You and Orter are now walking through the hall of the building because you're following him to god knows where. Until you reach a private area where you two could talk.

im gonna use this as a chance to explain putt putt branch au a lil :3c

it started with me going "what if, following this comic, clay finds out branch was also stranded away from the village" so i was thinking about like how would that work out w everything plot wise?

clay and branch help viva establish the putt putt trolls! branch is still gray from losing his grandma but clay is helping him! they travel a while and find the golf course, and viva immediately takes charge of the group. clay is a little distracted by figuring out what's wrong with his brother, but ends up taking charge of the boring side of the operation when he sees viva struggling.

branch eventually opens up and tells him about what happened to their grandma, blaming himself for both that and his brothers leaving. clay insists that it isn't his fault in the slightest. branch asks if they're ever gonna see their brothers again, and clay (kinda hesitantly) promises they'll look for them once it's safe to. in the meantime, clay convinces branch to help him help viva run the place and build up their new society!

back in troll village and the tree, floyd comes back a while after the escape to find the tree dead and the village in ruins and abandoned. after exploring a little he finds branch's glasses in their old pod and thinks he left him to die, which causes him to go gray. he spends a little while there and as he's about to leave, he meets none other than cloud guy, who (very annoyingly) shows him through the tunnels and towards the new village

he gets there and figures out branch isn't there, which only enforces his idea that he died, as well as his grandma being missing. floyd decides to stay and build branch's bunker for him, except he doesn't have the plans so he has to wing it. he is kinda left alone due to being gray and becomes the local sad boy recluse, avoiding parties and being social in general due to his grief and self inflicted shame.

after a few months, a young poppy starts following him around and trying to befriend him. he doesn't really respond but he doesn't chase her off, allowing her to do what she wants. it takes a whiiiiile, but he slowly warms up to her, though he isn't about to drop his problems on a child. eventually, she reveals she found something in the tunnels during the escape and shows him; turns out it's branch's bunker plans, which makes floyd emotional. the two end up in a sorta older brother-younger sister friendship by the first movie!

when movie one happens, poppy runs to him for help when the chef captures her friends. floyd, of course, is immediately on board, not wanting anyone else to die because of the bergens. it kinda plays out similar to canon, with floyd finally admitting he feels responsible for losing branch. she helps him figure out he couldn't have known, and in turn he helps her when creek betrays them all, finally gaining some of his colors back

the second and third movies are pretty rough in my brain atm tbh aksdhjkhdkfh i do know that floyd gets captured during the second movie, leading to the third being jd receiving a forged letter and going to poppy for help and them setting off to gather up his brothers since they're the best chance they have at the family harmony. when they find clay they also find branch, and branch is a little sore about floyd seeing poppy as a sister when he was out there waiting for him, but they talk it out after everything!!!

Not Lost Boys specific, but on the topic of vampire media mentioning how vampires would want to capture and treat humans like cattle or livestock... Im always curious about what exactly they mean by that. I don't mean to be judging management practices but like:

"oh we'll capture them and constantly drain their blood!" Okay so like you're gonna have to be taking care of them, feeding them, providing them enrichment, having group housing, etc.

"why not keep them in cages and just feed on them-" well because that doesn't work long term. You'd be going through almost as many humans as you would be hunting wild ones. The humans would become malnourished and with the lack of proper vitamins and minerals and activities they'll just die anyway.

I'm just saying, if you're looking to "treat humans like cattle/livestock" you're actually going to have to take care of them as like a full time job. Like being a human farmer would take so much effort and work to actually obtain the goal they're looking for that it would be ultimately cheaper and less time consuming to just hunt humans as wild humans. Humans are already domesticated so you won't need to selectively breed a new genetic line, but humans also are capable of thinking of the future and figuring out puzzles. To get the best quantity and quality out of a human you'd have to be feeding them good food, be able to provide good housing, and plenty of enrichment otherwise they won't survive.

I feel like delving deeper into this rabbit hole but I'll leave it at this for now.

ok im so sorry for taking this long to answer this but my braincells always stop working when it comes to dai li lu ten au for some reason. like i quite literally just figured out how to put what lu tens issue is in a simple sentence Today and ive had this au for months. please forgive me.

TO BE HONEST. jiro was concerned about why lu ten was so stiff about going to bss, but he thought it was just like... over family drama. because lu ten never let his complicated feelings about the war leave the pages of his journal. not even to jiro, who lu ten knew probably wouldn't have cared (because jiro casually breaks at least 10 laws per day at minimum. he makes it a daily goal for himself) anyway.

but jiro didn't even consider the idea that lu ten would die at bss? cus like. lu ten passed his officer classes with flying colors, so he was fit to lead a group of men on the battlefield. he knew all the do's and do not's of war strategy. he was the youngest lightning bender in fire nation history at the time (until azula ofc). but. he was also a prince. so jiro was (correctly) under the impression that iroh wouldn't let lu ten even see the real heat of the battle. he was thinking that lu ten was just being sent there last minute so he could say he was there at least when iroh succeeded.

when the news about lu ten reaches the capital on top of the news of irohs retreat, jiro doesnt immediately believe it. cus he just bid lu ten goodbye like lu ten was leaving for an 8am meeting that he was dreading. like a tender just go get it over with real quick and then come on home, we can go back to bed for the rest of the day and then i'll take you out for dinner. there's national mourning, then firelord azulon dies and ozai is crowned and it's like jiro's world has a muted sheet thrown over it. it takes iroh's army coming home for it to sink in fully.

and jiro mourns kinda like how a flower quietly wilts overnight? he didnt throw a fit or demand answers or whatever. he just pulled himself away from politics and just focused on work. but he keeps that place at his side that lu ten filled for the brightest year of jiro's life open because jiro can't make himself act like it never happened either. so the second chair by jiro's balcony table stays, the hair ribbon pile lu ten forgot on the nightstand stays, the extra printed pelt blanket on his bed that only lu ten used (because he hated sharing blankets) stays.

an orphan sold to a mercenary group called the omens, active in goseong. when sion was nineteen, their leader / sion's father figure essentially let the omens be bought out by the royal family, which many were not happy about. he lost his life and sion barely escaped.

from then onwards, she wandered from place to place, trying out several professions and keeping herself afloat by bounty hunting and stealing.

eventually returned to goseong and started working as a noble's informant. (that's the nicer way of putting it, at least.) two years ago, they got caught meddling in political affairs and sion had to flee goseong once more. (her former employer is a wanted connection btw!)

now accused of stealing the mad regent's crown and she's really upset about it because 1) her life is hard enough as it is 2) she's had it up to here with the mad regent 3) if she was the thief, she'd have done a better job. (no offense @ the wildcard, ily.)

not very stoked to be stuck in yeonghae of all places, mainly because the whole sanctuary thing feels too good to be true + she's used to big cities like goseong.

pretty cold and distant, but she's rather skilled at pretending to be someone she's not, both in appearance and personality. (probably how she managed to stay hidden so far despite being a wanted criminal.)

has a day job as a shipwright; people tend to mind their business there and there's always lots of merchants around to steal from.

surprisingly self-aware and takes responsibility for her life choices. someone could hit her with the "not your fault you were sold into a life of crime" and then she'd be like "i could've left and chosen a different path but i didn't. now what?"

but she'd be lying if she said she doesn't think about leaving it all behind, settling down and starting a normal life somewhere. old habits die hard, though, especially in desperate times like these. (the desperation to be good but not knowing how to do so is one of my favorite tropes, sue me!)
