Magic lessons (MC & Jacob)

Summary: A 12-years-old Jacob Allen has just returned from his first year at Hogwarts and very excited, he can’t wait to tell and teach everything he has learned and seen to his 6-years-old sister Maria. (Based on one of the memories you can choose for the patronus)

[Sorry if my english isn’t perfect]

“I'll think about the day my brother returned home from his first year at Hogwarts. He was very excited to show me what he learned and tried to teach me all the spells he could remember. I couldn’t throw them, of course, but I still had fun.”

Little Maria was impatient. The train had just arrived at platform 9 ¾ and the students were starting to get off of it. Maria stood on tiptoe trying to see her brother, who had just finished his first year, at the Ravenclaw house. But there were a lot of people on the platform and practically everyone was taller than her. He started to take small little leaps impatiently

“Jacob!” Her mother saw him first waving at him to see them

Then, Maria put on tiptoe all she could, but, yet, she can’t see it until her brother was only a couple of meters away from them.

“Jacob!” She exclaimed, running to him and throwing herself into his arms, which he opened to receive her. “I've missed you so much!” She added as her brother lifted her off the floor

"Me too, Pip" Jacob said, laying her down on the floor again and twirling her blond hair.

"Don’t call me that!" Maria said, shaking her head to remove her brother's hand, but she was smiling. His brother always called her that.

"Ok, ok, I don’t call you that again" Jacob said, laughing.

His mother also gave Jacob a welcoming hug and indicated that it was time to go home. The small family of three lived not far from the Leaky Cauldron, in a three-room apartment. The three of them lived alone, since the mother had separated from her father two years before.

When they got home, his mother went to the kitchen to start preparing dinner, while Jacob and Maria went to the eldest's room. Jacob left his trunk by his bed while the little girl kept asking him questions about Hogwarts. Jacob sat on his bed watching his sister smiling

"Maria." He cover his mouth with one hand. "If you don’t shut up, I can’t tell you anything."

"Well, I'm already shut up," Maria said, pushing her brother's hand away. “But how is it? How is it?”

Jacob laughed, and began to explain how big the castle was, the 147 stairs it had, the huge gardens ... Maria listened to everything amazed, with her eyes shining.

“Aaaaaaah!” Maria shouted excitedly. “I also want to go”

"You still have a few years left," Jacob said. “And, besides, now it's holidays”

“But I want to learn magic!” Maria said

“If you want, I can teach you” said Jacob

“Seriously?” Maria said

"Sure," said his brother. He got up from his bed and picked up two toy wands from one of the drawers on his nightstand. He knelt at his sister's height and gave her one. “Do you want to learn Lumos, the wand-lighting charm?”

Little Maria nodded energetically.

"Well, raise the wand." He lifted his at the same time as she did. “Make this movement. As an A but without the middle line, and say Lumos.”

“Lumos” exclaimed Maria doing the movement as her brother had said. Of course, nothing happened, but the little girl laughed equally. “How cool! Teach me another!”

“Okay, what do you think now of an charm with which you can open any door?” Jacob said

“Anyone?” Maria said

"Anyone" Jacob said. “Look at me and do the same movement as me”

Maria imitated her brother in that circular movement with a straight line through the circle

“And now say Alohomora"

“Alohomora!” The girl exclaimed

Thus, both brothers spent a pleasant time. Jacob took out his spell book from his trunk so he wouldn’t forget any. Well, and because his little sister, despite not being able to do the spells really, each time asked to know more and more, and that book, despite being only for first year, between enchantments, transformations and defense spells, had spells to bore.

Neither of them noticed the moment when her mother appeared at the door of the room, and she was leaning against the door frame watching them with a tender smile.

“Do you want to play duel now?” Asked Jacob then

“Yes yes!” Said the little girl. “I will beat you! Alohomora!” He touched the tip of his toy wand to his brother's chest

“Maria, you can’t use Alohomora in a duel” said Jacob

“And why not?” Maria said

“Because it's not for duels, I've already told you that it serves to open doors” Jacob said

“But I want to use it!” Maya said. “I like it! I can use it, right mom?

The woman was surprised at that. He didn’t know that his daughter had noticed that she was there. She had seen her children so focused on her game, that she believed neither of them had seen her. He laughed lightly before approaching his children and crouching next to them

“Of course, honey” She answered with a smile

“You see?” Maria said to Jacob with a smile

“But, mom! Alohomora is not for the duels” Jacob protested

“Jacob, come on, let your sister use the spell she wants, okay?” his mother said. “But you are going to have to leave the duel for later, because now dinner is ready”

Jacob nodded, letting out a resigned sigh, and left the toy wand on his bed. However, little Maria ran out of the room still with the wand in her hand. Jacob laughed a little when he saw her. The boy loved his younger sister very much and they were very close in spite of the six years of age difference. He had to admit that he had missed her so much in her first year at Hogwarts and that it would be the same in the following years. They were only going to be able to get together for a year at school, and it was hard to believe that in the next 12 years, they were only going to being together on holidays between their own years at Hogwarts and hers.
