My observations after running this blog for a month

I have observed trends relating to multiple fandoms and how they behave/interact with my polls here's some examples. I hope someone finds this entertaining as I did. Because I do read most of the comments and tags

Black Butler, Jujutsu Kaisen and Dorohedoro. You guys are the most insane, feral, unhinged and I have debated marking my post as mature content simply because I knew what you will put in your tags and comment. I worry about you people sometimes Because I do read what you put in those comments and tags and now I know what you will allow these characters to do to you and what you want to do to them. (This also applies certain specific characters from other fandoms) But you three. My little unhinged trio. It's just fandom wide. Doesn't matter the character. You will go crazy. It's entertaining to watch. Don't get me wrong but I hope everyone is doing okay

One piece You guys request a lot and show up. You guys also like meme and cursed polls. Yes they are funny most of the time and you guys have plenty of characters to choose from for the meme and cursed variety. But your fandom also has a list of characters that fall under the should I mark this as mature content because of what is inevitably going to end up in the tags and comments. Because I have seen your characters referred to as "daddy" or "mommy" Way more than JJK or the other two members of the unhinged trio and those fandoms are way more crazy collectively.

Trigun is the most loyal ride or die fandom that will show up for any poll with one of their characters no matter what. With a level of enthusiasm that is impressive but lacks the pure crazy of the unhinged trio

Mob Psycho 100 I've only had one character submitted from your show but you guys show up almost as much as Trigun but I don't know if that loyalty translates to other characters

Jojo you guys either show up and vote and reblog quietly or are just as bad as the unhinged trio 50/50 chance also depends on the character so I never know what to expect.

Now Attack on Titan. Is that fandom alive? Because I have gotten a few requests to do their characters but they have never shown up to defend their character. Which is funny because they're still in the top 20 anime and Manga fandom charts. But as far as I can tell the fandom does not exist or they're invisible so are you guys doing okay? I know the final season was supposed to be traumatic or something but I mean so was JJK season 2 and it just turned that fandom into an unhinged mess so you all should be fine or at least have a pulse. Do you guys need to speak to the Hannibal fandom for support? I mean they're still alive all these years later even after their tragic ending.

Hunter x Hunter You're a fandom that shows up consistently. Vote and reblog but you don't make a scene. That's all I can really say. It's very similar to how the Trigun fandom behaves but not quite the same enthusiasm as Trigun that is ride or die no matter the character

Fate is another fandom where you either show up or you don't. There is no in between. I wonder if it depends on the character. But I don't know. There just hasn't been enough polls

Soul Eater. You guys are unhinged only when it comes to Stein any other character I don't know but Stein 100% ride or die.

Dungeon Meshi very similar to JoJo except if it's Senshi or Falin guaranteed you guys will be just as bad if not worse than the unhinged trio any other character there's a chance you might not show up at all

Now to all the people who find the Senshi polls annoying. I would like to apologize for the monster I mean meme I accidentally created. It was never my intention for this to get out of hand I hope you can forgive me one day. But apparently they're going to kill King Charles. I still don't get it I might be getting old

If I haven't mentioned your fandom, it's probably because your characters don't get submitted enough for me to notice a trend but I will be watching. This is just what I've observed so far I hope you enjoyed my observations. I found these trends interesting

I hope you enjoyed yourself 💛 IDK how old you turned but here's to another year around the sun. I don't really do new years' resolutions, but, on my birthday each year, I think about how I want to spend the next year of my life. I hope your next year is extra special.

I haven't quite answered this so please see below!

⚠️ Spoiler warning for Banana Fish anime and Attack on Titan through series end.

CHARACTERS

Aslan Jade Callenreese - Because of COURSE he is. Plenty of places to read about why that is but just know, he is precious and I know he deserved better.

Shorter Wong - Just a funny lil guy. But to know the walls that would have divided Ash and Shorter which they would have broken down to have such trust and peace between them makes everything that happened that much more devastating.

Eiji Okumura - To paint Eiji as some harmless little cinnamon roll does his character such an injustice. He was gentle but he was fearless and could be fierce and had such a teasing sense of humor. I adore him for who he was to Ash but also because he could be sassy and obstinate.

Jessica Randy - Bad bitch with a gun. Adore her for being just as mean as Ash and not treating him like glass but also being sympathetic in those moments where they really connect.

MOMENTS

Admittedly, I wound up having to stop watching Banana Fish part way through because it was so devastating and I was triggered. ✨ Took a month long break before I finished it and I have not watched it since. It just haunts me. I thought I'd read the manga but haven't brought myself to though I did buy Vol. 19 so I could get some closure.

Ash and Eiji's immediate gravitation toward one another from him just giving Eiji his gun?? and from the way he watched with awe how Eiji pole vaulted over fence and effectively saving them. Such a funny way to set up such an unlikely but perfect pair.

Ash shooting from atop the truck and everyone retreating into the Manhattan? river.. THE WAY SHORTER INSTINCTIVELY GRABBED EIJI?

Ash showing Eiji how to shoot in Connecticut, the way he softened up like they were just kids playing but then immediately had to retreat back to being Ash Lynx when he noticed other people watching.

How, even in his betrayal, Shorter did what he could to protect Eiji while in the mansion.

When they busted Ash out of the mansion, that moment of clarity when he realized Eiji was there for him.

Jack-o-Lanterns.

Every single father son moment Ash had with Max.

The moment Max burned Ash's photos. I could actually bawl right now thinking about it?

Yut Lung's revenge on his brothers.

Ash's triumph over Rick Fox.

CHARACTERS (have a funny way of not making it to the end of the series, huh?)

Levi Ackerman - I think I just like people who are burdened and damned.

Hange Zoe - Their personality did not fit the confines of life behind the walls and yet.. there they were. Brilliant, quirky, compassionate and curious. But eventually carried the weight of the whole world which blotted out their smile.

Sasha Braus, Connie Springer, Jean Kirstein - My favorite trio. From Jean's artistry, to Connie's horrible comedic timing and Sasha's insatiable hunger. Just a recipe for hilarity.

Mikasa Ackerman - Admittedly, she lost her edge and appeal later in the series which is such a shame. I mean, they brought it back for the ending but just feel like her being this OP bad ass could have had a personality consistently to match.

MOMENTS

Attack on Titan had such exquisite exposition. This is definitely a series I always wish I could watch and read for the first time again. From the world building to the fact that, just when you get settled into understanding everything, your perspective on that world is completely rearranged. Now as a veteran watcher, crazy to find all the easter eggs that were hidden in plain sight.

The reveal at Utgard tower + their success in the box - As their first line of defense is fighting against dwindling stamina and dulling blades. Offset by the impossible odds of the newbie squads' success. Devastating.

Flegel Reeves' takes on the MP's - THE REVEAL. Also, what a way to emphasize their corruption in front of those shitty run down buildings. It was such a heart swelling moment.

Levi vs. Kenny in the city - their backstory and the animation of him flitting around and dodging bullets.

Battle at Shinganshina - From Erwin's incredible speech, Connie's awful joke and the difficult decision Levi had to make. SO MUCH. Such a phenomenal succession of chaos, honestly.

THE MARLEYAN REVEAL. Bro, are you kidding me??? With a whole new understanding of oppression and classism within the world.

The scouts experiencing life outside of the walls - Especially the clowns, the cars and the ice cream.

Massacre in Marley - The chaos of the attack on Willy Tybur's play to recapture Eren but also showcase the growth of the Scouts in Paradis and the fact that their freedom still came at the cost of other people who also weren't free.

Sasha Braus' Murderer's reveal - Gabi and Falco finding their way to the Braus' was one thing. But to be turned upon by someone who wanted to help them get back home and the only Maryleyan they met because of Sasha while being spared by her father? What a turning point.

Ymir's origin story and how that devolved into the world her descendants suffer in now.

FINDING OUT EREN WAS BEHIND EVERYTHING!? Even the death of his own mother and the slaughter of the royal family perpetrated by his father. All to engineer a future where he, too, knowingly would be killed. Knowing this and rewatching it just... it was there all along.

ALSO Levi Ackerman's back story from the OVA - man has been suffering since birth.

Recalling all of this makes me want to rewatch AOT again, TBH.

No Attack on Titan: Junior High manga. I started reading it, it pissed me off, I stopped reading it, we’re not gonna talk about it.

Spoof on Titan Manga -this is so silly and ridiculous that it makes me smile -omg, armin thinks eren and mikasa got married

Attack on Titan: No Regrets Manga -hello husband- err, i mean, hello levi-heichou -it was brought to my attention that levi seems to be the only one that holds his swords pointing backwards, and i don't know if a spin-off is a good way to verify this, but i'm keeping an eye out -not levi's face in the the mud! it's dirtyyyy -ERWIN KNEELING IN THE MUD, EQUAL TO LEVI ARGH (mud? sewage water?) -LEVI I MISSED YOU! I KNOW THERE HASN'T BEEN A DAY THAT I HAVEN'T ~SEEN YOU FOR MONTHS NOW, BUT I MISSED YOU -HANGEEEE! DO YOU KNOW?! CAN YOU FEEL IT?! CAN YOU FEEL HOW CLOSE YOU'LL GET TO BE, YOU AND LEVI? -ugh, levi loves isabel and furlan so much -mmhm, mmhm, the three great ships of aot, eren/mikasa, mikasa/ice cream, and levi/cleaning products. -HAHA YEAH, THEY EVEN MAKE A POINT OF LEVI HOLDING THE SWORDS BACKWARD, SO COOL (why am i so enthusiastic, aot what have you done to me) -it's funny, but. eren points out that he's surprised levi follows orders, but we see here that no, he doesn't, it's erwin that he follows (in the future). i mean, that's in aot itself, but. it's here too. -i think suruga-san nails the essence and key mannerisms and expressions of levi -"erwin smith: he has his eye on levi, with a certain goal in mind." cough. yes. i'm, er. i'm sure. -no mourners, no funerals. er- wrong story. -even isayama had a feeling levi would be popular, like. levi transcends his creator -yeah, i enjoyed this! it adds to the narrative without damaging the main story, it's pretty character-accurate, the new characters are interesting, it has cool panels! yeah, valuable addition!

Attack on Titan: Junior High Anime -cute, funny, and if not for anything else, 100% worth watching for the voice acting -they way the VAs are doing their serious-voice acting with these lines... respect, man. it's like listening to aot, except the words don't quite add up lmao -LMFAO THE LEVI POSTER IN OLUO'S ROOM!

Attack on Titan - the OVA eps -omggg wit era, old-school aot -man, how could anyone ever not love hange -it's a nice touch that they replaced eren with jean in the ep of jean's episode, but all i can think of is eren screaming at the animators and threatening to bite his hand -reiner got through hell just to end up getting slapped by sasha over a boar, and you know what, that's wonderful -i'm sorry, why is this so desert. why are there cacti, that feels odd -it's a good thing "distress" is OVA, because this doesn't feel like eren. he feels eren-adjacent. -HELLO HUSBAND! 'TIS HIM! 'TIS THE BEYBLADE! 'TIS LEVI-SAMA -dude the underground design is so interesting though -?? you're not gonna show how isabel and furlan died?? i prefer the story version of the manga. -i didn't really care about annie's completely random side-story, and as for mikasa's episode, well... it exists. it's a thing that exists. that's all i have to say on that.

TAG GAME: EIGHT SHOWS TO GET TO KNOW ME

disclaimer: lots of anime recs here HAHAHA im a weeb. also idk how else to describe stuff sometimes HJDSFKJSDHKF it's just different iterations of "wow im floored. watch it." or "this fundamentally changed me as a person."

Code Geass - Brings back memories of senior year in high school where I binged all 25 episodes of the first season during finals week, then binged all 25 episodes of the second season the next week. Season 1 was eh but it was building up for the actual bone-deep pain of Season 2. The Zero Requiem finale still hits man, it's such a perfect way to end the series. Why are mecha animes so steeped in heavy politics. Good for them! Also the Pizza Hut placements were great (we love you Cheese-kun).

Mob Psycho 100 - AMAZING ANIMATION. AMAZING STORYTELLING. WHOLESOME HIGH SCHOOLERS GOING THROUGH THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS OF LIFE WHILE ALSO HAVING THE MOST POWERFUL PSYCHIC ABILITIES. Genuinely feel-good, so many inspirational quotes in here. Made me cry on some occasions because I didn't expect to hear the words I needed to hear from a shounen anime of all things. Also Reigen is babygirl for a REASON.

Peaky Blinders - Where do I start. I like period dramas, and the premise intrigued me. Season 1 is so damaging to me in so many ways like I don't think any other show could get as perfect as those six episodes AAAAA IM SO ATTACHED TO IT. The whole cast are phenomenal and they really carried the show, and the song features are so good too. Also Cillian Murphy is so hot goddamn.

The Promised Neverland - DO NOT WATCH THE SECOND SEASON. Anyway. I read the manga so I know how the rest of the plot goes, but Season 1 is such an amazing display of psychological horror. The visceral fear of realizing Isabella is always one step ahead of the kids, and just generally trying outpace her while acting like everything's normal. Wow.

Attack on Titan - lol. I don't really care much about the new series anymore, but back in 2013 this was the first anime I properly watched (and the rest of the world had its dick and balls gripped by the Salute™ and the Wings of Freedom™ too). I guess I was pretty fucked up as a kid for thinking I had the balls to join the Survey Corps and could live to tell the tale. Formative anime of all time actually.

Avatar: The Last Airbender - A childhood classic. What else do I say, it's just perfect. Amazing. Fantastic. Spectacular. I have official books of that franchise: all four of The Lost Scrolls, one of the Journey Through The Earth Kingdom books, and the Tales of Zuko book. It's just so dear and close to my heart, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Adventure Time - Another childhood classic. I think I watched every episode up until the first few episodes of Season 5, then I just stopped caring SHDFJSJKFH. BUT. But, it's also still very meaningful to me, it's an amazing combination of fun but also unintentionally dark. I should pick up on it again when I have the time, honestly.

Bungou Stray Dogs - I haven't touched anything related to this anime since 2019 but this is really that one show that shaped me for a long while, mostly because I met my internet friends because of this show, and my first few days on Twitter was dedicated to being a BSD fan. The whole concept too of characters based off famous classic authors with abilities names after their most famous works is really a banger, it made me a reader again.

I would have to choose... Light Yagami...

Lemme explain.

(Btw, I mostly based this off of their canon personalities. Also, be free to correct me though because I haven't watched/read Death Note and Attack on Titan in a long time)

Canonically, both Light and Eren are morally fucked up. They killed A LOT of people and while Eren killed more (committed genocide and killed a million+ lives), I still think Light is way worse. I don't know how many people Light killed, but if he had the power to kill a huge amount of people in one attack like Eren with the Rumbling, he definitely would've taken it. The only reason he never got to commit genocide was because writing down 1,000,000+ names in one sitting would fuck up his hand for sure 💀

Light has a god complex and the anime/manga makes this very obvious since he's always going around saying shit like "see what happens to those who oppose the god of the new world".

If he were a yandere, he would see himself as above whoever his unfortunate darling is. He would be so narcissistic, only concerned with his needs and wants and not his darling. Plus, if they ever disobeyed him, he could easily kill their loved ones just by writing their names into the Death Note. That's terrifying.

Of course, Eren's terrifying too, but one thing that makes him just a slight better than Light is his ability to care about people.

Throughout Death Note, I couldn't find (or remember hehe) anyone that Light genuinely cared about. He used everyone around him including his own family and didn't care when his actions harmed them. He was basically a spoiled brat who had already had everything handed to him; he was a genius, had loving family, a little sister that looked up to him, the school admired him, etc etc. He had a good life before the Death Note, yet still treated everyone like shit.

Meanwhile, Eren fiercely cared about his family and friends. His life was absolute shit, he watched people he loved die brutally. Of course he would furious about that, but his response to it was to fight back with even more violence in order to end their suffering.

If he were a yandere, I can see him being overprotective and controlling. He might see himself as above his darling (in an "I know better than you, so you should listen to me" kinda way), but he won't be narcissistic about it at least.

So...

Light as a yandere:

Abusive, narcissistic, god complex, will treat his darling like shit, dehumanize his darling, threaten loved ones with the Death Note, would definitely love having authority over them (super controlling), genuinely does not care about their wellbeing.

Eren as a yandere:

Abusive, overprotective, controlling, delusional (would probs believe that everyone's a danger to them), obsessive, might??? not threaten loved ones (because he understands how precious friends and family are), and will genuinely care about their wellbeing but doesn't believe that they can take care of themselves so he does it for them.

hi! i'm skylar! this is just going to be a place where i dump all of my thoughts. it's probably going to end up being a place where i just nerd out about all of the things that i'm literally OBSESSED with lol. therefore be forewarned that most of my posts are probably going to be pretty long, even this one. what can i say, when i nerd out, i NERD OUT lol. i'm just going to put a list of things that i will probably be talking about on here so if you like any of the things that i list below, you can interact with me if you want. i would also like to preface this by saying that i'm very new to tumblr and honestly a lot of the things on my list so please bear with me and feel free to educate me as well. i'm also not planning on making any of this look "aesthetic" although i would love to. it's too much work lol. ok with that out of the way here are the things (there's a HIGH likelihood that i'm going to forget some things but this is just a general list):

anime: i'm not super new to the community, i've been watching anime for about a year at this point. but i have a SUPER short attention span and not a lot of motivation when i watch any show, anime or other. so i've only watched two animes, attack on titan (i'm actually almost done with it!) and my hero academia (i think i just started season four). but it's been about a month since i've watched any anime. there are a lot of animes that i want to watch, and since i usually don't care about spoilers, i actually like them, i know a lot about them already from twitter and stuff.

genshin: i'm very new to the community, like i just started getting into it a few days ago. i'm not much of a gamer, and i don't have a pc, so i tried playing it on my phone, but one, i don't have that much storage, and two, I SUCKED. so i don't think i'm going to play it anymore. plus, i'm much more interested in the lore than the gameplay. i've watched like half of a four hour lore recap video on youtube, it was like seven months old or something so it doesn't have a lot of stuff, and i'm just going to be completely honest, i was zoned out like half the time i was watching the video. i've seen some stuff on twitter and stuff though.

lost in the clouds: one thing about me is that i LOVE bl. and don't worry, i don't like any of the weird tropes, like student x teacher or incest or other tropes like that. i like the more wholesome bls like given. i'm also not a super big fan of reading. if i come across a manga or manhwa or something that i like, i usually just watch the adaptation. but lost in the clouds doesn't have an adaptation, and i really liked it, i mean, the main character has the same name as me! and it's spelled the same too, usually skylar is spelled with an e! anyways, i decided that i wanted to read the manhwa because i liked it so much. i'm only on chapter five though and i haven't read it in like a month, because like i said, i'm not much of a reader. the only things that i read are fanfics lol. and even so i prefer oneshots over longer ones because they are less commitment.

redacted asmr: this is the only thing on this list that i would go so far as to say that i have a decent amount of knowledge on it lol. i started listening to redacted in february and absolutely fell in love with every aspect of him and his audios. his voice, his characters, the relationships that the characters have with their listeners and each other, how everything is connected, his writing, how smart he is with everything, i could go on forever. i stopped listening to his audios a few audios in to hot boi summer because those kinds of audios aren't really my cup of tea. so i haven't listened to his most recent audio, but that's the plan for tonight!

vtubers: i started watching vtubers a few months ago, i can't exactly remember when. i mainly watch nijisanji. i started with nijisanji en and shxtou because well, i speak english and i don't know if i could be entertained by one of the non english speaking livers, just because i wouldn't know what they're saying (obviously). i started branching out to the other nijisanji livers that as far as i can tell frequently stream in english, like bonnie. and i may started to branch out to the non english speaking nijisanji livers, but if i do i'll probably only watch clips with english subs so you know, i can actually understand what they're saying lol. i've also started watching other smaller livers like komai rui.

so those are the things that i'll probably be posting about on here. if you like any of them, please feel free to interact with me if you want. as you can probably tell, i love talking about the things that i like.

| Spoilers for season 2 |

You and Mikasa are already on your horses. You're looking at the huge gate in front of you and you can't help but feel sad.

This sadness always came to you randomly but, how can you not feel sad at a time like this?

You were going on your first expedition with the Servey Crops. You were a part of the top 10 soldiers of the 104th cadet squad. You threw away the chance of living a peaceful life in Wall Sina because you wanted your life and your death to have a meaning.

Before you could start doubting yourself your thoughts were cut through from the sound of the gate opening revealing the outside world.

Mikasa gave you one last look that held all her love, a look that is only ment for you to see, before Erwin gave the signal and so many men and women started riding towards their death.

You were placed in the same squad as Armin, it was refreshing to know that you had one of the smartest people on your squad.

The expedition was going quite smoothly but you felt a really wierd feeling. Was it worry ? Were you scared for Mikasa's safety? Or yours ? You didn't know.

A few minutes after that you heard a familiar ramble shake the earth.

' A Titan ' You thought quickly and got your gun out ready to shoot a flare, but you didn't expect to see a 14 metre tall abnormal Titan running towards the field.

' This isn't like the others. It looks like a woman. Where is it running to ? '

While you were lost in thought you caught a glimpse of black roar through the sky.

Armin shot the flare.

' Wasn't I supposed to do that. I'm getting lost in my head again aren't I ? Wake up Y/N ! It's not time for daydream now. '

That's the last think you remember before all you could see was white and red.

The abnormal Titan started attacking. So many of your friends, people you knew, died in front of your eyes.

You were knocked off your horse and your left leg hurt a lot. You looked around you and felt happy when you saw that Armin, Jean and Reiner were fine.

When you looked at their faces you could tell that they were screaming something at you.

You can't remember what. You couldn't hear them.

They all watched in terror as the Female Titan knelt next to you and reached its hand to grab you.

You thought that this were your last moments but then she flashed through your mind.

Mikasa.....

You remembered all the happy moments you lived with her. The nights you sat on the roof and looked at the stars. The times you trained together. Then a certain day came through your mind.

That day at wall Rose. When hell broke loose. When the Colossal Titan made it's appearance once again.

Eren was supposed to be dead. Mikasa thought that there wasn't anything left for her in the world.

But then you remembered that she didn't give up. She fought till the very end even when everything seemed helpless. You weren't going to die like a coward, screaming in pain as this stupid Titan ends your life. No, you're going to fight.

' Because this world is cruel but also beautiful ' .

With the strength left in your body you sliced the Titan's hand and propelled your self in the sky.

You though you heard Armin tell you ' Y/N leave it alone come on! ' or something like that. While flying in the sky you caught his eye. You gave him a look that said ' Goodbye Armin, take care of Mika for me 'kay ? '

After that you charged towards the Titan but it just slapped you away like you were a bug.

Hitting the solid ground didn't hurt as much as you thought it would. Maybe because you're already dead..... You don't care.

You only cared about Mikasa right now.

' I know you're going to be okay and when you have lived your life we're going to meet again, my love. '

This whole expedition was worse than anything else Mikasa has ever seen. So much death and sadness. Even after the expedition ended there's still so much pain and sorrow in the air. The one's that survived are now crying over their dead friends.

All she wants right now is to be in your arms. Just like you did every time she was feeling sad.

But now she can't anymore.

Armin found the courage to tell her. Anyone who doesn't know her would say that she didn't care but Armin knew, it was just like that day when he told her about Eren. He was feeling relieved when he realised that there wasn't anything reckless she can do this time. He knew Mikasa would be sad after you left but he can't let her drown in her sorrow.

He gave a promise to you, that he'll protect her and he isn't going to brake his promise now or ever.

It has been several days after the expedition.

The world is moving on as if nothing happened.

Amd it's cruel and it hurts her.

But once again there's nothing she can do to stop it.

She fought again and again with all the power in her body and soul but she still lost everything she ever cared for.

'Is the world going to take everything from me? Will everything I touch turn to ashes and blood? Who's next, Armin or prehaps Eren?'

Those thoughts still cloud her mind. She can feel them eating her insides.

She looks up in the stary night sky.

"What am I supposed to do without you my love? Why was such a young and sweet girl taken from this workd again?"

She can imagine your answer, almost hearing your voice.

'There are people you can talk to. Friends and family. Trust them, let them help you. You might bave lost me but there are still so much you have in this world. Don't let the darkness in your head tell you otherwise and don't let your grief blind your decisions Mikasa. Besides even if I'm gone I'll always be in your heart. I'm a part of you now, always haw been. We'll stay together forever no matter what. That's the promise we made right?'

Mikasa smiled and felt a lonely tear slide down her cheek.

"I love you, now and forever."

• Annie •

| Spoilers for season 3 |

You were both excited and scared to be were you are right now.

Standing at the top of wall Rose looking in the sea of green in front of you.

You wanted this to be over so you can join the servey corps, even though your girlfriend Annie will join the military police.

You love her with your whole heart and you know she feels the same but you can't give up on your dreams so easily.

Unlike the infamous trio from Shingashina, you wanted the servay crops to feel free. You wanted to fly.

You didn't know why Annie wanted to join the military police. You remember when you asked yesterday, her hand was on top of yours and her head was resting on your shoulder. She didn't look at you. She only said 'it's for my father'

Your thoughts were interrupted by a huge gash of heated steam.

You easily dodged the flying debris frim the wall and landed on the top of a roof.

All hell broke loose that day.

You were trying to find Annie, her safety being your first priority, while killing some titans along the way.

Instead of Annie you saw Reiner and Bearhtold.

There's no way I wrote his name right but bare with me

They're good friends with Annie so you decide d to approach them.

You climbed up the roof and saw them wishpering about something.

What you heard next made your heart stop. You felt cold sweat run down your temple as you tried to collect your thoughts.

'Her friends. Her goddamn friends betrayed her. They betrayed us.'

You couldn't think clearly.

You charged at them swinging your dabble blades over their heads.

They were faster than you thought.

Rainer pushed you on a small balcony and pressed you against the cold ground.

Bearhtold came after a few seconds and staryed removing your ODM gear.

"I'll kill you, you bastards! You hear me?! You're dead!"

That's all you could think about, even when a titan grabed you, you kept screaming those words at them.

Soon enough your screams died down and Reiner looked at his friend with a horrified expression.

"Hey Bearhtold, why is Y/N getting eaten?"

Bearhtold didn't answer his question, he jsut kept looking forward.

Reiner followed his gaze.

She was standing there, on her knees mouth open on a silent scream.

Tears were running down her bruised cheeks.

'Why do I feel so sad? Why does it hurt so bad? She was one of the strongest soldiers therefore a threat to the mission. I got close to her just because it would make it easier for me to kill her. So why? I didn't love her. No, this just perfect. As soon as I'm done with this I'll go back to my father.'

She closed her eyes but what she saw only made her hate her self more.

All of the memories she made with you.

Your beautiful laugh, your E/C eyes shining with determination.

You always felt warm. You gave the best hugs ever, maybe that's because she hasn't been hugged by many people but when your hands were running down her back and she felt at ease.

You kissed a few times. Your lips were so soft. She felt like she was kissing the warm blanket she used to have back home.

The last thing she saw was you flying in a forest with huge trees. You always had this weird dream about flying. You said it made you feel free. Even though Annie couldn't see your face she new that damn smile was on your face.

"You're finally free Y/N."

• Pieck •

You are one of Marley's greatest lieutenants. Your mother was from Marley but you father was an Eldian. Something you fortunately managed to keep a secret.

This way you climbed up the rankings way faster than anyone else.

That's how you met her.

You, a prodigy in the Marleyan army and she one of the children that would inherit the powers of the titans.

Even though you grew up in Marley and you are supposed to hate the people of that island you just want this to stop.

Eldians never actually bothered you. Everyone seemed so stupid for fearing them. Especially when Marley is the one constantly attacking them.

Now though, the war between the two nations, the war between the whole world, has started.

Eren Yeager and his friends attacked Liberio. You're hometown. The hometown of numerous people who have now lost either their homes or their loved ones. The hometown of people who couldn't walk in it's streets anymore, or make new memories or even live their own lives.

And you are furious about it.

You want to laugh for being so naive. For thinking that this conflict could just magically disappear.

You wanted to scream and kill all the Eldians that disturbed your peace.

But you didn't.

Because you were frozen from fear.

You just realized that you've never seen a titan before.

You've been dating a titan shifter for 2 years and the others were basically your family.

You knew they would be big, they're called titans for a reason.

But you never knew they would be so........... Terrifying.

Somehow you managed to move your legs and finally do something.

'Pieck I must find her. She's one of the shifters so they're most likely targeting her. Thankfully they're least likely to know her strategies and her potential because she wasn't in the front lines of the mission. She still had to jump in to save Zeke. The only one that saw her, is Levi Ackerman, that's what she said his name was. I don't know him anyway.'

As you were running you saw Pieck already in her titan form her gear in place, the soldiers inside shooting at the Eldians.

'That's some fancy ass gear.'

You had to walk while those people were flying. And Marley was supposed to be the technologically advanced nation. Bullshit.

'This is taking to long. Damnit! I have to find a way to get to her faster. She's going to be surrounded in a few minutes and the soldiers in the tank will be in a tough spot. Even though I don't think anything can reach them in there.'

The moment this though left your brain you heard a gun shot. You looked towards the target and saw that one of the soldiers in Pieck's tank was dead.

You recognized one of the recruits that's in the area as well as two gate guards. Gabi, Reiner's relative.

"Braun! What are you doing here?! Take cover and get out of the-"

Another gun shot rung through the air and then another one. Both guards were shot dead.

You finally looked at the attacker. A girl with brown hair and brown eyes. You didn't know her name. Reiner haven't mentioned her, or has he?

After the gun shots a huge mass crashed down on the pavement next to you. You realized that this mass was actually Pieck's titan form.

You sprinted towards her and tried to separate her from the titan corpse.

"Y/N?" Pieck said with her,as usual, calm voice.

"Yeah, it's me. I'm here babe, I'll get you to safety. Commander Magath is waiting for you and Galliard."

"Lieutenant Y/L/N! Watch out!"

When you heard Gabi's voice you turned around a saw an Eldian flying towards you with a weird looking spear at hand.

"Jean! Shoot! It's our only chance to take the Jaw down!" You heard one of the other Eldians, one with a shaved head, say.

He hesitated. You could see it in his eyes.

That's why another Eldian decided to do it for him.

It all happened so fast, the gun shot, Pieck's scream, the blood gushing out of your body.

Right on the heart. Bull's eye.

'It's probably that girl again. Damn, she's good. Heh, what the hell am I even thinking? I'm dying right now.'

"Y/N, hold on! I'll save you! Where's the commander? I'll take you to him and then we can-"

"I-I...... I love you."

You can feel her tears on your cheek. You want to wipe them away so bad.

You can't.

"I'm sorry I'm leaving so early Pieck."

"It's ok. I...... I love you too."

That was the last thing you heard, before the world turned black.

"I swear, I will never forget you Y/N"

Anything thoughts on big shonen series like One piece or Naruto?

One Piece: Probably the best plotted manga, if not the best manga, out there, currently in publication or otherwise, just in terms of plot setup and payoff. I have not done well keeping up with the manga and anime, so I am ignorant about a lot of what is going on right now, so I can't speak very well regarding the anime's pacing and some animation problems and animation highlights.

Naruto: I wish I had kept up on the series, as I have some thoughts about Naruto's role as a trickster--although that obviously has changed by the time we get to Boruto. I just haven't gotten into Boruto, the anime (when it was on Toonami) or the manga.

And for a few others:

Dragon Ball: I pretty much really like only Super for its tighter plot (yes, even that way-too-long tournament finale), more time engaging with the characters, animation that at least to me was easier to follow and cleaner, and a good portion of Saiyaman thrown in. I do wish Vidal was brought back for more fighting, though.

My Hero Academia: I have been struggling to get through a lot of it since the Meta Liberation Army Arc, in terms of trying to figure out, "Is this too dark?" "Does the animation seem limited in the anime because they were busy working on the third film?" "Should we be getting back to the high school stuff or is that no longer relevant?" and "Is the pacing off or rushed?" Add to all of this that the spinoff manga Vigilantes has taken a long time to wrap up and has the same "fridge a woman character" problem that the main manga has had.

Bleach: I lost track. I think I saw the final episodes of the first anime when they were on Toonami, and I just didn't feel much.

Haikyu: I enjoyed a lot of what I saw in the anime and the manga--but then I skipped to the manga's finale, which spoiled a lot of anticipation for me, which is my fault, but it does speak to a problem I have with sports-focused series: once you know the outcome, it's kind of hard to ever feel interested in re-reading or re-watching it (barring some sports series like Hajime No Ippo / Fighting Spirit).

Gintama: I did not think I would enjoy that series as much as I have. There are definitely problematic parts of it, although I think for the most part the show matures beyond those parts and gets better. I wasn't satisfied with where the anime ended: yeah, it's obvious the adaptation wasn't done yet, but that was such a troll ending. At least there is a real finale in the new film...Too bad COVID is making sure I'm not about to set foot in a movie theater to see it. So, I'm stuck waiting for that film (and the second live action film) to get official home video releases.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba and Black Clover: I am so behind on both of these and don't feel comfortable commenting on them without a re-read and a re-watch.

Attack on Titan: I'm ambivalent, especially given its politics. Granted, it's debatable whether it's shonen.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Can something be too bizarre that you struggle to keep up with the plot intricacies and decide, "I'm just going to sit back and turn my brain off"? Yeah, yeah, I know, I should have figured that much with a title like "bizarre."

Hunter x Hunter and YuYu Hakusho: I struggle to keep up with the former, I really enjoyed the latter on a much later re-watch.

Jujutsu Kaisen: I only wish other series handled the complexities of representing death and loss as well as the story's initial setup did, and how it has continued to approach that topic. I'm not a fan of body horror, so getting through some of it is rough.

And for some lesser appreciated ones:

Magu-chan: God of Destruction: This one is just delightful, relaxing, and funny, like a children's introduction to Lovecraftian horror.

Bungo Stray Dogs: Again, debatable whether this is shonen, but intricate plots, lots of back story to dig into, humorous character interactions, deep lore into the giants of Japanese and United States literature, and some well-animated adaptations from Studio BONES.

I haven't been feeling too good lately. My procrastination's has been worse since the past few weeks. My anxiety is over the roof. Sometimes I needed to cry, just to relieve the pain. And yes, I know I need a professional's help with this. I've been procrastinating that too. What is wrong with me? Is it the pandemic that's making me feel this way? Am I scared to go out of the door because of covid or am I scared of confrontating a doctor?

My heart's beating so fast. Is there any traditional cure for anxiety lol? No one can help me, unfortunately this thing has crawled its way into my brain and set up camp there. The thing is, I know these thoughts are dumb. Idiotic, even. I just can't seem to shut it off.

I wonder, is this the reason I feel the need to be 'productive' in every second of the day?

One of these days I will. I will make that doctor's appointment. Please oh please, I hope I will.

I've been procrastinating excessively these days. Is it because of laziness or just "my work is ending" syndrome? I just feel so unmotivated to do anything. My boss gave me a big task right before I leave haih. Is this the resignation blues people talk about?

You might not have meant to ignore the stuff from me, but I’m telling you it hurts like a bitch. No matter how busy I am, I’m always prepared to help and lend an ear. In a heartbeat. I’ve experienced this heartbreak before and I don’t want history to repeat itself.

I've started to pay a look and organise the recipes. Hopefully, by Saturday evening, I'll have already shared ones with you. Also, I'm thinking about a surprise for you!

So, about the art gallery you live near to, what is it like? What is the new exhibition going to be like? And, do you have a garden where you are currently living?

My ideal pizza is the one with a lot of onion and mushrooms on it! I really love topping my food with mushrooms 🤤🤤🤤

If you ever have the possibility of trying lemon pie ice-cream just do it (insert Shia Labeouf's meme here).

I've never tried blackberries. I don't know if we produce them here (I mean, there surely has to be some farms that do that but they surely are expensive too 😖😣).

I tried raspberries once. Actually, one of my favourite vodka flavours is raspberries 😝🤤! Their taste reminds me of chewing gum! Do you drink alcohol?

I'm really sorry that your Cancun trip didn't go the way you wanted to! But I really hope you can go there! My aunt, uncle and cousins were planning on going there this November. I don't know if their plan is still standing, though!

Again, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOUR FAVOURITE COLOUR IS BLUE. It's mine too!!!! But I haven't think about the exactly blue I like. I should check that out! By the way, your favourite blue is really cute! 💙 I also like green a lottttt!

Between jazz and classical, I'd choose jazz, although I have little to none knowledge about both of them. I only know what I listen from movies or series and that's all. But, if you have suggestions, I'll happy to listen!

I'm a coffee person. Definitely! However, I don't mind at all to try different tea flavours! I sometimes drink strawberry tea and peach tea. I once tried jasmine tea and it was really good! Here, we have something call mate (now that I know how to use hyperlinks I'll be using them a lot 😝). It's a traditional drink! I really like it and we tend to drink it at any time with anyone! If you have the chance, you should try. But I must warn you, it's sometimes really bitter.

But seriously, I'm so thankful for you. You're very sweet to share anything with me; I'm so excited to see what you send for me to make!

The art gallery nearby is pretty amazing. It's four stories filled with art from all over the world, and stories that go along with historical art. They recently installed a bunch of figures from India, and my favorite is of the goddess Kali Ma, who is the Hindu goddess of Time, Creation, Destruction, and Power. I am a huge fan of her in general because her effigy is her standing on her consort, Shiva, who is calm and trying to prevent the world from earthquaking into oblivion with his body because of her victory dance (long story). Her story is pretty neat, too.

ANYWAYS (started ranting there), I don't have a garden where I stay, but there are plenty of parks and things nearby. I have two plants: a bamboo shoot named Luna and a regular house plant named Aethelwulf. They're surviving, which is really nice.

I LOVE MUSHROOMS! I especially love them in omelets. They're so DELICIOUS! But I don't drink. The last time I had anything to drink was in February of 2020. I've been off the sauce since then because I make stupid choices when I decide to drink to get drunk. I also get really bad headaches that aren't hangover-related.

And you like blue and green?? Any specific shade of green??? I am so enthused that your favorite color is blue, too!

I do have some suggestions for classical music: Chopin, Camille Saint-Saens, and Tchaikovsky are some of my favorites. The Nutcracker Suite (Tchaikovsky), The Swan and The Aquarium (Saint-Saens), and all of Chopin's Nocturnes are what I tend to lean towards. OH! and I couldn't leave out Gymnopédie No. 1-3 by Erik Satie. I always feel some sense of nostalgia when I listen to them.

Jazz music? Dianne Schuur's "New York State of Mind" and lofi music are my favorites.

I've never had mate, but I will keep my eyes peeled when I go to the local Latinx market in a few weeks! That sounds like something I would really enjoy. I'm a coffee and tea person, so anything from black tea to green tea to a macchiato is my go-to's. I also love this tea that only comes out once a year in stores. It's called Comfort and Joy by the Republic of Tea. I love it so much that two years ago, I hoarded SEVEN tins of it. I am now down to one tin. *cue the sad music*

Anime and Manga... Well, Jujutsu Kaisen, Prince of Tennis, Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Platinum Garden... Ouran Host Club, Bleach... That's all I've really gotten into in the past years. I'm trying to get into Haikyuu! and My Hero Academia, but I'm also soooooo busy. So maybe I'll watch those during the summer.

This is getting long, but I hope you find something you like. I love you, besto friendo!

To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts - Review!

First review here we go!!

So, after being completely and utterly obsessed with Jujutsu Kaisen and AOT season 4, I decided to check out MAPPA studios and watch a bunch of stuff from their roster. My so-called "MAPPA binge" included this strange and unknown piece: Katsute Kami Datta Kemono-tachi e, or in English, To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts. An adaption of a manga originally released in Bessatsu Shounen (you might recognize this as the magazine that released Attack on Titan!), it looked pretty promising. I do have to admit that I didn't read a page of this anime's manga, though the art style on it looks gorgeous!!

The concept behind the show: A war has torn two halves of a nation apart, split into the North and the South. The Northerners, who were previously greatly outnumbered in battle, created a half-human, half-beast species known as "Incarnates" because of their God-like abilities. But the Incarnates begin having some issues when their beast forms take over their bodies, turning them into monsters. When the war ends, our protagonist, Hugh Hank, an Incarnate and previous captain of the Incarnate squad, swears to kill all of his mutating Incarnate buddies before they can destroy the world.

This review will not contain spoilers until the labeled "Spoiler" section at the bottom.

In general, what do I think?: 4/10, this show kinda sucked. Ouch! I hate being that blunt! Especially on my first review here! But To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts (let's call it TTASB from here on out!) had glaring flaws that, while it did hold up as a show, made it uninteresting and hard to love. Not only were the characters mediocre and boring, but the show seemed to contradict itself and its own opinion of the Incarnates all the time! Are they bloodthirsty monsters that need to be killed? Are they misunderstood humans who should be given peace? I don't know! Our main characters don't seem to either! Other than the "war bad" motif that gets shoved down your throat from episode one, the show felt stagnant in what it was trying to make the audience feel.

I hate being so cynical about it, though, because it does still earn those 4 points! Even though a lot of it falls flat, as a whole, it's still an ok show! Hank and Schaal have good concepts and their dilemmas are interesting in certain parts when the writers manage to nail pits and pieces of their development! The fight scenes were cool and I think that the concept for the world was neat! And the show does have a pretty cool title. Let's be honest, To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts sounds super metal.

So what about those characters?: 5/10! Hugh Hank and Schaal are our two main protags for the show, and they both have pretty interesting concepts! Hank is an Incarnate, he used to be the leader of the other Incarnates, and he made a vow with them that when they lost their minds, he would kill them himself. Schaal is the daughter of one of these Incarnates that fought under Hank. Interesting, right?! How could these two opposing characters get along with one another?

TTASB tries to give the two of them a sort of grumpy-old-mentor-teaches-a-cheery-youngster relationship (which, admittedly, is one of my favorite tropes) and manages to forget everything good about having this kind of relationship. To start, it feels like Schaal has next to no reason to be tolerating Hank, and vice versa. She follows him around because *insert some excuse about understanding the Incarnates?* and Hank lets her because *insert I really don't know*. It really feels like Schaal doesn't need to be there, and she's just a plot device to move along Hank's character development.

Then, the two of them never really interact in ways that really moved me. It never felt like they made a deeper connection that meant something to the plot. They interacted, sure. They spoke about their issues, yeah. But it never felt like Hank needed Schaal, or that Schaal was emotionally tied to Hank, until the show spoonfed it to you that they were.

In the end, neither of their developments felt compelling or interesting. There were a few scenes that maybe, if you squinted, hinted towards them growing as people, but for a 12 episode anime, it was very menial. It also felt like said scenes were fairly forced, with their development not really leading them to the point that they ended up at. Again, TTASB has a bit of an issue with contradicting itself.

The villain was so meh. He has a motive, yeah. It's pretty lame. He's not compelling at all. Nothing about him is interesting or kept me hooked on him. The show probably could've existed without him, to be entirely honest. I don't really have much else to say about him! I just did not really care about him at all.

The best characters in the show are hands-down the supporting cast of Incarnates. Each one has fairly interesting motivations, and even though they're only given an episode or so to tell their stories, they feel the most genuine. My biggest qualm with them is that the show doesn't build their connection to Hugh Hank at all, so when he gets emotional over them, you're kind of like "uhhh u know this guy??". More about this down in our spoilers section, as I'll go over a scene where this is prominent.

So characters were meh, but what about the story itself?: 4/10, just as meh. Again, very interesting! Lots of potential! But it fell flat where it mattered. To be clear, just before we dig deeper: the 12 episodes of TTASB isn't the entire story. It's clearly intended to be continued, though, as of writing this, I haven't been able to dig up any news about a potential season 2.

I don't really mind if animes aren't completely original, as long as they're fun, but TTASB didn't really do that. A lot of the episodes felt boring and reused like it was a watered-down copy-paste of other material. Some episodes were repetitive and seemed to be trying to hammer in the same themes, only to be later contradicted by other episodes. TTASB will spend a few episodes showing you how misunderstood and sweet the Incarnates are and then have an episode where an Incarnate murders a bunch of people. I would love it if it was, in any way, shape, or form, sarcastic, but it is not. TTASB just thinks it can get away with the blatant disregarding of its own morals. It only ends up feeling disconnecting and frustrating.

It follows an almost monster-of-the-week style format for introducing the Incarnates, which does them a bit of a disservice, in my opinion. I really would have liked it if there was a bit more overlap between the Incarnates and their stories! We know that they're all very close (or, at least, the show tells us that they are without really showing us) so seeing them interact with one another outside of their respective episode would've been fun!

The story tries to be darker and grimier than it actually is. I didn't end up caring much for the nation itself and much of the politics that the show tried to utilize felt boring and, again, watered-down. It felt like the show wanted to make it a political drama about war and human rights and only ended up shying away from what makes those genres impactful. Again, this isn't to say that TTASB's story is bad, it's just not as good as it could've been.

But it's MAPPA, so the art has to be good, right?: Yeah! Art was cool! Nothing golden, like MAPPA's newer stuff, but a solid 7/10! The fight scenes were nice, and even though a lot of them felt redundant to watch, they were still smooth! I have some qualms about a few of the Incarnates' beast forms (especially Hank's) looking like they belong back in 2001, but they still looked cool nonetheless.

I don't really have much to say on this front! Nothing really blew me away, but I never looked at the screen and winced away.

Ok and finally, pacing!: 4/10. 12 episode animes always have tricky pacing to them. I like to think about the show being pretty much only 5 hours long, which isn't that much time to cram in as much story and plot as they might want to. Overall, TTASB actually had pretty decent pacing, with a long enough build-up that led to a final showdown. If you ask me, I do think there was a pacing problem in the second half, as it felt far too stretched out, but that could've just been my perception of it.

My biggest issue with pacing loops back to the characters again. They're never really given time to explore or build up relationships. Especially not Hank and his prior team of Incarnates. I think that there should've been more screen time dedicated to their time in the army, to better explain the emotional distress that he's going through as he's forced to hunt them down. Instead, TTASB relies on a throwaway line or scene to deliver this emotional blow, and it nearly always falls flat.

Music!!!!: 6/10, The soundtrack in this anime really wasn't memorable and I don't remember much from it. Whoops!

I did like the opening a bit! It was done by Mafumafu, who I think has done a Pokemon intro song? Either way, it was energetic and fit the theme of the show well! The ending is also a bop, now that I'm thinking about it! It manages to be nostalgic and sad without being too slow! So good music on both fronts!!

OK, now we're in spoiler territory! Be warned!

I don't have too much to say regarding spoilers. Nothing in the show really feels important enough that I have to mention it under a spoiler tag. A few small notes, I suppose.

The show treats Hank like the more important character but then throws him away in his "death" to focus on Schaal, which was a very frustrating episode. Schaal felt so bland and useless in it, even when she faced her father again. Bringing him back to life felt like a sad excuse to force her into character development. I did like it when she found the courage to shoot him, but I also thought that it wasn't really as emotional as the show wanted it to be.

Hank's connection with Schaal, particularly in the second half, feels completely unnatural and forced. When she gets kidnapped, he has some sort of mental breakdown over her and it, if anything, felt creepy. It was undeserved and was forced down your throat rather than built.

Beatrice was the best character in the show and I think that if they stuck to ideas like hers (misunderstood creatures who just want to go back to their old lives), the story would have been much better. Instead, you switch to characters like the Gargoyle Incarnate, who just goes on a murder spree, and it ruins a lot of the development that Beatrice brought to the table.

& our deep deep look at one part: Forgive me if I get this screwed up a bit, it's been a weekish since I finished the show and my brain dumped out all details of it already.

Hugh Hank goes to the mountains and fights the Garmr Incarnate, Rex (Roy? I'm a bit confused on his name), in an epic show-down. Obviously, at the end of it, Hank wins, killing Rex. Now, if you're like me, you sat there for most of the fight going "who tf is Rex and why is this battle important?" and only at the very END, when he's dying, do you see a clip that you might remember from the very beginning of the anime, with Rex talking about Schaal. You go "oohhh I know who he is!" but you wished that you remembered this ten minutes ago when the fight started because it would've been so much more impactful. The show didn't remind you of this scene. It didn't tell you that Rex was this same person that you already met. It expected you to remember, and I didn't. This scene sums up a lot of the character problems with the show, where even if something does have emotional weight, the show doesn't act on it.

actuallyyyy bsd and kuroshitsuji are the ones I watched 😂 it was quite some time ago though and I don't remember much about them (help crap memory 😢) shiki really grew on me ehe when I was watching it I found it going along really slowly and almost dropped it but then all the Plot started hitting and together with the soundtrack I was like okay damn.

and i'm not really picky when it comes to genres. i really like anything from shoujo to seinen, from romance to horror lmfao but i do have a really soft spot for slice of life and romcoms!! i just don't really like yuri and yaoi lol (i'm bi so it's not problem with same sex romance, it's just bc of how they are usually portrayed. like i prefer reading a straight romance that is healthy over a toxic bl). what about you??
