ೀ amira speaks! : Based on this plot. Okay,, I know I said I would write it all in one part, but splitting it in two helps me stay motivated to keep writing. 🙈 Smut will be in part two. This chapter only contains Luke being a bit possesive with you. Enjoy! 💕 ˗ˏˋ ꒰ summary : Prince Lucerys had his eyes set on you ever since you were children, and his affection for you grew stronger when you comforted him after losing his eye at the hands of his Uncle Aemond. But when your time of marrying another Lord comes in your early 20s, the now young Lord of Driftmark isn’t happy at all — though, he plans on making you his, as you were always supposed to be. ˗ˏˋ ꒰ word count : 2.1k

Lucerys Velaryon, your childhood best friend, had grown to be known as the “One Eyed Prince”; or the “One Eyed Bastard”, as many referred to him.

The loss of his eye had been greatly significant in his early life, having lost it after trying to defend his older brother Jace and his cousins from his uncle Aemond. If anything, it had helped to encourage and fuel the resentment their families felt for one another. And you had been there to witness the tense aftermath of the situation.

Your mere presence was enough to comfort Lucerys when you were just young children; you had a shoulder for him to cry on if he wished to grieve his eye, until he became used to living with it. “The loss of your eye is a symbol of the courage you had to confront your uncle, and defend your loved ones,” you constantly reminded him, embracing him tightly whenever he needed you. And the comfort he so desperately sought for, was always found in you.

You had always been there for the Velaryon prince, before and after the incident with his eye. But, there was something in that constant warming comfort you provided for him, that made Lucerys feel as if he could melt right under your love and attention. Perhaps, it was something he had been feeling deep down inside of him without even admitting it to himself, you were supposed to be just a good friend — but during the aftermath of his eye loss, nothing else mattered to you except his well-being.

You made sure to spend as much time as needed with him, offering comfort and love; which made Luke realise, just how perfect you were in every sense. Hardly any other woman could possibly compare to the inner and outer perfection you so gracefully carried.

The years passed by, and his personality simply grew to be more of a cold, and reserved one; compared to the timid, innocent boy Lucerys used to be. You couldn’t complain — his personality around you remained as endearing and gentle as it always used to be, though a bit more overprotective. You had grown to be as delicate as glass, precious as the petal of a flower; how could Luke not be protective over you? Especially since he was particularly fond of you... In more than just a friendly way.

Every boy, Prince, and Lord had their eyes fixed on you whenever you passed by, occasionally getting to flirt with you and making you laugh. Lucerys was never exactly proud of this, especially when another man tried to flirt with you in front of his face. He always kept a close eye on you, and made sure to advert your attention away from those men with any excuse that came to him. Jealousy ran on his blood like a fiery venom, and it was impossible for him to hide it — yet, you never realised the obvious intentions he had of keeping you away from anyone who wanted to compete against him for your affection.

Lucerys’ efforts where never in vain, they worked just the way he wanted. You always gossiped with Lucerys about whatever man tried to woo you, laughing to yourselves at your own remarks — and it never seemed as if you were interested in anyone else, except Lucerys when his presence was near your own. Compared to him, you weren’t exactly discreet when your gaze was fixed on his features, and to him, that was something to hold great pride for.

As you had always done since childhood, you sat under a large tree that you both considered your secret spot. The weight of his head rested peacefully on your lap, with his eye closed. One of your hands held a book, which you were reading outloud to him, and your other free hand mindlessly played with his dark curly hair. Both of you had managed to find a free space between your duties, deciding to spend some quality time together after quite some time of not having seen each other.

He now might be the Lord of Driftmark, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t visit you, and do the same things you had done since children. After all, the responsabilities that came with being a Lord were exhausting — could he not calmly rest with you, the woman that practically owned his heart, feeling your fingers mess with his hair and your soothing voice reading to him?

Pausing in between your lecture, you softly tilted your head towards him, admiring how peaceful he seemed with his head weighing on your lap. Teasingly, your fingers moved from playing with strands of his hair, and they moved to slowly caress the skin on his cheeks. “Have you fallen asleep already?” you inquired, with an amused voice tone and a growing smile at the corner of your lips.

Like your own, Lucerys couldn’t help but immediatly smile, softly chuckling as he opened his eye. “I am very well awake, love, and attentively listening to you.” his green eye stared at you admiringly, appreciating how the sunlight reflected gracefully on your features. The cold, reserved personality he had grown into, fortunately never affected your relationship.

Yes, Luke might have grown quieter and more kept to himself, but whenever you were near him all of that faded away — being the sweet, gentle boy Lucerys had always been with you. Except that, he might be quite a bit possesive around you; with no other Lord or Prince being allowed to flirt with you, just a mere cold glare with his eye as he stood by your side was enough to frighten them away.

A soft chuckle spurred from you as your fingernails playfully scraped on his skin to caress him. His eye felt heavy, feeling as if he could fall asleep right there at the mere sensation of your warm touch. “I have greatly missed you, Luke.” you began speaking, as his grin grew wider. “I’m quite content having been able to sneak away from our duties to be together. Your duties as the Lord of Driftmark are taking your attention away from me.”

Part of you said that as a jest, with both of you laughing softly at it, and another part of you was being wholeheartedly genuine. And having known you since childhood, he immediatly noticed that. Which left him quietly surprised, to hear suh confession — but Luke wasn’t going to deny the fact that he enjoyed having you clinging to him for his attention and care.

“I could say the same to you, byka jorraelagon.” lazily, he raised his hand. His fingertip lovingly caressed you under your chin, fixing his stare on your delicate features. “But don’t worry too much about it. None of my duties as Lord ever take you off from my mind, I can assure you.” a rosy hue smeared across your cheeks, nearly melting as his digit traced your skin under your chin. It seemed as if he knew exactly what to say, and how to touch you. It was satisfying enough for him to see your reaction, which was just the one he wanted.

Softly, you sighed, allowing him to keep stroking your skin. You had always longed for these private moments between the two of you, where you could do or say anything without caring for anything else. The smile that had grown at the corner of your lips dropped faintly, becoming a grimace as you frowned. Your expressions slowly turned into a despondent one, to which Lucerys immediatly noticed as his eye stared attentively at you.

Your own thoughts about enjoying solitude with him, escaping from your own responsibilities just to feel the warmth of each ofher’s presences, reminded you of your betrothal — and you were afraid such compromise would stand in the way of your meetings with Lucerys, in one way or another.

“What’s the matter?” he cooed calmly, noticing the change in your demeanor. You offered him a frowny smile. “Nothing, Luke. Everything is alright. Why?” as quick as you were in dismissing his concern for you, he wouldn’t leave it just there. “I know you. Your face says otherwise, something happened.” slowly, he stopped caressing you under your chin with his fingertip, just to rest his hands on his chest as Lucerys stared at you attentively.

“What happened? I need to know, (y/n).” Lucerys kept insisting, and you knew he wouldn’t give up so easily — not when he noticed something was troubling you. You huffed at the mere thought of it, beginning to shake your head in disappointment. “It’s just...” the words trailed off, hesitating for a moment before continuing. Your gaze lingered elsewhere, feeling how his eye was fixed on you.

“I have been betrothed— And... I’m afraid our moments together will not be as often as they currently are.” you managed to spill out. The words spurred mumbled, but they escaped from your lips, finally.

Moving your stare back to him, his expression was cold — yet, mixed with other emotions. Luke seemed confused, blankless, and yet... So impotent. Betrothals were a duty that no noble could ever from, it was a fate expected for you. But you should be betrothed to him. He could treat you so much better than any other mediocre, arrogant Lord. No one knew you better, than Lord Lucerys himself.

His head weightened further on your head, before he rapidly moved to sit by your side, instead of resting on your lap. His eyebrows knitted in confusion. “Betrothed?” he inquired in a low tone. “Betrothed to whom, exactly?” both your hands now laid on your lap, fidgeting anxiously with your own fingers. Bewilder was expressed all across his young features. Your eyes stared down at your fingers, nibbling on your lower lip discreetly.

“I have been betrothed into House Lannister.” you mumbled, “Specifically to Loren Lannister.” deciding to stare at him, you noticed his jaw clenched slightly. His hazel eye lowered it’s sight to the vividly green grass, thinking quietly to himself. You stared at him nervously, noticing the silence looming between of you, amidst the faint sounds of the birds chirping.

House Lannister. The Lannisters had quite a reputation of their own — he always thought of them as arrogant, petty, and proud of themselves. Out of all the noble Houses that there were, you had to be betrothed into House Lannister? “Velaryon” suits you better, anyways — the young Lord knew he would eventually get away with what was his. You were not getting married to some cheap Lannister, not under his watch. A pretty little thing such as yourself will not go to waste with the One Eyed Lord.

“I see.” Luke coldly retorted. Despite his clear bemuse at the abrupt news, he felt satisfied with himself — he knew how he would find his way to get you out of that dreadful betrothal of yours. And that way, you’d be entirely free for him once again. Offering a warm smile, the One Eyed Velaryon took your delicate hand lovingly, caressing your skin with his thumb. He felt invitingly soothing, making you mindlessly grin and become flustered at the touch of his digit on your flesh. “But don’t worry, my love. I’m certain your betrothal will not affect our frequent meetings.” His hand raised your own towards his rosy lips, pressing them gently against your knuckles to give them a loving kiss. The rosy hue tainted on your cheeks leisurely became a reddish tone, offering him a sheepish smile to hide away your shyness whenever Luke demonstrated tender affection towards you — an endearing type of affection that he never thought of giving to someone else. Doubt overwhelmed you at hearing his confident statement.

“Are you...” the warmth of his lips on your knuckles lingered, as he pulled away, staring at you with his only eye. Gods, how pretty you were when it was obvious you were melting for him. “Are you quite certain about it? What if... What if my betrothed dislikes the idea of us–” the young Lord shook his head, using his other free hand to place it on your cheek comfortingly. You immediatly gave into it, allowing your head to fall against the palm of his hand.

“Your betrothed will say nothing, because I will find a way of being together— as I always do.”

You meekly smiled at him, softly allowing some chuckles to spur from those beauteous lips of yours; clearly content at his determination.

You were endearingly sweet— so innocent. Of course the One Eyed Lord had everything mapped out to find his way to you, as he had always done ever since you were children. Your lame excuse of a betrothed was no challenge to him, as he had exactly planned out how to get rid of him; having you all for himself, without anyone to possibly disturb your relationship.

You didn’t belong in House Lannister, and much less in Casterly Rock. You beloged in House Velaryon — you belonged in Driftmark. And Lucerys wouldn’t have it any other way.

alicent as a mother is always so intensive subject, cause where tg refuse to admit that alicent was a bad mother, tb don't give her justice in reasons why that happened (it's not general, both teams has exceptions ofc)

tg defend her saying it's not her fault, she was used, she didn't want those children, they forced her, but was it said otherwise? yes, she was bad mother because of her own trauma and assault she experienced but she was still a bad mother. having an "excuse" don't change that

and not every time that someone said she is not a good parent, they need to add why. no need for assuming that person who says it, doesn't know the reasons. they can say why alicent became bad parent or the way alicent shows bad parenting or that she is just that, bad mother, they can say all of it or just one thing. all of that coexists

before I'll start: there's most stuff from the show, but there's book spoilers, maybe that will be also show cannon in the future, I dunno, sorry for mistakes, english is not my first language

we have evidence of her being basically sold by her father, sa'd by viserys, forced to birth one child by another. she was motherless child forced to becoming a mother before she was ready. she was not a fan of her children, we see her unhappy with them, and when she speaks it's about dry facts like the labour and not her feelings. she does not care for them that way, which is fine bc she not wished for them and she's still a child herself, but that's a fact

we see her later with her kids and again we cannot say she became better while becoming older. she sees them as her duty (her worst enemy), her responsibility and also (admit it or not) way to put rhaenyra down. otto said to her way before jace was born that he wants aegon on the throne, he already could be accused of treason but alicent remained silent and later she acts the same way. she puts on aegon big pressure, responsibilities and also involves him in act of treason (because again she thinks it's her duty to the realm)

what's more she abuses him physically and mentally. we see her beating him more than once, screaming or neglacting him (all of that are forms of abuse). blames him for aemond's losing an eye while it was her responsibility to watch her kid or a servant and guards', not his (you can say also viserys', there was never a dispute if he's a good father, we know he isn't, it's about alicent only discussion then)

aegon in his 20s has to ask his mother if he's being loved, how sick is that? that he drowns in need of attention? (you can say he deserves all of this but the truth is alicent - and viserys ofc - failed to raise him well and now she fails to punish him, cause he should be sent to the wall, instead she beats him and let's him be a monster to another girl, now as a "king". all not to protect him but to protect his reputation, all she does there is bc of her sense of duty)

helaena hates being touched by her own mother, why wouldn't she? child bride alicent did the same to her daughter, knowing what a menace her son is. she does not understand haelena, she forces her to early marriage, childbirting, unhappy life. (and be fr, haelena might not like touching generally but 1. it's speaks even worse about alicent who touches her againts her will and married her to sexual predator, 2. she didn't mind being touched by jace who not really knowing his aunt was far more gentle)

absence of daeron would say more about their relation if not for long time skips, the truth is sending away little child is a form of neglacting however we do not know if they were in touch and how often. i know it's a common practise, i am glad that baela was at least sent to her loving grandmother in her later childhood, but I still do not like the whole ward thing and i won't comment on it in daeron's case, cause we did not see it here how was it done

I will speak about aemond x alicent relation though which is by far the most interesting. he is the only one we can say that he loves his mother and cares for her which doesn't automatically means she was a good mother for him. for the dynamic he observes alicent needs protection from men around her (rightfully so) and decides to lie to the king to protect her. not only he usually lives meeting her expectations (ekhem ekhem not anymore ig) but can initiate his actions to please her even if that means he'll go against his own wishes (searching for aegon to make him a king)

the fact is he was much miserable for not having dragons AND for being bullied. yet two things we have: first alicent as queen could easily arrange aemond going to dragonstone to claim dragon or take rhaenyra's deal to have syrax's egg. second - she blames velaryon boys as if she wasn't the one who destroyed good relations between kids and as if aegon weren't bellwether for bullying actions (YES, JACE AND LUKE ARE GUILTY TOO, but we discuss here alicent dynamics with her kids, so I point her fault right now) and she raised one child to bully others, his own siblings

then we have the children's fight and aemond loses his eyes. one of the best scene when alicent attacks rhaenyra, 10/10 love everything here. that's gonna sound harsh but alicent's behaviour here screams about duty too. it shouldn't at all, her child just lost his eye, her priority should be to comfort him. instead she wants rhaenyra to take responsibility for having bastards (that's not the case), aegon for not taking care of aemond (it's her responsibility), viserys to admitting her own sacrifices weren't for nothing. she put here herself and her needs above aemond, she used his wounds to attack rhaenyra and her children (no, I do not say she didn't care aemond got hurt, don't put words in my mouth)

"if the king won’t seek justice the queen will" she wants so called "justice", but stated by her only, where's justice in taking child's eye after accident? would she also break aemond nose for "justice"? if he'd killed luke or jace, would she call for killing aemond? it's not caring mother, it's the queen wanting revenge cause she doesn't like princess' privileges (and also privilege that bastards here have). she calms down when she realizes that she went too far, "neglected her duty", that's not aemond's doing (and also fcked up that her assaulted child feels that he needs to calm her down)

"she was ready to die for her children" desperate actions in the worst scenarios to not matter that much with previous behaviour, especially since her children were doubting if she would do that for them in the first place (that ig you can take as opinion, but if mother abuses child for years how much does it counts if she gives up her life for this child?)

regarding rhaenyra she doesn't understand a good mother patterns as well. she either doesn't care nyra will suffer or doesn't understand that mother who just gave a birth to a child, will not send it away even for a second. she doesn't care or understand mother will not allow for taking her child's eye for "duty". she doesn't understand that bastards are not any less worthy of love. her view of motherhood is sacrifising herself, not enjoying what she can

perhaps she did not know any better, her mother was a child bride (forced by old pedo otto) just like her, she did the same to helaena and unfortunately later that happened to jaehaera. she was abused in many ways but later also became an abuser. and all that because she thought life is about duty and sacrifice. she had every reason to be bad mother and she became one but that it should be seen as a fact while some of you see it as an opinion and criticism

We’re supposed to see Rhaenyra making Laenor leave as an act of love Rhaenyra did to free Laenor from the stifling expectations of the crown but it really is such a cold thing to do and an objectification of Laenor.

He isn’t leaving with Qarl of his own will, he’s forcefully exiled. Also, people act like Qarl was the love of his life. Their relationship is so badly written IMO, Qarl gives Laenor, Rhaenyra and their family these looks that could be seen as jealousy. Theres no indication that he truly cares for Laenor, he looks like he just enjoys being the future consorts lover. The viewers (or at least I did) wonder if he’ll betray them… but the writers just don’t go anywhere with that. It was pointless to even film and let these parts stay in the Final Cut. They are pointless when they sail away together never to be heard from again in the next episode. Maybe they filmed different versions and in one Qarl kills Laenor put of jealousy like in the book- the looks he was giving Laenor and family would go with that version. Otherwise they seem like a storyline that was dropped from the episode.

Furthermore there is no indication that Laenor even loves Qarl. Rhaenyra says she’s allowed Laenor to flaunt around with his loverS in plain sight and Alicent says he’s probably entertaining his squireS. They were an open situationship.

Also If Baby Joffrey’s name is any indication, he’s not even remotely over Joffrey.

Rhaenyra didn’t show Laenor any respect at all. We see it first when she calls Joffrey HER son- that is indication that Laenor probably had no real rights as the Strong boys father. She’s uses Laenor’s name, his position, his family’s navy, his inheritance but she has more of a partnership with Harwin than she does with Laenor. She scolds Laenor constantly while carrying on an open relationship with and close proximity to Harwin in plain sight.

She disrespects Laenor even after he is dead. Once Laenor is dead she has her sons stop wearing his house colors and insignia but she wants the protection of his family name and she wants her non Velaryon son to inherit something that’s not his. TB always point to Alicent’s children wearing Green (- which isn’t even her family’s colors, it’s a color that she claimed for herself) and should be wearing the Targaryen colors because that’s their house but they never talk about how from Daemyra’s wedding on forward none of Rhaenyra’s sons wear Velaryon colors anymore. They’re always dressed in red and black, but their house is supposed to be Velaryon?

An argument can be made for Jace as the heir who will someday take the Targaryen name but Joff and Luke especially should be wearing blue. Luke is meant to become the head of house Velaryon in the future, but he wears house Targaryen colors exclusively. Rhaenyra wants the realm to see the Strong boys as Velaryon, she wants the Velaryons to let her son take their ancestral seat with no protests while she shuns the Velaryons and their symbolism from the moment when Laenor dies.

And is a petty personal opinion lol, but I don’t believe a baby Joffrey named his hatchling “Tyraxes”. She could’ve given him a name to honor his dead father and his Dragon, which Laenore named as a nod to his Velaryon heritage, but as with all of her children’s Dragons and even her own Dragons name, it goes along the lines of Rhaenyra’s lifelong Daemon obsession. Caraxes, Syrax, Vermax, Arax and Tyraxes. Vermax for her heir because I she wanted to link Jacaerys to the image Ang legacy of the greatest Targaryen King, Jaehaerys and his Dragon Vermithor along with the ever present link to hers and Daemon’s dragons. Arrax and Tyraxes are in line with that. Tyraxes is basically Syrax and Caraxes if they had a couple name, with the T substituting the S.

Laenor was always just a tool for Rhaenyra to protect her own self and self interests. She wanted him murdered when Laena’s death freed up Daemon and she- a person who has experienced the grief of losing a close family member- condemned him as “useless” to her and the tool she has used to her benefit for a decade becomes an obstacle to get rid of. Not a friend. Not a husband. Not even a beloved cousin. Not her children’s father. Their relationship was never that understanding, fluffy friendship and partnership that people write it as in their fics, tumblr posts and tweets about how much of a perfect family team black is compared to team Green. Laenor- while having privilege as a man was still in a marriage with a big, big power imbalance. People just turn their blinders on to this because it shatters their view of Team Black as flawless.

Jace holds no resentment to you. But he can't deny the new arrangement is definitely an inconvenience to his comfort. He knew long ago your sister was not even a bit interested in him, they had form a silent agreement of treating eachother with respect and obliged decency when needed. Though he had always dreamed of marrying for love as a boy, he knows better now. His duty is to his family, and sometimes that duty involves sacrificing childish dreams.

If it were in a different situation, he'd be more intrigued to get to know you, but right now his priorities us securing the alliance for the worst times to come. He had lost his brother nearly a month ago during his trip to Winterfell. Distracted by new born friendships and tours while his brother had died in a way he can't imagine. His eyes only see red and his heart only beats to take the green's. Nothing else can matter at this moment. He will not allow them to take more from him.

He wishes he can skip the breakfast date with lady [name] that his mother arranged for him, but he supposed he'll indulge her. She had claim to worry that he'll lose himself in the midst of all the battle planning and dissociating from his grief, and though he kept reassuring her he's fine, he knew deep down she was right, these days he doesn't recognize himself much.

He is but a vessel of painful memories and regrets. But for his mother's pain is greater than his, he would do this small favor to make her happy.

His betrothed was already seated by the small table by the garden, her breakfast half eaten and tea still full. He feared he'd offend her by arriving late, but it seems she was too distracted by the book she's reading to even notice his arrival. Too deep into the book she can't even finish her food.

"Not a tea person?" He greets her with a question, nudging his head towards her full cup. She flinched at his voice immediately placing the book by her side, seeming embarrassed.

"My prince, apologies, I didn't see you" you stuttered out, trying to hide your nervousness with a rushed smile forming on your face.

"oh no it's fine, it's I who should apologize, I haven't made you wait for too long have I?" He asks as he pulls his seat back to sit on.

"of course not my prince, I wasn't that much on time either" your sweet smile was contagious. An accessory to every response and reaction you had. His lips can't help but pull wide in a grin when you look at him like that, It was the sort of smile so honest and kind only a person with such tender way of being and honesty could give, he's sure if it.

He broke his stare and his stupid grin immediately after a whole minute of gawking at her until she's obviously uncomfortable and starts to glance around fiddling with her dress .

oh that's right, tell yourself to remember your priorities than not an hour later you're inches away from your betrothed staring at her like a child eyeing lemon tarts.

"I- um, you haven't answered my question" he immediately starts to put an end to the embarassing silence. She looks at him in confusion, "-question?". "Your tea, it is untouched, do you prefer milk tea, or something else?" he inquires gently and as realization dawned, she lets out a small laugh. "I actually love tea, milk tea, this tea or whatever, It seems I was too preoccupied by my book, the tea seems lost to my mind."

He nods understandingly at this. "I see, and what is it you're reading, if you don't mind?" His heart flutters as your smile brightens and you shook your head at him, "course' not my prince, it's um, well it's not educational I'd say, just a classic I picked up at the library, a work of fiction revolving themes of dragon lore, old fairy tales."

He gives her a look of surprise, "oh are you more of a lover of fiction? I'd expect you to be more interested in historical books, from our last conversation"

"don't get me wrong, I do read historical and philosophical books, though a girl can appreciate old archives of real events while still preferring a different reality, can't she?

That had him smiling up to his ear, as if it wasn't already big enough. He liked how she thinks. She was deeply reserved and shy, yet when her excitement got the best of her, you can see how her mind is a room if wonders, a room he wishes to have the key to.

A wonderful conversationalist. An easy person to talk to, that is all. Don't get ahead of yourself Jace, you barely know her. he reminds himself.

"A good point, one I definitely agree with. You seem so learned in works of literature, I must have you recommend me something" A trick he learned to help ease down barriers of a person, which is to show them you care for their inputs and opinions, and he did care as he asks her this.

Before she can respond, a guard appears behind them giving a slow nod of respect.

"My prince, my lady, I apologize for the interruption, but the queen has requested your presence my prince." he states his intentions.

Jace gives a slow nod and thanked him. The word of their alliance with the Starks must have arrived, having to cut his visit short to Winterfell due to the loss of his brother, his new friend Cregan Stark has promised to send word via raven of his confirmation if loyalty to the Queen Rhaenyra and his support of troops.

He turned to lady [name] giving a tight smile and a regretful look having to leave too soon. "it's fine my prince, we can continue our conversation later on, it's been pleasant to talk to you." You assure him accompanied by your regular warm smile. He couldn't help but reach his hand to hold yours as he gets up. His fingers hold yours and as he lifts you hand to his lips your breath caught and your legs feels like it'd fail you any second now.

He releases your hand finally, not before softly brushing his fingers on your palm as if learning every lines of it, making you redder than before.

He opens his mouth as if to say something but closed it back as he options to nodding politely with his lips upturned as he leaves you to the gardens towards his mother, and you to your fantasies and fast beating heart.

Jace was probably one of the only company you've had these past weeks that didn't annoy you. The ladies of the court had avoided you at first, labelling you as your sister's keeper, a replacement bride. You didn't care, as long as they weren't bothering you. But these past few days they've been getting bolder to make your acquaintance, often butting in during your reading hours trying to dig out private information of your affairs with the prince, it is irritating like a fly you can't kill no matter how hard you try to slap them off.

You were polite of course, trying to make it obvious you do not wish to indulge them by giving short straight answers, yet they are insistent.

"I do feel pity for you my lady, though it seems lucky to be betrothed to a prince, being a second option sounds humiliating at best, would you had chosen another if you could?" Asks Lady Noura, a pale looking red head whose mouth never cease to stop flowing out words it seems.

"Why should I feel humiliation for a mess j didn't make?" you snapped. It seems she tires not of trying to make you feel inferior.

"Oh-yes yes of course, I didn't mean it like that of course my lady, I apologize for any offense- it's just, I can't imagine being forced on a responsibility that shouldn't have been yours, to have to take your sister's place and her burden along side, such a heavy pressure to carry the title future queen, isn't it?" I am not worthy to be queen is what she means.

"We do not choose our fates and responsibilities lady Noura, I would not dishonor my family further with silly doubts" You speak out confidently.

"ah, of course my lady, wisely spoken. Though dare I ask, is it true the wedding might not happen at all? whispers have said the prince is asking for it to be called off, I wonder if a stronger alliance is being considered."

Her planned question took you by suprise, so this was the bomb she had been waiting to drop? and drop it did.

What lies has been spreading through the court, and are they even lies?

Her false worried eyes starts to turn into a look of deviousness and a small smile seems to form on her lips, one she can't help from hiding, seeing your shocked expression.

She raised her eyebrows as if indicating she waits for your answer.

"-I, I know not of what rumours you speak of Lady Noura. Though I'm sure truthful or not, the Queen and her court knows best of what needs to be done to secure their throne." Your breath was quickening and if you don't leave immediately you might just burst into pieces in front of this spiteful cunt of woman.

And oh how you hate to look weak in front of those undeserving to witness your vulnerability.

Immediately excusing yourself, you tried swiftly walking to your room without making it obvious you'd leap through the door of your chambers if you could. Tears flows down as you shut the door close.

What was there to expect? You are nothing more but a second daughter in your family, There are plenty of other options that are much more beneficial to the royal family.

Perhaps she was lying, and you judge yourself harsher than everyone else. Or perhaps the small voice down your chest were right all along, and that your fate in life is to be as useless as you are unloveable.

A nothing special of a sort type of girl, easily replaceable.

Side-eyeing you hard for your terrible taste in music lol I could not bring myself to listen to The Jonas Brothers, so Googled the lyrics and chose this:

“A toast!” Aegon shouts for what feels like the hundredth time that evening, draining the contents of his wine goblet in a single swallow.

She follows suit, wincing as the ruby liquid burns her throat. Her head is starting to swim from the effects of the alcohol, she is not used to drinking quite so much in such a short space of time.

Surprisingly, Aemond is keeping pace with the pair of them. He normally refrains from imbibing altogether. He is keeping his composure so well that she cannot tell if he feels as thoroughly soused as she does.

“To your final night of freedom!” Aegon jeers at Aemond, slopping wine across the dining table as he moves to refill both their goblets.

Her face falls as she remembers the exact reason why they’re sitting drinking together in the first place. Aemond is getting married tomorrow.

She had been a ward of House Targaryen since she was eight years old. Not possessing the interests that were typical of a highborn lady, she had gravitated towards Aegon and Aemond. She had enjoyed watching them spar. She even learned to wield a sword herself under their instruction, when Ser Criston Cole wasn’t around to fret that it was too dangerous an undertaking for a lady.

Aemond had shared his books with her, and she’d accompanied him on his many visits to the dragonpit as he’d admired the beasts that dwelled there, longing for one of his own. She had always taken Aemond’s side throughout Aegon, Jace and Luke’s relentless teasing. She’d shared in Aemond’s devastation when he’d lost his eye at Luke’s hand.

He was her best friend. She had never considered it anything more than that as the years had passed, until Alicent and Otto had broken the news that Aemond was to be betrothed to a Baratheon girl.

She had felt her heart shatter, all the air leaving her lungs. She was going to lose him when she was only just realising she was in love with him.

She had buried her feelings, gritted her teeth and learned to bear it as the pretty dark haired girl had visited the Red Keep over the course of the year-long courtship.

Things between her and Aemond had remained unchanged and for that she was grateful. She had assumed that now he was to be married he would pull away from her, but he continued to spend every spare moment with her. It was bittersweet torture.

Now it is the eve of the wedding and Aegon is determined to send his younger brother off in style, or at least ensure he exchanges his vows on the morrow with a sore head.

She places a hand over her wine goblet as Aegon attempts to refill it. “I have had enough, I think.” She says. “I need some air.”

She draws in a steadying breath as the cool night breeze hits her flushed skin as she steps out into the gardens. Leaning against a wall, she looks up at the stars, gathering her thoughts. I just need to get through tomorrow…and then what? Learn to live a lifetime without the person who has your heart and is completely unaware of it.

“Are you alright?”

Aemond’s voice startles her and her eyes flit down to look at him. There is a slight sway in how he is standing and a small smile tugs at her lips as she realises he is every bit as drunk as she is.

“Too much wine.” She half lies, ignoring the way her heart flutters as he draws near.

“Mmm.” He reaches up a hand to brush a stray lock of hair behind her ear. “I wish it was you.”

The way his voice slurs slightly does nothing to dilute the shock of his words, or the gooseflesh that prickles her skin at the feel of his touch.

“W-what?” She stammers, eyes wide and pulse racing.

Aemond closes his eye, his nostrils flaring as he takes in a deep breath, before placing the flat of his palm on the wall beside her head and looking down at her.

“You.” He utters. “I should be marrying you.”

Her heart feels as though it has leapt into her throat. She cannot get enough air into her lungs as she stares up at him, wide eyed. “You are in your cups, Aemond, you do not mean that.”

He shakes his head, bringing the hand that is pressed against the wall behind her down to caress her cheek. “I do. The wine has simply given me the courage to say out loud what I have always felt. Tell me you don’t feel the same way.”

Her eyes flutter shut at the feeling of his warm palm against her cheek. “I can’t.” She whispers, opening her eyes to gaze at him sadly. “But it does not matter. You are marrying someone else tomorrow.”

“We still have tonight.” Aemond offers, leaning close to her, his lips mere inches from her own. “I would rather have a single night with you than a lifetime of not knowing how it feels to be loved by you.”

She says nothing as Aemond closes the gap between them, kissing her hungrily. She melts into the embrace, returning his passion with equal fervour. This time when she tastes wine it is upon his mouth and she does not wince. Nothing has ever tasted so delicious.

i don't usually get involved with team stuff but mini rant (im low-key losing my fucking mind)

I don't understand people who are Team Green, and not because of their opinions on the characters. I find Team Green as some of the most complex, interesting characters in the whole lot of asoiaf.

1: First of all, the treatment of the strong boys. They act like Jace and Luke are absolute monsters; which, I don't necessarily agree with, but without bias I do agree they are not pure and cherubic angels. Lucerys is impulsive and childish, making jokes about actual trauma and maiming a ten year old who was influenced by his older brother. Jacaerys has extreme anger issues which lead to him acting arrogantly and stubbornly to the respite of his elders.

This does not mean they are *demons*, though, and do not deserve to be treated as such. I've seen people say that they were horrible for not showing a horrified reaction to Vaemond's death, that they should've felt remorse; what choice was for them to make? Lucerys was openly against the thing, wishing his own birthright upon the person who tried to usurp him; Jacaerys heard only the words "whore" and "bastards", which set him off. I do not blame him for this in the slightest; those words have been used his entire life to demonize him, villainize him and his mother.

Other people say Rhaenyra was terrible for making her sons believe they were real Targaryens, not admitting they were bastards and trying to persuade them from the throne. This take is just - abhorrent, imo. Jacaerys was taught by his grandsire, his mother, his father that he was going to inherit the throne just like his mother would before him. Lucerys and him obviously knew they were bastards - it is hard to ignore when everyone looks at you in the street, points you out, suggests you are not what you say. Jacaerys also spent his entire life, especially in the Dance, trying to prove himself a worthy heir. His traits of being well-studied and righteous were given to Aemond, because there would be no debate on who to choose if not.

"Team Green writers should've written the show! They're making the Blacks too sympathetic!"

The blacks are supposed to be the sympathetic ones. They are the tragedy of the war; the close-knit family that, in their pursuit to stay together, were torn apart and murdered by themselves. Joffrey died alone. Lucerys died alone. Jacaerys died alone. Daemon died alone. Rhaenyra was the only one who died with her son. They were the epitome of a caring, loving family - and what did that get them? Their reluctance to be ruthless resulted in the cold murder of a child. Lucerys was 13 in the book - 14/15 in the show. His death should be as hard hitting and as sympathetic as Jaehaerys, but somehow, it is not. To make a joke about Vhagar ripping Arrax to pieces is funny, to make a joke about Blood and Cheese is horrible. The double standard is just *baffling* to me.

Another thing - most of TG loves Jon Snow. They think that Daenerys was mad, that she deserved to die, that she was evil. By this precedent, if you can accept a legitimized bastard on the throne in the form of Jon, why is it *so hard* to picture Jacaerys on the throne?

"They have no personality!"

They had absolutely no screentime. The writers gave a scene to a fucking *foot fetish*, and they could not give us a scene of Lucerys, Jacaerys, or Joffrey. Especially when Lucerys was going to die in that season - he had a total of 23 minutes of screentime, and near 6 minutes of lines. That is not even half of an episode worth - especially for him to just be sitting in the background. And the times when he is talking? He is made to be the most unsympathetic character, ever. Laughing at Aemond, attacking Aemond - he is used mainly as a plot device, and it's sad, because I truly believe he deserved better than that, bc Elliot Grihault is a great actor :D

might make a part 2 if this idiot in a discord RP keeps insisting tg is righteous and perfect and amazing and MY fav characters suck ass

Who would they be? How would they die? Would they serve cunt as final girl? See in the scenes of this chapter.

Aegon ↺

In the stereotypical horror movie characters, Aegon fits as the hot asshole that none of the group can stand for very long. This is a fact that you cannot deny. He'd be so interested in having sex with you that he wouldn't notice the Hockey Mask killer hanging around the cabin before murdering you both with a machete. Note that I said “you both”, because there is a big possibility that you will die as couples who have sex in horror movies die together. The probability of Aegon being the first to die is SUPER high, like SUPER high, he's not very smart and would be easily caught by Jason — the assassin — when he wanders away from the group to smoke, masturbate or fuck. If by chance he survives, he will turn into the hot asshole who harms the group and causes the death of someone for his stupidity/shit personality, in which case Aemond could intervene and use his older brother as bait while you try to get the fuck out as quickly as possible from that hell. There is no chance of him being a final girl, sorry Aegon girlies.

Aemond is the brain of the group, just that. He would be totally rational and try to come up with a plan to make you all survive and escape the killer, or even try to kill him together. He is the typical serious and mysterious character who turns out to be the big key for you to escape successfully, but there is a problem, even if his plan is genius, there is a great chance that Aemond is the type who would tell the group to separate and look for things that might facilitate the escape process. Okay, by the logic of buying time his reasoning is correct, but THIS IS A HORROR MOVIE, DON'T EVER SEPARATE!!! You guys would probably individually die to Jason if you did. So at the end of the day you would be together trying to survive. I don't see any scenarios where he could die, like no one, Aemond Targaryen is a fucking final girl and you can't convince me of the content. He would survive beautifully and run out of camp with you without a scratch (maybe a stab wound to the leg). He’s fucking fabulous.

Jace ↺

Jace is the good guy protagonist who gets along with everybody. He would likely find Aegon's body — or the first to die — and alert the group. He is protective and sensible on purpose to generate an attachment and fear in the audience should something happen to him. Therefore, in any dangerous situation he was involved and comes face to face with the killer before helping you to escape. He's not the typical dumb good guy, but he's not quite the ultimate brains of the team, however, he will always try to save you and Luke from the hands of the masked son of a bitch. However, I see three possible outcomes for Jace’s end. In the first one, he will survive with you and Aemond and serve as final girl. In the second, he almost manages to escape but ends up being caught in the nick of time to your utter shock. In the third and final ending, Jace would sacrifice himself so that you or Luke could escape with life and serve as bait for Jason — I hate to think about it because it would probably happen, my sweet boy doesn't deserve that kind of end. But it's a high possibility, sorry loves. I have to say that the ending where you're in the sandwich between him and Aemond is more enjoyable :)

Luke ↺

Luke, my dear sweet Luke… sorry, the probability of him being killed is extremely high. He's the cute kid who tries to be helpful but ends up being one of the last to die. Probably while you were trying to look for weapons or things separately, he would be taken by surprise by Jason, which would make Jace completely lose control and try to go after the killer — which no one would allow. He could also be left for dead by Aegon or another asshole who tried to get away with it, but was eventually caught or discovered by the group. In the end, there are more chances that he will die than that survive. However, he could serve as final girl in the scenario where Jace sacrifices himself for the group and ensures his sweet little brother's safety. He is our sweet baby, but unfortunately this type always dies tragically, sorry.

Now it's your turn. You’re the protagonist, the only female figure in horror movies who is not some dumb bitch who would die stupidly, you are cunning and smart, trying to keep the group together as they look for ways to escape the camp without running into the hockey mask maniac. Therefore, you completely dismiss Aemond's idea of parting ways. I'm totally clubbing, so you would definitely be a final girl and survive alongside Aemond and Jace/Luke. You would find Jason but manage to escape and lose him, warning the others about the presence of the killer. Maybe you could get hurt during the escape, but it would serve victory and post-trauma mental sequelae. Since final girls never hook up with assholes in slasher movies, you'd probably be platonically involved with Aemond or Jace. Sorry again Aegon girlies.

And now a plus: Daemon Targaryen. The fucker is totally bloodthirsty and would try to hunt Jason down, baiting him with curses while holding a big gun. He could be cruel and use any of you as bait, as the end justifies the means for him. Daemon could lay the son of a bitch down for a moment, or he'd die trying and not mind taking him with him.

I even wrote a fic about it! #shameless self promotion [tumblr / ao3] (That is, in fact, one of my favorite things I've ever written.)

I do strongly believe that Alec knew that he was gay, and felt no shame about that in and of itself. He is not offended by Magnus flirting with him, would not, I think, be offended by anyone else flirting with him, regardless of gender. (Tho prior to Magnus I also think he just... wasn't interested, but that's a separate conversation.) He knew, however, that it was not allowed in his culture and it would hurt his family and not just him if it came out.

(This is why Izzy makes me so uncomfortable in s1 regarding Alec, tbqh, because she lives there too, but refuses to see the danger to herself and, more egregiously in Alec's mind, because obviously she can chose to risk herself for him if she wants, for all he doesn't like it, but she's causing risk for their little brother if Alec is outed, and that's unacceptable. Even if I'm quite sure Max would agree with her priorities.)

I do, however, think Alec felt a lot of shame regarding his attraction to Jace. Jace was hurting and was supposed to be his brother and yet... Alec felt an attraction that he knew Jace wouldn't return. So he's got all the societal pressure on him not to be gay, and all this personal pressure not to manipulate or abuse someone in a vulnerable situation (because Jace was, even if he wouldn't admit it), PLUS all the normal human issues with feeling attraction for someone who is important enough to you that you can't lose them, and you can legitimately be terrified that if you can't get it under control you MIGHT... (Even more so for him than a mundane romantic vs platonic situation, obviously, because there's questions of command and exile and punishment, not just ruining an interpersonal dynamic in a way it never quite recovers from.)

Plus Alec's kind of also Jace's commanding officer which is yet ANOTHER unequal power dynamic, and he's supposed to be protecting an entire Institute, not just this one person, but he can't stop thinking about it because it's fucked up and he knows he should stop and he can't.

Alec isn’t expecting the weight of the wards when they transfer to him. All his life he’s been protected, disconnected from the rest of the world and swaddled away by the angelic core of his home.

There is little that can touch him with such a vast, eldritch energy interested in him. Alec knows that the Institute is why his parents stopped yelling at him.

Knows that their nightmares, that his father losing a hand and his mother an eye are because of the core. It keeps him awake sometimes at night, replaying the different ways it’s protected him.

Alec loves it with a fierceness that takes up its entirety. Whatever parts of him were meant to be molded for Raziel and nurtured by his family no longer exists.

Not when it’s the angelic core that croons him lullabies through the walls or lights his room, so Alec won’t stumble through it. The Institute is his comfort and his guide and while it protects him, he also is learning to protect it.

From poor leadership, from disrespectful hunters who won’t honor the weight of the Institute properly.

So, Alec trains and he struggles but he always thrives, he can’t do anything else with the core of an angel guiding him. There is only instinct, wild and untamed, and so Alec grows used to people leaving. Hodge, who tried to get to close and who Alec smirks at, as the core devours him.

Jace, who shows up as small as Alec once felt and who hurts him once and then never again. The Institute does something, something terrible, something sad and Alec doesn’t care. Not when it surrounds him in covetous power and promises to protect him always.

So, Alec isn’t expecting the wards.

The Institute doesn’t like sharing, it never has, and Alec is shocked with how amiable it’s being. It likes the wards; enjoys the power they hold and how they help keep Alec safe.

The magic itself is warm, possessive and demanding but never harms him. It holds him together when Alec can’t hold himself and when he struggles, when he fights the Institute, refusing to let it devour his parents — they’re too exposed, too many witnesses — it presses against his spine and keeps him standing up.

Alec nearly buckles under the weight of an eldritch being’s thrashing maw and the magic keeps him anchored, holds him up until he’s safe and can collapse.

It’s hungry, Alec can taste it in the magic petting over his skin. It’s curious, but not malicious.

Alec shudders as he struggles to stand, the weight of the Institute and the embrace of the wards compressing him until he almost feels like he’s whole.

In a wistful, wishful moment, Alec wonders just who created the wards and what their magic feels like in person.

It’s a silly, idle thought that he tucks away and as he walks down the halls of his home, he runs a hand along the wall. Petting the magic and soothing the Institute as he slowly makes his way to his office.

The magic follows.

If someone didn’t approve of your relationship he’d probably just act like, “Okay, I don’t give a fuck.”

Like if you wanted to braid it or something he’d raise an eyebrow and say, “no.”

And if it really bothers you he won’t do it

But if you’re just saying something like, “You should ask before you take someone else’s food” he’s just shrugs and takes another piece

But if you do it to him he raises an eyebrow at you

He won’t care that much though

Make out sessions leave you breathless

He’s very skilled in making out

Jace is most likely the best kisser you’ve ever had

He’s also really skilled with his fingers

He definetly makes a lot of jokes about you being obsessed with him

But everyone knows he’s also obsessed with you

If he loves you, he litterally doesn’t see other girls

If other girls find him attractive it’ll boost his ego but at the same time he doesn’t care

Wouldn’t cheat on you

You own his heart and soul, even if he was mad at you he could never look at another girl the same, not when you exist

Cares about his siblings opinions on you

Especially Alec’s

Alec and Isabelle would def be skeptical about you at first but once they realize how much Jace cares for you they’re willing to give you a chance

And if they end up liking you then that’s the final confirmation that Jace wants you in his life forever

Max doesn’t care

If Jace likes you then he likes you

Jace doesn’t want to imagine a future without you

He fidgets a lot

Dates with him can be fun

He’s an active body and care barely sit still so most of your dates are some sort of physical activity

Or something that requires a lot of walking

He’s the type of person that gets reminded of you everywhere he goes

He sometimes finds it annoying

Other times it can be comforting

He does not want to open up about his traumatic past with anyone, even you

And Jace just doesn’t cry

He probably couldn’t cry if it saved his life

If Jace cried… something awful must of happened

And if he’s upset enough to cry then he gets angry

Sometimes he goes to the piano or the training room if he’s lost in thought

A lot of times you’ll be in the music room doing whatever while Jace works at the piano

He likes your prescence

It comforts him that you’re there because your safe and he just likes that you’re with him

He’s probably not a big hugger

And by that I mean he probably hasn’t hugged anyone in a good year

But he’s fine with that

But he does like getting hugs from his loved ones

He almost never initiates hugs either

He’s a more live in the moment kind of person

He doesn’t enjoy thinking over the past all too much because it stresses him out

And he doesn’t want to worry about the far future either

I wouldn’t say he’s a big cuddled nessacarily

But over time you end up cuddling

But he won’t call it ‘cuddling’

Overall he’s a decent boyfriend

He cares for you and your well-being

But can also be stubborn and lash out

Overtime it decreases because you hold him accountable for it

You are his lover not his parent and you are not going to take care of him like a child

But that doesn’t mean you stop calling him out on his bs

He really respects your opinion and wants you to think highly of him

Something he’s always wanted with others as well but is more communitive about it with you

If the relationship is going to work he knows he needs to be more open

Because it’s not fair or right to you if he expects you to be okay with all his impulse negative emotions that are wrongly directed at you

Magnus even admitted that Jace comes to see him for impromptu therapy sessions

Though Jace definitely doesn’t call them that

He says he asks because Magnus is old and he’s bound to have some good relationship advice

Like every relationship you both still have some communication problems here and there

But the two of you actually end up being a very mature and open couple

Because both of you acknowledged your faults and worked to correct them

Not to mention you have both kind of molded around each other

You still have separate lives of course but you both always have each other in the back of your mind

Your relationship has also somewhat become something to look up to

Because you know these ShadowHunters do not sort out their problems with each other

But Jace has never been the average Shadowhunter either

at the end of the day Jace would sacrifice everything for you

Because that’s what you are to him

And he never fails to show it

Other than Star Wars, what movies or shows do you think Simon and Izzy like to watch together?

Oh, FUCK YEAH. SIZZY ASK HOURS.

They both give off the vibe of adoring geeky nonsense, so I think they'd be all over a personal favourite of mine: Scott Pilgrim vs The World. Simon would absolutely love the special effects of the evil exes turning to coins, and Izzy would criticise everything that the characters are doing wrong in action scenes. Also you cannot convince me that Simon has not called Isabelle "his Ramona Flowers" and been met with an "I'm not your pixie dream manic girl," which Simon just loses it at because it's totally out of order since she just discovered the concept. Much like the book that is also a face.

In any case, another saga that I think they would enjoy is Lord of the Rings. I've never seen it, but I think it would be a movie that they like because of its classic nerd value.

I personally and selfishly want them to be Good Omens junkies and ship the Ineffable Husbands. I think Thomas and Alastair would likely be Good Omens fans if they lived in the present day, so I only hope that Isabelle will follow in her husband's tradition. I think that for a con Simon dresses up as an eerily accurate Aziraphale and Isabelle dresses as a Sexy! Female! Crowley, and they have a blast.

Another show that I definitely think Simon made Isabelle watch is Firefly, which got her interested in Joss's other work. When she learned about Buffy, it was absolutely something she HAD to see. They end up watching the entire show together. Isabelle strongly relates to Buffy in a myriad of ways, and Simon finds it so funny and cute.

They also definitely watch anime together, and sometimes they do so with Clary and Jace (since Clary and Simon are both anime nerds). My stupid little obsessed brain likes to think Simon appreciates the Classics and adores Urusei Yatsura, and Isabelle adores Lum and VITRIOLICALLY hates Ataru at first (but he grows on her). I think she'd adore Benten, while Simon would argue that Ran is the "hotter space babe". And Isabelle would be like, "Ran will kill you." And Simon will be like, "Oyuki is no better. You'll freeze." Which is true.

But anyway, they definitely have also seen every Ghibli film. Simon's favorite is Howl's Moving Castle, and Isabelle likes it but prefers Spirited Away because of all the monsters. It's like, an AU Downworld.

Every time I see Jamie replying to someone it's Ella, why?! Do other fans have interesting questions? Don't they deserve an answer? Or are there only a few fans good enough to get an answer and then the others?! I'm not saying that he has to answer to everyone. But randomly. Or rather to no one. In this way, he only harms himself. He is losing followers on IG as well as on X. And that's a real shame.

I've been a fan of Jamie since Mortal Instruments: City of bones (who wouldn't love Jace?!), but I've only been following him on social media for a short time and I feel like I started at a very bad time. Which makes me sad, but I won't hold a grudge against him because of that.

However, after all that I have read about him, it seems to me that he is not in his own skin. It seems to me that he has lost himself and needs to find out who he really is.

Even if he's only replying to her because she asks about the merch, other people ask about it too. A lot of other people. There's that one person I saw who's asked multiple times about their merch and how they haven't gotten it yet. I see other people asking about it. If it was marketing he'd respond to a lot more people about this. It's odd that he plays favorites with only a handful of fans and a lot of them are either known to be unstable or Jess stans. It makes me wonder how much of a part of his social media she is because this doesn't account for how much he replies to her and no one else.

I know this idea isn’t new at all but I’ve been sad about this all day.

Aemond is Alicent’s favourite because he reminds her so much of Rhaenyra, same with Luke being Rhaenyra’s favourite because he reminds her so much of the old Alicent. They are not at all the same person but their stories are somewhat parallel. Both Aemond and Rhaenyra were (sort of) happy before a tragic event (losing a mother/ losing an eye) made them resentful, Rhaenyra has made more than a few comments about the maesters because she believes they are to blame, she grew more distant with her father and especially with Alicent after they wed. Aemond resents the strong boys and his father for the lack of consequences they didn’t suffer. This parallel also kinda shows it’s self in the Driftmark episode. Aemond and Rhaenyra were both permanently scarred by a brunette who’s judgement was clouded by anger. Both brunettes didn’t receive a consequence for their actions. Both Aemond and Rhaenyra try to seek justice in their own ways later, Aemond through storms end and Rhaenyra through making Alicent bow to her (or blood and cheese)

The Alicent and Luke parallels are mostly shown in young Alicent. It is no secret that Luke acts similarly towards younger Alicent but the moment that I believe makes them the most similar is in the throne room when his inheritance comes into question, and the scene where Rhaenyra is told Alicent is going to be her stepmother. The way young Alicent just stands staring at Rhaenyra, picking her nails and overflowing with anxiety, all I think about is Luke in that scene, frantically looking between his mother and Vaemond as he’s being accused of being a bastard.

The rivalry Aemond and Luke has is somewhat reminiscent of Alicent’s and Rhaenyra’s as well. Aemond hates Luke with a burning passion after his eye and his judgement will be clouded in future situations due to it (the dinner and storms end) Luke obviously feels bad but has to keep up a front as to not seem weak, like giggling at the pig pit in front of Aemond and looking around the table for validation from Daemon or Jace.. almost exactly like Alicent is with her own father.

There are so many more parallels between these characters that I just don’t have the time to talk about, like Aemond and Rhaenyra both going to the brothel at a young age to “learn” from older family members. Or how Aemond and Rhaenyra both have a Strong romantic interest. Or Alicent going to Aemond for comfort like she used to with Rhaenyra and Rhaenyra comforting Luke like she used to comfort Alicent.

I love psychologically analyzing Lesbian lovers and their children 🫶

Decides to genocide a entire noble House which was TEAM GREEN because they were related to the Velaryon boys, possibly getting Aegon poisoned down the line(Larys wanting revenge for the doom of his House is what makes sense about him killing Aegon)

Spending his time committing war crimes that will come back to bite his brother and his mother´s asses after Rhaenyra´s death.

The erasure of Aegon as a character is my villain origin story!!! Can't wait for the most unserious scene in TV history.

Team black here, and I got to say I've seen your and your anons criticism about Ryan's favoritism and to be honest I agree but it's not just about how Aegon is written compared to how Aemond is written, it's also about how all the young characters are written compares to Aemond Jace,luke,baela and rhaena all have been vilified by Ryan for the sake of giving a poor me sob story for Aemond. Rhaena and Baela weren't in the fight in the book, and Jace and luke have been turned into bullies and not only that, Jace canonical talents and skills with the sword, being studious and worthy of being the next ruler (after rhaenyra) the maesters said something similar to Jace proved himself to be worthy of being the prince of the iron throne all of it have been taken away and given to Aemond in show. Jace and luke could care less about Aemond's stupid toast in the book and the fight was between Aegon and Jace because of Helaena. Ryan made them instead get angry because of Aemond's speech not to mention he made Jace who has been described as tall and strong just like Harwin to gets pushed down into the ground by Aemond whose greatest achievement as a fighter is killing some random 80yr man. Luke whose mother is a valeryian supremacist can't even speak valeryian properly while Aemond can lmaoo. Not to mention that Laena used to have a scene while she claims Vhaegar as a brave 12yr girl but Ryan cut that out because he wants Aemond's scene to be more impressive? Rhaena who grown up dragonless doesn't has any backstory and the show doesn't even focus on her pain while Aemond had given a fully made up bullying story? There is no mention of the impressive fact that helaena as 11/12 was able to claim one of the largest/oldest dragons of that time? There is nothing wrong for a writer to like a certain character but not to the point of literally stealing and destroying other characters just to make their fave the only likable character. And I wonder what trying to woobify a mass murder and a rapist whose greatest achievement is about killing innocents and children while destroying and subjecting female characters truly says about Ryan?

I agree with you, we should've seen Laena and Helaena claiming their HUGE dragons at such a young age. I honestly think that it wouldn't make Aemond's scene less impactful, we would get way more attached to Vhagar and see that Laena was her own woman and worthy of the biggest dragon in the known world.

As I said before, the feminist angle is just to stop criticism of bad writing.
