I love the idea of it being maybe a couple of days after the Captain has died, and he has gotten over the intense initial shock of being dead and the subsequent freak out that follows it, and he has reverted back to just being ‘the Captain’ and trying to make some order of his existence and keep himself busy, and presenting himself to the other ghosts as a ranking officer and their leader, and he has a little speech, and one of the ghosts makes a remark about some weird or wacky thing that they did or do, or suggests something unusual, and Cap is immediately horrified and just exclaims ‘but that’s not proper behaviour!’, and all the other ghosts just scoff a bit or kind of ignore him, but Fanny gives an approving noise and says ‘quite right, Captain!’, and basically them just becoming quite close quite quickly due to their love of rules and order and ‘proper’ behaviour.
Just Fanny finally finding another ghost who understands her and agrees with her and her constant adherence to the strict rules she was forced to follow when she was alive, and the Captain finding in Fanny a person who understands and appreciates his need to maintain his status as Captain and find a sense of order within the madness.

Thank you so much for the ask and for playing along with this ask meme! (I am a million kinds of sorry for how long my response has taken). This one is from a Mermaid!Jon, Marine Biologist!Sansa AU that I haven't published yet!
“Is she going to be alright?” the fire was large- larger than any Jon had ever seen- he could feel the heat on his scales even from this distance. “I think so.” Rhaenys murmured, pressing her wrist to the girl’s forehead. “She’s a tough one- I can tell.” he eyes softened as they fell on Jon. “Who is she?” He stared at her sleeping face, ignoring the way his tail had begun to dry and feel uncomfortably tight as he put off going back into the grotto's pool. “A scientist, I think.” he told his sister. “She arrived a few moons ago with a group of others- they wear the equipment that lets them breathe in the water.” “SCUBA gear.” Rhae nodded. Her lips curled up into a secretive smile. “What’s her name?” “I-“ Jon blinked. “I don’t know.” he admitted, embarrassed. “We’ll have to ask her when she wakes up.” Rhae murmured, stroking back the girl’s hair. Jon took her hand where it had fallen from the blanket, holding it in his own. “You can still go back, you know.” He didn’t respond. her skin was getting warmer as he held onto her hand. It was soft- smooth in a different way than his own scales. “Can I?” he finally asked, looking up at his sister. “You can.” She promised him, gently, walking over to press a kiss to his forehead. “I’ll tell father that I was the one who rescued her, and if she saw one of us, I’ll tell him it was me. You won’t be blamed.” “But-“ Jon shook his head. “But what?” his sister asked, perching next to the girl. “But then I won’t get to learn her name.” he said, rather pathetically.
for every “🌹” received in my inbox i’ll post one random sentence of a random WIP i’m currently writing

The other day i had a dream that i am remembering just now as i am trying to fall asleep and i am already turning it into something that could be a novella of sorts and it even has a plot.
The dream was set somewhere in the Old West and Main Guy was a gunslinger/bounty hunter who was also no perfectly law abiding man and he caught and beat up two targets to haul them to the next sherriff's office but there was also a Main Gal who was on his tracks for unknown reasons and - the dream's details are foggy here - she semi-partnered up with him to safely drag the other two guys to where they would be paid and in the time it took them to get to the destination he saved her life so ultimately when she had cashed *him* in, she did a Blondie-and-Tuco-style "rescue" by sniping the rope he was about to be hanged with and then they rode off into the sunset (after splitting the money 50/50, which is Not very Blondie-And-Tuco style)
So now as my falling-asleep entertainment, I have borrowed from all my beloved tropes and spaghetti Western movies (and the Jeff Bridges version of True Grit because Fuck John Wayne)
Main Girl is now the daughter of some shady asshole who abandoned her family and thus to a life of poverty but himself got rich by murder and theft somewhere in the gold mines of either California or Alaska (i still need to decide). And Main Girl, now that her brothers have moved on and her ma has died of grief and poverty-induced-illness (tuberculosis maybe. Or any other infection, gonna be vague on the details), MGirl has found out about a hefty bounty on daddy dear's head. She gets on her way to find him and cash him in (and get her sweet sweet revenge) but knows she can't do it alone so she teams up True-Grit style with The Guy, who is still a bounty hunter in this scenario, bringing the useful fact that she knows how daddy must look. It's been 10 - 15 years, but she also knows his voice, so useful to have aye?
They set out to track across the continent up north/to the west, start to bond, and become one helluva team with their complementing skills.
Needless to say, I already have a few drawings in mind because I *exactly* know what they look like :D

obsessed w the choice to have reinhard & hilda hook up for the first time in the context of. reinhard is having a breakdown over his guilt at the death of his boy best friend like. very heterosexual of him, I'm sure
#also like. it is so funny to me that people ship this as like. them being In Love and fluffy etc etc like. the vibes are extremely Not That#they fuck bc he's having a breakdown. she leaves before he wakes up and looks terrified when he comes to see her#he gave her a military position and wanted to make her prime minister and every time she correctly disagrees with him he hates her for it#she's the closest thing he has to a friend but he can't forgive her for not being kircheis so he marries her instead#he brings flowers bc it's what mittermeyer did bc he's following a script bc he doesn't know how to do any of this#(this being. heterosexuality. having any kind of normal relationships with people. functioning in society)#she canonically doesn't feel like she understands how to be a woman#oh my god are they the 'he's gay she's a lesbian their marriage will change your perception of love' couple#wait no also. his reason for proposing. jesus christ his entire concept of gender & relationships is So shaped by what happened to annerose#he feels obligated to marry her now but also. as if marrying her isn't just another way of trapping her into that kind of role#like she's can't be ur official military advisor or ur prime minister. she has to be Your Wife. and i cannot see her being happy w that#like it would get her what she wants (advancement for her family) but oh my god at what cost#sorry these tags are just. my running commentary of the ep now anyway losing it at reinhard saying “can kircheis forgive me for marrying”#ok i was gonna make fun of him being like “he never got to marry before he died :/” like. i really don't think that was a priority for him#but i do also think given the opportunity he would've married annerose. mediated desire and all that#dreaming.txt#e watches logh

You know I used to beat myself up a bit for not reading/studying enough, and especially for wasting time during my teenage years because I stopped reading/trying and now have to catch up when it no longer matters or can do any good.
But I’m slowly realising of late that there are a lot of books I’m glad I never read before I was ready to seek them out myself. Currently reading “Wuthering Heights” and I am so so glad I didn’t read that book in high school- I would have wildly misinterpreted the premise (even if I liked it), and that would have been a great disservice to the author and the book itself. Now I can really try to understand it on a different level and I think I will only grow to appreciate it more in time.
#Also- I'm not quite finished it so I might be wrong in this but don't think so- having read it myself#I feel like social media and popular culture (or at least the opinions I have heard personally) do a real disservice to Emily Bronte#She often gets painted as if she were romanticising Cathy and Heathcliff's relationship for some bizarre reason#The narrator may be an unreliable one but the whole tone of the book shows that there are sooo many problems with their relationship#I won't say Emily Bronte CONDEMNS the relationship- I doubt she would do anything so stuffy and Victorian#But she's very clear about showing us how toxic their relationship was (and Heathcliff's character  in particular)#But also how it stems from longstanding childhood abuse and neglect as well as issues of class and gender#And how nobody in the book no matter how nice can really claim to be exempt from blame on some level#As they all participate in a society that treats children as property and turns a blind eye to abuse#Or at the very least washes its hands saying 'well it's sad but that's the law and it's really the parent/master's problem'#And that abuse and neglect turns Heathcliff into a genuinely abysmal and horrifying person#Cathy's not in the same league but she's still a rather unpleasant person in the grand scheme of things#That being said! They are both sympathetic in different ways even as adults#They have some good qualities even under all that horror and Cathy in the end really does cut a pitiful figure#Let her breathe in the open air#Also like I think Bronte gives us a good idea of how things wouldn't necessarily be solved if Heathcliff and Cathy had stayed together#The effects of their childhood traumas have shaped them#Heathcliff sees anyone who isn't absolutely for him as being against him and would expect Cathy not just to be loyal but utterly partisan#Cathy must have her way and I don't think she would take kindly to Heathcliff disagreeing with her idea of what was best for them#Maybe I've just been reading the wrong media but because of its popular image I went into this book expecting to have to struggle through#some bizarre romanticisation of a toxic relationship where the reader is expected to totally fall in love with Heathcliff and excuse him#Or where Cathy is some kind of author's self-insert or the twentieth-century stereotype of how All Women Are Repressed And Only Want Sex#How lucky I am that a) that's really really not the case and b) that I am reading it at an age where I won't misinterpret it#Or allow my own judgement of the book and its merits to be clouded by some English teacher's Accepted Intepretation of Literature#Not that other people's interpretations haven't been absolutely fascinating and helpful#The pop culture view I was given was definitely based on only one particular type of interpretation of the novel#Also why do so many film/tv adaptations of the book seem to leave out the second bit of the story with the children etc?#I didn't even know that it isn't set in the Victorian era but the late eighteenth century! (Even if Victorian mores are important)#And god I love an old Yorkshire farmhouse with a cavernous kitchen and a date on the door lintel and a strange family history#reading log

20. Have your ocs helped you in self discovery? How?
Pride OC Asks
I'm racking my brain, but I feel like it's the opposite, really? Once I realized that I'm attracted to more than just men... suddenly almost all my new (and old) OCs were bi/pan, lmao! The more I learn about a condition I have called PCOS (many afab people struggle with it :( ) and try to become more comfortable with my own body, and the fact that my body produces too much testosterone bc of PCOS... the more I consider OCs that are genderfluid, or non-binary, as a way to explore outside of my comfort zone and norms, and try on new identities/pronouns and see how it feels, while also writing a heckuva story... though I haven't gotten to actually RP those toons yet, sadly, I guess they would indeed be helping me to better explore and understand who I am and what feels right for me. It's a safe and non-threatening way to be a new person, and see how it feels, and I know it has helped many an egg crack, so I love what RP can do for people!
