I know most of the people who follow me probably don’t play overwatch but I have a sincere question: Knowing nothing about him, is he hot?
Tumblr media
I genuinely want to know because if you hear his voice and know his character it’s very understandable why people find him attractive, but I wonder if his appearance alone is enough for people to find him hot
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Humanized version for the boring people/ by @flycloud on twitter . Also, whenever he’s drawn as a human 95% of the time artists make him black, which makes sense if you play overwatch/know it’s story (also he’s fully robot, like he’s not a human who by some means was shoved into a robot body, so everyone universally decided he looks like this). If you do know the story, you know that that’s the only way to portray him that really makes any sense (a really simplified way of putting it is that he’s like the Malcom X of Omnics (robots)).

ive seen get out the movie now... goddamn
#spoilers for the movie in the tags bc u should watch it urself#it was very different from the screenplay like more than i thought and i like the changes that were made#like fun fact rose and jeremy swap places in the climax and i love the movie version wayyyyy more#like originally it starts w rose trying to wheel him into the surgery and chris kills her first#and jeremy literally shows up to kill him 3 times. yeah i like that hes not that in the actual movie#bc in the screenplay i was like ''wtf why wont he go down why is he the main threat''#and in the movie jeremy goes to get him and hes attacked. comes back and THEN gets blugeoned#which i like better bc we get the scene where rose is trying to find her next victim andshes like cold and calm throughout the climax#which is infinitely scarier and more thematically fitting bc SHE did this to him SHE sethim up SHE is the main antagonist#idk its very different but a REALLY good change that i really really like#the one rose related change i didnt care for is that they took out the bit where she manipulates him with a fake pregnancy#tho ig i get why it was taken out. ig ppl wouldve gone ''omg he killed a pregnant woman'' and that wouldve been annoying#idk if youve seen the movie i recommend reading the screenplay the changes are really fascinating#also the gore didnt scare me as much as i thought it would. i think i psyched myself out too much#+ its more descriptive in the screenplay. huh. maybe i CAN handle breaking bad. just if i read all the scripts beforehand#if anything like that is possible tho idk#echoed voice

Will DIE so he doesn’t lose you
Wanted to state that first, I mean he’d go full corruption on the city and have his power overwhelm him if it means you’re safe
Especially now, since your death would be caused by him (not his fault, but would think it was)
Things also depend on if he’s already lost the flags or not
If he hasn’t?
Well he isn’t fully aware of the threat
He also isn’t aware of the pain
But if they’ve passed…
He knows how quickly the king of assassins will strike
And with the pain of losing his only friends all at once, he’s like a guard dog.
And if Verlaine is a bitch and sends his own spies or small assassins?
Chuuya will OBLITERATE them
He can’t very well kill Verlaine that quickly
But, he can fight him off
And keep him off your trail
Originally found out by a threat by Verlaine
Some cryptic letter in French left on your pillow
(He broke into your house, left a note, and left, all undetected. What’s scarier?)
You couldn’t read it, so you skipped on up to your favorite person, Chuuya, and asked him to translate it (even if you can read French, the letter made absolutely no sense. Riddles and mentions of names you don’t know)
His eyes stilled, no longer moving left to right as they had when he was engaged by the writing. Their usual light tone when he was with you had disappeared.
“Chuu? What’s wrong, you look…”
“Nothing, it’s nothing. You know what, I probably left this at your house last weekend… Don’t you have school? How about I walk you?”
He loved walking with you, a great start to his day. But today’s motives were different. He needed to make sure you were safe.
“Okay! Wait… who is that?!”
It’s… well it’s Adam. Maybe he could get some practice in on explaining confusing situations with you now?
“Hello, I’m Adam. I’m for Europole-“
“Shut up!.. Sorry bout him… let’s get you to school.”
Every time you questioned who the man with you was, Chuuya changed the topic
You knew Chuuya was a mafioso, but knowing Adam would make you ask too many questions
When you finally got to school, he was annoyed
He hadn’t planned this far and didn’t know what to do for your safety
Human version of “fuck it, we ball” and goes inside the school
“Yes, I’m a new student. Chuuya… And this is my dad, Adam.”
Gets let it?!? You don’t mind, of course
“What the fuck is trigonometry?”
“You ask like I know…”
“You’re the actual student.”
“You’re the one who chose to be here.”
Adam buts in. “Trigonometry is the study of-“
When you get to science class, it’s your lucky day that you have physics
He is amazed by gravity, seeing how his ability works in a scientific way
Definitely shows off, making the whiteboard marker fly across the room
“So that’s why I can lift heavy stuff? I wonder…”
Also definitely got yelled at cause the teacher thought he threw it
Chuuya definitely tells Adam to shut up at least every other minute
When you get to literature class, hope you aren’t reading a book on the human condition
Or anything with relationships of the family kind
Quickly gets reminded of Verlaine, and remembers why he is there
Holds you hand tight
“It’s not weird, I just… my hands are cold, that’s all” “Most teenagers who hold hands are involved in romantic-“ “Shut up Adam!”
It’s finally your last class and he’s nervous
On one side, he doesn’t have to worry about you surrounded by so many others
On the other side, it’s gonna be more difficult to protect you when he just has you and Adam without the cover of a whole student body
So, he takes you to his apartment
It’s… dull
He makes Adam watch the door, and you to his bedroom
Helps with your homework to try and ease any creeping ideas in your mind that this is all suspicious
Even if he isn’t any help, like at all
Sleepover!
Overall, you’re surviving
No fucking way that he’s losing you
Not you, never you

I initially wanted my take to be accompanied by a funny haha drawing, but I am too busy rn and the brainrot is too strong.
For a long time I tried to understand WHAT makes your version of Belos far scarier than he is in the show. It was so weird but it added to the angsty atmosphere perfectly, making the situation seem more hopeless.
But! Now I have a theory. (Little disclamer: I describe the reasoning through purely subjective lenses and how I came to understand the character from the original show.)
Your Belos is far scarier because he hadn't lost anything. Caleb is right there! Alive and "well". There is no buttons to push to trigger any emotional human response. Your Belos has no tragedy that would be painful enough to make him in any way irrational.
Even the grimwalkers are created with cold calculated reason in mind. They are not the irrational impulse to get his dead brother back. Philip just can't have any possible attachement to the blond boys. He doesn't see them as the extension of Caleb and therefore cant care less if they betray him or not. Pure manipulation of the tool.
Philip wasn't alone for 4 hundred years. He had the "fellow human" by his side the whole time. And that human is also the reason for the whole ordeal. So your Philip would care less about other humans, because he doesnt have this longing for the connection. Cross him? Bam! No mercy, even if you are human.
The same goes with his relation to the human realm. Your Belos wouldnt give a shit that the world has changed. Caleb is with him and that would is enough. Again, no buttons to push!
My mind is a mess, but I hope my points are understantable.
You think my boy is scarier than canon?
Tumblr media
[IMAGE ID: Belos looking smug, saying, "You flatter me..." /End ID]
Ah! Meta discussion in my inbox! I LOVE getting to see how people react to the stuff I make and why. It's half the fun, honestly :) Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.
For my own part, I would say the tragedy that makes him irrational is his prejudiced upbringing and his stubborn adherance to it no matter what. He was taught to never question or reconsider. The beliefs he absorbed are always, always right, and those who disagree are always wrong or misled or evil.
Even when it's a fellow human. Even when it's Caleb.
What compels me about writing my version of Belos is that he's a version of the character who wants to have his cake and eat it too. Caleb is alive. Caleb is "bewitched." In his beliefs, it would be kinder to kill him. To save his soul. To return him to God.
He doesn't. Perhaps he's more hopeful than he is in canon. Perhaps he's more selfish. Perhaps he just got lucky in a fight that was never intended to end in Caleb's death.
Either way, this is a version of Belos who refuses to take the quick and "merciful" way out. He wants to adhere to his beliefs and keep his brother at the same time, even when it means that Caleb must suffer.

[ENGLISH] Interview with Devon Giehl!
Tumblr media
O Príncipe Dragão Brasil Team realized an exclusive interview with The Dragon Prince's Lead Writer and Producer, Devon Giehl! We asked about episode 8 from season 5, as well as questions by fans!
We translated the interview so more people can read about it! Here's the portuguese version.
Finnegrin was such an interesting and exciting villain! How did you guys created him, and is there any chance he survived?
Devon Giehl: It started because we wanted to take the characters to a sort of pirate town after they lost Zubeia’s help, they needed a boat to get down the coast. We started developing the idea of Scumport first and then we decided that the minor villain they would encounter In Scumport, this pirate-y lawless town would be Finnegrin. At first, he was only meant to antagonize the cast for one episode, but we had so much fun coming up with stories about the pirate town that we decided to invent the three-part arc in order to be able to fully tell a bigger story about the pirates and the trouble that Callum and co get in with him. So, we ended up saying “what if he chases them?”, “what if he’s part of the plot for the next 2 episodes?” that he pursues them and eventually captures them. We wanted him to be really mean, but also charismatic and charming and he was inspired by the character Al Swearengen from Deadwood. In terms of any chance of him surviving, I think it’s possible, I like to imagine that he had some magical or clever way of escaping his fate. I would like to see him again because I really had fun writing him. Maybe he got out, it’s possible, he’s a powerful ocean mage and a tidebound elf, so maybe. I know that there were jokes about why does he worry about drowning and I was like “why did I write it that way?” but I think even tidebound elves probably have ways of dying. It’s probably more of a metaphor than literally. If you go down far enough anything will be crushed down there. And she’s an Ocean dragon, she can probably just kill him in multiple ways.
In our understanding, a major theme of the episode was the lack of control of things that are bigger and deeper, like the tides of the Ocean, the dark parts of ourselves, which are things we can’t and shouldn’t control. And we wonder what will it mean for Callum, who values his freedom and his choices, when considering that in the last season, Callum lost control of himself when possessed by Aaravos, and now he reached this understanding of the Ocean arcanum.
DG: As a character, Callum explores the themes of freedom and to me that connects to themes of growing up in a way that there is this moment when you are young, especially when you are an early teenager, you gain some sense of self and you realize your individuality, your potential, the limitless power you can potentially have in the world.
You come into yourself in a powerful way and it’s really exciting and you feel like you can do anything. And then very quickly, as you get a little bit older, you come into a place where you realize it’s not that easy. There’s so many things in the world that are bigger and scarier than you, and you start to feel more powerless in how you may confront them, overcome them, and whether or not you even can, you start to make decisions more out of fear sometimes, out of desperation, you compromise parts of yourself, and it wears the way that person thought the world was infinite.
For Callum, in season 2 when he unlocked the Sky Arcanum, he was over the moon, he was excited, the entire world was open to him, he was free of everything. But now, he is a couple years older, a couple years wiser, for better and worse, and this is a scenario in which he was sort of backed into a corner and the only way out he could see was doing something that he didn’t want to do. To me it’s tough ‘cause it changes what he might think he originally believed in only connecting to the Sky. And it makes him a little bit more complex, he rattles his assumptions about his potential and he’s not quite sure anymore if he is who he thought he was going to be and I think all of us go through that at some point of our lives, and it’s really hard.
With maturity comes the sort of darker awareness of dangers of the world and your very small place in it. Whereas the Sky says “look, the whole world is yours, it’s open, beautiful and wild, you can be and do anything”, the Ocean arcanum says like “now, hold on, it’s not quite that easy and infinity possibility does mean that some of these possibilities could be bad”.
Tumblr media
Another theme of the Ocean primal is accepting there are dark parts of ourselves, and it seems similar with the Moon primal, that recognizes that there are sides of other people that are hidden from view. So, is Callum ever going to try to tap into Moon arcanum?
DG: There’s a little bit of connection between the Ocean and Moon primal, because they are sort of the push and pull of the tide, they are related, they influence each other. In terms of Callum and the Moon Arcanum, from a more storytelling perspective he might. For me it’s hard to commit to that because the moon it’s Rayla’s special territory. It’s tough because if you have Callum to start to be able to do all this cool Moon magic, it actually kind lessens what Rayla is and what she is capable of. I don’t think it’s necessarily impossible, but I think it takes something away from her in a way we don’t really want the narrative to do currently, which is why we gave Callum his own identity with the Ocean and Sky for the moment. All of the moon stuff is very much how Rayla shines and she’s not going to get other arcanums as a moonshadow elf, we wanna make sure that she still gets to be cool and powerful with what we gave her and not just take that and give it to someone else.
And does the Ocean (and Moon) primal reflects the relationship between Callum and Rayla, considering we also saw the themes of trust between them – even when Rayla temporary hid the truth about what she was doing in his office – and eventually help mend their relationship?
DG: Ooh, that's spicy. I think both of them keep a lot inside, specially stuff that they feel ashamed of or frightened by, and I think that’s very natural for a lot of young people, even people in general. Rayla kept what she was doing from him, and it wasn't necessarily an attempt to hurt him or deceive him, it was very much because she didn’t know how to handle what she learned about the coins, she had no answer, she felt like “maybe if I learn a bit more, I can do something about it, but I’m not sure” and then in the end she has her little vision and she decides “I can’t figure this out right now, even though I really want to, I’m gonna have to go help Callum”‘. So I think it was very personal for her, even when you are in really loving relationships. They are not currently dating, but they do care about each other very deeply, there are still things you attempt to handle on your own and not share even with your partner.
I think Callum is a little bit the same way because there is that sort of like not quite mended trust between them, you also see reflected in how he doesn’t tell her right away about what he did to get out of Finnegrin’s grasp. I think once you unlock an arcanum, it doesnt mean you are gonna be a perfect person and act by the thing you’ve accessed, it just sort of is… sort of like mental breakthroughs, but even when you have little mental breakthroughs in real life, you can still screw up and take those breakthroughs and be destructive with them. The trust between them isn’t perfect yet, but they care about each other enough the other is not trying to hurt them. When Callum said at the end of season 4 “I’m so glad you are back”, everything that followed that, to me, was about him living by that realization, he’s not holding things against her, he understands and cares about who she is. It still is not what it was, but it’s more worthy to have her back in my life than to continue to be angry and resentful and sort of keep her at arm’s length. That doesn’t mean that they are gonna be totally honest and share everything with each other right away, so you still see both of them still taking on their individuals burdens and struggling with them.
Tumblr media
What were Ezran and Soren feelings on Callum being tortured and then Rayla being almost fed to the Levianthan? We couldn’t get much into it because of time constraints, but we would love to know more!
DG: The episodes are only 22 minutes long. I would’ve love to do a scene where everybody has like a sort of immediate reaction. If I had to write that scene, I think I would have a lot of people, like Soren and Rayla, basically everyone, making a really big effort to see if Callum’s is okay and if Soren is okay, but I think Callum is in that moment… He doesn’t really want everybody’s immediate attention, he would probably say that he was fine and to check on everyone else, and that’s why you see Rayla with Stella, and everybody coming out, letting off the shackles and things like that and then you see Rayla going to Callum, I don’t think anybody ignored him or took him from granted, there was probably a very brief like, everybody checking in with each other, but his emotions were very confusing. He goes and sits down by himself, huddles up. Then Rayla reapproaches him and you see it play out as it did on the show. Everybody was pretty scared.
In this season, we saw Soren bring up the fact that Ezran, despite being king, is still a child. Is this conflict going to be brought up again, perharps by other people in his council or other Human Kingdoms?
DG: I won’t say how it comes out, but I think Ezran struggles as a really young kid versus the King. He talks like a twenty-five year old, he’s like really, really mature and trying so hard to “grown up”, but I think there’s parts of him that are suffering quietly because of that and we will see that come in to play. The fact that he is a child and there are parts of him that aren’t quite ready for all of this will definitely impact some things in the future.
Ezran’s grief in his short story was such an interesting take in his character, and i wonder if we’ll see more about it in the next seasons?
DG: Yes… Is that too much? That short story was more like a tease for the next three seasons, not just season five. So it’s something that's simmering in him during season 5, season 6 and onward. You’ll see a little bit more of it. He’s outworldly, very wise, very perfect, but there is a part of him that’s very vulnerable to pain, just like everybody, It’s easy to say out loud “peace and love and harmony”, but to actually act on that, not harbor any resentment, is super human. Even he is not immune to that. Everybody has things they are mad about.
Tumblr media
QUESTIONS FROM THE FANS
Will the first human to ever do primal magic be explored more at some point?
DG: As far as I know, it’s really open ended and would be the subject of its own story, at some point, but i think it would be pretty cool.
Is there a connection between Aaravos and Callum’s mind, to the point of giving him nightmares? Or is there something else you can tell about a connection between them?
DG: I like the idea that he has nightmares, if anyone wants to write fanfiction about it, please do it! I don’t want to say much about their connection, but once Aaravos has control and touched him in some way, this connection still exists and it’s not something that just disappears, it’s with you Forever. That’s all i can say!
Will we see more of the Silvergrove, or if some of its inhabitants will be making an appearence?
DG: That’s too many spoilers, but we will see more Moonshadow stuff, and revisit their culture in a meaningful way.
Can you tell us anything about Claudia’s feelings on Rayla, or if they’ll be explored in the next seasons? Up until now, they didn’t share many positive interactions, and now Rayla was the main responsable for Claudia not freeing Aaravos, and also cut her leg (even if it wasn’t her intention).
DG: I think Claudia blames all 3 of them with the same amount of anger, I don’t think she focus on Rayla specifically. She sees Rayla as somebody who poisoned people who used to be her friends Against her, she hasn’t really taken the time to consider her as a person. She’s “The Elf” and has a really hard time moving on from that, and I think this encounter just reinforced that. It’s a very negative interaction and They didnt enjoy it. I don’t think she’s gonna blame Rayla especifically, it’s those 3 people – her old friends and the elf. It’s not a specific focus on Rayla.
Will we see more interactions between Soren and Corvus?
DG: Yes. Without saying too much about it, there’s na episode written by our sênior writer – Paige VanTassel – about Soren and Corvus and a storyline they go through. It’s extremely funny because Paige is the funniest writer in the room, and i hope people like it, cause they’re just so funny. The dynamic between Soren and his sort of goofy, himbo humour and Corvus who has deadpan reactions is delightful, and Paige made a Whole story about it. You’ll see it in a future season, and I love it!
Tumblr media
In season 4, Rayla says “we can’t save everyone”, in response to her decision to no helping the Drake. Is this foreshadowing for something that might happen in the next seasons? Or it means a change of heart, in contrast to her saving Phyrrah back in season 2?
DG: I think when Rayla said that, she was having a very hard time. When you say things that are against your own nature – because i really think she didn’t mean it, she said the most mean, tough thing she could think of because nothing was going the way she wanted it to go. She was struggling with Callum, stuggling to connect with everybody, Soren was kind of annoying her, and I think she said something completely unlike her, in ways that are difficult to take back. And in the next morning she realizes what she did and freaks out, and it’s just another small mistake in her inability to process her own feelings very well. She routinely proves it’s not something she really believes, but in that moment she was feeling pretty low and angry, and it did not lead her to take great courses of action.
Could Callum adapt Manus Pluma Volantus the way he adapted the Ocean runes to allow his friends to breathe below the water?
DG: That’s a really good question. Maybe? To be honest we never though about that. Maybe it might not work the same way. But It’s possible!
About Terry: will his role remain as an emotional support for Claudia, or question what she does – which is something he already does, and in this season he did it twice, so we wonder if it’ll continue?
DG: I think he very much sees a version of Claudia that’s heroic, even though her methods are dark magic, and it’s a choice she’s making to save her father, and he genuinely believes that’s a good cause. He’s not like Rayla, raised to be na assasin, he’s kind of a normal elf, just a guy, he’s not quite aware of the world and the threat of Aaravos and what everybody else is fighting. He understands Claudia wants to save her father, but he has very limited knowledge on what that means.
From Claudia’s perspective, Aaravos is a “bro”, he sat on her shoulders for 2 years and helped preserve her father. So Terry's got a diferent set of information than the main cast, and sometimes people seem to not consider that – he doesn’t know everything our main characters have learned, and we’ve already seen him a couple times Calling her out when she tiptoes on the edge of cruelty, when she gets very angry, when she lashes out at Rayla and doesn’t give her the coins, when she lashes out at the dragon and wants to hurt it instead of just stopping, and that will continue. But he genuinely loves Claudia, he thinks she’s funny, charming, loyal to her family in a way that’s truly beautiful (even if for us, as the audience, is kinda twisted), he’s seen her best version and seen her do incredible things to get what she wants, but she’s slipping a little, and it’s alarming to him, so we’ll see more of that.

I am totally normal and not at all thinking about Conquerer!Ghost having Soap fuck his Princess in his big werewolf form as a punishment for her or a reward for him. He’s just so big and thick and Princess can barely handle Ghost :( every thrust makes her feel like he’s fucking her lungs instead of her cunt, having her wailing and blabbering, unable to form coherent thoughts when her legs are up on his tall shoulders and all the blood is rushing to her head. And oh god, his knot-
oh man i forgot that i had soap be a werewolf when i posted this as just ghost x soap originally
yknow i always think werewolves as basically the twilight version - human and Big Wolf but i kinda fw the idea of soap having a half-transformed furry version of himself where he's just big and furry. also i wrote more just werewolf soap, this doesn't really exist in that conqueror ghost au
johnny who completely loses control of himself when he's shifted :/ he's technically listening to simon and every command he's given, but he's doing it while snarling and growling and overall being very terrifying. ghost knows he's got johnny firmly beneath his thumb so he just sorta rolls his eyes at all the dramatics, but you're held down naked and supposedly about to take his cock, it's a little scarier for you
werewolf johnny who has to watch ghost fuck you first so you're stretched enough for him :( it's literally impossible for him to fuck with you without some damage if they don't spend hours getting you ready, which is miserable for you and johnny but a great way for ghost to spend his afternoon
it takes him a looong time to fuck his knot into you, but he' so soft once he does :( nuzzling and licking you, whining as he cleans off your tears, kissing any little stretch of skin he can reach. you're so so overwhelmed, feeling literally everything your body is even capable of feeling, and he just wants cuddles and kisses :(

Ian was saying that more complex toppings were more ‘mature’ (as opposed to plain cheese pizza which admittedly is popular with children) plus cashews are expensive/fancy/healthy. Is he trying to project a more sophisticated image or something?
Is poor Sunshine the familiar, reliable but boring childhood comfort food he’s leaving behind to try something (or someone) more adventurous and glamorous?
Does he at one point start to see himself as outgrowing them? (In the opening of the game Sunshine expresses the opposite, implying Ian is the one childhood thing they’re nostalgic for. Ouch.)
He seems to talk about cheese pizza like they always get it, like it’s the safe fallback option… hmmm…
Googling brings up stuff about cashews being offered as a pizza topping in some places in the Northwest, others say it originated from some place in California called Dave’s Gay 90s. Can’t speak to the truth of that and don’t know why a young man living in Texas wants it, but perhaps it reflects his aspirations.
California is apparently home to a number of actors that have made it big and perhaps that’s where his acting school is?
So the cheese pizza is his safe childish past with Sunshine and the Californian cashew pizza topping is symbolic of the acting success he’s hoping his adult future will be?
I don’t know, I’m not American
Your analysis is very insightful. I think you did a great job with it. I really like the idea of the pizza being a metaphor for MC and Ian's relationship.
It would sadly make a lot of sense that part of why Ian cheated was because he outgrew the relationship and MC. It/they didn't satisfy him anymore. He wanted new, exciting, more mature things. MC was safe, nostalgic... a piece of Ian's childhood.
It makes sense too why after Ian cheated, MC recklessly abandons anything nostalgic. They're trying to move on from those feelings that Ian took for granted after the cheating tainted them.
It also makes sense why Ian is so desperate to get MC back, as new things, however exciting, are scarier than something safe and familiar.
Sometimes I've heard stories about couples that were together for years since they were teenagers who clicked just right and seemed perfect for one another... only to end abruptly when one partner suddenly starts wanting more. They want to explore independence, other relationships, and everything the world has to offer. They could even regard their partner as perfect even while their feelings have cooled, lamenting that if only they met later in life when they were ready to settle down in a serious relationship... then everything would feel perfect. They wouldn't be feeling this restlessness. The relationship would actually feel satisfying to them.
Then those same restless exes, after cheating, breaking up, whatever, and losing their former partner... They discover that they miss their ex despite being the one to break their former lover's heart when seeking freedom. The other relationships, though exciting, aren't as fulfilling as the childhood sweetheart they dumped. If they can at least stay friends then there's a chance of getting back together, but if not... then it becomes terrifying as their safety net is gone.
Speaking of the fallback option, there's this one picture that isn't necessarily canon where Ian talked about MC as if they were his fallback option if acting didn't work out.
Tumblr media
Credit, as always, goes to the awesome Sauce. Sorry about the cropping, but tumblr will not accept what's to the left of this image. You can check the full NSFW version out here if you want to see Ian and MC going at it.
BTW consider checking out the SnaccPop Studios Patreon. It's got a lot of other nice and spicy things. Just don't repost anything posted there.
Ian might be showing his insecurity here, but consider the timeline. If acting worked out, he leaves MC to go to his fancy acting school. There, he seems to have made it as a model and actor... and it's (presumably) where he cheated. He got what he wanted, all the excitement and fame of the life of an actor... including an exciting tryst... then he realized that he betrayed all his ideals, everything he said before about only loving and wanting MC, and his relationship with MC all for one moment of excitement.
MC was the comfortable option, the nostalgic option, the safe option... but sometimes a person just wants to take risks, to "grow up" and be adventurous... and sometimes that leads to reckless decisions, like what happened with Ian.
We might not know for sure exactly what led Ian to cheat, but he knows he messed up, as he admits to himself in the demo. He knows he wrecked a good thing... and that's why he's so desperate to get his safe nostalgia back.

At the chance of angering people... I wanna talk a little about the difference between this scene in the manga versus the anime and why it annoys me a little bit...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The manga is, of course, the original version. There's a conversation I'd like to have about how the anime changed the design of both Haru and Legoshi in certain details and how this changes the perception of the audience but that's for another day.
So, the scene. They are waiting for the train, with a Legoshi that just realized he's in love with Haru after seeing her smile to Louis and a Haru that's confused at why Legoshi approached her. The sequence is basically the same, with very specific differences:
- In the manga, there are people in the background all the time, whereas in the anime we don't see anyone but Haru and Legoshi for a while, which I personally think can be interpreted as Legoshi *feeling* like there was no one but them.
- Legoshi in the anime comes out as less scary (which is a general thing but here in particular it's easy to notice) and the atmosphere between him and Haru feels more comfortable.
Now the point I wanted to make... Back to the manga, Legoshi grabs Haru way more roughly after she says she wants to go in another car. Her reaction is inmediate anger, demanding to be let free. Her face is drawn bigger and less adorable as she screams: She's a small herbivore with no chance against a wolf like Legoshi, but she hisses and demands anyway. We see her anger.
Tumblr media
And we see Legoshi's anger too.
His expression starts as concerned, perhaps not understanding that he's applying too much strength on Haru's arm, more likely unused to grab someone else like he's doing. But when Haru demands to be let free, his face goes from concern to annoyance. "No" he says, in a cold, cruel face.
Haru screams again, louder and with more fury in all her body. And the way Legoshi is drawn can only mean he's even darker and scarier than before. "No" he repeats, in bold letters. Louder, rougher. He's in power here, not her.
And then he realizes people are looking at them, and his anger and possessiveness is gone.
The anime, in the other hand...
Tumblr media
Legoshi's expression through the whole sequence is sad and needy, like he's a dog begging his owner not to leave. Haru doesn't show pure anger either, she's closer to be offended and sad too, and the way in which they are voiced go according to this: They are having a sad argument, all possessiveness and power dynamic erased.
But what does this mean? Well, simplifying, the anime gives Legoshi and Haru a more innocent relationship via changing details like these ones. By making Legoshi cling to her sad and desperate rather than rough and possessive, it's easier to transmit that he's in love with her. However this also erases part of their conflict, with Legoshi having more explicit hunter behavior towards Haru in the manga.
Similarly, Haru is already inclined to love Legoshi back in the anime version. Her reactions are less intense and she has little to no fury. In the anime we are given a more mature Haru, something we can also appreciate in the way her screaming towards her bullies changes in the anime version, with her being more confident, arrogant and brave, whereas in the manga she's exploiting and more childish not only in that scene but many more.
These changes make easier to portray Haru and Legoshi's love, because he's more heroic and sweet while she's more mature and confident. And while this can be good when writing a relationship, these changes... Sort of change the conflict they face, and erase many elements they struggle with. The fact that people are scared when seeing Legoshi close to Haru is lost, and his sweet attitude makes unfitting all the moments where people close to him think he might hurt her. In the other hand, Haru loses certain core of her character, being less innocent and pushed towards a more stoic behavior. Both her re design and new attitude change the implications that their manga relationship has...
It's not wrong. But it is different.

Post script on Not Alive, Nor Dead
Like I mentioned yesterday, I have a lot to say about the fic now that it's done.
The TLDR is that I'm leaving an option for a sequel. No promises though.
Leaving the rest of it under the cut because idk how long it will end up.
Okay, so first thing I gotta admit is that I didn't plan shit lmao. I had the start very clearly in my head, which were the scenes I talked about in the first post I made about revenant AU. But the entire plot line with Graves being a secret revenant? Hell, even the whole 'revenants and non-revs are getting kidnapped around the world' was not planned.
The scene in chapter 4 with the PMC was the introduction for the anonymous PMC, but I didn't think of making Graves and in extension Shadow Company all the work of a revenant. I was debating even making him a revenant at all, up until I wrote the chapter introducing him.
This approach, of not planning shit, is what made me excited to sit down and write every day. It felt like I was discovering the story myself.
It's also a fucking miracle the story is coherent in any shape or form.
Now, I did write a few things before starting. They were a small overview of the character arcs I want the 141 to go through, and a brief about each revenant's powers, because those things need to be consistent.
The arc overview isn't accurate anymore, it has a version of Gaz's storyline that I didn't manage to fit in, where he has a fear of heights, and overcomes it throughout the fic. The only one really left unchanged was Soap, who had the whole "my powers are too destructive" thing ongoing for most of the story.
Speaking of Soap, the Konchar mystery? I was figuring it out while writing the 3 chapters before introducing 'Konchar'. There are some inconsistencies because of that, specifically in a line where Soap says something along the lines of "I did something on my Reaping, something that if I could replicate, I might've not been let on the team." which kinda makes sense but kinda doesn't, considering all that Ghost has done.
Ghost's struggles with Limbo were something I added after wanting to give him a parallel to Soap. Originally, Ghost's role was to be the guy that has already gone through what Soap is going through, already knowing everything and having as much control on Limbo as he can. But making Limbo this uncontrollable realm was more interesting... also having it reflect Ghost's mind and emotions was cool.
One of the most pleasant surprises was how Price's powers interacted with everyone else's. I think it was the best power to personality match I made, he's not as scary as the others at first glance, but the ability to bore into the minds of his enemies, the way no one can keep secrets from him? Makes him terrifying. It's not made clear in the fic, but the reason it took Price so long to figure Graves out is their previous encounters. Graves knew how to divert his thoughts away from his Shadows, and stop Price from finding out.
What made Price realize Grave's Shadows aren't human is he tried to read their mind, only to find a list of commands. Graves tried to keep them away as much as he can, but it was inevitable. Shepherd knew it, which is why he ordered Price to keep his mouth shut almost instantly.
Since the way revenants get their powers must be linked to the way they died, some revs were easier to find powers for than others. Obviously the 141 was first, some at the time I started thinking about how they died didn't have a canon near-death experience, like Price and Soap.
I took Ghost's og backstory, and the idea of Limbo was gotten from the fact he died in a coffin, in a state of in between life and death. What Limbo does to people was just 'scariest thing I could imagine' type of situation. In the end, I don't know if Limbo is scarier when Ghost couldn't control it, or when both he and Soap could.
With Soap, I knew I wanted something with explosions, so it was a no-brainer to make him die from one. I mentioned in another post, but revenant AU was originally at the very beginning just a thing of 'what if I put mw characters in my original magic system?', and in that scenario, Soap was the only one with powers, which were control over anti matter, meaning anything he touches or touches him explodes. The only scene from that one is of Soap pushing Ghost away and getting shot to high hell, only to go and explode the people that tried to kill him - which is chapter 8.
I chose to use Gaz's iconic hanging out of a chopper scene, because I found it funny tbh lol. Later, when I thought of how exactly he died, it became more serious.
Price's were just kinda random tbh. I figured telepathy is a good ability for a Captain.
Rudy obviously dies in the house fire he almost did in the campaign. Alejandro was harder, but I thought of how Graves locked him up in the black site prison alone, so I went for something similar.
It's not mentioned in the fic, but Farah was the youngest to die from all of them. The house collapse in the start of her flashbacks in mwi, where her father pulled her out of the rubble? She didn't survive it. She's a very rare revenant, to be Reaped when she was a kid.
Farah and Ghost's og backstory have a lot of similarities, in my mind they're parallels to each other. What Farah had that Ghost didn't, however, is other people, a community. I think that's why she didn't lose herself the way Ghost did.
Alex's was difficult, because his canon near-death experience was being exploded, like Soap. I used the fact he's ex CIA, to figure he probably took part of many covert operations, and one went wrong. He was caught, so now he can go invisible. This was the thing I failed to make clear the most in the fic, I think, since a few people asked, more than anything else.
Thomas Anderson, the revenant with underwater breathing abilities, was originally made just for Ghost to roast him. When chapter 8 rolled around, and I needed a random revenant to kill there, I thought using the one established would make sense.
Accidental foreshadowing like this was what carried the fic, tbh. It was like a huge session of 'yes, and'ing myself. A little bit of bullshitting confidently, sometimes it felt like that lmao.
The wedding vows in chapter 31 were, again, unplanned. Ghost said "till death do us apart, Johnny?", so I started looking up Christian wedding vows in English because I don't fully remember them. Later I thought "wait, Soap is Catholic, maybe they have a different version." and then I thought, "shit, he's fuckin' Scottish, he won't use fucking American Catholic vows." (maybe he would idk).
Anyway, I found the Celtic vows present in the fic, which sounded like a metaphor, so perfect I couldn't use them just for the original joke they were meant for. So Soap ends up reciting literal wedding vows at the man.
[here's a link to the website I found the vows at]
Last thing is the whole Makarov tie in to Konchar. I was thinking about how we never really dove deep into why Konchar did what he did, besides having his Reaper tell him "you have to kill Soap before he kills you". I heard an advice somewhere, that in world building you have to dive in two questions for it to be believable.
So, let's take Konchar for example. First question is, "how did Soap killing Konchar not bring on an international incident between Kastovia and the UK?". The answer is, "Konchar was an army deserter." Second question is, "why did Konchar desert the army?", and the second answer is, "because he left to work with Makarov."
We don't need to know why he left, not at the point I left the fic at. Those two answers would be enough for readers to not feel like there's a plot hole there, at least according to that advice I've heard.
NOW, with all of that out of the way, I wanted to post the notes I've made on each revenant's powers, because I thought it could be interesting for someone. AND! I kept some deleted scenes, and it would be a shame to just let them rot in the Google Doc lol.
First up, list of revenants and their powers:
[These aren't 100% accurate anymore, as they were written before I started writing the fic, and I only added stuff to them]
Ghost - limbo: is able to send a circle around him into “limbo”, a space between life and death, that no one can escape. Filled with his enemies. Only way to survive is if ghost brings you to the eye of the storm, where he keeps himself safe of his own powers. Ghost can be killed by any means if taken by surprise and doesnt activate his powers.
If stands still too long, inky hands start grasping at him from the ground. Prefers to sleep elevated.
Died in a coffin.
From chapter 21 and beyond - able to wield to withstand fire in his right hand.
Soap - explosion: cant be killed by explosions, and can explode anything he touches. Any injury with the root cause being explosion (fall from high building, debris scratches, etc.) will be healed, but he does feel pain from it. Gunshots cant kill him (the bullets shoot with explosions). Can be killed by any melee attack, poison, electricity.
Fire burns from his fingertips, hard to put out. Spreads when agitated. Hot to the touch.
Died from a fall because of an explosion.
From chapter 21 and beyond - able to wield the protective light in his left hand in Limbo.
Gaz - gravity: can manipulate gravity of himself and objects he touches. Cant die from falling. Can be killed by any means, but hard to catch and aim at while at motion.
Usually floats a couple inches off ground.
Died in a helicopter accident.
Price - telepathy: can talk and transmit simple ideas to other around him. Can feel emotions of others. Can be killed by any means, but Price can manipulate the enemies thoughts and distract them.
His thoughts can “leak” if left unguarded.
Died after being abandoned and without comms.
Alejandro - phase: can phase through solid objects, including bullets. Can be killed by any means if caught by surprise.
Sometimes accidentally phases through things.
Died in captivity.
Rodolfo - ice: can lower the temperature of anything he touches rapidly. Can freeze and jam guns. Can inflict ice burns. Can be killed by any means beside fire.
Breath always visible, cold to the touch.
Died in a fire.
Farah - steelskin: can deflect any attack to her body. Bullets, knives, rockets. Can be killed by poison easily, as needles cant pierce her skin and therefore medical administration is hard to give.
Skin shines oddly.
Died from a stab wound. [changed to what I explained above]
Youngest to become a revenant.
Alex - invisibility: can become invisible. Otherwise can be killed by any means, hard to spot.
Skin sometimes flickers.
Died when got caught.
Graves - shadow company: can create “shadows”, puppets he controls. Can be killed by any means, but hard to get through his shadows.
Doesnt have a shadow of his own, eyes become milky and vacant, leaking after a while.
Died from betrayal.
[I didn't manage to find a place to add this - yes, Graves died after his squad betrayed him. His powers are a replacement for the whole army. His last line, "Me? I am the army." was what he boiled down to. Limbo's victims marking him a traitor was two fold. He betrayed the 141, Vaqueros, the UFL and basically everyone around him, but he also betrayed his own Reaper, who gave him powers to not go through that very thing. It's also another reason why chapter 30 is called 'Die As You Live'.]
Kirill “Konchar” Bogomolov - telekinesis: can move objects with his mind. Can protect himself from any physical attack, and redirect them towards the attacker. Is a revenant of the Pull, like Gaz.  (name means “Lord” and “devotionalist”) First death from RPG, second death by Soap.
Now, for the cut content. Most of these are one scene, usually one that didn't fit the emotinal arc of the characters, or the direction was going somewhere I didn't like. There's one that is a page and a half long, and that chapter was one of the hardest to write, so I practically restarted it at one point.
I'll try to add the context they were originally in if I remember.
[Context: the scene in Chapter 5, where Ghost watches the night sky out of a window, unable to sleep, and Soap comes to speak with him for the first time since they fought about Soap's tendenticy to let himself get hurt. Soap says he heard rumors about Ghost, and Ghost asks what they said.]
“ (rumors) That you murder our soldiers.”
Something akin to fear rang through his chest. So he knows… He supposes it was meant to happen eventually.
Soap’s face, for some reason, doesn’t lose its newfound cheerfulness.
“And what do you think about those rumors?” Hell knows why he wants to keep hearing him talk.
“Well, that makes the two of us.”
… What.
“What?” Ghost intelligently mutters.
Soap’s eyes widen, face not unlike a child caught with his hand in a cookie jar.
[Reason to cut: Soap wasn't supposed to admit that yet. He also wouldn't have done it in such a non-chalant way, with how heavy the guilt weighs on him.]
[Context: Chapter 10, where Ghost was showing his powers to the Vaqueros and Graves.]
The Captain’s voice fills his head, “field’s clear, go ahead Lieutenant.”
Ghost glances one last time at Soap’s figure, no more than a small speck, far, far away from him.
He closes his eyes. The warm air of Las Almas dissipates into the chill of Limbo.
He opens them, confused. The void is quiet, the residents of Limbo looking at the distance, calm and still. It reminds him of… before.
Ghost frowns, narrowing his eyes to try and see what caught their attention. There, a far away point flickers.
A small, white flame. Where… Soap was standing.
Ghost blinks and stumbles back. Price instantly sounds in his mind, “Simon, what’s going on?!”
“I saw something there…” He makes eye contact with the Captain, who is now jogging towards him, Gaz and Soap behind him. “Light… from Johnny.”
It can’t be… how is Soap able to affect Limbo? Every single spiritulogist he met agreed on the fact he’s a sort of master over Limbo, that the realm is a manifestation he’s inseparably linked to.
The only thing others can do there, is die.
“What do you mean light?” Price urges on.
“A small flame. Where Soap was. The victims were all staring at it.”
The 141 members reach him, Johnny rushing to him, “are you alright?”
Ghost gapes at him, “you’re different. I’ve… changed you.”
Soap frowns, “what are ye on about?” he steps closer.
Ghost takes a step back, “stop.”
The Sergeant stills, a hurt expression flashing on his face before he schools his features.
Price invades his mind, “Simon, you have to calm down-”
“Calm down?! I fucked up Soap! I need to-”
The ladder patterns. Ghost turns around.
“SIMON RILEY”
“Reaper”, he exhales shakily.
“YOU’VE DOOMED YOURSELF. IT IS TOO LATE.”
“What are you talking about?!” Ghost screams, “you keep saying I’m gonna die, while Johnny keeps suffering!”
“I DO NOT CARE ABOUT OTHER REVENANTS, SIMON.”
The Reaper leans in to shriek in his ears, Ghost clutching his head uselessly.
“YOU ARE INTERTWINED.”
Ghost cries from the pain. His Reaper does not falter.
“KILL HIM FIRST.”
His vision fades along with the Reaper’s words.
“Ghost! Fuck, someone get a medic” Someone shouts above him.
Another voice interjects, “he’s not injured, Sergeant. He’s with his Reaper.”
“From my experience, that doesn’t make me holler and pass out!”
A third person joins the conversation, “shut it! He’s waking up.”
Ghost groans and makes a move to rub his eyes, only to be stopped by his hard-shell mask. “Simon? You alright son?” Price asks, bringing the smell of fresh flowers and a soft bed to him.
He gets up (when did he lay down?) and mutters, “fine”. His voice hoarse from screaming. He takes in his team, the three of them concernedly crouch beside him, except Soap, who’s pacing around.
The Sergeant stops and eyes him warily.
“My Reaper’s mad.” he says in lieu of explanation to the others.
Soap stops, and looks down at him, still avoiding his stare, “it’s because of me, isn’t it?”
He sighs, “when those arms started grabbing ye I thought it was gonna-”
“What arms?” Ghost gets up.
“The dark arms from the ground, don’t tell me you didn’t noti-”
Ghost grabs the front of Soap’s shirt, “you fuckin’ see them?!”
The Sergeant struggles against his iron tight grasp, “aye! Thought I was hallucinating last night, fuckers made a pass at me-”
Ghost pushes him away, “fuckin’ hell”.
What the fuck is going on?! Nobody can see the victims outside of Limbo. It’s almost like…
“He has some of my powers…” Ghost whispers to himself.
But that’s not possible?
[Reason to cut: chapter wasn't working out for me. Characters not reacting in character. Reaper not supposed to show up just yet, and what it says kinda repeats previous encounters.]
[Context: chapter 13, instantly after Rudy and Gaz confront Ghost on his relationship with Soap.]
What, do they think he and Soap are sleeping side by side every night, comfortably tangled under the thin sheets? That he warms himself on his Sergeant’s eternal flame, that Johnny brushes his charred, calloused fingers over his arms, his shoulders, his neck, chasing away the cold, inky grasp Limbo always has on him? That Ghost reciprocates, that he holds Johnny’s face softly, bringing them closer and closer until-
[Reason to cut: out of character. Ghost doesn't think about affectionate actions, he jsut does them. Too early in the story for him to express such wants.]
[Context: I don't remember honestly. Entire scene was cut. Might be later in chapter 13, before Graves threatens Ghost.]
He catches Alejandro pacing around the base one day, frowning and arguing with Rudy in Spanish. From what Ghost can pick up, it’s something about an American. He’s pretty damn certain which one.
“Vargas, any issues?” he stops him before the man pops a blood vessel.
Alejandro glances at him, scanning their surroundings for eavesdropping ears. “Come with me.”
The three enter the Vaquero Commander’s office, Rudy locking it behind them, “it’s about Graves.” Alejandro starts pacing again, “fucking gringo is ordering his shadows to collect intel on us.”
“What?” that’s a huge fucking development.
Rudy is quick to correct him, “we can’t prove anything. But yes… Graves knows more than he should.”
“He knows about secret tunnels we have under the base, and weapon stashes that not even Price knows about. We got fucking Shepherd trying to get us to use locations for the mission he shouldn’t even know exist.”
Ghost feels the tension climb up his spine, “what the fuck do you think he’s playing at?”
Alejandro exhales loudly, “whatever it is, [I didn't finish the sentence]
[Reason to cut: Decided that Vaqueros wounldn't suspect Graves, and he wouldn't risk his powers found by using Shadows to spy on them. Didn't like where the scene was directing the story.]
[Context: chapter 19, when Ghost asks Gaz for help with showing emotions with Soap. Gaz asks why can't he now.]
Garrick nods thoughtfully, “and what is it that stops you? Fear?”
Ghost clenches his teeth, this conversation feels like pulling them out one by one, “I’m not afraid of him.”
“Wasn’t saying that sir”, Gaz thrums on his boot, “could be rejection, or… shit. Of course.” he stares at Ghost, eyes soft.
“The fuck’s it?” he glares back.
Gaz releases his powers, standing up in front of him, “you need to get over your fear of feeling.”
[Reason to cut: out of character. Wouldn't confront emotions head on. Unnatural for Gaz to just state that, rather have it implied. Not where I wanted Ghost's mentality to go.]
[Context: no idea. Probably after Ghost sent Soap to Limbo, and he gained an immunity to it.]
“We don’t have to be afraid, Simon. You can’t hurt me anymore.” Johnny whispers
[Reason to cut: don't remember.]
Tumblr is starting to lag, which means this post is huge lmao. Again, thank you to each and every one of you! The response to the fic was amazing, I never expected my little revenant AU to turn into something this big!
I loved the experience of writing Not Alive, Nor Dead. You can certainly expect more from me in the future!
For now, I have to focus on uni, and after that I have a few ideas for comics I wanna do. Might make a few oneshots in between, but no big projects like this one just yet!

WIP it's still Wednesday somewhere in the world
hello everyone today I am sharing some writing from my wips and music as I was tagged by the beloveds @socially-awkward-skeleton @kyber-infinitygems @inafieldofdaisies @cloudofbutterflies92 @cassietrn @voidika @corvosattano and @nightbloodbix for music monday and wip wednesday, thank you all so much 💜🧡
tagging (opt in/out): @risingsh0t @carlosoliveiraa @onehornedbeast @finding-comfort-in-rain @josephslittledeputy @aceghosts @thedeadthree @shadowglens @purplehairsecretlair @fourlittleseedlings @strangefable @leviiackrman @roofgeese @captastra @gwynbleidd @ri-a-rose
only have original stuff yet again. BUT also for the last time, me thinks. I came to the conclusion that I really can't write out of order because I need to know what happened before the scene I'm writing for it all to make sense
the first is for Snowfall! if there was a stripped version of this song it'd be even more perfect. this is chapter??? i don't even know but it's called the wolf and the pup 🤠
“Don’t be afraid. The bad men are gone now.”
“Did you send them away?”, the boy asks, his voice is very weak.
Sean looks around him. The corpses are far from the vehicle, out of eyesight. The darkness and fog created by the rain form an extra layer of cover up. He answers with a soft “Yes.”
The boy is hesitant but eventually gets up and starts moving in Sean’s direction. His steps are careful but also strangely heavy. Only now does Sean think about everything Sól’s son must’ve gone through these past few days. Hunted by the police, criminals… and him.
No one told him. If he knew… If only he knew. Why didn’t she tell him?
The boy must be tired by now. Scared too. Who can blame him.
Sean kneels down to be face to face with the boy. “Toby, is it?”, he asks in a calm tone.
“I want my mommy.” He most likely tried to sound demanding, but his voice is shaking. From the cold the rain brings? Or out of fear? Both thoughts sting into Sean’s heart, making it ache for a short moment. He remembers all too well how the boy is feeling now. He was just a child.
“I’ll take you to her”, Sean says and offers his hand to him. Said boy did not jump out of the vehicle yet.
Toby doesn’t acknowledge the gesture. “I wait for her.”
The man sighs and lowers his view. The rain washed most of the dirt and blood off his hand, but a stain remains. Sól’s words haven’t left his mind. What if she’s right? The one thing he swore to never become. And yet.
To make sure that doesn’t happen he clenches his hand into a fist. And he keeps the distance to the boy. The last thing Sean wants is to pressure him. A helping hand can seem a lot scarier to a frightened mind.
“You’re a Guevara, kid. Do you know what that means?”
Toby keeps silent.
“It means you’re not safe out here on your own.” His own words drive him to uneasiness. As he scans the area for any new threats, he notices just how heavy the rainfall has become. The white noise was completely drowned out during their conversation. “Those men that took you away from your mother did so on purpose. And they’ll come back for you.”
Toby doesn’t ask why. Instead, his view drifts off, focusing on something in the distance. Then, he crouches, ready to jump out of the vehicle.
Carefully, Sean gets back up and out of the way to give the boy some space.
With a loud splat Toby’s feet meet the ground. And within a heartbeat he starts running.
It comes unexpected. Sól was never one to run from her problems; the most important rule in her life. No, this is more like…
He sighs while his view follows the boy. It leaves him feeling a certain way he hasn’t felt in a very long time; empty.
So this is what it’s like.
the second one is for Outer Rim. the song captures the girls whole nature and vibe perfectly. also I'm on my hands and knees, this one is even longer, I'm so sorry
She turns the corner while looking behind her and immediately bumps into something. The sudden impact makes her stumble a few steps back and leaves her in surprise rather than any pain. As she spots the gear, she realizes who she just walked into. Her heart starts racing, almost bursting out of her chest. She doesn’t know what feeling is overtaking her right now — fear or embarrassment.
Jaye quickly averts her gaze, staring at the floor, slightly bent forward and swallows hard. It stings due to her mouth going dry in no time. Still, she apologizes. At least that’s what she wants to do but her thoughts aren’t calming down. Only the first syllable escapes her mouth, the rest is missing. As if her knowledge of the Japanese language was just erased from her mind.
“It’s alright”, he says. This is the first time Jaye has heard one of them speak something else besides Japanese. “No harm done.” His voice doesn’t sound muffled, either. Which leads her to believe he isn’t wearing his mask right now. Something she also hasn’t ever witnessed from either of them.
Despite the heartbeat in her ears, Jaye feels a tingling sensation running down her back. Which one is it? She has made the mistake of looking both of them in the eyes before. Hold the gaze for too long and it will aggravate them like the guard dogs they are.
Jaye closes her eyes shut in embarrassment. To not waste more of his time, she forces her legs to start moving again, past the guard, leaving him behind her.
“Wait.”
She stops in her tracks, as does her heart. And here she thought Jack was exaggerating when he said they can smell fear.
She quickly goes over every possible offence she could have caused and every possible way this could end. The overdose of terrible thoughts in this short amount of time isn’t helping in calming her down but only making it worse, resulting in every breath she takes shaking more than the last.
The woman fumbles with her hands, which have become sweaty by now. Before she grows the courage to turn around, Jaye swallows the lump in her throat. This will hopefully make it easier to actually speak if needed.
When she finally faces the man again, she looks right into his eyes. Ryōichi. A longer face and eyes slightly narrower than those of the other guard. In this lighting, his brown irises seem a lot bigger, soft almost.
Like a slap to the face, she realizes that she’s just standing there, staring at the man. All while he’s holding something out to her. The recording device Jack gave her. She dropped it. At this point her heart should’ve sent her into cardiac arrest. As if she wasn’t already visibly nervous enough, her hand shakes heavily when she reaches for the device.
She pulls it close, looking it over quickly as she does. To regain at least some of her courage, Jaye breathes in deeply. Then she looks at the guard again and whispers out a ‘thank you’.
Ryōichi smiles at her — for the first time — as if she is some odd little creature. “どういたしまして” You’re welcome.
A sudden noise startles both of them. The mechanical sound creates an illusion of a threatening growl as it reverberates through the dimly lit hallway.
Thud after heavy thud slowly approaches them until a big red light appears. The optic of one of Eden’s security robots. Jaye doesn’t need to look twice to recognize him. Unit C — Crossbones.
His head slightly moves to look down at Ryōichi. And the way the bot holds his gaze, he’s obviously expecting some kind of action taken by the human guard. However, said human never interacts with the bots and probably can’t interpret the gesture as such.
Another mechanic threat emits from Crossbones, immediately followed by him drawing his gun and pointing it at the guard.
As if struck by lightning, Jaye jumps between the bot and the human, trying to push his gun away.
“Bones, no! What are you doing?”
The bot doesn’t give in, his red eye still focused on Ryōichi.
Eden’s mechanical security only acts up like this whenever a drunken customer gets lost on the girl’s floor. Perhaps he thinks Jaye was in danger. Though their perception usually isn’t this… lousy.
Jaye closes her eyes for a second, like she could calm the bot down alongside herself. “He was just helping me. I’m fine.”
Silence. Followed by clicking noises. He’s processing. Thinking? His optic moves to look Jaye over. Scanning for her vitals or any injuries, most likely.
Another second of silence before his gun reconstructs itself back into his left arm and hand. “No imminent danger detected.”
Ryōichi curses under his breath. In her periphery Jaye spots his hands slowly move from his weapons that remained holstered.
“For now”, Crossbones adds.
The human guard scoffs.
“Bones, what’s come over you?”, the girl asks.
The bot takes a moment before answering. “Our sensors have registered a violation. We had to intervene.”
“Of what?”, Ryōichi asks with slight worry in his tone.
“Confidential.”
Jaye sighs in annoyance.
It’s enough to put the guard on edge. He immediately gets in contact with his colleague, asking what happened and where he and Miyako are. His voice dies out after he leaves Jaye’s sight. Now it’s just her and Crossbones left.
The bots must follow their programming of course. Jaye isn’t too familiar with it. Not at all, actually. It’s not like Jack would allow her to have a look at it. But the general basics she knows of. Their task is obvious, though she wonders why it had to be bots and not more guards like Ryōichi and Shōji. Two is an odd number for a huge place like Eden.

Will Byers reshaped the Upside Down from a hellscape into Hawkins
I know this has probably been mentioned before, but I need to get this out because right now I’m—
Tumblr media
Theory that in S1 when Will was taken, he reshaped the Upside Down the moment he arrived. Not created, but reshaped. He was so afraid and desperate for home that — using the powers he didn’t know he possessed — he turned the Upside Down into Hawkins, but a diseased version of it due to the emotions he felt. Distress, fear, loneliness, depression, and of course, feeling like he was on the brink of death. ST4 has fleshed out that El’s powers are affected by her emotions. So why not Will, and other super-powered individuals?
Recall when El forced 001 into the portal the ‘Upside Down’ looked very different from how it does now. Red skies, no grey. Lightning flashing everywhere, destructive, and no chance of non-powered beings actually surviving it. 001 barely did… he got hurt by it even and turned into a giant grey raisin. So something had to have happened before we saw UD!Hawkins for the first time in season 1. And this lines up with how Will was the first since Vecna to enter the UD, before the other victims.
+ Also where did all the organic life in UD!Hawkins come from? Were they unintentional manifestations of a horrified child’s imagination? Or did Vecna have a role in this, after Will changed the scape of the UD? This links to other theories I’ve read about Vecna being the one stalking Will at first— not the Demogorgon… perhaps it did not exist yet, at least not in that form? And Will had a hand in shaping the monsters as well, could be influenced by the monsters and creatures he is familiar with in D&D.
I’m sure Will shaping the UD is pretty much a given by now actually— since Nancy realized the date in the Upside Down in S4 Vol. 1! The day Will disappeared. She noted it verbally. Doesn’t that strike as odd? Nancy, not a direct friend of Will’s— remembers the exact date he disappeared?? This is debatable (maybe she wrote an entry/or NOT cause she was probably writing all about Steve at that time in her life) but I still think they had her character say this for a reason. Namely, they might reveal that UD!Hawkins all formed because of a frightened, super-powered child longing for home. That discovery was a part of the build up for the audience.
Vecna may or may not have known about Will’s powers when he decided to kidnap him (I’m guessing he did). And that relates why Will managed to survive so long without dying, and not being instantly eaten by the Demogorgon when it found him— as fleshed out in many excellent theories I’ve read.
Adding on that there is no Sun in the UD, which is why everything is so dark. But there is one anomaly, that we saw after S4. Vecna remained in the very centre of the dimension, the one he himself inhabits— which remains closer to the original version of the UD, with the red skies. He chose that lair and perhaps moved his old house towards it (how? Idk, powers maybe) / perhaps it really was where his house was located at after Will reshaped the dimension… but the skies remained red because it’s where his own powers are most prominent and therefore unaffected by Will’s. The house got messed up by the lightning there, which is why everything, furniture, walls, etc. is scattered. The death of his family gives him a stronger connection to the real world + he uses the Mind Flayer’s power via the vines to kill people in our dimension.
And an even scarier thought that links to the above and has probably been mentioned somewhere else online (I’m so late I KNOW) Will created the Mind Flayer??? And that is why Vecna will possibly take him in Vol. 2? Basically, Vecna has been using a part of Will’s power all this time… (wild I KNOW but consider the guilt Will would feel from this? Enough to turn him dark/fall under Vecna’s control even???) Did the Mind Flayer even exist before season 1? Or was it just a manifestation of Will’s powers working against him due to his trauma and fear, then twisted and controlled by Vecna?
In short, Will has a different kind of power from El. Not really a stretch since Kali had a wildly different ability, right? She can create illusions, El can move matter with her mind, has telekinetic abilities. Meanwhile, Will not only has the power of True Sight, but also the ability to build things according to how he perceives them and his current emotional state, but unconsciously for now as he hasn’t realized he has powers.
Remember, it’s been stressed many many times in the show that Will is an artist, more so than the other characters and their hobbies. He creates. And perhaps that’s why Vecna was trying so hard to possess him. What is big bad raisin’s goal again…? Oh yeah. Vecna doesn’t like how the world is and he wants to reshape it.
+ Consider a bad ending where Vecna’ed Will creating a sort of bubble to hide in/imprisons him (like Bill Cipher did to Mabel in Gravity Falls), where he can construct whatever he wants— and Will replays all the happy days with Mike and his friends, on loop, while Vecna draws his power to break through to our dimension. (Byler could play into this, I do ship Byler but I’m still doubtful about a scenario where Mike actually returns Will’s feelings so a bad ending like this might be plausible?? Mike is Will’s weakness.)
And if the Mind Flayer wasn’t created by Will, then the reason it chased him even after he escaped the dimension (and not Nancy, Jonathan or even El), was because it wanted him back. Will Byers has way more power than he realizes and he could be the key to either Vecna winning/losing.

Is there any difference between DBD Chucky and just a regular Chucky you can think of? Because I'd like a romantic concept of DBD Chucky if that works with you?
To be honest, there isn't many difference except the plot. However, I will take any excuse to write for Chucky 🤷‍♀️
Original Chucky Concept Here
Yandere! Chucky Concept
(Dead By Daylight Edition/Comparing differences)
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Sadism, Manipulation, Violence, Implied possessive behavior, Forced relationship.
Tumblr media
For the most part Chucky himself would be the same.
Yet there are some changes.
I'll start listing them off.
First of all, we actually see the ghost of Charles Lee Ray.
The ghost is used in any sort of pick up animations.
Which implies that this Chucky is less about the doll being yandere and more the spirit + the doll if that makes sense?
I feel that only makes things worse as now you have to deal with a ghost picking you up and holding you while the doll talks to you.
That's one key difference from the original concept.
Then of course the plot changes.
Chucky goes through the fog around the events of Child's Play 2.
So any concept with him would involve that version of Chucky and would take place in the trials of DBD.
Another thing is Chucky could not turn you into a doll in this version.
You'd get to stay human and have interactions with the doll and the ghost.
Oh, interacting with the ghost may be even weirder than the doll to you.
These are the differences I can think of between DBD and original Chucky.
He'd definitely hunt down a survivor darling to torment.
His affection for you is sadistic and twisted.
Like his original concept he comes off degrading at times/annoyed but knows he shouldn't break his new "toy" right away.
In some odd way he does begin to get attached.
I can't determine if this Chucky is stronger than normal.
The ghost certainly adds a sense of control.
This Chucky feels like he's a puppet to Charles Lee Ray compared to the other version of him.
Sure, he can interact with you as the doll at times...
But this version could also "interact with" you as a ghost.
He'd use it as a way to spook/tease you knowing him.
You'll be doing a generator, only to feel a chilling touch along with a laugh.
So in that sense, this version of Chucky has more power over you.
He'd find it fun that he can actually carry you compared to how he was before.
Honestly this Chucky has the power to properly restrain and pick you up.
Which could make him scarier.
The worst part is, in this version, you can't escape him forever.
You're both stuck in these trials, eventually if you get away he'll catch you.
You'll become his favorite survivor, the (blood)lust pooling through him when he sees you.
A constant game of cat and mouse... how romantic, right?
You and him would be in a constant loop...
Perfect time to get to know each other in his opinion.

Some more thoughts…
Ghost girl was wearing a white chemise when she appeared to Ace…which feels very old-timey. Like, that is NOT a modern dress. So my feeling is that though her corpse was just found, it isn’t new. But maybe appeared “along the coast” (per Connor) supernaturally somehow. My theory is that she is an earlier incarnation of Nancy.
Her scarier version appears on fire, but also wet? And possibly even frozen? Its hard to tell from the flashes, but maybe part of why she doesn’t know who she is is because she is multiple people- multiple prior incarnations of Nancy who died in different ways throughout time.
It will be interesting to see if Nancy could communicate with this ghost too. Honestly I could see that happening in 4x11 when she appears at the Claw and Ace being jealous over it but if she is an earlier version(s) of Nancy, it would make sense that she could communicate with Ace (her soulmate) and Nancy (her current reincarnation).
I do think this will ultimately play out as a Nashua and Ghost were soulmates - and the lovers vigil originated with them- and their most recent incarnations are Nancy and Ace.
I also feel like this could be the first time their souls didn’t align. Like if reincarnations of Ace and Nancy have always been the sin eater and leftover good energy, why did it end up in Tristan this time?
India died in 1998. Nancy was born in 2000 and Ace was a senior when she was a sophomore. That means both Ace and Tristan would have been in-utero around the time India died. What if the sin eaters soul was supposed to reincarnate in Ace, but didn’t. It has to be someone “in horseshoe bay” but what if Ace’s parents weren’t in HSB when India died and the soul had to go somewhere else - and ended up in Tristan. 4x11 being a Hardy-centric episode has a lot of potential with this idea in mind. Are we about to find out they spent some time outside of HSB in 1998 while Rebecca was pregnant?? They’ve been teasing the Seder all season. Something is going to be discovered, I know it.

Just came back from Stuttgart Staatstheater‘s production of Cabaret and my first impression is that it was really dirty (in a positive and lovely way) but underwhelming in presenting the apocolyptical feeling that is the end of Weimarer Republik in comparison to other productions (London, Baden, maybe also Chemnitz from what I have heard). BUT, it is the kind of production that the more you think about it the more you realize how serious and grounded the sutle social commentaries are.
How this production deals with Tomorrow Belongs to Me/tbtm (a fictional Nazi propaganda music written by its jewish componist) is really really different from the other versions I personally have seen.
So, often, this music will pop up twice in Act I. The function of the first time would be to present the allure/charm of Nazism, its aesthatic and its feigned progressiveness, then The Emcree will mock it. This can be achieved by only singing the first two stanze of the song (just leave the VATERLAND part out), where the lyric is fairly unalarming and just nice to the ear, combined with having a harmony or a children's chorus sing it. The more beautiful and innocent this tbtm was, the scarier the reprise of it would be at the end of Act I. I also enjoy this kind of design, because it forces the auience to fight their own appreciation of the aesthetic and it is not that easy, you WILL catch yourself humming the melody unconsciously after the show and you will want to slap yourself for it. Because of how asthetically appealing this propaganda is shown, a huge group of esemble singing the full version of tbtm at the end of Act I also makes sense. People are drawn to this horrible thing, the audience can understant it because they would also feel the pull.
HOWEVER, in the Stuttgart production, tbtm was presented as underwhelming and unimportant, even quietened by Ludwig (that explicitly anti-semitic Nazi guy) after Kost sung it ALONE at the end of Act I.
The Stuttgart production of Cabaret doesn't go for the 'Nazi is asthetic pleasing/brainwashing' route for making sense of why would Weimarer Republik spiral into Nazi-Germany. It make the audience notice the chilling fact/warning that turning to right-populism can a case of making horribly wrong decisions for the right reason.
The character of Kost, the nazi sex-worker living in Frau Schneider's appartment, get alot more depth an nuances in this production. She get more stage time and also a new number, which is I Don't Care Much. Yes they move this song to the first Act directly after Frau Schneider threaten to evict Kost for bringing in the sailors. Kost acts like an asshole like in most productions, but the following number makes it clear that she was feighning her cheerful bastard personality. She doesn't enjoy sex-work and is always tailed by hunger and homelessness.
Her interaction with the jewish tenant Herr Schutz was also not explicitly enti-semitic. She did not evoke the stereotype of the greedy jew like in most production (and the original script), but insteat made a social commentary on how now in this world everything is about doing business and making money. For me this is her clear resentment towards capitalism, exploitation and inequality, which is a huge problem in Weimarer Republik. Because of this characterization of Kost, her singing tbtm ALONE at the end of Act I then being shushed by the explicit Nazi Ludwig is also very nuanced. The scene might feels underwhelming in comparison to other productions, but the constellation is clear: a proletarian suffering under capitalism full of hatred turns to right-extremism, and the right-extremist, while fully aware of the usefulness of rightpopulism, does not like how vocal she is with HER agenda.
Is Kost a lovable character in this production? No.
Is her turning to Nazism a right decision? Hell no.
Is her discontent with the economic system justified? Yes
Is her radicalization understandable? ...Yes
I never liked the simple 'nazi bad ppl were just brainwashed because propaganda was just that good' reasoning for why Nazi-Germany happened. The nuance of how rightpopulist political group exploits the ideology cultivated by (neo-)liberals and libertarians that their is no alternative ecnomic/socio-cultural system beside capitalism should be more present or become a common sense.
The choice of how to present the appeal of Nazism - through music or narrative - is also worth thinking about. The Stuttgart production seems to be intentionally avoiding the asthetic route. tbtm was actually presented twice in Act I. Besides Kost's solo number in the end, their is also this lovely lady/drag-queen Lena aus Essen playing it on a violin rather POORLY. Lena then said: "you weren't expecting this, right?" It is as if the production is encourage the audience to turn their attention to the mundane part of the dangerous (almost sensual in some hollywood films) appeal of Nazism presented by Kost: One would think that a party which doesn't dismiss their suffering and hatred like the current one, and even agrees with their irrational xenophobic/enti-semitic sentiment instead of trying to correct it like the current one, would eventually make their life better.
p.s. I remeber that in the original book Goodbye to Berlin by Isherwood there are actually some communist characters, also scenes about how they ran their activities in underground bars, and of course the indication of their terrible ends when the nazi got into power.

Ooo, so 🎶Skid and Skiddad then?
As you may know, I associate Skid with music like South and generally think of South as his theme song alongside Scary Swings, and now whenever I hear music that sounds even remotely like South I just think of Skid. It’s also been a sort of subheadcanon of mine for a bit that Skid is the slightly more spooky month obsessed one, but for some reason Pump is better at spooky music (Spookeez the song). And of course I’ve stated before that Skid also sings Eerie and Pump does the music, and Pump sings Shiver and Skid does the music.
So then one day I was listening to B-Side Redux Shiver and I just thought something like “lol evil Skid” because my brain has to generate alternate storylines for everything, and then as I was thinking about that I realized;
B Side Shiver is a scarier, darker, more powerful version of the original. It’s mysterious, it tricks you, it’s the spooky week Big Bad. Also people like to think of Monster adopting the boys anyway.
If I associate the original Shiver with Skid, it only seemed right to me that I associate the boss fight Shiver with his dad.
His dad has two music themes to me: sort of tribal sounding music (cult in general) and whatever Skid inherited. The first thing I got from the first song I heard and thought could be a Skiddad song (Come Along by Cosmo Sheldrake, last verse in particular. I mean COME ON DUDE-) and now I just think of him and the cult whenever I hear music like that.
Oh damn that was a lot-
Meh two characters twice the info
