haikyuu is my favorite anime too!! so much that I am currently working on getting all the Mangas! I never in my life thought that I would like watching anime boys play volleyball but the emotions I have felt while watching it are just too good, I recently just finished watching it for the third time and it somehow gets better everytime I watch it. They go about the story in such a realistic way that it's hard to dislike any of the characters, you just want everyone to succeed in life bc they all have a way for acting the way they do (also if you haven't seen it the stage play is so fun! I haven't been able to watch the full thing bc it's expensive but the clips I have seen are so good and they picked the perfect cast for it)

I recently watched free! which I thought I wouldn't like bc it was v fanservice-y and while it is!! especially in season one, it was still good, if not a bit cheesy but it's very cute nonetheless and while it doesn't compare to haikyuu I was hoping for the best for the characters in free! too

also idk if you've ever seen them but the disastrous life of saiki k. and the great pretender (this one has mature themes so be sure to read the warnings! it's very pretty and really well written tho) are some of my other favorites and if yoy haven't seen them I really recommend you do! especially great pretender, it's short but it's such a good watch

(there is, he gets better). this fic is canon divergent before canon even happens. the entire plot of shadow and bone will be eventually reworked. With the other two I watched the donghua first before going into the novel. I also watched bakuten but it was average for me. I was forcing myself to finish it 😩 To me what makes a sports anime really great is the characters and the relationships b/w them. If there isn't any characters that caught my interest I'll be bored.

There are quite a few upcoming sports anime but the one that I'm excited the most is blue lock as I read the manga, btw are you watching any seasonal?

ahhhhh yeah, i did watch s1 of mdzs first before reading the novel, but i read the svsss and tgcf novels before the donghuas came out. the animation is a bit peculiar for sv, but also weirdly good? the novel is kind of like a video game so 3-D worked.

let's seeeeeee i read golden stage a while back. it's excellent, but not tumblr-popular to my knowledge so sometimes i forget about it😰 i've tried a couple others, but either they weren't interesting or the trigger warnings lists were so terrifyingly long i didn't want to bother. what about you?

hq s4 was decent. i love love love the manga and characters with all my heart but the shaky animation was absolutely a turn-off. i'm questioning whether i even want to watch s5 bc i don't want my affection for the series to diminish due to that tbh.

yessss definitely!!! i do like sports but if the focus doesn't include details of sports i'm unfamiliar with and why certain characters are good/bad at them, then the characters have to be amazing. let's say, yoi and hq vs. free— we actually learned a fair amount about ice skating and volleyball from them, but i'm not sure i could tell you anythingggggg about competitive swimming lol

blue lock looks super cool!!! i have friends who've been wildly into it forever so it's been on my radar but i haven't picked it up myself (yet) i'm also super pumped for mp100 s3 and the spy x family anime, and cautiously intrigued by csm even though it looks gory!

the only seasonal anime i'm watching atm are komi can't communicate and the tv version arc of mugen train for kny. i started watching blue period, but it was mediocre compared to the hype i'd heard around the manga so i read the manga instead, which was indeed fantastic; and then dropped the anime. there are a few that look cool but they center a lot around war and that just isn't something i usually care for. if i get in the mood for them i may give them a try though!! is there anything you're watching???

multifandom reblog blogs (ones who track a tag):

@/allanimanga: lots of original content every day. does not reblog from tag anymore bc most members who had that job are inactive. i’m an admin and i’ve been told not to worry about reblogging from the tag, and just make content. has member privilege abuse from certain users; normally you make content for the blog and you get to reblog your stuff over in a 1:1 ratio, but they will just use the blog to promote themselves without contributing. it’s really sad but there’s nothing we can do bc most of the time it’s an admin.

@/animacia: was debating whether or not to put this one. reblogs mainstream anime (sailor moon, studio ghibli) and has a tag, but the tag itself does not seem to be actively used as the most recent post can see tagged for this blog dates back to june 2019 (more than a year ago). it’s an active blog regardless of slow tag activity. 

@/animationsource: active, but very picky? idk man they either do or don’t reblog your stuff. it’s a hit or miss with them. seems to have member privilege abuse/preference (explained up there). not too sure if they have a queue or just reblog sporadically.

@/anisource: active. seems to run on a large, backlogged queue bc their tag is full of stuff that has yet to be reblogged. edits will probably take a while to be reblogged, but they’ll eventually get there! 

@/dailyanime: new blog, but from what i’ve experienced, they will queue it, and your post will be reblogged in 1-3 days (it probably depends on how much is in their queue).

@/animangascenery & @/otomokatsuhiro (#oldanimeedit - changes url from time to time? that’s why i included the tag they track): inactive unless a member looks at the tag. in that case, they will most likely reblog the tagged post. typically mass reblogs/queues from the tag every once in a while. 

@/bbelcher & @/fyeahmovies: will reblog ghibli and makoto shinkai stuff. bonus points if you have added a text description to gifs. 80% dependable.

@/filmgifs, @/filmtv, @/stream, @/movie-gifs, etc. (basically big reblog fansites that aren’t anime-oriented, but do reblog mainstream anime movies): 90% chance they will not reblog anything from you if there is no text description. add text descriptions to studio ghibli/makoto shinkai film gifs and make it pretty! use text gradients!! that will increase your chances of being reblogged by them. they don’t reblog seasonal anime.

a note: many creators use tags as a way of reaching a broader audience. it's really helpful for smaller blogs who would like to share their content to others, but do not have the means/numbers to do so. just bc some people don't utilize tags to their full potential, it doesn't mean it isn't useful, so pls don’t try to act superior to those who want more exposure. everyone deserves a chance at getting the attention they deserve for their hard work!

@/fyghibli: used to be good at reblogging from tag, but has gone kind of inactive. i think they’re becoming more active again, but it’s very sporadic.

@/kikisdeliveryservices: they track a variety of studio ghibli related tags, and they do reblog a lot, but i don’t think they’re as consistent as ghiblisdaily. lots of original content.  

@/oh-totoro: not really active, but when they are (and they reblog from you), your activity skyrockets.

@/dailyghibli: not active.

@/daily-ghibli: sometimes active, a little wishy-washy. they seem to be reblogging a little bit more consistently now?

@/princessghibli: not active, but reblogs here and there.

@/ghibligif: a new blog, but decently active. will reblog post from their tracked tag within a day. lots of original content.  

main point: there are many studio ghibli blogs (wayyyy more than i’ve listed here), but only around 3-4 active ones. choose your tags with what you think will give you the best exposure bc if you have too much, tumblr will go “fuck you” and not show your post at all :)

random anime fandoms:

i’ll really only be including ones i’m in, or know a bit about.

haikyuu, bnha, kny, yoi: healthy and very active. content for these fandoms do well even if they’re not in season. has multiple active fan blogs (except for yoi tho - they’re all inactive for the most part).

noragami, ohshc, ons, snk, tg, swnku: active fandoms. edits will do moderately well bc most people have seen these. 

popular sports anime (knb, free, dna, tsurune? idk i don’t watch much sports anime): they do okay. i rarely see any new sports anime edits beside haikyuu, but people do love their sports anime. has active sports fan blogs.

pokemon & sailor moon: old but gold. lots of people love these anime bc it’s part of their childhood. still very popular amongst tumblr users.

violet evergarden: does moderately well. @/fyeahvioletevergarden will reblog your stuff if you choose to tag them (big boost)! with the new movie coming up soon, there may be a resurgence in activity, but the most recent movie did not have much content made for it, so that hope may be crushed.

tpn: not very active, but with the new season coming up soon, there will be a resurgence in activity.

ditf: kind of dead, but lots of people love zero two. edits do moderately well.

sao: dead. absolutely dead. i thought there would be some activity bc it’s in season right now, but no, it’s a dead fandom. low key sao sucks tho. idek where the plot is going; i’m just hoping for an end.

hxh, one piece, fma, code geass: i’m not in it, but i think they do okay bc they have a large following, just not as well as haikyuu or bnha (but they’re still very popular). it depends on your blog demographic tho.

mp100, opm, bsd, given: kind of medium-tier fandoms. not as prevalent as haikyuu or bnha, but there are still edits being made for these anime. they don’t really have any active fan blogs (besides given i think) bc none of them are airing rn.

makoto shinkai & studio ghibli films: they do great! everybody loves good scenery, and the films are very well known and loved by all!

some seasonal anime (spring/summer 2020)

fruits basket: well this reboot blew up and overshadowed everything in it’s path. tbh only edits posted on the first day of the new episode do well. it’s a very competitive fandom for creators. 

kaguya sama love is war: first season was good, edits did well. second season drifted off into the shadow of fruits basket. relatively obscure fandom for how popular it is amongst people (non-creators). 

tower of god: popular with creators. now that it’s not airing, no one gifs it. respective fan blog is doing its best with content from the manhwa.

fugou keiji balance unlimited: people were simping even before the first ep came out, and then the anime went on hiatus for a few months. now that it’s started to air again, everyone acts like it never existed in the first place... was a good fandom up until the hiatus and now it will probably take a while to recover.

god of high school: nonexistent even tho it’s a popular pick this season (summer 2020). in the shadow of fruits basket.

deca-dence, bna, great pretender, kakushigoto, the misfit at demon king academy, rent-a-girlfriend: *sigh* didn’t see much of it on my dash. lesser-watched seasonal anime in comparison to fruits basket and tower of god (all relative to tumblr). there are gifs being made, but you have to follow the right blogs.

main point: if there’s any seasonal anime paired up against fruits basket at the same time, fruits basket will win and the former will be left in the dust.

Okay, so, 4 sports animes, 3 of which I’ve watched all the episodes released, one that I’ve only watched the first ep so far. Gonna put them in the order that I watched them. Since I haven’t finished all of them, I’m only going to write about the first ep for each one. Also, I feel opening impressions are quite important for any show, so.

Yuri!!! on Ice (seen all of it)

Experience with sport: I’ve done ice skating before for fun, but I was never in any clubs or teams or had lessons; I never did figure skating. I’d seen figure skating performances during the winter olympics, and I always loved them, but that was the only competition form I’d ever seen it in.

Starting it with the skating scene, it instantly grabbed my attention with how well they animated the movements

I fell in love with Yuri Plisetsky at his introduction, the way he was set up, everything.

Set up as an antagonist of sorts (I don’t really feel like he’s actually an antagonist, but he was set up like that) and it didn’t take much to give us what we needed to know about him

The Yuri/Victor performing at the same time thing - animation that caught the movements wonderfully, we instantly knew what the hard things were even if we knew nothing about figure skating.

Introductions for all of the characters (introduced in ep 1) were amazing, instantly knew who was where in the skating world

Sk8 The Infinity (seen all of it)

Experience with sport: I have skateboarded once at scout camp, but never any races or stuff like that. It was on a skate ramp, that’s about it.

Opening with a race, dramatic, loved it

Reki and Langa’s relationship and introductions are glorious, Reki instantly trying to stop Langa from getting hurt at the race and giving him help

Drama of the race contrasting with Langa not knowing what the hell he’s doing

Instantanious knowledge of how everyone sees Cherry Blossom

Animation of races is amazing

The cuts between snowboarding and skateboarding with Langa

Adam’s introduction was incredible, we have no clue who this guy is, but we know he’s related to S (to be clear, I do not like Adam, his introduction was great, his character I do not like, written well as a character)

Langa’s jump, glorious

Not entirely important, but I think Sk8 has the best soundtrack in general

Bakuten!! (seen all episodes released at time of writing this (11)) (I watched this all in one this morning, so some of the things from ep 2 may be in here on accident if my brain thought that they’d been in ep 1)

Experience with sport: I used to be part of a gymnastics club and we did competitions within the different groups on site (there was a lot of us) but never did competitions with outside clubs (I doubt we would’ve had space for them in the building, we barely managed all the different groups in there). The group I was in was unspecified, so I did all four things we had available: balance beam, vault, bars, floor (closest thing to Rhyth Gym). Haven’t done it for ages because I quit the club about 6 years ago, but I did get some medals for vault and bars. In short, I have the most experience with this one.

The first routine was captured beautifully

Shotaro’s introduction and his joining of the MRG club was put in really well, seeing him learn how to do a backflip

A good chunk of stuff within the first ep

The characters were all introduced really well, everyone was strongly shown

And Shusaku Shida. He’s amazing. If I had a coach like Shida, I’d probably still be doing gym now.

Haikyuu!! (seen ep 1)

Experience with sport: None, none at all

The first tornament showed Hinata well, with how he treated them and handled the situation

His character was shown well

But, the actual sport was not explained to those who don’t already know how to play volleyball

There wasn’t anything particularly hooking about the volleyball aspect for me, though I do understand that it was a rookie team vs a practiced team

I also couldn’t help but compare the Hinata/Kageyama bathroom meeting scene with the Yuri/Yuri bathroom meeting scene due to similarity (I know Haikyuu came out first, but I watched YOI first). I felt Yurio was introduced better than Kageyama was, but that was the second one, so I’m not sure if Haikyuu’s meeting influenced YOI’s one.

I also can’t remember the names yet, I got the names for YOI and Sk8 down from ep 1, Bakuten I’m still having a little trouble but have most of them, Haikyuu I haven’t got names down and had to get a list

Overall, Sk8 The Infinity is my favourite; it had the best opening. However, Shusaku Shida is my favourite character out of all of them and I wish I knew a real life version of him.

I could do this with all the animes I’ve seen if someone wanted, but I probably won’t do that without being asked since it is a longer list.

In class, everyone was writing wishes for their parents. Tokoyami didn’t quite know what to write. His papa worked with trauma victims, he couldn’t exactly ask for more people to see him. He didn’t know what his dad did, however. Every morning he left wearing his suit, but he never spoke of what he did

“Struggling?” Asked Hagakure

“Yeah”

“How about asking for your dads to be important. My dad’s always really happy when he gets a promotion”

“Important” Tokoyami murmured as he wrote it down

Takami was panicking

“What does Tokoyami mean by important?!”

“Maybe like really famous” Jirou wondered aloud

“YES” agreed Takami

“What types of manga are popular nowadays” asked Momo

“Dark fantasy and all that,” said Mina, “People want action” She accompanied her statement with pretending to shoot a gun at Kami

“RIGHT” And immediately Takami started thinking up storyboards

All of which were trash

“Uhh not to be rude but you should really quit,” admitted Kami

“Stick to what you do best” added Momo

“I shall fulfil Tokoyami’s wishes” he cried, and went back at it

“IIDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” the assistants called and he appeared, immaculate as usual

“Don’t worry, as his editor, it is my job to make sure he can’t draw what he wants”

“YAY” Everyone chorused

It was back to the drawing board

“Maybe you can become a mango” offered Kami

“How would that help?” Questioned Jirou leaning across the table to where Kami sat

“Y’know, bungou means famous, great author. So mango is the manga version!”

“A brilliant idea,” said Takami, “I’ll go and find one

And so later, he found himself sitting across from Tenma, famous mangaka of some yaoi fantasy manga he couldn’t remember the name of.

“Hey”

“Hi” responded Tenma

After a bit of small talk, Takami stood up.

“It appears you’re not a mango” Takami told him and left

Tenma pulled his phone out and texted Akiteru: Am I a mango?

hihi !! i was wondering if i could request a haikyuu matchup? firstly my name is rashell, and im currently questioning my sexuality but id honestly label myself as bi. i go by she/they pronouns and im a libra ! my mbti is enfj (oikawa kinnie moment 😜✌️) and my enneagram is 2w3. as for appearance my hair is short in length; it's black with the shag haircut; and it's really fluffy ! im average height so 5'2, and im quite tiny. my eyes are a very dark brown, i as well have very long eyelashes hehe, and my skin tone is olive colored. my aesthetic —or the one that i want at least— is princess goth, animecore, and lots of sanrio ! my favorite sanrio character is my melody and kuromi if that helps any? oh my favorite colors are pink, white, and black. personality wise im definitely outgoing. i strive to be great at everything i try so im quite motivated to do my best and succeed, although im easily discouraged by those around me. my ego is HUGE, i have this god complex thing going on for me, but sometimes ill doubt if im even worth what i work myself to be. ive been told by others than im great at listening and im caring, in which i do heavily enjoy helping my friends and family with their emotional/physical needs. im fairly loud and like to believe that im pretty dumb, but i think i don't let myself on to be as an intelligent as i actually am. i like catboys and avocado toast.(kinda boring oops) in a person i like someone who's funny, caring, and whatnot, but also someone who's willing to show me their vulnerable side. introverts and those with opposite personalities of mine severely interest me. i love listening to how they view the world and how different they are than me. someone who's particularly soft and affectionate have my favor as well. i dislike spotify adds and biased people. i believe all people are equal and that everyone is good at least something. being balanced and organized is important to me, im quite energetic and a go-getter if im the mood. this leads to me to saying that weak arguments; lazy; and manipulative people irritate the hell out of me. my kins are kinda weird, but there's oikawa !! dazai (bsd), kyouka (bsd), viktor(yoi!!) tamaki (ohshc), bokuto, and yuno gasai. uhh hobbies? i like to workout actually. training my body to become stronger is something i enjoy to test my mental limits and become stronger both ways. although i tend to compete and compare myself with others over my athletic ability. i also love listening to music ! my favorite artists are mother mother, mindless self indulgence, cavetown, beach bunny, and p4rker, and wallows. my playlists are kinda weird, they're just emoji faces but my personal favorites are "jumin's credit card info;" "chuuya's non existent height;" and "dazai's suicidal thoughts" pretty great yes im aware😏 my comfort characters are introverts and easily shy, they're my favorite type of people tbh ! in a partner/relationship i look for loyalty; adventure and aspirations; understandings of each other's emotional needs; and tons of affection ! that's all, thank you sm >:))

This relationship is basically the definition of opposites attract. A lot of people really question how your relationship stands so strong, but it’s just because you two bring out the best parts of each other that even you yourselves can’t seem to reach. With your outgoing and loud personality, you need someone that can sort of tame that enthusiasm.(not get rid of it or anything I just can’t explain it🕳🕺) And with his shy and dependent personality he needs someone who’s able to bring out a more open side of him or bring him out of his shell a little bit. However, it’s all with good reason. You both respect each other immensely and understand what you both want so you won’t be pushing any unecessary expectations on each other.

You both are hard workers as well, but can be easily discouraged. You’ll be able to help each other with those inside struggles that you keep hidden from everyone else. You both are very similar in that way, but it’s just that you both hide your secrets in different ways. I feel you two would just be able to understand how the other is feeing so there wouldn’t be much miscommunication, but if there was you would be able to work through it. He finds your ego helps him a lot with his confidence, since he has a lot of trouble feeling ok with himself. However, that means that in times where you doubt yourself, he’s gonna do his best at making you feel better and more confident, since he knows how it feels to severely doubt yourself.

He really appreciates your more caring and affectionate side because this boy just needs some love, like please treat him with care. He’s always kind of been pushed to the side and he’s very dependent on others, so he needs someone like you to make him feel loved and appreciated. Most of the things you said your interested in fits him pretty well, too. He’s generally nice and caring towards the ones he cares about (which definitely includes you), but he also has a very teasing and humorous side to him, as well. He might not show it very often, but once he’s comfortable with you he’s constantly snickering along and making lighthearted, teasing remarks and jokes. All in good fun though, he’s never disrespectful in any way ( he drinks his respect everyone juice everyday😌) He’ll always be incredibly loyal to you and he’ll never be lazy with you, seriously he’s always gonna put in 120% effort into you and your relationship. •him joining one of your workouts because he wants to get more muscles and shiz and he can barely make it through when you guys do push-ups so you try and help him but you just end up falling over and laughing. It’s honestly just a chaotic mess but it’s amazing

Sorry, amina.....I'm sorry for the uncomplete question (I feel so stupid). I mean what is your top 10 fav anime of all time and your top 10 fav anime characters? And why you like them?

Hi @thanad-zid! And no, please don’t apologize. XDWell, I don’t really have a top 10 fav anime, it’s more like, if I had a fav anime, it would be one that I can watch again and again, and learn and love something new about the next scene each time. And for that, these would be the ones that have won my heart.

And, ah, before that you have to know, I am a Mamo fan, always, and so, you’ll definitely notice that a lot of them have Miyano Mamoru cast in them. XD And apologies in advance, that this turned into an essay.

1) Haikyuu!! - in 2014, when it first aired, I wasn’t particularly drawn to the animation style, forgive me, I was still a newbie in the anime world. A few years later, it captured my heart and has it since. I adore the OST, the seiyuu performances, the relationships it showcases, the beautiful and meaningful dialogue. Seriously stoked to see it further adapted.

2) Ouran High School Host Club - It was the 1st anime I watched after Naruto and Bleach - again, my knowledge was limited, living in Lahore, - and well, it’s the one anime that every time I watch it, the comedy never fails. I can re-watch it every year, and always think it was time well-spent.

3) Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Top tier op+ed, great fight scenes, heart-breaking moments, wonderful seiyuu performances *yes, I am a big seiyuu fan, at my core* Just all-around a great anime, imo.

4) Stein;s Gate (season 1 *ONLY*) - Ignoring the other spin-off anime that it led to, s1 was...a life-changer for me, it was the first anime I watched feat. Miyano Mamoru, and it cemented in my heart, him as my favorite. At the end of episode 09, even if I KNOW what's happening next, I still get the chills with Okarin, great op+ed songs and I'm a sucker for time-travel, so...

5) Yuri!!! on Ice - A really fun show, beautiful animation, great OST, wonderful set of characters with an equally enjoyable seiyuu performance, I hope YOI Adolescence will be released soon. I miss them...

6) K Project and its sequels - Fanservice aside, I really really enjoyed it. It's seiyuu cast had so many of my favs, I could list them all, but a Google search would suffice, the animation was stunning, it made me laugh, cry, one of my absolute fav OSTs. and sure, the storytelling wasn't stellar, but I didn't regret a minute of it.

7) Free! - See what I mean, when I said, my fav anime are influenced by my love for Mamo-chan? XD But, seriously, though, it's such a fun and yet emotional show, it doesn't go into detail about swimming, sure, but the friendship between the characters, their struggles and over-all feelings were just so enjoyable. And again, the op+ed and OST, I loved it.

8) Shingeki no Kyojin - This show...this show...Just wow, what a premise, what a memory I will cherish watching it. Great performance, great OST, the animation!! I could go back to 2013 when I first watched the premiere, just to re-live it, I would happily do so. Gonna be sad to see it end, for sure.

Sorry, there aren't more. There are a lot more anime that I do enjoy, but I couldn't say they are my fav. ☺️

twain, gentle, and maria for sure. twain muse.. well, he’ll always be my favorite. gentle muse is up there because while i may not have as much muse for him as i used to, i vividly remember the days when i would do literally nothing but scream about him constantly. maria may be new, but she’s so fun to write and so amazing and just perfect in every way.

pretty much all of the baccano! canon ships that involve my muses are really spicy, as well as the MDZS canon ships (wangxian and xuanli) and darling/apple. as for canon ships i DON’T like, these are the ones i can think of just by scanning through my muses pages: gentle and la brava, shiroe and akatsuki, lizzie and daring, kagami and adrien, and tink and terrence.

Okay so I’m just gonna go ahead and give you the full list of my favorite anime lol. I know I seem like a weeb, I kinda am haha, but I just haven’t watch Western animated cartoons in recent years aside from Voltron and before that Korra. So yeah, here’s a ton of anime recs!

Ouran High School Host Club - It’s pretty much a modern anime classic

Lovely Complex - So hilarious and very cute

Toradora! - Also hilarious and cute, and emotional near the end too

Free! Iwatobi Swim Club - Of course, lol

Anohana - So good and emotional and I bawled, have tissues with you. Also I really got into the band who sings the OP because of this anime.

Attack on Titan - And the OVA, A Choice with no Regrets, and the SNK Junior High spin-off, they’re all great, if you end up enjoying aot.

Kyokai no Kanata - Right up my alley, I love shows with supernatural themes like this

Puella Magi Madoka Magica-  Another one to have tissues with you ahhhh

Haikyuu!! - A+ perfect sports anime, I adore it. I even got my mom into it because she use to play volleyball lol. The game episodes keep you on your toes

Orenchi no Furo Jijou - A high school boy finds a merman on a beach and brings him home to live in his bathtub lol. Strange premise but so enjoyable and sweet. It’s very short too, the episodes are like 5 minutes long. 

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun - Hilarious romantic comedy, kinda satirizing the shoujo genre but not in a rude way, it’s just funny, I can’t explain it haha

Amagi Brilliant Park - Kinda meh tbh, after the fact. But I enjoyed it while I was watching! The payoff is when you realize who all the main characters’ names are based off of, it’s so funny

Hyouka - Personal favorite and so underrated imo, it’s like a slice-of-life mystery. Slow-moving a bit but I enjoyed it!

Tsuritama - SO GOOD, so pure, if you’re having a bad day, watch this. Weird premise but adorable fun characters. 

Silver Spoon - A city kid goes to an agricultural high school, another personal favorite because I was taking animal science classes in college when I watched so it was relatable haha. 

Ore Monogatari!! - The sweetest love story ever

No. 6 - Awesome dystopian sci-fi with a side of BL. 

Noragami - Another supernatural one that makes me wish I had cool powers 

Barakamon - A professional calligrapher goes to an island to relax and get inspired and meets the local children and shenanigans ensue, it’s very cute and fun

Zankyou no Terror - A thriller, so kind of intense. Also have tissues with you because I cried my eyes out

Tamako Market - A girl finds a talking bird and it’s also a slice-of-life, idk how to explain but I enjoyed it haha. Another Kyoani anime, they have the most adorable characters. The sequel film Tamako Love Story is great too.

One-Punch Man - Just awesome

Prince of Stride Alternative - Another kinda meh one, but it gets points for being one of the more unique sports anime for the fictional sport of “stride.” Also neat because the female manager is one of the main characters and has a pretty big role, don’t see that much in sports anime.

Days - Nice sports anime about soccer

Cheer Danshi!! - Another sports anime about boys doing cheer haha, a little on the “meh” side for me, but again, points for doing a boys sports anime for a pretty unconventional sport. Also based off a real life men’s cheer team, it’s pretty interesting! Plus the characters are in college, which is a nice change from the usual high school sports team.

Sweetness & Lightning - SWEET so sweet. A teacher who’s wife passed away learns how to cook from his student, so his daughter can have nice meals. 

Yuri!!! On Ice - And of course yoi as well haha

yeeaaahh I AGREE there were so many tiktok audios, trends, and all the good stuff that i LOVED being part of a a great fandom sm, but now, like i said, im not as invested in it anymore, so thats a bummer :( i even bough haikyuu stickers that arent all used yet and are just chilling in my drawer, a kenma lamp (the greatest purchase of my life idc what my wallet was screaming at me) and like i even crocheted things in the color motifs of the schools i liked, namely and aoba johsai top and a nekoma hoodie, with cat ears even ksnsja THEY TOOK SO LONG TO MAKE 😭

i still love it though, defo a fave cuz it's one of the first anime fandoms i joined :)

Writing, an autobiography

tagged by @yuuricutesuki to talk about hobbies/talents. instead, i wrote a full-blown autobiography of my journey with writing. I felt great after writing it. Got some things off my chest. Now, it won’t bother me as much anymore.

I’m a Joey of not many talents. Just the word “talent” bothers me when I see or read it. Leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, probably stems from that gray-area moment of my life where it was evidently clear where the successful people were. They were weeded out from the rest, placed into specialized classes that challenged their drives and what they were good at, and I was overcome with this feeling that I was left behind. So instead of talking about the T-word, I’ll hit straight to the hobby segment of this broadcast.

Writing: at some points, it does feel like a job. It does feel like I’ve been given an assignment to complete, and my mind is grasping at what to do next. It didn’t used to feel that way. I remember coming straight home and getting onto my laptop so that I could type stories. They were pretty bad at the time, really noobish and I had an odd fascination with having animals as my characters. I guess that made me a furry? Not sure about that. But to me, at the time, it felt like the coolest thing ever. Just to see myself being productive and writing all sorts of nonsense.

This was back before I knew what fanfic was, or how to properly use techniques in my writing. It was just me, having fun and experimenting with all sorts of things. I used to think that I could be a writer, that I could move people with my words. Really, the most I did was wildly swing the emotional index from left to right. In my little brain, I thought that’s what writing was all about. The DRAMA! The TEARS! DEATH! The whole sha-bang, and I thought that was what a writer was supposed to do. Make the reader feel something. Fortunately for myself, I learned to move away from the dramatics that were in your face and learned a thing or two about being subtle.

Oh dang, I used to read a lot of articles about writing. “How-to”s, character questionnaires, building worlds and whatnot, and I used to gobble all those things up like they were the law. Set on stone. I read numerous personal accounts from published authors, and I felt that their words would guide me to what I needed to do. If I followed their advice to the ‘T’, I would get somewhere. I was very selfish back then, looking back on it. I cared more about making it big somewhere and being successful and rolling in money at some point. I think that the thought comes to a lot of people when they pursue something akin to the arts. We want to be the best, we want to be amongst the best, and we self-delude ourselves away from doing what we can to improve our craft. It wasn’t until I started writing fanfic regularly did I begin to learn some of the basics.

I slowly learned how to make an enjoyable plot. I didn’t know much about characters or how to incorporate them. They were just there. If I could write a plot that seemed okay, I thought that was good enough. Well, that’s part of the writing equation. In another fandom, Haikyuu, I learned how to focus on characters and develop them. Alright, I seem to be improving. Right? I ended up taking a step back, and my plots weren’t as strong as they were before. What a pickle I got myself in!

At the time, I was probably fourteen or fifteen, I had trouble finding my identity. In public and even in my writing. I felt that I was disappointing people, and I deleted my AO3. Only to bring it back a few months later because writing had become a part of my daily routine. To suddenly stop for a long-period of time didn’t feel right. I didn’t do go back to fanfic write away, but I continued writing. I did little raps or poems, but I was still struggling with what I wanted my identity to be. I thought if I could write something good, I would find who I am and find peace from this madness. It didn’t come around until a few years later. I joined YoI.

I posted the seventh fic in the YoI archive back in the day. Before it got deleted when I went on a frenzy to delete my AO3 a second time a few months later, but I’ll address that later. Writing for YoI felt odd. I’ve always been late to joining fandoms so to contribute during the early days and watch the fandom grow? I was floored. It was an experience that I’ll never forget. Again, I did some dramatic things like when I was younger. I wrote my first near-death fic with Yuuri and Yurio. I learned a few things from other YoI fans, especially how to spell character names and how they were positioned. [looking at you, Seung-Gil] I wrote one of the first masquerade fics, one of the first historical soulmate fics, and a few other things.

My writing was consistent yet, but I was making something. That made me feel good. Fast forward a few months later, I tackled some hefty ideas that I wanted to do. I was in this phase where I wanted to write stories based off of real life and to add a touch of realism to a fictional world. I wanted to write about social issues and whatnot. I was very big on it, and I still am. Although, I’ve treated these issues with more respect and with a subtle nature than in my younger self. Considering that it wasn’t too long ago, either.

But the thing about real life is that it gets to your head, and I didn’t have fun with what I was doing. It felt forced. Nothing felt smooth over the tongue, and I went into my first meltdown. I deleted my biggest project off of AO3 at the time, and I was tempted to do more. I tried deleting my AO3 again. Twice, it didn’t go through because the site crashed. So I never attempted a 3rd. Every time I clicked on [deactivate], I saw a few more stories go. My Haikyuu works, 2 works for Voltron, a few for Hetalia that I imported from FF.net, and some of my early YoI fics were gone. I didn’t think about saving them, so they’re lost. Forever.

I went away. Eventually calmed down and started from scratch again. I relearned how to make a fun plot, how to intergrate characters into a story, but my style didn’t feel right. I experimented with different styles to find one that I enjoyed, and I eventually settled on one that I can only describe as “cinematic”. It’s been about a year since my first meltdown, and the anniversary is coming in a month I believe. Sort of weird to think about. How on that day, my mind just snapped and I wanted to throw away everything that built me into who I am. If I could go back in time, even though last summer and the autumn following it were very hard for me, I grew up. Still hurts to this day, but I grew up somewhat and moved on.

Writing ain’t about being popular, or making money, or to impress someone. Writing, for me, began as a personal journey of exploration and I’m still making that journey today. I’m exploring new concepts, different approaches, and I’m learning to write for the things that I enjoy than to strike any gold on my writing. If gold were to appear, I would want it to come from a project that I’m dedicated to and appreciate. Makes it feel worth it, but it’s already worth it because I’m enjoying what I do. Sure, it gives me a headache and sometimes, I do end up writing for things that I don’t enjoy. Puts me out of whack for a few days, or my paranoia reminds me of last year and I freeze up and I’m afraid to write again.

But there’s something about this hobby that’s changed me as a person. Would I have grown as much as I did without writing? I don’t think so. I don’t think I would’ve tasted failure quite as closely as I did or touch the glass at the very edge of my sanity when the world fell apart, all around me. If anything, writing has kind of taught me how to be humble, how to be realistic in my goals, and to just have fun. With every day as I get older, the world wants to take away the fun that used to be around. Through writing, I can reconnect with fun and I feel complete.

Writing has shaped the way I interact with people, with how I respond to questions, how I view this world through another’s eyes, and I can see how much I’ve grown since I began this journey when I was eleven or twelve. If a hobby could impact my life as much as writing did for me, I’d say that this is my personal odyssey if anything else.

HEY uhm so i finished haikyuu a few weeks ago and i still don’t know what to do with my life like there is probably no other anime that had such a big impact on me like that and i just miss them so much i get sad every time i remember it’s over

Haha I know how you feel. I can definitely recommend you some anime! Although, I don’t know which ones you have already watched, but I’ll do my best! Also, I don’t know if you read manga or not, but I would definitely read the manga to Haikyuu!! And some other ones as well. (but you don’t have to…)

When I think of “vibe” for Haikyuu, I think of sports (obviously) and I think of the characters. The characters are so well liked and that’s what mostly keeps me coming back to any anime. So my recommendations will be based on how lovable the characters are (for the most part).

Here’s my list!

1.    Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – this is an anime I always recommend, even some of my non-anime friends really like this anime. The characters are great and really fleshed out.

2.    Ouran High School Host Club – I LOVE this anime/manga. Honestly, I recommend the manga, but if you don’t like reading manga, then the anime is just as fine.

3.    Big Windup! (Oofuri) – This anime is about baseball! To be honest, I haven’t finished this anime, but it definitely gave me Haikyuu vibes.

4.    Yuri on Ice!!! – I wouldn’t be surprised if you have already seen YOI. It’s just…beautiful. The characters are incredibly lovable.

5.    Fairy Tail – There’s so many characters in Fairy Tail, so there’s a good variety to choose from and it’s fun! It can be sad and dramatic at times, but it was the characters I stayed for.

6.    Kamigami no Asobi – So….I got into a reverse harem phase. But this anime is great fun anime to watch! The characters are wonderfully designed, and the premise of this anime is definitely interesting! I honestly didn’t expect to be so caught up in it.

7.    Free! – Free is very fun, but I’m not too attached to the characters. Still, it’s something I recommend. (fun fact) This anime actually helped me get over my fear of water.

8.    Uta no Prince-sama – so uhhh this is another reverse harem…um, I’ve watched the first 2 seasons and I really did enjoy it. It’s definitely a fun anime with a colorful cast. I found the songs super catchy and fun.

9.    Fruits Basket – This anime is very cute! I really like the premise of it. It’s interesting to see how the characters relate to their zodiac. I actually need to re-watch this and I really want to read the manga.

10.  My Hero Academia – I really like shonens and this anime has a great selection of colorful characters. Unlike Haikyuu, it can get a little dark sometimes.

11.  Katekyo Hitman Reborn! – This is another shonen anime I really enjoy. Putting characters in a mafia setting is very interesting (especially since most of these characters are teenagers).

12.  My last suggestion is to re-watch your favorite anime. Every few months or so I re-watch Haikyuu and some of my other favorite anime. I usually do this because I’m too attached to my favorites and don’t want to move on.
