Edward Teach is such a fascinating character to me.

Like, he's objectively abusive towards Izzy. He genuinely loves Izzy. He wants so desperately to be soft, but all he's ever known is violence. He loves Stede so much, but he's so afraid of doing things wrong with him, but he's never even known what the right way of doing things is.

He's impulsive. He's whim-prone. He gets bored with stagnation.

He wants a life with a partner. He wants love. He wants to be cherished. He wants to love as much as he wants to be loved in return.

He's violent and he's soft and he's desperate for affection and he's bad at receiving it. He mirrors the man he loves when it comes to learning the right way to love and be loved.

He's sweet and he's chaotic and he's so very bipolar (as in genuinely bipolar) and he doesn't know how to be just one thing.

I dunno. I love him. He's so fascinating to me

I’ve come to realize I heavily relate Helsknight to Odysseus and I genuinely have no idea why. I fear it is becoming a problem (Tbf it’s probably Epic’s fault but I am so confused where the correlation came from)

I dunno, I can see some of the parallels, especially in Epic's version, which is inherently a tragedy.

Both characters are strong warriors, skilled in their craft and decently smart [I would argue Odysseus leans really hard into cleverness, while Helsknight leans heavier into the idea of strategic knowledge. One leverages knowledge, the other leverages strength.]

Both characters are inherently protagonistic while still having obvious fatal flaws. [Helsknight is prone to giving into his anger, something often spurred by pride and resentment, the idea of might is right, I know better and I wish I could force you to agree. Odysseus is prone to giving into his pride, too used to his cleverness and guile getting him out of intense situations. See how he tells his name to Polyphemus because teaching a lesson is more important than escaping safely. See how he tries to slide away from taking responsibility for his actions and side-steps apologizing to Poseidon in Ruthlessness.]

On that note, both characters should know better [anger, especially irrational snap-decision anger, never helps Helsknight prove a point. Pride only ever leads to Odysseus losing men, and it's Poseidon's wrath that turns a 2 year trip into a 12 year Odyssey.]

Both have stories centered on fighting something bigger and more powerful than them, and inherently set against them. [Helsknight is against the universe. He knows it will devour him someday, and he fears the inevitable and fights it. Odysseus lives in a world that rewards brute strength and views cleverness as underhanded and dishonorable. In the original myth, Odysseus is an antihero of sorts. He is being punished for the sin of being smart instead of strong. A Real Greek would have killed Polyphemus.]

Both characters are very,,, community minded, power of friendship. Ike "I fight for my friends" meme.

Odysseus from Epic would be a cool voice claim for Helsknight. I personally don't think the voice matches, but it's a good strong male character voice I can see why someone would pick it.

Also, not sure if you listen to the playlists, but there's some Epic songs on the Helsknight playlist lol

W, who has successfully caught the MC's attention and orchestrated a kind of symbolic kiss (Mc's lips on the next letter), who is LITERALLY stealing R's girl/guy/person right from under their nose, brazen and merciless: oh so scary :^)

Oh, I don't believe anyone has remarked on the symbolic kiss aspect of the placement of the W's letter, so I was like: !!! at this ask. That is exactly what they were doing by placing it there, an intimate secret.

I've come to dislike how non Greeks (most likely native English speakers because I've seen this happening mostly by them, but of course they're not the only ones) who have taken like 1 or 2 years of Greek or Ancient Greek at university, carry themselves as they've now become very educated on the language and the culture as well, and they're treated as such by everyone!

Like, I believe Tom Hiddleston claims to speak Ancient Greek, or maybe others have claimed that for him but, my dude, the Erasmian pronunciation is wrong.

And just last night, I finished Stephen Fry's book called Mythos and in the end, there is a guide on how to pronounce the names which can be limited to "Just do it the way it's easier for you, Greeks do it their way, Brits and Americans do it their way, there is no correct answer." No. I've been taking English lessons since I was 3, but still mispronounce and mispell a lot of stuff. You don't see me coming and making comments on the correct way to speak English, so maybe don't comment on the correct way to speak Greek, since you're not a native speaker.

And last but not least, dishonorable mention to the author Monica Gutierrez, who in one of her books, through a character that, if I'm not mistaken, is an archaeologist, says that the Parthenon Marbles that were stolen from us and are currently in the British museum don't have to return to Greece, because 'they belong to the whole world'. They belong to the whole world, but they were made here, and I, a Greek person, have to buy a ticket to England in order to see them, because a British smuggler got the permission to take them away, by the people who had us enslaved for 4 centuries. And to this day, the British keep on using stupid excuses because they don't want to give them back!

And yet, those are the people whose voices and work will get picked over the work of actual native people. For example, there is a Greek youtuber that is an archaeologist and makes videos about mythology (sometimes he does videos on Scandinavian and Egyptian mythologies too, I hope those are accurate) and ancient art and he has just released a book. I highly doubt his book will get picked by publishers, to get translated in other languages and be released outside of Greece, even though I encourage you to check him out.

I don't claim that this happens only to Greek people/language/culture, but it's the only one I can comment on ☺
