my resilience, and it's so fucking tiring. I unexpectedly lost a family member, had one of my pets come down with a nearly fatal illness, had an obscene number of car issues, acquired a truly godawful amount of debt, have been chronically ill for nearly six months without any explanation why, nearly lost my best friend, and had to step away from a community I love because my mental health absolutely shattered. I've been stuck in survival mode since January 20th.

And yet, some incredible things happened as well. I got to travel in July and escape the Arizona heat to spend time with a beloved friend in the southern hemisphere. I got to spend time with people I love dearly (even if I still need to go see one of them on her home turf). I accidentally joined a community unlike any I've been part of before and made my first non-fandom friends in years.

One of those new friends gave me a safe place to fall apart, and for the first time in years, I've been able to feel like I don't have to be resilient. It's been hard. Falling apart is terrifying. It feels like I'm breaking down over and over and over. What's actually happening is all of the duct tape and twine that's been holding me together since 2013 is coming undone bit by bit. I'm finally safe enough to start piecing myself back together for real.

I have no idea what 2024 is going to hold. I'm scared. I'm more nervous than excited. I'm cautiously optimistic. My only goal is to have 2024 be a net good year. This time next year, I want to look back on 2024 and be able say it was the best year of my life so far, and I would love for there to be not a single heartbreak in sight. I suppose we'll see, won't we?

that's great buddy but don't go around thinking you're immune to this. if you're not looking for plagiarism, you likely won't notice it unless its egregiously obvious. hell, you've probably consumed plagiarized content without even realizing it. even hbomb pointed out that these people disguised what they presented pretty well as long as you didn't try and dig deeper. don't come away just thinking of this as a callout piece, take this as an important lesson about vetting your sources. if googling scripts in quotes was enough to expose the original, we should all start doing that shit!!

Video game I saw in a dream. It was in this low poly style like an older video game. You play as this character I think was meant to be a lamb, or maybe a weird mix of a lamb a mouse and a rabbit, (while not really looking like any of those things) and you’re running away from a wolf. Your objective is to last as long as possible before the wolf catches and eats you.

The house you’re running in is endless and bizarrely put together like most building interiors in dreams are (like the infinite toilet dream dimension on Reddit lol) the layout of the house is pretty detailed, you can stop and hide in places like closets or bins while the wolf looks for you, you can go up and down stairs and into rooms etc.

You never actually know where the wolf is or how close it is to you until it appears in your line of sight, it makes no noise and the game gives you no way of knowing where it is, and it’s pretty unpredictable it doesnt move at a consistent pace. When the wolf catches you there’s an animation showing it eating your character
