Well, it might not be the most magical story, but they both look back on it fondly. Pico had to care for himself from a very young age after... well, that's not what I'm here to talk about. He roamed around and stole food and supplies, whatever he needed eventually ending up in his hands. He learned to sneak around and be very careful, and to be wary of the blindspot cause by his sliced eye. At the age of 7, Darnell Hook had been invited to compete in a Wizarding competition, and was very confident considering he was top of his class. While Darnell was getting ready, Pico saw an opportunity to dig through the mage's bag for valuables that he could sell or use. He got clumsy however, and Darnell caught him in the act. Pico didn't have anywhere to run, and prepared for the harsh punishment that he was used to getting from guards and law enforcers. However, as Darnell was about to call for his parents, he couldn't help but feel bad for the disheveled boy, who clearly wasn't being properly cared for. So, instead, he offered to let Pico stay and watch the show, and shared his lunch with the ginger kid. Pico was weary, expecting this to be a trick, but he couldn't refuse the promise of food after not eating for a few days. They quickly became friends, and Darnell took Pico to his home. His parents were a bit concerned, but once they knew it was safe, they treated him as their own. Pico got to know Darnell's parents and finally felt that he had found a home. He stayed with them for a few weeks, but despite all the time he spent with them, he just couldn't fully trust the Hook family. He snuck out one night without a word, and disappeared for many months. Darnell was heartbroken, but he did his best to focus on his studies and not dwell on his lost friend. One day, Pico came back for a visit after finding himself unable to stop thinking about Darnell. He'd never had a proper friend before, and it was too wonderful for him to let go. Darnell accepted him with open arms and many tears, and although Pico never stayed for long, he regularly visited the family. As the young theif and mage grew, they got closer and closer. Darnell taught Pico how to read properly and do a bit of math, and Pico showed Darnell how to defend himself in return. They both quickly caught on to their teachings and became very skilled at them. Every time he visited Pico would bring gifts (although they were always stolen) and gave them to the family who had given him so much. In return, Darnell would give Pico books after discovering his love for reading, and they would gush together over their favorite series. Over time, as they matured, Pico discovered new feelings for the mage. While he denied them at first, they grew too strong to resist, and he confessed when they were both 16. Darnell happily accepted his feelings, and although they've had to keep their relationship a secret from anyone outside the family, they are practically inseparable.

I do wonder, sometimes... how old actually is Venti, in terms of years of life experienced?

Because we know that he’s lived for over 2,600 years (at least) – but we also know he spent a lot, if not most of that time sleeping. He slept for around 500 years after Dvalin was poisoned, he slept for a long time before seeing the aristocracy had taken over Mondstadt during Venessa’s time, and we don’t even know how long that was! Apart from the fact that it certainly was a long time, because the last time he’d been present, Mondstadt not only wasn’t like that, but there seemed to be no indication that something like that could happen!

Is he semi-conscious during his sleep? Do years of sleep count towards life experienced – does 500 years of sleep make you mentally 500 years older, or not? How much of his life was spent sleeping? We know he hangs around from time to time – he’s familiar with the other Archons, especially Zhongli, so presumably he’s been awake enough to hang out with them enough to know them well; he seems to be familiar with Mondstadt’s traditions from a participant’s perspective, and has visited Mondstadt after its founding (in the manga, he remarks that the tower where people threw the Ludi Harpastum off wasn’t there last time he visited); there was that whole instance with Xiao and the flute, and of course he may have spent a while founding Mondsdadt, but... how much time, in comparison to his actual age, has he experienced, and how much has he lost?

And, if we’re delving back to before Venti was Venti, and was still a wisp of wind... how long were the Thousand Winds around? But do you even count life experienced when you’re not fully a being, when you’re just one part of a thousand wholes – does that count as life lived, or not? How long ago did he break away from that, becoming a little wind sprite, bringing seeds of hope and change for the better?

Because depending on your perspective on all this, he could have actually experienced life for maybe 150 years to over 5,000 (depending on how long the Thousand Winds have been around, so possibly much longer), and that’s... a very. big difference.

I've been messing with this all day, and it looks like this combination of settings will allow exported PNGs to maintain their colors perfectly. To you. So far both Discord and Toyhouse still only display desaturated images and I cannot for the life of me figure out why
