more firefighter show stuff
so abby's back! still not a huge fan of the whole ghosting thing, but i accept it at this point.
buck and bobby fighting <3 there is so much insubordination in this show. anyways it reminds me of how earlier this year my husband helped out with academy training this year on account of he's going to get promoted so he had to go practice being a superior officer with some of their training and he was telling me all the scenarios they run going in to practice saving firefighters stuck inside. one of them is literally you can't save the firefighter (seriously, if you manage to somehow reach them in the tower at all before time is called the person in question will actively move away from you because you have to practice that no win scenario) and then you have to drag out someone who's fighting to stay in to try and "save" the dude. the year my husband did academy supposedly someone punched someone trying to get back into the tower in the name of acting, you had a bunch of dudes fake crying, they bring the "dead" guy out with an american flag and my husband was there like 😐
oh abby. farewell and good for you getting out of this mess. enjoy your life!
alright and i'm gonna go ahead and snark on maddie's pregnancy test there. because it is absolutely hilarious to me. so the pregnacy test she is holding looks to be a FRER (first response early result). i know these very well on account of i've probably taken like. between 50-100 of them total throughout my TTC journey, squinting at so many of them. they're what's called a "pink line" test and are generally seen as more reliable within the ttc community (you can also get cheap pink line tests for way cheaper (i also had many of those) but they tend to need a slightly higher level of hcg to pop a positive--i believe the FRERs will catch at about 10 mcg hcg in the urine, regular cheapies at 25 mcg hcg but it's been a bit so i could be wrong). with a pink line test you get two pink vertical lines on the test strip so it'll look like | |. the other type of test is a blue line test. blue line tests tend to be a little less reliable as in you're more likely to get a false positive and with a blue line test you get your result in the shape of a plus sign--if it's positive you see a blue +. On Maddie's FRERs they appear to have mixed the two tests--you can see it shows + |. it's just very funny to me because that's just not how those work lmao. (the digital tests that spit out pregnant or not pregnant on the screen are just fancy pink line tests. they just have a digital reader to see if there's one or two lines so you don't have to squint). also sematically i lowkey hate "we're pregnant". nah, only one of you is pregnant. "i'm pregnant, we're having a baby".
and onto season 4.
well. to start, maddie can have a cup of coffee. caffeine is not longer forbidden in pregnancy, they're told up to 300 mcg is fine. oh good, albert got her some. see this is why albert is my second favorite.
but this storyline does hit home a bit because i also had a pandemic pregnancy. luckily things were good enough in our county that my husband was able to participate in prenatal care as much as normal and we didn't feel like we needed to separate. though there was a lot of "hey you know that call you just wore a regular mask on versus n95 because it wasn't respiratory? that person tested positive." somehow we stayed clear in our household until january 2022 though lol. i was terrified when they did my covid test when i got admitted for delivery that it would somehow be positive.
anyways. we're getting to the buckley parents! i'm lowkey excited.
i did get scared when they deployed to texas though, i was very afraid i would have to see rob lowe on my screen.
but good, we don't. we have a terrible woman in the neighborhood in the next episode and can i also say that actress plays chessy in the parent trap and why would you do chessy like that, show!!!
oh man the buckleys are almost comically inept to me. like they're clearly not great. clearly they do seem to love their children. i can tell there's no sympathy for a parent who literally had a child of theirs die (i mean. yea. they did not handle it well.). i do have to laugh a little about the baby box thing because while. hm. obviously it's compounded by their overall terribleness but like. it's also kind of an unfortunate fact of life that younger siblings don't always get everything their older siblings gets because life gets so busy with multiples you genuinely don't have time or energy to keep up with the cutesy stuff. my sil is 9 years older than my husband. my mil did start a baby book for him...it ended at 9 months. she does feel a little bad about it. (my husband doesn't care and thinks it's funny).
like i will not defend the buckleys too much. they are clearly very dysfunctional. like the let's never talk about your dead brother and pretend he never existed is pretty awful, but aside from that, they kind of seem like. idk. run of the mill shitty parents?
every single one of these assholes has shown up to their first day without donuts. so rude.
wait. okay. watching the end of this episode. these are the devil parents???? the ones who don't know their children but end the episode finally telling him that they never blamed him and they're proud of him every day??? like. buck doesn't have to forgive them like he chose to. he doesn't owe them anything. but at least there's an attempt by them to try to make amends and apologize??? i mean it might be too little too late but they don't seem to be totally evil.
oh and they agreed to go to therapy with him to try and work things out????
wait. if the probie is b shift, that would make the main characters c shift, right? i was going to make a joke about c shift but then i looked up the actual lafd shift schedule and holy fuck is it needlessly confusing. 24on/24off/24on/24off/24on/96off? christ. people can barely understand 24-48 schedule sometimes. but they do have to do weird things to reduce total number of hours within the year worked on account of they work over 40 hours a week so weird schedules abound i guess.
anyways, it still works out to about 10 days of work/month like a traditional 24-48 does somehow so i guess it works. but why, lafd, why. that genuinely sounds like such a miserable schedule to keep track of i can't even-

Writing, OCD, and "What If?"
I have OCD. It went undiagnosed for most of my life, but then things like that were only spoken of in very hushed tones in the early decades of my life.
I thought things like "counting steps in fours!" was because I had been immersed in music all my life, so it was only natural that the most common time measure, 4/4, was a part of my life.
And I thought things like "developing a system to remind myself that something on the stove or oven is ON--the stove light--OR something in that area needs to be handled in a few hours when it's cooled off--covered dishes, jarred foods for fridge & freezer, etc--and it can ONLY be turned off when everything on or around the stove is off AND taken care of!" was just sensible. (It's also an ADHD management tool, because unless I remember to set a timer, I can forget...but I've trained my family to Look Around The Kitchen To See What Needs Doing If The Stove Light Is Still On, too...so it works!)
Anyway, I just saw a commercial--skipped over it after a few seconds--that talked about OCD thoughts also including "What If? scenarios.
My first reaction was a sort of mental snort-laugh, and I thought to myself, "I do that all the time as a writer! I use What If to create stories!"
They were talking about, "What if someone in my family gets hurt because I'm not happy all the time?" and other, far more intrusive thoughts which I won't get into here. And I realized...yes, I have those thoughts, too. Apparently OCD includes Intrusive Thoughts in its category umbrella. (I learned something today!)
But then I re-thought about it, and realized...I use What If like a UNO Reverse Card, and I also use my OCD like a UNO Reverse Card, by turning a potential negative into a positive. In the kitchen, I have set up a series of decade-long habits: Stove Light Is On, Check What's Going On. There's food in the slow cooker, there's foil over a cooling casserole, there's jarred meaty spaghetti sauce to be checked to see if it's finally cool enough to freeze, or even just stick in the fridge. (I always cover my food while it's still very hot to reduce chances for spoilage.) (Also the meat sauce we made just a couple days ago was soooo gooood, I kept wanting to snatch a bowlful and just eat it as-is, lol. Managed to put away 5 quart jars, so yay, that's five meals' worth of magnificence!)
In writing, that "What If?" has been turned away at least some of the time from bad or at least disruptive/disturbing intrusive thoughts...into a powerful tool for positive things.
I use What If all the time when thinking of story ideas, scene ideas, characterization ideas...and then--and here's the important part--I use that What If scenario (which sometimes can be A Bad Thing), and I figure out how to make it right again.
Here's a somewhat upsetting scenario of an intrusive thought, "What if I drove off this bridge?" WHOA, TOTALLY NOT WHAT I WANT TO THINK!! (which is why it's called an intrusive thought, it's an intruder that is unwanted...so I remind myself that this is not me, just my brain crossing wires and sparking utter BS.)
To grab control of my mental steering wheel, I FIRMLY think instead, "What if my character from (story) saw someone on the edge of a bridge? How would THEY handle that situation?"
There was a guy down in Australia (Donald Taylor Ritchie, may he rest in peace) who saved hundreds of would-be jumpers' lives over the decades by just talking with them, and inviting them to sit and have a cup of tea while he listened and commiserated, giving compassion & comfort & sympathy at his home near a certain bridge.
Or I might have a thought, "What if the building catches on fire???"
I think instead, "How would my hero save the day if a fire DID break out, either here or in their current location?"
I'm not trying to make me the hero...because that's hella exhausting some days and my brain fights me on that, those days. I'm trying to retrain my brain to use the Intrusive Thought in creative and constructive ways that don't force me to actually act. It's telling my OCD to Sit Down, You're Not On Stage Here, It's Another Character's Turn On Stage.
...This has had the subtle but powerful effect of training my mind to disengage my body, especially when it's one of those, "Dump in ALL the Turmeric!!" moments...which is an uncomfortable thought as it's a large jar and there's still a lot in there, and it's a natural dye that will stain EVERYTHING it touches. But I digress.
If you have OCD and Intrusive Thoughts...first, my deepest sympathies, I really do understand. Second, you can learn to Uno-Reverse the negative sides of such things. Good kitchen safety habits are one. What Would My Character Do is another.
Third, if you think of it as a training-for-an-emergency scenario, you're actually far more likely to be able to act in a genuine emergency...because this is OCD's secret super power.
But if you're afraid that thinking about it from your perspective will have you actually doing it (when it's not needed)...then think about your characters doing it.
And if you're not a writer? Think of it as a character in a roleplaying game, tabletop or video game. Heck, think of it as the characters from Stardew Valley, or Minecraft, or No Man's Sky! Remove it from you, personally, to Someone Else's Experience Entirely.
It takes practice, and it's a subtle effect...but it's a powerful tool in the end.

Tumblr media
The sun sets as they move silently together. By now the academy knows that the girls have defected. Something that was inevitable, they just didn’t know how soon it would be. They’ve made good timing and should make it to China around noon tomorrow. As long as they make it through the night, they should arrive at the coast without a problem. As they move through the trees, using only the light of the moon to guide them, Yura pauses.
She holds her breath, eyes shifting around instantly, all of her senses are on high alert as she scans the dark area in front of them. Rina’s eyes move towards her partner’s, their bodies move together like a well oiled machine, both of them working and training together for years means they can read each other’s body language swiftly without saying a single word.
The girls jump up together, clutching onto a branch of neighboring trees and swinging their bodies upwards. Both make the climb up as quietly as possible while keeping an eye out for the threat below them. Rina removes her favorite suppressed Beretta from a hidden pocket in her bag while Yura’s hand is clutching one of her daggers as they make their way up through the branches. Even with the slight breeze in the air, they’ve managed to hide themselves completely when they finally see movement. Two figures creep through the trees underneath them, dressed in all black bodysuits they each hold their own guns. Their footsteps are deliberate and light when Rina glances at the weapons in their hands, noticing a familiar gold emblem on the side of the pistol.
Academy issued.
Mentally the Choi girl releases a sigh of relief, she’d expected the academy to send more agents, especially since they were supposed to be the face of the school. This was a fight she knew they could get out of in a matter of minutes, 30 minutes tops if she had to count.
Yura’s eyes trace over the figures of the two bodies below. One’s hair is a short black bob at the neck and the other’s is secured in a high ponytail down her back. Covering their faces are the Academy’s uniform masks, watching the way they glided along the forest floor, she knew exactly who stood below them. After the realization, her eyes move to lock in with her sisters.
Yura silently catches her sister’s attention and tilts her head in the direction of the pair tracking them below. Following Yura’s direction, Rina’s eyes fall to where they stand beneath them. Realizing who it is in an instant, she confirms with a nod of her head before moving her focus back to the ground.
With this new information, the gears in her head began to shift. Rina knew now it was about a 70/30 chance that they would get out of the woods alive. The twins might be the top two in the school, but the two trailing them now were numbers 3 and 4. Because of their close ranks, the girls have spent a lot of time together. They experienced amazing victories and harsh punishments together in their time at the Academy, forming a close bond through the years. With the school knowing this information, Rina knew this was  Headmaster Chaerin’s way of extending an olive branch before they decided to bring out more lethal methods. Her mind races with different ways to approach this without causing harm to her colleagues, her friends, and though she’d like this to proceed without any bloodshed, she cannot guarantee that outcome confidently.
Knowing not to move without Rina’s signal, Yura watches her sister's face through the leaves. Another familiar look etched on her face with the slightest raise of her brow. Looking, seeing, analyzing. Completely aware of her surroundings, every tree, every bush, her partner across from her, and the blade in her hand with the intention to drive it into any (and every) threat; aware of both girls approaching below them on foot, their training, their orders, every move they make, and every breath they take.
This is Athena.
Yura smirks to herself, always in awe at how fast her sister can come up with a flawless strategy at a moment's notice.
After her glazed eyes retained focus, she looks over and sees Yura already waiting for instruction. She points to the ground, indicating for Yura to go down first, and with a quick twist of her wrist signaling the direction for their course of attack, Yura nods her head with a slight smile, immediately understanding the plan.
Jihyo and Ryujin stop underneath them before talking to each other quietly, the short-haired girl crouches down, examining the spot where Rina stood just a few minutes ago, probably trying to figure out where their tracks stopped. The twins did their best to be careful, but they knew it was only a matter of time before the Academy caught up. The school not only trained the best assassins in Korea, but they ranked number one across the globe. The agents below them were trained to be just as skillful and dangerous as they are, Not to mention Jihyo herself was ranked the Academy’s most skilled tracker for the last three years.
Yura leaps from the tree, though it's a bit far off the ground she lands silently behind them. All it takes is two quick steps and she has Jihyo pinned with her knife at the girl's throat. Ryujin turns quickly at the sound of her partner struggling, making eye contact with her old classmate, seeing the cold glint in Yura’s eyes, Ryujin knew she was dealing with Ares.
“Surprised you were able to catch up to us this fast.” Yura says calmly.
Jihyo’s hand struggles to remove Yura’s from her throat, but ceases immediately when she feels the blade pressing further against her skin. All the shared memories of jokes and compassion for one another are gone from the eyes of 2ne1’s notorious silent killer. Although Ryujin’s gun is aimed at her she pays it no mind. Already knowing that her sister is in the trees above, alert and ready with a clear shot aimed at the girl's head.
And Athena never misses a shot.
The moonlight glints against the tennis bracelet on Yura’s wrist, something that doesn’t go unnoticed by Jihyo.
“Was all it took for you to defect, some cheap bribes?” Her voice is tight through her mask.
Yura’s emotionless face is silent. Her contradicting emotions battle inside her head as her eyes never leave Ryujin’s face across from her.
“They sent you. Why?” Her words come out more as a statement as she proceeds with Rina’s plan.
“You can’t defect!” Jihyo struggles to say.
“What are you, my mother?” Yura scoffs.
“The academy needs you and you know it!” She continues.
Yura’s irritated eyes travel to the choking girl in her arms.
“What the academy needs is their killing machines, and I’m no longer a part of it. Sending you two to retrieve us was a low blow even for them.”
“We volunteered.” Ryunjin removes her mask and makes a step towards the girl she once called a friend, her gun in hand slowly moving downwards.
“What?” Yura’s eyes snap up to Ryujin’s.
Rina, who was slowly shifting down branch by branch, paused at the girl’s words. She watched Ryujin’s gun lower, but didn’t fail to notice as her other hand grazed her side, retrieving the blade attached to her thigh. The four may be close, but at the end of the day their partner’s lives will always come first. Rina knew this better than anyone, especially with Ares present. Despite Yura doing her best to hold herself back for the sake of her friends, the eldest Choi knew she had to act quickly.
Jihyo takes Yura’s shock tone as an opening and attempts to flip her attacker, but instead is greeted with a tighter grip, causing a bit of blood to run down her neck. Ryujin hears the slight struggle and throws the blade in her hand.
A bullet is fired out from behind Ryujin at the same time, knocking the blade to the ground before it could land its intended target.
     “Shouldn’t have done that Ry.”
A voice from behind her says quietly, Rina finally makes her appearance from the tree’s shadows, walking up silently and placing the barrel of her own gun flush to the back of the girl's head.
“And you know I never miss my target.” Rina whispers against her ear.
Tumblr media
After the initial scare, Ryujin holds her hands up in defeat. Allowing Yura to finally release her captive. Jihyo coughs while clutching her wounded neck while moving to stand next to Ryujin, finally removing her own face mask.
Rina removes her own weapon from Ryujin and stands with Yura. The four girls stand across from each other for a moment fully taking in their situation. The twins have known the girls in front of them long enough to know how emotional they could get in sticky situations like this one. Despite the injury, Jihyo’s tears welled in her eyes as she looked at her friends.
“You’re leaving us!” Jihyo cracks out into the silence.
Ryujin continues although her voice holds a slight tremble as she speaks.
“We volunteered to retrieve you ourselves, leaving our earpieces somewhere in the stream we stumbled upon a while ago.” She starts, “You’re our seniors, our closest friends- you can’t leave us in that hell alone. We signed the oath together…and y-... and you didn’t even say goodbye. ” She finishes with her own tears beginning to creep in her eyes.
The twins’ gaze drifts to each other briefly, Yura does nothing but shrug, crossing her arms in silence.
“You don’t even care.” Jihyo is quick to assess Yura’s stance, a scoff coming out of her mouth at the sight.
“Of course, we care, Jihyo.” Rina is quick to rebuttal.
“We’re just not going back.” Yura says matter of factly.
Her eyes glanced over them, but her face held no emotion.
“We’ve done terrible things, things that have to be righted.”
Rina nods her head in agreement.
“But that doesn’t mean we can’t come back for you.”
The girls in front of them are confused.
“We can’t tell you when because honestly, we don’t know ourselves. What we do know is that if you cover for us, we'll come back for you.” Yura states, her pinky held out in front of them.
An old gesture that has followed the four classmates from childhood. Ryujin is quick to take it, locking her finger tightly as they press their thumbs together. Jihyo and Rina stand the same. This was another difficult goodbye for the Choi girls, they all had shared a million memories together, both new experiences and hellish nightmares from the Academy that will live with them for the rest of their lives. In the end, Ryujin and Jihyo understood what their friends were doing, something they too thought about on occasion, but never had the strength to act on it themselves. With this promise, they’ll finally be able to.
“We’ll buy you time.” Jihyo states, “You must hurry. Go!”
The twins nod, looking their two friends over one last time before taking off further into the woods towards the coast.

Give us more information then we will ask questions
Oh no there’s a lot of stuff to inform about, so here’s a big ol post!
BONDED BROTHERS AU
Fullmetal Alchemist and Pokémon/Submas twins crossover AU for those of us with brain rot for these things!
Present Time: This takes place along the plot of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood! Ingo vanished 4 years ago and since then, Emmet has been learning how to perform alchemy and more specifically ✨human transmutation✨ Upon doing so, Emmet learns that Truth/Arceus has Ingo in a form of Limbo and Emmet is able to bind his brother’s soul to Chandelure. Ingo only knows his name and what little he managed to remember during his time in Hisui! He’s even forgotten Hisui as a result of him being pulled into Limbo (keep in mind this is a merging of FMAB and Pokémon lore and not just one or the other)
Emmet moves from Nimbasa, leaving the subway to Chili, Cress, and Cilan who are very eager to take this task and are very much trusted by Emmet to do so! (Elesa is also there to keep them in check) now this takes place around the same time as the FMAB plot so while Unova may have some darn good technology, I’d say it’s more toned down a bit.
After leaving Nimbasa, Emmet and his now ghost type twin brother take up running the trains of Amestris! On one train ride, Emmet the ever so eager to eavesdrop, catches wind of the Elric brothers who are in a strangely similar situation! Turns out Alphonse is a Golurk now! Without any hesitation, Emmet introduces himself to the two (time for funny shenanigans of a fairly chaotic group of 4 now)
They become teamed up with a similar goal in mind, going through a fairly similar story as FMAB but with quite a few twists due to additional characters
Hisui Time: The only sins around at the time are Pride, Lust, Greed, and Envy. (We have messed with the timeline just a bit so if it seems a little off then it’s on purpose 👀) Envy is pretty much new, Greed has left on his own already and made his way to Hisui as he goes about on his own. Pride and Lust are older than the other two and thus about as mature and smart as they are in FMAB, while Greed and Envy are much more… well problem children you could say.
Greed arrives in Hisui shortly before Akari does. He’s an annoyance to Jubilife and the clans, but Ingo puts up with him and seems to end up around him fairly often. Akari takes a liking to Greed after realizing he’s not as bad as other say (he is taking their supplies so you can’t blame them) Lust and Envy show up in an attempt to bring their brother back. While there, they catch on to the space time rift and Volo’s plans. This of course gets them to have Pride come out to Hisui with them. They intend to enable Volo and see what he does, especially considering the god he is after is closely tied to Father’s plans.
There is more with Hisui, but it’s not quite as fleshed out and my friend @itty-bitty-tinyplant is working on stuff for Greed’s side of the story! They’re more the FMAB expert!
Extra Info:
The 7 sins are all failed attempts at legendary Pokémon along with what they already are! We’ve got some but not all figured out- Greed is Melmetal, Sloth is Regigigas, Pride is Necrozma, Gluttony is Guzzlord, and Envy is Mew! They’re all able to talk with Pokémon and have the potential to form into one (Envy doing this with little to no effort, while the rest struggle with it)
Father is basically Spiritomb, I feel like there isn’t an explanation needed there 😂
The Pokémon regions are other countries, the first 4 being based on Japan are near Xing, the two European regions are near Amestris, while Unova and Alola are fairly far away to the west!
Some Pokémon trainers such as gym leaders know alchemy (like how some are psychics or can literally see ghosts, let the rock types and such have something cool too lol) meanwhile alchemists can have Pokémon just like anyone else!
THERE IS SO MUCH TO THIS BUT THIS IS LIKE A GOOD AMOUNT OF INFO I THINK!!!

Non of the family was really fighting. They were trying to capture Jason. Jason was trying to run away/stall. There are scores of comics where a group tries to capture Jason and he gets away. Leviathan had Bruce and several league members fight Jason and he beat them. All I know is the issue was one of the few moments since UTRH that stressed how good Jason is a strategy and playing people.
Yes! the way I read it, it feels like an ordinary sibling brawl but vigilante standard. I remember back then when I was a kid when my Mom made me jump into the pool, once I get into the pool, I didn't want to stop to the point of my sister had to drag me out of the pool with physical force (we were both kids, nothing serious happen). same thing here.
Also, your examples show that it's USELESS to debate which one is stronger among batkids because almost DC comics are plot-driven, so it really depends on which one is being the main character/main villain in the series.
i feel like in the TFZ, the bat sibling "fight" is written quite fairly. no one really wins here, not even Jason because TFZ managed to escape but barely and they have to deal with being chased in the next volume.
the complaints feel like they just hate Jason can even hold up against batfam, like it's not allowed for Jason to be slightly competent, he must be the dumbest one against their fav and be beaten easily, which you know, is unfair.

So i got this ask and the more i think about it, you're absolutely absolutely right anon. This must be how this zombie group idea was pitched
Tumblr media
And this one is from Rosenberg's interview, about how Task Force Z comic was pitched

For people that complaining about Jason won against the Batsibling, especially Cass, did you actually read the whole run or just this panel then got angry out of context?

So finally catch up with task force Z (the only run that i read that now since I'm still on DC Comic break).
Not really love Jason's describing himself as the same level with Bane (who literally killed Alfred?! and Jason killed him in issue 4 but now Bane's rising again because death really mean NOTHING in this run, like NOTHING NOTHING)
And no one corrects him, which seems that this is also Rosenberg's take on Jason and not just Jason's being self deprecating
Tumblr media
Like no Jason, maybe this is just me being a Jason's stan, but no, you're not the same, like why suddenly Jason is really into this team? Maybe because they just saved his ass earlier?
However, love Jason and Batman conversation. like what Jason said to Batman is exactly what i think about their relationship too.

esa's potty training adventures - attempt 92734872348732
disclaimer: there is nothing wild about this - it's tiring and tedious and a lot of work and tough lol so i've momentarily given up.
so i've been psuedo "trying" to potty train esa for the past year now. i've been trying to have him sit on the potty, trying to get him to tell me when he needs to go, etc.
the title and the above were the post i had begun about a week and a half ago. but tonight, just under 2 weeks later, i can say...thank god for my mother.
she came, i took my days off, and we took off the diaper. specifically from saturday feb 25th, i took the step of taking the diaper off esa. that day was full of accidents. i started messy and ended the day feeling dejected. it was no fun.
sunday was A LOT better; very few accidents and we managed to catch it all on time.
monday and tuesday i was off; and once again...monday was rough.
tuesday again got a bit better and then my mother dsecided to come back on wednesday (she had to momentarily go back on the 28th to pick up my sister from the airport) and we resumed.
by the end of wednesday i had just about had enough of the constant feeling of not being clean, cleaning up, 110% focusing my energy on every single move that esa made and winding myself up in my own head.
so thursday morning, after many conversations with my daycare, i sent esa back to daycare. i packed 4 pairs of outifts, 3 extra shoes, 4 pairs of socks, 4 pairs of underwear, and a full pack of pull-ups. and i decided with the daycare to proceed with the 3-strike plan - 3 accidents in a row meant back to pull-ups.
and esa didn't have even one accident. even the times that we had decided he would be in his pull-up (during nap and before going outside) - even during those times, he kept his diaper dry.
today he came back from preschool with a little certificate of excellence in potty training.
before i gush, i would like to make it clear - it was a LOT of effort....on my the part of my mother. my mother did SO MUCH. my husband was not around on the weekend (did nothing) and happened to catch the one week when he had to go into the office for work so that was wonderful.
but that certificate. even though it's only that he's keeping his underwear dry, even though he's not doing poo, even though he's not telling to go to the potty when he needs....despite all of that. it's one of the biggest achievements i feel like i've had in my own lifetime.
which as i write it out, it feels like i'm wrong to even think this. it is not my achievement. i shouldn't take that away from my kid. it is actually in truth HIS effort. his almost 3-year-old brain is figuring out the world and i couldn't be more proud. if i could turn on a faucet of my gushing, it would just go on and on.
my kid is doing it, he's doing the growing up thing. i'm so incredibly proud of him. i'm so incredibly melancholy for me. it is of course bittersweet.
anyway, if i keep writing i will not only be gushing in this post, i will also be gushing (*read: straight up bawling) in bed where i'm writing this currently.
so i'm calling it.
it's amazing how well the brain compartmentalizes everything isn't it? on the one hand, i'm having probably the toughest time ever in my marriage (today is our 6th wedding anniversary, no less) and here on the other i can't stop thinking about that little certificate that i have half a mind to frame right now.
but that marriage trip for another day. i'm going to stop now.
good night!
much love,
-k

About Me? (Rules in Keep Reading)
My family on both sides raise Eeveelutions, my father's side tends to train Vaporeon. My step-mother has a Glaceon. My mother's side tends to have Flareon. My mother and my step-father have a small everstoned eevee and an everstoned Galarian zigzagoon respectively. My uncle has a large Jolteon. I'm 25. I'm a man. I have a tendency to rant about things. Usually about Team Plasma. I was raised and live in Striaton. Consider this doxxing myself, porygons lol :). At least as far as doxing can go when my face was in the newspapers.
My partners are:
Tumblr media
Enigma the Espeon. He is rather calm and is very alert to noises. He likes bitter food and hates spicy food. His Ability is Magic Bounce. For technical stuff, his EVs are 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, and 4 Special Defense. His IVs, according to Nurse Joy, are 30 HP, 1 Attack, 20 Defense, 31 Special Attack, 30 Special Defense, 31 Speed. He knows Sunny Day, Morning Sun, Psychic, and Confusion. Sometimes we switch Confusion out for Signal Beam or Shadow Ball. According to Nurse Joy, in the past he knew Power Gem and could relearn it through effort. For battles, he has a Heat Rock that he wears as a cute little clasp for a scarf that I paid a specialist to infuse with Heat Rock and weather-resistant fibers. I rescued him from a pack of Purrloin, and he rescued me from a group of Sawk and Throh. He started following me around. Funny story, he stole a Pokeball from a Mart and shoved it in my hand. I had to pay the Mart three times the normal amount just to get them to not call the police on me.
Tumblr media
Figy the Flareon. She is very adamant and stubborn. She likes spicy food and hates dry food. She refuses to stay still for a photograph, so here she is in all her blurry glory. Her IVs are 29 HP, 28 Attack, 31 Defense, 27 Special Attack , 29 Special Defense, 29 Speed.  Her EVs are 252 Attack, 4 Special Defense, 252 Speed. She knows Fire Fang, Iron Tail, Double Edge, and Facade. She also likes Bite, Dig, and Headbutt. She refuses to battle unless I let her use the Toxic Orb or Choice Band she was rescued with. They’re both like safety blankets to her. Managed to make the toxic orb into a little bell thingy for a purple collar for her, the choice band just slips over the collar and when she battles she just gives me whichever one she doesn’t want to use at the moment. She loves battling and drags me to harass Cilan Chili and Cress every few days. She really wants to go on the League Challenge, but I’m not up for that. Edit: Feb 12 2023, She’s going to stay with my little sibling before and during their journey across Unova and for their League Challenge.
Edit: Feb 14, 2023 I’m adding Lum to this now.
Tumblr media
Lum the Leafeon I don’t know fully what he’s like yet. After some deep healing treatments, he doesn't have any more chemical burns! Yay! He tears up all my recovery and self-help books and pamphlets. He found an old Plasma shirt of mine and he's taken to sleeping with it. That's very worrying. I think he might have been Alum's before the lab accident. I tried catching him with a Pokeball and he broke it in half with a tail Leaf Blade. His ability is Leaf Guard. His IVs are 30 HP, 29 Attack, 29 Defense, 29 Special Attack, 29 Special Defense, 29 Speed. His EVs are 136 Hp, 120 Attack, 252 Speed. He knows Swords Dance, Giga Drain, Leaf Blade, and Yawn. He made me buy him a small satchel that goes around his neck, he keeps my dried berries in it. When I give him a plate of food, he also bags the leftovers. I think he might have had food insecurity in the past? Or he just really likes eating? He shows interest in cooking. Maybe I can use that to get him to open up.
Some things about me:
I had some bad experiences with trainers before. I used to think that people could only use Pokemon as tools and weapons. I treated my old Pokémon like how I thought I was supposed to treat Pokemon. I never hurt them physically, but I wasn't a friend to them as I grew older. I’m no longer in contact with the Pokémon from before, both from personal choice so they can heal and from legal obligation.
I never completed my League Challenge. Got past Gym Leader Elesa, so I had 4 badges. Had being a keyword, I forfeited them.
I used to be a member of Team Plasma. N had Ideals and Charisma, Ghetsis had Viciousness and Manipulation. I thought that Pokemon had to be separated from humans because we were horrible, because I thought I was horrible. Yes, I was punished for it. They were and are a cult.
You may hear me talk about Alum from time to time. He was a member of Team Plasma with me, we were partners and very close. He never used any Pokemon, at all, only his fists and the rest of him. He was a large tank of a man, built like an oak tree and as stubborn as one too. For 7 years, from 2010 to 2017, we were inseparable. I would have seriously hurt someone if Alum asked. He didn't make me though. Sure, I do know what it feels like to punch a backyard breeder in the jaw, and I do have a record of anger issues. But for the most part, I just patched up any injuries for our cell and any Pokemon that were hurt. I guess I was the team healer, in a way - but he was the heart and brains of our Cell, even if he weren't the official leader. When we were all arrested, I eventually went back to uh 'civilian' life but he - Alum got worse. A lot worse. His occasional punches thrown at horrible trainers became all out brawls and stealing Pokemon from trainers. He officially joined Team Neo Plasma around March 2018. AFTER the Big Freeze in 2012. He might have been allied with them a lot longer, our cell was officially not-Neo but sometimes we got close to it. I genuinely miss him. But I don't miss the sort of person I was starting to become with him, and I don't miss the person he became. If I mention Alum, usually I tag it with #keen alum so, feel free to block that tag. Sometimes I get... annoyingly sappy about him.
The psychic ladies and my stepmother who’ve all tested me with their methods of aura seeing (aura crystals, aura ribbons, one of them made me make something by heart and I made her soup and apparently that worked lol) and apparently my aura is a dark cyan.
Just so y'all can look up what potential crimes I've committed, here's my time line of when I did things. Exact dates are a bit fuzzy, but the dates are based on what I wrote in my personal journals.
I started my League Challenge in Unova in September 28th, 2008, I was 11 years old. I failed my League Challenge October 7th, 2010.
I joined Team Plasma October 7th, 2010, I was 13. I was arrested and basically forced to leave Team Plasma September 28th 2017, I was 20. I don't think I actually ideologically started to leave Plasma until Enigma made me catch him. Part of me might still be in line with them.
The Opelucid City freeze was Team Neo Plasma, I didn't have anything to do with it, but it was June 23rd, 2012.
I served my time in community service from from December 12th 2017 to June 22nd 2019, 2 years of it.
Enigma joined me December 26th, 2017.
Figy joined me July 18, 2021. Figy left my team February 12th, 2023.
Lum joined me February 14th, 2023.
(Rules Below, Keep Reading, OOC Below)
My Follow Blog: Keen-Kidus, KeenKidus
Hello. I am K*. I am shit at tagging. If you want to avoid the not-slice-of-life shit then block the #team phase tag.
K* is not Keen-Umbreon, Keen-Umbreon the character will occassionally say the weirdest shit ic and K* doesn't always agree with him. Keen-Umbreon is a character, not a real person. K* is 25+ years old, as of writing this I'm 25 and too lazy to go back and change this every year. I, me, myself, K*, I am a gay trans man.
Rules:
Blog is general, usually, but may get into PG-13 or higher, occasional alcohol or swearing or minor violence mentions. I will not interact with people who IRL are not adults.
Let me know if I end up rping Keen-Umbreon as too unhinged. Sometimes the muse grabs me by the hair and won't let go, but I can tone it down if asked.
Look in the tags for my OOC shit.
Non-Pokemon-universe OCs don't interact please.
Sentient Pokemon accepted, as long as they use some form of translator/assistance/training/etc. Blog canon is that Pokemon can communicate with Humans. Some of them are more animal like in intelligence but all of them think inherently different than Humans.
I don't triggertag except for food and meat. At least for now. Cuz I suck at remembering. And also because Keen-Umbreon would in-character triggertag meat.
At me in shit, babies. <3
Keen-Umbreon is an ex-member of Team Plasma. He occasionally goes on rants that will support Plasma or call all of his former co-members of Plasma idiots/fools/misguided/worse words. He occasionally mentions things that IRL PETA and the ALF have done, and he occasionally will drink the flavor-aid. Sometimes he is angsty. I promise you all that he will get better. But he's a victim of cult shit and has to deal with that himself. He's based on my own experiences with cult shit (he's like 8ish years behind my own progress) and also reality. I use a few IRL anti-cult resources and my own anti-cult recovery and therapy books as references and guides for writing him.
Due to Dr Hasan's idiotic ideas on trans people ("sissy hypno porn is proof trans people are a cult" to summarize) as well as it being repeatedly criticized by other more credible cult resewrchers, I will no longer be using the BITE method.

ZEN’IN NAOYA || husband’s duty
request: omg if it is okay can i ask for a part 2 of sweet little things 🥲
note: you definitely can, love! honestly this definitely cracked my head a little since we didn’t get to explore naoya too much as a character, underneath all that complexity that makes him up as the man we saw in the manga. But I am not gonna sit here and say I do not simp for him AHAHAHA - that would be a huge lie. But we shall see, no? I feel like I made him too soft though, but I live for soft!Naoya - so do not touch me T^T
part one
warning: suggestive scene throughout, but nothing happens really. just naoya being an ass lol
pronouns: she/her
Tumblr media
A content sigh left Naoya’s lips as he leans back into the warm water of the bath, his eyes slowly sliding shut at the warmth that surrounds him. Today has been a long day on the office - with back to back meetings and piles of paperwork on his desk, he was just ready to land into his bed face first and sleep the evening away.
“What do you want for your onigiri filling tomorrow? The farmers that produce that special rice you like sent a bag of rice to us earlier today.”
Your soft and sweet voice was what broke him out of his tranquil trance, yet he doesn’t find himself getting angry. Instead he hummed as he leans towards the direction of your voice, seeming to melt further in the steaming water when your soft hands immediately rest themselves against his broad shoulders. Fingers immediately getting to work on the knots that had started to build up since the afternoon. “Hmm...unagi filling sounds good.”
“I’ll make some for your bento tomorrow then,” You reassured him with a warm smile as you started to work through the knots on his shoulders, making sure to not accidentally dig your short but well kept nails into his skin. Whilst Naoya enjoys leaving marks of ownership all over your person, he does not appreciate having any scars left on his skin. And although he does not voice his disapproval, you know your husband well enough to know that unless he is in the mood, you should be careful about things like your nails scratching his skin.
The idea of you making one of his favourite dishes for him, knowing that he has to deal with more paperwork and calls tomorrow has him smiling softly in response. He would not voice out how your little actions causes his usually cold heart to skip a beat; instead he just leans back a little when he heard you collecting some water from the tub with the wooden shower pale. Relishing in the feeling of the water being poured over his two-toned hair, along with your soft fingers gently running through the strands.
Many people feel bad for you, since everyone knows what kind of man Naoya is. Everyone knows that he is nothing more but a skirt chaser, a man who views women as nothing an accessory to hang off his arm. Whose purpose is to provide strong heirs, and nothing more. You knew of the man even before you met him the first time on your family estate - listening to your older sister rant about how much of a myogenetic, rude, and disgusting excuse of a man Zen’In Naoya is. You’ve heard of the whispers from the other women whenever you would join a jujutsu event where the Zen’Ins would be in attendance. You knew that the moment both your fathers shook hands after Naoya shows great interest in you, your future was sealed to be with a man who seems to be every woman’s living nightmare.
And yet, for the last 4 months of marriage life, things have been...pleasant.
Naoya knew from the moment that he spoke to you that he needed to act ‘softer’ in order to gain your trust. That he cannot be his full self around you for at least the first month of your marriage in order to make him trust you; or until his patience runs thin from acting.
However, even though he has promised himself that he will drop the act after the first month; here he is, 4 months into your new marriage. Still finding it almost natural for him to act softer and more...kinder around you. Maybe it is because he finds your personality just so soft and welcoming that it just...felt right to treat you differently. Maybe he is just trying to reason to himself that as his wife, you should be treated differently from the common folk outside of your private home; after all, as long as he keeps you happy, he can get away with pretty much anything.
And yet...he has yet to find it in him to actually act like his usual self around you. Almost as if he was afraid of scaring you, or fearing that you’re scared of him. It’s laughable - how a man who was so self centered and only cared about himself and no one else, seemed to be so worried about what his wife thinks about him. He had reasoned to him that this is normal; that any husband would want their wife to fear them.
But just...it was odd to him. How he chooses to act differently around you, and not feel like he is forced in any way.
His opened his eyes to take a peak at you when his thoughts start to wonder, scanning over your concentrated features as you carefully worked the shampoo through his hair. Somehow just seeing you so focused on making sure that he was enjoying his bath had his heart skipping a beat; something that would have scared him if it were to happen with anyone else.
Yet, instead he found himself letting a small but genuine smile tug against the corners of his lips, one that immediately catches your attention as you carefully wash the studs from his hair. “What got you so happy, my love?,” You asked him curiously as you carefully ran your fingers through his hair, making sure that all the studs were gone. Instead of answering he just reached his hand up to grab your wrist in his gently, pressing a soft kiss against the inside of your wrist.
Naoya isn’t a man to convey his emotions often. He doesn’t necessarily view emotions as weak; he just sees no reason to show others around him how he feels unless it brings him some form of advantage. Other then that, he just puts up an arrogant and unbothered front for the most part. But with you...well, you were different. You are his wife, and in order to be a good husband, he needs to show you that he is willing to show you what is underneath his mask. Or so, he thinks that is what he needs to do.
The feeling of Naoya’s lips against your skin send a set of shivers down your spine, your eyes shyly glancing away from his handsome face as you felt the tips of your ears warm up. Just seeing how bashful you were about something as small as showing you emotion had him smirking against your wrist, immediately wanting to see just how far he can push his luck.
And he knows exactly what to do. “Get in the bath with me.”
You immediately snapped your shocked eyes back at your husband in shock, immediately feeling your cheeks warm at how he was staring at you expectantly. Although you’ve seen each other naked before, with him being so obsessed of having an heir of his own - it would be a surprise if you haven’t see him naked in all his glory. It wasn’t like he was bad to look at either - from all the training puts himself through to perfect his Technique, you would be lying to say that you’ve never stared at his strong back or broad shoulders whenever you two are alone.
It was just...so sudden. And you immediately knew what his intensions were, yet you just pouted softly as you quietly pulled yourself up from the steps you were seated on. Just seeing the soft pout tugging against the corner of your lips had Naoya biting back a smile as he watches you strip from your kimono, carefully folding the expensive fabrics to the side.
Soon you carefully made your way up the wooden steps of the traditional bathtub, thanking your husband quietly as he held a hand out to help you into the tub. You awkwardly knelt down between Naoya’s knees, still a little nervous to touch him even though he was the one who invited you into the bath with him. Naoya found your fear quite amusing, and without missing a beat he grabbed your hand in his before he pulls you close; chuckling at the squeak you let out when you landed against his bare chest.
“Don’t need to be so scared, my wife,” Naoya mumbles with a smirk, hands trailing down your soft back to relish the goosebumps that appear on your skin; his eyes glancing away from your shocked face to your fists resting against his chest.  “After all...if there is one person worthy enough to be by my side, it will be you,” He mumbles, hands that seem even warmer than the water surrounding you two resting on the small of your back.
A combination from his soft touches, to his overly sweet but frank words had your face burning up once more as you whine and bury your face into his neck, your actions causing Naoya to let out a soft but genuine peel of laughter come from his chest. “Did I startle you?,” Naoya asks in amusement, already knowing the answer to that question. Yet he wanted for you to answer the question yourself, since he lives for seeing you getting embarrassed over the smallest of interactions with him.
You fluttered your eyes close to try and calm you rapid heartbeat, yet you nodded your head gently to answer his question. “A-A little..,” You mumble back quietly against his skin, heart skipping a beat a little at Naoya’s soft chuckle that he breathed against the shell of your ear. Naoya did not want to admit it, but he finds this subconsciously clingy side of you quite endearing. Whilst he hates it when others touch him, even if they grazed him by accident; he does not mind it when it’s you.
Maybe he has gone a little insane after marriage.
After you’ve managed to gather your wits, you quietly pulled away from him before you reached back to grab the wash towel you had grabbed from earlier, Naoya curiously opened one of hi eyes when you shifted against his chest. Just having you pressed up against his chest, along with the warm water surrounding him had lulled him into a tranquil and sleepy state. But he didn’t stop you as you wet the wash towel before you carefully lathered his body wash into the fabric.
Quietly you started to wash his body like you would usually every night, yet this time it was a little different since now you were in the bath with him. Something that he has never really allowed before, since he views his bath time as his personal time. You would usually help him bathe before you leave the bathroom to prepare for bed and whatever wifely duties you need to fulfil for the night.
But if you were being honest, as you carefully washed your husband clean, you did not mind a change to your routine. Yet you did not voice your inner thoughts as you continue gliding your hands over Naoya’s arms, making sure to keep quiet to give him the silence he enjoys whenever he’s in the bath. However, Naoya was in the mood to talk today.
Whilst you were carefully washing his chest, Naoya’s hands started to wander along your body once more once more. “So, what did you get up today whilst your husband was out at work?”
You blinked up at your husband curiously, to which he just raised an eyebrow in response at the look you threw his way. “Can a husband not know what his wife gets up to when he slaves away at his desk?,” Naoya asks with a soft raise of his brow, his words causing you to widen your eyes as you shake your head immediately. Not wanting him to think that you’re questioning his authority. “O-Of course not! I-I just...thought...you’d like some quiet in your alone time..”
A soft sigh was your only response, to which you awkwardly looked away from your husband’s eyes to stare at his hard chest; worried that you’ve angered the man. “You know...I want to hear about your day too,” Naoya mumbles after a few tensed seconds of silence, a finger gently crocking under your chin to coax your eyes to look up at him. He did not have a smile on his serious face, yet there was a soft look shining in his usually hard eyes. “I get curious sometimes when I have time to breath...what does my beautiful wife do at home when I am away? Does she miss me? Does she take the free time she gets to pretend that she is not my wife? What could you be possibly be doing when I am away from home..?”
When you heard his words, you tilted your head softly as you scanned his face, trying to understand the meaning behind his message. He wasn’t dumb - he was more than aware of the whispers of the maids that thought he was not around, how people feel bad for you that you are married to a man like him. He honestly doesn’t care what others have to say about him - he never cared about what others have to say about him. Because he knows that when they need power or need something to get done, they will always turn to him with fake smiles and praise dripping from their tongues.
However, he was genuinely worried about you - he was worried that the whispers of his past will start to scare you away. Make you think that you are an idiot for marrying a man like him, and slowly but surely take you away from him. For once he was worried that you are going to leave him, because for once in his life, he finally understand what it truly means to be home. The very thought of you leaving him shakes him down to his very core, and he will do everything in his power to prevent that from becoming his reality.
“I don’t...think like that, you know.”
Your soft voice snapped his train of thought as he glances back into your eyes, blinking when your soft hands rest against his cheeks gently with a soft smile gracing your features. “I knew the type of man you were before you came to my family estate that day, and I have heard of all the rumours of your attitude even whilst you were courting me. But that didn’t change my decision because I genuinely enjoyed having you around.”
Your words had Naoya widening his eyes as his mind went blank at your confession. And seeing your usually stoic and arrogant husband looking stunned had you giggling as your thumbs started to stroke at his high cheekbones. “Yes, you may be a little colder and stricter then I am used to, but you are still a good man. You’ve been nothing but a good husband to me, and far from the rumours paint you to be. So don’t worry too much about my thoughts on our marriage, because I am nothing but happy to be your wife.”
Quietly you gently tugged his face close, resting his forehead against yours with a smile. “I know that you grew up in a different world from I did, and that you were brought up with different morals from mine. But I also know you’re trying for me, and that is more than enough for me at the end of the day.” You mumble softly, revealing to him that you were more observant than you let on. Yet you faked ignorance for his sake because you genuinely cared for him as a person. “Because at the end of the day, a wife is knows all of her husband’s sides the best.”
For once Naoya was completely stunned into silence, having never expected for you to be so candid about your feelings. Your response to his stunned silence was a quiet giggle as you lean forward to press a soft kiss against the tip of his nose. The feeling of your warm and soft lips snapped him back into reality, and upon realising how close you were, his pale cheeks flushed up from embarrassment. Immediately one of his hands pulled itself away from where they were resting against your bare hips to cover his cheeks with the back of his hand, eyes darting away as he leans away from you immediately.
“I-I want to get out of the bath now...”
You let out a giggle at the sight of your husband so out of character, yet you made no other comment as you nodded with a smile. “Lets get ready for bed then, my love,” You hummed out as you carefully got out to grab the towels for the both of you, biting back your smile at how cute you find him to be as you dried yourself before you did the same for him.
It was only later into the night, long after you’ve fallen asleep when Naoya really calmed down. You had long fallen asleep, face tucked away underneath his chin whilst your arms wrapped around him loosely. He knows he needed to sleep in order to function properly tomorrow, but his mind has been racing the moment you two got out of the bath to prepare for bed together.
He still cannot wrap his head around the idea that you willingly stay, even knowing that there is a chance you might see a less ideal version of himself. You choose to stay knowing all of the rumours about him and his, admittedly, horrendous behaviour and morals. And whilst he does not know what was it that he did that had you landing in his life, he is 100% sure he will never let you go.
Quietly he presses a soft kiss against the top of your head, a soft but content sigh leaving his lips as he closes his eyes to try and get some sleep before his alarm would go off later. Signaling to a start of another long and boring day away from you once more.
“You’re the best thing that has happened to me,” He mumbles softly into the quiet bedroom, a soft admission to you whilst you’re far away in dreamland, dreaming of things unknown to him. But the least he can pray for is that he wouldn’t become the enemy in your nightmares.
Because at the end of the day, it’s a husband’s duty to protect the happiness of their wife from the evils of the world. Even if the biggest evil in their lives is themselves. As long as he is your husband, you will have nothing to fear.
He will make sure of it.

analyzing every gojohime moment in the manga >:) pt. 3
more and more paragraphs ahead.  BE PREPARED!
i’m also writing this at 3 am so please bear with the horrendous grammar and punctuation.
Tumblr media
chapter 63
i know he’s probably like this with everyone but i love how excited he is bragging about his students to her.  he’s like a child telling his mother about an amazing adventure he had with his friends, making sure he mentions every detail.  in the anime, their conversation lasted for 3:41 :3 backwards 341 is 143 which means i love you.
1 letter = i
4 letters = love
3 letters = you
Tumblr media
chapter 63
i love her fit!  i also like how both of them like to wear baggy clothing that accentuates their collarbones `w` it’s like they’re matching in a way.  even if she did tell him to cut the crap, she still let him run his mouth to his content LOL i feel like if he didn’t compliment himself at the end, she would have said something different.  UGH HE LOOKS SO HAPPY CALLING HER
ah, let me translate the conversation just in case anyone needs it.
utahime: you wanted to talk about the investigation, right?
gojo: well, got any idea who?
utahime: i have no idea.  no one seems suspicious.  what do we do now?  should we ask the students for help?
gojo: yeah, that’s fine.  i’m busy so asking the kids would be okay.  keep looking.  i’m counting on you.
I THINK THAT’S WHAT THEY’RE TRYING TO SAY.
OR it could mean that she’s asking if they should start investigating the students.  it would make sense either way because gojo says in the next panel that he doesn’t want to assume that the mole is a student, and in chapter 79, gojo sends the trio to utahime to help her.
Tumblr media
chapter 63
these two love their students to death.  neither of them wanted to assume that the mole was a student.  in chapter 79, when utahime is talking to the trio about the mole, nobara points out to the group that the traitor must be from kyoto because utahime is the one who’s reaching out to the tokyo side.  utahime has a dismal look on her face, almost like she’s saying, “i didn’t want it to turn out this way -- for this to be true.”  after mechamaru says his farewells to miwa on the train, mai tries to talk about what he did to which utahime says, “it doesn’t matter, he’s dead, after all,” with a similar sunken expression.  i just love how her care for the students is one of the biggest aspects of her personality that’s been showcased so far.  it’s also cool how it ties together with gojo’s belief that no child’s youth should be taken away.  i truly think these two have the capacity to understand each other to a deep level, down to the core.  seeing as utahime is also a teacher, it’s safe to assume that she also wants to raise the next generation of sorcerers to be strong.  utahime and gojo’s similarities and contrasting elements are so interwined, i really wonder if it’s intentional.  like am i looking too much into this?  are utahime and gojo really meant to be this connected?  think about it.  similar motivations, care of the kids, contrasting palettes, the bickering, long history.  IT’S JUST TOO MUCH.
also can we mention how their phone calls and meetings must be heavily planned out?  this means they’ve talked and interacted with each other A LOT behind the scenes.  she doesn’t answer his call with “what do you want?  don’t bother me on my day off.”  she knows exactly why he’s calling her and they even speak in code.  she probably meets up with him and tells him to call her on a specific day and at a specific time.  they must know each other’s schedules very well in order to execute this investigation in complete secrecy.  when he says, “we can never be too sure who is listening in around utahime” it implies that they find calling a risk, so in order to guarantee that there is no one around, they have to meet up in person.  see where i’m getting at?  they talk A LOTTT and most likely are aware of each other’s daily lives.
the fact that gojo is her main source of stress when he’s literally a 3 hour train ride away from her is hilarious LMAOOOO.  you know what that means, right?  he must call and text her constantly about random things to annoy her.
Tumblr media
chapter 65
ah yes, my favorite moment by far.  look at that smile on his face.
Tumblr media
chapter 65
he loves saying her name.  he probably rushed over with the sole purpose of doing something like this to her LMAOOOO like i mean, mei was in there with her so technically they both needed to be helped but judging from his words and expression, he only wanted to help utahime.  notice how mei’s not there in the debris.  could she possibly have suspected gojo’s presence or an outside force?  or was she fast enough to avoid being in the debris?  either way, her lack of presence in this scene helps highlight the fact that this is a special interaction between utahime and gojo.  he refers to her in a very familiar sense.  the most formal way to address someone is by their last name followed by the honorific, -san.  in gojo’s case, he should be calling her iori-san if they weren’t acquainted.  he doesn’t even bother to call her utahime-senpai.  granted, gojo is not the most respectful and socially competent person out there because geto points this out to him.  he isn’t even aware that she finds him annoying because he views her bad attitude toward him as her just playing along with him.  he probably thinks she’s flirting back LOLOL
since he asks her “you cryin?” that definitely means that gojo witnessed her crying on one occasion or maybe multiple.  who knows, the old utahime could have been a very emotional person.  while this is happening, mei is close to gojo, she then asks him if he would console her if she were to cry in a flirtatious manner.  gojo dismisses her attempt at flirting with him and says she won’t cry because she’s strong.  now normally, you’re supposed to face the person you’re talking to, GOJO.  he KEEPS his eyes on her even when more people come to join the conversation.
now, we can all agree that geto, mei, and shoko are better at picking up social cues than gojo.  they probably knew the vibe of the conversation and decided to play along with gojo’s antics.
Tumblr media
chapter 65
WE were worried about you.
pay attention to the order of the characters that show up.  gojo makes his appearance first, then geto, followed by shoko.  based on utahime’s reaction to seeing shoko, it’s evident that these two share a close bond.  shouldn’t shoko be the one to arrive on the scene first?  she’s the closest to utahime and would therefore be more concerned about her condition, right?  i know shoko’s technique doesn’t really allow her to do anything other than treat the wounds of others, but if you heard your friend was missing, you would definitely rush to the scene.
look at geto’s reaction when mei says, “you’re the one who’s picking on her, geto.  you don’t even know it.”  i think it’s mei who’s saying this because gojo calls geto “suguru”.  but anyway, mei is aware that they’re picking on her.  i don’t think she’s the type to legitimately bully someone for their strength.  her reaction to all of this is very playful and her “heh heh heh” is proof of that.  when geto shows up and swallows the curse before it gets to utahime, he says, “satoru.  it’s not nice to pick on the weak.”  by saying this, he pisses utahime off because he too, is joining in on gojo’s joke.  i believe he’s unaware that he’s making fun of utahime because his reaction is “gah!” with a sweatdrop.  he probably thought gojo was making fun of weak people in general.
geto’s usually a gentleman seeing as it is canon that he is more popular with girls than gojo.  BUT WHO KNOWS...you gotta be a specific type of person to be best friends with gojo.  maybe he ain’t shit too...  okay, my point is that everyone is just playing along.  when shoko shows up, utahime is relieved to see her because shoko doesn’t tease her like this.  since utahime tells shoko to not become like those two, this implies that geto teases her as well (probably not as much as gojo).  we all know geto is really big on looking out for the weak so he probably wouldn’t have insulted her for real.
verdict: utahime being weak is just a joke.  i’ve mentioned this so many times, sorry if it’s getting annoying and repetitive hehehehehe...
Tumblr media
chapter 65
these three aren’t irresponsible.  geto and gojo are a troublesome duo for sure, but they’re dependable.  seems unlike them to forget something so simple and essential to pretty much every mission.
Tumblr media
chapter 65
here’s my headcanon.  they were hanging outside or in the car when their assistant manager got a call.  the assistant was informed that two days have elapsed since mei and utahime went on their mission (or last contacted someone).
gojo: that’s weird.  mei’s with her so they should have finished exorcising the spirit sooner.
geto: you think something happened to them?  maybe it’s a strong special grade.
gojo: utahime probably dragged mei down with her.  poor mei-san~
gojo gets up
geto: where are you going?
gojo: going to save utahime!  it’s fine i’ll put up a curtain!
manager: gojo wait!!!!!!!!!!!
geto sighs
shoko: that idiot’s always running off without us.
they pin the blame on gojo for saying that he’ll put up a curtain and leaving the assistant manager behind.  you know what this means?  he ran and the manager couldn’t catch up HEHE... why the rush, gojo?  were you actually concerned about her?
tbh i don’t see gojo ever running to something unless it’s urgent.  the fact that he ran to save her says a lot.
----
let me know if you have any thoughts or questions!  i forgot to add this but gojo had a more serious expression when he was explaining how they must’ve been trapped in a barrier that messes with time.  he then states, “we thought it was weird even though you’re here, mei.”  i know he was probably worried sick because if mei couldn’t be contacted then that means something must’ve happened to utahime too.  okay that’s it for now.  i’ll be bringing up this little detail i’ve noticed about utahime in the manga next :3

Horrible boss(AU! boss!salesman x Accountant! fem reader) part 1
Tumblr media
Summary : Oh Il-nam steps down from being the CEO, So his son takes his place.
Warning: none at this time, talks of hookups, and profanity. this fic is NSFW though, so beware of that.
A/N: I don't know how long this series will be yet,so enjoy :). I did name the salesman after the train to Busan character,so it's Oh Seok-Woo it's easier that way lol
It's 8 o clock in the morning, the weather seems promising today as the sunshine is casting down on Seoul. You have been living here for about a total of 4 years now, it seems like 20 Years with all the hardships you had to face while trying to fit in here but managed to figure it all out eventually. graduating from a great university, living in a decent apartment, and made good friends from the office you are currently at work. sure, there is some setback from time to time, yet everything seems to be falling in place for you now. Looking at yourself in the mirror to make sure everything is in order, just a plain grey blazer jacket and a pencil shirt with a white blouse which you kinda hate, so you would try to fancy it up with different accessories for the effort of standing out. After you were done checking out your ass in the skirt, you start to head out.
making your way to the train station, on the path there you couldn't help, but stop to purchase some Dalgona cookies from a local family business. They are so damn good, though definitely not great for your teeth. finishing off your snack on your walk, you see Gi Hun in his office attire with some mysterious guy near a convenience store up ahead. Gi-Hun spots you and waves for you to come over with a welcoming smile. " Hey, Gi Hun, how's it going, babes? " Smiling at him, near the mysterious man standing with a cigarette in his hand, his attention is now on you, he looks familiar. " Great, I'm just catching up with an old buddy I haven't seen in a while" putting his hand on his shoulder with excitement in his voice, he's such a cute bean you thought.
"oh, how rude of me, this is Cho Sangwoo. he graduated from SNU, he's practically a genius" he side-eyeing Gi-Hun as if this is what he tells everyone when first meeting, though you have definitely seen this man before. then it suddenly clicked, The two of you met each other a few weeks prior, just a hot drunk make-out session within 5 minutes of meeting each other in the back of the bar, no biggie. You still get nervous as if he was reading your slutty thoughts then swallow the reminder of spit in your mouth, feeling his intense stare. he definitely remembers you, maybe? "Oh? I heard a lot about you, don't worry all good things of course" Sangwoo flash a friendly smile at you" I would only hope so" he simply put, the three of you laughed, this shit is so awkward "we don't want to be late, let's get going." Gi hun agrees. " it was nice meeting you though" you said in unintentional flirty tone, or hell maybe it was intentional. "Well, The feeling is mutual". a slight nod from him while putting his cigarette between his lips. You two departed from him finally. "Isn't he great?" Gi-Hun said cheerfully, nodding in agreement. he's definitely great alright.
You both made it to the train station just in time. It's pretty packed at this hour which is normal here. You stand with Gi hun on your left side, talking it up quietly as time goes by. asking about his mom who is in and out of the hospital. it saddened your heart, only hoping she gets better. You see him and his mother as family. "Yeah, I hope she'll be ok as well " with sadness in his voice, you comfort him" it will be trust me" giving him a reassuring smile. All of sudden you feel a hand on your backside, you look back to see who did that. "Hey, fucking watch what you are doing, asshole? " Getting angry, Gi hun looks up from the ground. " Oh sorry ma'am, I didn't mean to do that, my apologies," the man said politely. He didn't look like your average salesman, short clean-cut hair with an expensive suit on, the scent of the expensive cologne smells amazing on him,and dare you say he's a handsome man as well. You felt intimidated by him "Hey, what do you think you're doing? Trying to cop a feel, you fucking pervert" Gi Hun jumps to your defense.
" he said it was an accident, babes" trying to calm him down, He's not buying it at all " you heard the young lady," the man said with a smile that just seem a bit off. " Sir, we don't want any problems, ok " looking up at the tall man, he looks back at you in a calm state. "Better not do that shit again" Gi Hun was pissed off as he glares at him. The train ride went awkward and silent for a while. It's your stop, this morning was too eventful for your liking" where is he, huh?" he's getting riled up once again. the man is nowhere to be found, you could have sworn you saw him get off here. " Let's not worry about him, we need to get going " both of you exit the station.
Now in the office, you say your hellos to the other workers. made it to the break room, Put your lunch away in the refrigerator then start to prepare some coffee. " Hello " you hear from behind " oh hello, Eun-Yi !" You give each other a quick hug. "How are you, girl ? " you asked, leaning your back on the counter. " I'm great, I finally got some good rest for once last night " she laughs, grabbing a granola bar. " how about you?" You look around the room" I can't say the same, unfortunately...though I did stay up to watch a movie that was pretty good". As you grab a cup from the cabinet. " what's so good about this movie that you had to stay up for it" She asked playfully rolling eyes, taking a bite of her granola bar. " Well, since you asked "you chuckle " it's about a maid who moves in with a rich family, and the handsome husband has an affair with her" explaining it with your hands "then he gets her pregnant, but the thing is his wife is pregnant as well, it's a whole ass mess...men sometimes" and she laughs an agreement" anyways you should check out though, the ending is so.. interesting" you sip on your coffee. " You always watch good movies without me, you know" Yi poked you with her elbow "I'm pretty sure you can relate to the maid though" she jokes with a smirk. You definitely caught that shade "not you calling me a hoe, gurl it's too early for that" sharing a laugh with each other.
Gi-Hun enters the room. " Hello," he said awkwardly to Eun-Yi, "hello, Gi-hun" you sip your coffee watching. this interaction between them is cute. " Is Il-Nam here?" You breaking the tense. "Oh, no I didn't see him," he said scratching the back of his head "running late? That's not like him" giving Gi-Hun a worried stare." I'm sure he's ok" reassuring you" we all know he's retiring right? his son is supposed to take over". He says looking at Yi. "Oh yeah and aren't we supposed to have a retirement party for him tonight?". Il-Nam has been so caring to you, he's like a grandpa figure when your own grandpa is not with you. He helped you though some of the low point at the time, his heart is always so big for the workers in the office, he is loved here, so it's sad to see him go. "I'll go see if he's here, I'll let you guys know" Yi looking between you two, and both nods in response, making her exit.
"why don't you just ask her out already?" You giggle. "Ah...I don't know about that" he nervously laughs, standing next to you now "why not? you clearly like her and she seems to like you too. I say go for it" he raises his eyebrows with innocent eyes " you think she likes me? " Nodding as someone is now entering the room " hey, Jun-ho " giving him a flirtatious tone, then proceeds to check him out. He flashes his boyish smile at you "hello, you two" standing on the other side of you. " Where have you been, love? I missed you." the two of you are best friends with benefits for a while now. let's just say, you are living your best life, being a hoe " I just got back from a trip with my brother" smiling at you still" you want to come over tonight and make up for lost times? " Putting his charms on you, it's definitely working. "Mhmm" sipping on your coffee. "Hey, guys I'm still right here" Gi-Hun reminds the two of you with discomfort. "Aren't guys curious about his son?" Trying to change the subject. "What's there to be curious about? Maybe he's a good man like his father" you said confidently.
Yi opens the door "Il-Nam is here" you put your cup down the cup so fast. "We should go see for ourselves" exiting the break room, everyone is gathering in the main room. You see Il-Nam and a man who is supposed to be his son you assume." wait a minute, isn't that the guy we met on the train?" you whisper to Gi-Hun. "I'd like to introduce you all to my son, Oh Seok-Woo he will be your new boss." He said happily. Well, this is off to a great start.

Part 2
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
"Who's that?" Rosé asks, leaning in closer to the maknae as she points to a slightly recognizable face in the crowd.
"I dunno," Lisa shrugs, throwing a thumb over her shoulder, "ask Jisoo." The Australian does as she says, padding over to seek out an answer from their unnie.
"Y/N L/N, I believe. Her company is supposed to make a big announcement later." Jisoo informs, adding a nod to the end of her statement for certainty. Jennie stands beside them all, taking in the crowd of staff and business people hailing from all of the most powerful entertainment companies in Korea. The big dogs have all gathered here tonight to drop some major announcements for their upcoming projects and set up arrangements for future endeavors.
"What do you think it'll be?" Jennie asks, eyes still trained on you as you converse with a famous actress. Her breath catches in her throat when you throw your head back, eyes filling with tears of laughter at something the high class woman said. You're absolutely stunning.
"It could be anything, honestly. Her company's full of talent in every category."
"Yeah, their newest girl group broke a record for Youtube streams in the first hour after release. Still didn't beat ours, though," Lisa adds with a smug look, holding her head a little higher. She's only playing, of course -- she's one of the most humble people Jennie knows.
"She's really pretty," Jennie breathes out, speaking the words that have been rolling around in her mind since she laid eyes on you. The other girls adamantly agree, nodding their heads with purpose.
"Do you wanna go talk to her? YG would probably like that; maybe we can let Jisoo do a little schmoozing." Rosé smirks, playfully nudging the unnie. Jisoo rolls her eyes with an amused scoff, quickly swatting the blonde's hand away.
"I don't know, she seems pretty busy." Her words are unsure, weary -- her normal confidence is wavering a bit, now replaced with some type of nervousness that she can't quite explain. This isn't like her; why is she so anxious?
"Come on, it'll be fun." Lisa decides for them, leading the way with Jennie's hand clutched in her own; the brunette would surely slip away otherwise.
They approach you from an angle, caught right in your blind spot as you continue your small talk with a new business exec. The man sees the girls behind you, waiting for their turn, and after a few more moments he leaves you with an office number to reach him by.
"Good evening… Y/N, right?" Jisoo leads politely, smiling as you turn to face them. You look even more dazzling up close, and Jennie's posture stiffens. She's definitely seen you somewhere before.
"That's me," you say sweetly, greeting all of them and committing their names to memory.
"Jennie," she introduces, stretching a hand out to you. Your eyes flutter down to it before you grasp it within your own, the simple action appearing unbelievably cute to her.
"How're you doing tonight? I hear you've got some big news for us." Lisa wiggles her eyebrows, voice bouncy with anticipation.
You giggle, and Jennie thinks it may just be the sweetest thing she's ever heard. "It's a little hectic, if I'm honest, but I'm enjoying myself. What about you guys? And you'll just have to wait and see what we have in store for you." You end the sentence with a wink that just happened to be directed at Jennie, despite Lisa being the one to ask the question. She tries to fight the blush that soon rises to her cheeks.
"We're doing well, I'd say. It's actually kind of nice to get out of the dorm and meet some new people." Rosé says almost wistfully, her eyes sending a fleeting glance around the room at her statement.
"I know how that can feel. When I was first starting out I didn't get many opportunities for roles. But then I met my manager at the café I picked up a second job at, and the rest is history." You smile softly at the memory, recalling the events of that fateful day. You can't imagine where you'd be right now if things had played out differently.
"You're an actress?" Jisoo asks, sounding like she just put two-and-two together. You nod at her, noticing the way that Jennie looks at you in deep thought. You can practically see the wheels turning.
"So that's where I recognize you from. You guest starred in that JTBC miniseries earlier this year, didn't you?"
"Ding ding ding, we have a winner." You smile, bowing your head in praise. It warms your heart to see her face light up, knowing that she finally felt that rush of putting her finger on the elusive thoughts in her head. Pulling knowledge you previously believed forgotten from the foggy depths of your brain is a rewarding experience in itself, and you're pleased that she remembered you.
"I'm glad I made an impression during my short time on screen," you quirk, leaning in closer to her.
"With skills like yours? You're unmatched, Y/N." She flirts, finally finding her bearings again. Her confidence is returning now, slowly but surely, and she pats herself on the back for not hiding behind her hands when you send her a tempting smile.
"Ah, you're too kind--" you begin, only to be cut off by a tap on your shoulder. It's one of your co-stars.
"Good evening, ladies," he bows, "I'm sorry to break this up, but Y/N is needed by management."
Your shoulders sag at this, his words sinking in. You'd much rather spend the night tucked away with the girls, getting to know them better -- especially Jennie, who makes your heart speed up anytime she looks at you.
"I hate to go," they nod in agreement, sad to have to part ways. They really enjoyed speaking with you, and they'd be lying if they said they wanted to stop anytime soon.
"But maybe I'll catch you later?" The question sounds hopeful, albeit a bit unsure as you scrunch your face up. They affirm that they'd "like that very much," and your shoulders relax a bit. Maybe there's still some hope for you all.
◇◇◇◇◇  2 Hours Later  ◇◇◇◇◇
"Exactly! She shouldn't have forgiven him after that," you rant to Jisoo, talking about some characters from your favorite kdrama.
"Babo, I tell you." She says dramatically, rolling her eyes. The action garners a chuckle from you, and Jennie finds herself smiling as she follows along with the conversation. She must've made her staring too obvious, because a minute later your eyes meet hers from across the table. She blinks, surprise etched gracefully into her features, and she clears her throat. Both of you have been stealing glances at one another all night, and things have only ramped up since you snuck away from management to see them again. You assured them you wouldn't get in trouble, but that was honestly the last thing on your mind.
From her seat across from you, Jennie can see the curve of your body, your silhouette highlighted by the lights that shine on the wall behind you. They're dimmed somewhat to give a comfortable, soft glow to the room, and they contrast with the perfect curve of your face. She lets her eyes trail lower, admiring the expanse of your chest and how your fingers rest against the table, mindlessly playing with the expensive tablecloth.
What you do next makes her choke on the water she had so bravely dared to take a drink of.
You lean forward slightly, just enough for her to see your cleavage, while still appearing inconspicuous and innocent. The smirk you try to suppress tells her you know exactly what you're doing, and her cheeks grow hot.
"Excuse me," she mutters to the table, quickly standing and all but running outside for some fresh air. She wants -- needs -- to put some distance between the two of you if she plans to have any self control.
Cool air immediately greets her as she steps outside, hearing the sleek automatic door slide shut behind her. She can breathe now, and begin to soothe her racing mind. Despite only knowing you for the better part of 4 hours, she's already attracted to you. Way more than she cares to admit, as she presses her thighs together to put out the fire you started within her.
No more than 5 minutes later, the doors slide open once more.
"Everything alright?" You ask, tone dripping with amusement as you take in her flustered state. It's obvious that she's okay, just simply turned on.
"Never better," she mumbles, glancing up at you with a lopsided smile.
"You know, you ran out pretty fast back there. You sure know how to worry a girl." You fake a pout at her.
"Oh, you don't say?" She plays along, approaching you with what few shreds of confidence she has left. She tucks a strand of hair behind your ear, whispering into it, "Well, I'm all good."
"Wanna see for yourself?" She continues, drawing back slightly to take your hands within her own and wrap them around her waist. She smiles as they roam over her body, making sure to be thorough as you "check her out."
She groans when your hand grazes over a sweet spot on her thigh, causing you to pause and tut at her, "Tsk tsk, Jennie. It looks like I'll have to inspect this a little further." She gulps at your words, mind clouded once again by filthy thoughts of you.
"Let's get out of here," she suggests, taking your hand to lead you away. You chuckle at her eagerness, only capable of nodding as she basically drags you to her car.
◇◇◇◇◇
Despite feeling like two horny teenagers, you and Jennie actually opted to slow things down and get to know each other more. She's one of the most interesting people you've ever met, and you could listen to her talk for hours on end. The feeling is beyond mutual, and she doesn't mind that she has to wait a little longer to have you. The promise of what the night will hold for the two of you thrills her, and the anticipation only heightens her feelings.
Takeout containers lay abandoned in her car, long forgotten about as you sit next to each other on the hood. The chilly surface of the windshield presses against your back, making you all the more thankful for having had the foresight to wear a coat tonight. You make a mental note to thank your stylist for the suggestion.
Stars are beginning to twinkle in the distance, slowly coming out of their peaceful slumber to greet the evening sky. They bring to mind all the nights you spent in your backyard as a child, laid out on a warm blanket as you gazed up into space. Back when only trivial issues existed in your world, leaving you with an unscarred heart and unadulterated outlook on life. Those times were simple, only complicated by whatever drama was going on at school or what new person your friends liked. Back then you had no idea of what the future held for you -- what you'd end up doing with your life. If you had a chance to talk to your younger self, you'd tell her to enjoy those days as much as possible; to not take them for granted for even a second.
Everyday you're reminded that fame is truly a blessing and a curse -- you miss the days that you could roam the streets freely with whomever you wanted to, not having to worry about paparazzi or the media, but you're thankful for where you are now. You get to do what you love, everyday, and make money from it -- it's what everyone wishes for in life; and although you've worked your ass off to get here, you owe a lot of credit to the fans.
"It's so beautiful up here," Jennie says, voice stuck between a whisper and sigh as she lays her head on your shoulder.
"You see that building over there, with the orange lights and trees around it?" You ask, pointing in the direction of the building. Her eyes follow the invisible path your finger makes, and she spots it, nodding for you to continue.
"My mom used to work there; it's a daycare. I always loved helping out. The kids were so adorable." A bittersweet smile plays on your lips as you look down at your lap, clearly reminiscing. Jennie notices, brushing a strand of hair out of your face as she says, "I bet you miss it."
"I do," you sigh, clenching your jaw briefly, "those were the days. Seoul's home, but sometimes it feels so distant."
"I know how that feels." You don't miss the way her eyes cast down, a hint of sadness behind them, her fingers toying with yours on her thigh. Life in the spotlight isn't all it's cracked up to be, and neither of you are strangers to that all too familiar pang of longing.
"I'm happy to be here with you tonight, though," you try to turn the conversation cheery again, and Jennie's thankful for that. "I haven't had this much fun in a long time."
Your plan works, and soon she's pepping up. "Me neither. Being with you feels...different. In a good way." Your smile widens exponentially when she adds, "A very good way."
"Don't get too cheesy on me, now," you roll your eyes teasingly, wrapping both of your arms around her and pulling her flush up against your body. She lays her head on your chest, reveling in the scent of your perfume and the warmth radiating from you. Her hand comes to rest against your ribs, lightly rubbing patterns against them as the two of you continue star gazing. She can feel your heartbeat pick up when she slides her hand downwards, playing with the hem of your shirt innocently.
Does she have any idea what she's doing to you?
Yes, yes she does. After all, your body is basically selling you out at this point.
"Y/N?"
"Mmm?" You hum, eyes closed and head leaned back against the windshield. Her skin is soft against yours, and your shared warmth has put you at ease.
"Do you wanna go somewhere? I really don't want the night to be over yet." Your heart flutters at her words; the fact that a woman such as Jennie is so reluctant to leave you is baffling in itself.
"I'd love that, Jennie. What did you have in mind?"
For a moment, Jennie's mind takes it there. She allows herself to imagine what it would be like to feel your skin against hers, connection unrestricted by clothing; how your kisses would feel against her lips, her body; what beautiful sounds you would make as she pushed you closer and closer to the edge. She can't deny how attracted she is to you, nor does she want to; but she also doesn't want to ruin the innocent moments you're sharing. She doesn't want to taint them with the lustful ideas that flood her mind anytime you give her that look, or caress her thigh absentmindedly.
"How does the park sound?"
"With you? There's nowhere I'd rather be."
Despite her efforts, Jennie blushes at your statement, feeling that embarrassing warmth creep up the back of her neck. You've made her blush more in the span of one night than she previously had in her entire life, and that boosts your confidence tenfold.
"Who's being cheesy now, huh?" She asks, pinching your side playfully as she sits up. Her legs swing around until she's fully facing you, sitting criss-cross as the two of you smile at one another.
Neither of you move for a while, both content with just admiring each other's beauty. Her fingers lace with yours, and after a moment she brings your hand up to her lips to lay a kiss to it. The action -- more so, how soft her lips are against your skin -- catches you off guard, and your breathing hitches. All at once, you're acutely aware of how badly you want to kiss her.
As if things couldn't get anymore tempting, her tongue darts out of her mouth to soothe her lips, making them glisten in the dying light of the evening.
She sees your eyes dart down to them, and her body leans closer to you ever so slightly, seemingly having a mind of its own. You meet her gaze again, silently asking for permission as you glance back down at her lips. She responds by giving one single nod before leaning in close enough that your noses almost brush against each other.
"You're stunning." The compliment sounds breathy as it slips out of your mouth, but you're beyond caring at this point. Your pride was thrown out the window the second Jennie showed interest in you.
"Don't look at me like that," she says, gently biting the inside of her cheek to keep herself from closing the distance. She wants you to be the one to do it.
"Like what?"
"Like you're undressing me with your eyes." Her gaze casts down to your lips again, seemingly glued there as she watches them move when you speak your reply.
"You act like you weren't doing the same thing at the event." Her confidence falters momentarily, but she fights to hold her ground. "My colleagues even noticed it, babe -- you've gotta get better at hiding your attraction." You say with a chuckle, watching as Jennie's eyes grow wider. Had she really made it so obvious?
"We wouldn't be here right now if I was good at hiding it, so I think you owe me one."
"Touché," you say, quirking an eyebrow in thought. She's right, as usual. "How can I ever make it up to you?" Your voice wiggles dramatically, face contorting in a mock apology.
"I know a way," she says lowly, smiling as your hand finds its way to her knee a moment later. You hook your fingers in the crook of it, drawing a surprised gasp from her as she falls forward and into your arms.
Here goes nothing.
You raise your left hand to her cheek, brushing the back of your fingers against it gently as you build up the nerve to kiss her. Your other arm is wrapped securely around her waist in order to hold her steady above you.
Her palms are pressed to the glass behind you, and her hair falls gracefully around you, creating a little curtain to shield you from the outside world. Finally gaining enough courage, you press your lips to hers in a soft kiss. It's slow and mild as you set a sensual rhythm, growing accustomed to the taste of each other. She sighs into your mouth as you reposition her so that she's straddling your lap.
"Y/N, we're never gonna make it to the park if you keep kissing me like that." She warns, though her words hold no real threat at all. She wants this just as much as you do.
You lay a trail of light kisses up her neck, all of them far too gentle for her liking right now. "Is this better, your highness?" You ask smugly, smiling against her throat as a frustrated sigh leaves her lips.
She places a hand on your chest to push you up against the glass, letting her fingers skim over your collarbone. Just as she's about to pounce, the sound of your phone ringing interrupts the moment. It vibrates in your pocket, right between Jennie's thighs, and you stifle a giggle at the reaction it would've drawn from her had you not quickly retrieved it.
"Hello?" You ask, realizing you hadn't even bothered to check the caller ID. Jennie sits back on your legs, allowing her hands to rest on your hips and draw soothing circles.
"Y/N, I hate to tell you this on such short notice, but you have a new interview scheduled for tomorrow morning at 10AM. I'll send you all the details later."
You sigh at your manager's words, running a hand over your face to relax yourself. The announcement party was supposed to signal the end of your busy week, but of course life just couldn't work in your favor for once. Now you'd be stuck in some random line of questioning, unable to give them any real answers for the sake of keeping spoilers from getting out. You can think of about a million things you'd rather be doing tomorrow morning, and one of them is sitting on your lap right now.
"Yeah, okay. I'll talk to you later." You wait for him to say his goodbye before ending the call and turning back to Jennie with an apologetic look.
"Sorry for ruining the moment."
"You didn't ruin anything. But luckily for you…" she leans forward again, pressing a kiss to your lips that makes your heart stop for a second, "I can be very merciful." You nearly melt at her words, paired with how she whispers them in your ear. Her warm breath fans over your neck, rendering you speechless as you pull her back to your lips.
This kiss is different -- full of passion and desire as you grow more used to each other. She raises up on her knees, towering over you as she stares down at you. You look so beautiful right now, your eyes appearing big as you look up into hers, waiting for her next move. She runs her hands through your hair before settling them on your cheeks, cupping the smooth skin and rubbing the pad of her thumb across it. You drag your nails up and down her exposed thighs, and you pat yourself on the back when you notice the trail of goosebumps they leave behind.
"I actually do wanna go to the park with you, if that's alright. There's something I want to show you. I definitely want to continue this later, though." You say.
She nods at that, a smile making its way to her face that can't possibly be wiped away. As much as she wants to have you writhing underneath her, screaming her name, she can wait. She's content with making as many memories as possible with you tonight, and she's intrigued by the surprise you're hinting at.
A few gentle kisses later, you slide off the hood and help her down before going to open her car door for her.
"Such a gentlewoman," she praises, pursing her lips at you.
"Only for you," you wink, making her giggle.
You quickly make your way to the driver's seat, set on getting to the park ASAP in order to spend as much time as you can with Jennie. After all, you can only stay up so late tonight if you want to be functioning for that interview tomorrow… and let's just say that you plan on being busy later.
---------
"Voila!" You declare, motioning to some playground equipment in the kid's section of the sizable park. Of all the things she was guessing at, Jennie did not see this coming.
"What, you came to show me monkey bars, Y/N? I've seen plenty of them--" She asks incredulously, looking around the area filled with miniature tables and chairs to go along with the equipment.
"What? No, no. I used to play here when I was growing up, and my friend's and I had a secret hiding spot. We always stashed our favorite little knick knacks in it, and we promised we'd only show it to people we deemed worthy."
Jennie watches as your eyes light up at the recounting of such a dear memory, and she grins widely. You truly are a five year old at heart.
"This is the first time I've been back here, since…" you trail off, realizing just how many years it's been. Being at such a different point in your life while standing in a place you frequented as a child is a weird juxtaposition that you weren't prepared for, but you push it from your mind.
"Anyway, I think you're pretty worthy." You joke, sizing her up. She laughs at that, and you revel in the pleasant sound. You know you probably won't see her again after tonight, so you're determined to ingrain the little things -- like her smile, her laugh -- into your brain.
"Now, let's see… where did Ashley put it?" You whisper to yourself, scanning the length of the playground. Your eyes travel across the slides, over the swings, and around the monkey bars before you spot that little dip in the siding that you'd recognize anywhere. Jennie soon finds her hand slipping into yours as you lead her over to it, a childlike sense of giddiness on your face. She likes seeing you like this.
"I hope it's still here," you say to no one, bending down to press your fingers against the old wood. It's far more worn down now, and you're worried that someone has already come by and cleaned out the hiding spot. Putting your doubts aside, you continue.
"Okay, so don't laugh, but there's a special way you have to open it. Ashley showed it to me one day and it's the only way we could get it to budge after that."
She smiles her gummy smile at you, and you can't help but return the gesture and even steal a quick kiss. She's a bit taken aback when you ball your hand up, using the side of it to deliver a couple blows to the wood in two different spots. Next, you stand and line up your foot, remember exactly how your friend taught you, before executing a calculated kick to the other side.
At first, Jennie wants to laugh at you; but upon closer inspection, she sees that in fact, a small opening is visible in the wood now. You smirk cockily, knowing full well that she hadn't expected that to work.
"Told you so," you tease, now bending down again to work the panel free. You wiggle it back and forth repeatedly, being careful not to go too quickly and damage anything else, and eventually it pops out. She watches as you reach in and pull out a mini jewelry box -- the kind that can fit in your hand, mainly meant for rings or other small items.
"We stole the box from our other friend, Janelle. Had to pay her our allowances for 2 months afterward. Can you believe that?" You ask, shaking your head with another smirk on your lips. Jennie laughs at you in full, loving how carefree you are right now. In a way, she's happy that your manager called earlier; otherwise the two of you most surely would be locked away in your bedroom right now. This experience is definitely one she'll cherish.
"Unbelievable," she sighs, shaking her head and going along with it.
You click the latch on the small box, it's material now weathered and rusty as it creaks when you open it. Jennie steps closer to you to examine its contents, and you fight to contain how hard your heart starts beating at the feeling of her hand on your lower back.
"No way…" you utter, voice full of disbelief as your eyes land on one of your most prized possessions from childhood.
"What?" Jennie asks, genuinely on the edge of her metaphorical seat.
"This butterfly hair clip," you inform, slipping the small contraption between your fingers as you hold it up for her to see, "I won it at a fair with my mom and I always wondered where it went…"
"It's beautiful, Y/N," she says, ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the details etched into it. For something so small and seemingly unassuming, it's actually very unique.
"I want you to have it." You say, taking a step away so you can look at her. She instantly goes to refuse, saying, "I can't! You just found it after all this time--"
"And I went all that time without it. If you take it, I'll know it's safe with you. And you can use it to remember me by." You say, your gaze softening as you watch her debate with herself.
"Okay. But if you ever want it back, call me."
"Roger that." You say dorkily, earning yourself a roll of those dark eyes you find yourself getting lost in.
"And for the record, Y/N, I could never forget you. Pretty hair clip or not." Her confession makes you feel happy on a whole new level; knowing that you've left an impact on her is truly a wonderful thing.
"So, what now?" She asks, breaking the happy lull your conversation found itself in.
"We can walk around the park for a little while, or…" you start, waiting for Jennie to prod you further. Both of you know exactly what game you're playing, but it's still fun nonetheless.
"Or?" She inquires, stepping closer as she wraps her arms around your shoulders. She nonchalantly gives you a once over, knowing what power her darkening gaze holds over you.
"We can go back to my place. Maybe play a little footsie, who knows?" You say, shrugging your shoulders with a stupid grin. Even while seducing someone, you can't resist being a geek.
"Footsie?" Jennie gasps, raising her eyebrows, "What kind of girl do you take me for? That only happens after at least 2 dates in."
"Such a prude, Ms. Kim. How can I change your mind?"
She presses a finger to her cheek, pretending to think, before getting an idea. Her lips flirt with the shell of your ear as she whispers obscenities into it, turning you to mush with every new scenario she puts in your head.
You stiffen as she kisses your jaw, the action catching you off guard as you continue reeling from her words.
"I can do that, I think," you cough out, stumbling over the words a little bit. She laughs at the effect she has on you; seeing your confidence waver is a nice role reversal, and it's something she could definitely get used to.
"Let's go." She commands, now taking your hand to pull you after her, just like you had done before.
◇◇◇◇◇
It's painful, how hard Jennie has to restrain herself from touching you as you fumble with your keys. She told herself she'd keep her hands to herself until you got inside, just in case any stray paparazzi managed to catch you two together. The last thing either of you need is some new scandal, especially with your careers in a vulnerable spot as they're really beginning to take off.
"If you don't get that door open within the next 10 seconds, then I'll just take you out here in the hallway."
You audibly gulp at the image she just conjured up in your mind, and you speed up your movements. The prompting worked, evidently, because soon she's practically shoving you through the doorway.
"Finally," she breathes against your lips, pressing you up against the door once you've locked it back.
"I've been waiting to do this since we met earlier." She indulges you in that little secret, smiling at the way you whimper when she pulls your leg up to wrap around her hips.
"I'm all yours," you say, making Jennie's heart flutter at the sentiment. For the night, you're hers and she's yours. "...now kiss me," you command, growing more impatient with each feather-light kiss she presses to your jaw.
"So bossy," she toys, making you roll your eyes.
"You have no idea, babe."
She bites her lip as your husky voice makes its way to her ears, thick with the desire she's been steadily building within you all night. You tug her forward, your fingers bunching up the material of her shirt with little care as her lips meet yours.
Her tongue swipes across your bottom lip, asking for a permission that you granted the second she touched you. You pull her chin down slightly, allowing the kiss to deepen as you tangle your other hand in her hair.
After an especially bruising bite to her lip -- one that thrills her to her core -- she pulls away, breathlessly asking, "How're you so good at this?"
You cackle against her, taken aback by how genuine the question sounded. "Practice for the kdramas, of course."
"I haven't had to do this," you slide a hand between your bodies, smirking at the gasp that sounds off deep in her throat as you make contact with her, "yet though. That might be a little extreme for the screen."
"You think?" She scoffs softly, bringing her hands up to gather your hair to one side. She presses gentle kisses to your neck, prepping the surface for the dark marks she'll most certainly be leaving there later.
"Ready?" You ask, making sure she wants to go through with this.
"You have no idea, babe." She copies your statement from earlier, garnering another smile from you. She swears she can never get enough of that sweet look on your face.
"Follow me," you say, giving her another peck to last until you reach the bedroom.
◇◇◇◇◇  The Morning After ◇◇◇◇◇
Warm, glittering rays of sunlight sneak past the curtains of your apartment window, shining gently through the light material. A dream-like haze befalls the room, serving as a wonderful greeting once you peek your eyes open. The only thing capable of rivaling such a wonderful sight is the woman beside you, her soft breaths keeping your shoulder warm.
As you turn your head to look at her, careful not to wake her, your heart flips. Having her here next to you is the only reason you even believe last night happened; it was magical -- the stuff of fantasy. The two of you did everything: acted on every desire, every impulse -- you truly made the most of the night, determined to make it unforgettable.
A few blissful minutes later, she stirs beside you. "Good morning, Y/N." Her eyes remain closed, still safe from the bright light of the morning as she smirks at the memories replaying in her mind.
You lay a small kiss to her lips, simply missing how they feel against your own. "Morning, beautiful."
A content sigh slips past her lips as she presses them against your neck, cuddling further into you. "Last night was fun."
You decide to tease her. "Eh, I've had better."
If there's one thing that Jennie knows, it's that she's good in bed -- great, even -- and you definitely seemed to be enjoying yourself last night, just as much as she was. Still though, a bit of insecurity runs through her as she raises up on her elbow to look at you through her lashes.
"Really?" She stills her fingers on your arm, stopping them from continuing the trail that they had been blazing just seconds ago. Her eyebrows furrow subtly, the action almost unnoticed by you.
Deciding the joke isn't worth it, you cup her cheek and raise her head so she can meet your eyes.
"No, I'm kidding. Last night was… something else." You chuckle, smiling as your eyes move around the room in an attempt to find the right word for it. When none come to mind -- no words capable of conveying how great it was -- you look back to her.
She has a knowing grin on her face, "I couldn't agree more."
Sneaking a glance at the clock propped up on your bedside table, you get an idea. "You know, Jennie…" you start, purring her name out as you had last night, garnering that achingly familiar groan from her, "...we still have a few hours before either of our schedules start." Your suggestion hangs in the air as you roll her over onto her back, hovering over her and brushing your noses together.
"Hmm, you don't say? Well you're in luck; I still have some things I wanna try out." She plays back, leaning up to press a kiss to the corner of your lips as her hands wander over your body.
Your eyes widen in shock, "What the hell could you POSSIBLY be thinking of?? We tried just about everything." She laughs at your reaction and pulls you down closer to her body to whisper in your ear. Jennie can feel you tremble with every new image she puts in your head, just like she had in the park, her lips dragging you further under as she sneaks little kisses to your skin here and there.
"Let me get this gay straight: you want me to do that on the balcony? What if my neighbors see?"
"They won't, we're on one of the top floors. And even if they do… would that really be so bad?" She lets the question hang in the air; she'd be lying if she said the idea of getting caught doesn't thrill her. Thinking of your lips on her neck as she rocks against you, pinned to the railing while out in the open for the world to see, sends a rush of warmth through her.
"I wish you weren't so good at convincing me to do things. You're dangerous, Jennie Kim." You warn, pointing a disapproving finger at her. Your eyes nearly pop out when she kisses it, taking the digit in between her lips while looking up at you innocently. This woman will be the death of you.
◇◇ Back At The Blackpink Dorm ◇◇
"Yah, I know! The new update looks so weird--"
"There she is," Lisa says, motioning to the doorway, interrupting Jisoo and Rosé’s conversation about whatever new video game the unnie had downloaded.
Jennie leans on the heavy door as she locks it behind her, lazily spinning around on her heel with her lips drawn back in a huge gummy smile.
"Somebody's happy…" Jisoo teases, shooting her a smirk. She's still riding the high you put her on, and it's no wonder her members are noticing. It's not like she's exactly trying to hide it, either.
"How was your night? Have fun with Y/N?" The maknae wiggles her eyebrows while propping herself up on her elbows to see Jennie's reaction.
"LISA! She wasn't supposed to know!" Rosé shouts, letting out a disappointed huff. The younger girl only shrugs, a stupid smirk on her lips. Some people just wanna watch the world burn.
The brunette's daze is momentarily broken at this, and she asks what they're talking about.
Jisoo lets out a hesitant breath before explaining, "We saw you two leave together, but we agreed to not bring it up until you did." She shoots some daggers at Lisa before continuing, "Somebody can't seem to keep her mouth shut, though."
Jennie only chuckles now, not really caring if they knew or not. Her night was too wonderful to keep to herself; she would've ended up telling them anyway.
"Gather round, girls; I'll fill you in."
◇◇◇◇◇ Months Later  ◇◇◇◇◇
"Why exactly do we have to go to this premiere again?" Jennie grumbles, looking out the window of their limousine. She'd much rather be back at the dorm, snuggled into her cozy heap of pillows and blankets with Netflix playing on her tv.
"Some of our colleagues are starring as background characters, so YG wants us to attend and show our support." Jisoo informs, always seeming to have more knowledge than all of the other girls combined. Jennie nods; the reasoning is sound, but she'd still prefer to be home. Mingling with business people for god knows how long doesn't seem all that enticing to her.
"What's the movie?" Lisa asks, throwing the question behind her to the other girls as she searches the cubby for some complimentary snacks.
"Empress of the Heart," Rosé answers, finally knowing something that Jisoo doesn't.
"Let's watch the trailer for it. If we have to sit through it then we might as well see what we're getting ourselves into." Lisa suggests, her fingers busy opening the bag of chips she chose from the assortment.
"Yeah, okay." Jennie says, her statement followed by words of agreement from the other girls. Rosé takes her phone out to search the title, pepping up when she spots it. She whispers something to Jisoo and Lisa, Jennie paying no mind as she watches the buildings pass by. Her favorite thing to fidget with is secure in her grip, occupying her mind. It's familiar design feels good in her hands -- like it's right where it belongs. (Yes, this is what you think it is).
The other girls put their acting skills to use as they hit play, keeping straight faces when your voice comes through the phone speakers. Jennie's head snaps over to them, recognizing the sound in an instant. "Y-Y/N's starring in it?" She asks, voice coming out as a stutter. The thought of seeing you again thrills her, but she doesn't know if she can do that without falling even deeper. Your night together left her with lasting feelings, none of which she was prepared for in the slightest, and she knows they'll be reignited the moment she lays eyes on you.
"Mhm." They nod sympathetically, all knowing how much she's thought about you the last few months.
Their driver knocks on the partition, requesting to open it. They give him the all clear, and soon he's rolling it down to inform them, "We're here, ladies."
"I'll be okay," Jennie tells them, attempting to stop their worries from growing anymore than they already have. She plays the statement back in her head, whispering it to herself as she exits the limo; tonight could only go one of two ways, and it depends entirely on you.

Cal Kestis x Reader (Continued 4) The Proposal
OG Request: can i request that you write some cal kestis since you haven't written him in so long? how about one where the whole mantis crew helps him propose to the reader? it can even be like a part 4 to the "training" series lol
Author’s Note:  I am SO sorry at how long this took me to post.  I got hit with writer’s block so bad, and this week, I ended up getting sick. It’s been tough to find time and energy to write, but again, I am sorry at how long it was.  I do hope you enjoy it!!!
"I've never seen you like this," Greez commented, lifting a brow skeptically.  He planted his hands on his hips as he watched Cal make a cup of caf.  It was a task the young jedi had done many times without fail since he was the definition of balance, but somehow, he had managed to spill his cup on the counter.
Cal lifted his brows only slightly as he tried to act casual.  “What do you mean?”
“What’s got you so worked up?” Greez asked.  “You seem off...Not quite sure what it is…”
Years of training had given Cal Kestis the ability to hide.  He’d hidden from the Empire for so long on Bracca.  He had concealed his identity without issue until that fateful day when he rescued his coworker and friend- an event that began quite the adventure.  Still, even so, he hadn’t been able to conceal his nervousness from the Mantis pilot.  His gaze flickered to Cere, who was quietly sipping her own cup of caf from the dining booth.
Her amusement at the interaction was palpable.  Cal could see the slightest smile on her lips which she hid behind her mug as she took another sip, eyes trained to the table in front of her.
What would she say if she knew the truth?  Would she be so amused?  As worried as Cal was that his mentor would disapprove of his choice, he was running out of time.  This wasn’t something he could conceal.
“The truth is…” he paused, running a hand through his orange hair.
“What?”  Greez prompted.  “What is it?”
   “I’m…”
Cere lowered her cup, the soft clink of the material against the table catching Cal’s attention.  “You’re going to propose to _________.”
Cal gazed at her, lips parting in surprise.
“Very perceptive of you, Greez,” she continued, eyes flicking to the pilot.  “To have caught that something was going on with our Cal.  However-” she met Cal’s gaze coolly “-the nervous excitement was coming off him in waves.”
Cal exhaled, shoulders lowering as he braced himself for some sort of sagely warning about the path he was choosing, but Cere merely smiled.
Greez's jaw dropped straight to the floor. "You...you what?"  He chuckled quietly at first before bursting into joyful laughter as he approached Cal.  “Congratulations, kid!”
He smiled appreciatively at the support, but shook his head.  “She hasn’t said ‘yes’ yet.”
Greez shifted his stance, resting a hand on his hip.  "What, you think she'll say 'no'?"
“Yes, I mean...no...We’ve talked about it, but I just don't know how to do it.”
Cere surprised him further by rising from the booth.  “Need some help?”
He tilted his head.  “You’d do that?  But I thought…”
“The order is gone, Cal,” she replied.  “As members of this crew, we’ve already done some things the Council would have disapproved of.  I think after all these years of sorrow, a little joy is something we need.”
   Cal nodded.  “Thank you.”
“So wait,” Greez shook his head.  “You want our advice?  On how to propose?  A former monk and a lonely pilot...what could go wrong?”
- - - -
   “Hey there, uh, kid.”
You smiled, dabbing at a few beads of sweat that glistened on your forehead.  “Hey, Greez.  How’s it going?”  You gave your arms a little stretch, holding back the groan that threatened to spill from your lips at the dull ache.  Cal had assigned you to an arduous training session all afternoon.  It was unexpected, but you were up to the challenge.  Upon returning to the Mantis, you found no sign of your boyfriend, or Cere for that matter.
There was only Greez, who averted his gaze nervously.  You got the distinct feeling that he was hiding something.  Something big.
“Everything alright?” you asked, testing the waters.
“Alright?  Uh, yeah.  Yeah.  Everything’s alright.  Why wouldn’t it be?  Is everything alright with you?”
You fought a smile as he fumbled his way through the somewhat defensive response.  “Yeah, I’m done with training for the day.  I’m just looking for Cal, actually.  Have you seen him?”
“Yes, I mean, no...I may have seen him…  He went somewhere.”
“He did?  Did he say where?”
Greez fell silent then, and you raised your brows incredulously at him.  The stubborn pilot wasn’t going to talk.  Your suspicion grew, especially when his nerves seemed to spike even more.  With a shrug, you headed back toward your bunk.  Cere wasn’t anywhere to be found either.
What if there was a new development with the jedi order?  Even though the holocron containing the location of force-sensitives across the galaxy had been taken care of, the Mantis crew had not lost hope that someday the jedi would return.  Perhaps something had come up.  Still, you weren’t sure why that would mean that both he and Cere would need to discuss it elsewhere.  It wasn’t like Greez couldn’t be trusted.  Or you.
As you changed out of your training clothes, your hand brushed over the hilt of your lightsaber.  You gripped the handle and removed it from your belt before doing so with the second saber you had constructed some time ago.  The weight in your hands no longer felt foreign and unsettling.  The sabers had become part of you.  They were not just weapons; they were tools.   They were tools to defend those you loved and to usher in peace when the time was right.
You set them down and continued changing into your gear.
For years, you’d heard stories of the jedi old.  You’d never imagined becoming one.  You’d never imagined to have a mentor as young and handsome as Cal.  And you certainly never imagined falling in love the way you did.
The thought was bittersweet.  You mourned for Cal and all that he had lost, but you were so glad to have found him.  He was glad to have found you too.  You could feel it every single day.
A knock on the door to your quarters pulled you from thought.  “Yes?”
“Hey,” Greez said, poking his head in.  “He’s waiting for you.”
“He’s...waiting for me?”  You watched as he disappeared from the doorway before shaking your head.  “This day just gets weirder.”

Greez had followed you off the ship and stayed close behind as you picked up on Cal’s trail.  He insisted that he was not supposed to give you any hints- only that you were supposed to reach out with your feelings and find Cal on your own.
“Is this some sort of training exercise?” you wondered aloud.  “Because I already finished training for the day.”
“Sorry, kid,” Greez shrugged.  “It’s not for me to say.”
“But of course.”  You smirked.  “It’s never that simple.”  You let your eyes slide shut as you reached out with your other senses.  You took a deep breath, inhaling the lovely scents of the forest- leafy greens and even something sweet, like blossoms.  There was a damp feel to the soil beneath your shoes.  More clearly than the other things you felt, you sensed the familiar presence of Cal.  He was nearby.
As soon as you began walking in that direction, Greez uttered a “woah.”
You paused, glancing at him over your shoulder.  “What?”
“You jedi never cease to fascinate me,” he said.  “You know where he is without even a hint.”
   “It’s automatic at this point.”
“So, you...you two really love each other, huh?” he ventured.
You smiled and uttered a quiet, “yeah.”
The two of you walked through the forest.  A familiar tingle in your feelings let you know that someone was just ahead.  It was Cere.  You’d recognize that presence anywhere after traveling with her for so long.  She sat in the center of a small clearing, legs crossed and eyes shut.
“This is a training exercise, isn’t it?” you whispered under your breath at the sight.
Cere’s eyes opened, and her lips turned up in a smirk.  “Cal’s waiting for you.”
“So I hear.”  You wanted to shake your head in amusement, but if it was indeed a surprise training session, Cere was acting as a mentor, so you instead gave her a nod of respect.  “Is there anything...Is there...What is my task?”
“That is something you will have to find out yourself.  I wish you luck.”  And with that, Cere rose from her seated position and gave you a nod before stepping aside.  Greez stole a look and shrugged, immediately going to join her.
All the while a strange anticipation was growing in you.  Part of it was curiosity on you part for this next step in your training, and part of it you chalked up to be Cal’s emotions mingling with yours.  Even though you had no idea what was going on and why, something about the situation made you feel exhilarated.  Like something amazing was about to happen.
You continued on your way, shooting your teammates one last curious look before vanishing farther into the forest.  The tingling feeling changed.  It was soon the distinct feeling that you got whenever Cal was nearby.   You knew it before you saw him that he sensed your approach, but when you finally stepped into the clearing where he was waiting, you weren’t expecting the sudden drop of his heart.  It was so sudden that you halted for a moment, thrown off by the swift shift in emotion.  Nervousness.  What did he have to be nervous about?  You were the one being tested!
   “Cal?” you ventured.
“___________,” he breathed out.  It was like he struggled to breathe for a moment.   You’d never seen him this way before.
“Is everything alright?” you asked, voice ticked up with concern.
“Ah, yeah,”  He nodded, glancing down for a moment.  “____________, I need to ask you something.”
As soon as he said that, your own heart dropped.  It was nervousness at what you suspected was coming next, but it was a good nervousness.  You immediately shifted, hands going over your heart as Cal walked over to you.  There was a small part of you screaming to not give into the hope, just in case it wasn’t what you thought.  Before the seeds of doubt could take root, Cal got down on one knee in front of you.
Bright afternoon sunlight poured in through the treetops, dancing along his skin with each gust of wind that shook the branches above.  His eyes were fixed on you, glinting with a light you’d seen in him many times when he looked at you.  It was love.  Adoration.
“_____________,” he said, gently twining his fingers with those of your left hand.  “I love you.  As a jedi, I never thought I’d be able to go down this path….but here I am, and I’m so glad that I can.  You’re the only one I’d want to go with.”
   “Cal….”  you murmured.
   “Will you marry me?”
Even though you’d realized the words were coming, they still hit hard.  Your vision blurred with tears as the emotions welled up within you.  “Yes, I will.  I love you, Cal.”  And you pulled your hand from his only to wrap both your arms around his neck and plant a loving kiss to his lips.
Cal kissed you back passionately, leaving you with one last peck before he pulled away to take your hand again.  His eyes darted up to meet yours before they focused on your finger as he slipped a ring on.  Your tears hadn’t stopped.
“Cal, I’m so happy.”  Then, a chuckle escaped your lips as you wiped your eyes.  “I was wondering what all this was about.  I thought it was a training exercise.”
“That was the idea,” he said with the shake of his head.  “We thought it’d be more of a surprise that way.”
   “‘We’?”
“Cere and Greez helped me out.  I knew I wanted to put this ring on your finger, but I wasn’t quite sure how.”
“Thank you,” you called over your shoulder, and you were amused when Cere and Greez emerged from the brush.  “Really, this was a lovely surprise.”
“I’m glad you thought so,” Greez said, clasping his hands together.  He glanced between the two of you curiously.  “So, when’s the wedding?”
