Ofmd season 2 episode 6 spoilers!!
The way they showed Ed and Stede's first time was so interesting to me. First of all, it happened directly after Stede killed someone for the first time, so automatically, Stede was in a very strange and vulnerable headspace. And that's not to say he was taken advantage of--he very much initiated it--but it happened while both of their identities were up in the air. Stede was adjusting to being an *actual* killer, while Ed had just apologized earlier for shooting Izzys leg.
And then we see Ed sitting on the bed, still fully clothed in leather while a shirtless Stede closes the curtains. And what interests me the most is that we don't even see his face. All we see is Ed looking up from the bed, and Stede looming close to the camera, mirroring the way that Blackbeard was first introduced to the show--facing away from the camera and smoking a pipe, obscured with power and mystery. The fact that their first time co-occurred with such a dramatic shift in dynamics is a little concerning but I have total faith that they will *eventually* talk their shit out).
I don't fully believe Ed when he said that night was a mistake. I do believe he has commitment issues like a bitch, and when Stede started to become more like him, he got scared. We can see him pulling away, sitting in the corner of Spanish Jackie's as Stede revels in his infamy. He wants to truly make amends to the people he's hurt and traumatized, and he can't do that if he's with someone who's drinking, and making people walk the plank, and lighting people on fire.
And it's not because Stede is evil--sure he's a bitch, and occasionally ends a life or two, but that's not who he truly is--its who he's trying to be. A murderer, not a bitch--cause he is a bitch, but he's trying to be a murderer, because his whole life he's been bullied and mocked for not being manly enough. For not being a good husband, for being sensitive and soft, and well, gay. And Ed doesn't understand that this is why he wants to be like him, like Blackbeard (because they haven't fucking talked about it), because for Ed, being Blackbeard ruined his life. It nearly ended it (and others) and he doesn't want Stede to fall down the same path.
So yeah, Ed decides to become a fisherman, because like he said, he has no idea who he is. He still has so much healing to do, so many wrongs to right, and it's just so fucking tragic that now is the time when they need each other the most, but they're moving so rapidly in opposite directions, and neither of them know how to communicate it.
I think Anne and Mary were right--they are fucking 14 year old boys. I mean, Stede literally called Ed a coward for leaving instead of chasing after him. But they're not going to turn out like them. Ed and Stede are going to grow up, and they're going to talk, and they're going to heal each other's scars instead of causing each other more. They're going to learn how to commit to each other and stay even when things get hard or scary. (David Jenkins please for the love of all that is holy let them better each other and also fuck again but after they come to terms with who they are and want to be)
Edit: actually, hot take, but I think them having sex actually was a mistake. And yeah, Ed left instead of talking about it, but still. Their relationship is still so new and unstable, and I wish they waited until they were in a more grounded place. I wish they would have reckoned with their opposing paths before doing something so intimate and vulnerable, but I have a feeling they're going to reckon with it by the end of the season.
Ed asked Stede to go slow for a reason. And yeah, they both consented, which is more important than anything, but damn, it happened so fucking fast. I mean, they are gay, so. (David Jenkins I am in your walls please make Ed and Stede practice healthy sexuality and communicate about their life goals so they can prevent further miscommunication and heartbreak)

one of my pet peeves for modern aus is the ones where they make izzy ed's best friend or longtime friend because if ed's gonna have one... its jack. it's literally supported by canon. like put izzy and jack next to the revenge crew and your answer for who fits in better is jack, whose only crimes in the show were trying to pull ed away from stede and committing seagull murder (all of which to save ed in a plan IZZY made) im so salty about all the hate jack gets in fics
Oh for sure. My least favoriate thing ever is when people put Izzy in another character's position. Jack is Ed's buddy at the very least. Izzy is just a coworker. Jack is who Ed would choose to hang out with 100% of the time if his options are Jack or Izzy. Also if you're gonna give Ed a best friend who is antagonistic to his new boyfriend, Stede and Jack being mean to each other is so much more fun in my personal opinion because Stede is mean to Izzy and Izzy's head explodes and steam starts coming out of his ears like he's in a cartoon and he yells something incoherent, where as Jack and Stede can have a bitchy little back and fourth that leaves Jack crying for sympathy and Stede's self esteem buried six feet under. It truly is the dynamic ever.
I don't usually have a problem with Jack hate in fics actually because jack is hateable and there often needs to be a villain, and in Our Flag so far the roster of villains has been Izzy, Jack, and the interchangeable badminton twins. Maybe the rich french fuckers but I don't want to give them that much credit tbh. so you know he's one of three and a half bad guys so I get it. However! there is one trope that frustrates me, and I think the main reason that it frustrates me is because its a trope that I hate with all of my guts and is pernicious in the calicobeard tag and that is the idea that Ed and Jack's relationship was non-consentual. There are tons of reasons to hate him, you don't have to turn him into a rapist. That's my pet peeve and my line. Otherwise yeah he's a villain, good. I like it when he causes problems. It's my favorite thing.
That being said I do think he's the most easily rehabilitated villain out of every villain in ofmd (I'm only counting Nigel, Chauncey, Izzy, and Jack as villains.) Simply because he's a pirate that we frankly don't actually know that much about. We don't even know why he's doing this. Yeah Izzy probably slid him a slice of that sweet sweet navy money under the table, but for all we know Izzy had that meeting with Jackie and Chauncey, found Jack afterwards and went "Hey man, so me and Blackbeard are on the outs right now and he's got this new boyfriend who is being super hunted by the British navy, the boyfriend is a rich guy and I know how much you hate those. But anyway Blackbeard doesn't know that Stede is being hunted and I just told them where they can find them so somebody should probably go get Blackbeard out of there and it shouldn't be me, because he's mad at me right now." and Jack said "Oh my god, you made a deal with the british navy? I'm gonna love watching Blackbeard kick your ass when I bring him back here. I'm going to now go do some insane shit to save his life again. Yeah sure I'll make sure the boyfriend dies just so that Beardy doesn't run back and get his ass killed, but only if you slide me a few dubbies for my troubles." It's also possible that he's full chaotic evil joker mode and when Izzy told him the plan he went "Yeah alright, haven't seen Beardy in a while could be funny." We simply do not know. Is he destitute because he's been mutinied three times and he needs the money? Has he never been mutinied in his entire life and he's minted because he's Calico fucking Jack and he's just here for shits and giggles? I tend to go with the "he cares about Ed" reading because I want to fuck him, but it's up to you. His backstory is wide open baby. What we do know Ed likes him a lot actually, Ed cares about him and Stede getting along. We know he saved Ed's life, even if he does hold it over his head because he's a shit head(although how often he does that is also a question mark, there's so much blank space to work with with him, he can be anything you want him to be other than nice).
And you know what, until the thing with Karl the crew liked him too. The crew never liked Izzy, whatever Jack's got going on is way more compatible with the crew than Izzy, and yet I see all these fics and headcanons where the idea that Izzy will stick around after all of this is over is just taken for granted. But they could easily forgive Jack if he sucked Ed's dick, moonbathed with Buttons, and slid Olivia some birdseed because he's funny and cool and Ed's buddy. Where as Izzy can never ever be trusted in a million years, he was never fun to be around, and no one likes him. (I'm sure Jack and Ed have fucked each other over before, they're messy bitches.)
Now I don't think Jack's getting rehabilitated in cannon, in fact we're probably never gonna see him again. I'm hoping for a flashback but I won't hold my breath. It's part of why I'm writing I'm Not Going Anywhere. Because somebody needs to put this man through the st*ddyhands treatment and it's not gonna happen in the show, so it is the realm of fanfiction and no one else is doing it. Jack was fucking built for an enemies to lovers because he's the kind of man who stands too close to his romantic rival at the urinals to prove his dick is bigger. Enemies to lovers is incredibly fun to do with Jack and Izzy because Izzy is eminently bullyable and also the kind of guy belongs in one of those "don't bully me I'll cum" shirts, but it can also be fun to do with Stede "pissboots" Bonnet. I'm not sure if INGA is going that direction I haven't decided yet, but someone should do it post haste I'm so serious.
I don't necessarily want everyone to see him how I see him. I'm fine with being his only apologist. back in april the universe decided he'd gone long enough being the most hated character and decided he needed one apologist and it spun the wheel of OFMD fans and it landed on me and I became the public defender appointed to him. I am over worked and underpaid and he is a terrible client. I have made him take a plea deal on the Karl murder charge.
This has gotten unhinged thank you for letting me chew on Calico jack for like 25 minutes.

it’s been two weeks since 1079 but i’m still thinking about kid and just spinning him around endlessly inside my head. he sucks so bad but he compels me so much anyway. truly terrible. the thing about kid is that he’s a character told through contrast. we only learn things about him by comparing him to other characters, and I love that, I find it so fascinating. the other two members of the captain trio are the ones he’s usually contrasted against, with luffy being the most important one to the understanding of his character because he’s literally in the story to be luffy’s foil
kid’s not luffy’s only foil in the story, with blackbeard clearly being set up as a foil as well, but both kid and blackbeard serve different functions in the story. while blackbeard is supposed to be the worst kind of pirate, the opposite of everything luffy stands for, kid is more like the evil mirror version of luffy. he’s the kind of pirate luffy could have been, if things were a little different. he’s a pirate captain going after the one piece and aiming to become the pirate king just like luffy, and he’s the only captain with a crew member who is also a supernova. they’re brash, impulsive, a little stupid, and loud, with unbreakable wills and crews who will die to protect them and their dream. they're both competitive and voracious eaters. kid even apparently grew up in a scrapyard, not unlike the gray terminal. on the surface they’re almost the same, but with one crucial difference; luffy is kind and draws people together, while kid is uncaring and unwilling to work with others.
now admittedly, we don’t actually know all that much about kid even though he’s been in and out of the story for 500+ chapters, but most of what we do learn is specifically to highlight the difference between him and luffy. as i mentioned earlier, kid is meant to be luffy’s foil, to show the kind of pirate luffy could have been. the most obvious contrast between them happens at the end of their first encounter in sabaody after luffy declares that he’ll be the one to find the one piece and kid calls out to killer instead of responding to him.
Tumblr media
it’s a callback to luffy’s first encounter with bellamy in mock town, when luffy very deliberately didn’t fight him for mocking his beliefs and dreams, which was already referencing how shanks handled the bandits in foosha village. when compared to kid, you can see a version of luffy without shank’s early intervention. luffy tried to fight the bandits to defend shanks’ pride as a young child, and he easily could have turned into the type of pirate who would always be willing to do that, always getting in worthless fights against people without the guts to believe in anything. he could have been the kind of person who jumps to violence first, every single time.
kid’s aggression and tendency to pick fights is actually the way we’re introduced to his character. he’s trying to kill apoo for staring at him? i guess? huge asshole behaviour, for sure (in contrast to kid and killer fighting the other supernovas for no reason, law’s introduction involves him watching a fight without intervening and then taunting the person who does intervene). it’s not even just that kid won’t back down from a fight though, he and his crew clearly go make problems themselves. shakky reveals that the reason kid’s bounty is higher than luffy’s is because his crew attacks and raids civilians.
Tumblr media
while the strawhats aren’t interested in being heroes themselves, they also don’t go out of their way to harm people. in fact, they often make it their problem to keep civilians out of harm when they’re fighting antagonists, like when luffy stopped the mayor from fighting buggy, or the villagers from fighting arlong’s crew in cocoyashi village. luffy, sanji and usopp even got mad at conis for putting herself in danger to tell them the truth. it’s because of this kind of behaviour that the straw hats often end up leaving an island with everyone considering them heroes anyway, despite not purposely seeking that recognition themselves. i’m also reminded of roger not allowing his crew to attack civilians either in chapter 966.
kid’s crew is obviously not like that at all, seeming to be more like typical pirates, stealing and pillaging villages, and attacking without provocation. while we don’t know any details about the kinds of trouble the kid pirates got into before sabaody, i think it’s probably safe to say that kid and his crew tend to leave islands worse off than they found them. their actions are never to the benefit of the people living on the islands they stop at, and they certainly don’t have parties and banquets thrown for them before they leave. with one notable exception... wano. but i’ll come back to that later.
one of the big things that kid and luffy have in common is that both of them hate people who abuse their power. kid’s presence in the auction house is marked by his comments on how distasteful he finds the whole thing. kid is a character who we have seen directly criticize the world government and celestial dragons, both here and during marineford.
Tumblr media
what sets kid apart from both law and luffy is that kid doesn’t care. he doesn’t get involved until he has to, despite how much the situation pisses him off. because it’s not his problem. he calls it a farce when saint charlos purchases camie, but makes no move to do anything about it, where luffy jumps in and punches the celestial dragon immediately. we even see law freeing jean bart, but kid spares him no such sympathy. similarly, while law heads for marineford when the broadcast shuts down, kid does nothing despite expressing disgust at the situation. he feels for things and understands things in a way that luffy doesn’t but he doesn’t care enough about others to do anything about it.
in similar situations, we often see kid responding with ruthlessness while luffy responds with kindness and empathy. when kid encounters a weak pirate crew in the new world trying to flee, he crucifies them for being cowards, apparently brutally murdering all of them. when luffy encounters brownbeard on punk hazard, a former pirate who had given up on that after being defeated, luffy shows him empathy and protects him from ceasar. he even eventually calls him a friend. what’s especially telling about this moment though, is that kid seems to echo words we’ve heard luffy say before but in a situation that places him in the opposite position from when luffy said them. it reveals them as harsh and sinister when being reflected upon by the person who is victimizing others rather than the one risking everything in the face of their potential destruction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now, i need to take a brief moment aside to talk about kid and his crew killing people. he almost certainly kills people. it’s definitely implied that he kills people. i’m mostly inclined to believe that he does kill people, but you can’t fucking trust oda to kill anyone in the story so... you’d think his partner and best friend being named killer would be a clear indication of the fact that the kid pirates murder people and yet. i would say that that’s another way that kid’s shown to be different from luffy, law and their crews because they all allegedly don’t kill people, but i think it’s insane and makes no sense that they don’t kill people, so i consider this a very weak contrast. still, it’s there. i guess.
when law makes an alliance with luffy to take down kaido, kid makes a similar alliance with apoo and hawkins to take on shanks. luffy and law come together relatively easily, but kid clearly enters his alliance without any real desire to do so, and is completely distrustful of his compatriots. it’s only because of killer that the alliance happens at all, while luffy joins up with law despite protests from his own crew.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the way their alliances play out are interesting points of comparison too. kid is hung out to dry by hawkins after they’re both betrayed by apoo and sold out to kaido. law doesn’t betray luffy outright, but he does hide his intentions, mislead him, and try to use him to accomplish his own goals. And yet, luffy’s alliance still manages to hold out, despite law’s attempts to end it, with both luffy and law being fully and completely committed to each other and their final goal at the end. the way kid and luffy react to people who want to work together with them to accomplish their goals is vastly different too. even before being betrayed, kid was reluctant to work with others, but afterwards he is completely unwilling to even consider an alliance with luffy, even though he knows how reliable luffy is. kid considers the very act of trusting others to be the reason his crew had to endure so much in wano and he views his refusal to form another alliance to be his way of protecting them. His temporary alliance with law against big mom is only made under duress.
Tumblr media
Whereas luffy is basically always down to work together with anyone who asks him, including his enemies, teaming up with buggy, galdino and crocodile in impel down. luffy even knows that buggy is gonna ditch him as soon as he can and doesn’t really care. he accepts help from anyone who offers it to him, and often actively seeks out companions who will provide aide in some way. luffy bonds with people quickly and easily, needing nothing more than to witness a kind action from them to throw all of his fighting power behind them. he connects with enemies and allies alike, placing his complete faith and trust in them, and earning their respect and admiration. his very presence inspires others to go above and beyond what they would normally be willing to risk for someone else because of the trusts he affords them
the contrast between kid and law is honestly not as fleshed out as the one between luffy and kid, but it’s still there and worth mentioning. the reason their interactions are so funny and combative is because they’re meant to be opposites in terms of personality. they both have lofty ambitious of turning the whole world on its head but they approach it very differently. law is a schemer, working on plans for years, and preferring to set things in motion and watch the fallout. kid dove right into the new world with nothing but his own ambition and violent tendencies to get him by. he has never planned a single thing in his entire life, and while he’s capable of strategizing in battle just like luffy is, that’s best described as a last resort. law is reserved, often trying to remain emotionally uninvolved, and secretive, keeping his cards close to his chest until the last possible moment, while kid is reactive, honest, and entirely sincere. both of them are so fucking angry, but while law’s anger had been sharpened and directed, kid’s anger is explosive, unable to find any direction at all and being thrown towards anything that gets in his way. in a funny way, the thing they have most in common is that they’re both shit disturbers who like to pick fights, although kid seems to be the one usually throwing the first punch, while law’s the one taunting his opponent into making the first move.
their fighting styles are completely different too. while i’d say that both are pretty versatile in terms of their range, law definitely seems to keep his distance from his opponents more than kid. he’ll usually play defence until he can spot a good opportunity, moving quickly in to strike and immediately pulling back after. kid will get up in his opponents space and stay there, often making himself and his metal creations the target of their attacks. law spends time analyzing his opponents and coming up with strategies to use against them. he takes advantage of his environment and his allies to get the most out of the very diverse utility of his devil fruit. kid is way more of a brawler, throwing himself into a fight without any forethought, and letting his fists lead the way. i dunno if this is an intentional character choice, or specifically an aesthetic decision, or if oda decided he didn’t want to learn anything about physics (extremely based if true) but if kid’s powers can actually do what oda claims they do, then kid is not using them as effectively as he could be, instead deliberately seeming to use them in a way that caters to his own interests in weapons and fighting style. their opposite personalities cause them to clash constantly, but their opposite fighting styles work together extremely well. law’s generally cautious nature reigns in kid’s more impulsive tendencies and protects him from unnecessary danger, while taking advantage of the opportunities they provide to move in and strike. kid’s aggressive approach forces law to make the bigger swings that are necessary to take down an emperor. it’s good synergy.
Tumblr media
kid does have one saving grace that prevents him from being a complete villain, and that’s his commitment and love for his crew. this is actually one of the things that luffy specifically recognizes and acknowledges in him, and there's no doubt in my mind that he proposed the alliance to him because he witnessed kid's care for killer in udon. the thing that has set the supernova captain trio apart from the pirates they’re up against is their driving desire to protect their crews, and their utter devotion to them. law differs from kid and luffy in the way he chooses to protect his crew, which usually involves sending them away from the danger he places himself into. kid and luffy seem to be of one mind, understanding the dangers they’re placing their crew in, but choosing to believe in their abilities and strength to make it through because they would rather fight alongside them. the biggest testament to kid’s faith in his crew is the way he relies on them to protect him while he collects metal for his big confrontation. one of the weaknesses of kid’s devil fruit is that he needs to amass a lot of metal in order to fight effectively, and during that time, his crew protects him. kid also throws himself into danger for the sake of his crew. he allows himself to be recaptured after escaping udon just to reunite with killer again, and the driving force behind his desire to fight kaido is revenge for what was done to his crew. as misguided as his refusal to ally himself with luffy is, kid makes that decision under the hovering fear of betrayal after his devastation and fury at what had been done to killer. he’s also oddly sweet and supportive in the way that he makes his crew handle killer eating the smile fruit? like, he just obviously cares about them a lot, and killer in particular.
Tumblr media
kid’s devotion is also reciprocated by his own crew, who allow themselves to become orochi’s pawns in order to protect him. killer goes above and beyond for kid, eating a smile fruit and even offering his own life in kid’s place on multiple occasions. kid's crew steps in to protect him from big mom and from the beast pirates afterwards. while kid is absolutely willing to put his life on the line and die, his crew cares anout him such that they're not willing to take that same risk with his life. we see them begging shanks to spare him, even handing over their poneglyph rubbings despite kid's clear desire to die for his pride.
kid’s second encounter with the red haired pirates on elbaf epitomizes the consequences of his unwillingness to work with others and his own violent temperament. if the straw hats had won the coin toss and gone to elbaf, they would have been welcomed. there would have been happy and tearful reunions with dorry and broggy, and maybe with saul. even if they would have eventually fought shanks and his crew, it would have played out so differently because they have so many friends there. kid has never been interested in solving conflicts diplomatically and he definitely hasn’t left a trail of friends behind who would be willing to step in and defend him in a tense situation. there is likely no place that the kid pirates could go where they’ll meet a friendly face. and beyond all that, shanks knows what luffy (and by extension, his crew) is like. even if the straw hats had come in swinging for whatever reason, he wouldn’t have been concerned about the safety of the crews in his fleet enough to demolish the straw hats without a chance to save themselves. where the straw hats reached out their hands in friendship to the people they’ve met during their adventures, kid and his crew have attacked without remorse, leaving nothing but devastation. shanks dealt with kid the way he did, without a shred of mercy when kid’s crew begged for his life because giving kid any leeway at all would have put the fleet under his protection in danger. maybe if kid had ever shown compassion to an enemy or a bystander, then shanks could have felt comfortable enough to let kid fight him one-one-one or even let his crew take him away to safety. but kid never has. so why would shanks extend mercy to someone who has never shown mercy himself? to someone who has never once considered offering that kindness to someone weaker than him? and that’s why the kid pirates couldn’t win. we don’t know why kid wants to find the one piece or become king of the pirates, whether he understands being a pirate in the same way luffy does. but the reason he won’t be the one to do it, why a character like him isn’t the main character of this story instead, is because he can’t see value in other people. he refuses to reach out to others, to accept them as they are and to truly care about anyone outside of his own crew. he’s lacking in luffy’s ability to draw people to him and make them want to help him and believe in him. as mihawk points out in marineford, this luffy is greatest power. that's what’s gonna get him to laugh tale. and kid doesn’t have that
so where do we go from here? shanks destroyed kid’s ship and drowned him and his crew. is that it? well, maybe? we all already knew that kid was never gonna accomplish his goal in the way he wanted to because luffy has the same goal, and i never really thought he had a chance against shanks. as we get into the endgame, oda is juggling a lot of characters and storylines so maybe this was a way to cut out some of the extras, and this really is the end for kid. i hope not, because it would suck if his role in the story was just to hype up the abilities of another character. I doubt oda would kill all of the kid pirates outright because he never kills anyone, so they’ll just stop being in the story, fading into obscurity because they couldn’t keep up with luffy.
if kid and his crew do survive and continue to play a meaningful role in the story, then that means something about kid is going to have to change after this defeat. he can’t keep tearing through the new world in the same way that he’s been doing up until now because it’s not viable anymore for him or his crew. the way i see it, there are two options here, but one of them seems way more likely than the other. the first option is that he could go fully evil and become a real antagonist for the straw hats, aligning himself with blackbeard or something stupid like that. as much as i love how kid is a huge bastard, I think this option sucks, and i don’t think the set up is there for it. kid’s function as a foil for luffy wouldn't exist anymore because his role would fold under blackbeard's, making him redundant. I also don’t think this option is very likely to happen because of how luffy reacts to both blackbeard and kid. luffy and blackbeard are immediately set up to be completely diametrically opposed and incompatible in every way right from the start, and their final clash has been in the making for 900 chapters now. while luffy bickers with kid, he actually seems to actually like him a lot? and we’ve been shown time and time again that luffy is a remarkably good judge of character and extremely emotionally intelligent, so it would just feel kind of out of place. plus, like luffy, kid is very anti-authoritarian and i can't ever see him realistically falling in line with anyone without compromising a critical element of his character.
The other option is that kid decides to make some friends and allies, but for real this time. other people have pointed out the similarity in the wording between the ending of chapter 1079 and 513 in sabaody. since I’ve spent the first part of this post talking about how kid is luffy’s foil, let’s consider luffy at the end of sabaody, and try to extrapolate what this means for kid and his crew.
that moment for luffy is where he finally hits the wall that he cannot overcome. in the east blue, luffy is easily the most powerful person around. east blue arcs go out of their way to prevent luffy from immediately jumping into combat, because the moment he does, the fight's already over. that changes when the crew enters the grand line. luffy starts to really struggle against opponents, only just barely scrapping a win in his fights. sabaody is the first point in the story where luffy is just not strong enough to overcome his opponents no matter what he does. he can’t protect his friends and he loses in a way that he can’t bounce back from. this remains true for the rest of the story before the timeskip. The summit war saga is luffy’s lowest point emotionally but also in terms of his relative strength to other characters. he shows signs of his future potential, like his use of conqueror’s haki in amazon lily/marineford, but he can’t rely on that in any meaningful way. From sabaody onward, luffy is powerless in a way we’ve never seen before. he has plenty of fights, but he doesn’t defeat any of the major antagonists of the summit war arcs. the only reason he survives is because he finds powerful allies to support him. luffy’s ability to make people want to help him protects him when his strength isn’t enough, but even still, it’s not enough to save his brother. that’s why the timeskip happens in the first place, to give luffy the time to recover and become stronger, and to fully harness the potential we know he has.
so now back to kid. In terms of power, kid should be at the top of his game. he’s just awakened his devil fruit, he’s defeated one of the four emperors, and he’s got one of the highest bounties in the world.* unlike luffy in sabaody, kid isn’t powerless at all. the real problem is that he’s a loose canon, a literal fucking railgun aimed at hundreds of people who never stood a chance against him. and despite that, he still hits a wall that he can’t overcome. when you step back and compare him to luffy pre-timeskip, it’s clear kid’s in a similar situation. while both luffy and law waited to enter the new world, kid jumped right in and he’s been scraping by, but only barely for a long time and it’s cost him and his crew. he’s managed to beat down the weaker pirates by being bigger, meaner, and more violent, but every time he’s tried to go against an emperor, it hasn’t worked out. the first encounter with big mom’s crew presumably went badly for him, he lost his arm to the red haired pirates without even fighting shanks, and kaido wiped the floor with him. when you compare what kid’s managed to accomplish in two years to what luffy manages to do in a month after he enters the new world, it’s laughable. it took him two years to increase his bounty 100 million berries, while luffy breaks 1 billion almost immediately. so then what is kid lacking? it doesn't seem like he's hit the limit of his power yet. but you see, i’ve already answered this. the thing kid is lacking is luffy’s ability to find allies and friends. the first real win he snagged in the new world was when he finally made some new friends to fight with. and the second he ditches them, he loses so badly he basically gets a death scene. in wano, kid gets a taste of his own potential, of what he could accomplish, just like luffy did during the summit war saga. kid has the ability and the drive to take on emperors! ...he just can’t do it alone. i hate to say this, because it sounds corny as hell, but the wall kid’s up against is the fact that his power of friendship isn’t strong enough. but it could be! maybe! if he put even a little bit of effort into it. we know that kid has the capacity to care about other people because he is fiercely devoted to killer and his crew. and he can inspire people to follow him and support him because his crew is equally devoted to him! they follow him into battle because they believe in him. they’re willing to subject themselves to slavery and misery or even death just to protect his life and his dream. so he could try to make some friends. i do not want a kid redemption arc, i don’t think he really needs one, like i wanna be clear that i don’t think kid should suddenly become a good person or anything like that. but maybe he could, I dunno, be a little bit nice to someone for once. make a new friend maybe. trust someone. believe in someone. you know. character development and all that. anyway, i’m interested to see where kid’s story goes from here! i really hope oda’s not done with him yet because it really does feel like he’s been laying the groundwork to do more with him despite the ending of chapter 1079
*you could absolutely make a power scaling argument about how he really seems to need to work on his haki because both him and law are kinda lagging behind luffy and zoro, and kid’s somehow even worse than law at using haki despite having conqueror’s haki. so he does still have room to grow and improve. but that’s not the point i’m making, so like, why would you? The point is that kid should’ve been flying high after taking down an emperor of the sea but shanks didn’t even give him the opportunity to fight because kid’s a piece a shit

We have all seen the ofmd good omens comparisons but i am here to tell y'all you are wrong.
Ed is Aziraphale and Stede is Crowley, not the other way around.
So Aziraphale is from the 'good' side, he feels he has a duty to uphold their values but doesnt always agree with these (the ark, preventing war etc.) He is literally a soldier for the good side and feels he cant do what he wants to (like... saving the world) because its not what he's expected to do.
Crowley is from the 'bad' side but he doesnt seem to belong there. He likes certain aspects (causing chaos, more free will) but doesnt truly seem to like being evil so he lies (e.g. saying he started the spanish inquisition) to fit in but it never quite works.
Our flag means death very clearly puts the wealthy white upper class as the antagonists, the evil side (as they should be) and the pirates as the good guys.
With this in mind, Ed is from the good side, the pirates and he feels he has to uphold the blackbeard persona because it is what is expected of him, he has to uphold the values his reputation has set but he doesnt really want to. He has to uphold it to mainrain respect.
Stede is from the bad side, the wealthy white colonisers but he never truly fit into the social norms, he was not masculine enough, couldnt cope with married life or monotomy but he does enjoy some parts of it like fancy clothes and food and he does seem to enjoy weaponising passive agression. But still he never truly belonged.
Also try and tell me Stede would not love Crowley's personal brand of chaos? And Ed wouldnt enjoy some yummy soap food with Aziraphale

I know we all feel some type of way about the moonlight scene but Taika's microexpressions are truly on another level.
Tumblr media
Like this part i find interesting. Stede asks first before he takes it, but you can see Eds hesitation in the way he still kind of holds onto the cloth. But Stede takes it gently, and Ed gives it over without arguing.
Obviously they are beating you over the head with it in this scene, but the red cloth is Eds heart! Its his most valuable possession because its also his biggest insecurity (representing the conviction that he will never being good enough) and without even telling Stede the story, Stede has either somehow clocked this about him or he is being genuine. And Ed is shaken by the potential of both.
His face here is what really kicks me in the balls though. Again without knowing it, Stede says exactly the thing Ed has been wanting to hear all episode. Hes so surprised he doesnt even know how to act. Just earnest schoolboy staring at this dude who, again and again, sees through all his walls and barriers. Sees the person Ed is deep down, who Ed is without Blackbeard.
Tumblr media
We can pick on Stede for not realizing he loved Ed until the last second, but I dont think Ed really realizes it either until hes faced with saving Stede or going back to his old life with Calico Jack.
However, I think this is the moment Ed realizes Stede loves him. And he doesnt know how to act! Hes never been loved before in a way that was genuine. Maybe Izzy loves Blackbeard, but he doesnt even know Edward. Stede knows Edward.
But Ed isnt happy about it! He looks lowkey miserable in this scene! Because at this point he knows Blackbeard still has to kill Stede, and hes ashamed of it because to some degree, he thinks Blackbeard is who he is. Hes been a monster so long its all anyone but Stede expects of him. He spends the entire time between now and Ep. 9 highkey trying to drive Stede away, because he cant decide between his two halves and he is convinved Stede doesnt see who he truly is (evil).
(Side tangent but I love the moment in Ep. 8 when Stede tells Ed he doesnt like who he is around Calico Jack, and Ed goes "but this is who I am!" And Stede makes a face because no, no it isnt. This show is about toxic masculinity.)
I just think Taika really gets this character. All of this to some degree is alive in Eds face here, a conflict of selves boiling under the surface. Ed thinks he is unworthy of the love hes being given in this scene. Hes vulnerable and scared.
Tumblr media
The almost kiss is SO good, because its a moment of absolute weakness for Ed. For just a second, he gives in to the desires of Edward before he remembers that he still has to be Blackbeard. I am of course glad they dont kiss here, it amps up the tension perfectly and sets Ed up for a beautiful arc about accepting that you could be deserving of love. Which is then perfectly encapsulated by this shot.
Tumblr media
Its just a nice scene

okay so i was on a flight and was in the mood for writing some more headcanons!
- roach likes to randomly sneak attack and is the kind of ler that likes to pretend he doesn't understand why they're laughing and asks questions like "what's so funny? what? if you could just stop laughing then maybe id be able to hear you"
- pete is easily broken by soft tickles on his neck, he cant take it! (especially if lucious is feeling mischievous and uses the quill feather of his pen)
- sometimes when stede is trying to make crew announcements ed will start to poke him sporadically to fuck with him while he's trying to get through what he's trying to say which just builds until a tickle fight breaks out
- ed literally has the hardest time asking for tickles so instead he'll just show skin or lay down on top of stede or just purposely be annoying but sometimes stede likes to be evil and make him ask for it by just simply resting a hand on ed but not moving it being all "so what is it you want ed?" until ed grumbles and ends up having to say it lol
- sometimes jim and olu will sneak up on lucious and double team him when he's being complainy but then lucious starts to fight back and it just turns into a 3 way fight free for all
- frenchie doesn't have "tickle spots" he just IS a tickle spot
- wee john likes to play tough like he isnt ticklish but a good poke to his bellybutton will break his facade (his "tickle button" as they call it)
- ooooop stede loves when ed blows raspberries or noms on his neck and his tummy 🤭
BESTIE!!!! yes absolutely thank you so much!! (also I hope you had a good and safe flight!!)
That is. So in character. I can fully believe this I can fully see him doing this. You're insane. He is absolutely like this
my friend,,,, have you been in the ideas list in my phone notes?? I literally just jotted down something about pete, lucius, and the quill this morning sdkjfhkjdsf
the first time it happens the crew is like "why is his voice doing that--oh my gosh is Blackbeard having a tickle fight??" and now they (read: Lucius) just roll their eyes like "captains are at it again" lol
BRUH!! Also I think either at first or maybe just part of the time he does this he just... truly doesn't know what Ed is asking for or why he's being difficult djksfhkdsjhf im love them theyre insane
someone's gotta keep his sass under control dfhdkfh
your mind......
wee john my beloved, all big and strong, incapable of fighting back if someone just pokes at him
(ed learned it from him because raspberries drive ed insane in a good way) imagine though like when his stubble is growing in... bruh. Or even flashback to doing this when he actually still has his beard, bruh.......

Jonmartin Week 2022 Day 8: The Work of Three or Four
Hello there!
As said in previous one-shots of this week, I cannot see a "challenge" and let it go so...Jonmartin week 2022 here we are! The idea is "forcing myself" to write piece of under 1K in different universes, AND, ONCE AGAIN, AS WE FINISHED SAID WEEK WITH THE BONUS FREE DAY I DIDN'T MAKE IT UNDER 1K YAIH, MARLA, GOOD BAD JOB!
This was written for the prompt of day 8: Free/AU day. As I have already done quite a lot of AUs, I also took the concept of Free quite literaly to be included into the story (somehow) and, then, I just wrote a pirate AU set in the universe of Our Flags Means Death bcs I can (highly inspired by some of the ideas discurssed in the TMA Spanish-speaking discord, love you pals!)
Also: I will try to end all one-shots with the line of the finale "One way or another. Together". AND I DID (with an extra note by Tim, but I am not letting go not having a certain type of episode on the canon, NEVER)
I wanted to thank from the bottom of my heart to @jonmartinweek for arranging this week of promps, I love a good challenge (especially a writing one).
As usual, do please forgive my quick tipper and non-native speaker mistakes,
Marla
Allons-y!
AO3 version!
Whole week Masterlist!
Martin and Jon were being attacked.
At night.
At the bloody harbour, the only day they were the only the two of them of board. Because, of course, Gerry’s evil supposedly-dead mother had to choose that week to make her great comeback, and they had to be the designated members of the crew to keep an eye on The Sixteenth Fear (at least, it had been a great opportunity to stay together, being the ones that pulled the Jacks out of the deck -a very democratic fair system Tim had come up with after his brother Danny had been tormenting him for months in his letters with his later hiperfixiation: card games-).
And, to be honest; spending the night in their quite cosy pirate ship tied in a port city far quieter than Nassau had even sounded delightful.
However, as they hid behind the food and drink provisions, their visions of how this night was going to develop were changing rather quickly.
“I am starting to regret those knaves; I’d be far keener on facing Mary Keay…” Jon muttered, playing with the globe that covered his burnt hand.
He still recalled perfectly well when, after betraying the King (as if fucking George would have ever known who the bastard he had working as a quite efficient privateer had been), Jude Perry and her mercenaries had tried to catch him to reclaim the price over his head.
They had those two chaotic co-captains and their improbable crew to thank for that rescue. Another favour he owned Ed.
He just hoped this time wasn’t to be the entertaining distraction , singing shanties to a murderous crew of people drunk enough to get mad over the stupidest of things and yet sober enough to properly aim when shooting. Also becoming, later as the night had progressed, the physical incarnation of the infamous messengerof the renowned idiom (you know? The one that everyone eventually tries to kill) as the other pirate crew stole God knows what.
If he hadn’t been able to fit in a rather small wine barrel, he’d be dead by know (though he had wanted to be, in all those weeks of Tim mocking him while gently pushing him towards admitting his feelings, that he might have been muttering to himself when Blackbeard and The Gentleman’s crew had left the Jon-barrel right next to their shit…specially since now he was a bard).
He came back to the present to a Martin that, next to him, emitted a muttered sound that could, with the power of sheer imagination, pass as a laugh.
“Trust me, you don’t” his tone had gotten extremely severe all of the sudden.
Sometimes, with his nice smiles and soft appearance, Jon forgot that he had been a pirate for far longer than he had.
After all, his life had truly begun when he had been asked to retrieve him to his family…or something on that line; the details were to never be revealed.
The step of the intruders grew nearer, making both men shivered in place; there were at least seven of them (if not more), and they were only the two. They definitively needed a strategy.
In an ever lower tone, Jon communicated the beginning of the first step of the prologue of a very terrible disastrous plan.
“As we are well aware of, I am what could be easily called a light-weight and I am rather highly proficient at sneaking…”
“What you mean is, you are a scrawny bastard that has a special talent to backstab. Yeah, I know, and I am so not letting you risk your bloody stupid life on a suicide mission.”
“I love you too” the second man said, half mockingly.
“I am serious, Jon. You have to let go this carry-all-burdens constant attitude…I could be the first to attack them too, you know? I could get rid of, like, three or four? At least, before…”
“Who is talking suicidal now?” he had to use all his will power not to start yelling. It wasn’t much of a consolation but, with his initial terrible idea doom was only an extremely likely scenario for him. With Martin’s?
There was no way on Earth he was surviving a frontal encounter, as much as he was right about probably ending the life of at least five of the people entering their ship and…he couldn’t lose him.
Not like this.
Yes, they were pirates, and that doesn’t make you any closer to immortality, precisely; but one thing was to go away in a boarding, in plain daylight, hand in hand, you’ll never take us alive and all that experimental shanty and a very different one was to die alone, bleeding out in the arms of the other, as you can only feel betrayed because of how stupid their decision has been, even though you wish you could only feel love and grieve in that moment.
What’s more, he knew Jon would likely be already dead had he stayed in his former position; the jobs given to him by Jonah would have slowly but steadily turned him into the exact kind of avatar of his will he had always wanted.
He would have never left if it hadn’t been for Martin, even if he had just been an annoyance he hadn’t actually known anything real about. He had made him free, shown him he could be himself, no shame about it; no need to hide or constraint anything. Martin was the reason he met Gerry, and Sasha, and Tim, the Michaels (having three people named the same way in the same pirate ship could be a bit of a headache, but they handled it)…
“Hold on, Mikaele.”
“Yes, our art expert, what about him?”
“His annoying protégée: Cane. The thread system she installed…it is connected to the lower decks…we could just…pull the right strings and…” he let a knife (that he had gained after it had been positioned inside of him for being a bit of a known-it-all, quite the story) show for a moment from inside his vest and smiled a little bit too enthusiastically.
“You are not letting the backstabbing bit go away, are you? God, do you remember when you were this little too polite privateer that just wanted to be left alone with his books and laws.”
“I still want to be let alone with my books, I just rather have some people close to me while I read them. And stabbing people that are almost certainly going to kill you otherwise is an immensely entertaining activity.”
“Fine, ‘lright. I’ll admit your whole murderous bookworm energy is adorable.”
“I am not…” he breathed deeply, pretending to be annoyed as he opened the wooden piece beneath which the system of cords was. “Ready?”
“Let’s give them Hell.”
Next morning, the rest of the crew came to a pile of ten bodies of random sketchy looking men, only one of them alive (someone had to tell the tale -and also be followed to their employers, to know if there was something bigger to worry behind this attack-).
“What happened?” Joshua Gillespie asked; he had been their last acquisition and, in a very mundane way, he had the precise common sense of the common folk the rest had eventually lost.
Martin and Jon looked at each other, smiling mischievously.
Tim crossed his arms, he had a new scar in one cheek; the short he fancied collecting (and, in all honesty, it was a completely understandable decision; he really knew how to pull them off).
“You either tell us right now or I will make you sing, literally.”
Martin shrugged.
“Well, let’s just say, that we are not going down. We are getting through, whatever they threw at us. One way or another…”
“Together” Jon ended, entangling his burnt (and now covered in blood) hand with Martin’s.
“Ugh, alright. But you are not getting away without the song.”

The Voyage So Far: Paramount War (Part One)
east blue (1 | 2) || alabasta (1 | 2) || skypiea || water 7 || enies lobby || thriller bark || paramount war (1 | 2) || fishman island || punk hazard || dressrosa (1 | 2) || whole cake island || wano (1 | 2)
Tumblr media
the introduction of the celestial dragons really is just so brutally effective. this is the first time we see them, and before they even show up on page they immediately establish themselves as both absolutely powerful and absolutely despicable. everyone is watching them commit atrocities in broad daylight, and nobody dares say a word.
i mentioned it back in the enies lobby post, i think, with spandam, but oda is very, very good at creating villains who it just feels so good and so deeply satisfying to see them get annihilated, and the celestial dragons are maybe the crowning example of it.
Tumblr media
i really like how none of the strawhats are really intimidated or impressed at all by the celestial dragons, in sharp contrast to how everyone else responds to them. some of that is ignorance, but you can’t tell me zoro would have acted any differently in this scene had he known charloss was a member of the world’s ruling class. all the power the celestial dragons have comes from fear; of course their greatest weakness is someone who just doesn’t care.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
obviously this moment is just excellent, no qualifiers needed, but one thing i really love about it is how all the bad shit that results from this does not detract from the sheer satisfaction of what happens at the auction house at all. like, even though this leads directly to the strawhats getting crushed by the pacifista and kizaru and scattered by kuma, i’ve never once caught myself thinking luffy shouldn’t have done this.
Tumblr media
i’m a huge fan of how rayleigh introduces himself. he knocks out the whole action house with conqueror’s haki, but luffy is completely unaffected, and the two of them just watch each other down the aisle for a moment as everyone else collapses around them.
Tumblr media
i don’t know that i’ll ever get over the fact that oda created and designed the supernovas as he was writing sabaody. they’re all such distinct and memorable characters, and almost all of them have fit neatly into the post-timeskip story one way or another. they really feel like a part of the world that was always meant to be there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i think the way roger as a character is handled is very, very cool, because we don’t really meet him as a person- when we first learn of him, on the very first page, he’s a myth, a story, a framing device. which is fitting, because that’s all the characters know him as. the rest of the world doesn’t know what roger was like as a person or why he did what he did, and so neither do our main characters and neither do we.
and then we learn, slowly, by following in roger’s steps and meeting the characters who did know him, like rayleigh and whitebeard and garp. and through their testimony and memories, over the course of the story, roger goes from being a faceless myth to being a proper character.
Tumblr media
i think this panel, where luffy says he just wants to be the freest person on the seas, might be my favorite luffy panel. if nothing else, it’s definitely one of the ones i think about the most in terms of his characterization. luffy’s been defining himself by his dream since the very start of the story- he’s the man who’s going to be king of the pirates! but it’s only here that we learn what that goal actually means to him, and what he actually really wants. he just wants to be free.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the tone shift of sabaody really is impeccable. because up until a certain point, everything seems pretty par for the course. the strawhats make some new friends, get into trouble for their sakes, get into a hard fight where they all have to work together but eventually scrape out a win.
but then kizaru shows up, and another pacifista, and kuma himself, and for the first time in the story luffy says this is a fight they can’t win-
and then zoro disappears, and all of the audience’s expectations for how this is going to play out get thrown completely out the window.
Tumblr media
it’s not that we haven’t seen luffy upset before this- his fight with usopp in water 7 and merry’s funeral are the two obvious examples that come to mind- but we’ve never, to this point, seen him as crushed as he is at the end of sabaody. it really drives the abrupt tone shift of sabaody home, because we’re used to seeing luffy be generally cheerful, and if not that, at stubbornly determined to power through. but here, he’s just wrecked- and the paramount war saga is just getting started.
Tumblr media
every time i see hancock i’m reminded what a lesbian i am.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i’m talking a lot about character introductions this post, but a lot of really good characters get introduced in the first half of this saga, from the supernovas to rayleigh to jinbe. on that note, i really like hancock’s introduction, for reasons similar to what i said about roger earlier. she’s introduced as a cartoonishly evil one-dimensional bitch, and she leans hard into that characterization for the first half or so of amazon lily.
and then luffy narrowly keeps her and her sisters’ worst fear from being realized, and her facade starts to slip, and we get to know her as- still kind of a bitch, but also a deeply traumatized person who has very valid reasons for being the way she is, and someone who is overall a lot more complicated than she appears at first glance.
Tumblr media
one of my favorite things about luffy is his ability to always, always defy expectations. hancock is dead certain he’ll take her offer of a ship and abandon marguerite and the others, but he doesn’t even hesitate before doing the exact opposite. luffy is always turning people’s worlds upside down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i have a friend who coined the term “conflict of interest arc” to refer to the arcs where a crewmate is forced to choose between the crew and some obligation or baggage from their past- arlong park for nami, whole cake island for sanji, etc.
marineford is luffy’s conflict of interest arc- he has to make the choice, here, to prioritize saving ace over reuniting with his crew. where it differs from all other such arcs, then, is that nobody else can come to back him up. he’s well and truly on his own.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i love how thoroughly expectations get turned on their head with jinbe. for the longest time, all we know about him is that he’s a shichibukai and arlong’s former captain, so given what arlong was like and what the shichibukai encountered thus far have been like, it’s a fair guess to assume he’s pretty awful.
and then we meet him, and he’s ace’s friend, sitting bloody and beaten in the deepest dungeons of impel down for refusing to fight in an unjust war.
Tumblr media
bon-chan is really one of the greatest examples of one piece’s stubborn refusal to treat any character as disposable, and oda’s endless ability to find new and interesting ways to fit them into the story. in pretty much any other manga, it would be all but guaranteed that we wouldn’t see a character like bon-chan again after the conclusion of the alabasta saga. here, luffy straight up would not have made it to marineford without him. this is true for mr. 3 too- who would’ve thought his ability to duplicate keys out of wax, established and promptly forgotten some three hundred chapters ago, would be the thing that let luffy free ace on the scaffold?
Tumblr media
magellan is a good antagonist. i’m not saying i like him- i don’t particularly- but he’s a great antagonist for a couple reasons, and one of them is that his powers are terrifying. magellan is essentially what might be called in video game terminology an advancing wall of doom- the only viable strategy for dealing with him is to run.
i had more i wanted to say here but it literally kept turning into a rant about one piece’s take on morality no matter how many times i tried to keep it short, so i’ll settle for just saying that magellan is an antagonist but not a villain and i think that’s interesting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the absolutely ridiculous, eclectic mix of people that luffy winds up gathering to escape impel down is possibly my favorite part of the whole arc. i just think it’s so fun and so characteristic of him that even when separated from his crew, he winds up attracting the weirdest, most powerful bunch of people around to break out of prison with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the relationship between luffy and blackbeard is a really interesting one. it’s been plenty clear for some time that blackbeard is almost certainly going to be luffy’s final opponent to become pirate king, and yet they’ve been mostly running on parallel paths through the world, only occasionally coinciding (such as here and in jaya) and generally seeming pretty unconcerned with each other. it’s a really cool way to handle the built to an eventual showdown, and i really like it.
Tumblr media
this is one of my favorite spreads just for sheer smile factor. i love it so much. i think we should get to see jinbe’s whale shark buddies more often, it’s a crime we haven’t seen them since this.

My thoughts on Episode 7--Promises Broken
Placed behind a cut for those of you that would rather escape my babbling, lol.  You’re welcome.
The episode opens with Maggie, Elijah, Father Gabe, and Negan.
Right away I can’t help feeling disappointed because the emotional core of last episode (Kelly and Connie’s reunion and the aftermath) seems like it’s being ignored and punted further down the road so we can waste another hour getting piece meal progress on the Reaper front, but I’m going to try to push my misgivings away and enjoy this episode for what it is, so.
“Daryl just told us to go home.”
And save your hides and keep the rest of the community safe?  I can’t argue that Negan might have an actual point here, lol.  But Maggie sure can.
Not gonna lie.  When Negan came back with “I think he was being subtle. He said they were armed with lookouts” I had to LOL.
“We will never be even.”  I mean.  Maggie been frustrating me with her stubbornness in this suicide mission, true.  But she right.  They will never, ever be even.
“Ya’ll know Blackbeard, too?”  I admit it.  I laughed.  A little.
Okay.  I don’t know if this bodes well for this episode or not, but the cold opening in this episode?  Was the most underwhelming cold open of this season.
At least the opening credits still give me that old familiar rush of the heyday of TWD.
Fake Stephanie and Eugene are on Walker clean up duty.  Hmm.  I think I’m going to refer to Fake Stephanie as Fifi until she gets a real name for brevity’s sake.
Fifi handles herself surprisingly well with the Walkers.  Is she one of Mercer’s stormtroopers working undercover maybe?
Somehow I doubt it’s true that our friends can trust “Lance” but whatever, lol.
I hate to admit it but I’m already kind of bored with this episode.  We’re barely over 6 minutes in.
I didn’t recognize Princess without her fluffy pink coat!
Zeke is definitely struggling.
I do like that these two  have been paired up.  They have taken to each other quickly and already have a good rapport.  There’s something endearing about their scenes together.
“Never been afraid of hard work.  Kinda anti-friends who die from stubbornness.”  Have I mentioned lately how much I love Princess?  Because I really, really do.
So it’s been days.  Has it been days that Maggie and Negan and Co. have been outrunning the Reapers?  I’m talking since they left the safe house.  Does that mean that it’s also been days since Kelly and Connie’s reunion?  This timeline is so slow and yet they keep telling us it’s been days and making me think we’ve been missing time.  Like I can’t even.
You know Carol’s “Pookie is in danger” senses have to be big-time tingling by now if it’s been DAYS.
Also?  Alden almost certainly has to be dead.
But I digress.  They obviously don’t want us getting hung up on the apparent time warp between ASZ, Meridian, and the Commonwealth.  It’s like the Bermuda Triangle of the ZA.
“A person with your pedigree...”
Okay then.  Commonwealth is full of uppity assholes.  Good to know.
Yumiko looks classy!  I say that in my best Princess voice, lol.
Well.  At least they’ve given Daryl Dog back.  Has Dog come to his senses though?  That is the question.
Daryl sharing a smoke with the enemy to gain some intel.  Or maybe just the keys to food storage.
So.  Another redshirt (Elijah’s sister’s friend) we don’t know bites the dust.  Meh.  Including that tidbit in the trailer was purposefully misleading, lol.  Not that I want people to die, but still.
“But the one?  He’s mine.”  Let’s take bets.  Was it Carver Elijah has a beef with because it just seems like it was.  Could also be that his name is the only one I know, lol.
Where is Maggie sending our hobbled Father G?
“I kept my mask for practical and sentimental reasons.”  Negan?  You almost had me.  He really can’t help his inherent asshole-ishness can he?
But seriously.  Yuck at what they about to do because I assume Alpha and Co. at least cured the nasty skins.
I wish I could say I give a damn that they’re attempting to give Leah some more likeable layers but it’s a cheap cheat so naw.
There’s that damn river that symbolizes the great divide between Daryl and his love and his family.  At least it’s pretty.
I’m with Daryl.  Is Pope just looking to cleanse the earth of those he doesn’t feel belong or what?  Wheedle the truth out of her, Daryl.
“You never needed anyone to make you strong.”
Think our guy has ever said this to his real girl?
It’s kinda funny that the Whisperer flunkie is now the herding Whisperer tutor.
Is that the Reaper’s version of a priest?  Sorry.  I swear.  I’ve been trying to pay attention during their scenes.  But my mind wanders because it feels like Woodbury and the Sanctuary all over again.  The Whisperers at least were elevated by Samantha Morton, Ryan Hurst, Thora Birch, and yes, Jeffrey Dean Morgan.  Like I love Norman Reedus and the character he’s crafted in Daryl but he’s not enough to have me enthralled with Leah and these dudes.  I don’t care if they were all Calendar pinups before the ZA.
Truly.  A+ casting with Yumiko’s brother.
Yeah.  Something’s definitely fishy about Tomi’s reluctance to go back to his old life in the Commonwealth, but the desire for a slower, less stressful existence is definitely relatable so I’m not going to hold that part against him at all.
What did Maggie say after Elijah asked if Negan had changed?  Because I replayed it a handful of times and still don’t know.
This Lancy Hornsby dude reeks of slimy politician.
Too much one on one Daryl and Leah in this episode.  Without any kind of chemistry at least these two drag each other and their parts of the episode down.  Leah’s character is a fail for me and it has nothing to do with shipping reasons.  She’s just not believable or authentic to her role as a mercenary.
“If I could do it all over again, I’d have killed every single one of you.”  Damn.  Well.  He’s being true to himself, I guess.  Unapologetically Negan.
Again.  I can’t say Negan’s wrong exactly but shit does he deliver some uncomfortable truths.
Princess’s childlike delight over treats is <3.
Look at Eugene running toward danger!  OG Eugene would never.  Abe would be so proud.
Eugene and Fifi actually work pretty good together but it all feels so staged.  I feel sorry for our guy.
“This guy was being, well, an asshole.”  LMAO @ Josh’s delivery. The asshole definitely deserved that punch and his date deserved to be eaten.
Real Stephanie is so pretty.
Aww.  She’s concerned about Eugene.
Oh shit.  Eugene punched Pamela Milton’s little entitled prick of a son.  This feels like the ASZ Monroes all over again.  Sorry.  I can’t remember their names.
Poor Eugene.  Have I said that already?
Is this Lance Hornsby guy the lesser of two evils or...”
All the chances you’ve gotten, hmm?  Seems to me they’ve been set up for some failure too, though.
Maggie and Negan leading a herd where?  Meridian?
That poor woman.  Just wanting her family safe and spared of seeing her meet her maker.
f
So Leah’s not completely cold.  Okay.  Doesn’t mean she’s able to be saved though.
At this point, Kang is just  yanking Daryl’s chain and ours in the process.
Even hidden behind that skin mask, Elijah made me tear up when he saw his sister.
No previews?  What a copout.
Not Kang correlating Maggie and Negan to child and coach, lol.
The narrative they keep pushing about the villains having families and FEELINGS doesn’t change much for me, Angela.  Gracie was the only innocent in that outpost Team Family attacked.  I’m not saying they should have done it but stop trying to make the bad guys sympathetic.  It isn’t earned.
Interesting how she mentions Gabe is trying so very hard to hold onto faith.
If Leah’s the frog boiling in that pot?  They better be serving frog legs to the starving community she’s hunting.  Just saying.
Overall impression of this episode?
It was boring.  No seriously.
I wish I could say I liked it better but it was just meh.  I can’t even muster up any words because I just feel blah about it and that’s not a good feeling to have going into the first final (mid?  half?  tri?  I don’t know what to call it) episode of the season.
Withholding the previews further adds to the doldrums because what is there to actually be excited about here after that episode?  At least try to pique our interest, Angela.

Chapter five; Utopia.
Finale.
Ateez x reader.
Ateez pirate au.
■█■█■█■█■█■█■█■█■█■█■
My eyes snapped open and I shot up, looking around I was in a room a cabin maybe? I wasn't to sure, my head was spinning along with my throat hurting.
"Where-" I spoke, my voice weak, it hurt so I stopped, I was laying on a bed it looked like I was on a ship but who's?
The door slowly opened and I froze not knowing what to expect, I picked up the covers from the bed pulling it around me a sence of comfort.
"Yn what are you doing up?" Geonhak asked as he walked in, my eyes widened in shock as I just stared at him not knowing why he was here or how I was here.
"Geonhak? What where?" I asked standing up to walk over to him, my throat still hurting as I spoke.
"Calm down your safe now, we are on your fathers ship, no pirate will get to you" he said as he placed his hands on my shoulders and started rubbing, I frowned moving away from him.
"What are you talking about how did I get here? Where is here?" I asked glearing up at him, crossing my arms.
"We saw Blackbeard's ship, saw his men throw you in to the ocean, we saved you and now we're heading back home." He explained, I stood quietly as I thought 'what about Yeosang?'.
"No we can't go back, wait what about Yeosang?" I asked panic in my eyes and my voice, Geonhak snorted at me asking that, his turn crossing his arms.
"That pirate is in the cell where he belongs. Gonna be hung the moment we get back to England " he spits out venom in his voice as he spoke.
"No you can't! Where's father?" I asked panicking even more needing to explain myself to father, maybe he'll have some sence.
"Where he normally is-" he said looking behind him as I quickly ran past him and out of the cabin, looking around I saw him by the wheel.
"Father! Father!" I yelled, my voice getting worse, I ran up the stairs now realising I was wearing a dress, I picked up the skirt so I wouldn't fall.
"Yn goodness you shouldn't be up yet you almost drowned" father told me as he ran up to me scolding me for being up.
"Father you have to follow Blackbeard's ship!" I told him, he looked at me shocked then shook his head no. "Why on earth would I do that?" He asked as he started walking away from me.
"Their heading to Utopia, do you really want pirates to be the first to set foot on land?" I asked thinking quickly, knowing he would not allow that.
"Change of plan! We're heading for Utopia men!" Father yelled, my eyes widened, not expecting him to agree so quickly, but it now helps.
"You stay in the cabin I don't want anything happening to you" father said as he walked away, I shook my head no but he didn't listen.
"Geonhak take her back to the cabin" father said, Geonhak grabbed my arm, then slotted father with an "Aye sir" and walked me down the stairs.
"Get off me-" I said struggling to get out of his grip, as we got to the cabin, Geonhak throws me in as I trip and land on the floor.
"Stay here and don't cause anymore problems" he said anger in his voice as he gleared at me, then he slammed the door close and heard him stomped off.
"Unbelievable" I said as I got off the floor and sat down on the bed crossing my arms as I gleared at the door.
✥-----------------------†-------------------✥
I waited long enough sitting doing nothing so I creeped to the door and slowly opened it, looking around the crew was busy so I ran to the stairs and bellow deck.
"Yeosang? Yeosang?" I whispered walking around, it was dark as I squinted to see, I should of brought a candle with me.
"Yn?" I heard his voice as I quickly ran up to him and my hands landed on his, I was so relieved to see he was alive, a few cuts on his face maybe from a beating I'm not sure.
"Yeosang your ok, oh thank god" I said smiling at him, Yeosang smiled back as he placed his hand on my cheek through the cell.
"Shh your not supposed to be here" he told me as I place my hand on top of his, I felt tears in my eyes as I watched him, I thought I'd never see him again.
"I know but I needed to make sure you were alright" I told him, Yeosang smiled as he wiped the tears away, leaning closer to lean our heads together.
"I'm ok how about you love?" He asked as he closed his eyes and breathed in heavy. "Fine we need to get you out of here-" I said pulling away to look at the cell.
"No don't it's no use at the moment" he told me, I stopped and looked at him as we stared for a while.
"We need to get to Utopia, Blackbeard will kill the crew soon, we need to save them" Yeosang said after a while fear in his eyes.
"It's fine we're following them" I told him smiling softly, Yeosang looked shocked for a moment "What how?" He asked as I smirked.
"My father hates pirates he's not going to let them be the first to get there" I told him, Yeosang chuckled at that.
"For once I'm actually glad your father hate pirates that much" he said through laughter, I nodded giggling myself.
"You need to leave" he said a now serious look on his face, I shook my head no "But-" I began but he cut me off.
"No buts who knows what would happen if they saw us talking" he said, I sighed and nodded in understanding, I turned around and walked back on deck.
✥--------------------†-------------------✥
I managed to get to deck without being seen, as I went to go back to the cabin, but got stopped.
"Lady Yn what are you doing?" A crew asked, I quickly tured around facing him, I blushed and smiled nervously.
"I was looking for the kitchen I'm quite hungry" I said the first thing coming to mind, the crew chuckled at that.
"Oh follow me I'll show you were it is" he offered I smiled thanking him as we walked to the kitchen.
"Yn!" Was heard as we opened the door, the first thing I was greated to was the cook yelling my name.
"Seokjin?! What are you doing here?" I asked as I ran up to him giving him a hug, Seokjin was the chef at home, I'm to happy to see him.
"Your father said you were kidnapped by pirates, I offered my service to help. Glad to see you safe." He said hugging me back as we embraced.
"It's good seeing you too." I laughed as we pulled away from eachother, "Now let's get you some good food in you" he said as I sat down at the table watching him work.
✥-------------------†--------------------✥
"Hmm so that's what happened, Gunhak is a bit of a snob isn't he?" Seokjin said as he sat next to me as I was eating, telling he what actually happened.
"You go stay in the cabin, I'll make something for Yeosang" Seokjin said as he winked at me, I grinned at him thanking him again as I made my way out the kitchen.
"Thank you Seokjin, your the best" I said as I left hearing a faint "I know" as I chuckled at that and in a happier mood now.
✥------------------ † ------------------✥
I stayed in the cabin waiting patiently, it had now been four days at sea, everyday I would sneak down to see Yeosang to see if he was doing ok.
I was just walking to the door when I heard movement outside, taking a look the crew was standing around staring at something. I walked out gasping at the island infront of me.
"There it is" one of the crew members said, "The legend is true" another said as the crew walked closer to the edge of the ship to get a better look.
"Utopia" Seokjin said as he walked up next to me, I couldn't look at him since my eyes were glued to the island.
"It's beautiful" was all I was managed to say, as my eyes followed the flock of birds that flew around the trees, the colours almost too intense to be true. There was the dazzling blue of the ocean, the immaculate white beach, the rich elemental green of the pine trees and rain forest, it was truly Utopia.
"There's Blackbeard's ship!" One of the crew members yelled out, pointing over the the black ship, Father ran up glearing at the ship.
"Listen up men, I want two groups, you lot sail over and take over Blackbeards ship, the other group will come with me to the island" my father yelled, the crew scattered as they grabbed what they could.
"Yn, you stay here with Geonhak and a few other crew members, stay safe" my father said, I nodded with a serious expression on my face. He kissed my forehead then walked over to his first mate as they got a boat ready to go to the island.
I watched father leave I stood by the edge of the ship but Blackbeard's ship was still in the corner of my eye.
The ship slowly sailed towards the pirate ship, I frowned then turned to head below deck to get Yeosang.
"Yn where are you going?" Geonhak asked as he grabbed hold of my arm stopping me from moving.
"Nowhere important" I told him as I struggled to get out of his grip, his hold on my arm tightened the more I struggled, tears pricked the corners of my eyes as the hold hurt.
"You are my fiancé I need to know where your going!" Geonhak yelled, the crew left on ship did nothing as they watched.
"I remember never agreeing to marry you Geonhak!" I yelled back at him, I put my hand on his trying to push him away from me.
"You will marry me after we get back to England" his voice was low almost deadly, at that I froze from fright not knowing what to do.
"Let go of me" my voice was weak, I closed my eyes cursing myself for sounding weak infront of him.
"Or what?" He asked, his frown turned in to an evil smirk as he started dragging me to the cabin, I tried to get free with no use.
"Or you'll regret it" I heard someone say, and then in a second Geonhak fell to the floor unconscious, turning around my eyes widened.
"Yeosang?! How did you get out?" I asked running up to him hugging him tightly, he held me close as I buried my face in to his chest.
"Seokjin helpped" Yeosang explained, his hand landing on my head as he stroked my hair, I gripped him tighter feeling more comfortable with him.
"I know I'm amazing" Seokjin said from behind Yeosang, I pulled away smiling up at the older man, Seokjin smirked and rubbed my head.
"Now you two get over to that ship save the crew I'll pretend I didn't see anything" Seokjin said as he wondered away, probably back to the kitchen.
✥----------------- † ------------------✥
Thankfully the crew left Yeosang and I alone as he sailed the ship over to Blackbeard's ship, the closer we got the quieter it got, it seemed that there was no crew on his ship.
Yeosang came down grabbing a sword placing it in his holder, grabbing my hand we walked over to the edge of the ship.
Yeosang grabbed one of the ropes climbing up on the side, he turned around and held put his hand for me to take.
"Your mad" I said shaking my head looking down at the ocean then back up at Yeosang, "thank goodness otherwise this wouldn't work" he chuckled as he pulled me up and placed his arm around me.
We swang across to the ship landing on the deck, we looked around and the ship was pretty quiet, Yeosang pulled out his sword and my hand leading me down below deck.
"Yeosang!! Yn?! You two are alright!" Wooyoung yelled the moment he saw us, we ran over to the crew that was now locked in a cell.
"Oh thank god" Seonghwa sighed as he breathed out a sigh of relief, then smiled over at the two of us.
"We thought you were gone" Yunho said as he walker over to us, I looked down at the lock and pulled out a clip from my hair to unlock the cell, hearing the click I pulled open the door as they got out.
Wooyoung ran out first, hugging both Yeosang and myself as he smiled brightly at us laughing.
"Wait wheres Hongjoong?" Yeosang asked as he looked around not seeing him, I turned to Seonghwa waiting for him to explain.
"With Blackbeard, Hongjoong is leading them through the island" Seonghwa sighed rubbing his head in frustration, the rest looked down to the floor.
"Why would he do that?" I asked as I frowned, looking over at Yeosang who was also frowning at the news.
"Blackbeard was going to kill us if he didn't" San said, he looked very sad, Jongho stood next to him rubbing his back.
"Then we got to get to the island" I said as I rushed to deck having a look around to find a boat, the guys following close behind.
"That's not only dangerous but stupid. Yn your father is on the island now, if he knew what happened he'd have us all killed where we stand" Yeosang explained as he got hold of my shoulders so I could look at him.
"My fathers main priority is Utopia, he won't care until he takes out Blackbeard" I told him looking over at the others who all nodded.
"Then what's the plan?" Jongho asked looking around also seeing no more boats, we stood there thinking for a moment until Mingi spoke.
"I might have an idea?" He said as he looked around a smirk on his face chuckling quietly to himself.
"Why don't we crash the ship in to the island, then sink the other boats apart from two, hide the two, go grab Hongjoong then take the navi ship back to Tortuga?" Mingi explained a proud smile on his face.
"Ok anyone have a better idea?" Seonghwa asked shacking his head as he crossed his arms, at that the others chuckled at Mingi as he pouted.
"What's wrong with my plan?" Mingi asked as he gleared over at Seonghwa, "Hmm I don't know, maybe the whole plan!" He yelled at Mingi, the others laughing louder.
"It could work. At least the getting and going to the island, if we find some weapons and keep low, we could grab Hongjoong without a fight, but more likely it will end in one" Yeosang said his hand to his chin thinking.
"That could work, ok let's find some weapons" Seonghwa nodded as we all rushed around to find any weapons that was left.
✥--------------------†---------------------✥
After a while we found a descent amount of weapons to use, Seonghwa made his way to the wheel as the others took care of the ship, the moment everything was done the ship sailed off.
As we moved closer to the island we all braced ourselves for the hard impact that was about to happen.
The ship creaked dangerously as waves thrust forward in great amounts of power, the crash happened fast as we all fell to the floor from the impact, Yeosang was by my side immediately helping me up.
"Is everyone alright?" Seonghwa yelled to us, we all nodded as he walked down towards us.
"We gotta do that again!" Wooyoung yelled laughing clapping his hands as he had a bright smile on his face still laying on the floor.
"Focus Wooyoung! We are here to save Hongjoong remember" Seonghwa said glearing at him, Wooyoung stopped laughing looking up at Seonghwa as San walked over to help him up.
"Right let's go" Seonghwa said as he climbed down to the beach below, one after the other following after him.
As I placed one foot out from the wooden ship, and the next foot out, my feet decided to plant itself into the sand.
My eyes felt like it didn’t know how to blink at that moment as I was awe struck by what my eyes witnessed.
In front of me was a place filled with the unending grains of golden sand, as if the whole island was made out of gold itself.
Shimmering blue waters that sparkled in the presence of the sunlight encircled the island.
Greenery spread out all around the island, with patches of different coloured flowers that grew among bushes occasionally.
As we all got down from the ship Seonghwa started walking in to the jungle, cutting our way through the dense, suffocating undergrowth, fighting through the very thick air, which hung heavy, moist and still.
Trees tall as cathedrals surrounded us, and a strange green light almost holy shimmered through the vast canopy of leaves.
The forest seemed to have an intelligence of it's own. It's voice was the sudden screech of a parrot, the flicker of a monkey swinging through the branches overhead. It knew we were here.
So far we had been lucky. We hadn't been attacked by pirates or from fathers navi, of course we had by mosquitoes and stinging ants. But the more dangerous things had left us alone. The rivers we had crossed had been free of anything deadly.
"How far have they gone! I'm tired!" Wooyoung whined as he walked behind San, San moved a large leaf out the way but let it go as it hit Wooyoung in the face hard making him whine louder.
Yunho laughed along with the others, I smiled over watching them goof around, but it was shortly lived as we were surrounded by the navi pointing guns at us.
We all froze holding up our hands, I looked over at the others seeing panic in their eyes, I sighed realising we weren't going to get Hongjoong back.
"Wait! Guns down! That's my daughter!" I heard father say as he ran up to us, he grabbed my arm pulling me away from the crew.
"Tie them up we should be there shortly" father said to his crew who nodded running up to the guys and taking away their weapons.
We walked for what felt like hours, I could hear the boys quietly complaining behind me, I had asked father multiple times now what is he looking for but he wouldn't say.
Thoughts floated around my head remembering what the mermaids told me. There is an internal Island of legend, a place with unimaginable beauty, but a growing evil, where the forces of life and death are in constant conflict, for centuries many have come in search of it's power, only to fall for its corruption, and now you have come to this place alluried by the promise of power and immortality, the darkness will claim you. Are you willing to risk everything for a taste of Utopia?
"Power? Immortality? Forces of life and death in constant conflict?" I whispered to myself, I thought harder what connect those together? I wondered.
"The fountain of youth! That's what's here that's what everyone is looking for!" I yelled after gasping, father turned around smiling.
"You truly are my daughter" he said laughing, we carried on walking for awhile something wasn't right why would father want to see the fountain of youth? What is he planning?.
We stopped, seeing in the distant was a majestic waterfall that looked like a sheet of blue velour swishing down, its edges hemmed with whipped white lines. The water thundered down into the pool like a gigantic waterspout. This must be where the fountain is.
✥---------------------†-----------------✥
There was a cave hidden behind the water fall, the cave was built into the muddy brown rock of the cliff, the stone guarding the entrance was jagged and uneven, arranged in such a way, that it would be difficult to pass.
One by one everyone entered the cave, we then became engulfed in chilling blackness. The absence of light meant the absence of its warming touch, as I shivered.
Small, loose stones littered the floor causing me to trip as we got further in, the loose stones shifted, twisting my ankle one way and then the other, and the noise of those disturbed rocks echoed off the dense stone walls. Ahead was the sound of more water dripping in the distance.
But without even a match to cast light into the black there was no way to tell how deep it was or if the next step would take us into it's frigid depths.
Father held a stick lighting it on fire, All of a sudden, flaming torches sparked to life, lighting up the tunnel ahead and bathing the entire cavern in a flickering orange glow.
"Let's go" father said as he started walking off following the torches, As afraid as I was I turned to look over to Yeosang he smiled softly at me.
We enter into the massive underground chamber, the walls covered in crystals, the middle of the chamber was a fountain, obviously the fountain of youth the place was full with pirates, Blackbeard's crew.
I stood next to the guys, out of the way of what was about to happen, seeing Hongjoong looked over at us a smile placed on his face.
My father grabbed his sword aiming it at Blackbeard, him doing the same with his sword, father was about to reach him and slashed downwards with the sword.
Blackbeard parried with one of his gauntlets and the blade clashed against the metal strapped to father’s arms with a shriek that sent sparks flying into the air.
Father was quick and uppercut slashed at Blackbeard, attempting to catch him from stem all the way to stern. Blackbeard side stepped to the right just enough and the blade passed a hairs breath from his face.
As they fought the other pirates joining in I moved over to the guys cutting the ropes loose as we made our way to Hongjoong, we watched around as everyone was detracted.
"We got to destroy this place" Hongjoong said we looked over confused as he started to explain.
"This place is to dangerous for any man to ever see" he said, we looked around thankfully everyone was still fighting not paying attention to us.
"Hongjoong you wanted to find this place, all the trouble we went through and now you just want to destroy it?" Seonghwa asked getting confused.
"It's better this way" he said sighing as he turned around looking at the fountain, I nodded agreeing with him, who knows what would happen if someone got hold of this power.
"On three we push" Hongjoong said, we all grab hold of the fountain, on three we pushed making it tilt, pushing harder it finally started to fall knocking it to the floor.
The moment the fountain crashed to the floor the crystal walls started to shake, rocks fell from the ceiling some landing on other knocking them out.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!" Father and Blackbeard yelled, they both ran up to us aiming the swords to Hongjoong and Yeosang.
Quickly Yeosang and Hongjoong lifted swords, hearing the clash I jumped away, San and Jongho grabbed me as we started running out, now realising that the chamber was caving in.
I looked behind seeing Blackbeard fighting Hongjoong, and father fighting Yeosang, my heart racing hoping nothing will happen to the two pirates I've come to care about.
As we ran I saw that we were the only ones running out, maybe we were the only ones who saw the place caving in. Finally getting out the sun beaming down the light blinding.
We waited hearing the rocks falling, I held my breath waiting for Hongjoong and Yeosang to come running out, the others stood getting anxious as well.
Seonghwa pushed us all back as we saw the dust come rushing out of the cave entrance, still no sign of Hongjoong or Yeosang, my hand grabbed Wooyoung's hand he squeezed back nervous as well.
We all leaned in to see two figures getting closer to the entrance as they ran, coming out of the dust was Hongjoong and Yeosang, we cheered seeing them.
"Let's get the hell out of here" Hongjoong said as he sighed rubbing his head and walking the way to the beach. We looked back at Yeosang waiting for him to say something but he just started walking as well.
✥-----------------†--------------✥
We ended up sailing back to Tortuga after a few days, Hongjoong explained that they ran out of the cave while both my father and Blackbeard tried to save the water from the fountain of youth, the cave trapping them in and now probably dead.
We walked off port and on to Aurora finally feeling comfortable and safe again, Yeosang grabbed my hand pulling me away from the others.
"I wanted to apologise about your father" he said, looking down at the floor, both hands in mine, I shook my head.
"Don't be I knew Utopia would kill him one day, it's sad but true, so there is nothing you should apologise for" I told him kissing his cheek as I walked back over to the others.
"Well Yn what's your plan, wanna stay with us or go home?" Hongjoong asked standing next to them, I thought about it for a bit, seeing them all watching me waiting for my answer.
"Theres nothing at home for me now, really there never was.." I said really thinking about my options, I looked up at Yeosang he just nodded at me probably already knowing what I'd choose.
"Stay with us then please!" Wooyoung yelled as he ran up hugging me tightly, the others laughed as I giggled hugging him back.
"Of course, if you'll have me?" I asked glancing over at Hongjoong, he grinned as he came up to hug me too, that was the sign for the group to all hug me making me laugh louder.
"It would be our pleasure to have you as a permanent member of the crew" Hongjoong said as the others cheered.
Letting go Hongjoong made his way to the wheel as we started sailing once again, Yeosang quickly kissed my lips then ran off to where Hongjoong was standing.
I blushed realising that the whole crew saw what just happened, the sound of giggling was heard from some of the younger crew making me blush harder.
"As you've likely seen, the number of Merchants roving these waters is three score the number of military ships." Hongjoong said getting our attention.
"Aye. Easy Purchase, but in small doses." Seonghwa said nodding as his eyes roamed the ocean seeing the ships in the distance.
"Right. So to lure the Navy out of hiding, it's best to cause a bit of mischief." Hongjoong said smirking at us, the others cheered getting excited.
"Catch a few small fish to attract the big ones." I said now understanding what they were talking about.
"That's right. So plunder and pillage as you see fit." Hongjoong said laughing, Utopia far from our minds now as we set off in to the horizon for the next adventure, finally my dreams have come true, I thought smiling to myself watching the crew mess around, truly I was home.

( ADAM DIMARCO, 22, HE/HIM )┊seems like JULIAN TEACH has left the isle to come over to auradon. they are the child of BLACKBEARD and have TWO SIBLINGS. i’ve heard they’re known to be STRATEGIC + WILY. rumor has it they HAVE teamed up with the villains. maybe we should keep an eye on this one.
BIO.
the son of the most feared pirate on the seas, every tale about his father claims he has “the blackest soul and darkest heart of any pirate who ever lived.” the man killed his own men and turned them into zombies just as a reminder to uphold his terrifying reputation. being raised by that kind of man definitely left its mark on julian.
julian has no idea who his mother is but he suspects its one of the witches that helped his father learn black magic. he was born with magic in his veins, a trait he knows his father is envious of because despite all his knowledge and power, he knows julian’s natural talents will surpass him someday.
his relationship with his dad was complicated to say the least, the black hearted man protected his children and he wanted to keep them innocent for as long as possible but when it came to julian, he could not give the magical child up to raised by strangers and there were little to no options on the isle that would have been any better. instead, julian was left in the care of his crew who were a wily bunch but still had more heart than their captain.
however, since some of that crew include zombies, julian really had no hope of turning out less than odd. he grew up with a dark nature, one that flourished in the presence of pirates and by the time he reached his teen years, his father had to often reprimand him for injuring or even killing crew members. he got away with a lot due to being the captain’s son but he rarely ever asked his father for help.
julian knew early on he would have to make his own reputation, he would only become weak if he depended on his father. he has a genius intellect when it comes strategizing and manipulation and even more dangerous, his heart was as black his father’s despite blackbeard’s intentions to have his loyalty.
julian is loyal to no one but himself, his greatest desire is to posses power that will grant him whatever he wants. he had intended to go to auradon to take advantage of any royal next in line to inherit a decent sized kingdom and marry them, staying with them long enough until they had an untimely accident and he would become the sole ruler of the kingdom. from there he would do whatever his black heart desired, amass wealth, start wars, increase the powers of his black magic, anything he wanted.
that plan was derailed when uma took over auradon and now he has decided to team up with villains, having doubted that they would have made it this far before. now that he has teamed up with them, his only goal is to add to the chaos and evil since he basically has free reign to do as he pleases so long as he doesn’t mess with uma’s plans. however, it can’t be forgotten that his real loyalty is still only to himself.
WANTED CONNECTIONS / PLOTS.
blackmail ; a sneaky / manipulative guy like him definitely has dirt on quite a few people that he keeps to himself so that he has leverage over them if he ever needs it.
betrayed fiance ; i would love it if he was actually pretty close to achieving his initial goal and was engaged to a royal he tricked into falling in love with him (possibly some of his black magic was involved) but he dumped them when uma took over and there was no longer any point to it
allies ; these are allies born out of necessity, they both understand that they would betray each other if it helped their own wants.
good influence ; this is a person that for whatever reason is set on seeing good in him that may or may not exist and trying to bring it out. be aware that if he does have a good side, it will not be easy to bring it out and he will never truly be good. he may develop a soft spot for this person or just find them annoying depending on their approach.
enemies ; he’s bound to have plenty of enemies, people that he’s burned in the past or people that hate him because he’s hurt or used someone they cared about in the past.
hook ups ; he’s still a guy with needs and very pansexual, he’ll sleep with anyone he finds attractive and willing.
toxic relationship ; if he’s ever felt love, it’s very assured that he will never let go and this will not be a healthy feeling for anyone involved. even worse, if this feeling is returned it’s bound to lead to some unhealthy codependency and possible obsession.

Ranking Luffy's 20 Best Knockouts For The One Piece Anime's 20th Anniversary
  We love One Piece because of its themes - the idea that, because the ocean is so vast, you'll one day find a place where you belong. That even though others may tear you down or forget about you, your dreams will never die. That it's your duty to stand up for your friends, because you know they'd stand up for you. Those are all beautiful and well developed motifs in the One Piece world. But you know what else is beautiful and well developed in the One Piece world? Luffy's ability to knock someone out.
  Thanks to Luffy's grit and Gum Gum powers, we've been treated to some of the best KO's in anime history in One Piece. And I think, since the 20th anniversary of the anime is October 20th, 2019, we should celebrate twenty of them here. And I think, in the first spot, we should have...
  20. Don Krieg
  I'm gonna start with this one because it always felt like Luffy, using Gum Gum Gatling, and then Gum Gum Pistol, and then 2 Gum Gum Bazookas, and finally finishing off Krieg with Gum Gum Giant Gavel, was executing a combo move. Like if he'd accidentally pressed X instead of B at the end there, he would've gone for another Gum Gum Pistol and lost the quick time event.
  19. Charlotte Cadenza
  This one earns a spot on the list because of the desperation of it. We don't usually see Luffy go all MMA on someone, but in trying to make his way back to meet Sanji, he chokes out one of the big quintuplets. That's raw, and I hope that, when Luffy finally faces down Blackbeard again, he busts out a Rear Naked Choke on him or at least a Kimura Armlock.
  18. Holdem
  This obviously isn't the first Red Hawk that Luffy's ever used (Other notable uses include his fight against Byrnndi World in the 3D2Y special, against Hody Jones, and in that awesome tag team attack with Law against Doflamingo.) But with work by key animator Takashi Kojima, his Red Hawk against Holdem is especially beautiful. I could watch it all day. And I have.
17. Oars
  Luffy gets the chance to knock out not one, but two giants in Thriller Bark, with the first being Oars and the second being a Gecko Moria that's gone all Shadow's Asgard on everybody. However, I'm gonna give this spot to Oars. Not only does this Gigant Bazooka come after a battle with the entire Straw Hat crew, but we also get an X-Ray of Oars' spine as it happens. It's pretty rad.
  16. Kuro
      I can't imagine that, even after evaluating every possible outcome or option, that "Man of a Thousand Plans" Captain Kuro would've thought that he'd be defeated by a goofy rubber head screaming in his face and then caving his skull in. It's not the most humiliating way to go out, but considering Kuro spent years trying to enact the perfect scheme and talking trash about being a pirate, it's on up there.
  15. Foxy
  I'm a Foxy stan, a Long Ring Long Land Big Fan, and a Davy Back apologist. I LOVE this arc, and I love Foxy. But that doesn't mean that I didn't rejoice when Luffy finally got the win here. However, I have to give most of the credit to Bin Shimada, who is the best at voicing truly obnoxious One Piece villains (He also voice Wapol.) Heck, he's one of the best at voicing villains in general, as his versatility has also led him to being behind the roar behind Dragon Ball's Broly.
  14. Usopp
  Oh, I picked a sad one. The battle between Luffy and Usopp is the most depressing in One Piece's history, with Usopp pouring everything he has into a fight where defeat is almost 100% inevitable, and Luffy being forced to beat up the crew member that he often relates to the most. As a fight, it's equal parts thrilling and depressing, and as the start of the perfect Water 7/Enies Lobby arcs, it's....also equal parts thrilling and depressing.
  13. Buggy
  This is the battle that would set the standard for inventive conclusions to One Piece fights and even though it's less dramatic than some of the finishing blows to come, it deserves a spot on this list due to how iconic it feels now. It's a final fight that teaches you that One Piece just might be somethng special when it comes to handing defeat to its villains.
  12. Cracker
    I like this fight because it establishes two things: 1) It makes Luffy a genuine threat to the stability and heirarchy of Whole Cake Island (even if he's not ready to take on Big Mom directly yet), and 2) It shows us that the Sanji Retrieval Team can get the job done. Also, I like pairing this fight with the last one with Buggy, because in both cases, it's Luffy getting a crucial assist from Nami and they make a great team.
  11. Lucci
   Luffy's fight against Rob Lucci is one of the most well-constructed fights in anime, a contest that flip flops between a battle of nearly equal strengths, a desperate underdog journey, and an immensely satisfying and almost terrifying conclusion. Luffy closing his eyes and screaming while pummeling Lucci through the wall is such a visceral, violent way to end this fight and shows that while clever inventiveness can be handy in a battle on the Grand Line, sometimes you just need sheer will.
  10. Sea King
Tumblr media
    Not only is this a "Yeah! One Piece is the best!" punch, but it's also an integral part of the "We Are" opening. If I was a DJ, I'd play that song at every club I worked at. People would be like "DJ MERRY, PLAY THE LATEST POST MALONE!" and I'd be like "Right on it!" and then I'd just play "We Are" again.
  9. Wapol
  As I mentioned, Wapol is one of the most obnoxious anime villains out there. So if he didn't get something that would deserve a spot on this list, I would've rioted, or at least been very disappointed on Twitter. Luckily, Wapol, pleading with Luffy, gets rocketed into the Drum Island stratosphere. It's literally the nicest option for him.
  8. Doflamingo
  Doflamingo's defeat is a long time coming. Shown as a particularly malicious guy back during the Skypiea arc, then shown to be an agent of the underworld with a hand in weapons and trafficking, then revealed to be the false king of Dressrosa, he's needed a punch to the everywhere for almost 15 years of One Piece's run. And Luffy gives it to him, knocking him down through the streets of the city that he terrorized for so long.
  7. Blueno
      Power-ups are fairly expected in shows like One Piece. But that's not a diss on them at all. I LOVE when a protagonist gets notably stronger and can pull off cool new moves and maybe gets a new haircut. But Luffy going Second Gear and then absolutely making a mockery of Blueno is something to behold. Blueno's look of stunned disbelief makes it even better, and it's just a warm-up for the war against the rest of CP9 to come.
  6. Crocodile
  For most of the Alabasta arc, Luffy is 0-2 in battles against Crocodile. But, while Dvorak's New World Symphony: 4th Movement plays, Luffy uses the blood that he's shed to counter Crocodile's sand to knock him up through Alubarna. It's rare to hear someone call "rubber bro uses his magical fists to shatter the internal organs of an evil desert-themed gentleman" a truly majestic scene, but this is beautiful work. If there was a Church of Eiichiro Oda, this would be painted on the ceiling. Get lost, Michelangelo.
  5. Arlong
  The trend of "Luffy beats the main villain of the arc by knocking him through something large" that we've seen with foes like Crocodile, Enel, Lucci, and Doflamingo was established here with Arlong. Horrified at the way that he's treated Nami, Luffy uses a Gum Gum Battle-Axe to turn Arlong's vertebrate into chowder.
  4. Enel
      Luffy using the body of a psychopathic tyrant to ring the Shandorian Bell, thus proving to Mont Blanc Noland's descendent that the City of Gold did exist and freeing the citizens of Skypiea from Enel's reign is both poetic and just a cool looking set piece. It's a reminder of just how fulfilling reading/watching One Piece is, and how the details of the story often culminate in these big, lovely bouquets of fisticuffs and never lose any of their meaning or importance along the way.
  3. Katakuri
    No, this isn't a typical knockout, as Luffy falls down first and Katakuri dropping feels like more of a spiritual defeat than a physical one. But with the knockout of Katakuri comes the changing of an ideology, and the allowance of failure, something that Katakuri had never given himself before. So it not only signals the end of the fantastic main duel of the arc, but legitimate character growth for the antagonist. Also, it comes after the Fourth Gear Snake Man fight, which is one of the best animated episodes in the entire show.
  2. Charlos
      The most gif'd moment of One Piece ever, Luffy punching Charlos so hard that it seems to break the anime needs no explanation. It's perfect.
  1. Bellamy
  "Do I know how to throw a punch, you ask?" Luffy rearranging Bellamy's skull after Bellamy mocks his belief in dreams and myth is a perfect distillation of one of the themes of One Piece: Those who believe in something VS Those who simply want to tear down those beliefs. And though the fight to follow your dreams and live a free life on the sea would continue, Luffy scored a victory for it here. Dreams: 1, Bellamy's Ability To Go Without A Neck Brace: 0.
  What is your favorite One Piece knockout? Do you agree with the placements on this list? Let us know in the comments!

Chapter 7:
The road so far...
Killian finds out of his dark fate and unleashes his anger allowing darkness to feed on his thirst for vengeance.
~~~
Years had passed for the man who sat in the darkest corner of the Crow's Nest Tavern. He kept his back to the wall as he watched the depravity of the group. He especially hated the man-handling of the barmaids.
A ghost from his past entered. The crew was loud and rowdy, no longer a merchant ship crew. They were now privateers. One of the men recognized Killian and approached his table.
"If it isn't Killian Jones, the little brother of the sanctimonious Liam Jones. I see His Majesty’s Royal Navy didn't want you either." Captain Silver taunted as his crew laughed.
Killian hissed, his fangs surfacing. He looked up and his dark blue eyes had turned into an icy blue, almost white, shade.
In an instant, he rose from his chair and rounded the table. "I remember you, how could I forget?" He held out his hand and pointed to the still Captain Silver. "Oh yes, I remember you, Captain." His index finger trailed along the throat of his intended and broke the skin, his hook slamming and puncturing the wooden table. He tilted his head and whispered, "I'm going to enjoy this. However, I'm a man of honor, and therefore I will give you lot a head start."
The crew managed to come to their senses, they grabbed their Captain and left the tavern in a hurry.  They scampered out as fast as humanly possible, but Killian was faster.
He stood facing the ship that was his home for so long, waiting for the crew to arrive.
Captain Silver saw as his crew fell, one after the other. Their bloodied bodies dropped to the floor as Killian made his way to his former Captain and tormentor.
Captain Silver started to plea with Killian as he came closer to him, "Please, Killian, I don't want to die." he stuttered, "What would your brother Liam want you to do?"
"Liam would want me to not play with my food, calling it bad form." As Killian swiftly moved to hold the older man in place, his fangs punctured the skin and he drained him dry. Satisfied with finally taking his revenge from the man who tortured him in his youth, he strode to the other dead crew members and relieved them of a few trinkets. It wasn't about the wealth of the trophies, but what they symbolized.
Killian strode towards his ship. It had been so long since he was this calm. He had managed to make his foes pay for their transgressions. Ah, except the Spinner and Zoso. Killian had learned a few things from the contracts he had taken from his house and slowly made his way through the names on the signed deals.
Milah’s husband had turned out to be elusive. Zoso, on the other hand, would show up to give his approval. The more bloodshed the better, but Killian had found there was one thing that irritated the “man” to the end of time. That was simple - Killian dispatching his henchmen and women. Anyone that bared his mark was fair game. He smiled at the thought.
He kept on the path to his beloved ship - his only family left. It was strange to think of the ship as family, but she had become that after all the time that had passed since his brother’s loss. It was obvious that Zoso would kill anyone that mattered to him, so Killian decided to not get a new crew.
That meant no one to leave on guard of the Jolly. It turned out the ship was made with Enchanted Wood and was magical, and he was fast enough to do it all. He was still trying to understand his abilities because being a daywalker was not the only thing he could do.
The fact that the Jolly was unguarded made the ship very desirable.
Pirates.
There had been a few pirate captains who had tried to claim the Jolly as their own and succeeded temporarily, but eventually, Killian would catch up and make them pay dearly. No survivors, no quarter.
The last one to attempt to take her had been the fearsome Blackbeard. Once he caught up with him, Killian had enjoyed toying with him. He took his time, played a small game of cat and mouse with the man. A sword dance he had missed since becoming what he now was. Killian had shown his swordsmanship superiority with each blow he threw. His physical strength gave him an advantage over Blackbeard, and soon each punishing strike became too much for the other man. Killian was subdued by the piercing of flesh, with a combination of hook and sword. Blackbeard’s guts splayed, coloring the deck of the ship.
It had been reminiscent of his favorite times. When he had his love, his Milah and crew by his side. A small reminder of a time he had some form of happiness.
In the end, it had been such a grim ending for the dastardly captain and his crew that word spread around fast and soon made Killian the scourge of the seas. No one dared to touch the Jolly Roger ever again.
Decades later, at least he thought it had been that long - he lost track of time - Killian arrived at the port town in search of a powerful witch from the neighboring Kingdom. He had hoped to broker a deal with her. He needed to learn about his abilities. But his timing had been off and he was too late. The Evil Queen had perished, if the whispers were to be believed. Yet no one said it out loud, in fear of her appearing and unleashing her fury. He was not surprised the villagers were still afraid of her since all royalty was evil and not to be trusted. He found that her name was quite fitting.
Killian was walking toward the harbor after a disappointing encounter at the Sea Shell Tavern. It was confirmed she was dead, torn apart by some monster.
A peculiar scent caught his attention. He diverted his path and soon was trailing a well-dressed man. The man seemed to be high born and had a busty barmaid on his arm. They were too entertained with each other to notice Killian or the other man lurking in the shadows ahead of him.
The well-dressed man reeked of dark magic. Perhaps he could be of help to Killian. Perhaps his day was not a total loss.
The man hidden in the shadows emerged with a small dagger and quickly grabbed the well-dressed man. The woman gasped and ran away. No longer distracted by her, the well-dressed man nervously raised his hands to plead for his life. The man with the dagger walked closer to his victim with a wicked smirk.
Killian made his move, and with a swift motion of his hooked arm, the man with the dagger slumped before his feet.
The victim gasped, "Thank you."
Killian's head tilted in response and he leaned toward the man. "Killian Jones, but most people have taken to call me by my more colorful moniker, Hook," he said, flourishing his bloody hook as he took a vow.
The gasp was barely audible.
Killian's eyes changed to a lighter shade as the man lost his footing and fell on his back. Killian smirked, "Now, now I'm not going to kill you."
"You're not?" the man asked, still on the floor.
"I'm not," Killian confirmed.
The man peered over to see the bloodied body of his attacker. "Thank you," he said as he slowly got on his feet and attempted to walk away.
Killian laughed, "So typical of the wealthy to just walk away."
The man stopped at his words and turned to face him, "I said thank you."
"Aye, that you did. How about you tell me why you stink of powerful dark magic?"
The man paled as he looked around. "What are you talking about?"
"I can smell it all over you. No need to be nervous, calm down, mate. Your heart is beating so fast it might just jump out of your chest. Then what would be the point of saving you?"
"You smell it? But how? I didn't know dark magic had a scent." The poor man was so confused.
Killian laughed, "I can smell things others can't."
"How is that possible? Are you some kind of monster?" His curiosity winning, he moved closer to his new benefactor.
With a roll of his eyes, Killian set his gaze on the man in front of him, the shade of his eyes changing to an icy blue. "Your name?"
Without hesitation, the man answered, "Victor Frankenstein."
Killian maintained his gaze with the man. "Victor, why is there dark magic all around you?"
"The Evil Queen sought my services, and her dark magic lingers around me even after her death," he answered, emotionless.
"Ah, what kind of services did she require?" Killian prodded.
"Her dead lover back to life," the man answered.
"Are you some kind of sorcerer? Because that is not possible." Killian knew there were things he didn’t know, but to bring back the dead, he was sure couldn't be done.
"Not magic, science. I'm a doctor," Victor said, still unable to resist the need to respond.
"Is she truly dead?"
"I was successful, but something was wrong, he - her lover - was not normal. He was violent and she couldn't put him out of his misery. So he put her out of hers. I had to hide from the monster and flee her castle to save my life."
"What became of the monster?" Killian’s interrogation continued.
"He fled to a nearby village and slaughtered everyone he faced. Until some sort of hunter finally ended his rampage.” With that final answer, Killian released his hold on the doctor.
Desperation could lead to one's doom. It had claimed many lives and would most likely claim millions more. For Victor Frankenstein, it was his desperate need to prove to his father he wasn't a failure and that he had put his faith on the wrong son. His father, Alphonse doted on his brother Gerhardt. Victor loved his brother, but he also yearned for his father's approval. Alphonse had always thought of his son, Victor, as strange. Since he was a child, Victor would dissect insects, animals or whatever living thing he could get his hands on, and put them back together. His mother had told his father he was a curious boy.
Alphonse gave both of his sons a gift. To his favorite, Gerhardt, he gave a watch that had belonged to their mother, and Victor's gift was a commission to join the army as a physician. Alphonse hoped the army would end his son's scientific exploits, which has been funded by his father's money and housed in the family's summer home. Victor begged his father to let him continue his life's work, but his father refused to continue supporting his endeavors, and it cost his brother, Gerhardt’s, life. In his desperate need to continue his research, and bring his brother back to life, he was made a proposal he happily accepted. A proposal that offered the guarantee of success.
Years later, he found himself in front of a new benefactor, stuck in a different realm with a new motive - his survival.
That was how the friendship of Killian Jones and Victor Whale, formerly Frankenstein, began. Victor informed Killian of the magic books he had grabbed as he exited the Queen's castle and ran for his life. Together they researched the books. Victor had been curious about Killian's affliction, once their mistrust for each other faded. Their bond only increased once they realized they had a similar loss; they both lost brothers they loved and admired, men they considered better men than themselves.
Victor had offered his help since Killian saved his life. While studying Killian’s blood, Victor noticed the blood cells rejuvenated a sample of his own. He knew he could find a cure, but he needed time. For now, the doctor decided to develop a serum for Killian, using a combination of science and magic. He opted to inject himself with small amounts of Killian’s blood to halt his aging. The serum helped Killian so his need for blood could be controlled. On rare occasions, Killian would feed on willing participants. He would pay handsomely and never lost control. He would only allow himself to lose control in the presence of one of Zoso's people.
Endless blue water surrounded the group of Isles that were connected by clear waterfalls, the white sand beaches extending to kiss the surrounding sea. Not far from the shore, there were farms with perfectly ripe fruits and vegetables.
The Isles had a protective barrier around them, powered by the bloodline of its inhabitants. Time moved slower; it almost stood still. The Isles lush green lands were blissful.
Like any other civilization, some sort of government was needed for the Isle to function. Here in this magical piece of heaven, there was the council. At the top, there were the strongest wielders of white magic.
On a rare sunny day, a tremor was felt on the Isle. On the beautiful seashore, there was a man with torn, soaked clothes. He gasped for air, gurgled water leaving his windpipe and uttered, "brother," as sleep claimed him.
"No Kings in Neverland. Just us."
REQUEST: I was wondering if you could do an ouat Peter Pan imagine where the girl is like, a total badass and has dark magic and that she’s really powerful (not as powerful as Peter tho obviosly) but she’s pretty much just as twisted as him and that’s why they’re together. It can be any setting or scenario you want (smut is ok too) but yeah I just want to see Peter with a girl who is as dark as he is but he stil loves her
First of all, thank you so much!! And secondly, I loveee this idea of a dark as hell power couple. I really hope you like my take on it!! :)
~
Killian Jones had met many villians across his extended life time.
There was The Crocodile, of course, and Blackbeard, and the particularly manipulative Cora Mills- yet not one of them could compare to the living manifests of pure evil that took the forms of Peter Pan and (Y/N) (L/N).
Peter was the fists of the relationship. He was violence and daggers and blood stained hands- he used pain to make his enemies fold and he relished their screams like they were melodies composed for his own enjoyment. But (Y/N) was different.
She preferred alternative means to break your soul. She played games of the mind and of the heart- her power was not as strong as her partners but she was just as dangerous. She didn’t use weapons but who needs them when words are just as sharp?
They tortured for entertainment- killed for sport. Even now, long after he had escaped the land they both remained a constant in his nightmares. The only nice thing he could possibly think to say about their ruling was that they had each made him into the man he was today. They taught him to be dark and cunning and to have strength. He knew that if he could survive Neverland he could survive anything.
Hook would never have fancied his chances against either of you on your own- but together? You were unstoppable.
Uneasily, he led the Storybrooke search party for Henry through the eerily familiar paths of Neverland. Swords in fists, together they trudge through the shrubbery, parting leaves and twigs with swift blades and scratched hands. The air is hot- the kind of thick, humid heat that makes his neck damp with perspiration and his mouth dry, and occasionally they find themselves halting to a stop for water in order to keep the dizziness away.
Hook was accustomed to the general sunshine of Storybrooke, and had forgotten the constant darkness that seemed to loom over Neverland. Here, in the forest, the sky vanishes completely and only a few fragments of navy remain, like scattered pieces of an impossible jigsaw puzzle. The air is rich with the fragrance of leaves and loam, damp too. Even so many hours after the rain has passed the soil remains wet, slowly releasing its heady fog.
Killian and the family walk mainly in silence, the only sound being the crunch of boots upon leaves and the occasional murmur of doomed conversation. He can’t help but feel guilty- knowing what he knows about Neverland and it’s rulers- to be leading them to what he believed was certain death. The pirate in him urged himself to forget the boy and run, but he knew that there was no going back now.
“I just don’t understand,” Emma Swan wrinkled her nose with confusion. “In the movies Peter and (Y/N) are the good guys.”
Hook almost snorts, and for a split second he’s sure he can hear the tinkling giggle of your laughter, but before his throat can seize with terror the air is quiet once more. “Don’t be fooled- I’ve never met a pair more treacherous,” He shudders as a flood of memories come rushing back to him- your burning eyes and sinister smirks flashing against his skull. “Pan is hands down the nastiest villain I’ve ever had the displeasure to come across. And (Y/N)? She’s just as bloody wicked as he is.”
He could still remember the first time he met you- the day forged in his mind with every detail still intact despite the time that’s passed. It had been his death sentence- and now that he was back on your soil, he knew you would be unable to resist the chance to finish what you started. You both loved to play, after all, and this was to be the most interesting game yet.
~ flashback ~
“So this is what a real pirate ship looks like,” Captain Hook swiftly turns on his heel at the sound of a gentle voice coming from across the deck, and he raises his eyebrow in surprise at the figure he finds suddenly standing there. It’s a girl- he had assumed that there were none in Neverland- and he feels relief flood his veins at the sight of her friendly face, her smile making him forget that looks can be deceiving. This blind trust had been first mistake. “I’ve read about them often, but I haven’t been lucky enough to find one yet. You even have a crew, how adorable!”
“Who are you?” Hook’s ease doesn’t last for very long as he watches you take a small step closer, trailing your hand across the wooden ledge of the ship. With a sly grin you suddenly vanish and shatter into existence again- this time mere centimetres away from his face. He stumbles backwards with shock, realization flooding his features. His men had retreated to the lip of the boat and exchange anxious murmurs concerning your intentions. They had already faced the wrath of Pan and were not prepared to lose yet another crew member.
“I live here,” you purr, amused by the sight before you. It gave you great pleasure to witness the flicker of fear across the mans handsome face, and your pulse quickened with the anticipation of causing more. Boredom had been brewing in your stomach this past century- you longed for a mind to shape between your fingers, for a game where you and Pan won every round. The arrival of the pirates meant you had been granted exactly what you were looking for, and you couldn’t wait to roll the dice. “Shall I show you?”
You press your hand to Hook’s cheek and suddenly the world is melting around him and in it’s place forms the pattern of a dark forest. Before he can flinch away the two of you are standing in a clearing; there’s a lit fire between you and sinister pipe music fills the air. He gasps and twists in a circle, taking in his new surroundings with disbelief. “How did you-”
“Just a little trick of mine,” you giggle, your laughter a chime of tinkling bells. He had never heard a sound so alluring- and that’s what made the glint in your eye so worrying. “I think we may have company,”
There’s a second figure emerging from the leaves of the wilderness- and at the sight of her his breath catches in his throat. She has long, dark locks of hair and ivory skin. A smile that could make him drop to his knees and eyes so deep he could stare for hours. “Milah?” Killian chokes out, his legs weak as he stumbles towards his past love, his hands automatically finding her cheeks. He pores over her face like he would never see her again- he never thought he would. “But you were dead. I watched it happen with me own eyes. I held you in me arms,”
“It takes more than my pathetic husband to kill me,” She whispers, her skin soft against his palms. All logic and reason is lost to Hook- he’s too overjoyed to see the truth, and as he dips his head to pull in his sweetheart for a long waited kiss, his world comes tumbling down at the sound of a boyish laugh. “Now, now darling. Isn’t that enough?” Pans snicker fills his ear and suddenly the landscape of trees are melting into nothingness along with the feel of Milah in his arms. It had all been a cruel vision- a dream (Y/N) had inflicted upon his mind. He had never even left the boat.
A sob wracks his chest and he drops to his knees- all will to be strong and unforgiving for his crew long forgotten. She had shown him everything he ever wanted and ripped it away. The crushing of his heart to dust in Pan’s fist would have been more humane.
“I like to toy with my food,” You smirk, a mouth full of knives, and your hand automatically finds Peter’s as he takes his stance beside you.
This is how it had always been- the two of you against the world. One heart of coal and the other ash, you were the couple that everyone feared.
Peter presses a kiss to your neck, brushing the purplish bruise he had created with his mouth earlier, and smirks against your skin. What the two of you had wasn’t love. Love is pure and selfless- love is a fairytale.
What you had was electric, with lips bruised from kissing, scratches down his back and manic eyes with the laughter to match. What you had could destroy a nation, and you sure as hell planned on it. He had never dreamed of finding one but you truly were his match. His feelings for you were stronger than love; you were his other half. The one person he truly couldn’t live without.
“Quite right,” he agrees, stepping over Hook’s crumpled body with a look of pride at what you had done. “Pet’s are no fun when they’re lifeless.”
On Linlin’s past
For the longest while now I had thought that Mama’s size + Ceasar’s experiments at her request + her evident irritation towards giants + Lola’s failed wedding with the giants prince Loki... in short it was basically obvious. What I thought, though, was that she’d be an half-breed - like Hagrid, or well, Pudding - and as such, disliked by both races alike. It seems, though, that her gigantic stature and exxagerated strenght - even by giants’ standrds apparently - were simply casual. A natural trait, though without any apparent explaination. And since her parents have left the story, probably for good*, I doubt we’ll get a more exhaustive one in the future
Gigantic people in One Piece are not uncommon, au contraire; just to mentions some: Doflamingo, Sai, Vinsmoke Judge, Whitebeard, Blackbeard, Akainu, Aokiji, Kizaru... -, so, in some way, her stature could have just been explained as Oda’s kink for unusual individuals, and makes the current outcome, if not more predictable, at least a little wtf-y in relation to all the other characters who are, undeniably, drawn enormous but don’t bother anyone.
What surprised though is her “goodness”. Yet another innate trait that she somehow passed on to her children, who are, more evidently, quite psychotic, but didn’t have a Mother Caramel to hold them back. So my guts tell me this, that she, indeed, is somehow a demon, that she is either possesed by something - maybe it’s her demon fruit already, given all the popular theories about df being actual incarnations of demons...,? -or is, naturally, constantly hungry and angry because of it, and for some reason, she can’t be hold back on that. A developmente such as this would be interesting, psycho villains are interesting, my favorite, but there’s way too many of them already. A villain forced to bad stuff because of an entity, that’s more rare**
Another surprising trait is her ingenuity. It’s true that she was a kid, but she really seems to lacks the ability to understand certain contexts around her. I don’t doubt that Mother Caramel tried to explain her the difference between wanting to help someone and trying to kill them, but she didn’t seem to make many improvements. Now, however, she not only understands the difference, but has lost her kindness completely, her good intentions are gone - yet again something that makes me lean towards some kind of possession or innate force -, she now understands the difference between good and evil and leans fully consciously towards the second, not because she’s naturally psychotic, but because she knows how it can be used as a leverage. Edward Weeble’s example shows us that’s you can be as strong as you like, but it’s not of much use when you don’t know how to use that power. A person who threatens to send you heads of loved ones is not stupid or ingenous or simply evil: she does it for a purpose or she wouldn’t waste her time.
So we have a big, massive, enormous develoment that led from what we just saw to what she is now. If it all comes down to her eventual exile from Elbaf, I’ll be truly disappointed. We cannot have a Yonkou with less backstory than Doffy.
*Oda didn’t even bother showing their faces
** though they kinda exist in real life: ever heard of people turned extremely violent because of tumors pressing against their brain?
