The amount of victim blaming is astonishing and appalling in that ask. How dare people say ‘it’s a you problem’ like yeah it obviously is???? And the environment cultivated isn’t helping. a person was struggling and reaching out for comfort. Jesus Christ can people be anymore crass

I don’t know if there was malice in those responses since it’s the Internet but it felt that way. I apologize if I misinterpreted.

Besides the anon mentioned a therapist we don’t know what stage of recovery they are in throwing around the word npd could have been triggering in the moment. They might still have npd still ascribed to one specific person — which from the looks of it they most likely did. It’s probably not meant to be a blanket statement as a whole for an entire community of people this person has not met. And that’s not their fault. and no having npd or aspd does not inherently make someone bad but damn Disney certainly does do a good job at making it seem that way no?

If you live in America the healthcare system sucks. the education system sucks. I can only speak from where I’m from. If I hadn’t gone out of my way to educate myself on mental health topics, I’d probably be one of these people on Twitter saying ‘loki is so narcissistic hes only capable of loving himsElf hahah’

On one hand representation matters. I agree it’s important for people to become familiar with these things. If we’re familiar it’ll become less scary and less stigmatized but is this really the representation people want? Why do I feel like people are jeering and othering loki based on these traits— I have to assume it’s these ascribed traits because there’s nothing else to him?? Is he funny? No. Is he smart? No. I could go on. He’s more of an outcast in his own show than anywhere else. I think in last night’s episode he referred to one of Loki’s as ‘monsters’ ??? Yeah feelin the self love there. The ‘monster’ word really touched a nerve for me. Quick! Someone ask Tom how he feels about that when he comes to tumblr.

The Wanda show for all its flaws.. she still got to grieve. SamBucky show didnT treat his ptsd as a joke. These characters moved. They went from point A with their feelings to point B with a completely different feeling. but somehow for loki.. it feels like theyre making a mockery of him and what he represents . More people should be mad about this. The work is rushed sloppy and underdeveloped. Loki deserves better. we deserve better. I think they should have left him dead. No frost giant =( nofrigga =( not even anything about the impact living in Asgard would have on him as a frost giant. That could have been a phenomenal Segway into imperialism and othering of the “enemy” but whatever I guess.

And it’s not just mental health it’s the way theyre handling his queer identity?? What’s going on with that??? I’m fighting the urge not to say they made him incompetent because he’s queer and That the writer / directors arent feeding into male queer stereotypes.

You know… going through the loki tag all I see in masses are ship wars & harmful hurtful misinformation about ASPD. Not once did I come across something where we heard how the mess the writers created impacted actual real life victims. People turn to these characters for comfort. and with Response like the ones under that post is probably why we won’t hear from them.

Last year during quarantine I binged a lot of superhero content because I felt helpless so I understand the closeness one can feel even to a fictional character. I’m trying not to take anyone’s acts of self preservation personally but By the gods. What a mess.

While this little episode yesterday was mildly annoying, your ask was one of today's highlights, and you raise so many good points, I think everyone deserves to see some of your takes. And thank you, your praise and kind message is very much appreciated, my dear :)

Telling someone their pain is their own fault or not real (or "a you problem") is one of the worst things you can say to a person in pain and it makes them just feel even more horrible. And it doesn't matter if this person has a chronic illness, mental health issues, a disorder, or nothing at all.

So I'd like to say just this once that my blog is supposed to be a safe place to have civilized discussions and have fun or grouch together. But if someone comes into my house and attacks my guests or sends me hate mail and death threats, just know I'll block them without a second thought. Do they spark joy, do they not spark joy? Follow or block, easy as that. The main reblogger from that post was talking from a point of personal experience, is my best guess, and their reaction is therefore at least understandable, though I didn't appreciate the way they talked to anon. I sincerely hope they mispoke, as I'm sure we all do at some point. I'm not always as eloquent as I want to be, that's for sure lol The other meanies though...not so much. To be honest, I'm so confused by the notion that some people automatically assume that if you talk about a specific person that hurt you and mention one of their traits or an illness, you mean that everyone having that trait is a monster when that's not in the least what you're saying. Saying this one person hurt me, this is how, and that's why this interpretation hurts me, shouldn't get you victim blamed. Victim blaming is bad, this shouldn't be a hot take. I'm not from the US, so I don't have the same strained relationship with the health care system. My country's health care system is actually top of the tier (hard to believe sometimes, though), so I don't quite know how to get professional medical help or information without trusting the sources. The assumption that I was talking about ableist lying shit, when I was actually talking about the stuff in the waiting room of the therapist center or what the women's house around the corner or a lawyer hand their clients and patients, and then gets checked by national health institutions to be put online for easy reach for people who might seek help without someone (maybe abusive) noticing. Trusted sources, people, you have to find believable, trusted sources.

I'm actually quite well versed when it comes to different diagnoses, procedures, disorders and health issues. In part because of school and uni, in part because of the people in my life. NPD just isn't one of them, so thank you for the link. I think at this point everyone knows at least one person struggling with pain. Getting on top of every health issue can feel quite impossible when faced with the varied mass we know today and all the advances we make in therapy and medication. We should always educate ourselves, but no one can know everything all the time, we all have topics we specialize in. And getting screamed at won't make anyone learn faster.

Which brings me to your next point, which is a Loki point, yay! :D And boooo, because how mental health is handled when it comes to Loki is just disgraceful. No matter which interpretation of Loki you like or what illness or problem you associate with him (from PTSD to child neglect and abuse, from NPD to depression), he was done dirty. The show's making fun of him, undermining his pain, belittling his feelings and past experiences and showing us that mental health is a laughing matter to Marvel/Disney/Waldron. Disney did fairly well with WandaVision in parts (still not sure how), I concur, but I haven't forgotten how they treated Thor's PTSD and fatshamed him or how Ragnarok turned Loki's suicide attempt into a joke at a party.

It's not what issues Loki has or not, it's how he's treated and depicted in relation to those issues. They're throw-away lines at best, misinformation at meh, and harmful messages they want to hammer home at worst. Which of course hurts the people, the fans, who saw something of themselves in Loki.

Same goes for Loki's gender and sexuality. He's Disney's 8th first gay character, after all. That tells us everything. I think as long as some people refuse to curate their own fandom experience like blacklist topics, block people, or just simply skip over posts that go against their personal preferences, there will always be some storm brewing on the horizont. We can just continue to search for the people and niches we vibe with, have fun and keep our own blogs safe havens for other likeminded people to find us or find a place where they don't feel alone anymore.

green haze | Vigilante!Midoriya is known as the Green Haze, a vigilante, Eraserhead’s supposed to capture. Shenanigans happen.

2am Knows All Secrets | One of those classic Kiribaku fics that trickle through the ranks. Lots of fluff, with good ol’ tropes like sharing a bed and mutual pining and Good Friends, and-it’s great.

The life of a hero | Such a good series. It’s so amazing. It gives angst and pain but then soothes it over with fluff, but then it tears you apart... and then it gives you life... a great read.

The Last Resort | This is basically pure angst. It’s so painful, but it’s such a good story... Shinsou was sold as a young child to a yakuza. This yakuza would rent out people for their quirks... This is an amazing read, but don’t expect any fluff from this. (Check the tags! WIP)

¥300 Shampoo | When Aizawa’s working on a book at the cafe, he certainly doesn’t expect someone pulling his hair. He definitely doesn’t expect getting a free haircut out of it, either.

quote love unquote | Take the official summary “When Kirishima Eijirou's band hits the big time, he's not prepared for his newfound fame. He's even less prepared to meet the actor he's been crushing on for years, or to start dating him as a publicity stunt. The closer Kirishima gets to Bakugou Katsuki, the more he realizes he's in over his head. But it's hard to stop, once his heart is in it.”

lovin is easy | Blasty doesn’t get “feelings,” so here’s five times Bakugou doesn’t get love and one time he does. (WIP)

The Empath & The Mind Reader | Bakugou is a mind reader, and Kirishima is a empath. If both of them can literally know what the other person’s feeling/thinking, why are they still dancing around each other? (WIP, Contains smut, Anxiety attacks)

and finally I see the world in color (the violet stands out, thanks to you) | This fic deserves a LOT more than just 76 kudos. Sometimes people miss out on amazing fics just because it’s a femslash. Momojirou, where Yaoyaorozu is a businesslady who is bored with her life and everything else, until she happens upon the rambunctious band Dark Shadow. Seriously, please read this! (WIP)

Behind The Scenes | A KiriBaku actor AU. What happens when you start falling for your co-star - and your on-screen love interest? (WIP, It’s rated E for smut, but there isn’t any yet)

We Didn't Start the Fire | What if Touya decided to make something out of himself instead of becoming a villain? This is amazing, by the way. (WIP)

it seems i'm never letting go | Here’s how I summarized it to myself... “Koi no yokan... will Blasty experience it? (His sister left)” By the way, koi no yokan is basically love at first sight, Japanese-style. (WIP)

Lips Like Blood | What happens when Bakugou, a mage, falls in love with the one person who can’t love him back? (WIP)

Charm Me, Loser | A Hogwarts AU that has no right being that ingenius and amazing. My only problem with it is sorta small... There’s already a wizarding school in Japan... Why aren’t they going there? (WIP)

Gotta Get Away | Tsuyu and Bakugou are out getting some new hero merch together because of the new buddy system at UA. What happens when they’re mistaken for a couple? (WIP)

Opposed to the Typical | A fashion AU. This is ridiculously good. It feels like the author was actually in the Japanese fashion industry! (WIP, smut, past child abuse, mental health issues)

One Day at a Time | Pretty genius idea, actually. Bakugou and Uraraka are trapped in what is essentially a time-speeder-upper. What’s going to be a day for their classmates is going to be a year for them. What will they do in that year together? (WIP, it’s rated Mature but it’s pretty innocent so far)

The UA Quarantine Collection | Basically, a bunch of authors got together and made a ton of one-shots of what Class 1A is doing in quarentine. Technically it isn’t a coherent story, but I’m counting it as one. There’s two versions, a clean version and a version with all the smutty bits. The smutty one’s the second story in the series. This one’s linked to the clean one. (WIP)

Midoriya Fuckin' Izuku | This is an amazing fic! It has a ton of TWs, though. Make sure to read the tags before starting it! (WIP)

Seeing Double | A very good, and very long, fantasy AU. (WIP, smut)

Broken, but Still Good | Bakugou was rescued, after four years, from an illegal alpha fighting ring. Can Kirishima, a beta, help him back to society? Pay attention to the tags. (WIP, A/B/O)
