Dsmpblr stuff in one big archive post
The fake ranboo arg (run by a blog some people thought was ranboo or a kinnie. It never was, but instead was some sort of arg surrounding the ranboo lore. Multiple characters, like the Duke, duchess, and a discord server where people started translating the posts (which were all in ender, or minecraft galactic) (link to doc)
Minesonas, and then subsequently citizen memes. This was contained within three non-consecutive weeks, where people were discussing whether lmanburg had citizens or if it did, what would it be like?
People upset over ghostburs library being blown up. There were a lot of books in there important to a storyline, and some blogs were very upset they couldn't be archived
Mcytblr awards, which had a doc and everything (link)
DSMP sexyman!!!!! The competition one blog held to go over all the supposed sexymen in mcytblr, and if they were or not. The doc for this is here (link)
Dilfcourse (world sluttiest absent father) this went on prior to philza eventually finding out he was being called a dilf, and I think there may have been a poll (?) About who was the biggest dilf right after the one mcc with all new art of certain male ccs, but it also basically ended when philza got temporarily mad about tumblrites not wanting him on tumblr, and discovered dilfza. Then when he said he didn't like it, the entire "titty window" philza design disappeared and everyone stopped posting dilfza.
Philza nerfing a blog for an url (I think it turned out that tumblr did it? But it was still WEIRD) and EVERYONE got mad about it.
The one quackity kinnie blog? During this time, a ton of kinnie blogs popped up and the quackity one sticks in my head because it was kind of convincing
Drinnie. Another kinnie blog, I actually never knew if this one was real. It was more activ3 before I joined, but it was still a pretty large thing in small mcytblr.
Whatever we had going on with piss. I think dream started the pissbaby thing and it stuck. That was so big for so long
The split between dteamblr and dsmpblr. Also the protectiveness we kind of handed off between them. Being such a closely related fandom in the publics eyes, dsmpblr and dteamblr would both get hate anons about Dream and I still recall going to bat for them sometimes. Also the discussed "gnf sickness". I don't want to mention him because he's a horrible man and deserves jailtime but it was a part of it.
Mcytboundaries. Does anyone else remember that blog? That thing was so important in the first seven months I was here.
The death of kinnies. When those few kinnie blogs that cropped up started getting really upset over getting tons of copypastas and took them seriously. I remember being so annoyed at them because if you make a kinnie blog (NOT a roleplay blog) thats the culture!!! You knew that was going to happen!!!! Put a disclaimer in your bio or something gosh.
Beacon lamps sudden ubiquitous posts. Similarly with 420technoblazeit, sometimes there would be a joke that just stuck around because it was them who posted it.
This one's more recent, but those sootblr bloggers who kept having almost e-sex in random peoples notes. Even bloggers outside of mcytblr. What was up with those guys
Not wanting ccs on tumblr. Not an event, just the overarching opinion that it would be a bad thing. It slowly died off as an opinion during late 22, something that made me and a few other og mcytblrs very sad or hesitant because people would start sharing tumblr posts with the ccs. I remember It felt like the final death of og mcytblr to me
Does anyone remember if there was that one dsmp citizen server and if it actually happened???? That might be a fake memory.
Tubbo tumblr!! This is multiple events, but he mentioned he had one in early dsmp, and it kind of overjoyed people. Then, months later, he started scrolling on stream and people made posts (INCLUDING myself) about being so genuinely scared of him being online. Out of all of the "dsmper makes a tumblr" instances, I think this was the one with the most positive reaction.

KARL HATEPOSTING. When for a month in 2021 everyone just HATED him for no real reason, maybe because of tftsmp?. I think it stemmed from two blogs, and then got its start in og mcytblr circles. I remember my ex mutual squid got too into it, it was really crazy. Why did we even do that.

The like, Hermitcraft vs Dsmpblr sudden dichotomy. One day I remember all of a sudden there were hermit blogs, and a few dsmp blogs after them, that started getting really pissy over people referring to dsmpblr as "mcytblr" because it wasn't the whole of mcytblr. Gosh that was so stupid and funny.
Those days people posted about crying over lost vods. Whenever someone did, it would catch like a virus and EVERYONE would start talking about how sad it was.
Kroger anon...Hearty anon...my loves. Hearty Anon was like the darling of mcytblr. I didn't even know they were a real blog I just thought they were like Kroger Anon. Always wanted one of those.
Finding out wooteena was like 11. Not actually eleven, but seriously everyone thought they were like an adult person I don't know.
Subtle, but the mcytblr friendgroups and different parts having beef with each other. It was really lowkey, but I'm sorry metfell and conarcoin and their whole deal had some real haters. thats probably because they were kinda mean sometimes.
INNITER OPRESSION. gosh I remember how giddy I would get defending myself over the url and saying it was just the first thing I thought of. If you had a certain url you were a magnet for sections of mcytblr in the silliest of ways I loved it so much. little cultural pockets for every streamer.
Mcytblrs reaction to the mcytwt trending writer. I thought that was so funny.
THE TUMBLR PODCAST. Those guys on tumblr that talked about us once!!!! On a podcast!!!! Similarly, all those times we dominated not only the trending page when there was a stream, but also the fandom reports tumblr put out about which keywords and tags were most popular. Whenever someone dropped down or moved up it was really "campeao del Mundo" in the mcytblr tags. And the slow decline and us being really really sad when a spot went -15...
DOES anyone else remember the triad. Mcyt reddit, Twitter, and tumblr. How Twitter thought we had a rivals to lovers thing but actually we just hated their guts. There was fanart and everything
When the Twitter refugees came over and the first wave was semi hate and semi welcoming. Everyone came around for the second wave, but the first exodus was 85% hesitant welcome and 15% vitriol and fear.
The discourse about calling them Twitter refugees??? Because refugees are "an actual thing" we couldn't call them that anymore. I just thought it was a little stupid.
Not a specific "event" but more a shift from analysis posts and liveblogs to art and headcanon posting. There was a time in the beginning where everyone theorized about anything and everything. As the dsmp aged and mcytblr grew it became so much more isolated, I still don't understand why people stopped using liveblog tags. Bring them back!!!!! Aurghh!!!!!!
When mcytblr (like nine people out of it) started going after some dude? I forget. But there was a harassment campaign, and death threats allegedly and some big blogs made a whole deal out of it and started saying how mcytblr was no different or better than mcytwt and I don't remember if it was justified or stupid. It was for sure after the first Twitter migration and possibly after the second.
Mcytblr crafting stuff. Such an awesome group of people. I think there's an archive for mcytblr crafts, btw, it's @mcytcrafts
Just about everything I remember, besides the discourse about tommy/others getting rid of the dsmp monuments or builds that had been there a really long time like the Wal-Mart and it being really heated for a while. By the time jack and tubbo started planting potatoes everyone was cool about the whole thing.

I know nothing about any Minecraft YouTubers, and this whole time I thought Dream was in the QSMP, and I was about to block you because I don’t really like him. So I went to your blog and read your tagged pin about not wanting to interact with Dream stans. I was confused by this since I thought he was in the SMP you like and had to Google it and realized Dream hasn’t even been in the QSMP this entire time.
Anyway, I guess PSA to people like me who don’t follow Minecraft stuff: Dream is, in fact, NOT a part of the QSMP.
I feel like such a fool since I try not to lump content creators together, but I really misunderstood this one.

DUDE. DUDE DR*M TRIED TO COPY THE IDEA OF QSMP BEING MULTILINGUAL/CULTURAL AND WAS GONNA CALL IT "UNITED SMP". IT WAS AN ENTIRE DRAMA THING (mainly on Twitter bc that's where the CCs are active). BUT IT LITERALLY [OFFICIALLY] ENDED HIS FRIENDSHIP WITH QUACKITY. AND YOU CONFUSING THINGS SO BADLY WHILE I KNOW THIS IS TOO FUNNY FOR ME TO BE LIKE "UM PARDON THE FUCK" ABOUT IT, SO YOU GET A PASS THIS TIME.
THE Q IN QSMP STANDS FOR QUACKITY. THE CONTENT CREATOR WHO MADE QSMP. (Fans will say it stands for Queer because so many of the CCs on it make gay love canonically in roleplay so often)

Anon I can promise you most, if not ALL of QSMP fans fucking HATE Dr*m's p*dophile asshole egotistical ass. I want that sack of shit to drop dead like NOW. At all times. I could rant for EONS about his stupid ass and the horrid experiences I've had with his stupid fans. I'm glad you've now learned first hand why people who think "all of Minecraft YouTube = Dr*m & His Friends" are stupid and why nobody who watches mcyt likes people like that.
Dr*m (and the Dr*m Team [Dream & his friends G*orgeNotFound and S*pnap])'s fans are the mcyt equivalent of Tr*mp supporters. No one likes or respects them. No one understands how they can support such a problematic douchebag when there are entire threads of actual literal proof he's a problematic douchebag. Some of the things in those threads are things he has straight up admitted himself are real. Also I am literally censoring his, G*rge and S*pnap's names so their rabid ass stans don't somehow find this post and then swarm & doxx me. Because they do that. I have witnessed genuinely traumatic witch hunts on Twitter executed by Dr*m Team stans before I got rid of that shit app.
Somewhere I have a post of entire TLDR'd reasons between 2021-2022 of why Dr*m fucking sucks and no one should support him.
The SMP you were confusing is DSMP. Dr*m SMP. Which btw he didn't even fucking pay for the server the SMP was on himself. His friend (ex friend? I wish/hope ex) BadBoyHalo (BBH) who IS on QSMP was paying for it. So people like me who fucking hate and resent Dr*m will spitefully call DSMP "BBHSMP" sometimes because almost all the streamers that were on DSMP minus the Dr*m Team were and still are fabulous people, and I will gladly list them and the reasons they're great people if I really have to or if someone's genuinely curious about it. DSMP was awesome. Several were amazing queer creators that wouldn't have the exposure they do now if they hadn't joined and that's just one reason DSMP was great before we all found out Dr*m is a walking talking sack of shit.
So now that you have this knowledge, do yourself and the entire mcyt community a favor: Stop assuming anything Minecraft YouTube = Dr*m = Racist And Bad and Shitty. And start educating other people who think that way that they're wrong too.
Anyone who gets worked up at hearing "SMP" in a sentence is literally getting angry at hearing Minecraft "Survival Multi Player" which is often literally just groups of friends who are also streamers playing Minecraft. And maybe roleplaying as they do so. People who get angry at SMPs are literally getting mad about people roleplaying in a video game about cubes. It's like if they got pissed at a cube version of Dungeons & Dragons somewhat. They just look like a massive fucking clown.
Also, in general, don't forget the golden rule: To assume makes an ass out of u and me.
I am patting your head anon. Thank you for the laugh. Now take this knowledge and do the mcyt fandom a favor by shutting other uninformed people up. We have enough issues we're fighting to put an end to every day. We're not some racist monolith or whatever like some people for some reason think, so many of us are fighting tooth and nail to bring awareness to internal issues in the fandom, constantly. Just like any other fucking fandom. It's absolutely mind-blowing and braincell-killing to me that non-mcyt fans just assume we're all okay with racism or some shit. I've actually seen people like this, it's a real thing somehow.
Also also: I hope anyone who was following me for my previous hyperfixations (looking at you JSE community people who didn't also take the jse -> mcyt pipeline like me) also takes this knowledge. Out of genuine curiosity, how did you end up getting into dsmp now? Are you just picking up fanworks or scrawling YouTube for vods? Also hello and welcome, it's nice to see a fellow fandom archaeologist.
I had a couple little things poking me towards it. Some Hermitcraft blogs I follow would sometimes share dsmp fanart. Somehow spotify decided I needed to listen to Derivakat (100% accurate, good spotify, you're the only algorithm I like or tolerate in my life).
But more than anything, I think it happened because of the goddamn sandduo tag. I'm a big sucker for Third Life and its hit tragicomedy duo Scar and Grian, who are commonly known as desertduo and, less commonly, sandduo. But sometimes, I'd run into a mcyt post tagged as sandduo, and it would feature some OTHER bird-themed guy with a hot disaster frenemy. I had to get to the bottom of it. Cut to a couple months later, and I still don't know why the fuck Wilbur and Phil are called that, but hey I guess I have a new obsession.
I started out my dive by watching Blueberry TV, which certainly does well at distilling an intelligible plot out of the server's chaos. But in compressing huge amounts of content into just the bits that explain why the characters are fighting, the edit loses a lot of heart. I couldn't fathom why people found any of the characters likeable, nor why the content creators would even want to log in to such a hostile environment.
But the fanart and the music told me that good artists did find the server compelling, so I stuck with it and hopped over to this playlist by Fairy Rave, which contains the Blueberry edits, but also other clips and some full videos by various players. Most vitally for me, it includes bits where the players are actually enjoying themselves and trying to entertain one another. As I've gotten deeper in, I've also started watching some Ranboo VODs and unrelated Techno videos.
If anyone has favorite streams or clips that my consumption method is likely to miss, send em to me! I'm sure I've missed a lot.

It’s like how when c!Wilbur rigged the election, it was mostly as a joke, but now we can look back and go “...actually that was like- hello? what? this happened. okay.”

See? Dream obviously didn’t foresee the whole exile/abuse plotline and shit, but he would’ve gone “oh do you know what’d be funny” and then started the disc war with Tommy, all while exaggerating his role in it by threatening to burn the discs and stuff. Like, he is playing a character, even if that character isn’t fully fleshed out.

I don’t think cc!Dream’s audio is meant to make c!Dream sympathetic. It is an audio practice of c!Dream, and c!Dream is known to be an extremely unreliable narrator, especially when trying to make it out that “woe is me, I was pushed to this”. I think c!Dream is definitely sympathetic, however not because he was pushed to this point, but because of how lonely he is and how determined he is to fulfill a futile plan.
So yeah, cool audio, but it isn’t exactly reliable, considering it’s coming from c!Dream. And yes, he can be honest- brutally sometimes- however, I think this is the time he is choosing to twist his actions and make it seem like he’s a victim to his own choices. Humans aren’t snakes, we’re aware of choices much more. Snakes bite to protect, and humans can blow up; can exile; can destroy, but that isn’t to protect.

I've wanted to make this post for a bit. I've had this blog for like, 9 years now. Which, thinking about that, it's kind of wild.
Anyways, I think it's time for me to formally reintroduce myself.
Hi, I'm Starlight! I'm 24 years old, and I'm nonbinary. I use she/they pronouns. It has taken me almost 2 years to say this actually.
I love writing, playing games, and listening to music. In my spare time I even stream games on twitch sometimes! I mostly stream Minecraft and Terraria, but sometimes I play other games. A month ago I joined an SMP called the NerdSquad SMP.
I cry easily because I react strongly to other people's emotions. Literally I cry over so many tiktok videos. Sometimes I even have a "maintenance cry" where I seek out things that make me cry to get it through my system.
My interests change occasionally, some last years, some last months. Here's a current list:

I love writing, two things I love to include in my writing are father and daughter stories and also plant symbolism. I have a creative nonfiction essay collection I'm working on that's called The Garden.
I haven't worked on my Security Breach Fanfic "Once More The Nightmare Factory" since June. I think now is a good time to get back into it. I still want to have something to publish in December, 1 year after the game released, because it does mean a lot to me.
This post is getting a lot longer than I expected it to get, but I just wanted a good re-introduction.

i used to be both a huge fan of sbi and the dteam and slowly i moved more to just the dteam but i still like sbi but no joke i really do dislike and get annoyed by them now because of the fans on here.
I feel like people are gonna be mad about this one.
I used to be essentially SBI-exclusive. The first DSMP cc I ever watched was Tommy and I watched only him for a while, then I got really into Wilbur's music and was a huge fan of him and his character. On the first stream I got to watch live, c!Wilbur was killed; I only started writing DSMP fics because I was unsatisfied with the amount of c!Wilbur fan-content there was, and I only made this blog because I wanted to promote my ao3. So I really owe it all to 2/3 of SBI. I've always been much more in the SBI web, but at some point, I got really into Dream's content and him as a creator. And that really shifted both my position and perspective on the community (which sounds overdramatic, but whatever, I'm just talking).
I have met infinitely more SBI mains who will scorn you for being a DTeam fan than the opposite. I've encountered so many Wilbur fans who pat each other on the back for "not having to pretend to like their cc's music" (Wilbur liked Roadtrip btw <3) - I've crossed paths with many Techno fans who claim that Dream is a plague upon the community or whatever (Dream is literally one of you, c'mon guys) - and so on and so on when it comes to SBI. I was telling someone this earlier, but it's not that I'm more into the Feral Boys - from their web, I really only watch Dream (not that I dislike the others or anything, I just don't keep up with them) - it's was just so insufferable to see constant hate from all the blogs I'd followed as a Wilbur main and I wound up more involved in the FB side of things.
So, in that sense, yeah. I had a similar experience to you. The fandom kind of pushed me in that direction and I'm still a little sad about it sometimes because I really do love Wilbur lmao. It's just so much constant fuckery, not even just criticism. It's tiring. Who would willingly watch their interest(s) get shit on all the time, y'know? It's been a much more isolating experience than I expected around here.
BUT -
1. if someone thinks Dream is a bad person, I do think that they're wrong, but I don't want to make it sound like I'm telling them to sit down and shut up about it. It's good when people stand firm in their opinions and sometimes that's gonna create an inevitable divide. I just would also encourage them to consider the situation from other perspectives, etc etc (that doc that goes around is literal crap, please stop saying Dream exploited child labor and shit lmao).
2. I also don't want to make it sound like DTeam blogs are paragons of kindness and good behavior. I mean, we've seen it just today - a person said something upsetting and they got hate anon after hate anon sent to them. This side of things is very catty sometimes and I think it would be good for a lot of people to occasionally look at things they disagree with and consider them instead of calling it bullshit (though you're obviously under no obligation to - internet talks are just that and if you're here to have fun that's v cool /gen).
I think I'm off-track lol. Anon, I'm sorry that you had an experience that kinda ruined SBI for you and I hope that you can regain the enjoyment you used to get from them :/. I also wish that the SBI mains on here were less aggressive (this is a generalization) toward people who like a cc you don't, or even just a different one from you.

To the new people from twitter
There are probably enough posts already, and probably im one of the last people who should be making one of these because I migrated from Reddit in January, but I really want to make one of these so here it is.
First of all, welcome! I hope you have a good time while you’re here, it’s one of the better fandoms I’ve been in on this site and is generally a really nice environment. However, Tumblr is fairly different to Twitter both outside and inside the context of this fandom.
One major difference is the way content is spread, on Tumblr likes do little to nothing while reblogging is the way the majority of content is shared, reblogging puts a post onto your page, while still showing the creator at the top, this lets anyone who follows you or looking through your page see the post allowing them to reblog the post from you sharing it to more people. Reblogging is not the same as reposting, which is extremely rude, you are just showing more people the post and it is encouraged especially for art.
One thing that will make your experiences infinitely better is cultivating your personal fandom experience- meaning don’t be afraid to block people, even if they haven’t done anything wrong and you just disagree with their opinion, or they make you feel uncomfortable with them, and even if you just feel like it- just block them. Also, do not take it personally if someone has blocked you it doesn’t mean they even dislike you, just that they don’t want to see your content which is fine.
Another thing that is important is the lack of content creators, the majority of people don’t want content creators to see their posts, and with the lack of any content creator one here publicly its strange to be creating content of any sort with the desire for a content creator to see it. Although they’re some content creators here, while we do sometimes joke about finding their accounts- do not actually try and find their accounts. Also do not fall for the Kinnie/roleplay/trolling blogs they are not actually the creators.
While there are no content creators with public accounts, please respect their boundaries still even if you think they won’t see it, @smpboundries documents the majority of these- the most obvious being to not ship people who aren’t comfortable with it, don’t sexualize people who aren’t okay with it, and don’t truth people.
Another important feature of Tumblr is the tagging system, this is how people can see you’re posting if they aren’t following you and also how people can avoid seeing your posts. To tag your posts you should add the relevant smp (probably the dream smp) you can do this by adding #dream smp, #dsmp, or #dsmpblr into the tag section at the bottom of the post, then you should add the relevant characters in the same way as well as any relevant group name like the bench trio or sbi. Another thing you should add are tags to warn of content, this means any trigger warnings or content warnings- adding them at the top does nothing, it also considered common courtesy to tag critical posts for example c!(insert name) critical for characters or tagging dream smp critical for the dream smp as a whole, this also applies to groups such as L’manberg of the syndicate- it also considered polite to tag discourse. Tags can also help you navigate the archive which everyone has unless they have turned it off. You should make sure make sure to not tag things that are not relevant do not tag dream smp post as Minecraft and do not put Minecraft in your tags or it will show up in the main tags (for example Philza Minecraft)- the same applies for mineblr, don’t tag origins that is already the name of another fandom and don’t tag characters you didn’t mention in the post or only mentioned briefly. To block tags, you can go into your settings and find it there, here you can block any Tw/cw or anything you would rather not see (I would recommend block mcyt x readers also).
Trending is something that also very different on Tumblr as while you can get trending, it’s a lot hard and we don’t really try to- please do not spam tags to try and get trending.
If you want to communicate with a user there are many different ways to do so- you can send asks which don’t have to be a question, this can also be done privately and anonymously. Do not send hate to anyone no matter how much you disagree with them. You can also privately message people although isn’t always the norm. You can also submit posts which are will be put on their blog if they choose to feature it. Bots will follow you occasionally but they are generally quite obvious and just trying to get you onto porn sites. Don’t be afraid to ask people to tag things.
As you may have already noticed generally opinion is very different to other sites, with more Tommy, Tubbo and Wilbur sympathy and more techno and Philza crit then other sites. Please do not take character crit personally and feel free to block tags/ people if they make you uncomfortable pr make you day any worse- no matter your opinions you are guaranteed to find at least a couple mutals who agree with you.
There are also somethings that are not excepted here, ableism is not okay in any form- do not demonize character for mental illness symptoms, do not infantilize neurodivergent people, don’t call technoblade monotone, and don’t insult characters by comparing them to a mental illness (e.g., calling dream a psycho). Don’t be sexist, even if you do it in a girl boss away- don’t infantilize female content creators, don’t be overly critical of them, and don’t sexualize them if they aren’t comfortable with it. Don’t be racist- don’t assign poc characters traits based of racial stereotypes, don’t call them racist for expressing their own culture and don’t create racial allegories in the dream smp story where the poc characters are oppressing white characters. Don’t be creepy towards the minors of the server- UK consent laws are more complicated than you think and even if what you are doing is technically legal you are still a bit of a nonce, it’s still not okay to sexualize them if you are the same age, and once they are no longer underaged it is still not okay to sexualize them if they aren’t comfortable with it. Don’t post abuse apologism- it makes people uncomfortable (especially abuse victims) and leads to a negative fandom space.
Overall, although I’m sure you’ve seen some posts joking around try to scare you a little bit- as a general we aren’t that bad, and you shouldn't be afraid of interacting with most people, make sure you are having fun. Although the content tends to be focused more with analysis and friendly discourse- don’t engage with if you’re comfortable with it- I’m sure there will be something for you whether it be fanart or meme. Don’t be afraid to follow random people and respond to posts even if you are newer and don’t feel like you have t watch anything you don’t enjoy or take part in any activities you don’t want to. Fandom is for fun and if it ever stops being that don’t be afraid to take a few steps back.

Problematic culture is just cringe culture but painted in a coat of "morality" as an exsuese to insult and make fun of people, like i could go to the recent posts under the dream smp tag and find someone telling dream smp fans to kys and and when called out on it they either call you sensitive or say "well dsmp is problematic so :/ get better intrests" as if consuming media while being critical of it isnt a thing. If they actually care about what's "problematic" they'd talk to their regions representative to pressure them into approving laws that would help marginalised people not bullying people online

If someone really wanted to do a witch hunt with me I'd be fucked with stuff I said back at the start of this blog (nothing bad mostly shade at pogtopia!wilbur). They do that so they can pretend they have a higher moral horse and so they are perfect. This is just a way to hate with 'reasons'
Like twt, people made such a hunt against people that liked techno, h, fundy and schlatt that they had to hide. Ramtwt disappeared for a big while, and yiptwt still has to deal with death threats. The so called "benevolent, good, and with better moral" subtwt scarred a bunch of fellow fans just bc they didnt like the ccs
Its been such madness and hate that its honestly panic inducing. I honestly never check the dream smp tag bc it really overwhelms me sometimes, and these people feel good doing it. Its sickening.
Problematic/Cringe culture has reached a point that they cant let anything grow better, bc they act as if something or someone is bad they cant have a second chance, or time to learn and do better. It's a snake eating its own tail

Hi there I've been following you for a bit now and I really enjoy your blog!
I just was wondering you opinion on something.
I have been re-watching Philza's hardcore playthrough, and first off it's amazing how far he has come since the beginning of that series but his personality hasn't changed at all.
But the thing that stuck out to me was how much calmer those streams were. A dono or a gifted sub would be every few minutes or so and the chat was actually readable for the most part.
Compared to a recent stream where his donos were behind by 30 to 40 minutes meaning there was a constant voice to text speech throughout the whole stream practically. And his chat was Zooming by so it was hard to read. Plus when his whole chat started to ask him to react to animatacs which be clearly said he didn't want to do (which I know is just the mentality of twitch chat as a whole.)
I know he appreciates all the support he has, he has said so many many times but I do wonder if he misses it being easier to banter with chat and listening and responding to dono's and just frankly being more chill. I know we can't speak for him, nor should we, but I just wonder 🤷🏻
I also wondered what your take of it was? 🤔
The whole chat zooming by thing, as well as the spam chat and even the dono delay has largely been due to him joining the dream smp and gaining a lot of attention through that
there’s honestly a pretty clear divide between pre- and post-dream smp viewers, and although some are like,,, adapting to being in phil’s chat and just coming to vibe, some people are very obviously either a) not used to twitch or just b) disrespectful
thing is though,,, phil has been streaming on twitch since before it was called twitch
Phil isn’t a teenager, he’s a grown adult with a wife, who has been doing this for years. So like, I’m not at all worried about him when it comes to chat “pressuring” him into doing stuff, he knows what he wants and what he’s doing.
As for if he missed the chiller chat: possibly? I can imagine he does, but I also know he doesn’t regret blowing up this way. Chat the way it is now isn’t stopping him from doing the thing, and he’s proven more than once that if he wants a more “coherent” chat (aka, more similar to how it used to be) and get an actual answer, he isn’t afraid to turn on sub-only mode
Phil has like,,, the OGs and his friends and a support system and he’s still really good at picking out familiar names in chat, so he’s doing pretty well, I think, it’s just when a load of pure-dsmp fans (who honestly probably mostly watch youtube or tommy’s streams*) come to spam chat with “do this, do that, go help this person”, it gets annoying for both phil and everyone else here to have a good time
again, though, phil isn’t afraid to ignore them, call them out, or put on sub-only mode (also he’s experienced a similar thing during smp earth, when he would get spammed to help techno)
Honestly because Phil handles it so well, and bc i can’t read his mind/speak for him, it feels like it’s a bigger problem for his regular chat than it is for himself, because we get drowned out sometimes.
In the end, it’s largely a growing pains thing, where over time people will learn and adapt and things will probably calm down again, especially if dream smp stops/phil leaves the dream smp. It takes some getting used to now, both as chill chat having to deal with the larger audience and interruptions, and as newer people what the general vibe is in phil’s chat, but it’ll calm down and become a new normal eventually.
*i by no means am implying here that tommy’s streams are bad in any way, boy is doing amazing things and honestly really funny, but he also goes against the standard twitch formula a lot by doing short, intensive streams, almost like it’s a live-streamed youtube video, hence the comparison (It’s a bit like tubbo’s chat when he’s playing dream smp versus csgo, people who watch dream smp are a very different group from regular twitch chat)
this is such a rant im sorry idk where i went with this
tldr: phil is an adult and can stand his ground, newbies need to learn their place and calm down, chat will get used to it eventually, its growing pains
