I can't remember the last time I wrote so much after an episode right after it ended, but I have so many thoughts! This time, it's things I'm looking forward to in the next episode or things I hope happen.

Spoilers for Episode 77 below the cut:

Ashton is awkward and often an asshole, which distracts people (both in-game and in fandom) from the fact they are also one of the main caregivers in Bell's Hells. There are endless examples of their care, particularly for FCG, Laudna, Orym, and Fearne, but also for the others, both in battles and in conversations. But that care mostly goes unremarked on by the rest of the party or themselves. Because they're so durable in a fight, Bell's Hells have rarely had to face the thought of what life would be like without Ashton. Now they've all had to stand by and watch them die over and over again, with only two of them able to help in any way. If nothing else, they'll all have to confront that idea now.

Ashton is a mess. They use bluster and arrogance to cover up their low self esteem and self-hatred. They are convinced they are the most expendable person in any group they are in, even as they're desperate to matter in the world and for connection with others. They're a hypocrite, demanding everyone else know and acknowledge their worth and not take unnecessary risks, while ignoring that advice themselves. Everything in their life has taught them they only have value if they can do things for others; if they're not useful, then they're worthless. But because they're relatively quiet about all this and are reliable and responsible in most situations (at least compared to most of the rest of the team), none of that shit has so much as inconvenienced anyone in Bell's Hells. It's never caused an issue before now, so it's never gotten any attention. I hope that's going to change after this, it's a problem that can't be ignored any longer.

Imogen, Laudna, FCG, and Orym all tend to lean into the idea of martyring themselves for the team or the world. I can't wait to see their reaction to watching Ashton almost doing exactly that. I would love if there was some self-awareness that happens on their parts because of all of this, but I'm not overly optimistic. At the very least I hope they all talk about it finally.

Just...these people need to talk to each other! I want them to be angry and hurt at the way Ashton did what they did and at the risk they took. If that hadn't worked they would have lost not only their beloved friend but also the shard, a power they need for the fight ahead, that they all worked so hard to get, and that can't ever be replaced if lost.

And Ashton is loved by all of them, that's what's underneath that anger and pain. I want them to tell them that, even if they can't really hear it or internalize it. Someone needs to and they need to do it again, and again, and again until it sticks.

I want Ashton to talk about his feelings for the others. Directly, honestly, without all the hedging and awkward bluster. They've adored Fearne from the first moment they met, she needs to hear that! They have some kind of feelings for Orym, what is that? They love Laudna, Imogen, and FCG so fiercely, come out and say it! They even love Chetney, whether they're ever willing to admit it or not. Of everything in this list, this is the thing I'm the least sure will happen. I suspect when faced with anger, Ashton will give anger right back. I hope I'm wrong or that someone won't let them get away with it.

Arthur's notes! Kon-El(90s Superboy), are brothers Conner(Young Justice) also Jordan & Jonathan are their younger twin brothers. Also Dick Grayson is Robin.

Y/N's parents abandon her which leads to her becoming apart of a family that would grow and grow and grow.

Y/N steps away out from the school, she feels her gut twist seeing Kon with a blank expression as his father was scolding him. He was still worrying about her he didn't feel the need to defend himself. His, mother close by with no sign disagreeing what his father was saying.

She slowly approaches Clark lowered his voice hearing her footsteps come closer. He turns to see the young girl with a bruise on her cheek. The parents then fear somehow she had gotten in the middle of the fight.

"Mr and Mrs Kent.. It wasn't Kon's fault it was mine. I was with Kon and my ex was jealous, he took it out on me and your son did the right thing"

"oh sweetheart. Thank you for telling us the truth of what had happened. This was NOT your fault" Lois kindly said

"Lois is right" Clark agreed "were glad you're OK"

"thanks to your son" she smiled to Kon

The parents look to their son with guilt on their faces, he shrugged his shoulders

"it's fine I mean my reputation isn't exactly reliable" Kon sarcastically said

Lois turned her attention back to the young girl "thank you again for clearing things up" just then, she remembered a little girl who used to visit their home and was, her son's best friend "you ate Y/N L/N, right?"

Kon panicked inside. Why did his mother have to say that?

"uh yes, you remember me?"

"of course we do, our son talks about you all the time" Clark said

Kon quickly cut in "anywho!! Ma, Dad I'm going to take Y/N back to her house and I'll be back home for dinner tonight"

Lois softly scoffs "oh nonsense, Y/N would care to join us for dinner? So long as it's OK with your parents"

"I'd love to.."

Y/N and Kon finished dinner with his family. The two walked outside together in the peaceful field however Y/N was not at peace. Kon had been her best friend for years.. But how could she tell him? The past year they had drifted apart as she barely saw him. Now her life had truly been falling apart.

"so what time do I have to take you home?" Kon asked in playful bitter tone

She gently smiled to him "oh don't worry about that. You already have done so much for me.. Besides I can walk home"

"I am not letting you walk home alone. Why would you even think I'd let that happen? Your folks still hate me?" Kon sighed

"no, it's more along the lines of them hating me and not wanting anything to do with me" Y/N stuttered

"Y/N what happened?.."

"my uh.. My parents left me" she admitted to only person she can truly trust.

Kon was shocked, appalled "Whoa Whoa, they left you? All alone? Have you seriously been all alone?" he grunted angered at himself "fuck me. I am so sorry Y/N. I should have been there"

"no, Kon. It's OK" she assured saddening

He sweetly touches her shoulders "no it isn't.. It really isn't. I'm so sorry that I wasn't there"

"drifted as we, may.. I still trust you" she gently smiled

"I'm glad you still do.. Where have you been staying?" he then asked

"at the house.. If if it's too cold Mount Justice.."

"you need somewhere safe to stay.. Not Mount Justice. A real home"

"I know.. But I don't want to leave my friends or you.. And foster care seems utterly ridiculous when no one will want me"

"Y/N you are wanted, don't say that. Just because two people who were supposed to love you abandoned you. Does not mean you're unloved, ok?"

She gently nodded her eyes shaking "thank you"

She hugs him tightly. Kon gently wrapped his arms around her. He had to fix this.

The Kent's helped her move her bags into the car. Kon gave her the biggest hug he could without causing her any harm.

"I'm gonna miss you at school" he mumbled

"I will miss you too.. But I'll see you on missions.. And more if you want to visit me"

"well of course I want to and you are more than welcome to come see me to" Kon exclaimed

She sits in the passenger seat as Bruce Wayne made his to Wayne Manor.. Her new home.

During her time... Alfred was kind to her and helped her in many ways. Dick was no were near whelmed with having a big sister. He was truly the most excited and most welcoming.

Batman was different. Rather than ignore her completely he didn't. He listened to her, he helped her and he seemed to care. She still was worried even with the adoption papers signed by his signature... Things would fall apart.

She had been staying in the Manor for nearly over a year. She was inside the Bat-cave her heart beating up and down hard enough she could go into a anxiety attack if she wasn't careful.

"he'll be fine. He's done this before.. Although Maybe not quite this long" Dick said seeing his sisters obvious distraught.

She remained silent unable to calm down. She had finally seemed to be getting close to her father.. Now.. Could he be hurt? Could he have left them? Just as her lips tremble. She tightly crossed her arms and closed her eyes.

Batman had been unresponsive for almost a hour. Alfred gave orders for H/N and Robin to stay until he became responsive.

The Bat-mobile drives into the Manor skidding across the platform. The door opens and he leaps out landing not so perfectly. All while placing pressure on the bleeding wound on his hip.

"although that usually doesn't happen" Dick nervously said.

To be abandoned was one thing. To be loved by another parent and to.. Almost lose them. She never experienced such heavy emotions. Alfred tends to his wounds. Bruce could see his daughter, was furious.

"Y/N--" she instantly lost her control

"do you not have the decency to tell us you were injured?!!? Do you care so little of how worried we were?! How could you--" she stammered as past fears became present in her eyes.

She steps away from them to leave in her heartbreak. Grayson wanted to hug her, but knew she needed space.

"Y/N!" Bruce shouted to her wanting to resolve what happened

Though she kept walking. As she made it to her room. Y/N leans against her the door she slammed. Her knees give out as she falls to sit against the door.

She was festering in her anxious thoughts. Still sitting there as she cried. He must be disappointed in her she believed.

She sees a, floating figure outside her window. She didn't bother moving too overcome with emotion. Her boyfriend opens her window flying inside. He sits beside her. He draped her legs over his own and held her in his arms. He gently moves her beautiful face on his chest.

"I yelled at him Kon. Like really yelled at him for only being gone for almost a hour... He could have died and I yelled at him. He is going to hate me. I m-messed up"

Kon gently shakes his head and began placing kisses all around her "Baby no no no. That's not true. Please don't say or even dare think that, Honey. You were scared and that's ok, that's normal. He loves you. You're his daughter"

"I just.. I don't want to lose him to" she began to sob.

"you won't" he promised kissing her.

Kon held her until her eyes grew weak and her exhaustion finally took in. He gently laid her down on her bed. He lays her blanket on her and kisses her goodbye.

After a few too many convincing words from her family and her boyfriend. She stood in front of the door to Bruce's room. She had a glass of water, to excuse the reason why she was here.

She clears her throat and shakes her emotions away. She moves her hand to knock instantly remembering coming to a, empty house.. Abandoned... She knocks.

"come in Y/N" Bruce said

She sighed, of course he knew it was her. She opens the door to see Bruce laying in his bed. He had his chest bandaged and a, bandaid on his face.

"I.. I uh brought you some water"

"thank you" he gently smiled

She placed it on his nightstand. He could tell his poor daughter, was completely nervous.

"I suppose I owe you a apology for my outburst. It won't happen again" she promised ashamed "if you... If.." she couldn't force her worst fear out

"Y/N I did not intend to worry you. You are going to become angered with me time and time again. However I will never abandon you Y/N" Bruce promised his daughter.

"it's not just that, I don't want you to die" she cried

"don't worry. I or someone will alert back up before that happens" he promised her

"Superman?.."

"my heart have better stopped beating.." he demands

She laughs knowing he was serious "I may have to sacrifice your dignity"

He takes her his daughter's hand "if that is what it takes"

Modern/Human Sebek

Human Sebek's closest friend in the Baskverse is def STYX Sebek, or Sebek Shroud. Since he's more than aware of slang and how to use it, conversations with him are more fun and there's less miscommunication, especially among a bunch of Sebeks that are socially inept. It's why both of them aren't afraid to bully each other.

He's not that close with OG Sebek, who judges him for being fully human. They're able to work it out in the end though. For now, he gets a bit...embarrassed, seeing OG Sebek act the way he is. It reminds him of his old fanboy phase.

He doesn't know what to think of Housewarden Sebek, since most of the time he acts aloof and cold towards him. It doesn't help that they fight over Human Sebek's relationship with Diasomnia. But at the end of the day, he knows that he's reliable and that he has his back.

He thinks that Ghost Sebek is super nice...if it weren't for the fact that he keeps on insisting on "borrowing" his body, saying that he "looks warm." He's usually the victim of Ghost Sebek's jokes and pranks, but their relationship is more akin to brothers of the same age.

STYX Sebek

He's so glad that there's someone in the group who actually understands his jokes and references. He makes a lot of inside jokes with Human Sebek because of this. He can't handle being in a group that's so...cold. And unfunny. And aloof. And-

He took one look at OG Sebek and immediately thought that "oh boy he has some ISSUES lawl." He doesn't find much fun in teasing him because unlike Housewarden, OG is a bit more unstable. Trying to tease him, especially with Shroud's crass, blunt, and idgaf personality will most likely end with OG blowing up or ending up in tears after a joke too far.

LOVES to make fun of Housewarden Sebek. Imagine falling out with ur Diasomnia??? Scratch that, imagine HAVING a Diasomnia (he has no idea who they are). He constantly teases him because he gets the BEST reactions out of him. Housewarden hasn't blown up at him yet, so the teasing shall continue! Even so, he trusts him with his life.

Ghost Sebek INTRIGUES HIM. He genuinely thought that he wasn't dead for a good while before Ghost revealed it to them, which resulted in the "R U /SRS OR /J." He wants to observe him like a bunch of bacteria spinning around on a petri dish. It does unnerve him a bit, knowing that he's...dead, but he's gotten used to it faster than the other.

OG Sebek

A VERSION OF HIM THAT'S FULLY HUMAN!? PREPOSTEROUS! He's constantly judging whatever Human Sebek does, even after finding out that his Diasomnia is also fully human...as well as literally everyone else. He just can't wrap his head around it. They have a tense relationship due to this, but they end up having a lot in common in the end.

He can't STAND STYX Sebek. He somehow always finds a way to push all of his buttons, and he can't do anything about it! It doesn't help that his jokes and teases always have truth and meaning behind them, which makes for a lot of existential crisis' for OG Sebek. He can't help but be interested in how he dresses up though...

Housewarden Sebek leaves him AWESTRUCK. Their universes are the ones with the most similarity, and STYX actually has a theory that they come from the same universe- just from different timelines. So, knowing that there's a possibility Sebek could be a housewarden himself someday...HE MUST NOT LET WAKASAMA DOWN!

When he met Ghost Sebek he immediately knew the cause of his death. He almost suffered the same fate as him, after all. He gets a bit creeped out because of this, knowing that if he wasn't able to grab onto...he doesn't like thinking about it. It doesn't help that Ghost seems to have formed an interest in him.

Housewarden Sebek

Human Sebek is HOPELESS in his eyes. Why can't he see that his situation with Diasomnia will end up in flames? There's no use holding onto people who'll just leave you behind in the end. They butt heads over this, but he's fond of him. Think of it as an older-younger brother relationship.

He will admit that STYX Sebek is scarily on point with his jokes. He knows how to push people's buttons, and he knows how to use the right words to rile people up. Him included. He's a bit embarrassed that he keeps falling for them, but he's not that bothered about it as he shows to be. They're basically a duo atp.

Was this really how he acted back then? He's getting so much second-hand embarrassment just from being in the same room with OG Sebek. It's like his past came to bite him in the ass. He's still fond of him though, as OG reminds him of a younger him that hasn't gone through the horrors that he's faced...yet. For now, he tries his best to be a good role model.

Looking at Ghost feels like deja vu. Just like OG, he's fully aware of the cause of his death. He can't help but feel sorry for him. The worst part about Ghost is he acts like his childhood self. Carefree and just so happy to be living. Which is ironic, considering he's dead. He can't bear to look at him most of the time.

Ghost Sebek

It's weird, seeing himself...alive. What if Epel was slightly to the right instead? What if he was closer? What if he held on just a bit longer? What if he was actually found? What can you advise us, 12th housers, not to feel isolated from people? After all, the twelfth house is not social at all. Thank you very much :)

There are many reasons that lead a person to isolate themselves from the rest, this may be due to betrayals, bad experiences, perceiving negative things from other people, or even fear. Each of these reasons are valid and should not be questioned by anyone, because the struggle is something real and it is something that only the person with 12th house placements understands. I would like to be able to advise both an astrological point and one that is not so much.

Non-astrological advice:

🟫Not all people are the same. When we have experienced betrayal many times our defense mechanism is to close in ourselves, but let me tell you that there are also very good people out there. The experiences that you have gone through were difficult and I know that you are constantly fighting against them, but what you lived through helped you to be stronger and to realize what behaviors are wrong in a relationship of any kind. Wanting company is completely normal, it makes you human and can be of great help to you. This desire is usually repressed by them for fear of being perceived as weak. You are a strong person because you moved on after what you have been through and what you’ve felt, you are right to feel that you want and deserve a trustworthy and reliable friend/companion/partner.

🟫Opening up to others is not something to be ashamed of. No, you are not weak for wanting to tell someone what happened to you, you are not an attention-seeker for wanting to vent or for taking the word of someone who offers you their ear to listen to you. Allow me to introduce my FE3H OC, Maeve!

❧Name: Maeve Fresnay

❧Affiliation: Holy Kingdom of Faerghus

❧In short: A magician serving lady Gladys of house Eilyn, a vassal of house Fraldarius. Maeve joins Dimitri’s army after the time skip as a part of the reinforcements brought by Rodrigue. Sweet, elegant and sensitive, she isn’t a soldier by vocation but is willing to protect her friends and bring an end to the war. A skilled singer and musician, Maeve brings a lot of color and joy to her lady’s entourage. She may not look like much, but possesses a lot of inner strength and bravery. She has been separated from her older sister and his looking for her. She also gets along very well with Dedue and later falls in love with him.

In battle, she also wears dark eyeshadow to give herself a more ferocious appearance and bolster her confidence.

❧Personality: Maeve has a luminous personality. Smiling is her way to stand against adversity and she's at ease in most social situations. She likes having fun and has a passion for music. She often sings or plays her lute, finding pleasure in playing for others and entertaining them. Open-minded and curious, she enjoys learning new songs and meeting new people.

Due to her sensitivity, she’s extremely receptive to other people's emotions, sometimes to the point that she absorbs them like a sponge. Her mind works very fast and she’s plagued by anxious thoughts, that can even become morbid and tries to hide them with more or less success. To deal with this, she needs to find an occupation or talk to someone as she hates being lonely. She can cry after difficult events as she releases all her pent-up emotions.

She wants to be seen by all as a reliable ally and secretly has self-esteem issues. Being the youngest member of her friend’s group, she was at first the "little sister" and the one with the least battle experience. She doesn’t want to be seen as such and feels bad when others have to reassure and comfort her. 

She likes flowers, pretty clothes, make-up and accessories. She tends to accumulate objects and is sometimes tempted by some impulse purchases. The circumstances of the war have, however, taught her to deal with these these.

Maeve possesses great offensive power. She favors fire and thunder spells such as Thoron, though she also uses Sagittae. During the story, she learns to master Ragnarok.

Maeve is, to her regret, a mediocre healer. She can only treat superficial wounds and only with great effort.

bird primary + slightly burnt snake secondary (bird model) (burnt-out badger model)

I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this, oh well :). I recently found the SHC community and fell in love with your analysis. (Disclaimer that I may have misinterpreted some of the traits, again, very new at this.)

I am hoping you can help me sort out my secondary. My primary is very obviously a bird, no problem. I mean, I exibit certain chararistics of the others at certain times, such as strongly valuing personal loyalty and such, but I think complexity is just part of being a human and I fit really neatly into almost all of the bird stuff I've read.

and I mean... "strongly valuing personal loyalty" can just, very easily, be something that you fold into your Bird System.

But my secondary is really giving me trouble. But I keep flipping between snake with badger model or burnt badger with snake model. (With others thrown in for flavor!)

For context, I was raised in VERY emphasized badger home. And like, mostly, I agree? Hard work, grit, and consistency ARE extremely important, and while those are not the only way to ever accomplish things, they tend to be the most reliable and the most likely to give long term success. They also tend to build long lasting relationships that are supportive and grow with you over time and not just around one time/phase/stage in life. (Not that those aren't important) I want to be like that- be the reliable hard-working one. But I'm not! I am fairly lazy actually, and am constantly searching for a way around projects/problems, very often to my own detriment.

So okay. We've got some negative self-talk here.

I don't like the word "lazy" - mostly because it's just incredibly non-specific. "Lazy" can mean issues with executive functioning, it can mean I don't think xyz is important, so of course I'll cut corners. It can mean you're exhausted. It can mean you're depressed. It can mean 'if I am not working literally all the time, I'm worthless.' It can mean you're having a fun, goof-off day. See what I mean?

So what this does tell me is 1) You've got a strong Badger secondary voice in your ear, saying that This Is How It Has To Be and 2) that kind of chafes. You're about working around things, working smarter not harder, and getting out of/finishing quickly the things you don't want to do. Which is 100% completely fine! All it means is that you're probably not a Badger secondary!

And while I am very good at lying and do it to get myself out of problems semi-regularly, I feel guilty about it after (not usually in the moment) becuase of my moral system (bird primary).

I'm leaning slightly-burnt Snake here. Healthy Snakes don't usually refer to their shape-changing as "lying," so I'm keeping that in mind.

But being so snake/adaptable does have many benefits, especially in talking/working with others, and I value my ability to change to fit each person or situation. I am also often able to find unique solutions to the problems I caused myself by not doing it "right" the first time.

Definitely sounds like an improvisational secondary, and changing for the person (as opposed to changing for the situation) is very Snake.

My father has a job in the local public eye and I grew up learning how to be able to talk to anyone, act interested in anything, and have a different mask for school, vs public, vs with friends, vs just being me at home.

Sounds like you built an Actor Bird secondary model (and some of that is of course you going into Neutral.

And sometimes I feel guilty for "manipulating" people, as my moral system emphasis honesty, but just as often I pride myself on making people feel good becuase I figured out what they needed/wanted and gave it to them while making it seem like it wasn't a calculated read of the situation.

Snake. And a fairly important part of this system is that "manipulating" is a completely neutral problem-solving technique. You can manipulate people to do good, and manipulate people to do bad, just the same as you can use the Badger dependability and ability to fly under the radar to do good things, and bad things.

Overall, I am grateful for my childhood (truly I've got great parents) and I think it's super important to be able to react well to unexpected circumstances, so much so that when I finish college this spring (we'll get to that in a second) I want to go into disaster response and crisis management to help others deal with unforseen circumstances. I've worked as an EMT, and hopefully soon as a 911 dispatcher before going into formal disaster response.

I think that will suit you perfectly and (as I'm sure you probably know) that's something a Badger secondary would not be nearly as good at.

I'm very comfortable using snake methods and it makes me feel clever when I come up with an unexpected solution or pull off a tricky social maneuver-

This is a big sign this is your secondary - using it makes you feel powerful.

I just feel guilty because they hard-core fail me when it comes to big tasks I simply don't want to do- situations where the only solution is to just get it done the hard way, and trust me, I would have looked for any other options.

I see this most often in my schoolwork. I'm a double-major senior and I am definitely burnt out from school.

Don't blame you. Sounds like you bootstrapped your way through on the family Badger secondary model, and now you're sick of using it.

I am a "gifted child," and I have always done very well in school. I've never had to work very hard at any subject, and so I never did. I always procrastinated and slid in 2 minutes before a deadline.

Very, very common story. You're using adrenaline to hack your brain to punch through executive functioning issues, we've all done it, we know it's not sustainable. Same with not having to work hard in school - you're brain's going fast, you're making connections, you're using meta-knowledge (you're using your secondary.)

The difference is that in college I started not caring about deadlines, being very late or not turning something in entirely. I got A's and F's, no in between. I am graduating, mostly due to amazing professors.

You were burnt out. This is what burnout sounds like. But you made it through, and honestly people just care if you graduated, or not.

There have been things in my life that I've worked really hard at, such as becoming an emt while in high school or my internship last summer, and I have felt really proud of that. But I don't enjoy the work for its own sake, and there have been just as many things I've cared about that I let be mediocre at best becuase I didn't want to put in the effort.

And that's fine! There are some things you care about (and you're incredibly accomplished) and there are some things you don't, and what's the problem with that?

And, some of the best feedback I recieved from that internship was that I always was working hard- and seemed positive about it. When I told them I have to "work hard to work hard" they were shocked and I felt very happy. For 2 reasons: 1, becuase I did actually put in a lot of work to work hard and it showed me that I can when I truly want to (I was starting to doubt), and 2, that they perceived me like that.

I'm guessing it also felt good because there's a large part of you that sees Badger as "the good one."

There's a slightly annoying thing about being human, that gets into the sunk-cost fallacy and things like that, that things we put a lot of effort into are inherently better, or more valuable. But it's just not true. Often the thing that's so easy it doesn't feel like work, the story or painting that just came together, *is better* than the one you slaved and sweat and bled over.

Also, I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety, probably stemming back from before high school (it's strongly in family history, inevitable more than circumstancial), so how much of that overshadows my personality?

I mean, I think your personality comes through loud and clear. Just stop describing yourself as "lazy" okay?

To make things more complicated I love learning and picking up random bits of information, and I love trying new things. My nickname was Wikipedia in high school becuase I could always be relied upon to have some cursory knowledge about anything, though not always the helpful knowledge. (Bird vibes) I do that for the fun of it though, and it doesn't tend to be the basis of how I make decisions or react to situations.

We know you built a Bird model, so it's good that you can use it as a toy.

So what is going on here? Am I a burnt out badger who needs to not be in the school system for a while to reset and be able to dedicate myself to the things I love, and who uses snake mechanisms to cover my weak spots becuase I got good at that in childhood

You can burn out models. It's pretty common, and it's the puzzle piece you're missing here. You are a Snake. You model Badger when you have to. But because it IS hard, use it too much and it burns out and starts to hurt to use.

At which point you fall back on your Snake secondary and Actor Bird model. Don't worry. You made it through the tough times, and your new situation seems much better suited to your Snake.

Or am I a snake who strongly values badger traits but needs to figure out how to blend them? (And how do I do that?) And also go back to therapy? What's bird doing in there, anyway? I think I'm leaning option two, but like I said- I'm very flip-floppy about the whole thing.

Okay, but hear me out. You're trying to compliment Reiner seriously, but he ends up saying, "Flattery will get you nowhere." in a scolding tone, thinking you're just saying things and being insincere in order to get on his good side. So you furrow your brows and begin to literally lecture him about what a great guy he is despite what he believes. And him not being able to take all those compliments, because no one has ever really been so observant or attentive to him in that way; so he does whatever he can, uses whatever means to shut you up because he can't take it. Feels like his chest would explode, thinking what he did to deserve this; deserve you.

I'm taking this as a personal fuckin attack Nonnie 😤 How dare you get me tearing up this damn early over by babiest of baby boys! 🥺

My determination and devotion to a cause has never been higher than my desire for the opportunity to help Reiner see how truly amazing and wonderful he is.

As much as I love Porco, I hate his comment about how all of the way Reiner acted on Paradis was him copying and manifesting Marcel. Like, he was inspired by Marcel yes, and maybe it started out with even Reiner just acting, but even outside of the implications of him developing DID it was Reiner reacting to people he came to care for. I think the being an extroverted leader is the big thing he took from Marcel. But all the things that made him a good leader, trusted companion and reliable friend were traits that Reiner already had.

Ugh, I just want to wrap him up in a bubble and tell the world to fuckoff and leave my mans alone! Hasn't he given enough! Let him have some vestiges of self esteem and self love damn it! 😭

But for real though, being Reiner's partner would involve patience and lots of energy and care to reassure him often of your --not just love, but even just liking him as a person.

And depending on the point in his life where you two become partners -canonverse or modern au- I think Reiner can objectively see and acknowledge that he's attractive by general societal standards, but his whole self-loathing and lack of self-esteem comes from him thinking he's a shitty person on the inside. Hella imposter syndrome (same baby boy). Probably thinks that he's some how manipulated you into thinking he's a decent person or something. Because how could he be when his dad wants nothing to do with him/reiner thinks himself being born is why his dad left his mom but really his dad is a deadbeat asshole 😒/ and also he thinks that his mom is never really proud of him cause she's never said as much, and has been a single mom dealing with her own heartache and self issues. Not an excuse but it is what it is. And he's constantly trying to "win/earn" her affection--of which he desires words and actions that prove that. But barely gets the later. And yes he has his friends. Mainly Bertholdt and Pieck--I'd say poooossibly Marcel but maybe moreso acquaintances? Like Marcel is valedictorian and captain of all the sports teams they both play on, and Reiner is always falling short behind him? Maybe even a few places behind? I dunno.

But anywho, obviously he's somehow manipulated you into thinking he's worth your time. And he's definitely a self sabotager in that regard. :/ Now I'm really curious about exploring how you'd actually finally get to be dating my interpretation of Reiner. I think it'd definitely have to be a good friends first situation. And you asking him out. So if you want this sad lovable Teddy Graham you're gonna have to make the moves first.

I think maybe he might end up in some random hookup situations outside this relationship. So maybe it's a repeat booty call catching feelings type deal? Like if he's at a party and someone comes onto him and they're flirting and they wanna hook up, he's not gonna turn it down. Especially with how much this man craves physical connection. Like the sex is great for sure, but he really is just wanting someone to hold on to and they hold him back. If that's while he's pounding them into the mattress or wall, then woop!

Mini Analysis: Mako Komuro

Here's our surprise focus for, I guess, my first semi-formal breakdown on a former public figure? Yay! I was going through my main blog and came across the semi-old post regarding her and her husband and I went to go check up on them and fell down a rabbit hole lmao, so here I am!

Introduction

If you are familiar with the British royals and engage in all of that drama, then you might've caught wind of something similar around 2017 in regards to the Japanese imperial family. If you didn't, I'll try and summarize. She was the eldest of her family and it was pretty much a done deal that she was to marry her childhood love/friend, and the imperial family will move as always. However, during her time at University, she met her now husband and they both made the announcement that they were going to be getting married instead, and if you're familiar with royal families and breaking tradition, then yeah. There is a lot more to be said about it, and I'll reference some pieces as I go on, but I encourage you to read up it yourself!

Natal Chart

Mako, formerly known as 'Princess Mako of Akishino', was born on October 23rd 1991. Making her a Libra Sun, Taurus Moon, and Leo Rising!

There is a lot to look at within her chart but I'll try and keep it short. Her chart ruler being Libra in the third house points to both elegance but also keeping up appearances. By that I mean communication, family ties, fairness, governing over close community and making sure everyone is cared for, the energy of overseeing with a gentle fist. Her sun is at a critical degree, teetering between one house and the other -- there will be some leakage from the fourth here. However at the same time, there's a heaviness that you have to make sure everyone likes you -- or at least sees your best side most of the time. Always saying the right thing. Her moon being in Taurus would usually help balance the struggle there, but it's opposing her Sun. Her Taurus moon sitting in the tenth is going to tell everyone that she's always gentle, generous, motherly, stable, reliable -- like the perfect archetype since the moon is exalted here. So what does that really mean for her:

It's slightly suffocating in a way. In private, she can probably work through these issues and come to a solution. In public there is a lot of give and not much take. Long time followers know how I feel about Libra. So you have moon in a sign that is pleasant but it also doesn't put up with much. Then you have her ego in a sign that will be diplomatic but it's also Air, Cardinal, and Masculine. If they want to tell you something they will, and the signs that influence that are usually Fire signs, Scorpio, and maybe Gemini. Guess what she has? Scorpio Stellium. Her Sun conjuncts her Mars, and that Mars opposes her Moon as well. So her ego works well with her ethic and if she gets a little heated, they're friends. Both of those elements are not too compatible with how she works with her emotions or that landscape. There can be frustrations with the ego not getting the emotional needs in order, and not properly handling their feelings -- but I'd say it's more like containing everything because we also have a Moon square Saturn which we'll touch later. But that gives us a??!!! T-SQUARE!! THAT'S RIGHT!! This causes a lot of friction and emotional bubbling. We have a tenth Moon going against that cluster of aggression within the fourth, and then the T-Square. This can always point to struggles or issues while growing up but I'm not going to get into that since it seems personal and it was hinted at anyway.

A T-Square is when you have two planets opposing each other, and both of those planets will square another. If you head back to the chart and look at Moon, Mars, and Saturn: you'll notice it's making a tiny little red triangle. That's your T-Square.

I'm going to end her natal section with two more things. Her Scorpio influence along with an earth moon and Libra Sun? Yes there was a struggle growing up, but it was more like struggling for control over herself and if that struggle was worth the outcome. Both these elements are very protective over themselves but they don't like sacrificing those that they care for, and I don't doubt that she still loves or holds a special place for her family. Her Virgo Venus adds another layer to such a level of dutifulness, care, love, and sincerity that even if she wasn't born into this family, I think she'd naturally just hold that air to her.

Seventh House

So everyone usually points to Aqua in the seventh as finding someone who is unusual a little quirky a little Out There, but her husband is just some cool guy who seems really sweet tbh. So now we have to remember the context, and of course all the headlines that popped up and like only recently disappeared once people moved on:

Aquarius will not throw caution to the wind for no reason. It looks at what's in place and sees what needs to go, and what can stay. If something is no longer working for it, then it gets trashed. Now, her Saturn Squares her Moon & Mars yes, but it also Squares her Sun. A ton of restriction and like. Rules when it comes to affection, love, or even expression. Right now they're living a happy life doing what they both want, and I'm super happy for them. No, Kei isn't some white dude from California, but he was more than enough to absolutely shake up a lot of things within the family and Japan itself. The brightest and kindest of all, I'd say. Extremely friendly. She brought everyone's spirits up and took great care of them. Sana might've usually been the first one to notice when someone was feeling low or was going through a hard time, and immediately offered a helping hand. She was also very grounded, responsible and reliable. Completed all of her tasks without fail, but didn't make them her whole focus. She still needed to connect with others on a personal level, and to feel like, even though she was in a competitive environment, there was still love and care around her. I believe she had the tendency to romanticize everything and purposely avoided thinking about the negatives. Still, she knew herself very well already, and was realistic with her expectations and capacity to handle things.

A free-spirit; very fun and outgoing. She could've had trouble following the rules, but I don't see her breaking them on purpose. It's not that she wanted to be friends with everyone, but she was genuinely curious to get to know them, where they came from and how they ended up there. Additionally, because she was always quite easy-going, she was the ideal person to resolve conflicts. It was very hard to get on her nerves, so she could perfectly get herself in the middle of an argument without being affected by it.

Quite popular; always in the spotlight. Mina was very proud of her skills and achievements, and didn't shy away from showing them off. Not that she wanted attention, but she didn't see the point in hiding them if she was trying to make a career out of them. She could've also been some kind of team leader; often guiding the others and helping them find motivation. I see her being the first one to arrive in the morning; the first one to talk to the staff/teachers/etc and ask all of the important questions, to then inform the other trainees. Mina was one of the most future oriented people, too; always looking ahead and making the necessary moves for things to come to fruition. Also due to this, she wasn't one to dwell on disagreements or any kind of hurt - instead, she chose to keep walking towards new and brighter experiences and saw all of these more negative occurrences as a necessary part of the journey.

⭒ Dahyun:

Dahyun was always that one person who seemed to have their head in the clouds. Always thinking of something else; always distracted. Timing and schedules might've also been troublesome for her because of this side of her personality - she either often showed up late to things or let deadlines pass by accident. I don't see her enjoying having to follow a timetable strictly. Regardless, she was a very good influence on others, since she always brought lots of excitement and joy along with her. She made people feel at ease, even though the connections might've not been super intimate. They always felt like she had good intentions towards them and wouldn't cause them trouble to get ahead. Also, I don't feel like she had a definite career path in mind, but rather just wanted to be an entertainer and try many different things along the way.

⭒ Chaeyoung:

A problem solver; very smart. She was very good at organizing things and giving people solutions to their problems. However, while she had no trouble helping others, she rarely helped herself. Chaeyoung is another one who, like Momo, gave far too much and had weak boundaries. She'd rather work herself to the bone than let her efforts be ignored. Until they said to her face that it was good enough, she wouldn't stop pushing for that recognition. Also, she was quite outspoken - even to a fault, I'd say. She was one to jump into conclusions and say things without knowing all of the facts, which led her to often make a fool of herself when she didn't need to. On the other hand, while she wasn't often a super active or bold individual, everyone valued her presence and contribution to the team. In that sense, since she could easily adapt to all of their personalities, she was able to provide them with the kind of comfort and care they each needed. Really, she was up for anything and never made a fuss. Patient and compassionate; the one that listened to their problems and gave them advice; extremely understanding and affectionate.

Okay am I actually deranged or does Morrissey's cover of Moon River just speak Marrissey? Yes I know Morrissey did not write the lyrics, he only added some, but then again, he wouldn't cover a song if its lyrics didn't resonate with him. Like please just have a look and hear me out. I'm skipping the first verse cause it's not very specific in terms of Marrissey, but the following ones are really interesting.

Oh, dream maker - Johnny and Moz meeting, dreaming together and Johnny helping Morrissey's dreams come true.

You heartbreaker - this can be about Morrissey meeting Angie and learning to live with the thought that the boy he fell in love with is taken. I don't think this has to do with the breakup of the Smiths, because the song generally suits the beginning of their relationship more.

Wherever you're going/I'm going your way - this reminds me of a moment in Morrissey's interview where he says: "It got to the stage where I was so impressed and infatuated, that even if he couldn’t play, it really didn’t matter…" That's the point where he stops following Johnny just for his musical dreams and instead wants to be with him, wherever he goes and whatever he does. In other words, "everything depends upon how near you stand to me".

Two drifters/Off to see the world - pretty self-explanatory, the start of their career, tours and such.

I'm not so sure the world/Deserves us - that's the lyric that was changed by Morrissey. We're after/The same rainbow's end - self-explanatory too, meeting a person whose dreams and ambitions align with yours completely and setting off to fulfill them together.

How come it's just around the bend?/It's always just around the bend? - another change of original lyrics, which are "Waiting ‘round the bend/my huckleberry friend,/Moon River and me". Morrissey could never have all of it, and, although the Smiths were successful, they were never as successful as he envisioned and felt them worthy to be. Issues with the label, no airplay, those are the things that irked him and enraged him. They should be bigger, but they can't be, and it's not their fault. Can also be interpreted as a comment on their relationship with Johnny, all of those almost moments that happened, the thinnest barrier between friends and lovers never being broken. And once more, reminds of Hand in glove - "The good life is out there somewhere".

And just to finish this nicely, have a quote from Morrissey himself about this song, which I discovered only after writing all this mess and deciding to turn to some more reliable sources than my own mind: "The fulfilment promised in the song is always in the future, so it has this never-finding, ever-reaching feel. A friend of mine broke up with his girlfriend of over a year, and when he told me, I wasn't that surprised. But I was surprised that I wasn't surprised. Come to think of it, even though I knew little about their relationship, I'd been expecting this ever since a few months ago someone said "He's really busy nowadays, spending most of his time with his girlfriend," and I was circumstantially aware that they weren't spending all that time together having fun or something.

I guess I'm noticing a pattern. I've heard a woman explain it as "I love being a mother to others, so I always ended up in relationships where I acted as my boyfriend's mom, and was dissatisfied with those relationships until I realized what was going on, and now I intentionally keep separate my dating and my acting as a mother to people in need." By the way, I'm strongly of the opinion that most dating trends are not gendered even if they get expressed in a gendered way, and I and my friend (from paragraph 1) have both found ourselves, as men, in that mother role.

I think a certain kind of person — which includes me and my friend — loves caring for others, and tends to find themselves in a relationship that heavily revolves around caring for the other person, and for a while nothing seems wrong because "they have a lot of needs, and I enjoy caring for others" until they ask themselves — as a therapist asked me — "Do you have any reason you particularly enjoy caring for your girlfriend more than you would enjoy caring for anyone else?" — and realize the answer is no.

This is hard for me to grapple with because I think caring for your spouse when they are in need — more in need than you — is core, not just incidental, to marriage. So if this is supposed to happen in marriage, and one ought to stick with their spouse in it (and most do), why do dating relationships I've seen with that element so reliably fail? I think there are at least a couple things going on.

I don't think this is just a "have you made a lifelong commitment" thing, as if you're "stuck with this person," although the commitment does matter. I think the problem with dating relationships that start with this dynamic is that their whole history has been one of one person caring for the needs of the other, and they don't have any foundation of when they were equally non-needy that helps breed mutual respect which I think is crucial when things in a relationship get hard.

I think the partner with less needs tends struggle with assertiveness/boundary issues. As I was thinking a few months ago, "I doubt my friend is spending that much time with her because he actually wants to." I think it's a red flag when any relationship causes someone to spend significantly less time with their friends/family/community, even if the partner isn't drawing them away on purpose. I wonder if my friend's now ex would actually do better with a man who doesn't spend so much time caring for her from the beginning and really knows how to set boundaries appropriate to the stage of a relationship. Maybe such a man would respect her more. (If it sounds like I just rediscovered the concept of codependence — fine, maybe I have)
